Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
Knowing of God, and knowing God
- His text is Paul in Philippians 3: what was gain to him as a Pharisee, he counted loss for Christ, and counted all things loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus his Lord.
- Paul still says 'that I may know him' — not that he has won Christ already, but that he may win him, be found in him, and know him and the power of his resurrection.
- Not as though already attained: Paul forgets what is behind, reaches for what is before, and presses toward the mark for the prize of the high calling.
- There is a difference between knowing of God — one Spirit, Father of creation, Son of redemption, Holy Ghost in the church, one hundred percent God and one hundred percent man — and knowing God, which is relational and never ends.
- The knowledge of God can be gained in a few Bible studies; knowing God is a relationship that has to be pursued, the way Paul turned and went after the Christ who had apprehended him.
- Pray for your pastor's word: if you feed people they will come — pray he always feeds you the word of God, and pray you always keep an appetite for it.
Scriptures: Philippians 3:7-16
Worship shows us ourselves
- Job, after all his suffering: I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear, but now mine eye seeth thee — wherefore I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes.
- Hearing the knowledge of God never showed Job himself; when he began to worship, he saw God for who he is and himself for who he was, and it led him to repentance.
- Isaiah in the year King Uzziah died saw the Lord high and lifted up, heard the seraphims cry holy, holy, holy, and said: woe is me, for I am undone, a man of unclean lips.
- Worship not only gives a greater vision of God; it shines the light back on our own blemishes, and that is why the flesh fights it.
- You cannot worship God consistently and keep bitterness, jealousy, hatred, unforgiveness, or gossip in your heart — worship lays the ax to the root of the tree.
Scriptures: Job 42:5; Isaiah 6:1-5
The blind man who came to worship
- Jesus passes a man blind from birth; the disciples ask who sinned, but sickness is the product of Adam's sin, and Jesus answers: neither — that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
- He spat, made clay, anointed the man's eyes, and sent him to wash in the pool of Siloam; the man obeyed without even knowing who Jesus was, and came seeing.
- The Pharisees had a knowledge of God but did not know God: they cared more about the Sabbath day than about the man, and there was a division among them.
- His parents, fearing to be put out of the synagogue, passed the question to their son: he is of age, ask him.
- The man answers: whether he be a sinner or no I know not; one thing I know, that whereas I was blind, now I see — and when they cast him out, Jesus found him.
- It is not recorded that he worshipped when he received his sight; when Jesus revealed himself as the Son of God, he believed — and he worshipped him.
Scriptures: John 9 (chapter, as spoken)
Put away the root of bitterness
- Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamour and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice; and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you.
- Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord — looking diligently lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.
- One person, singular, gets bitter — and many, plural, are defiled: a mother's bitterness at her pastor was all her unsaved son ever heard, and on his deathbed he refused the pastor's prayer.
- Ingrained bitterness is not cured in one prayer line; like treatment taken in doses, it takes worship after worship after worship until it no longer bothers you.
Scriptures: Ephesians 4:31-32; Hebrews 12:14-15
False worship and true
- Israel made a calf in horrib and worshipped the molten image; God said they had turned aside quickly and made a molten calf and worshipped it.
- When Moses came near the camp he saw the calf and the dancing — God himself connected dancing to that worship; shall we give less to our God than we once gave to the enemy?
- If bitterness can be generational, then praise can be generational and worship can be generational; put bitterness, jealousy, and anger on the altar.
- The church is not made of one man but of a team; the spiritual success of the house is not only the preaching of the word but the response of the word.
