turn in your bibles with me to the book of john the gospel of john chapter 16. i'm going to read verses 13 and 14 choir excellent job today everyone simply excellent guests that are with us today thank you for being with us we hope that if you do not have the baptism of the holy ghost that before this service is out today it's yours for the asking it's yours for the asking this morning it is yours for the asking john chapter 16 verse number 13. jesus spoke these words jesus said albeit when he the spirit of truth is come he will guide you would you all say those words with me right there he will guide you into all truth for he shall not speak of himself but whatsoever he shall hear that shall he speak and he will show you things to come he will guide you and he will show you things to come just a simple thought this morning on pentecost sunday the holy ghost my guide the holy ghost my god put your bibles down if you're here today and you have the gift of the holy ghost i want you to be thankful with me right now father i thank you that god many years ago you baptized me with the holy ghost lord you filled me and you changed me god after that night i was never the same lord your spirit lord was poured into my heart and father i thank you that for the last many years god you have led me you have been my guide you have been my guide through life you have been my guide lord through life i thank you lord that you have showed me things to come and i thank you for it thank you holy ghost for being my guide in jesus name we pray amen you may be seated on the morning of september the 11th 2001 michael henson hingeson age 51 who was blind set at his desk on the 78th floor of the world trade building with his guide dog rosalie beside him the first plane hit the building the shattering of glass the screams the panic filled the tower now i asked you to imagine with me if one had sight that would be a horrific event to take place if you had sight that would have been a horrific event but imagine with me michael when from birth or shortly thereafter went blind he sets blind imagine with me being blind in the tower on 9 11. but michael trusted his faithful soul mate a guard dog a guard dog named rosalie witnesses say as panic filled the room and people were scrambling to find exits that rosalie the guide dog set calm and waited for the hand of michael michael trusted his soul mate the guide dog and when he reached and got him by the collar rosalie the guide dog led him 1463 steps or 78 floors they didn't walk out alone to safety it wasn't just michael and rosalie that walked out but along the 78 floors there were others that found their way behind the guide dog when they all got out they could all credit their safety to a guide dog named rosalie but rosalie doesn't come cheap the cost of rosalie was 50 the initial cost of rosalie was 50 000 it would take 1200 dollars a year of training every year and when he purchased rosalie he knew that rosalie would only be good for about eight years and another purchase would need to be made quite pricey would you not say but i would say on 9 11 no one complained when they walked out if your bucket list would be this morning and i don't know anyone that it would be but if your bucket list today is to climb to the top of mount everest i will go ahead and tell you that the cost of the permit alone is 11 000 but no person in their right mind would take one step toward the summit without a guide a guide oh there have been those that have attempted to climb the top of everest without a guide they watched some home videos they watched some youtube videos but their frozen bodies litter the mountain side of everest but if you want a guide depends on do you want an average guide or do you want an expert if you want the average man or person it starts at 28 000 that's not including your 11 000 stamp to climb but if you really want someone in demand someone that has been there many times and come back then i'm sorry the 28 000 will not purchase it their fees begin at 85 000 quite pricey would you not say but be hanging on the side of a cliff and eat an expert get in trouble with a snow storm and need an expert no one complains about the cost now you know this morning i haven't gathered you here to talk about guide dogs or climbing mountains i've come to talk to you about something much more important how blind that we were at birth how blinded we were at birth not only how blinded we were at birth but how crippled we were at birth the bible tells us in second corinthians 4 and 4 in whom the god of this world who satan hath blinded the minds of them which believe not lest the light of the glorious gospel of christ who is the image of god should shine upon them can i tell you that we are born blind i'm preaching about why we need pentecost why we need the holy ghost we were born blind but we were not only born blind jesus would tell in john 3 3 and john 3 5 jesus would talk not only about our blindness he would say in john 3 3 jesus answered and said unto him verily verily i say unto thee except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of god jesus was trying to tell the religious people of his day you don't understand you think you see you think you see you think you understand but you have no vision at all unless you've been born of the spirit and later in john 3 5 he would address not only our blindness but he would address how crippled we were for jesus answered verily verily i say unto thee except a man be born of water and of the spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of god he he doesn't have the legs to walk