Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Graven on the heart and on the altar

  • The text is read: the sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron and with the point of a diamond — not written but graven, engraved too deep to erase.
  • The engraving sits in two places at once: upon the table of their heart and upon the horns of your altars.
  • You can never separate your heart from your altar: your heart determines the depth of your altar — good heart, good altar; bad heart, no altar.
  • Children remember their parents' altars and groves: the next generation will remember how you worshiped God, or how you did not.
  • Judah kindled a fire in God's anger that shall burn forever — and God answers with a fire of his own kindling in the chapter's last verse.

Scriptures: Jeremiah 17:1-4

Guard the heart, fix the heart

  • Heart disease is the leading cause of natural death and most of it is preventable; as is the natural, so is the spiritual — treat the inner heart right.
  • Solomon's charge is read: keep and guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.
  • Loving God starts with the heart and works outward, not the reverse: hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord — love him with all thy heart, soul and might.
  • The psalmist's heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: where the heart is set is a decision the believer makes, like a thermostat set on him.
  • Perfect peace is promised to the one whose mind is stayed on God because he trusts in him; torment is treated by putting the mind on Jesus daily.
  • Two days a week in God's presence will not carry a believer this close to the rapture — get into his presence every day, corporate gathering or not.

Scriptures: Proverbs 4:23; Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Psalm 57:7; Isaiah 26:3

Heaven reads the heart

  • In Noah's generation heaven held court, and the verdict turned on the heart: every imagination of the thoughts of man's heart was only evil continually.
  • The fool has said in his heart, there is no God — and the next words are corruption and abominable works; a society that removes God decays morally.
  • Evolution's root is older than Darwin: it is the fool's heart-saying of the psalm, preached centuries before him.
  • The public schools were founded so children could learn to read their Bible; a parent touring the church's daycare objected to the cross being taught, and was told kindly that this may not be the daycare for him — the cross will never stop being preached here.
  • A wise man's heart is at his right hand, a fool's at his left: the right hand is the place of power, honor and acceptance with God, the left the symbol of what he has rejected — choose tonight which hand your heart is in.

Scriptures: Genesis 6:5; Psalm 14:1; Ecclesiastes 10:2

Cursed trust, blessed trust

  • Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his arm, whose heart departs from the Lord.
  • He is like the heath in the desert — alive just long enough on scant nutrients, gone before good comes; the famous who die young are its picture.
  • Blessed is the man whose hope is the Lord: a tree planted by the waters, roots spread by the river, leaf green in heat, still yielding fruit in the year of drought.
  • The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked — no one fixes his own heart; the Lord searches the heart and tries the reins, and the reins are the body's filter: let him flush out the offense until less and less of it comes through.
  • The partridge sits on eggs it did not lay and hatches what will leave it: do not spend your life on things that will walk away — spend it on the one who will never leave you nor forsake you.

Scriptures: Jeremiah 17:5-8; Jeremiah 17:9-11

Remember the Sabbath

  • Jeremiah is sent to stand in the gates and preach the Sabbath to kings, Judah and all Jerusalem: bear no burden, do no work, hallow the day — the preacher tonight is doing what Jeremiah was told to do.
  • Sabbath here is not one day only: remember every day of the week that you are a child of God.
  • They obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff.
  • If they will hallow it, kings and princes will enter the gates and the city will remain forever — remember God in your heart and he will add people to you.
  • If they will not, God kindles the fire in the gates that devours the palaces and cannot be quenched.

