if you have your Bibles tonight turn with me to the book of Isaiah 12 and verse number four keep your Bibles good and handy tonight because we're going to be weaving our way through the Bible and we're going to be proving from the text that we read the importance and the beauty of the name of Jesus the importance and the beauty of the name of Jesus you know it didn't take long it didn't take long after we came to God you were probably in the same condition I was in but there was one thing that one scripture that made me a public worshipper it was one scripture that made me a public worshipper scripture says if you are ashamed of me before men I will be ashamed of you before my father and I thought to myself I never want God to be ashamed of me and so I better get over all the peer pressure and I better get over whether I'm tired and all of that I better when I get a chance publicly to acknowledge the name of Jesus Christ I better do it publicly because I don't want him to be ashamed of me Lord I love you and I praise you tonight I love you and I praise you now I ask you tonight just to bear with me this evening just to bear with me me this evening would you bear with me this evening because I'm just going to take this Bible Lesson and I'm just going to glorify I'm going to lift up I'm going to exalt the mighty name of Jesus tonight and if lifting up the name of Jesus is boring to you you're going to be bored out of your mind the biggest part of this message tonight but to those of us who are the majority that the name of Jesus is the sweetest name that could be on your lips you're going to be worshiping and praising God tonight oh Hallelujah Isaiah 12 and verse number four in that day shall ye say praise the Lord call upon his name make his doings known declare his doings among the people make mention help me read it now make mention help me read it now make mention that his name is what exed exalted one more text before you seated it Proverbs 18 and10 Proverbs 18 and10 the name of the Lord is a strong tower the righteous run into it and is saved Jesus tonight I ask you that for the next few moments God that you would anoint your servant that I would exalt your name and that I would I would Proclaim to this congregation the importance of your name and the beauty of Your Name Lord let it get deep down in our hearts deep down in our minds that we can do everything in the name of Jesus tonight Lord we praise you and we worship you God if there's one standing among us tonight that's not ready to meet you God if there's one standing among us tonight that the world has confused their minds God if there's one standing among us tonight Lord that would not be ready for that trumpet to sound Lord by The Authority that's in the name of Jesus Christ come walking down the aisles of this church tonight stop it every Pew Minister every heart tonight that all men and women may be ready to meet you you give them an invitation tonight in Jesus name we all pray amen and amen you may be seated tonight the writer tells us very early the book of Isaiah and I want you to know somebody told me this week and I believe them said did you hear about three books in the Bible that you've never preached that of before I said well tell me tell me what are they he said first and second opinion I said well you're right I've never wanted to preach out of opinions I'd hate to bring a bunch of people out on an old cold treacherous night like tonight for you to hear the opinions of man I said what's the third book he said you've heard of the book of Isaiah I said yes he said it's the book of Isaiah all right and you don't want to hear the book of Isaiah you want to hear you want to hear what God saith amen and so we we've come to this past mage of scripture with the psalmist just simply said the day will come when they will say praise the Lord the day will come when they will call upon his name and the day will come that we will declare his doings among the people and we will make mention that his name is exalted the writer of Proverbs would let us know that the name of the Lord is a strong tower and that the righteous run into it and is saved the name of the Lord signifies all that God is in himself when we say the name of the Lord we're talking about the totality of his character when we say the name of the Lord we're talking about the totality of his attributes we say the name of the Lord we're talking about his love we say the name of the Lord we're talking about his Mercy we say the name of the Lord we're talking about his power we say the name of the Lord we talking about we're talking about his knowledge from the writers of the Bible's perspective Ive sister Carpenter the name of the Lord was a refuge to them the name of the Lord was a refuge it was a place of safety no wonder the writer of Psalm 61 and verse3 listen to this closely Psalm 61 and verse number three simply says for thou Hast been a shelter for me a strong tower from my enemy they understood the importance of the name of the Lord imagine our first parents in Adam and Eve as they walked in sinless Perfection with God God could come down in the cool of the day and God could walk with them and God could talk with them and whatever that looked like the Bible simply just says that God came in the cool the breezes of the day sin reared its ugly head Adam and Eve are expelled from the garden but they're not expelled until God shows Adam ad how to sacrifice shows Adam the killing of an animal the shedding of blood and the giving of a garment to