Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
The place of his name
- Solomon built the house of the Lord on Mount Mariah, in the place David had prepared in the Jebusite's threshing floor.
- God told Solomon he had chosen that house for himself as a house of sacrifice, and had chosen and sanctified it so that his name may be there forever, with his eyes and his heart there perpetually.
- The twenty-first letter of the Hebrew alphabet stands for the names of God — the Almighty, the all-sufficient one, and peace — and the valleys around Jerusalem are aligned in its shape.
- The feasts were kept with rejoicing in the place which the Lord God had chosen to place his name there, and Jerusalem's only claim to fame is that she was God's holy city.
Scriptures: 2 Chronicles 3:1; 2 Chronicles 7:11-16; Deuteronomy 16:11
Abraham on Mount Mariah
- God proved Abraham and sent him to Mount Mariah to offer his only son Isaac, whom he loved, as a burnt offering.
- When Isaac asked where the lamb was, Abraham answered that God would provide himself a lamb — God himself would become the lamb.
- The angel stopped Abraham's hand, a ram was offered in his son's stead, and Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah Gyra: in the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.
- The gospel was preached beforehand to Abraham: in his seed all the nations of the earth would be blessed, and those who are of faith are the children of Abraham.
Scriptures: Genesis 22:1-2; Genesis 22:7-8; Genesis 22:11-14; Genesis 22:15-18; Galatians 3:6-8
Abraham rejoiced to see my day
- Pressed on whether he was greater than Abraham, Jesus answered that Abraham rejoiced to see his day, and declared, before Abraham was, I am — and they took up stones to cast at him.
- Servants receive only short bits of orders, but friends are told everything: henceforth I call you not servants, but I have called you friends.
- Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness, and he was called the friend of God.
Scriptures: John 8:53-58; John 15:15; James 2:23
The threshing floor and the greater temple
- After David numbered the people, the destroying angel's hand was stayed at the threshing floor, and David confessed that he was the one who had sinned and asked that the hand fall on him instead.
- Offered the floor, the oxen and the wood for nothing, David refused to offer burnt offerings to God of that which cost him nothing, and bought the place for fifty shekels of silver.
- God had sworn to David that of the fruit of his loins he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne, and Jesus bears witness of himself: I am the root and the offspring of David.
- The queen of the south came from the ends of the earth to hear Solomon's wisdom, but a greater than Solomon is here; and when Jesus cleansed the temple he answered, destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up — he spoke of the temple of his body.
- Joseph took Mary as his wife and called her firstborn son's name Jesus, for he would save his people from their sins.
Scriptures: 2 Samuel 24:15-17; 2 Samuel 24:24-25; Acts 2:29-30; Revelation 22:16; 2 Chronicles 3:1; Matthew 12:42; John 2:19-22; Matthew 1:24-25; Matthew 1:21
No temple in the city
- In the city John saw no temple therein, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it, and the city had no need of the sun or the moon, for the glory of God lightened it.
- The river of water of life proceeds from one throne — the throne of God and of the Lamb — and his servants serve him, not them, and his name shall be in their foreheads.
Scriptures: Revelation 21:21-23; Revelation 22:1-4
Your body is the temple
- Our bodies are the members of Christ and the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in us; we are bought with a price, so we are to glorify God in our body and in our spirit, which are God's.
- Because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ we can die to sin, and when we are baptized he puts his name on us, and then he fills us with the Holy Ghost.
- Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.

