Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
The reading: a mother on the rock
- He reads 2 Samuel 21 from verse 10: Ryzbah the daughter of Aaya took sackcloth and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day nor the beasts of the field by night.
- David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabish Gilead, and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged, and buried them in the country of Benjamin in Zela.
- They performed all that the king commanded, and after that God was intreated for the land.
- He announces his Mother's Day message: the king's upgrade.
Scriptures: 2 Samuel 21:10-14
How Saul's sin reached David's famine
- He tells the Gibeonites' history: a people dwelling in Canaan who had heard everything God was doing for Israel, the Red Sea, the Jordan, the manna, and Jericho's walls fallen flat, and who knew Joshua's army was marching toward their city and would defeat them.
- They came in deception, dressed in old clothes with moldy bread and old wine bottles, claiming to have come from a far country, and Israel made a league with them because, as the one little scripture says, they sought not counsel at God.
- About three days later the deception was found out; the elders kept the oath they had made, but made the Gibeonites hewers of wood and drawers of water for the house of God and for the children of Israel, so that every sight of them carrying water or wood would remind Israel of the mistake it had made.
- He deviates to say that sometimes the motivating factor of praise and worship should be the mistakes we have made in the past, and that it is time our mistakes and sins started serving us instead of us serving our past.
- He turns the clock four hundred years: Saul, Israel's first king, ordered the death of many of the Gibeonites although the league was four hundred years old; judgment for a sinful act is not always immediate, but God keeps a mighty fine record book.
A mother's four months
- David comes to the kingdom and the land suffers a famine for twelve months, then a second year, then a third; David inquires of God and hears that the famine is because of what Saul did to the Gibeonites.
- The Gibeonites refuse silver and gold and ask that seven sons of Saul be delivered to them to hang on the hill; two of the seven are the sons of Risba, and five are taken from Saul's other wives.
- For four months Risba sleeps on the sackcloth she spread on the rock, with a stick in her hand driving away the birds of the air by day and the wild beasts by night, because those are her boys: she had no control over their deaths, but she has a little control over their bodies.
- He says when God made mothers he made something on this earth unmatched in its love and care, and that no one has ever been on the rock doing something honorable for God without getting the attention of the king.
What an upgrade is
- He explains the upgrade: hotels and airlines track their faithful regular customers, and award them a bigger room with a better view, or a seat in comfort plus, and ultimately first class, where the seats are wider, sometimes recline all the way back, and the food is different.
- He tells of his own first-class upgrade, when the man beside him was offered white wine from the vineyards of South France with great ceremony, and he asked the stewardess for a diet Coke from Atlanta, Georgia.
- He says if Marriott can give an upgrade and Delta can give an upgrade, the King he serves sees every prayer ever prayed, every dollar ever given, and every time his people have worked on his house, and sometimes he just says it is time for an upgrade; he knows your name, you are not a number.
- He has come on this Mother's Day 2025 to speak to faithful mothers who have been serving God day in and day out, and he declares that 2025 is going to be the year of the king's upgrade.
Buried and planted
- The king's men take the sons of Risba down from the hill of curse, of shame, of reproach and condemnation, and bury them in a sepulchre in the land of Benjamin, and Benjamin means son of my right hand, son of my honor, and son of my power; it will be a sepulchre of honor.
- He sends the hearers to Romans, where Paul talks about baptism in water and uses two words: he said buried with him in baptism, and then he says if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death.
- Both are true: our sins are buried, our condemnation is buried, our shame and our past life are buried; but the new man is planted, and the new life is planted.
Scriptures: Romans 6:4-5
Women who see tomorrow
- He tells of the woman who came into the presence of Jesus and poured oil on his head; to some it was a waste of time and a tremendous waste of money, but Jesus, the King, said leave her alone, she has greater insight than you do, for she has seen my burial, and wherever the gospel is preached her act will be told for a memorial unto her.
- He warns mothers to stop listening to a culture that is trying to define and redefine them and telling them they are wasting their time being a mother; being a mother is the greatest investment they will ever make.