cover their nakedness and their shame Adam would pass this on down to his sons Cain and Abel he would teach his two sons how to sacrifice evidently fire would be the appearance of the approval of God it would be it would be the fire it would be the fire that would come down and that would signal that God was pleased with the sacrifice but we know the Bible would tell us that Cain chose a different route of offering and no fire came down upon Cain's offering we understand that Cain became very wroth and angry and jealous of his brother Abel the Bible says that Cain took the life of Abel the one that worshiped and so now after some time of grieving Adam and Eve come together and another son is born and in Genesis 4 verse number 26 this son is born and here is the record of him and to Seth to him also there was born a son and he called his name Enos then began men to call upon the name of the Lord the Bible tells us the name of Seth means substitute it means someone that has been appointed the worshipper Abel has been killed but God gives a s and to has an Enos and it would be with Enos and look closely at this verse it says that then men begin to call upon the name of the Lord the phrasing then men begin to call give to our minds a certain group of men it gives to our mind there was a certain class of people that got together although sin was running rampid through the human race there was a group of people that got together and they knew that they needed God they knew they needed a connection with God they knew they needed a mediator with God you see tonight God's people we don't worship God through a statue we don't worship God through some kind of idol image we don't worship God through a a piece of jewelry that that that we concentrate or a picture that we look at or a statue that we look at we we're not that the Bible tells us that we're to make no graven images to bow down our mediator between a sinful man and a righteous God is a name that is above every name if I could tell you tonight the name is our mediator the name is what we have that goes with us when we're not in church the name is still there when it's not Sunday morning the name is still there when we're driving down the interstate we still have his name when we stand and receive the worst news of our life thank God we still have that name that we can call that we can call on would you give him a hand right now the name of Jesus they got together they got together in a community and they begin to say we need to call out upon the name of the Lord so sometime later God would choose a man by the name of Abram he would call him out of the land of er of caldes and it wasn't very far in his journey with God that in Genesis 12 verse number 8 records something very interesting about Abram the Bible said he removed from then unto a mountain on the east of bethl pitched his tent having bethl on the west and Hai on the East and there he built did an altar unto the Lord but an altar wasn't enough an altar wouldn't be sufficient an altar wasn't enough for him he built an altar and he called upon the name of the Lord again we're going to weave our way through scripture and we're going to come to the conclusion here in a little bit the importance of that name and the beauty of that name it would be a young Shepherd boy that would have faith in Jehovah God unbelievable Faith this young Shepherd boy would have when his other War skilled brothers would hide in a tent from the mighty defying Blasphemous Goliath it would be the young unqualified Shepherd boy called David that would Race Across the valley floor and as that giant would come near to him 1st Samuel 17:45 records what this young unskilled Warrior would say then said David to the Philistine thou comest to me with a sword and with a spear and with a shield but I come unto thee In The Name Of The Lord of the hosts the god of the armies of Israel whom thou Hast defiled even a young Shepherd boy with faith in God knew the value that when he faced his Goliath he would not face it with a slingshot alone but he would face it in the name of the Lord and if God would give David the head of Goliath and David has half of the Revelation that you and I have how much more sister Paula will he give you and I the victory when we Face our Goliath in the name of Jesus sometime later it would be the Prophet Elijah oh so angry at Israel given to the worship of baale it would be this Elijah that would step out and challenge Elijah lived in the minority Elijah was the minority Bale worshippers were the majority it would be this Elijah that would have confidence to challenge the baale worshippers it's recorded in First Kings 18:24 he says call ye on the name of your Gods that's plural and I will call on the name of the Lord that's singular and the god that anth by fire let him be God and all the people answered and said is well spoken we know the rest of the story they that called on the plural names of their gods called on their gods from the morning to the evening but yet no God that they called on gave any answer to them but Elijah would step out and pray a 58w prayer in the name of the Lord and God would send Fire and Rain and Revival to the nation of Israel the prophet Joel he prophesied we read about it in the book of Acts he prophesied knew very little of what he was prophesying about but Joel opened up in two Joel 2:32 Joel just simply said it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered for in Mount Zion in Jerusalem shall be Deliverance as the Lord has said