If you have your Bibles and would join me this morning, the second book of Chronicles, chapter number three and verse number one. As you're looking for that passage of scripture, I want to welcome brother and sister Dunn here with us today. And uh brother and sister Dunn could have been part of our missions giving presentation because several years ago, and I'll do like pastor Nolan, Brother Dunn helped me get my facts correct. Did you see the Apostolic Connection on television or did you on the internet the webcast 20 years ago over 20 years ago? Rono, Virginia. >> Correct. God hold them from a live stream. They drove all the way down from Ronoke, Virginia. And 20 years ago, up on the hill, we baptized this entire family in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ. You know, that's a great story in itself. But since that time, they have accepted the call into the ministry >> and they are ministers with the United Pentecostal Church. And brother and sister Dunn, we love you and we appreciate the work and that we played a small role. God is so God is so God is so good. 2 Coronicles 3 and:1 Then Solomon be to build the house of the Lord at Jerusalem in Mount Moriah, where the Lord appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshing floor of Oron the Jebusite. Now go to 2 Coronicles chapter 7 verse number 11. Someone say, "Praise the Lord." >> Pastor Nolan, you're right. This is a great crowd here today. Wow. Wow. Everybody Everybody didn't go broke on spring break. Thus Solomon finished the house of the Lord and the king's house. And all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the Lord and in his own house he prosperously affected. And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and have chosen this place to myself for a house of sacrifice. If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people. If my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, my ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. For now have I chosen and sanctified this house that my name may be there forever and mine eyes and heart shall be there perpetually. I want to minister to you today for a few moments on the simple subject, the place of his name. You got a need in your life right now? Just raise your hand with me this morning. God, every need that has been submitted online, every hand that has been lifted this morning, every name that has scrolled across the screen, Lord, I pray and ask you, God, that you would touch Andy Smith today. Lord, I ask you today, God, that you would touch Mother Zender. Lord, you would move and you would heal and you would touch and you would deliver and you would comfort. Oh God, you know the needs of your people today. God, you know each individual need that we have. Lord Jesus, today anoint my lips of clay that I may speak your word. Let the spirit of revelation come into this house today in Jesus' name we all pray. >> Amen and amen. You may be seated today. Thank you for standing in honor of God's word. The place of his name. It was a celebration to end all celebrations. King Solomon had led Israel in dedicating a glorious temple to a glorious God. He has prayed for his nation from a top of a brass scaffold. And they offered, listen to this, they offered 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep in sacrifices in celebration of a week long feast of tabernacles. Let me just tell you about this number here. I spent a little time trying to research how much property it would take to house 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep. And if you put that on this property, you would have to times this property. If you put the oxen shoulder tosh shoulder and the sheep shouldertosh shoulder, you would have to times this property. You would have to times it many times over again. 22,000 oxen, 120,000 sheep. Two times the glory of God had filled the temple to such an extent that the priest had to stop ministering as the people would bask in the presence of the Lord. It's a little bit of what we did as the choir began to sing. We begin to bask in his presence. That night as Solomon returns to his palace for some much needed rest, God awakens Solomon in the middle of the night. You heard the message. You heard it in the text. But simply to put it in a nutshell to tell you what the text meant, why Solomon was awakened by God. God said, "I have chosen this house that sits on the top of Mount Mariah. I have chosen it for two reasons. I have chosen it as a place of sacrifice, but I have also chosen it as a place to put my name forever." two things. I've chosen the house, the temple to be a place of sacrifice, and I have chosen it to be a place to put my name. If you have that 21st letter of the Hebrew alphabet called the sheen, if you would put that up on the screen for me, if you have that available, the 21st letter of the Hebrew alphabet is called the sheen. Psalms 119 is divided into 22 sections, each containing eight verses and beginning with one of the 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet. You can find the letter sheen over the section beginning in Psalms 119 161. The sheen stands high among the Hebrew letters because it represents two Old Testament names of God. Shadi, which means God Almighty, the allsufficient, the unlimited one, and shalom, which means peace. So they have great respect. They have great uh honor. There's 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet, but the 21st letter, they have tremendous respect for it, for it represents the name of their God. It represents his power. It represents how unlimited he is. And it looks exactly like this here that's on the screen. This is the Hebrew letter. This is the Hebrew letter Sheen, the 21st letter. You'll find in just a moment the significance of why they respected it so much. You see, Jerusalem sits where the house of God was placed, where the place of sacrifice was, where the