if you have your Bibles and would join me in the Book of Genesis the Book of Genesis 11 verse number 27 then we'll go into second Peter chapter 2 and verse 6-8 and again I join with all those that have greeted Our Guest here today and I'm so thankful to see you here um you know the little the little spill I'm about to give you at Spring break they line up text tell me we're going out of town Pastor we're going to be gone these these people around here if you're a guest here today you're you're in a church where these are the most faithful busiest hardworking people that you'd ever want to go to church with and anytime these saints of God get an opportunity to have a long weekend or a week off the school they go I mean like rats off a sinking ship they're gone I mean they're going every different direction but um I want to say yes I'm glad to have our guest here this morning I'm glad to have you here but most of all most of all please come back but most of all I'm glad to have the home folk here today because as it's been said if it wasn't for the home folk there'd be no folk and I'm glad for the home folk here this morning have your Bibles Genesis 11: 27 now these are the generations of tra tra begat Abram nahor and Heron and Heron begat lot everybody say lot lot second Peter 26-8 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemn them with an overthrow making them an example unto those that after should live ungodly and delivered just lot vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked for that righteous man for that righteous man dwelling among them in seeing and hearing vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful Deeds for a few moments today I want to minister something the lord gave me this week I want to minister to you on the legacy of lot the Legacy the legacy of lot precious God Of Heaven Lord we do thank you today for the wonderful Revival we've had this week and as brother fish has dug us up and Lord stir us up about prayer and soul winning and loving you Lord may we continue that this morning Lord touch all of our hearts that are here Lord help us God to be a little closer to you by the time this service is over today we'll give you praise and honor and glory for it belongs to you and no flesh shall glory in your presence in Jesus name we pray amen amen Give the Lord a hand of Praise before your seated right now would you oh clap your hands unto the Lord all you people the legacy of lot lot's father was the younger brother of Abraham Heron was his name we're not given uh any information as to the cause of the death of Lot's father heron we're not given the Bible doesn't give us any any information at all of as to why he died he was the he was the youngest of the three sons that had been mentioned and so when lot's father died when Heron died probably a young age it was then the responsibility of Lot's grandfather Tia Tia assumed the responsibility of raising lot taking care of him and providing him and on and on but then the Bible tells us that uh Tia tra also died and when Tia lot's grandfather died and get the we're going lot's father died lot's father died Heron and then his Grand father died which was Tia and the responsibility then went to Abram or we will know him in scripture as Father Abraham the friend of God it would be Abram Abraham's responsibility to take care of lot stop here and bring a point to us today no doubt that we can already see here this morning the instability would no doubt play a role in the early years of Lot's life would you not agree with that the instability uh that he was being raised in uh his father his father dies and then sometime later his grandfather dies and now he finds himself being raised by his uncle Abram instability would no doubt play a role in the early years of his life here's the situation with instability instability breeds anxiety anytime the environment is um is not stable anytime you you you just can't count on something day in and day out you've suffered the loss of your father and uh you had to readjust by being raised by your grandfather and then you had to readjust even after that of being raised Now by your by your uncle Abram no doubt in this climate or environment of instability instability can breed anxiety just follow this now instability can breed anxiety and anxiety can breed frustration and frustration can breed anger and anger can breed violence it's in this midst of instability today and I believe that we're given the Old Testament the Bible specifically says that we're given the Old Testament for our learning it's just not a history lesson I'm putting you through today there are things that we can extract from this story there's things that we can take away from the legacy of life we can bring it into our life because anytime there is instability that's why we have the church because the church has something that is stable the church has something that doesn't change the church as a matter of fact in the Bible the metaphor is used of God that he is a rock he is a rock you won't you won't find you'll find him walking on the waves of the sea but you won't find God being likened to a wave on the sea because the waves on the sea are Ever Changing oh no no no no when the Bible wants to present Our God to us it's not a it's not a uh it's not a God that's not stable a matter of fact in Psalms 18 and verse 2 look at this closely with me here's the writer wanting to describe God uh the Lord is my rock and my Fortress my deliverer my my God my strength in whom I will trust my buckler that's one that goes before and carries the weapon and the Horn of my salvation and my high tower I want to tell anyone today that could identify with the first few moments of the life of lot I want to tell you