into the kingdom of god he doesn't have the ability to walk into the kingdom of god he doesn't have the sight to walk into the kingdom of god he is blind and he is crippled to rosalie to rosalie a fifty thousand dollar investment and twelve hundred dollars a year for eight years to the mountain climber eleven thousand depending upon how you value your life up to 85 thousand dollars but today so great a price was paid that you and i could come and jump and shout to the sounds of pentecost what a great price was paid 2 000 years ago it certainly must have been something beyond imagination it had to be beyond imagination to meet and to be called to follow jesus christ god robed in flesh how unbelievable unimaginable it must have been from the very first miracle when you follow jesus let me tell you when you follow jesus you will have a life of the unexplainable songs will be sung i don't know how he did it but he did you you'll just begin to look back over your life and you'll have times in your life you'll see your you'll see yourself coming through things and you yourself will have to admit i don't know how i made it from the very first miracle that could not be explained of the turning of the water into wine no one can explain it no one can give put it under a test tube and say this is exactly how jesus did it it is a god thing which it is unimaginable and unexplainable i have chosen the first miracle that he did and the last miracle before the cross the last miracle is important too i believe the first miracle the first miracle of jesus gets a lot of preaching but the last miracle of jesus has very few people that preach about it the last miracle that jesus performed before the cross was when they came to arrest him in the garden and there peter in his zeal whips out his sword and as the servant of the high priest reaches to arrest jesus peter reaches for his sword and in the exchange peter takes off the ear of the high priest of which peter was met not with praise from jesus but with mild rebuke put your sword up and jesus stoops and gets the severed bloody ear of the servant and puts it on the side and miraculously attaches it again after all peter now this is not in the bible but after all peter i want no one walking through town missing an ear all because of me they'll only be saved by hearing and i want to perform this last miracle a high price a high price i listened this week the recording was very scratchy but i listened and i know not the preacher's name i know not his name but i listened to a recording of a preacher that had a child that was going wayward not only breaking the preacher's heart not only breaking the pastor's heart not only breaking his heart but the child's behavior was such that it was bringing great shame upon the pastor the father and the church finally the pastor who was the father took his son into a bedroom the son knew the routine his dad took off his belt the son knew that i have shamed you once again and the son knew that here comes another whipping with the belt only to hear his father say i want you to sit down and his father took that belt brother dave and his father began to beat his own back he began to beat his legs his own legs he began to beat himself until blood started coming out of the whelps of which the sun cried out stop father stop hurting yourself and the father said i'm trying to show you how much i love you from that day that young man never went straight again he straightened his behavior up because he had a visual of just how much he hurt his father may we never never never lose sight of the fact that we're here today escaping our tower we're here today fulfilling our joys at the high price of our savior jesus christ could we just praise him for a moment oh how he loves you oh how he loves me come on let's praise him for a moment if we can get our eyes fixed on the price that was pain oh let's praise him right now somebody just praise him with me right now oh somebody just praise him with me right now say something like jesus i love you oh i love you today i love you today the high price of our pentecost the high price pentecost can't come until calvary the high price oh what it must have been to be a disciple and walk with jesus the emotional rollercoaster ride of their faith up and down to witness the arrest the trial the mocking the beating blinded blinded he allowed himself to be blindfolded we have missed this little golden nugget in in his crucifixion do you know that he allowed himself to be blindfolded and as they blindfolded him they took their fists and clubs and they began to beat him about the face and they said in luke 22 64 and when they had blindfolded him they struck him on the face and asked him saying prophesy who smote thee many other things blasphemously i can't imagine that can you look at this with me for a moment bad enough they would blindfold him bad enough they would take their fist and hit his face that was bad enough but whatever happened in verse number 65 tops it and many other things blasphemously spake they against him well the old prophet isaiah had saw this already had saw the beating of the face and i want you to see this this morning because sometimes brother hammond we emphasize his nails in his hands and we emphasize his feet being nailed in his side being pierced in his back being beat but have we spent much time on his face the face of an individual is their identity you identify someone by their their face the prophet isaiah in isaiah chapter 52 and verse number 14 simply said this as he saw it prophetically as and as many were a stoned a stoned at thee at jesus