and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call now this is very unusual Israel have no problem believing that when Israel would call upon the name of the Lord they would be delivered but the prophet Joel and that's this is where you and I us Gentiles are so thankful the prophet Joel simply introduced a word called whosoever and Joel said whosoever will call upon the name of the Lord shall be delivered can I tell you God is no respector of persons tonight God doesn't love me any more than he loves you tonight and that is what Mak him God tonight and he says and whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved we could read in Zephaniah Zephaniah the prophet chapter 3:9 Zephaniah begin to prophesy it's all through the Old Testament for then will I turn to the people of pure language that they may all call upon the name of the Lord to serve him with one consent do you do you see tonight as we weaving our way through the Old Testament how God is trying to lay the foundation hey my name is beautiful hey my name is my my my my name is important my name is powerful for the prophet Isaiah probably probably probably the most educated of all the prophets the prophet Isaiah would be the equivalent to a well-skilled lawyer in our day today but boy didn't God didn't God didn't God really give Isaiah the prophet a lot of things to say that science didn't back up man didn't understand for it was the prophet Isaiah that said in Isaiah 7:14 therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign I don't have any problem with that the Lord give a sign what is it Behold a virgin shall conceive bear a son Thou shalt call his name Emmanuel now there's where this polished brilliant minded man Isaiah probably stood there and babbled for a few moments what is this a virgin can't conceive if she conceived she's no longer a virgin but the Bible said that a virgin would conceive and and and and and they would call his name they would call his name Emmanuel we know that this prophecy was fulfilled in Matthew chapter one in verse number 23 when the angel said behold a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son and they shall call his name Emanuel that's going back to Isaiah 7:14 and here's the interpretation which being interpreted is God With Us who is the one the Virgin will be giving birth to God with us but Isaiah also uttered some more in Isaiah 9 and6 Isaiah said For unto us a child is born unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name see once again and I want to keep reiterating how God through through through through uh being repetitive God is keeping us telling us hey my name is important hey my name is beautiful hey pay attention to my name because the name of the Lord was their mediator all that Enos and the men around him had they didn't have a statue they didn't have a picture they didn't have kind of some building the mediator they had between them and God was his name that's what Abraham had that's what Elijah had that's what David had and now Isaiah For unto us a child is born unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name Shall be Called wonderful now that word wonderful can have reference back to the word Secret as a matter of fact the word secret can have its its founding in the word wonderful or wonder so his name Shall be Called wonderful counselor the Mighty God the Everlasting father the prince of peace and here it is a child is born a son is given Joseph is being instructed by the angel in Matthew chap 1 and verse number 20 Joseph is being instructed because Joseph was minded to put Mary away privately because Joseph believed that Mary had been unfaithful in their engagement time and Joseph was going to put her away but the Bible said in verse 20 but while he thought on these things behold the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream saying Joseph thou son of David fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife for that which is conceived in her is a the Holy Ghost and she shall bring forth a son go back to Isaiah 9:6 and she shall bring forth a son and thou shalt call his name Jesus for he shall save his people from their sin as a matter of fact the meaning of the name Jesus is simply Jehovah is salvation there's only one Jehovah there's only one Jehovah and that Jehovah has the name of Jesus and when Jesus was born in Bethlehem the man Christ Jesus and the deity that was within him was Jehovah is our Salvation Jehovah is our Salvation what a name Jesus you call his name you call his name Jesus Jehovah is salvation where did the name come from well the angel told Joseph to name him this but in Hebrews chapter 1 and verse number four we dive a little deeper we dive a little deeper into the name Hebrews chapter 1 and verse number four the Bible says being made so much better than the Angels now it's referencing Jesus Christ being made so much better than the angels as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they the Bible said that Jesus that he was made a little lower than the angels for the crowning of death but even though he was made lower he was given a more excellent Name he received the name he received the name from inheritance the man Christ Jesus received a name from inheritance where did the name come from Jesus Will Tell Us in John 5 and verse number 43 as he argued with the Pharisees that would not accept who he was he said in John 5:43 I am come in my father's name and you receive me not if another shall come in his own name him you will receive where did the name come