today your instability ends here today it ends right now because we're going to preach to you he is the rock of our Salvation I didn't stop stop there didn't stop there Psalm 62 and verse number 5 somebody praise him with me now somebody that's knows what it's like to live in instability but somehow you found the Rock and you're not living a life of instability anymore you know where you stand you know where you're going you know that's why let let me let me stop here just for a moment let me stop here just for a moment do you know why the atmosphere changed in here yes we were giving God praise but something happened when they begin to sing that ain't no great going to hold my body down because there's some in here that are closer to the Grave than than others but their faith is larger than others when you're young you think you're never going to die when you're young you you you you go get a checkup every five or six years and you're just fine but the older you get the checkups you can walk in smiling and you can you can walk out ringing your hands cu the doctor saw something and he's telling you something's here something's there and I'm not saying that we just have no feelings of of anxiety but I am saying in the midst of that whatever comes what our bodies are ever changing our bodies are in they're not stable they're Ever Changing they are ever they're ever I don't tell you you can go to Forever 21 but you ain't Forever 21 all right and you can go stand in the Gap all you want to but I I'm here to tell you today these old bodies are ever changing but I have found a rock I have found something and there Ain't No Grave going to hold my body down because this is my favorite part of that song if you walk out of the Grave I'm walking too if you walked out I'm walking too there's just something about hallelujah oh I feel like a praise right now Hallelujah to God Hallelujah to God oh he is my rock he is my rock he is my Fortress Psalm 6 62 and 5 my soul wait thou only upon God look at this Soul say my soul Psalm 62:5 my soul wait thou only upon God for my expectation is from him he only I wish somebody shout only he only is my rock and my salvation he is my defense I shall not be moved in God is my salvation my glory the rock of my strength my refuge is in God trust in him at all times trust in him when you're a teenager trust in him when you're in your 20s trust in him when you're in your 40s trust in him when you're in your 80s and 90s trust in him at all times ye people pour out your heart before him God is a refuge for us CA that means just to pause and think about it he is our Rock oh lot your father died your grandfather died you're being led by your uncle Abram will Abram die also but isn't it wonderful when God enters your family isn't it wonderful you know many of us if not most of us today are here because God entered into our family God entered into our family brother sister Thorp you're here today because God way back entered into your family and it passed down God enters into the family of lot God enters into this family we find it in Genesis 12 verse number one now the Lord had said unto Abram get thee out of thy country and from thy kindr from thy Father's House unto a land that I will show thee and I will make of thee a great bless a great nation and I will bless thee and make thy name great and thou shalt be a blessing see God has come into this family now verse three I will bless them that bless thee and curse him that curseth thee and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed so Abram departed there's God coming into the family of Abram so Abram departed as the Lord had spoken unto him are you still with me now let me read that again so Abram departed as the Lord had spoken unto him would you read the next few words you can't tell me a lot was it filled with instability but now God's going to merge with this family and lot went with him Abram was 75 years old when he departed out of Heron you see if there's one thing our lost family members need if there's one thing that an instable an unstabled world needs brother Nolan is a faithful worshipper your family don't you don't you don't you ever underestimate your walk with God your family knows you're at church this morning your prodical children and grandchildren know where you're at right now they know where you're at and they know what you stand for so a lot that is filled with instability Witnesses his uncle he Witnesses his uncle's faith in this God that has told him to leave he he Witnesses his uncle's Faith he watches in Genesis 12:7 and the Lord appeared unto Abram and said unto thy seed will I give this land and there built he an altar unto the Lord who appeared unto him he removed from then into a mountain on the east of bethl pitched his tent having bethl on his West and haa on the East and there he built it an altar unto the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord listen to me today lot was there if there's something that can bring stability to our families is for them to ever witness our worship to God they got to always witness our worship to God you'll raise good families you'll raise good children if your children will see more than you just providing groceries and food for them you'll raise good families if they to see you providing more than shelter food and clothes when they witness you father worshiping God that son that daughter mama is making up in their mind I'm unstable there's a culture trying to pull every teenager in a million different directions today and teenagers could say we're just you we really don't know we're we're not stable in what we believe we're not stable in what we're thinking and what they need is for Mom and Dad and pastor and church family to always come