Scriptures: Psalm 106:19; Exodus 32:8; Exodus 32:19

hand tonight thank you so much thank you so much tonight Philippians chapter 3 and verse number seven not only am I thankful as pastor for a praise team worship but I'm thankful for a church that worships God and I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart tonight thank you for worshiping thank you for worshiping God Philippians chapter 3 verse number 7 the Apostle Paul says but what things were gained to me those I counted lost for Christ I'm going to stop right there but put your finger whatever in your Bible holy right there because we'll pray and then we're going to go back to reading father I love you tonight I thank you oh precious God I thank you Lord my heart is so overwhelmed with your presence God the sanctuary Lord to be able to come on a midweek service Lord and lift up praise to your holy name God you're worthy of all the praise God that we can give you tonight Lord I don't know what I'd ever do without you God your hand your touch your presence God I ask you tonight that you would anoint me and that I would Lord that I would Minister the word in Jesus name I pray amen amen you may be seated always pray for your pastor always pray for your pastor that don't pray for me to be in good health don't pray for the burdens I carry but do yourself a great favor pray for the word that I preach pray for the word pray that your pastor always gives you always gives you the word of God many of you may have seen me do this but I I I think that that creation kind of bears some things out but we have a pond behind our house and um I don't much care for the geese that are around they're uh they're beautiful creatures but if they would take that unsightly stuff with them when they leave I think you know what I'm talking about um but I will uh at the restaurant we eat at whether I eat bread or not I'll gather up the bread from the table have them put in a bag or a tray and I take it back and I stand on my deck I can stand on my deck and I can throw bread off of the deck into the pond and you'll just see the water start churning I mean it just kind of starts churning up the catfish and the fish that come and ever go to um Buddy's barbecue and uh they come around asking if you want extra Hush Puppies I say sure and I have ulterior motives I do want them I'm not lying I just want to feed them to my fish and uh I've got catfish in that I've got catfish in that pond that's so big you throw an entire hush puppy out there just one gulp they come up and and take it down I I tried to name some I've got one or two that I'm pretty sure is the same ones and Fred and Larry and I'm not necessarily so maybe Larry Sutton you know Fred Fred and Larry come see me um that uh I don't much care for the geese but I I sure do look I sure do like the the Ducks I I like the Ducks and I feed the the Ducks also and I promise you I'm going somewhere here um we have an alarm on our house that when I open our bedroom door out to the deck we have a little chime that goes off a little high pitch sound that goes off and um the Ducks don't wait till they see me on that porch when they hear that high-pitched sound they automatically you'll see them start coming across the pond and uh I just stand there and I I I I feed them as a matter of fact I saw something the other day I pulled up to check my mail and Here Come the Ducks from around they've even got my car identified and and and that's I'm just saying all right um and I stand there feeding those fish the other day in those ducks and I thought about pastoring you know if you'll feed people they'll come if you'll feed people they'll come if you if you feed them if you feed them they'll come as a matter of fact the music is a beautiful attraction just like that high-pitched sound identifies those Ducks it's time to eat I love praise and worship don't you because it just is telling me that the food's on the way and that we're going to eat and so when you pray for your pastor pray that I always feed you and pray that you always keep an appetite to want to be fed the word of God we're in a series on the Oneness of God and I was studying today and as I begin to study and begin to pray some thoughts came to my mind that I'd like to share with you tonight and the difference the difference in to know God to know God and to know of God there is a difference to know God to know God and to know of God to know that God is one and is by Essence a spirit to know him as the father of creation the son of redemption and the holy ghost in the church today or to know the Dual nature of Jesus Christ that he is 100 God and 100 percent man it falls under the category this is the knowing of God this is the knowing of God all of these things that I mentioned that God is one essence of spirit his father of creation son of redemption holy ghost in the church dual nature Son of God Son of Man 100 God 100 man this is knowing of God knowing of God but to know God is relational to know God is relational all right to know God to know God to know of him is to know that spirit Essence one 100 God 100 man but to know God is relational one can gain the knowledge of God now just hold on to me now one can know the knowledge of God as mentioned one Spirit father son Holy Ghost 100 God 100 man dual nature one can gain the knowledge of God as mentioned with a few Bible studies you can gain the knowledge of the Oneness of God in a few Bible studies in in a few Bible studies that can be given to you in just a few Bible studies but to know God is relational and it never ends it never it never ends the Apostle Paul writes a scripture that I open with tonight and of course the Apostle Paul has been converted the Apostle Paul has given up a life of a Pharisee and the reputation of being that Pharisee and the Apostle Paul the Apostle Paul is in the book of Philippians the Apostle Paul is comparing what he gave up what he gave up and he starts in Philippians 3 and verse number