his villages or his face was so mired more than any man and his form more than the sons of men isaiah 50 and verse 6 prophetically said i gave my back to the smiters and my cheeks face to them that plucked off the hair i hid not my face from shame and spitting i want to i want to give you a little something for thought did he not keep his scars in his hands and feet inside did he not allow his new glorified body to still possess the prince in his hands and the prince in his feet the print in his side and the scars on his back did his glorified body not steal have this scar sure it did then could anybody dispute with me that it is possible that also the beat the beating of his face kept the same scars could this be the reason after his crucifixion on three different occasions people walked side by side with him and did not recognize who he was oh i'm not preaching an ugly jesus today i'm preaching to jesus that throughout all eternity we're going to look at the father and be reminded of the high price that it took us because i'm going to tell you something when you get to heaven there's no song leading over there when you get to heaven it's going to be worth it all when those pearly gates slam shut behind you and you hear those glorious words well done thou good and faithful servant it's going to be worth it all that's my goal this morning my goal is to make heaven my home my goal is to be ready for the rapture i live my life i am not in need of rosalie the guide dog today but i am in need of the baptism of the holy ghost my chief joy is not to climb to the heights of mount everest but i do have joys that i'm glad that the holy ghost my guide has helped me to reach can i tell you today if you don't want to go to heaven that's left up to your insanity but i would like to inform you of one thing you don't have to go to heaven but you can't stay here you don't have to go to heaven that can be left up to your own insanity but the truth is everything you laid your eyes on this morning is going to one day burn up with a fervent heat and everything you've seen on your way to church is going to be extinguished going to be absolutely destroyed by fire but i don't plan on being here when that happens because of the baptism of the holy ghost i have something inside of me that just as sure as prophecy was fulfilled about a savior coming to bethlehem there's coming a day when a trump is going to sound and the dead in christ are going to rise first and we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together i claim to be in that number i plan to leave this whole earth in the rapture of the church if you're with me today would you give him the loudest the best praise you've given all day long hallelujah thank god for pentecost thank god for the holy ghost thank god for my god thank god for the holy ghost oh to walk with them to watch him turn water into wine to putting an ear back on a man's head to watching him on the cross in matthew 27 45 now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land into the ninth hour and about the ninth hour jesus cried with a loud voice saying elah elah lama sabbath and i that is to say my god my god why has that forsaken me oh how this must have shook their faith oh how this must have shook their faith they had never heard one question come out of his mouth toward god but on this dark day when the sun was covered they hear jesus christ my god my god why have you forsaken me they watched him cry one more time of which the scriptures does not tell us what the cry was it simply says he gave one more cry and yielded up the ghost they watched his limp body taken from the cross and they watched a wealthy man and a religious man wound him up in grave clothes they watched him slid into the tomb of a rich man joseph of marmothea and then the weight of three days but on the dawn of the third day mary magdalene of whom had been cast out seven demons came with the message he's risen he's risen go into galilee and to the place he told you of and there he will appear unto you and in matthew chapter 28 16 then the eleven disciples went away into galilee into the mountain where jesus appointed them and when they saw him they worshiped him but some doubted can i just simply tell you there's no neutrality to the lord jesus christ there's no one today do not sit there and falsely save yourself today and soothe yourself today by simply saying i'm neutral right now you are not neutral right now you are either a worshiper of jesus christ or you're a doubter of jesus christ glory to god oh glory to god well he knows what's in my heart well evidently there's not enough there to get your mouth open he knows what's in my heart but evidently there's not enough to get you to move he knows what's in my heart well evidently there's not enough there to cause you to clap your hands you can sit a little bit slouched in your seat today convincing yourself you're a believer you're not really a believer you're a doubter you're trying to convince yourself in your doubt that you believe because if you believe this event you can't help but say hallelujah you can't help but say praise the lord you couldn't help but to stand to your feet right now and give some kind of praise and honor and glory you say but i've already done it once you can't stand enough for this momentous event that he did for you come on church come on church come on church are you a believer and when they saw him some when they saw him they worshiped him but some doubted brother erickson i love it today that you made reference to this but some believe some get in their mind that jesus rose