together and do what we did this morning and begin to worship God I'm telling you a cemetery called a church has no effect upon our families but if we can keep on praising Our God it's going to have an impact the legacy of lot you see I really can't preach to you what he did until I tell you how he was raised because brother Hammond you never can separate how someone was raised by their behavior so I I I know some of are wanting you see because well let me just go down a few few pages here lot is known for being associated with two things two things two things sister Maynard lot is known for his association with Abraham and his association with Sodom and Gomorrah and you you you see whichever environment influences you is the one that overcomes you that's why environment is so important to us it's not just a building it's not just the time on Sunday morning Sunday night and Wednesday night it was not just the time on Wednesday night Thursday night and Friday night when we had Revival it was an environment and so you will be Associated you will become like you will talk like you will dress like you will act like somebody somebody help me now you will you will talk like you will act like you will dress like you will behave like the environment that is over you right now well I don't know why they're doing that I got the answer right now I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree I'm not the brightest crayon in the box but I got the answer right now I know why people live like the world because that's who's influencing them and I know why people from the world come into the church and before you know it they start acting like talking like looking like behaving like people that's been in church how is that because the environment has got a hold on them lot Witnesses his uncle Abram worshiped God but can I tell you something else lot also worshiped uh excuse me lot also witnessed the fleshly sinful nature of his uncle say what yeah he was there with L he was there with Abram and Seria when they're making a decision because there's a famine in the land there's a famine in the land they're making a decision to go down into Egypt and right before they go into Egypt Abram says to Seri he says now you are a beautiful woman you are a well attractive woman you you you you're beautiful and said we need to change our identities out because if we walk into Egypt with our true identity they'll kill me and they'll take you so you we've got to change our identity and I could stop right there and preach because any place you have to change who you are is not where you should be oh Lord have mercy spring sprung and now we're broke come on now hear me now any place anybody any atmosphere that you can't mention the name of Jesus is a place you ought not be any place you have to talk and say we got to change our identity I I know we go by app Apostolic and we go by Christian and we go but but this is an environment we want to keep Jesus out you don't need to go in where you got to keep Jesus out that a that's not going to turn out well for you let's let's change our identity that's now now now now now you got to say you're my sister and and and and and and and and we got to say we're brother and sister here all right and uh lot heard that lot knew that that's not exactly right lot not only knew no now stay with me now lot not only knew that his uncle had Faith to leave and worship God but he also saw the human side of his uncle he saw the sinful side of course The Story Goes Egypt took Seri anyway God had to plague the house of pharaoh and the Egyptians and revealed to them that that's his wife and Pharaoh had to uh had to expel him from the coast to get the plague to leave but lot witnessed the sinful nature of his uncle although he built altars and worshiped God can I ask you to do something today please please please always keep in mind that the people you go to church with are flesh just like you I'm not going back to church I hurt my feelings anybody ever hurt your feeling at Kroger I'm not going back to church I don't have a parking spot you mean you got one at Walmart you see how we use a different standard for church in the world somebody ever offended you on the highway driving your car road rage somebody ever drove up beside you beeping their horn and when you look over they're not raising their hand to praise the Lord come on somebody come on now did that make you mad yeah but if you're smart you keep going and keep driving and you don't let that old fleshly anger get up and show that person that walked just past you and wave but didn't wave Lord I I guess I guess I have died and God has let me go to heaven among the perfected you stop driving your car because that no you stop going to Kroger no you stop going to Walmart no so why would you stop going to church because there was something there ah you know I got you trigged today if you sit there and be quiet you're the one I'm preaching to right now I just want everybody to know if you're sitting beside somebody that's quiet that's because I got them treed right now all right one one one more thing one more thing has to do with money you ever went to aub's and they come out and they say this is a new menu that that's like tongues and interpretation and we do tongues interpretation tongues come you don't know what the tongues are but the interpretation comes and it comes out when they come up and they say this is a new menu they've raised the prices the sirloin you got for $8.99 or $9.99 is now $33.99 and the soft drink you got for a buck 50 is now $2.25 but how many of you get out and you walk I'm never going to Aubrey's all they want is money there all they talk about it you can't even go through one meal without them bringing the