place that he would put his name. Jerusalem sits amid hills and valleys that when seen from above resemble the Hebrew letter sheen which it resembles what we would see as a W. A sheen has a has been a representation of God because it is part of a spelling of one of his names God Almighty or in the Hebrew El Shedi. The sheen is also seen in the valleys which surround the ancient city of Jerusalem. There are three mountains there. There are three mountain ranges there. There's Mount Zion, Mount Mariah and the Mount of Olives which are marked by three valleys. The Hen Valley on the left to the Tyropene Valley in the middle and the Kindred Valley on the right. So we see that from geography and topography. We see that the mountain ranges are even aligned to represent when God looked down from heaven. He saw that 21st letter of the Hebrew alphabet that would represent his name. In the book of Deuteron Deuteronomy chapter number 16 and verse number 11 the Bible says and thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God thou thy son thy daughter and thy man's servant and thy maid servant and the Levite that is within thy gates and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow that are among you. Follow this. In the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to place his name there. So there would be rejoicing, there would be worship not only of the Jewish people but there would be worship. There would be worship and praise of the stranger of the stranger that is there. You see, church family, today, Jerusalem had no other claim to fame but the fact that she was God's holy city. That's Jerusalem's only claim to fame. She has no river frontage like Babylon. She has no harbor like Alexandria. She has no power like Rome. She is not even on a main road through the Holy Land, but she was located high on a mountain called Mount Moriah, a place that God would choose to place his name. Long before Solomon built a house, the house of God on Mount Mariah, God had already had his eye on Mount Mariah. You see this man called Abram or Abraham, this man that is the father of the faithful. The reason that he is the father of the faithful, it was Abraham that was the first man to allow his faith to mingle with the word of God. He is called the father of the faithful. But in Genesis chap 22 and verse number one, read this along with me. Look at this as I read this today. And it came to pass after these things that God did te tempt Abraham or proved Abraham and said unto him, Abraham, and he said, Behold, here am I. And he said, "Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Mariah, and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of." You see, today, church family, our Bible is a book of God speaking to his people. He speaks to his people in types and shadows. And so even in this story, God is trying to speak to us of the Lord Jesus Christ. Abraham, take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love. But you're not going to take him just to any mountain. You're going to take him to Mount Mariah. And there you're going to offer him up for a burnt sacrifice unto me. Go down to verse number seven of the same chapter. They're making their way. Abraham and Isaac, they're making their way to the mountain. It's a three-day journey. They're making their way to Mount Mariah. As they begin to make their way up the mountain, Isaac begins to speak. And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, "My father." And he said, "Here am I, my son." And he said, "Behold," Isaac says, "Behold the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?" Now, evidently Isaac was no stranger to sacrifice. He knew the ingredients of sacrifice. A knife, a wood, fire, an animal. But as they make this trip up to Mount Mariah, Isaac re re recognizes that there's something missing here. And Abraham said, "My son," look at verse eight closely. "My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering." So they went both of them together. Now God lays a type and a shadow of God becoming a lamb. He says, "Father, where is the offering?" And Abraham prophetically says, "God will provide himself a lamb." >> Now, he could have said, "God will provide a lamb. But the meaning of it is is God is going to become the lamb. >> God is going to become that lamb. Let's go on to Genesis 22:11. Abraham stretches Isaac out. Isaac submits to Abraham's plan. Abraham stretches out his hand with the knife to take his son's life. But again, we have faith operating because Abraham believed God that even if he took Isaac's life, that God was able to bring Isaac back to life from the ashes. Abraham was intending to bring a pile of ashes back and say that although I have nothing but ashes, God's promises are a greater than any ashes that we could ever have. >> He stretches his hand back in verse 11. And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven and said, Abraham, Abraham, and he said, here am I. And he said, "Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him. For now I know that thou fierest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son, from me." Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket, or the thorns by his horns. Abraham went and took the ram and offered him up for a burnt offering in thestead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place. Follow this now. Because there's a name going to go to this place. And there's a sacrifice. Remember what Solomon said? Solomon said, God said, I have chosen this place for a sacrifice place. And I've also chosen this place for a place to put my name. And so Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah Gyra which means in the mount of the Lord it shall be seen. As it is said to this day in the mount of the Lord it shall be seen. The word Moriah is a combination of two words. It means first to appear or to see and it means Jehovah. It means to appear or to see Jehovah. So on Mount Mariah, we're going to be able as the sacrifice and the name, we're going to be able to see Jehovah. We're going to be able to see the invisible. I believe it's noteworthy today that in this story, the first time in the Bible the word tempt or proved is used is in this story. The first time in the Bible the word lovest is used in this story. We understand today that this story is nothing more than an Old Testament typology of when Jehovah God would become flesh and go yes to that very mount Mariah and there humanity would be able to witness God in flesh our sacrifice and his great name. This is interesting to note. Go all the way to the book of Galatians. Go to where a group of people are having a hard time letting go of the law as a form of their salvation. They're having a hard time letting go of the Mosaic laws a as a part of pleasing to God. And they're now through the gospel dispensation, they're now having to let go of the works of the law. and they're having to place their faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul's having to help these Galatians out. I think you'll find this very interesting in Galatians 3 verse number 6. Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Now listen unto him, talk to him. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith the same are the children of Abraham because they were they were paying quite respect to Abraham. He said they that are of faith are the children of Abraham. Verse eight. And the scripture foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, "In thee shall all nations be blessed." Now, this is overwhelming to me. Abraham had the gospel preached to him. And the good news was through when God would become the lamb of God, shed his blood be a sacrifice, bring to us the only saving name that through that name and through that sacrifice all, not some, not most, but all the families of the earth could be blessed through the gospel of Jesus Christ. And would you give him a thunderous applause right now? Abraham had the gospel. Well, where did Abraham have the gospel preached to him? Well, let's go back to Genesis 22:15. The angel called unto Abraham out of heaven, saying, "And said this this he he's the angel's talking to him now, by myself have I sworn, sayaeth the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son, that in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is upon on the seashore and thy sea shall possess the gate of his enemies. Here it is. And in thy sea shall all the nations of the earth be blessed because thou hast obeyed my voice. Paul put these two together and says, "Don't you understand those of you that want to hold on to the Old Testament law? Don't you understand that who you pride yourself to be the children of Abraham that Abraham had the gospel preached to him >> through his seed?" Well, Jesus was in a heated discussion. He was in a heated discussion with the religious leaders. Oh, he was in a heated dis discussion with them and they were arguing about Abraham. But Jesus in John 8:53, he made a statement about being greater than Abraham. And boy, that really inflamed them. In verse 53, they said to him, "Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead, and the prophets are dead? Who makest thou thyself? You're greater than Abraham. Who do you make yourself to be?" Jesus answered, "If I honor myself, my honor is nothing. It is my father that honorth me, of whom you say, he is your God. Now, here's we got we got something messed up. God God is honoring the man Christ Jesus and yet they're rejecting him. But then they're saying that they're honoring God. Verse 55. Yet, listen to Jesus speak more. Yet you have not known him. He says, you you've not known God, but I know him. And if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you. But I know him and keep his sayings. Now, I'm going to tell you something. You don't get any more heated than that right there. I I mean, he said, "If I would deny him, I'd become a liar just like you are." Then here it is. Verse 56. Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day. And he saw it and was glad. Then said the Jews unto him, "Thou art not yet 50 years old, and how hast thou seen Abraham?" Now, before I go to the next verse, let me tell you this. He stood there and he said,"Abraham rejoiced to see my day." Abraham rejoiced to see my day. When did he see the day of Christ? When God put him through Mount Mariah, God showed Abraham, you will provide yourself Jehovah. Jehovah Gyra, you will become a lamb and you will take away the sins of the world. And Abraham rejoiced in the fact that he saw the day of Christ. They said, "You're not yet 50 years old, and you've seen Abraham." Jesus said unto them, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, before Abraham was, I am." You think they got mad over him calling them a liar? You wait till he connects himself with the I am that I am. You wait till he says I am the God that was in the burning bush. I am the God that spoke to Moses out of the burning bush. I am that I am. Man, they got a little upset when he called him a liar. But when he said before Abraham was, I am. Then look what happened. Then they took up stones to cast at him. But Jesus hid himself and went out through the temple going through the midst going through the midst of them. Can I tell you something? Abraham saw that day. Abraham saw that day. You know, you know, one of the reasons I know Abraham was allowed to see it. John 15:15 reads like this, Pastor Nolan, it lead reads like this. Jesus said, "Henceforth I call you not servants. From now on, I'm not calling you servants. For the servants knoweth not what his Lord doeth, but I have called you friends. For all things that I have heard of my father, I have made known unto you." He said, "From now on, you're not a you're not a servant anymore because servants simply know short bits of