from the dead on the third day met his disciples and boom into heaven he went that is not true because acts chapter 1 verse number 3 says it this way to whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs being seen of them 40 days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of god 40 long days nobody's dreaming 40 long days let the skeptics say it didn't happen 40 long days no wonder these men and women were willing to be fed to lions willing to to face certain death because they were certain of the resurrected savior 40 long days and at the end of those days at the end of those days luke 24 50 said he led them out as far as to bethany as he lifted up his hand and he lifted up his hands and blessed them it came to pass while he blessed them he was parted from them and carried into heaven and they worshiped him i want you to see verse 52 and 53 with me and they worshiped him and returned to jerusalem with great joy say that with me great joy how did they go back to jerusalem how were they there you know why they were at jerusalem because he said do not depart from jerusalem until you be filled with power from on high which is the day of pentecost the day that we're celebrating they went back to jerusalem with great joy this great emotion of joy happiness peace tranquility this great joy that filled them they didn't go back to jerusalem humming ho-hum they didn't go back to jerusalem uh they didn't go back to jerusalem a bunch of bewildered disciples while the religious people were going about their ceremonies while the religious people were bored out of their minds with their ceremony 120 men and women made their way through the gated jerusalem with great joy it wasn't defeated there for 10 days they didn't have a service of moaning it was great joy jesus had conquered death hell and the grave and for ten days they stayed in one place and in one frame of mind but on that pentecost morning the pentecost morning that came of which they thought they didn't know they didn't understand bible topology i don't believe they did they didn't understand bible topology it wasn't that they were expecting pentecost to come on pentecost it wasn't they were expecting the spirit to come it was simply the day had come it was the day of pentecost let me share something with you it was the day of pentecost now the day of passover had to come before pentecost you always have passover before pentecost you can't have a pentecost without a passover you can't have an upper room without a cross calvary bethlehem cross upper room are all of equal value you can't have the upper room without the cross without the passover it's interesting to note there is a certain type of bread only that is to be used on passover you're only allowed to use a certain type of bread and that is called unleavened bread now the reason it is only used is because 11 represents sin in humanity and the passover lamb was to have no blemish there was to be no blemish with the passover lamb and the bread that you would eat at passover was unleavened which represented the blood of the lamb that brought you out of egyptian bondage but the bread of pentecost was made of leaven as a matter of fact the ceremony began like this a priest walked out with two loaves of leavened bread in his hands waving them before the lord these two lobes represent jew and gentile that are going to become one but the leaven represents the sin nature that is in man it took a spotless lamb to bring me out of egypt but praise be to god god is willing to put his spirit in a man that has the sinful nature because god knows this we'll never come out of our sin unless we can have the aid of the holy ghost i can't even walk without him holding my hand he is the vine anybody ever heard me pray this he is the vine and we are the branches he is the potter and we are the clay you know why i say that because without him you can do nothing i'm glad today for the holy ghost am i perfect neighbor far from it but what i've got inside of me is the power of the holy ghost oh come on just lift your hands right now with me just lift your hands with me right now just lift your hands with me right now i can't even walk without him holding my hand i've got to have the holy ghost it's not any it's not an optional thing it's not an optional thing i must have the baptism of the holy ghost he's the air that i breathe he's the water that i drink he's the road that i walk on he's my all in all my everything he's my alpha my omega my beginning my ending he's my doctor when i'm sick he's my lawyer when i'm in trouble oh he's my all somebody say his name come on somebody say his name he's my guide he's my all in all do you understand something about egyptian bondage but it's all typology it's all topology let's follow me closely now first a lamb then a cloud than a house it's all topology you don't have the cloud first you have the land first you don't have the house first you have the lamb first lamb cloud house lamb cloud house you're not coming out of egypt at least alive unless you put the lamb blood on the doorpost you're not coming out of this world alive unless you have the lamb's blood and you have him on the inside of your house you got to have him on the inside and the outside but notice with me after the lamb the lamb brought them out the lamb released them please follow this the lamb released them but it was the cloud that directed them you see today we don't need this cheap bible salvation that you just get saved and go back to your old way of living and then some guy gets up at a funeral and says you know old so-and-so gave his heart to the