ticket to the table oh can you believe that we can't can I tell you that that you got to understand something today number one the people you go to church with are just as fleshly as the people at Walmart at Kroger at AU in all the world you are sitting on a Pew this morning with less than perfect people well you don't know that yeah I am you're there Brother David Acres a good friend of mine good friend of mine he pastored in lafallet for several years called me up one day and he told me he had a family leaving he said uh the carpenter said I had this woman come and said they was going to leave the lafolet church said they had found a church that was a perfect Church said we've been visiting that church said they let the Lord move said that the preacher preaches this and the choir does that and said it is a perfect church and we're going to go join it and brother AER said please don't do that oh I know you want us to stay here brother he said no no no no no no has nothing to do if you staying here if that's a perfect Church you'll go mess that thing up you'll mess it up can I tell you something today as good as we try marville is not a perfect church and anybody that's visiting here today you're a guest here today and you're thinking wow look at this this is a lot of eye candy you got to stay and see underneath and underneath is flesh flesh but if we can just understand oh I got some I I I wonder what some of your t texting right now that just blow my mind to see what what you're texting but but but I got to tell you something right now lot witnessed his uncles spiritual side but he also witnessed his uncle's fleshly side but he didn't stop following Uncle Abraham he kept on following because there's a blessing when we can look Beyond somebody's faults and see their need I'm not advocating sinning today I'm just telling you exactly like it is I could tell you about um Matthew 7 7 1-5 judge not that you be not judged probably the most Mis uh applied misinterpreted scripture in all the Bible you try to preach the Bible and somebody else say the Bible says judge not I'm talking about that it's talking about having a critical fault finding y'all didn't even bring me any water up here I'm doing so bad I didn't even get water today at least you brought fish water you'll get that in a minute that's been open brother here what the time what the time's going on here it's talking about a critical fault finding judgmental you ought to pray to be delivered from that you ought to pray if you come into a church and all you can see is the the the hypocrite and all you can see is this is wrong and and stay around it might not even take you a whole service they may direct you where to park at and if you're not used to being told what to do that's probably going to offend you I knew how much fun I'm having right now it's the truth ask God to deliver you from a fault finding spirit because you will find yourself all alone in a room by yourself growing old and you don't even like yourself judge not that you be not judged for with what judgment you judge you shall be judged and with what measure you meet it shall be measured to you again why beholdest thou the moat that is in thy brother's eye the moat that is in that that's a speck that's a piece of sawdust why do you behold the moat that is in thy brother's eye but considerest not the beam the 4x4 that is in thine own eye or how will thou say to thy brother let me pull out the moat out of thine eye and behold a beam is in thine own eye thou hypocrite First cast out the beam out of thine own eye and then shalt thou See Clearly to cast out the moat out of thy brother's eye can I tell you something today keep this right here out of other people's business keep this right here more people lose their walk with God they lose their Joy they lose their peace because they've always got this where it don't belong and if you're sitting there quiet today I just want every amen or to know that's who I'm talking about today all right if I'm bold enough to preach it you need to be bold enough to receive it that right there take care of your own house before you try to take care of somebody else's house don't come to my house with a four before sticking out your head and one of my kids cut you off in traffic and you want to come tell me about don't don't don't come to my house telling me and you I mean you got a two before I can't say nothing but you're two before and here you got a you got you got a you got a tweezer out and you want to do surgery on my little speck would you leave my little speck up to me and I'm going to tell you something I find this out if I'll just take care of me and my house that's a fulltime job come on would you praise him right now with me come on praise him right now with me praise him Lord you know I'm preaching today come on saints of God come on First Apostolic Church you know I'm preaching right now you you know I'm preaching right now oh you know I'm preaching right now I don't care how they look I want them on the Pew because I have more of a possibility and God has more of a possibility of changing their life on that Pew than them not being on this Pew and I'm glad I'm glad I I I I hear I hear people say oh prodical are watching online and I am so thankful if you're watching online today I'm so glad to have you here but I really would love to have you sitting here on a Pew because there's no one in my 41 years of pastoring and I don't believe it'll change if it's 81 years of pastoring I have never showed anybody the door out of this church because God didn't shut call me to show you the door out God called me to show you the door into the church I have never I'm just going to tell you that there's no write it down write it down tweet it Facebook