seven and he says but what things were gained to me those I counted lost for Christ now here's what he's saying he said all that I had accomplished as a Pharisee under the law he said I gave that all up and I counted it but lost verse 8. yea doubtless now let me explain what he's meaning here when he says yea doubtless he says I have never doubted I made the right decision I have never doubted that I made the right decision can somebody say Amen to that tonight tell you if you're in a good relationship with God you can say too I've never doubted I made the right decision not one time have I ever doubted yea doubtless I count all things but loss for the Excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and do count them but done that I may win Christ that I may win Christ now listen to me now Paul has the knowledge of God just like we have the knowledge of God in the godhead but Paul is wanting you and I to know that we need to always be striving to know God to have a relationship with God look how he says that I may win Christ not that I have won Christ past tense but that I may win Christ and be found in him not having my own righteousness which is of the law but that which is through the Faith of Christ the righteousness which is of god by faith that I may know him and I want you to really look at these verses Paul is saying that I may know him wait a minute Paul you had a miraculous conversion on the road to Damascus you saw a bright light You Heard a Voice you were knocked from your Beast all of these things but here's a man that's got it right he knows the knowledge of God he knows that God is Spirit he knows he's the father of creation the son of redemption the Holy Ghost he knows he's 100 man and 100 God but what Paul is striving for is that relational knowledge of him that I might know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his suffering being made conformable unto his death if by any means I might obtain unto the resurrection of the Dead not as though I had already attained he says now wait a minute don't anybody think that I've already arrived as a matter of fact one of the sure ways to lose out with God is to think there's no more room for improvement in your life that's one of the sure ways to lose out with God Paul says not as though I had already attained either were already perfect but I follow after you see that if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ let me tell you what the word apprehended means it means to be arrested it means to be arrested uh pulled over handcuffed arrested and he Likens it to Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus he said he arrested me he knocked me from that Beast he blinded my eyes he apprehended me he got after me conviction was in my life he stayed on me conviction was there but he says after he apprehended me and I said yes to him I turned it around and I went after him to apprehend him how many wants more of God in your life you want more of God in your life thank you for conviction thank you for knocking me off my beast but now God I am after you I am wanting to apprehend verse 13. brethren I count not myself to have apprehended but this one thing I do forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forth unto those things which are before I press toward the mark for the prize of the High Calling of God in Jesus Christ let us therefore as many as be perfect be thus minded and if any and if in in anything ye be otherwise-minded God shall reveal even this unto you here's what he says to the church he says if you're perfect and that just means maturing I just want to be maturing in God I want to be maturing in God he said when you're maturing in God you need to be thus minded what what does he mean by that you need to be after God you need to be going after him to apprehend him to him and then evidently People Are People regardless of the first century Church of the 21st century Church then he has to he has to address a group of people that feel no need to hunger after God that feel no need I mean they're just so content to know that God is one and God is a spirit and God is a father son the Holy Ghost titles and and and that that God is 100 God of 100 man they're just so content that they know how to baptize and that they know when you get the Holy Ghost you speak in tongues and that they know that you you dress this way you don't dress that way they're just contending that can I tell you something tonight that is the knowledge of God but that is not the knowledge that is not knowledge or knowing god because I have seen people just like I've described but inside their heart they were full of dead men's bones oh they could tell you how many gods there are but they can never lead you and help forgiveness they can never show the fruit of the spirit gentleness meekness kindness they could tell you they could tell you what name to go down in and I listen you all know I don't have to qualify what I believe tonight I believe the knowledge of God but I think it just is equally important that the people that have the knowledge of God need to be people that are seeking after God people that want God more inside of them than anything when they come to church the only thing on their mind sweet Jesus I want to love you I want to praise you God I want to magnify your name God I want to know more of you come on let's give him some praise right now you see a knowledge of God helps me to see God but wanting to know God helps me to see myself because listen one reason your flesh fights worship is that when you worship God you not only see him but it'll let God allows you to see you blemishes in all blemishes and all you see sometimes it's a whole lot better just to be able to tell somebody how many gods there are I want name to go down in and all of that but when we begin to worship the light shines back on me and I begin to see my need of change I begin I begin to see how I need to change let's look at Job chapter