Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

William Penn and the sandy foundation

  • He opens with buildings that fell or leaned because of faulty foundations, and with his burden for this church: when death or age ends his ministry here, he wants to say he left the church on the right foundation.
  • He reads the text standing: Jesus at Caesarea Philippi asks whom men say he is, and whom say ye that I am; Simon Peter answers, thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God, and Jesus says flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee — upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
  • A research article gave him the lesson's title: William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania, wrote 'The Sandy Foundation Shaken' in the 1600s, refuting the belief that the Godhead exists as three separate persons; it was declared heretical, and Penn spent a year imprisoned in the Tower of London.
  • Offered release if he would recant, Penn answered that the prison would be his grave before he would budge one jot from what he had written.

Scriptures: Matthew 16:13-18

One God: the testimonies the essay marshals

  • Reading from the essay, he lays out its chain: to whom will ye liken me, or shall I be equal, saith the Holy One; I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me.
  • Thus saith the Lord thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I will praise thee, O my God, O thou Holy One of Israel; and the Lord shall be king over all the earth — in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.
  • The chain runs on through the words of Jesus and the apostles: none good but one, that is God; this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God; one God and Father of all; one God and one mediator; to the only wise God our Saviour be glory.
  • The essay's conclusion, which he commends to the church: the three-persons doctrine is not from the scriptures — it was born about three hundred years after the ancient gospel was declared, and men labor to twist the scripture to fit it.

Scriptures: Isaiah 40:25; Isaiah 45:5-6; Isaiah 48:17; Psalm 71:22; Zechariah 14:9; Matthew 19:17; John 17:3; Ephesians 4:6; 1 Timothy 2:5; Jude 1:25

Built on the apostles' doctrine

  • The church did not exist when Jesus spoke; it was born on the day of Pentecost, and the Bible tells us they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, breaking bread from house to house, and the Lord added to the church daily.
  • Doctrine simply means instructions: Jesus said my doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me — and a church proud of preaching no doctrine is preaching the doctrine of no doctrine.
  • Before the council the apostles were charged: did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine — and Peter answered, we ought to obey God rather than men; don't get mad at the mailman, he only delivers the mail.
  • Paul writes of those who were the servants of sin but obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered them, and being then made free from sin became the servants of righteousness.

Scriptures: Acts 2:42-47; John 7:16; Acts 5:27-29; Romans 6:15-18

Repent, be baptized, receive the gift

  • The apostles' instructions address what no pharmacist or psychiatrist can: repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost — every act goes under the blood, and the believer comes up a new creature, free of shame and guilt.
  • He breaks it down in stages: repentance changes the mind about the thing and stops it; water baptism takes it out of the heart; the Holy Ghost gives power to walk right by it and become a witness — like bases in a ball game, you do not stop at first.
  • God gave apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers so the saints would no longer be children tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine; Paul charged that some teach no other doctrine, and told the young pastor to give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine, to take heed to himself and to the doctrine, and to continue in them.
  • Even conduct at work is doctrine's witness: servants are to count their masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed — live so that people say, if you want a good employee, hire an apostolic.

Scriptures: Acts 2:38; Ephesians 4:11-14; 1 Timothy 1:3; 1 Timothy 4:13-16; 1 Timothy 6:1

Abide in the doctrine of Christ

  • John, an old man when he wrote, warns of deceivers who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh: whosoever transgresseth and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ hath not God, but he that abideth in the doctrine of Christ hath both the Father and the Son.
  • The Father is the deity and the Son is the flesh — not a first person and a second person: no man knoweth the Son but the Father, neither knoweth any man the Father save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him; deity reveals the Son, and the Son reveals the Father.
  • Jesus says I am the way, the truth and the life, and answers Philip: he that hath seen me hath seen the Father — the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Jesus Christ bodily.
  • He closes with warm water and a change of clothing ready: anyone who wants to be baptized in the name of Jesus, the Bible way, can come down to the front today.