lord 80 years ago ain't seen him since but he's walking streets of gold now false comforters we're not talking about this cheap stuff of making a profession of your faith and then going right back to the way you live listen he didn't just love you enough to save you he loves you enough to lead you lamb a cloud and a house the bible says in exodus chapter 13 verse number 21 and the lord went before them by day and a pillar of cloud to lead them the way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light to go by day and night he took not away the pillar of the cloud by day nor the pillar of the fire by night from before his people oh friend you know just he just simply didn't give you a lamb he gave you a cloud and that cloud was to lead you because you're going somewhere you're going to your promised land you're going to your heaven you're going somewhere we're all going somewhere we're all going somewhere come on now we're all going somewhere we're all going somewhere time tarries time tarries every play imagine this 100 years from now if the rapture doesn't happen it's a fact neighbor it's this this kind of preaching doesn't make me feel good well it may not make you feel good but it'll save you most medicine that i take by mouth does not take taste good y'all ain't listening to me this morning this don't make me feel good i if jesus christ terrius is coming you'll be a fool if you want to this morning but if jesus christ tears his coming 100 years all of us are gone somebody's already preached our funeral we're somewhere six feet under somewhere in this county and the only thing that matters about our lives is how we live for jesus christ so get in a hurry if you want to but getting a hurry for the right thing this cloud led them by day was a cloud that took them by day as a pillar of fire by night it guided them by night not only that it guided them to a mountain it guided them to a mountain and there on the mountain brothers this moses comes down with the roll of blueprints and he lays them out out and somebody said what's that he said it's the tabernacle what is it it's god's house where he'll live and if we'll build it and worship the way that god says to worship god will dwell in that back room called the holiest of holies can i tell you in a day when people are belittling a public place of worship in my estimation a day a public place of worship is the most valuable place in all of our lives right now i thank god for the lamb and i thank god for the cloud and yes indeed i thank god for this house this morning i thank god for a place to come and publicly give praise to god and publicly testify to everyone in here that i love jesus christ i guess if there would be one thing as i as i come to a close this morning i guess if there would be one thing to be the be the number one top request in counseling please tell me what to do i'm lost please tell me the next step what can i tell you i may not be able to tell you necessarily all the time the next step but i can help you get god's gps put in your life and you got to trust it you can't be like your pastor honey it says turn here honey i'm telling you what i i i i know better i i it's it's only to hear those words recalculating recalculating am i alone today when possible make a legal u-turn i i i may not know exactly what you need to do but i am very confident that if you'll stir up the gift of god in you today god's gps will say recalculating recalculating when possible go to the altar when possible go to prayer how powerful it is can i tell you how powerful it is today i won't read all the scripture but in second kings the king of syria which was a very fierce cruel fighter he would dismember his captives syria was the king of syria was the man that figured out how to lead a large number of captives safely back and that was what we would refer to as a trotline he had a long rope about 18 inches apart he would put a hook and he would drive the hook through the nose of the captives and some hundred captives would be led by one man oh he was such sister belcher he was such a cruel person but he tried to attack god's people and so he set up an ambush an ambush god's people were coming down the trail coming down the road and he had set up an ambush but god's people had a prophet among them and the prophet said the lord spoke to me thus saith the lord don't go that way go another way and while the enemy was waiting in anticipation to pounce on god's people they never came that way oh they got lucky today for whatever reason they chose another route and so the king of syria went and set up another camp and he waited they're coming this way this is the only logical way for them to come but once again the old testament prophet would step out and say the lord just spoke to me and let's go this direction and so after about the third time of that the king of syria called all of his captains and lieutenants together and he said one of you is a traitor one of you is a traitor who is selling me out one of you is telling israel our battle plans and a man spoke up and said none of us my lord it said there's a prophet and said the prophet hears what you say in your bed chamber he does what city's in right now he said dolphin well send an army surround it bring this prophet to me and so the army went to dothan there was the prophet early that next morning the prophet's servant got up to draw water for the man of god and when he opened the door and looked up the mountains were full of syrian soldiers and he uses a word alas a alas is a word of indescribable anguish alas he goes in the house and he says oh master