orders. Go get this. Go get that. set the table, do this. They have short bits of orders. But friends, God puts his arm around friends and God tells his friends everything that he's going to do. You see, the Bible says in James 2:23, and I wish somebody say, "Praise the Lord." >> James 2:23, listen to this. And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness. And Abraham was called the friend of God. When Abraham, listen to this now, when God proved Abraham, the first time the word proved test is mentioned in the Bible and the first time the word lovest is mentioned in the Bible and the word worship is mentioned there. Because the Bible said, I want you to I want you to take your only son Isaac whom you lovest and offer him up as a sacrifice. And when Abraham was leaving with Isaac to go up the mountain and he was leaving servants at the bottom of the hill, he said to the servants, "Stay here with the donkeys because I and the lad will go yonder and we will worship and we will return." Can I tell you something? You become a friend of God when God can put you to the test. And you show God that you love him more than anything else in this world. He's not telling you not to love things, but he's just simply telling you, "Please love me more than you love anything in the world." And when Abraham offered up Isaac and the angel told him to stop, God pulled Abraham to his side and said, "Hey, friend, you're not a servant anymore. Let me tell you, a few thousand years ago, few thousand years from now, I'm going to rogue myself in flesh, and I'm going to come to this very mountain range, Mariah, and there I'm going to bring two things to the world. I'm going to bring a sacrifice, and I'm going to bring him a name that is above every name. Would you take a moment and just worship the Lord with me right now? Take a moment and just worship the Lord with me right now. I thank you, God. I praise you, God. and I magnify you, Lord. >> Oh, Mount Mariah. Mount Mariah. A man called David. In Acts chapter 2, verse 29, a man called David. Acts chapter 29, Peter is preaching. He says, "Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David that is both dead and buried, and his suppler is with us unto this day. Therefore, being a prophet and knowing that God has sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his loins, of the fruit his his descendants, of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne. God prophesied to David that in your lineage is going to come the Christ, the lamb, the God man that's going to sit on the throne. For Jesus Christ is no ordinary man. He is 100% man, but he is 100% God. He's not part God nor part man. He's fully man and he's fully God. How is that? Because God knew a world needed a sacrifice and the world needed a name. And in Jesus Christ comes the combination of a sacrifice and a name that is put together. And David, David, David has this prophecy given to him. Through your loyans is going to come the Christ to sit on the throne. The Bible cannot be completed. In Revelation 22:16, Jesus himself will give witness to this. Revelation 22:16, it says, "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and the morning star as God the root." We won't talk about God the father. I want to talk about God the root. As God the root, he is eternal. >> As the begotten offspring, he was conceived in the womb of the Virgin Mary. And the glorified Jesus Christ before the Bible will be ended will say, "I am the root and I am the offspring of David." You say, "Preacher, why you taking time this morning?" Because what this world needs to understand that everything can be solved in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. All answers can be given in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Everything you need can be found in Jesus Christ. Stop your looking. Stop your searching. It's ended this morning. Everything you need can be found in Jesus Christ. King David has sinned. He has numbered the people. And God has broken out upon the land with a great pestilence. The angel of the Lord is going through. He's going through the land. And in 2 Samuel 24:15, we see this story unfold. David has sinned. God is angry. So the Lord sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed. And there died of the people from Dan even to Bersshea 70,000 people. When the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the Lord repented of the evil and said to the angel that destroyed the people, "It is enough. Stay now thine hand." And the angel of the Lord was by the threshing place of Orona the Jebusite. This is very important where this threshing floor is at. You see God is going from the north to the south from Dan to Bershiba. 70,000 men. The anger of God and the sword of God has taken their life. But when God comes to Jerusalem, when God comes to that place that is rich in prophecy, when God comes to that place as a God that can see the past, the present, and the future, we can't, but God is able to see the past, the present, and the future. God was able there to see the sacrifice of Isaac. God was able there to see that when he would become a man and die on the hill, so God stayed his hand. Can I tell you something? The name of the Lord is upon Jerusalem. And the greatest place to find your mercy is in the sweet name of Jesus. God stayed his hand. And David spake unto the Lord. Now David, he goes out to speak with the Lord when he saw the angel that smoked the people. And David said, "Lo, I have sinned. I have done wickedly, but these sheep, what have they done? Let thine hand, I pray, thee, be against me and against my father. He, in other words, David said, please leave the people of Jerusalem alone. I was the one that sinned. Let your anger let it fall upon me. And Gad, who's a prophet, came that day to David and said unto him, "Go up, rear an altar unto the Lord in the threshing floor of Oona the Jebusite." God