thank you brother Erickson would you put your hands together right now and give God some praise doesn't it feel good at the house of the Lord this morning Brady is the Lord and greatly to be praised you know I thought about where I think about many times the art of communication and as a minister of the gospel of taking the word and trying to communicate the word and and nothing gets lost in the translation nothing nothing gets nothing gets lost there it's a little humorous but I think it might serve is how to communicate but I saw yesterday on social media it's a it's a real clip of a man in a hotel room and he is I think the exact sent from the middle-east and he's in a hotel room and he he calls the front desk and he admits brother William write off he says and his broken English I am sorry my English is not very well but I have a problem and the clerk said well how may I help you he said do you know Tom and Jerry and he said are you talking about the cartoon sir he said yes he said Jerry is in my room he said you have a mouse in your room he said yes Jerry is here and he said come quickly and bring Tom so I wanted to tell you today my English is little four but I want to teach a little truth today how many wouldn't be ready for some truth today they that worship God must worship God what spirit and truth have your Bibles and would stand with me today while you're looking for Matthew chapter 16 and verse number 13 and I do apologize to those that I've given my scriptures to I'm starting a little later and I'll go back to that first verse there in just a moment but we could go ahead and start at Matthew chapter 16 and verse number 13 as a man of God of the pattern of the Old Testament priests the Old Testament priests wore stones on their chest and on their shoulders on their shoulders were stones and there was X into those stones on each shoulder six tribes and it brought up the twelve tribes we're on the shoulders across the priests chest was twelve stones that represented the twelve tribes which the Old Testament typology that New Testament ministers should fulfill today is that we are in an office that we take the people and we bear the burdens of the people but we don't just bear burdens of the people we also wear the people close to our hearts we wear them close to our hearts and what I'm about to teach today I've been on this foundational because when it's time for me to exit this place when either death takes me or either age renders me unable to do this ministry I want to be able to say that I left this church on the right foundation Matthew 16:13 when Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi he asked his disciples saying whom do men say that I the Son of Man am and they say some say that thou art John the Baptist some Elias no there's Jeremias or one of the prophets and he said unto them but whom say ye that I am Simon Peter answered and said thou art the Christ the Son of the Living God jesus answered and said unto Him blessed art thou simon barjona for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee but my father which is in heaven and I say also unto thee that thou art Peter and upon this rock I will feature tens I will build my church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it put your Bibles down father we love you today I lift my hands toward heaven from whence comes my help Lord today I stand here is the man of God for the hour I stand here with the way to the people upon my shoulders and the compassionate love of them upon my chest I pray today God that you would anoint your servant that I would be able to speak the word and that as the word enters the ears and the minds and the heart that a revelation of who you are would come alive upon our hearts we worship You Jesus we worship only one God and Jesus is your name I love you today in Jesus name I do pray amen and amen thank you for standing I was doing a little research this week on today's Bible lesson and I begin to study about buildings that have fallen because of faulty faulty foundations I found one building in Israel where they were having a wedding ceremony in a celebration hundreds of people were there and because of a faulty foundation the floors begin to collapse and it killed several members even members of the wedding party lost their life of that the the bride was not killed but she was injured and had to go to the hospital I I saw where a building had been was being constructed in Florida and they had put fifty seven million dollars into this high-rise building but then someone began to notice that the building was a leaning discovered that it had a faulty foundation and eventually they had to go in and demolish the entire structure and carry it out in tandem dump trucks I looked upon many of things just doing a little research and I came across an article that said and this will be today's lesson the sandy foundation shaken the sandy foundation shaken would you not agree today that if we have a faith worth believing it is a faith worth sharing if we really believe something matter of fact that could become the new gauge of whether or not we do believe it if we believe something it ought to be something we're willing to share we'd want to believe something I'm ashamed about wouldn't want to believe something that I would feel that all men must have and I came across this article the sandy foundation shaken and I've discovered that it was written by William Penn William Penn the founder of Pennsylvania William Penn was born in 1644 and he died in 1718 he was a prominent Quaker leader friend of George Fox his first writing or essay was entitled truth exalted of which he urged laymen church people and clerics pastors to examine the foundation of their faith William Penn wrote an essay of which he challenged he challenged people sitting in pews in