- He singles out one faithful mother of the congregation, surrounded today by sons and daughters and sons-in-law and daughters-in-law involved in kingdom work, and tells her the King has seen her trouble, her tears, and her prayers, and is saying it is just about time to give her a king's upgrade.
The insurance check and the Christian school
- He has a picture brought of a 1972 Nova, his mother and father's brand new car, the only new car he ever remembers his parents owning, bought at Reader Chevrolet on Clinton Highway, his mother's pride and joy with a black vinyl roof that was extra.
- His mother tore up just about the whole side of that car, and until it could be fixed the door had to be wired up so it would stay shut; she got an insurance check that would make the car like brand new when it rolled out of the body shop.
- But his mother heard about a Christian school that had started over at First Apostolic, and she told his father John that the insurance check would pay one full year of tuition for Kenny and Jerry to go to that school, with their books and clothes; the boys had already started going down the wrong road, experimenting with drugs and thievery.
- His mother made the choice of the school over the car; they went there in September of that year, 1977, and on February 16th of 1978 God baptized him with the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and he was baptized in Jesus' name.
- His mother, Ruby Carpenter, and Sister Ammons' mother, Sister Naomi Kerson, took a bunch of kids in the van to their first camp meeting in Kingsport; the two women are now laid to rest in the same cemetery.
The close: prayer for the mothers
- He asks every mother, every soon-to-be mother, and every want-to-be mother to come to the altar, and prays over them for strength, wisdom, knowledge, and determination, rebuking in the name of Jesus the spirit of the age and of the culture that would redefine the women, the wives, and the mothers.
- He declares that there is a king's upgrade coming to their lives: their children that are living in shame are about to live in salvation, and their children that are living in reproach are about to live in redemption; pray, mama, pray.
- He says he can think of no better way to end the Mother's Day 2025 celebration than that a mother who dedicated a child that morning also understands her need to be water baptized in Jesus' name: something is going to be buried, but something is going to be planted today.

If you have your Bibles and would stand with me today in honor of the reading of God's word, no service would be complete without going to God's holy word. Amen. Anybody relate to that song strong today? Second book of Samuel, chapter number 21. We'll begin reading at verse number 10. 2 Samuel chapter 21 verse number 10. Praise team choir. Absolutely awesome today. Thank you for preparing a way that we can come into the presence of God. Verse number 10. And Ryzbah the daughter of Aaya took sackcloth and spread it for her for her upon the rock from the beginning of the harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day nor the beast of the field by night. And it was told David what Rizbah the daughter of Aaya the concubine of Saul had done. David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabish Gilead which had stolen them from the streets of Bean where the Philistines had hanged them when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa. And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son. And they gathered the bones of them that were hanged. And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin and Zela in the suppler of Kish's father. They performed all that the king commanded. After that, God was intreated for the land. For a few moments today on Mother's Day, I want to preach on the king's upgrade. The king's upgrade. If you're going to help me preach today, if you're going to help me re if you're going to help me preach and help yourself receive the word of God, would you just lift up a voice of prayer right now? Father, we love you, Lord. We thank you, God, for your word. We thank you, Lord, for how you're going to speak to us, Lord. Now, we have spoken to you by praise and worship, but now, God, you're going to speak to us, Lord, through your word. You're going to speak to us, God. You're going to speak to our hearts today. You're going to change our lives. We're going to take something home with us today. In Jesus mighty name we pray. Amen. And amen. You may be seated today. The king's the king's upgrade. the king's upgrade. Let me give you a little background about the story. King Saul and their sons, his sons, their lives ended in tragedy and shame and reproach. Their lives ended in defeat. King Saul along with his sons were taken by the enemy. Their bodies were never even given a decent burial. Their bodies were taking taken by the enemy and displayed through the streets of the enemy. Their bodies were hung up and their bones had been scattered without without a decent without a decent