from it came from God where did the name come from it came from our father it came from our creator the Bible said Jesus spoke and said I if another I have come in my father's name and you've not received me I have received my name from inheritance I have received this name it has been passed down it has been given from inheritance let's let's look at a couple of things here let's look at a couple things about the name the name was there before the con conception took place the name was there as part of the plan that was in the Eternal Mind Of God it's interesting there there there was always you can find Clues throughout the scripture that somehow they were hungry to know his name they were hungry to know his name Jacob is wrestled with the angel of the Lord the angel of the Lord yes there were times that the Lord Jehovah God took upon him a form of an Angel form and he's referred to as an angel of the Lord the angel of the lord we know that Jacob would later say I have seen God face to face and so Jacob there that night was wrestling with the angel of the Lord and in chapter 32 of Genesis verse number 29 Genesis 32 and 29 as they r wrestled the Bible says and Jacob asked him and said tell me I pray thee thy name and he said wherefore is it that thou Dost ask after my name in other words God just simply says to him why are you interested in my name why have you why have you asked after my name Jacob wasn't the only man to ever ask the angel of the Lord his name we know that when the angel came to Samson's mother and informed her of the birth of Samson that Samson's mother went and got her husband manoah and told manoah about the angel of the Lord manoah prepares an offering and in Judges chapter 13 and verse number 16 and the the angel of the Lord said unto manoah though thou detain me I will not eat of thy bread and if thou will offer a burnt offering thou must offer it unto the Lord for manoah knew not that it was an angel of the Lord and manoah said unto the angel of the Lord what is thy name that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honor watch this now and the angel of the Lord said unto him why askest Thou after my name seeing it is secret but remember what I told you the word wonderful or wonder can be tied off of the word secret and back and forth so in reality the angel said why are you asking after my name seeing that it is wonderful you see God in the fullness of time had a set time that an angel would deliver his name to a man named Joseph and he would tell a man named Joseph it's time to tell the name and he said you will call his name Jesus Jehovah is salvation you're going to call that name and I can't help but want to stop right here for a moment and just take oh thank God for that time in history that we're not like Jacob right now and we're not like manoah right now we're not trying to figure out what his name is I'm glad tonight that you and I are living in the highest dispensation of all that we know the name of Jesus could you just take a moment and if you love him and you you're thankful that you know the name of Jesus tonight oh I thank you and I praise you tonight I I thank you and I Praise You Jesus would be be teaching his disciples and it was about time for Jesus to go to the Cross give his life raise again from the dead on the third day and Ascend into heaven so he is preparing them for a time he is preparing them for a time that he will not be with them to where their five senses of touch feeling sight ears could hear it's coming a time that I'm I'm not going to be with you you're not going to be able to see me but he says in John 14:3 and whatsoever you shall ask in my name that will I do that the father may be glorified in the son if you shall ask anything in my name I will do it now I'm going to tell you you got to qualify this I'll take just a moment right here you got to qualify this this is not a scripture and a promise given to the carnal minded all right this is not well I ask him for a Corvette well I ask him for a big house well I ask him for all this this is not a promise given to the carnal minded this is get this is a promise given to those who are spiritual minded they're Kingdom Minded they see they understand they understand that the most important work you can be involved in is soul winning winning Souls being a witness because the time is short and and the Sun is setting on this day and time is going to be no more and everyone in this room tonight have a a soul that's going to live eternally somewhere and the choice is yours tonight but oh how I want you to fall in love with that name and the mission behind that name that you would fall and have a relationship with that man see the day is coming the day is coming I believe every prayer I've ever prayed to ask God to touch the heart of a sinner I believe God answered that prayer amen I believe every prayer that I prayed to ask God to visit a backslider a prodal I believe that God I believe that God has heard that prayer I believe every prayer that's ever been prayed with the Eternal Soul and the care of a soul and mind I believe that God heard that God heard that prayer whatever you ask in my name he's trying to get them ready matter of fact he told them he told them in the gospel he said up to this time you've asked nothing in my name he said up up to this time you've asked nothing in my name why would you ask the same reason they didn't fast they came to they came to the they came to Jesus and the the Pharisees did that love to fast and brag about it they came