the 1600s he challenged them he challenged men that were behind pulpits he challenged them to examine the foundation of their faith his following publication was the sandy foundation shaken this work was declared to be heretical or false doctrine was it was by the church they stamped it foster dolphin he is a heretic he is a false prophet and the reason being the article or essay the sound in the sandy foundation shaken he began to refute deny the belief that the Godhead existed as three separate persons William Penn founder of Pennsylvania wrote an essay the sandy foundation shaken of which he refuted denied that the God had existed as three persons penn underwent imprisonment in the Tower of London from sixteen sixty eight to sixteen sixty nine for one solid year Penn was imprisoned for his article essay the sandy foundation shaken the Bishop of London threatened pen that pen must either recant deny what he had written or they were going to execute him they sent William Penn a letter to the jail the magistrate did that he had one of two choices he could either recant say that what he had written was not true or they were going to execute him to which pen gave his reply and I quote Penn the prison shall be my grave before I will budge one jot the prison shall be my great a jot was a period or a comma or the smallest of letter sit back to the magistrate that the prison would become his grave that he would not budge one jot pen later wrote no cross no crown and he later wrote the innocency with her open face this pamphlet acknowledged the deity of Christ but not the doctrine of the Trinity the intercession of the Duke of York with the King secured pens release now if you go online and you can it's easy that you can download the PDF the shaky foundation his article is there it is hard to read because of the way that they spoke in those days but I'd like to kind of just for a few moments today read you some of this of William Penn he says from all which I shall lay down this one assertion that the testimonies of Scripture both under the law and since the gospel dispensation declare one to be God and God to be one on which I raise this argument he cites Isaiah 40 and 25 to whom will you liken me or shall I be equal sayeth the Holy One pin sites Isaiah 45 five and six I am the Lord and there is none else there is no God beside me I girded thee though thou hast not known me that they may know from the rising of the Sun and from the west there is none beside me I am the Lord and there is none else he cites isaiah 40:8 17 thus saith the LORD thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel he cites Psalm 71 22 I will also praise thee with the psaltery even my truth oh my god even unto thee will I sing with the heart oh thou Holy One of Israel pin site Sakura at chapter 14 and verse number 9 and the Lord shall be king over all the earth in that day there shall be one Lord and his name one he then writes with a cloud of other testimonies that might be urged evidently demonstrate that in the days of the first covenant or Old Testament and prophets but one was the holy God and God that Holy One he goes into Matthew 19:17 where Jesus told the rich young ruler why do you call me good there's none good but one that is God he cites John 17:3 where Jesus said and this is life eternal that they might know thee the only true God and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent he cites Ephesians chapter 4 and 6 1 God father of all who is above all and through all and in you all pen cites first Timothy 2:5 for there is one God and one mediator between God and men the man Christ Jesus he cites Jude chapter 1 verse 25 the only wise God Our Saviour be glory and Majesty he then writes if God as the Scriptures testify have never been declared or believed but as the holy one then will it follow that God is not unholy 3 nor dust subsist in three separate and holy once now now Apostolic Church today the Bible teaches us that there is only one God now I found it very interesting as I was looking just to study I was really going to show you some buildings that had collapse but I have come across William Penn's article the the sandy foundation shaken this is what this man stood up against spent one year in a prison probably nothing like our prisons today I grant you and when told that he could come out if he would recant it sent the King the letter back and said I'll let this jail cell be my tune before I'll take one shot away from what I have written Oh God baptize the church today don't let us grow cold in the fact that we worship only one God as these article ends it has a subheading information and caution we append writes that he says before I shall conclude this head or what we would refer to as the letter it is requisite I should inform the reader concerning its origin now the words he has spent if you read the Sandy found a foundation shaken you'll see that he takes apart the Trinity piece-by-piece and shows how that it does not align with Scripture and he comes to the clothes and he said I want to inform the reader concerning the origin that thou thou mayst assure thyself it is not from the scriptures no reason since so expressly repugnant although all brochures or people that come against of their own inventions strongly endeavor to reconcile them with that holy record in other words what he's saying here you kind of to read him and go back he is saying they are working endlessly they are working they are laboring to somehow twist the scripture for it to fit in to what that they believe here's how he closes see if this doesn't sound familiar no then my friend it was born about 300 years after the ancient gospel was declared sounds like we'd let William Penn come preach for us today he'd beat maybe get a haircut would seem like we need to have him don't know about