you've got to come and see alas syria surrounded us of which the man of god walked out and he said what's wrong there's more with us and he's with them and the servant boy said no 1 two one thousand eight one thousand nine one thousand ten he said oh no no no no lord open up his eyes that he may see and god opened his eyes and he saw the mountains were full of flaming chariots and flaming horses snouting out flames out of their nose and heavenly angels standing around and the servant boy said you're right and the king of syria and his men started galloping into the town when the man of god prayed another prayer and said god smote them smite them with blindness and all of a sudden all these men that could see well went blind the old prophet walked right out got the horse by the bridle and said hey where you going fella he said we're seeking such and so he said follow me and two men led a whole army right down to the city of samaria put them right inside the gate surrounded them with israeli armies and when he got them in the city and they shut the gate he said open their eyes lord in their eyes can you imagine the jar they had when their eyes got opened and they were surrounded and the king of syria king of samaria said shall we kill them he said no that's not what you do to your enemies you see the holy ghost will help you deal with those who are trying to kill you some people feel like they got a word from the lord they got a word from their flesh he said shall we kill him he said no don't kill him sid go put something on the stove for them get some bread bacon for them feed them yeah feed them feed them and they fed them and they let them go and i told you that whole story today to tell you do you want to live so far beneath your privileges that you trust the guidance of your life to your little please excuse me your little pee brain you ain't that smart sweetheart bub you ain't that smart you have more degrees on your wall than a thermometer you're not that smart you're not that pretty you really want to trust yourself to your carnal flesh not me today i publicly and humbly admit that i can't even walk without his guidance i humbly and publicly admit that when some of you come to me for counseling and i sit in my fine office with my fine leather shoes in my fine suit and i make sounds like hmm well what about that i see yes well i tell you what let's pray about this let's pray about this and let's get back together you leave my office and you coming back next sunday but sister franklin somewhere between now and next sunday i'm down on my knees saying god i don't know what to tell them god but you do god i don't know how i don't tell that lady god i don't know what to tell her but i am so thankful this morning for the guiding power of the holy ghost for he said when he has come he will guide you he will guide you and he will lead you would you stand with me right now i don't know what to do this morning pastor i've got a life of trouble come on don't you hear that word this morning when possible come to the altar recalculating come on you hear it right now recalculating come on somebody help me pray today don't you you don't have to help me pray the holy ghost to talk to people the holy ghost is already talking to him help me pray they obey him right now help me pray they obey him right now come on help me pray right now they'll obey him recalculate it you're getting more lost as your life is lived recalculating you're getting more lost as life goes on recalculating come on right now come on right now come on right now if you need guidance for your life come on right now it's the holy ghost it's the power of the holy ghost oh that's not how the story is oh it's the power of the holy ghost it's the power of the holy ghost that's not how thank you sis thank you you don't you listen this is a healed i want to find purpose in my life i want to find meaning in my life god i'm so bored god i'm so bored i want to find meaning and i want my purpose i want fire i want excitement i want joy oh come on let's pray oh come on let's pray come on ask him today holy ghost come on holy ghost he's able he's able he's able come on this morning the holy ghost is here thank you lord thank you lord we are here is we're here oh is go for it because it's here you just gotta put your antennas out you gotta get your faith up oh oh is come and do we need to do is is is is yes we are here for you way the one is is i is me i'm glad you got that fire burning inside of you today hey guys you got that fire burning inside of you how about some sounds of great joy right now thank god thank god thank you i want you to help me to pray right now and i know there's several still in the altars of praying but we got a call i believe it was on friday that uh presley wilson his blood sugar was unbelievably high and uh brother shannon your son's still in the hospital well right there beside you i'll tell you what if you'd been jesus i wouldn't recognize the president but uh extreme extremely high and had to be hospitalized and president we want to pray for you this morning brother erickson go get a bottle of oil and uh let's pray for president then uh sister kim claiborne told us before service and her father is very sick and let's pray for him this morning how many are glad that you got that cloud you got the cloud you got the cloud this one i'm so i'm so glad i'm so i'm never i'm never without when i've got that cloud and deep in my heart father in the name of jesus christ lord we pray right now for presley god we pray lord for healing of this blood sugar god i know what the normal thing is