to Jesus and they said hey Jesus why don't your disciples fast why don't they fast and he said why do they need to fast as long as the bridegroom is here why would they need to fast but the days they'll fast will be when the bridegroom is taken away then they will Fast why did they have to ask anything in the name of Jesus when Jesus was right there to perform it he was right there but Jesus knew the day is coming when I shall Ascend and go into heaven and be there as a mediator and when that day comes they will run into situations I'm not going to be standing right there and they will have to have a connection with me and I'm so thankful that God has given us a connection with him that is just as powerful as if he was standing right here beside us tonight when we say Jesus name name Faith in that name brings the same power that was with the apostles when they lived in the book of Acts let's give him praise right now John Chapter 14 verse number 26 John chapter 14 pay very close attention to this verse here but the comforter which is the Holy Ghost whom the father will send and whose name in my name the comforter which is the Holy Ghost is coming in Jesus name the comforter which is the Holy Ghost will come in Jesus name let me give a let me give a warning tonight don't play around with Spirits don't play around with cards don't play around with horoscopes don't play around with crystals don't play around with any kind of widgie boards don't summon any spirit that doesn't come at the name of Jesus there are spirits and you can get in a whole world of trouble if you try to summon spirits that you don't have the power to overcome but Jesus said the comforter which is the Holy Ghost is going to come in my name man that's a spirit that I want man that's a spirit that I want inside of me for greater is he that is within you than he that is in the world that's what I want oh I feel him tonight don't you but the comforter which is the Holy Ghost whom the father will send in my name he shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance whatsoever I have told you go to John 15:26 but the comforter come on let me see if you're staying with me tonight Who's the comforter huh who's the comforter the comforter is the Holy Ghost but when the comforters come whom I will send unto you from the father boy that's a head scratcher ain't it because John 14:26 says but the but the comforter which is the Holy Ghost whom the father will send but John 15:26 says but when the comforter has come whom I will send from the father who's sending your you're right who's sending father send it that's right who's sending the son is sending that's right well brother C that's two no that's not two that's God and man that's the mediator son of man and deity Son of God whom the father will send in my name but when the but when the comforters come whom the father whom I will send unto you from the father even the spirit of Truth which proceeded from the father he shall test testify he shall testify of me Peter couldn't preach long in the book of Acts he couldn't preach long on that Pentecostal day when the Holy Ghost fell in Acts chapter 2 verse number 21 he had to say this is that which was spoken of by the prophet Joel and it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved uh brother Nichols asked me a question last night I taught this Bible lesson at several he said brother Carpenter he said some people go here and they say see there you don't have to be baptized you don't have to receive the Holy Ghost you just have to call on the name of the Lord I said you need to read that it didn't say whoever calls on the name of the Lord is saved shall and is is two different things is as I've got it shall is it's coming he said whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved I can make a 911 call right now but the police are not here till they get here right I shall call but they're not here because I shall call but I shall call is the beginning of summonsing them if you want salvation it starts with Jesus it starts with Jesus it continues with Jesus and it ends with Jesus because he said I am the alpha the Omega the beginning and the ending the first and the last acts chap 2 verse number 38 then Peter said unto them repent be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin look what happens after that and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost there's that name there's that spirit that comes they soon would discover that the name of Jesus could be used by them to raise a Man Who Would set by a gate called beautiful and Peter would say in Acts CH 3 verse number 6 then Peter said Silver and Gold Have I None but such as I have give I Thee in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk and we know we know that he did but he was happy he was bouncing around he was leaping and walking and praising God people were standing by with their mouths of gate people were standing by in great Wonder but oh didn't the religious people get upset because they have no explanation of why this man has sat begging for years and now he's walking and leaping and praising God and so in Acts chapter 4 verse number 7 the bible simply says they called them in they called Peter and John in and the Bible said and when they had set them in the midst of them they ask by what power or by what name have you done this and they begin to tell him they begin to say it is the name of Jesus and Acts 4:12 they Echo they echoed it in their minds when they said to that religious group of people