Job chapter 42. and verse number 5 Job chapter Job chapter 42 and verse number 5. can you say Amen listen to job after all of his suffering after all of his suffering 42 and verse number 5. job says God I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear I've heard of thee by the hearing of the ear but now my eye seeth thee wherefore I abhor myself and repent in dust and Ashes now this is what job's saying I've heard a lot about you God I heard a lot about you through my ears had somebody told me a lot about the knowledge of God they told me about you God but somewhere I begin to worship God and when I begin to worship God worship is not hearing with your ear worship is seeing God for who he is and you can't worship God for who he is without seeing yourself for who you are job said I heard of you for a long time but just hearing the knowledge of God never cause me to see myself in the light that I should see myself but God when I begin to worship you then God I begin to see myself in the light and I didn't like what I sing I didn't like what I seen and he said it led me to repentance in dust and Ashes it's not only happened in the Book of Job but it also happened in the book of Isaiah chapter 6 and verse number one in Isaiah chapter 6 and verse number one it says in the year that King Uzziah died listen to Isaiah the prophet talk in the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne high and lifted up and his train filled the temple above it stood the seraphims each one had six wings with Twain he covered his face with Twain he covered his feet with 20 to fly one cried into another and said holy holy holy is the Lord of hosts the whole earth is full of his glory post of the door moves at the voice of him that cried and the house was filled with smoke then said I woe is me for I am undone because I am a man of unclean lips I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips for mine eyes have seen the king the Lord of hosts you see this worship causes us not only to see our God in his splendor but it causes us to see who we are in our wretchedness and any time we begin to have confidence in the flesh it is an indicator that we're leaning on the wrong thing but when Isaiah got a vision of God that's why I push you to worship that's why I will never accept you not worshiping God if I have to be in a few more have to be the ones pushing worship we're going to push worship I never wanted to get so comfortable around here that this is what you see as worship worship is not casual clapping look in the sky casual is not just standing casual is a man that realizes if I don't get a touch from God I can't make it another day worship is coming to the house of God and saying you're not a spare tire you're not something I can live with or without God I need you in my life yeah that's what worship sounds like that's what worship sounds like can I tell you tonight put your feet out for just a moment I'm going to step on some toes and maybe some I want but the people that no ever fought in this church are more than likely not worshipers the people that the people that can tell you ever blemish that somebody else has is a person that's not a worshiper because if you're truly a worshiper you've got your eyes on your own blemishes and I promise you all of us have enough spiritual blemishes to do us we don't need to import anybody else's blemishes oh come on I wish somebody just really really praise him right now when I see the Lord it makes me don't want to say God I'm undone not he's undone not she's undone I'm undone God I'm the one that's undone it is possible to have the knowledge of God without a relationship with God he said we'll build a carpenter you don't you don't understand I have a testimonial do you I'm glad you do but God can actually touch you and you still not know him you still not know him let me let me just quickly go to John chapter 9 with me for a moment just quickly John chapter 9. I'm going to read this story in John chapter 9 verse number one somebody give a hearty amen right now John chapter 9 verse number one and as Jesus passed by he saw a man which was blind from his birth his disciples asked him saying master who did Sin this man or his parents that he was born blind you see those disciples have got a lot of work because anytime they see sickness or problems the first thing they want to say is who did Sin who did Sin who did Sin who did Sin this manner is his parents he was born blind the truth the matter is some have even taught that Jesus allowed him to be born blind so that he could work a miracle we have to understand one thing tonight all physical sickness all physical issues that we have is humanity is a product of a three-letter word s i n say well I you know that person's in church that person's in church they're such a good lady such a good woman such a good man but they got cancer Where's God no no no no don't go there because you've got to understand that our bodies are yet to be redeemed that's been had that's going to happen when I'm preaching on Sunday nights your body's not redeemed you're by you're you're because you're saved doesn't mean that God puts a stamp over you to keep you from diseases listen death awaits all of us and I know I'm gonna have to seat you after that congre you know I know that just makes you want to go out and buy the uh well I'll date myself this CD or DVD of this service you know it's the God's honest truth has nothing to do with what did they do it was what Adam did and because Adam comes Adam's sin sickness comes Jesus answered verse three neither had this man sinned nor his parents but that the works of God should be made manifest I must work the works of him that sent me while his day the night cometh when no man can work as long as I am in the world I am the light of the world when he had thus spoken he spat on the ground made clay of the spittle and he Anointed The Eyes of the blind man with the clay now obviously the blind man