you but I don't want to be on the show I don't want to be on the sandy foundation I don't want to be on that foundation because I'm not trying to stay a part of a club or a committee I want to hear him say well done good and faithful servant the Bible says they that worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth Jesus asked two questions at Caesarea Philippi who do men say that I am there was a diversity of opinions surely we're not after opinions today we want truth he has two questions who do men say that I the Son of Man a.m. and the second question but who say you that I am he was Peter that spoke up was Peter that said you are the Christ the Son of the Living God upon this Jesus made the remark that he was a blessed man fortunate favor blessed because he knows this we are blessed people today because we embrace the biblical definition of one God he said blessed art thou simon barjona for you did not receive this through flesh and blood but this came to you as a revelation a revealing my identity was revealed to you it was a revelation in if there's something as you hold your Bibles in your hands as I hope you do often and you read this Bible please ask God to reveal himself to you through this Bible ask God to reveal himself jesus said father to Peter that upon this rock I will build my church they didn't say I am currently building the church because the church did not come into existence and to the book of Acts and the Apostles must be important for there's a book in the Bible named after them as a matter of fact the book of Acts is an abbreviation for the actions for the actions of the Apostles for the actions of the Apostles he said upon this rock I will build my church the church did not come into existence until the second chapter of the book of Acts when the Holy Ghost descended and filled 120 of them with the Holy Ghost and the birth of the church happened at Pentecost jesus said upon this rock I will build my church I will future tense it's time not building it now I'm in the process of purchasing because I'm going to purchase the church with my blood but I'm going to build my church with two things my spirit and the Apostles doctrine we must understand that the next time the church is mentioned with the exception of one there is one other time in scripture just a couple of chapters over from from Matthew 16 where the word church is mentioned and it's about resolving trouble but that was in reference to that was in reference to the synagogue the ecclesia the called out of that day but when Jesus said in Matthew 16:18 upon this rock I will build my church that church was birth on the day of Pentecost and the Bible tells us in Acts chapter 2 verse 42 and they continued steadfastly in the Apostles doctrine the Apostles doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread and in prayers fear came upon every soul and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles and all that believed were together and had all things common so their possessions and goods and parted them to all men as every man had need and they continuing daily with one Accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house did ether meet with gladness and singleness of heart listen to verse 47 praising God and having favor with all the people and the Lord added to the church daily what changes from Matthew 16 upon this rock I will build my church to acts 2:47 he adds to the church the church's birth the church is born by the spirit it is birth by the spirit but will you remember one thing that I said when Peter made his maybe confessions not the word but maybe it is the word when Peter looked at him when he asked the question who do men say that I am and who do you say that I am and Peter said you are I know your identity Jesus I know who you are Jesus I know who you are you are the Christ the Son of the Living God and Jesus said flesh and blood did not reveal this to you flesh and blood did not uncover this to you but my father the word reveal means to remove a cover from my father revealed this to you of my identity and then watch this closely upon this rock I will build my church now not upon Peter as some want to say not upon Peter as some claim is the first pope not upon Peter was the church going to be built but all the revelation that Peter had of the identity of Jesus Christ can I tell you we are built not on the sandy shaken foundation of tradition but we are built upon the truth of God's Word that's what makes an Apostolic Church an apostolic church we love to praise our God yes we knew we loved to sing and dance and shout about yes we do but what gives us our foundation when all hell shakes against us is that we worship only one God one God is the Lord Jesus Christ he is not the first not the second not the third he is the one and only the truth and the Living God that's who Jesus is that's his identity Oh Thank You Todd upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it the greatest attack hell had on the church was to take away from the identity of Jesus Christ if we lose the identity of who Jesus is nothing else in the Bible fits together if we don't know the who he is his name has not the relevancy that it should have if we don't know his name like we should baptism loses its flavor if baptism loses its favor the promise of the Holy Ghost loses its flavor if the Holy Ghost loses that then people coming out of sin coming out of a lifestyle of sin praise God I'm not only servant of Jesus that can save me I'm serving of Jesus that can bring me out of sin and that can deliver me of sin come on would you love the God with me today it was called the Apostles doctrine it was called the Apostles doctrine the word doctrine simply means instructions you could say because doctrine has almost become an ugly word in the realm of Christianity