burial. There's a main character in my message today. It's a group of people called the Gibeonites. The Gibeonites. Let me share with you the history of the Gibeonites. The Gibeonites were not of the people of God. They were dwelling in Canaan land. And they were people that God had directed Joshua to expel from the land and take the cities of Canaan. It was the Gibeonites, a certain group of people that heard everything that God was doing for Israel. They they heard about Moses. They heard about the Red Sea being split. They heard about the Jordan River being divided. They heard about mana. They heard about all the provisions of God, their God. They heard of how that Joshua and Israel had circled surrounded Jericho and how Jericho's walls had miraculously fallen down flat. The Gibeonites knew that the people of God, Joshua's army, is marching toward their city of Giba. He knew that. They knew that. The inhabitants of Giba knew that Joshua and his army are coming. They will defeat us. We will be cast out. We will be slain. The Gibeonites came up with an unusual idea. It's the ideal of of deception. It's the ideal of deception. The Gibeonites knew that they could not fight with Israel and win. It could not overcome Israel's God. So the Gibeonites sent a group of men to them in a deceptive, deceiving manner. They dressed up in old clothes that looked like u they had traveled quite a distance. They somehow took bread and caused their bread to look moldy and old. They took bottles of wine and they once again somehow caused the bottles of wine to look old and the bread to look old and their their clothes to look old. And this group of men went out and met with Joshua and met with the children of Israel. Joshua said, "Who are you?" And they lied to Joshua. They told Joshua that we we have come from a far country. We have come from many miles away. We have heard about your God and we have come for you to make a league with us. Would you would you make a covenant with us? We we come in peace. Would you make a covenant with us? And um the Bible has one little scripture that says they looked at their food and they looked at the wine bottles and they looked at their clothing. And then that one short little verse it says, "And they sought not counsel at God." They didn't pray about it. They didn't ask God about it. They looked at the the clothes. They looked at everything and they said, "Sure, we will make a league with you. You will be as if you are our people. We will make a league for you." And then the Bible says about three days later, about three days later, you know, sometimes it just takes a few days to realize you've made the wrong decision. Three is the number of resurrection. I'm going to tell you something. It's either or when you make a right decision. Sometimes it takes time for that to resurrect and sometimes when you make the wrong decision it takes a little time for it to resurrect. And and so about three days later they come up on a city and lo and behold it was those same men. It was those same people and he said you you you you have deceived us. You you you told us that you were from a far country and here you're just right in our you're just right in our pathway. What are we going to do? The elders of Israel got together and they said, "We're in quite a dilemma. We should kill them. They should die. But we have made an oath that they can live. We we made an oath that they could live." And so they're they're they're in a quandry. What are we going to do? You're in the pathway. You're one of the cities that we should have. But but but we made an oath. Somehow Joshua come up, a genius came up with an idea. He said, "We need to keep our oath. We don't need to break our word. We don't need to be people representing a God that breaks his word. We need to be people that represent a God that keeps his word. But said, because you have deceived us, we are going to honor the word. We will not take your lives, but we're going to make you, heers of wood, and drawers of water for the house of God and for the children of Israel. In in other words, every time you see that Gibbeonite come walking with cool, refreshing water, you're going to be reminded of a mistake that you made. Every time you see the fire burning bright on the altar, you're going to be reminded the wood was brought there by the mistake that I made. And if I could just deviate from my notes for a moment today, can I tell you sometimes the motivating factor of praise and worship should be the mistakes that we have made in the past. And it's time that our mistakes and our sins start serving us instead of us serving our past. I'm going to lift my hands today because I've made some mistakes in my life. I I'm going to stay close to the altar today. Well, well, let me let me let me keep on going. I don't want to get sidetracked today. So, he said, "We're going to make you hearers of wood and drawers of water. You'll become acquainted with the people of God. The people of God will become acquainted with you. You're going to live." And you know what? When they looked at their option, it's either death or drawing water. They didn't take them much time to make that decision. When they looked at their option, it was either it was either death or cutting down wood. It didn't take long. It didn't take long for them to make the right decision. Now, follow me now. Turn the clock. Not a hundred years. Turn the clock. Not 200 years. Turn the clock. Not 300 years, but turn the clock 400 years. 