Scriptures: Jeremiah 17:19-27

Nehemiah at the gates, and the altar

  • Nehemiah saw men treading wine presses and bringing burdens into Jerusalem on the Sabbath, and there dwelt men of Ty who brought fish and all manner of wares and sold on the Sabbath to the children of Judah.
  • He contended with the nobles of Judah: what evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the Sabbath day? To profane is to pierce and wound; careless worship wounds the testimony your children feed on.
  • He shut the gates before the Sabbath and set his servants at them, for one man cannot stand at every gate: faithfulness is kept by people who speak the same thing.
  • When the merchants lodged outside the wall once and again, he warned them — if you do so again, I will lay hands on you — and from that time they came no more on the Sabbath.
  • The word ends in prayer: remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.
  • The service closes in rededication: the nobles of the house — every member over the age of 65 — walk the crowd praying, and the story is told of an old man carried out from shore on a float, crying for help — the picture of drifting; the cry of the night is help me, God.

wilst thou th their children remember their altars and their Groves by the green trees upon the high hills oh my mountain in the field I will give thy substance and all thy Treasures to the spoil and thy high places for sin throughout all thy borders and thou even thyself shalt discontent continue from thine her thine Heritage that I gave Thee I will cause thee to serve thine enemies in the land which thou knowest not for ye have kindled a fire that's it's it's interesting you have kindled a fire in my anger which shall burn forever you have kindled a fire you have kindled a fire in my anger that shall burn forever go to the very last verse of chapter 17 verse 27 but if ye will not hearken unto me to hallow the Sabbath day and not to Bear a burden even entering in at the gates of Israel starting a fire and then you've got God kindling a fire for a few moments tonight I want to minister on the subject and I understand a lot of times when you read some of the Old Testament prophets it comes across in a very negative way but do you know that if they would heed to the words of the Prophet it would turn out positive if they would turn it around but for a few moments on this Sunday evening tonight I want to minister to you on the story of your heart and your altar the story of your heart and your altar father I love you tonight Lord there's nothing like your word Lord I Thank you that your word is a lamp and a light your word God is a compass your word oh God is the connection that we have with you Lord Jesus tonight for the next few moments would you allow the hearts and the decisions of your people Lord I'll give you the praise for that anointing for I am not worthy God but your anointing Lord will make the difference and I will give you the glory in Jesus wonderful name we pray amen and amen you may be seated go back to verse one of chapter 1 verse one of chapter 17 he said the sin of Judah is written with a pen get the imagery now with a pen of iron now that no doubt would be a very heavy pen that would be a very very heavy pen in and of itself it would be very heavy simply lay it upon the paper or part M that they would write within that day simply lay the pen there and the weight of the pen alone would make an indention there on the paper but he said your sin your sin is written with a pin of iron but it doesn't stop there and with the point of a diamond not only is that a heavy pin that the weight itself would make an impression the very point of the pin is a diamond that's able to cut so deeply is to cut between the Surface and he said your sin Judah is written with a pen of iron and with the point of a diamond it is it is Graven now notice he starts using the words now not written he says your sins are not written because your sins are so heavy and so so pointed he said that it is Graven it is it's not writing it's engraving upon the table notice where it's at now upon the table of their heart so your your your sins are so heavy your sins are so heavy that your heart tells the story of of your life your heart tells the story your heart is a story book God says to Judah your heart is a story book and God opens up the heart and Page after page because the pin is heavy and the point is sharp but he not only said that your sin is Graven upon the table of your heart but he said it's it's also written upon the horns of your altars as I begin to read that the Holy Ghost begin to deal with my heart and uh I I begin to think things I begin to think out loud and maybe even speak out loud that you never can separate your heart from your altar you never can separate your heart from your altar your heart determines the depth of your altar good heart good altar bad heart no altar found a little research on the natural heart of a man of a person heart disease do you realize that a heart disease is the leading cause of death for men women and people of most racial and ethnic groups in the United States now listen to this one person dies every 33 seconds in the United States of America from cardiovascular disease one person every 33 seconds dies in one of the 50 states because of a heart disease about 695,000 people in the UN United States died from heart disease in the year of 2021 that is for every five people that died in the United States in 2021 for every five people that died one died from heart disease well as is the natural so is the spiritual we do understand