said, "You want it stop? Get up on the top of the hill and offer up a burnt offering. If you'll go up there, death and judgment is coming. But if you'll go up to the top of this mountain and offer a sacrifice, it will appease me. I will be appeased in this judgment. So David goes to the top of the hill. Arona is there threshing wheat and David comes to Arona and tells him, I need this mountain to offer up a sacrifice. We find this in verse 24 of the 24th chapter of 2 Samuel. The king said unto Arona because Arona said, David came and said, "I need the mountain. I need I need to buy the mountain here. I need to buy this space here because I need to build an altar here because I need to offer a sacrifice here because there's judgment that's coming." And Arona just said, "Well, you're the king. I'll just give you the oxen. I'll just give you the wood. I'll just give you the land. But David said, "No, but I will surely buy it of thee at a price. Neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that which doth cost me nothing." So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for 50 shekels of silver. And David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the Lord was intreated for the land and the plague was stayed from Israel. Now David buys this piece of property. It belongs to David. Now in 2 Coronicles 3 and:1 we're going to find out where this property was at. In 2 Coronicles 3:1, then Solomon began to build the house of the Lord at Jerusalem in Mount Moriah, where the Lord appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshing floor of Onan the Jebusite. Do you see the beautiful typology here? Here on this mountain, Abraham offered up Isaac. here on this mountain. God showed Abraham the friend. He showed him the gospel. Now, David buys this piece of property and Solomon builds a house on this property. But can I tell you, David bought Mariah and Solomon built upon it. And oh, did they not gloat in the temple of Solomon? Did they not show off the temple of Solomon? They really were very prideful in their religious oity of the temple. But Jesus brought them back to reality in Matthew 12:42. Listen to what Jesus said. He said, speaking of of uh the Queen of Sheba, he said, "The queen of the south shall rise up in judgment with this generation and shall condemn it, for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, a greater than Solomon is here." In other words, he's saying, "You're showing off this temple, but you've missed the whole point of typology. There's a greater temple that is in the temple. There's a greater plan that is in the temple. Well, it happened in John 2:18. It happened in John 21:18. Jesus went in and got upset over their abuse of the temple. Jesus began to cast them out of the temple. And in John 21:18, the Bible said, "Then answered the Jews and said unto him, what sign showest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest?" In other words, you have come in here turning tables over and driving people out. Would you show us your credentials for doing this? Jesus answered and said unto them, destroy this temple. You want to see my credentials? You want to know my authority? He said, destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up. Then they always are missing it because they're looking at the natural and not the spiritual. Then said the Jews, 40 and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body. When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them, and they believed the scripture and the word which Jesus had said. You You see, you got to understand something. God wasn't into block and mortar. That was simply a a symbol to try to get them to see. But when he stood in Matthew chapter number one verse number 24, then Joseph being raised from his sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife, knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son, and called his name Jesus. Jesus is the temple of the almighty God. He is the temple. Why did he become flesh? He needed a sacrifice. Why was he God in flesh? Because he needed to be able to raise the sacrifice back to life. But the sacrifice had a name that was above every name. Boy, I'm glad to be living where we're living right now because Jesus is the temple of God. No other name like the name of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the temple, the dwelling place of the almighty God. Let's go to heaven right now by way of John the revelator. In Revelation chapter 21:21, John is allowed to see heaven. what we will see one day. And the 12 gates were 12 pearls. Every several gate was one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold as it were transparent glass. And I saw no temple therein. I saw no building therein. For the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. Please, when people try to separate Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, remember this. For the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple singular of it. If the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are two separate beings, then the writing should say, "I saw the temples plural." But it doesn't say that because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are one dwelling place. For in Jesus dwelleth the fullness of the Godhead bodily, but I'm not going to stop reading there. And we are complete in him. And I give him praise for that today. And the city had no need of sun. That's interesting. A city had no need of sun, neither of the moon to shine in it. For the glory of God did lighten it, and the lamb is the light thereof. But let's not stop reading Revelation 22 and1. He showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God, the throne, singular, of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river was there the tree of life, which beare 12 manner of fruits, yielded her fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God, not