today well we have people that absolutely boast that they don't preach doctrine at their church they're proud of it almost like I'm almost something they're proud of you know what my my boy got straight A's in school and they're almost proud that they don't I don't preach any doctrine here well yes you did you preach the doctrine of no doctrine that is your doctor your doctrine is you preach no doctrine but why would we why would we show from the instructions of the Lord why would we want to be why would we want to shun from what the Lord is instructed for the word doctrine simply means in Greek instructions Jesus hadn't doctrine John 7 verse 16 listen to Jesus jesus answered them and said my doctrine is not mine but he is that sent me so Jesus says the instructions I've got or not mine I didn't come up with them it's the one that sent me and then the Apostles doctrine is the instructions of the one who sent them do you understand what I'm saying today dr. doctrine shall we act shall we shall we ever labor to make doctrine the mention of the word doctrine that our hands almost naturally want to come up and say thank the Lord thank the Lord for the right instructions thank the Lord for the right directions thank God for the truth to be our guide was the Apostles doctrine the church was built upon it was the Apostles doctrine that the Lord added to the church daily in Acts chapter 5 in verse number 27 seems like the Apostles were always getting in trouble with the religious order of the day they're now brought verse 27 and when they had brought them the Apostles they set them before the council the religious people and the high priest and asked them saying did not we straightly command you that you should not teach in this name and behold you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine and intent to bring this man's blood upon us now look at how subtly the enemy wants to inject something here your doctrine it's not my doctrine it's him that sent me it's not my doctrine I didn't write the book I'm just the spiritual mailman today don't get mad at the mailman because she's got a bad letter he just delivered the mail I'm just delivering the mail today I'm just wanting to make sure that the mail gets delivered it is your doctrine but here was Peters response now the words that were saying did we straightly tell you not to preach this doctrine then Peter and the other apostles answered and said we ought to obey God rather than man now when we understand the value of the Bible we understand that it's not up for a poll we're not like politicians that want to put something over on the crowd so we'll spend thousands of dollars doing a poll to see how people respond to this down to the very words that that causes people to think listen when it comes to God's Word we're never going to hold it up and say how palatable is it how palatal oh do you you know you know somebody got up and you mentioned you didn't believe in the Trinity and somebody got up and they left the building well I wish they'd stayed and I wish that I heard the truth but we live and the church is you don't have to you don't have to stay here it's not something God's trying to cram down your throat if you don't want it somebody said I but I'm not gonna come to that church coach y'all believe in getting the Holy Ghost well you listed you don't have a fear in this world come around on this if you don't want here you'll get it pardon the grammar but you see today we don't need to I don't care how many people get up and walk out that they don't like the Word of God look at this preacher today let God's Word be true and every man a liar if every one of you got up and walked out of this church today it would not devalue the Word of God not one little bit but I'm glad yes I'm glad you're not walking out today I'm glad we've got some truth lovers in this house today I'm glad we got some people that God has given a revelation of who he come on give the Lord a hand of praise right now doctrine is powerful doctrine is powerful Romans six and fifteen Romans six and fifteen what then shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace god forbid no you're not that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey his servants ye are to whom ye obey whether of sin unto death you can either yield your members sin and it'll lead you to death or you can be obedient unto righteousness but God be thanked that ye were the servants of cinema say that servants of sin but you have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which is something what makes us a message relevant is not if the preacher touches the strings of your heart on your knee but really what makes a message relevant is if you will believe the word preached the word brings power with it the word cannot listen it may not even be touching the need of your life but if you believe the word there's power where the word is being proclaimed or being taught there's power and doctrine look at this but God be thanked that ye were the servants slaves of sin but you have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you being then made free from sin you became the servants of righteousness look at this folks the greatest thing we battle today a sin we battle sin but the Apostles doctrine and their instructions of salvation look at what it does it not only addresses us as sinners but it goes beyond just believe that upon the Lord Jesus Christ believe and confess you're a sinner that's all well and good but it goes even further repent that means have a change of mind you'll never stop doing what you're doing until you see what you're doing through a different lens you can be arrested by the Spirit of God but the only way that you can stay out of sin is to change your view of sin sin is bad sin is death sin is no good sin never has nor ever will