about heart disease that the vast majority of heart disease can be altered that you can do things you can eat right you can exercise right you can prevent it's preventable is the word I want to say it is preventable I know that some heart disease is hereditary but the vast majority of heart disease is preventable if people would just treat their heart right now you know I haven't come tonight to preach a health message to you although I think we can all take a sting or two tonight from pastor but yet I want to address that heart that's on the inside of you and I that heart that's the most important thing in our lives that heart that should pump the passion for Jesus Christ Every Beat of our spiritual heart should pump a passion for Jesus Christ it ought to be easy to worship God it ought to be in the fullness of who he is and beautiful how wonderful he is that I submit to you tonight if you ever find it a drudgery to come to the house of God if you ever find it a drudgery to worship God if you ever find it a drudgery and something hard to keep your mind on God I submit to you tonight it's time to pay attention to your heart and start treating your heart right because if you lose that heart my friend you and I have lost everything amen our hearts are very important our hearts are very important the wisest man to ever live his name was Solomon besides Jesus Christ the wisest man to live proverbs chap 4 and verse number 23 Proverbs simply said this he said keep guard watch thine heart with all diligence why should I guard my heart why should my heart be something that's guarded why should I make sure the right words come out of my mouth why should I make sure the right thoughts are allowed to Lodge in my heart because the man said for out of it are the issues of life the way we are who we are our personalities can all be Trace back to what we have allowed to come into our hearts oh I want to be a worshipper of Jesus Christ Moses when writing when writing the book of Deuteronomy chapter 6 verse 4 of which we're most familiar with he tells Israel to hear oh Israel the Lord our God is one Lord but don't stop there and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with what's he start with what's he start with you are to love the Lord thy God somebody say it with me you're to love the Lord thy God with all thy heart with all thy soul and with all thy might sometimes we try to get it turned around if I can jump high enough might I I I I can fall in love with Jesus can I tell you loving God doesn't start with the outside and works in it starts with the inside and works out and if you know how to love him he is a God that we need to love with everything about us he is so easy he is so easy to love you see you may you may understand it's really easy to stay in love with God just stay out of love with the world it's easy to love the right things just purpose in your heart what's the wrong thing and when the wrong things try to creep in and take the place of the right thing you're in trouble but if you could stay in love with God I'm going to tell you you will bypass a boatload of heartache and anguish if you can just stay in love with God the psalmist chides in the psalmist says in Psalms 5 7 verse number s he says my heart is fixed my heart is fixed now that doesn't mean it was broken we use the word fixed in in in reference to things that are broken but when he says my heart is fixed that means I have set the thermostat of my heart upon you oh God I have set the thermostat I decide I decide I'm setting my thermostat on you God my heart is fixed oh God my heart is fixed I will sing and give praise so the writer tells us there that it is something that we have the decision we have the decision Church where we set our hearts we have that decision whether we set it on the things that are temporal the things of this world that are are temporal the things of this world that will soon perish you understand when you read the Bible I'm here to Herald this message tonight when you read the Bible this Earth is going to be consumed with fire one day everything we see one day is going to be burned up everything you see is going to be burned up and there'll be a new Heaven in A New Earth but why should we put our heart on something that is going to be burned up one day and we can't even keep it I submit to you tonight on a on a Sunday evening it's time to set our heart on something that is eternal and that something is God some the Young The Young want to fix their heart on their looks the young want to stay beautiful the young want to stay what what the world calls beautiful the world tells us what is beautiful but I refuse to set my thermostat on what the world says is beauty the world says wrinkles are something wrinkles or something that you need to get rid of the wrinkles are something that are bad I can't help it our Bible says wrinkles are the storylines of righteous men in God that have lived righteous lives and you can try to be Forever 21 and you're just going to stand in the Gap and be most disappointed one day because that's not a reality we're aging you were dying from the time you were consumed in your mother's womb you begin a slow death march to a place called death but oh whether age comes or not we need to lift up and say God my heart is not fixed on my complexion my heart is not fixed on what people say think about me but God tonight my heart is fixed oh God my heart is fixed upon you the Bible tells us in Isaiah chap 26:3 listen to this if you're troubled tonight listen to this if you're tormented tonight please listen to this if your spirit