it whatever you want to do exit whatever that is just whatever you want to do you just listen to me today I've never had a conversation where I've said brother Hammond I'm glad that family is gone I'm glad that man is gone you know why I want to see them touched by the mighty hand of God if I didn't believe people could change I wouldn't be preaching right now if I didn't believe God could get a hold of your heart and God could change you I wouldn't be preaching right now lot witnessed the fleshly side of his uncle the fleshly side of his uncle and he kept on walking can I tell you the true blessings of God are going to come when you can not only witness the spiritual side of your brothers and sisters but you can witness their fleshly side and still keep walking with God I've often said it the church at its worst is better than the world at its best well I feel the holy ghost right now I feel the Holy Ghost right would you worship with me right now I feel the Holy Ghost right now oh I feel the Holy Ghost right now I feel the I feel the holy ghost coming on this I feel the holy ghost moving right now Church the blessing is Beyond seeing the fault of my brother brother blessing is beyond you're seeing the spiritual part it's when we mix the spiritual part of Abram and the fleshly part of Abram together and we keep on walking because the Bible says in Genesis 13:1 and Abram went up out of Egypt and Abram went up out of Egypt which do you want to be known for going into Egypt or coming out of Egypt he comes out of Egypt made the mistake what do you do when the flesh gets a hold of you drop down to verse number three of the same chapter and he went on his journeys from the south even to bethl un the place where his tent had been at the beginning between bethl and AI under the place of the altar which he had made there at the first and there Abram called on the name of the Lord now lot Witnesses the fle spiritual side the fleshly side and now back to the spiritual side he sees him call on the name of the Lord look at verse five let's all say the first three words of verse five please all together it's environment it's environment and lot also which went with Abram had flocks and herds and Tents and the land was not able to Bear them that they might dwell together for their substance was great so that they could not dwell together somebody say that's the blessings that's the blessings can I tell you the blessings some of the dearest friendships I have in my life if you go back somewhere in that friendship there was both of us seeing the fleshly side of each other but we didn't separate we stayed together and because we stayed together the blessings of the Lord Has Come on our lives and the blessings of the Lord has come upon our church because we have we have stayed we have stayed together so lot stays with Abram and the blessings of God come upon him the material blessings of God at that flocks and herds and Tents but something happened with the increase of material things it began to cause Strife between lot's herdsman and Abram's person now now I want you to know something today if material things occupy us to the place that we don't have time for God it's not time to have less church service de during Co I heard people saying well we're going to save our gasoline and and and we're only going to come to church once a week it's it's we don't know really what's going to happen that's okay you're only going to go to the mall once a week CU it takes fuel to get there too I'm not just saying this but I feel the Holy Ghost here anytime material things start occupying and causing strife with spiritual things it's time to downsize because what got us to the blessing is the spiritual I said what got us to the blessing is the spiritual but you can't get wrapped up in the material things and start neglecting the spiritual things because the spir the material things will soon be gone I love this proverb Proverbs 10:22 look at it with me Proverbs 10:22 says this the blessings of the Lord it maketh rich and he added no sorrow with it I want to tell you today brother Holland everything we call a blessing may not be a blessing because any time our blessings add sorrow to our life that wasn't a blessing to the L of the Lord because his blessings don't add any sorrow let me travel let me let me travel decision time you see you see 12 years at ACA 12 years at ACA prepare you for decision time 18 years 18 years and you can do what you want Legally Legally you can do what you want and please I won't call name I won't I won't hint or whatever but I had the most beautiful counseling session with two wonderful young people here that are over the age of 18 and in that counseling session they told me that their parents had asked them to do a certain thing and they said we're doing it I stopped right there in that counseling session I said first and foremost I want to commend you to that the spirit of our age tells you that when you're 18 you don't have to obey your parents anymore that is not in the Bible I said that is not in the Bible I believe I believe that when they do get of age that they don't need to get the mentality now I can boy it's quiet in here today now I can do and I don't know now I can do what I want to do that may be in the world but it should not be in the church because what we prepared you for for 18 years was for you to make the the ultimate directional decision of your life and oh God I pray you make it in the right direction I pray that when you're no longer in your mom and dad's house that you still make the decision it's Sunday morning and I'm going to the house of God I pray that when I I I there's such an anointing here right now there there's just such an anointing here we we work we