400 years Israel's first king comes to power. He's got an ego as big as Mount Rushmore. He's Saul. He wants to show his muscles off. So what does he do? He says, "You know, those Gibeonites don't belong with us. They're really not part of Israel." And so Saul ordered the death of many of the Gibeonites. He ordered their death. Although there had been a league that was 400 years old, Saul ordered their death. Time went on because you do realize that sometimes when a sinful act is committed, judgment is not always immediately. It's not always immediately. And some people get a false sense that they can do certain things and because something didn't happen the next day or the next week that it must have been okay. But can I tell you today that God keeps a mighty fine record book, good or bad, God keeps a good record. David comes, Saul is slain. I I spoke to you about his bones and the defeat. Saul is slain and David comes to the kingdom. He's Israel's second king. And there he comes and few years he's there and something begin to happen. They had a famine for 12 months. They had a drought. They had a famine. They had a lack of food. Crops are not growing like they should. Rain is not falling like it should. We've got a famine for 12 months. And then when those 12 months were over, they might have thought it's just a freak of weather. It's just something that's happened with the weather patterns. But the second year, they had a famine. The third year they had a famine. And finally, David knew that something's up with God. Something's up with God. And so, David goes into the presence of God. And David begins to say, "God, what's up? Why are we suffering from a famine for three long years now? Why are we in this situation?" And God spoke back to David and said, "Because of what Saul did the to the Gibeonites. You have a famine because of what Saul broke that league with the Gibeonites." And then David went down to the Gibeonites. And David asked the Gibeonites, he said, 'We did wrong. Israel's first king did wrong in that he attacked you. Israel's first king did wrong and that he expelled you from the city. Israel's first king did wrong and that he took your life. What would you like for payment? Silver, gold? What would you like out of the treasuries of Israel? What would you desire? And they spoke back and they said, "We want neither silver nor gold, but what we desire is that seven sons of Saul be delivered to us that we may hang their bodies on the hill." That we may hang their bodies on the hill. We're going to hang it. That place is also known as the curse. We want to take the seven seven sons of Saul. We want to hang their bodies up there to stand. And and if you'll give us the seven sons of Saul, Saul had a wife by the name of Risba. And unbelievable. Two of her sons were taken. Five others were taken from other wives. They were given and they were delivered and they were hung nailed to trees there on top of a hill. Their lives were taken. Decay, rot begin to set in. Animals would sense, would smell the decay of the flesh and animals would soon gather around. But that's where a little mama stepped into the picture. That's right. a woman by the name of Risba, mother of two of the bodies hanging there. The Bible says she takes sackloth. Now, that's not that's not silk. That's not a comfortable piece of garment. Sackloth is coarse and sackloth is uncomfortable. She takes she takes sackloth and if you read the scripture with me today, it didn't say she put it on a rock. But it says, brother Ericson, she spread out the sackloth on the rock. On the rock. There's a rock common and there's the rock. She put it on the rock. And there for four months, unimaginable. There for four months. You just read your Bible and you read where she was there day and night for four months. You just lay your Bible down and you try to get in that mindset. Here is a mother that has no control over the death of her two sons, but she feels like she's got a little control to somehow keep the wild beast off of them. and the birds of the air. For four long months, she slept on sackcloth on the rock. For four long months, it was long nights, it was long days. For four long months, she watched, got very little sleep as she would drive away the wild beasts by night, and she would drive away the birds of the air, the prey that would come down by day. She spent her time with a stick in her hand driving away because those are my boys there. Those are my two sons. I I have no control over their lives, but I do have a little control now over their