make a person happy it's not good it's it's damning it's it's it leads to death and so would you understand don't care how the world wraps it I don't care how the commercials presented I don't care how many people practice it you've got to get in your mind that it is no good that's what repentance is all about thank God for the Apostles doctrine that says repent repent you don't only need to believe on Jesus Christ today but you need to repent of your sins you got to repent of your sins and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins too many people today that they're doing all kind of things trying to do the census of a life that has been lived in sin you listen the pharmacist cannot prescribe you something to know the census of sin the psychiatrist cannot talk to you long enough to know the citizens of sin we sinned come shame where sin comes guilt we sin comes all these different things and the only thing that addresses it is the Apostles instructions repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins a friend when you go down in that name of Jesus I want you to know every single act you've ever committed is going underneath the blood of Jesus Christ you're coming up a new creature you're coming up and if you believe God's Word no more shame no more guilt I'm a free man today I'm a free man come on give him praise and worship in this house and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost let's just break this down let's just break this down for a moment let's say that my addiction is an alcoholic and I stumble into this church and I hear the Apostles instructions I believe in I repent now repentance repentance changes my mind about Jack Daniel's repentance changes my mind about coulda short repentance changes my mind about had a fella work on a boat for me one day and recon our boat was broke down he worked on the boat and brother Brad I said sir how much duh oh yeah he said I think what thing he said when you go into town and get me a pint of wild wild turkey ice I can't do that I can't I can't do that so I begin to see all them liquors through the eyes of a repented man he it stops I don't care how it moves in the glass I don't care the commercial with the guy with the jet plane in the background and the woman on his arm and all of that I begin to see it is the cross in the school I began to see it as the death so it stops at repentance stops it but it's still battling in my heart but when I get baptized it can take what's in my heart about the bar out of my heart I don't want to go there anymore it takes it out of my it takes it how many how many you help me preach today how many of you used to be in bondage to some of these things used to have a hold on it on you but the Apostles doctrine addressed all the stages the stage that we here in when you came what it had a hold on you and you came repentance stops it water baptism takes the bar out of my heart and when I get the Holy Ghost baptism I get the power to walk right by the bar and not be tempted or anything to want to go in but to become a witness of what God has done I'm telling you believing upon Jesus is wonderful but it's like this believing upon Jesus that your Savior it's wonderful but it's like a baseball game it's like a baseball game it's wonderful to be at home play with the bat in your hand waiting for the pitcher to pitch it's wonderful that you're there you got to be there you got to believe I'm on the Lord Jesus Christ you got to believe him on his identity but the first base you got to get to is repentance and when you get to repentance you don't stop in repentance you look at second base nothing goes the scoreboard until you get to second base I gotta get water baptized in Jesus name but just because you got there you're gonna get third base and you need to get the Holy Ghost but when you get the third base you need to look at home base and say I'm headed to the streets of gold and the walls of Jasper I'm headed to that point I wish somebody help me preach a little bit this morning let me just slide down just just simply for time sake just simply for time sake the identity of Jesus Christ well let me let me let me read this one of these these verses here before I go all the way down it visions 4:11 and he gave some apostles some prophets some evangelists some pastors some teachers for the perfecting of the Saints for the work of the ministry for the edifying of the body of Christ till we all come in the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God unto a perfect man unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ that we henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine there's a lot of winds blowing today and Paul is saying the only thing that can mature U is what God gave you in the very beginning he gave you the Apostles doctrine tossed to and fro carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sleight of men by the cunning craftiness whereby they what they lie in wait to deceive it was so important that in first Timothy chapter 1 and verse number 3 listened to the Apostle Paul as he counsels with a young pastor named timothy he says as i besought thee to abide still in Ephesus when I went into Macedonia that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine he later tells that same young pastor in first Timothy 4:13 till I come you're taking the church Timothy 1 I'm going till I come give attendance to reading to exhortation to doctrine pay attention to some of you that may fall prey is there he goes on that one God subject again there he goes on that sub again if you have that mentality today and here in these pews you need to get in touch with God because it's not there he goes it's what the Bible says we need to go back and be reminded and reminded and reminded i'm glad when i first got in church that my