pray we fast we invest in school tuition we invest in youth camps and National Youth conventions and all kinds of things we invest we invest and invest so that when that day comes that it's your time to make your decision Genesis 13 and8 and Abram said unto lot let there be no Strife I pray thee between me and thee between my Herdman and thy Herdman for we be Brethren is not the whole land before thee say the next two words with me say the next two words say that again separate thyself I pray pray thee from me if thou will take the left hand then I will go to the right and if thou depart to the right hand then I will depart to the left lot is asked to make a directional decision and this is where he missed the mark horribly horribly this is where he makes a turn and he misses the mark horribly because the thing he should have said is Uncle Abraham you're the one the angel comes to visit uncle Abraham you're the one God called out of Earth CES Uncle Abraham you're the one that God interacts with you're the one that God says you're my friend Uncle Abraham would you tell me the direction that I need to go in can I tell you today when you're making directional decisions about your life don't make them alone get your pastor involved get your parents involved get people that are spiritual involved around you get them around you you don't need to make it alone you you do not need you don't need to make the decision alone what should have happened happened and his life could have ended his life could have his legacy could have been so much better how you think it would have been if he would have said you know what I think I need to sell off a few I think I need I need to I need to sell off a few hundred head of cabal hey I think I need to sell off some of material things why because if it means separate with you I I don't want to separate with you if it means I'm not going to be with you Uncle Abraham I I don't want to be can I tell you something spiritually we need to downsize when we find ourselves getting colder and colder and colder and colder and colder on God don't come to church like I used to don't worship God like I used to when I would come to church don't don't really have the mindset anymore don't know really when I the last time I've even talked to my P couldn't tell you the last time I even said praise the Lord can I tell you if you find your life going in that direction it's time to say hey put the brakes on this thing right now I don't care if we have to stop doing this and we have to cut down doing this I got to be in the house of the Lord Lord I got to be in a place to where I I can receive from the hand of God I'm got to be there but I'll make my own decision the Bible said in lot verse 10 and lot lifted up his eyes beheld all the plan of Jordan that it was well watered everywhere before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah even as the garden of the Lord even like the land of Egypt as thou comest to zor here you are on earth lot and you look out over Sodom why didn't you consult Heaven why didn't you have some prayer to Heaven why didn't you ask God Uncle Abraham will you talk to God I Abraham will you talk to God about about the direction of Sodom Gomorrah cuz from where I'm at Sodom looks like a well-watered garden from The View that I'm at Sodom looks like Prosperity glor but have they talked to God about it have they went to God about it brother Coffey God could have sent an Angel and the angel could say don't go that way lot because there's a heavenly counsil going on right now God is up in heaven looking down on the abomination of the sodomites and God is saying I have a date on my calendar where I'm going to rain down fire and bring I'm telling you if we would talk to God lifted up his eyes and he saw and he chose I used the term I candy a moment ago a definition of eye candy technically they say is a compliment as it means someone who is visually attractive it's often considered not a fully positive compliment because it implies that the person's only value is their appearance suggesting a lack of depth or substance Beyond looks therefore it can be perceived as slightly demeaning or superficial depending on the context don't use I candy as a judge of the will of God if you don't believe if you don't have an example of where that goes ask Eve ask Samson and the list goes on and on and on people that may decisions lot if you could look closer if you could look closer you see green fields you see luscious fruit trees but in Genesis 14 and10 it says and the veil of sidan was full full of slime pits and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled and fell there and they that remained fled to the mountain now I'm going to preach this verse a little later but can I tell you Sodom and Gomorrah the world is easy to get into but it's not so easy coming out something that can help you with addicted people people that have addictions whether it's drugs or alcohol or pornography whatever the addiction may be stop looking at them and saying well they must want to live that way they must want to do that that could be further from the truth it's not that they must want to do that that they must like that world it's not that they like that world it's they can't get out and that's why we need to be there to help them to navigate through the Slime pits of coming out of the world when we get them by the hand and say we got to believe Upon Jesus Christ he's our strength he's our help he's he's everything to us we got to repent of our lifestyle and get baptized in Jesus name come on let me let me navigate you around here and get fil filled with the baptism of the Holy Ghost and get the power in your life and if you'll just keep following me don't stay back there and