body. And let me tell you something. You have never been on the rock and done anything honorable for God that doesn't get the attention of the king. that doesn't get the attention of the king for four months. She probably felt like Sister Thompson, she probably felt like she was forgotten for four months. Day and night, she shooted away animals. I can see her now. She doesn't look in the best. She possibly not even bathed and and possibly her clothes and and there her eyes are bloodshot. But somehow them's my boys up there. There's my boys up there. I'm going to tell you something. When God made mothers, he made something on this earth that is unmatched with their love and their care. There is nothing that can match on this earth other than the love of God, the love of a mother. Four months, but she gets the attention of the king. And the king says, "I think I believe it's time for an upgrade." I believe it's time for an upgrade. I I I believe that it's time you you you said, "What did that woman What's that woman been doing?" Oh, yes. I remember four months giving permission to take seven sons of Saul and hang them up. I remember that. You're telling me for four months this woman has been day and night fighting away wild beasts. And David said, "It's time to give her an upgrade." Now, let me make you familiar with what an upgrade is. An upgrade can be referred to if you frequently stay at hotels and you become a member and they keep track of your they keep track of how many times you come to the hotel, how many times you use their hotel. And then you get a little privilege status because you have been a faithful regular customer. You have been in there day in and day out. And they say, "We want to award you with an upgrade. We're going to, you know, well, I know we've give you I I know you're here at this nice hotel and but uh uh we're going to upgrade you and and and we're going to give you a a we're going to give you a room that's got a a mountain view or we're going to it's it's a bigger room. No, most time you get an upgrade. It's a bigger room and and and it's got a better view. I It's just It's just an upgrade. But you only get an upgrade if you've been a regular faithful customer. I've come on this Mother's Day 2025 to speak into the lives of some faithful mothers here that have been serving God day in and day out. And I have come to tell you that the king has taken notice of you. The king has seen every time you've walked into this church day in and day out. The king has seen when you have brought your tears and your brokenness to this altar. The king has seen when you have come in, you have come into the house of God. I'm going to tell you something. There's something special about mothers. That's right. I I'm just I'm just going to tell you I made a rookie, Brother Bingham, I made a rookie mistake. I hadn't been pastoring long and I made a rookie mistake of p when I said something. I had I was preaching about mothers and everything and and and I had all the ladies just eating out of my hand until I made this idiotic statement. I said, "These women that are pregnant acting like it's oh so tough to be pregnant." I said, "Come on, it's not that tough." It was like I have never I have never made that statement again. I remember being at a youth rally one night. I wasn't preaching. I was sitting back with a role of our kids. Some of them were our kids, our our our our grandkids, and some were I think some of Sister Hawkins grandkids or whatever. Just a whole roll. And they said, 'We got to get up in the choir. We got to get up in the choir. Can you watch the kids? Oh, sure. I can watch the kids. Sure. They get up in the choir, get singing, poking me inside. Got to go to the bathroom. No, you don't. You need to wait. Sit back down. Then they poke me the side. Tears streaming down their face. I need to go to the bathroom. I told my wife, I said, "When y'all left, I believe devils entered that pew." I It It was like, it was But again, it's not the easiest job in the world to be a mother. It's not the easiest job in the in the world for God to have deposited in your your heart the great love of God. But I'm here to tell you today, I have come and you may call it prophetic, whatever you want to call it, but I just believe in my spirit that the king has said, they've been faithful. They've been coming day in and day out. They've been praying. They've been believing. And they've been trusting. And I want you to tell them that 2025 is going to be the year of the kings upgrade. If you ever you're a member of one of the airlines, Delta, American United, Allegant, you'll know that you fly, you get an upgrade. You fly more, you get more upgrades. And then the ultimate upgrade. Oh, the ultimate. But see, you what you do, you buy a coach seat. You're you're just faithful riding in the back. You you know, you're you're in row 9,043. that's what role you're on. All right? You you just buy a coach ticket. It's it's it's it's there. But I'm a testimony that if you'll buy enough coach seats