correct is hearing this conversation right the Blind Man's hearing the conversation going on probably it's not the first time that he's heard somebody discuss sin and who sinned but then the spit clay and then the Bible says that Jesus Anointed The Eyes of the blind man with the clay and said unto him go wash in the pool of Siloam which is by interpretation sin he went his way therefore and washed and came seeing the neighbors therefore and they that were before had they had seen him before the hymn that was blind said is not this he that said and beg some said this is he the others said he is like him but he said I am he man that must have been somewhere of a conversation he walks into town seeing and Neighbors start saying hey that's the blind beggar no that just looks like him and then he speaks up and he says no no I'm him I'm him therefore said they unto him how were thine eyes open he answered and said a man that is called Jesus made clay anointed mine eyes and said unto me go to the pool of Siloam and wash and I went and washed and I received sight now look at this miracle this man doesn't know that Jesus is a son of God he doesn't know he doesn't know this this should tell us of the power of obedience that man could have told Jesus go wash in the pool of Salon hey don't you see you can see that I can't see but this man believed the word without even the perfect knowledge and he came back see verse 12. then said they unto him where is he he said I know not I don't know where how hey how would I know where he is I don't even know what he looks like get it and like good people they take him to the religious folks verse 13. they brought to the fairest they brought to the Pharisees him that of four time was blind and it was on the Sabbath day when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes then again the Pharisees now now let me let me pause here for a moment these Pharisees know there was one God you better believe they knew there was one God that these Pharisees have a knowledge of God you better believe they had a knowledge of God oh they had such a knowledge of God but they didn't know God boy there's a difference there's a difference then again verse 15 the Pharisees also asked him how he received his sight he said unto them he put clay up on my eyes and I washed and do seed therefore said some of the Pharisees this man speaking of Jesus this man is not of God because he keepeth not the Sabbath day you see one of the one of the ways and you got to have both but one of the ways you can tell you're oding on the knowledge of God in another not a not a not not knowing god is that you begin to care more about some Sabbath day than you do people I'm going to tell you something the more you know God the more compassionate you are toward people let me say it again the more you know God the more compassionate you are toward people you know why the more you know God the more you know yourself and if you'll be honest with yourself you'll be able to look at people and you'll be able to know that God brought you and God touched you and God forgave you they said this this man is not of God he's not of God because he keepeth not the Sabbath day others said how can a man that is a sinner do such Miracles and there was a division among them there were Pharisees saying he's not of God I know that he he he he healed this man and he can see now but that what's really important is and we keep a Sabbath day and others kept saying he can't be a sinner how could he how could he do such a miracle and be a sinner verse 17 they say unto the blind man again what sayest thou of him that he opened on eyes and he said and in other words they said what do you say about him and he said he's a prophet he's a prophet do you see this man this man doesn't have the full knowledge of God but he has this miracle but the Jews did not believe concerning him that he had been blind and received his sight until they called the parents of him that had received his sight now they said oh we don't believe you're who you say you are and they said well bring his mother and dad in here and they asked them saying is this your son whom you say was born blind how the undoath he now see his parents and this is more let me tell you something this is where religion can put fear in people's hearts his parents answered them and said we know that this is our son and that he was born blind but by what means he now seeth we know not or who have opened his eyes we know not he is of age ask him he shall speak for himself now I'm going to show you why they did the old-fashioned passing the book all right these words verse 22 these words spake his parents because they feared the Jews for the Jews had already agreed agreed already that if any man did confess that he was Christ he should be put out of the city you know what his mom and dad did they knew very well that Jesus had done the work they knew very well what Jesus had done but they were so fearful of what other people thought about them and what the Jews and that if any man confessed it was a Christ they would be put out of the synagogue that was their little social Gathering if you were excommunicated from the synagogue that meant you couldn't come and socialize and that meant if you owned a shoe shop nobody from the synagogue would shop at your shoe shop and that meant if you were you you just got excommunicated can you imagine giving birth to a child that's blind and a man named Jesus comes by and heals your son and he now can see I wouldn't care what anybody had to say about that throw me out of the synagogue this man has done more for me than anybody can I tell you all tonight don't live your life fearful of what other people think about you worship Jesus worship Jesus verse 23. therefore his parents is of age ask him then again everybody say again then again I don't know if they had a little officer at the synagogue they were I don't know they had chairs out beside the Pharisees office and