is troubled and it's boiling like a pot of water on a stove please listen to Pastor tonight thou wil keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed upon thee because he trusted in thee can I tell you tonight if you're having trouble with torment why don't you just put your mind upon Him Jesus put your mind upon Him meditate upon on him sing about him and let me get to one of the points of my message tonight I'm going to talk about keeping the Sabbath day I'm going to talk about staying in the house of God but folks we are nigh the Rapture of the church we can't get in God's presence two days out of the week brother Hammond we can't just get in God's presence on Wednesday and Sunday we got to get in God's presence although it may not be a corporate Gathering it may not be the church Gathering but every day of your life CH s church we need to get up and we need to get in the presence of the King of Kings and the Lord of lords you're not going to have peace if all you're doing is looking at the economy you're not going to have peace if all you're doing is continually listening to Fox and CNN and all these other news stations you're not going to want to have peace if you're listening to all the music the secular music of the world and the secular entertainment of the world I'm sorry you're not going to have peace you got to learn how to get up of the morning with Jesus on your mind you got to get up every morning and start singing he's wonderful he's beautiful my Jesus my precious God he's wonderful he's beautiful come on give him some praise here in the house tonight your heart's very important your heart's very important as a matter of fact what's going on inside of your heart right now determines Heaven's court and the verdicts that heaven's Court will pass on you whether God's going to be merciful to you whether God's going to give you more time whether God is going to make decisions about your life you see in the Book of Genesis little did they know when every man did that was which was right in his own eyes when every man made his own conscience and became his own Bible when Every Man's motto what is if it feels good do it they didn't understand that heaven was holding court and in Genesis 6 and verse number five and God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagin ation of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually when they were walking with shoulders back noses in the air arrogant cocky and prideful when every man did that which which which was good in his own eyes if it feels good do it they didn't know that heaven was holding court that day and heaven was deciding whether I'm going to spare this generation or whether I'm going to bring a flood and and Destroy them all but it all came down to what they were thinking in their heart oh tonight I want my heart to be right with god oh tonight I want my heart to be right with God I haven't come to sermonize I haven't come to keep you mesmerized with a message that you're going to say I remember this message you may not remember the title but I'm here to tell you tonight if we don't get a hold of our hearts and begin to tell our hearts you need to get fixed on God you need to get fixed on God you're standing trying to praise God and you're changing the oil in your car you're standing trying to worship God and you're going you're trying to figure out a conversation that you're going to have tomorrow in the name of Jesus you've got to expel that from your heart and you've got to begin to say God I love you God I need you God Direction comes can I tell you you can blame it on Charles Darwin you can blame Evolution on Charles Darwin but evolution was founded in Psalms 14 and verse number one it simply says the fool has said in his heart there is no God notice what happens next they are corrupt that means decayed morally when Society refuses to embrace a God that Society is in for moral corruption and moral rot are we surprised today with transgender movements are we surprised today with gender identity crisis for God's sake are we surprised don't start looking at the person the person's heart is the place because when a society removes prayer from its public school system when a society do you know why we even got Public Schools do you know why our nation even founded the public school system so our children could learn to read their Bible that's why we have the public school system but how far removed are we from that because several decades ago they said you cannot pray you cannot open up the day in prayer and now in our Public Schools every type of false Doctrine and deity is being preached is it is it any idea is it any wonder that we have the violence and the crime and the confusion in our societ society today why they said there is no God and when they did they became corrupt and they have let me finish reading they said there's no God they are corrupt they have done abominable works there is none that doeth good oh yes I want you to know that in this Sunday school and in this Christian school and in this day care they're going to hear about a god of creation they're going to hear about a god of creation come on we ought to be thankful for that right there I want our kids to graduate I want them to go to UT I want them to go to pppi I want them to go to all the colleges and the universities but they're not going to teach that we got to have them ready when they go there that they know there is a God several years ago I passed sister Jeter in the hallway and she was showing a parent she was showing a parent a parent to come to take a tour of the daycare