that you start getting your first upgrade, comfort plus. A and and and you get you don't know when you're going to get them. Sometimes you don't know until you're you're getting on the plane and you scan the boarding pass and all of a sudden a little ticket comes up and I know what it's going to be. I'm going from row 9004. I'm going up to comfort plus. Comfort plus. And this is the truth now. The seats have a little more cushion in them. They're a little bit wider and they're always closer to the front. But oh, the golden egg is when you get that little slip of paper. They even know your name. They'll say, you see, when you just go through coach, you just say, "Go ahead. Number 9,943. Go ahead. But when you get that first class upgrade, they say, "Mr. Carpenter, we are so thankful that you are a faithful member. We're so thankful. Here is your complimentary upgrade first class." And I'm going to tell you, it's a whole new world in first class. Seats are wider. Sometimes they recline all the way back. And you you you get different food. This is just the truth. You get different food in first class than you do in row 9,043. All right. Sitting there the other day. Just thought I'd have some fun. Didn't have such a carpenter with me joking around. And as we I got upgrade first class and as a guy beside me and the stewardist came and Mr. So and so would you like something to drink? He said, "Um, do you have white wine?" And she said, "White or red?" "Oh, it's from the vineyards of South France. It's a it's it's" And then they went into all this, uh, you know, stuff. And I thought, "I'm going to have a little fun right now." And uh, they were getting white wine from the southern vineyards of France. And she said, "Mr. Carpenter, what would you like to drink?" I said, "I'd like a diet coke from Atlanta, Georgia." That's Can I tell you that if Marriott can give you an upgrade and if Delta can give you an upgrade, I serve a king today that sees me being faithful. I serve a king today that sees every prayer I've ever prayed. I serve a king today that sees every dollar I've ever given. I serve a king today that sees every time I've ever worked on his house and sometimes he just says it's time for an upgrade. I know your name. Come on, mama. He knows your name right now. You're not a number. You're a name. He knows who you are. Can you imagine? Can you imagine Risba? She's fighting off. She's fighting off animals and birds and all of a sudden fancy chariots pull up to a gruesome sight. Bodies that have rot, decayed. A mama that possibly can't stand any longer to look up. She just knows to beat the beast away. All of a sudden, these fancy chariots show up and soldiers get out and she thinks, "What are they here for?" And they say, "Rizma, you have gotten you have gotten the attention of the king and it's time to give you an upgrade because the king has said, "We're taking your boy's bodies down from this heel. We're taking your boy's bodies down from the heel of curse. We're taking your boy's bodies down from the heel of shame. We're taking your boys bodies down from the heel of reproach and condemnation. Where are you going to take my boys? We're going to take them to a supplr in the land of Benjamin. And Benjamin is not curse, but the name Benjamin means son of my right hand, son of my honor, and son of my power. Your two boys are not going to be looked upon shamefully and condemnation and reproach, but we're going to put them in a suppler. And when we bury them in that suppler, none of this reproach will be there. It'll be a suppler of honor. It will be a suppler of honor. Can I tell you that that's what happens to us? If you would read uh maybe today sometime read in Romans where Paul talks about baptism in water. He talks about baptism in water and he uses two words. He said buried with him in baptism. And then he says if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death. Come on Paul. Which is it? Are we buried in baptism or are we planted in baptism? Both. Our sins are buried. Our condemnation is buried. Our shame is buried. Our past life is buried. But what is planted? The new man is planted. The new life is planted. I've been here for four months beating away beasts. But in a few months, I'm going to walk by a marble suppl where I'll be able to say, "These are where my boys were buried. These are where my boys are buried." Can you say, "Amen." Comfortable seat. I guarantee you, Rizma got a comfortable seat in the land of Benjamin. Rizma went home, took care of herself because now my boys have a decent burial place. You know, I'm coming to a close today. I'm coming to a close today. But you know, there's women in the Bible that were very faithful to God. Very faithful to God. One woman in particular I'd like to tell you about. One woman in particular. And I I look around here and I see so many women that have a story to tell. And u I just think some of them I just think I think they need to be mentioned today. I look back and I see our dear, precious, sweet sister Beriac