the man was sitting out there in the hallway and they said come on back in he'd come back in then again called they the man that was blind and said to him give God the praise we know this man is a sinner he answered and said whether he be a sinner or no I know not one thing I know that whereas I was blind now I see then said they to him everybody said that next word what is that then said they to him kind of like it sounded like that's becoming a word here then said they to him again what did he do to thee how open he thine eyes he answered them I had told you already and you did not hear wherefore will you hear it again will ye also be his disciple he said this is the third time I've told you he's spit in the dirt made clay anointed in my eyes told me to go to the pool of Siloam I went and washed and got my son it's the third time that I've told you this and I'm going to tell you one more time and if I tell you one more time will you be his disciple also then they revived him and said Thou Art Thou Art his disciple but we are Moses's disciples we know that God spake unto Moses but as for this fella we know not from which he is the man answered and said unto them why herein is a marvelous thing that means a miracle that ye know that that ye know not from when she is and yet he hath opened my eyes now we know that God heareth not sinners but if any man be a worshiper of God and doeth his will him he heareth now this is the former blind man talking he's given a sermon since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind said have you ever heard of anybody born blind being healed if this man were not of God he could do nothing they answered and said unto him thou was altogether born in sin sins and thus thou teach us they were they they were insulted you're trying to teach us and they cast him out they excommunicated him Jesus heard that they had cast him out and when he had found him Jesus heard they throwed him out of the synagogue you know Jesus seems to be looking for folks that have been thought out Jesus is looking for folks Society is thrown to the curb if you're here tonight and you've been thrown to the curb you're in good company a lot of us were thrown to the curb but sitting on the curb Jesus came by and he found us you see when you know God you know that he's a he's a street sweeper he's walking the streets Jesus heard that they had cast him out and when he had found him he said unto him Dost thou believe on the Son of God listen to him now he he walks up to this man he says do you believe on the son of God he answered and said who is he Lord that I might believe on him and Jesus said unto him thou Hast both seen him and it is he that talk with with thee and he said Lord I believe but don't you leave those last words out brother Carpenter and he worshiped him can I tell you it's not recorded that the blind man worshiped when he got his sight he didn't worship when he come back but when he got a knowledge of who Jesus Christ is the Lord he began to worship God he began to worship God when he began to see that he's not like the Pharisees that will cast you out but he'll come walking down the street and find you sitting on the curb when Society is given up on you and people have turned their backs on on you and and people have turned you out and he's a god that'll come sit down and before it's over with he'll reveal himself to you and guess what you get to do in return you get to worship him oh you get to worship Him you get to live that man begin to lift up his voice that meant man begin to clap his hands that man began to worship he began to worship the Lord we fight worship as people because worship shines the light back on our blemishes it's better to cover up our blemishes you know what worship does don't you worship shines the light on where you ought to lay the ax worship shines the light on where you ought to put the ax to the root of the tree you see when you begin to worship God God shows you those roots you need to take care of you cannot worship God let me hear let me tell you you cannot worship God consistently and have bitterness in your heart you cannot worship God consistently and be overheard talking about another person and saying I don't know I just don't like them you cannot worship God and have bitterness in your heart I don't care how Justified you think you may be that's where you have to forgive them that have done you wrong you have to before they even come or if they will ever come and and say would you forgive me you have to go before God and you have to say God forgive them they know not what they do well why in the world would I want to do that I'll tell you why you want to do that because you can't worship God and have bitterness too you can't worship God the ax is laid at the root of the tree it's not it's in your personality it's not well it's just not my personality to want to lift my hands it's not in my person I didn't want to cry out it's not in my personality to do that no no it has nothing to do with your personality it has to do with your flesh that makes a final stand here in the church to tell you oh you can do that and hate your brother you can do this right here and be jealous of that dress or that car or that job you can do this right here and have hatred in your heart I I you know I sit over here because they sit over there that's a bunch of that's just foolishness you're you're you are absolutely wasting your life you're going to get old one day and look back over your life and the trophy you're going to carry that I had bitterness I got in here and out of here and I didn't have to shake their hand wow Mighty savior what an accomplishment you've done preaching you can't worship God and have bitterness you can't worship God and have jealousy you can't worship God and have hatred some amens will be appreciated you can't worship God and have bitterness you can't worship God and have jealousy you can't worship God and have hatred you can't worship