to put their child in our daycare and as I just passed them with a few pleasantries of how you all doing I walked off and I was still an earshot and the man she was leading given the tour looked up at a picture on the wall that had a cross of Jesus and I think it was a picture of one of the play one of the programs that we had he stopped there and I heard him say none of this none of this I don't want none of this taught is what he was saying none of this none of this so I eased back around sister Jeter so kindly gave the tour and I told sister Jeter I said said you need to let him know that we will never stop preaching the cross and as kindly as I can now some of you going judge me on this as kind as I can I I told her you may want to tell him that this may not be the daycare for you cuz we don't have a daycare we don't have a daycare to pay a building note we don't have a daycare to make money we've got a daycare to evangelized little children to Bow their head and to pray over their meal we we we have a car r the fool has said there is no God Ecclesiastes Ecclesiastes chapter 10 verse number two Ecclesiastes chapter 10 verse number two boy if this is not the decision tonight right there sitting in your pews could you just take both your hands and put them out like this because I'm going to read you a scripture leave your hands out there please Ecclesiastes 10 and 2 a wise man's heart is in his right hand but a Fool's heart is in his left you see right has always been a place you put your hand down now you right has always been a place of power honor and acceptance with God left has always been a symbol of rejection what God has rejected remember on Judgment day he tells the Sheep Nations he tells the Sheep Nations come to the right come to my right hand he tells the goat Nations to go to the left hand the left hand has always been a symbol of rejection what God has rejected you know tonight we stand with two hands and we can either choose to be wise and put our heart in our right hand or we can choose to be Wicked and we can choose to live a life that God has rejected hear me tonight God loves praise hear me tonight God loves worship hear me tonight God loves for us to read his word and order our Steps By His holy word God loves repentance God loves water baptism God loves to fill people with the Holy Ghost God loves to change people's lives choose tonight which hand is your heart in going back back to genes excuse me going back to Jeremiah chapter 17 God is very angry with his people the sin of Judah is written with a pin of iron and with the point of a diamond I've not only written Your Story upon your heart but I've written Your Story upon your altar you cannot separate your heart from your altar the place where you worship your God verse number two wilst their children remember their altars and their Groves by the green trees upon the high hills your children are going to remember how you worship God hear me tonight Church our children are going to remember how we worship God or they'll remember how we didn't worship God verse three oh my mountain in the field I will give thy substance and thy Treasures to the spoil in the high places for sin throughout all the borders he goes down and he simply says Wicked Judah the way that you're living verse four is that you've kindled a fire and in my anger that fire shall burn forever you've you've kindled a fire you've kindled a fire can I tell you something tonight sin is something you don't want to play with it's an old wore out phrase but it's so true sin will cost you more than you want to spend and sin will take you further than you want to go and sin will keep you longer than you want to stay when you are through with sin I got news for you sin is not through with you he said Judah you've kindled a fire and I'm angry and it shall burn forever what is this fire look at verse five thus sayith the Lord cursed be the man that trusteth in man and maketh flesh his arm and whose heart that word is again departs departeth from the Lord cursed is the man that trusteth cursed is that man that trusteth in man that maketh flesh his arm whose heart departed from the Lord isn't it amazing how the world can can raise up a hero an athlete a singer a musician and the world puts him on a pedestal a he or a she the world will put him on a pedestal whether he's an athlete or a singer or a rock star or whatever and not long that singer athlete can be can endorse a fashioned line of clothing and it's not long until you have many imitations they'll cut their hair like that athlete brother Hammond they'll wear their hair like that movie star Paris they'll wear their clothes they'll do everything trying to identify with that athlete that movie star that rock star Etc but have you ever have you ever seen when a kid will stumble in an Apostolic church a little girl will stemble in an Apostolic church and begin to look around and see how real real women dress and how real women act and how real women walk and how real women carry themselves and all of a sudden they want to dress and all of a sudden they want to act like a lady and all of a sudden they want to carry thems in a good way but they may have a cousin or an uncle that's going to get all upset and say oh that's a cult down there that ain't nothing but a cult it's all right to trust in the man's flesh to dress like they dress and to act like they act but let somebody come in the house of God listen the true people the true people are the God given people that serve God that's who I want my daughters to look at that's who I want my grandsons to imitate I want