here today. What a faithful woman of God. I've been privileged to be her pastor now for several years. She's surrounded today with sons and daughters and son-in-laws and daughter-in-laws. What a wonderful woman of God you are, Sister Berriak. One of your daughters, uh his your son-in-law is in our service, our Hispanic service preaching right now as I'm preaching, he's here. Your your daughter Becca has been a wonderful gift from God. All of your children, Chris and all of them are involved in kingdom work. You know, I think we all just take a moment and give Mother Beriac a hand. Sister Berak, listen to you, pastor. Today, the King has seen all your trouble. The King has seen your tears. The King has heard your prayers. The King has seen you beating off depression and things off of your life. And the King is saying today, "It's just about time. I need to go down to Mville and I need to give her a king's upgrade because she has been faithful to me. I better stop. I better stop right there. It was a woman that came in. It was a woman that came in the presence of Jesus and poured oil on his head, his feet. To some, it was a waste of time and it was a tremendous waste of money to some. Mothers, I got news for you today. Stop listening to our culture that's trying to define and redefine you. Stop listening to people today that are telling you you're wasting your time to be a mother. Being a mother is the greatest investment you'll ever make in all of your life to be a mother. She poured the oil out on top of his head. The oil dripped down his body. The smell filled the room and the culture, the woke of that day. What a waste. What a waste. What a waste this could have been. So, this could have been given. Jesus said, the king, he said, "Leave her alone. She has greater insight than you do. You can't see past the next minute. But this woman has seen my burial. She has seen my crucifixion. This woman has the perception that she can see tomorrow. Oh, mothers. What a wonderful thing it is for mothers to be able to see not just today, but mothers can see if I just keep bringing my children to church. If I just keep coming to the house of God, if I just keep bringing them to the prayer meetings, if I just keep bringing them around the house of God, I know I've had to get a second job to afford school tuition. If I could just keep bringing them the first grade, the second grade, the third grade, and all of a sudden, mothers look back one day and they see these wonderful men and women of God that have grown up, and the mother knows, it was the investment that I made. Jesus said, "Leave her alone. She sees further than you see. She's seen my burial." And I say that wherever the gospel is preached, that the act of anointing me with oil shall be told for a memorial unto her. I just fulfilled scripture. 2,000 years ago, Jesus said, "There'll be people that'll be telling your story." I think today, Brother Ericson, I under Bish Bishop Shave's Pew is a picture that I'd like for you to bring, Brother Wally Hannah. after a sermon after a message I preached. That's a picture of a 1972 Nova was my mother and father's brand new car. My mother and father's brand new car. Matter of fact, it's the only new car I ever remembered my parents ever owning. It was my It was my mother's pride and joy that new car. Neighbors came, looked at my mother's new car. We got his kids to smell that aroma of a new car smell for at least a week or two. His mom's car, his mom's pride and joy. They they pegged cash for it. They bought it at Reader Chevrolet on Clinton Highway. They brought it home. It had a It had a an add-on to it. It had an add-on. It had a black vinyl roof on it. That was extra. Mom was so proud of that car. But she had two boys, one Kenny and one Jerry. And we had already started going down the wrong road in life. We'd already started experimenting with drugs and thievery and what have you. My mom car pulled into the side of my mother on merchants driving, took out just about the whole side of the car. Matter of fact, till they could get it fixed, the door had to be wired up so it would stay shut. Big gash all the way down the side. My mama, who's in her grade today, got an insurance check to fix that car. Miss Carpenter, we're going to make that car like brand new. When it rolls off out of the body shop here at Reader Chevrolet, it'll be like brand new. But mama heard, Bishop Brown, mama heard about a Christian school that had started over at First Apostolic. And mama knew if my boys have any chance of turning their lives around, I got to get them in that Christian school. They went and got the paperwork and the tuition. I remember mom and dad talking about it. Dad said, "There's no way we can afford it." Mom said, "John, that insurance check that we got said that would pay one full year tuition for Kenny and Jerry to go to that school. That would pay one full school year of their books and clothes. That would that would pay it." My mom made the choice today of either having her brand new car