God and have unforgiveness you can't worship God and have gossip you can't worship God and be a back by a backbiter you can't you can't worship God now I'm going to tell you I'm going to tell you what this church you've been raised on for some that have moved in here the last 10 15 years or so all right I'm going to tell you what that's been been raised on any time I preach on something it gets quiet I keep preaching on it to you a minute all right you're either going to amen this or you're going to stay home but I'm here to tell you you can't worship God and have bitterness in your heart you can't worship God and have jealousy in your heart you can't worship God and have a hatred in your heart you can't worship God and have unforgiveness in your heart you can't worship God and be judgmental about everything going on when you worship you not only gain a greater vision of God but you also receive a better image of yourself to work on the areas of life that need God when you worship God he reveals to you that you've got bitterness he reveals to you that you've got jealousy he reveals to you that you've got hatred he reveals to you that you've got unforgiveness and God's presence puts the acts at the root of the tree and if you listen none of this none of this run through the prayer line and get it over with there are some ingrained bitterness and some ingrained jealousy and some ingrained unforgiveness and some ingrained slander that's going to take more than a prayer line it's going to take consistent worship worship worship worship we've got we've got several people here at the church that have cancer and they're taking treatment for cancer they cannot their body will not allow them to take all the treatment at one time and they take it in doses they take it a week and skip a couple weeks and then another dose can I tell you one way to put cancer the jealousy of bitterness and hatred and unforgiveness is not once in a while have a move of God but every time we come to the house of God not just at the house of God but every day of your life in your prayer time if you limited God can help us if we'll worship if we will worship it's not the stain it's not going to come out with one Wednesday night worship it's going to take worship after worship after worship but after a while you're going to look around and it's not bothering you anymore it's not on you it's come on Worship the Lord right now Worship the Lord right now attack that bitterness attack that jealousy attack that hatred attack that unforgiveness Ephesians chapter 4 verse number 31 reads like this Ephesians 4 and verse number 31 let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice and be ye kind one to another tenderhearted forgiving one another even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you Hebrews 12 14. Hebrews chapter 12 14. follow peace with all men pursue it that's what that Greek word there follow means it means pursue it be looking for ways to make peace follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you and thereby many be defiled now I'm going to hang on that verse for a moment can I tell you why brother Carpenter cannot allow bitterness to get in my heart because it's not only going to defile me look at this the Bible says looking diligently lest any man fell with the grace of God lest any root of bitterness bring me up trouble you singular and thereby many be defiled plural you see a mom dad singular get bitter and before long you got kids that are bitter and you got grandkids that are bitter I'm reminded of a story a true event that happens somewhere in the world but a woman attended a Pentecostal Apostolic Church and when she came home she had every bitterness dispute about the pastor he was partial he was after money he's he showed special attention to this one and special attention to that one he's not fair in his dealings and that's all her unsaved only son only heard one day that son had a terrible accident he was rushed to the hospital hours from dying could barely speak a few words Mama frantically calls for Guess Who who you think she calls for to come to the hospital come on who did she call for to come to the hospital Pastor comes in begins to lay his hand on the forehead of that dying boy who did die a few hours later only for some of his last words to be don't you touch me don't you touch me my mama's told me all about you don't you touch me to hear that Mom on the other side of the bed no no no no son let him pray for you he's here to pray for I'm sorry Mama You've Done a loud bitterness to spring up in your heart and when you wanted to change the path your son already had it and he died a few hours later I wonder how different it might have been had that mother been a worshiper of God and anytime the enemy wants to plant seeds of hatred and bitterness we're plucking it up we're plucking it up I'm not going to wait till you become a mighty tree I'm not going to wait till you become a mighty plant I'm going to get out there in that flower bed and when you spring up I'm gonna get down and with two prayer fingers I'm gonna Puck you up I'm gonna why my family needs it come on tonight Church your family needs this tonight oh I know you know how many gods there are I know you know how the Father the Son of the Holy Ghost but I gotta get you to have a knowledge of God of knowledge come on worship God come on worship God come on worship God right now very quickly just very quickly I'm coming to a close Moses goes to the top of Mount Sinai to get the law Israel turns quickly and reverts back to the way they lived in Egypt they made a golden calf they made a golden calf in Psalms 106 13 says this Psalms 106 there excuse me Psalms 106 19 says this they made a calf in horrib and worshiped the molten image what did their worship look like what did their worship look like Exodus 32 and verse number 8. God says they have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them and they have made them a