thrones, plural, throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it. And if that's not enough for you to understand that God and the Lamb are one, maybe this will. And his servants shall serve him, not them. Because God and the lamb are not a them, it's a him. If that's not enough for you, verse four needs to sum it up. And they shall see his face, not their face, and his not their name. His name shall be in their foreheads. The people are many. But the lamb is simply one. Good lesson this morning, pastor. But oh, I'm not just teaching a lesson today. He came in flesh and was the temple of God. so that you and I >> could become temples of God. >> Paul in 1 Corinthians 6:15 is having to warn the church. They're committing gross sins and he's having to warn them and rebuke them. And he says in 1 Corinthians 6:15, "Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them the members of a harlot? God forbid." What? Know ye not that he which is joined to a harlot is one body? For two saith, he shall be one. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body. But he that committh fornication sinnth against his own body. What know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you which you have of God and you are not your own. For you are bought with a price. This is a good verse of scripture for all these people that just say it matters what's on the inside. Chew on this for a moment. For you are bought with a price. Therefore, glorify, bring to attention, cause people to see, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are gods. God came in a temple of flesh so that you and I could die, repent, surrender our flesh to the Lord, then be baptized. When we are baptized, guess what happens? Go all the way back to my beginning. He puts his name on us when we are baptized. Because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, I can die to my sin. Because of the shed blood, I can die to my sin. Because of the sacrifice of Calvary, I can overcome guilt and shame and condemnation. I can get up and live. Because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, >> he puts his name on me. >> But then he does something else. He fills me with the Holy Ghost. >> He fills me with his spirit. In the Old Testament, it says that God filled the temple and man was not able to enter. in the New Testament. If we'll get full of the Holy Ghost, we'll leave the works of the flesh and we'll start living like God wants us to live. If we'll stay full of the Holy Ghost, there's not a sin, not a disease, not a not a bondage that can keep you in bondage if you'll get full of the Holy Ghost. >> Well, let me bring it to an end today. You people, you apostolic people make such a big deal about the name of Jesus. Tomato tomato. You know why we make a big deal about the name of Jesus? Acts 4 verse number 12. Neither is there salvation >> in any other. For there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Mohammed can't save you. Bua Buddha can't save you. Krishna can't save you. Political parties can't save you. Rockefeller can't save you. Timothy can't save you. Trump can't save you. The only thing that can. That's why we ought to sing about Jesus and praise about Jesus and worship about Jesus because it is the only. Come on, stand with me right now. Stand with me right now. >> You tell me I'm making a big deal about it. Do do you know >> the rarity of a of a thing demands ultimate protection? Things on this earth that there's only one of. You go to Washington DC all you want to. But you'll never touch that original Declaration of Independence. No, no, no, no, no. I don't care who you know. You just don't know who I know. I know a lot of people that you No, you know, you don't because it's so rare. It's so rare. It's kept. And can I tell you, there were copies of the Declaration of Independence, but there's no copy to the name of Jesus. >> We got to spend our lives getting the name of Jesus around this whole world. Why is the name so important? Because she shall bring forth a son and call his name Jesus. He shall save his people from their sins. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow of things in heaven, things in earth, and things under the earth. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. What a name today. What a saving name today. What a saving name today. Jesus. Something about the name of Jesus. What a saving name today. What a saving name today. Hey, if it'd be all right, would just just reach over and put your hand on your neighbor's shoulder right now. The name of Jesus. Father, you know the lost that are here today. Father, you know the hurting that are here today. Father, you know the men and women that are here today that have struggled. You know the men and women here today, God, that have cried and tried. You know the men and women here today, God, that have tried and got hope and failed and tried and tried. But oh God, I offer this congregation today the name of Jesus. I offer them you today, right now. Spirit of God, flow through this congregation right now, Jesus. And we would gather in this altar and we would begin to call on the name of Jesus. Cuz there's no other name whereby we must be saved. It is the name of Jesus. There's no other name whereby we must be saved. Come on, pray with me right now. There's no other name right now. There's no other name. There's no other name. Oh, there's something about the name of Jesus. There's something about the name of Jesus. Come on, sing a little bit for me right now. There's something about the name of Jesus. Pray for your neighbor right now. There's something about the name of Jesus. If you're here this morning and would like to come up around the altar, I'm going to open the altar to you right now. In the name of Jesus, I'm going to open the altar to you right now in the name of Jesus. God, >> thank God. >> Thank God. Thank God. Thank God. Thank God.