repaired or taking a chance on putting her son Kenny and Jerry in a Christian school. Mama, if God's letting you listen from heaven today, I want to say thank you, Mama. I don't know where that old car is today. I don't I don't know what junkyard that old car is today, but I know when you laid that check down, you paid for my brother and I to go to that school. We went there in September of that year, 1977. But in February 16th of 1978, God baptized me with the baptism of the Holy Ghost. I was baptized in Jesus' name. Can I tell you something, mama? God's give us an upgrade today. God has given us an upgrade today. Will you stand with me right now? I see Sister Ammons over here. We went to church together in Knoxville. her mother, Sister Naomi Kerson. Her mother, Sister Naomi Kerson, and my mother, which at that time was Ruby Carpenter, took us on our first camp meeting to Kingsport in the van. Took us bunch of kids when when our first camp meeting. What would make two women in their right mind want to take a bunch of kids to camp meeting? What woman in their right mind? You You're not going to get any sleep cuz we kids that don't sleep at camp meetings. You get them hotel rooms don't put beds in there. They don't sleep. They're up. They're at it. My mother and Sister Hammond's mother are laid to rest in the same cemetery. The same cemetery. They're laid to rest. But could it be that myself nor one of your elders wives and all of the children that are blessed by the Ammons family and all the children that are blessed by our family. Could it be they would have never been here today had it not been for Arisbah that said give me some sackloth but put me on the rock. Would you bow your heads with me for a moment? Father I love you today. Father I magnify you today. Every mother, let's pray for our mothers right now. Let's men let this be a strong masculine voice. Let's pray over our mothers right now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, woo. In the name of Jesus, I pray over our mothers right now. God, in the name of Jesus, right now, God, thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Mothers, I would like to ask every mother if you would, every mother, come make their way to the altar right now. every mother, every soon to be mother, every wannabe mother, would you make your way to the altar right now? Would you would you make your way to the altar right now? Push up as close as you can to the altar. Father, in the name of Jesus, today I pray over our mothers. God, you see the toil that many of them are going through. God, you see the situations that many of them are going through. God, God, instill in our mothers today. God, instill in them directions for how to raise their children. God, instill in them, God, today, God, convictions, Lord, inside of them, Lord. Father, I rebuke in the name of Jesus Christ the spirit of the age, the spirit of the culture that would want to so redefine our women, our wives, our mothers today. I pray over them today in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. I pray over them right now in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Strength enter into them right now, Lord. Lord, let strength enter in into them right now, God. In the name of Jesus today. In the name of Jesus today. God, in the name of Jesus today, I pray. Mothers, would you lay your hand on each other today? Would you just put your hand over? Sisters, would you pray one for another right now? God, my children must be saved. God, I I I I've got to be the example to my children. I've got to sacrificially worship. I've got to sacrificially praise. I've got to sacrificially go. I I I've got to work for my children today. I've got to work for them today. I've got to work for them today. I've got to work for them today. Mighty God. Mighty God. Mighty God. Mighty God. Mothers. Oh, I pray over you mothers in the name of the Lord right now. I pray that God gives you wisdom and knowledge. I pray that God gift gifts you with determination. I pray that God would gift you and you would understand your high calling. You would understand your value in your home right now. Oh, pray. Mothers, pray right now. Come on. Why don't we pray in the spirit right now? There's something about mothers. There's something about mothers right now. There's a king's upgrade coming to your life. There's a king's upgrade right now. Your children that are living in shame are about to live in salvation. Your children that are living in reproach are about to live in redemption. Your children are coming home in the name of Jesus. Pray mama. Pray mama. Pray. I can't turn back now. I can't give up now. I got to keep on keeping on with my children. I can't stop now. I can't stop now. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. I can think of no better way to end our Mother's Day 2025 celebration than a mother that dedicated a child also understands her need to be waterbaptized in Jesus' name. Something is going to be buried, but something's going to be planted today.