pastor just didn't cater to people that had been in church 50 years i'm glad that he began to teach me the doctrine that's why i stand here today as i was taught the doctrine neglect neglect not the gift that is in thee which was given thee by prophecy and the laying on of the Apostles hands of the excuse me in laying on of the hands of the presbytery meditate upon these things give thyself wholly to them that thou profiting may appear to all take heed to thyself and unto the doctrine continue in them for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself and them that hear these sounds like to me that if you wind the clock back 2,000 years and you're in the first century Apostolic Church seems like to me that this message would be right at home at that first century Apostolic Church seems like to me that they taught in the Bible College in the first century Apostolic Church that preachers needed to pay attention to themselves they need to make sure they didn't have sin in their life they need to pay attention to themselves they need to be wholly me and godly men and and unto the doctrine look at that there's two things there you need to pay attention to yourself preacher because you don't need to make shipwreck your life but you need to pay attention to the doctrine because you don't need to shipwreck the lives of other people I need to pay attention to my own life so that I don't lose that with God I need to pay attention to the doctrine so we all don't lose that with God we need to keep the north north south south east east and west west we need to keep that one is one and two is two we don't need to fall to the fog of this world that wants to read you find everything we need to let the word burn brightly we need to let the Word of God burn brightly if you well the clock back 2,000 years and you were in the Apostolic Church this would be the preaching that you would hear - matter of fact as a matter of fact in first Timothy 6:1 he says let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor that the name of God and His doctrine be not blasphemy you would hear messages like this please be on time at your work please be employees that are not sowing dissension please be people on your jobs if your toad wants to take the garbage out you shouldn't grumble and complain and say that last time somebody else did this you would hear a message that would say be a great employee so that they'll look at your God and that the doctrine of your God it was so important that they were to fashion their lives in light of the doctrine it wasn't what I get to do it wasn't what I want to do they live their lives oh come on somebody they live their lives saying how does this make the doctrine look they didn't stand in the mirror and ask how does this make me look they stood in world.you and said how does this make the wonderful doctrine of God look how does this make His Word name may God help us a Pascale's to live such lives that we would have the same testimony as the Amish the Amish are so well in crafting furniture or anything they do that they will advertise it by saying built by Amish and when it's just built by Amish you know I'm getting a good piece of furniture and built by raised by Amish you know I'm getting a good piece of vegetable or fruit or whatever may God help us here then we live such good lives concerned about the doctrine that people would say if you really want a good employee hire an apostolic if you really want somebody to do the job hire an apostolic because it's more than just the Prophet it's more than just your name it's the lovely name of Jesus that we represent today and I don't want that name to be blessing second John and I clothed musicians would you come second John chapter one verse number seven he's about 90 years old when he penned these words for many deceivers are entered into the world who confess not that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh this is a deceiver and an antichrist the first century church was rumored it was false doctrine floating through that Jesus was not flesh he was a wispy angel he was a spirit being John the Apostle said the deceivers have entered in the world that confess not that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh this is a deceiver and an antichrist look to your selves that you lose not those things which we have wrought but that but that we receive a full reward now pay very close attention to this whosoever transgresseth and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ if you don't abide in the instructions of Christ hath not God somebody comes in there they don't abide in the instructions of Christ he said they do not have God he that abideth in the doctrine of Christ he hath both the father and the son Wow if I abide and then if I do not abide by the teachings of Christ the instructions of Christ I have not God but if I abide in the instructions of doctrine of Christ I have both the father and the son now how is this you see the father is the deity the father is the deity the father is not the first person that came with what William Penn tried to warn us about the father is not a first person and the son is not the second person the father is the deity God the Son is the flesh the father is the spirit the son was the flesh back to my opening text back to my opening text blessed are you simon barjona flesh and blood did not reveal this to you but who did my father the father reveals who the son is the father revealed the deity revealed to Peter the spirit the identity of Jesus Christ but Matthew chapter 11 verse number 27 says it this way jesus said in Matthew 11:27 all things are delivered unto me of my father and no man knoweth the Sun but the father neither knoweth any man the father save or except the Son and he to whomsoever the son will reveal him look at