molding calf and have worshiped it and sacrificed there therein too and said these be thy Gods o Israel which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt verse 19 of the same chapter what does worship look like and it came to pass as soon as he had come nigh into the camp Moses saw the calf and the dancing and the dancing and Moses anger waxed hot he cast the tablets out of his hands and break them between them out can I tell you that God connected dancing to worship I said well that that's the that that's the that's those Egyptians would we want to give less to our God than what we gave to each there's one phrase and I remember the night it happened it was I remember the night I have not always been a dancer I have not always been I have not always danced before the Lord there was a time brother or in my walk with God that I didn't dance until one night Spencer McCool was preaching Revival at the Knoxville Church and he convicted me because he said it when you lived in the world if you got out on the Dance Floor and you danced and you won't dance now that you have the Holy Ghost and Buddy them old memories Kip of Governor's skating rink and 10 o'clock Friday night skates come off band comes in and they had the Midnight Special from 10 to midnight and we got out there on that skating rink floor and we did everything from the I mean we we did the Funky Chicken we did everything we I mean we got out there just bouncing around and having a good time God would give me the Holy Ghost and I'd sit on that Pew and one brother Spencer McCoo said that I got my heart out of that Pew and I got around it I said if I did that for the devil I'm going to do this for God if I did all this for the enemy if I did all this for the enemy I I'm gonna do this for God don't tell me why that's just not me to do that that's just not me to do that how excited do you get golfer when you get a hole in one oh come on I got you treating you know I do I said golfer how excited are you when you get a hole in one how many people do you tell about it how many people do you order and then you sit there like a bump on a log you come into church it you didn't do that when you shot that big buck you didn't do that when you pulled that 10 pound largemouth out of that Rick you didn't ah worship God worship God worship God come on tonight it's going to help you if you worship God God is your answer God is your deliverer God is your Waymaker worship God come on now what remain standing with me please well you know it's an hour and a half on Wednesday night sometimes it closes two hours Sunday morning and Sunday night is that right oh is that right college football watcher because I Googled today the average college football game lasts three hours and 42 minutes that's just the game that's not the two hours or the four hours that you left early to tailgate and that's not included in another couple hours to clean out a hundred and ten thousand people from a stadium and we would dare ever say anything about time oh well I just don't go all right I still go to church it's you know it's it's about right if they can dance to a golden calf I did a little research did a little research in 2012 my research is a decade old in 2012 the average drink at a bar seven dollars for the average drink and in case you would like to know if in a year you own a bar if in a year your bar sold ten thousand dollars worth of alcohol inventory ten thousand dollars you you purchase ten thousand dollars worth of alcohol that inventory generated fifty thousand dollars of sales then your beverage cost percentage is 20 percent which means eighty percent of your alcohol sales is gross profit that you hear alcoholics complaining I'm not going to go to that bar there this afternoon I I'm not going there they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're just after wait a minute let me ask you let me ask you since when do the bartenders all get together cook food when you've had a surgery put you down for a few weeks since when do the bartenders I said man here you're being rubbed exactly I don't even want to deal with the one I don't even want to deal with that Spirit tonight these people that need to get their sympathy button fixed they have sympathy for everybody I preach against oh God I just hope there's not a bartender here I hope there is that's where we differ that's where we just differ you know why it's not a pretty church service that's going to change somebody's life it's not some little philosophical teaching it's going to be worship when we begin to worship God they're going to walk in here and say man there's something different about this place God God is in this place there's something that church worship tonight worship tonight I can go through the gamut I could go through the gamut you said man you're up on us men tonight you're exactly right because we're the leaders but I could get on the women for a minute and say if you spend a lot of time before a mirror and you don't spend equal time in the prayer prayer room you can go get a little old bubble that gives you a tan is down in South America we're down South America preaching and brother there's we just got to talk of what they battle what we battle you know stop talking he said down here I said we're dark skin he said so our women go get treatment of bleach they rub bleach on their skin try to lighten up their skin try to lighten the color up I said Ah that's nothing up in America our light-skinned women we got these tubes called tanning beds so you're preaching is it I'm only preaching against it if you could spend more time primping than you can praise it can I tell you oh now I might just let me tell you I'm gonna give us one last opportunity before we just pray and go home to worship God just to worship God come on I believe that blind man I believe he got excited oh I believe he praised I believe he worshiped I will fight the spirit that tries to take our worship I will never settle down