neither is their salvation in any other I I don't know let me tell you the only thing will satisfy you is salvation stop looking for anything else to satisfy you the only thing that will satisfy your hungry soul is salvation this world doesn't have what what it would take to satisfy you for God's sake in the name of Jesus in the love of God stop looking for it out there and especially those of you that have tasted the Wonder and the beauty and the miraculous power and been touched by God why would you drink from the clearest River and live in the purest of atmosphere to walk out of these doors and go in the most vile Community to try to find don't you see people passing you on the way from the world into the church what are they saying it's not out there it's not out there there is salv there's salvation in any other there's no other name you hear me Church there's no other name under Heaven I don't know what you're waiting on I don't know what you're thinking is going to happen I don't know if you're thinking you're going to hit the lottery someday but the lottery won't make you happy there's salvation in no other name come on can we give him praise right now no other oh if I could shake salvation into some of you I'd get a hold of you tonight neither is there salvation in any other for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must there's your essential there's your essential we must be saved boy they wasn't happy about it they wasn't happy about it the Bible said in Acts chapter 5 this these same religious people got the apostles in Acts chap 5 verse number 40 man they're not happy about this and the Bible said to him they agreed they one one somebody in that group told the religious people said hey let's don't fight against it hey if this is of god let's don't fight against God if it's not of God it'll come to not and to him they agreed and when they had called the apostles and beaten them and beaten them they commanded them that they should do no more miracles they commanded them that they should reach and get no more cripples by the hand and raise them up they commanded them they should do no more miracles no they didn't care about the Miracles the only thing they said don't do they commanded them that they should not speak in the name of Jesus and they let them go and here's what I love we got to fall in love with this name I want to be Apostolic boy Apostolic how I'm going to raise the bar with being Apostolic because being Apostolic is more than believing in one God and more than being baptized in Jesus name and more than just receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and talking in tongues and have a alternate lifestyle from the world the name of the the being Apostolic is is to love the name of Jesus so much that when bad things happen to you that you rejoice and here's what they did they departed from the presence of the council rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name oh I want to live up to that oh I I want to live up to that they walked out with backs beaten they walked back out with bruised backs and bruised hands maybe and they started saying they wasn't saying is this what we get for preaching is this what we get for paying our ties is this what we get for dressing different is this what we get for all that we do for God no they didn't walk out like that they walked out say hey let me see your stripe on your back James man you got one all the way down your back here John look at that one that one goes all the way across and they begin to say thank you Jesus glory to God do you realize we were whipped for that name no wonder Jesus said blessed are ye and they shall persecute you and revile you and speak all manner of evil falsely against you for my name Shake Rejoice for your reward is great in heaven oh my friend I'm preaching so hot tonight every Road in Blunt count is going to be melted by the time I get done tonight I could take you down the road of baptism tonight there's not a baptism in the book of facts that wasn't done in the name of Jesus Christ every baptism from Acts 2 acts 8 acts 10 Acts 19 was all was all done was all done in the name of Jesus Christ in the name of Jesus Christ oh Paul oh Paul how I want to live how how how I want to strive for that name tonight how I want to strive for that name acts chap 21 verse number 13 they were all sitting around in a pro Prophet a prophet reached and got the belt of Paul evidently evidently as Paul sat down to dinner Paul took off a big wide belt and Paul hung it up a prophet went over a prophet went over sister Carpenter and he got this belt and he began to prophesy and he said whoever owns this belt everybody in the room knew it was Paul's belt said whoever owns this belt is going to go to Jerusalem going to be arrested going to be mistreated going to be mistreated going to be arrested Ed in Jerusalem going to be beaten whoever whoever whoever this belt belongs to and man that tore the room up they all knew it was Paul and they begin to cry and don't go to Jerusalem Paul and Paul answers them in Acts 21 verse number 13 then Paul answered what mean ye to weep and to break Mine Heart for I am ready not to be bound only but also to die at Jerusalem look at this will you read this with me for the name of the Lord Jesus oh we need to fall in love with that name young people young people Strong Tower we need to fall in love with that name Paul was saying oh stop crying you're breaking my heart that you're crying for me I am not only willing to go to Jerusalem and