this deity reveals who the son is and the son reveals who the father is that wonderful day deity tells us Towe Peter he's not an ordinary man he's not just a Galilean he is the son of the Living God but now the son turns around and says let me reveal the father to you that's why today that's why today in John chapter 14 and verse 6 listen to Jesus very plainly jesus saith unto him I am the way the truth and the life no man cometh unto the father but by me no man can come to deity except through me if ye had known me you should have known my father also and from henceforth he know him and have seen him Philip breaks the silence Philip saith unto Him Lord show us the father and it satisfied us or Sofya us jesus saith unto him have I been so long time with you and yet hast thou not known me Philip he that has seen me has seen the father how say us thou then shew us the father believe us now not that I am in the father and the father in me the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself but the father that dwelleth in me he doeth the works women I'm confused he talks about his father in heaven and then he talks about his father in him and he's right both ways because you cannot put time and space on deity God who is spirit feels all and hears all and you can't put all of God in any building on any planet in any person but God can choose to dwell in flesh the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Jesus Christ Colossians 2:8 the fullness of the godhead dwell in him bodily that's why I could say my father in heaven are not bothering me because he's not talking about another two on two legged person he's talking about the deity would you stand on this Sunday morning with I love you I love you God I love you God I love you I love you oh god I love you I love you I worship You Lord Jesus I want to ship you Almighty God come on worship the Lord right now they didn't worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth come on worship him right now your lord thank you lord thank you once you hear me today William Penn spent one year in prison because he believed in something so strong he said I will not recant when I take one shot away from this mr. King this sale will become my grave before I do can I tell you today search these scriptures don't get upset with your preacher don't get upset with the preacher today I'll get upset with the preacher the sandy foundation is shaking and you better examine you better examine not am I saved according to the denomination but I'm saved in this book here that's what come on could we just spend a few moments today we have warm water here we have a change of clothing there's anyone under the sound of my voice wants to be baptized in the name of Jesus will baptize you the Bible way today and the name of Jesus you just need to come down to the front God is so good brother erikson close us out with that song is you're gay cool to his old astray those tears and big one more time for the edge there one more time father we thank you today Lord I do thank you for a revelation and doctrine that was delivered God I thank you Lord for the Apostles that received it I thank you God for the men and women down for the last 2,000 years that have handed it all I prank you Lord Jesus I think you caught four men like William Penn in the 16th century that stood out voice about truth now father today I thank you I thank you God for the truth of what we heard today father I pray over this congregation right now why every head is bowed and every eye is closed I ask you Lord Jesus to let this word rest in their hearts that it rests in their minds God well there's one thing we must all be assured of our salvation God we must know by the pages of the Bible that we are saved and we are believing and worshiping the way that your word declares for us you know I'd put a holy anointing upon this message today send us forth Jesus name we pray everybody said amen before I dismiss you before I dismiss you let me tell everyone in this building that we have a program here we have an outreach here getting the Bible knowledge of the Bible into the hearts of people we don't just have church with this only at church but we have men and women myself included that are able to teach what's called a home Bible study that doesn't necessarily need have to be taught in your home it just goes by the term of a home Bible study can be taught my wife has taught many Bible studies if the narrow bread and I've taught many Bible studies here in the church not on church days and it's a it's it's it really gives a person an understanding of the Bible it's a one-on-one thing there's not any intimidation it's not a classroom it's just a one-on-one you're so valuable you hear me you are so valuable as an individual that you're worth coming to the church for one person that would want to hear God's Word if you're interested it's free we wouldn't even take any money from you it's free it's ten lessons it's about 40 minutes of lesson it's ideally to be taught once a week for ten weeks at the end of the ten weeks at the end of your investment of 45 minutes for 10 weeks you will be able to pick up the Bible and anywhere in the Bible you'll be able to turn and know what's going on here and who's speaking and what's being spoken and what was going on here my wife and I are going to go to the back door if you give us just a moment we're going to go to the back door of the church and if there's anyone that would be interested if you know anybody that's here if you got a neighbor anyone that is interested in receiving a Bible study please give them our information or get them in touch with us folks the Lord's coming back soon and we need to do everything that we can do to win the loss before it's forever too late god bless you see it prayer 5:30 6 o'clock evangelistic sir