my grandsons to imitate Ben Lee I want my grandsons to look at him worshiping God and say that's what I want to be like I want my granddaughters I want I want my granddaughters to imitate some sister Bryant's some sister jeters I want my my granddaughters to to imitate some sister Hollands come on folks some sister sards you may be seated how many are thankful tonight how many of you young mothers how many of your mothers tonight raising teenagers are thankful that you've got a pastor's wife oh yeah that's an example of what a Godly woman ought to look like and act like and worship God what I'm telling you our hearts our hearts cursed is a man that trust verse six for he shall be like the heath in the desert the heath is a small plant that just lives long enough because it's sucked enough nutrients out of the ground and out of the air just to be here for a fleeing little while it's here today it's gone tomorrow for he shall be like the heath in the desert and shall not see when good cometh he doesn't last long enough to see any good come to his life you ought to you ought to take note all these rich and famous people people Hollywood all these rich and famous people all these rich and famous people that are dying of drug overdose not all of them not all of them but it seems like a vast majority it seems like they never grow old he says for he shall be like a heath in the desert shall not see when good cometh but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness in a salt land and not inhabited sound like something I don't want to be but here's where I'm at blessed is the man that trusteth in the and trusteth in the Lord whose hope is the Lord for he shall be like a tree planted By the Waters that spreadeth out her Roots by the river and shall not see when the heat cometh but her leaves shall be green and shall not be careful careful in the year of drought neither shall cease from yielding fruit in other words which do you want to bury your heart in tonight the foolishness of this world where you're here today and gone tomorrow the the foolishness of trying to say I'm not pretty there is a lot there is a lot of teenagers that are suffering from emotional anxiety because they have been told by Hollywood and the Barbies and all of that this is how you ought to look you hear your preacher tonight your preacher wants to preach to your soul tonight that's not reality you are beautiful how do you know I'm beautiful brother Carpenter that's the way God made you that's the way God Made You I rebuke the spirit of anxiety that tries to get on our children that tries to tell them they're not this or not that young girl put your heart in the hand of God and you're beautiful young man put your heart in the hand of God and your would you want to be like a small brown lifeless weed tumble weed or do you want to be like a tree planted By the Waters verse 9 the heart is deceitful watch verse n please the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked who can know it I the Lord search the heart and try the Reigns even to give to every man according to his ways and according to the fruit of his doing you can't fix your heart on yourself you got to have an altar that you come to and verbally say God search my heart and you got to have two ears to listen to him when he tells you about spirits and attitudes and words and behavior that's not right you've got to come because remember my message you can't separate your heart from your altar you don't have it in you to fix yourself you don't have it in you to correct yourself you can go through life kicking and bucking and you'll just go through life kicking and bucking or you can decide I don't know how to lead my life let me go to the Altar and let the Lord begin to search my heart now notice this he said I the Lord search the heart I try the Reigns that's an interesting word there I try the Reigns that Hebrew word for Reigns is kidneys it would be like reading it it saying I the Lord search your heart and I search your kidneys you say what in the world would that be our kidneys is our blood filter it is our blood that goes through our kidneys that filters out the waste in our body if you have a kidney failure it is a life and death situation you've got to have healthy kidneys they filter out the waist and send the waste outside the body the the writer here says I want you to search my heart oh God and I want you to make sure I got a good filter system on my heart because there's some things that don't need to keep coming through and coming through and coming through somebody offended me you better get your kidney you better get that filter flushing that out and every time it comes through it's a little bit less offensive and it's a little bit less offensive because it's going out of the body and it's going on the altar oh I'm preaching to you tonight church I'm preaching about your heart tonight Hall I try the rain to give to every man and look at verse 11 as the Partridge sth on eggs and hatchthe not so he that GTH riches and not by right shall leave them in the midst of his days and at his end shall be a fool partridge he a very interesting bird it has one horrible habit it has one horrible habit if it finds eggs laid by another type of bird if it finds eggs laid by another type of bird it will set on those eggs spend its time on those eggs and hatch those eggs well how how's that ridiculous well what happens when what is hat has a few days and a few weeks to realize I am not I didn't come from that Partridge I didn't come from that and that bird leaves the Partridge that spend its time and energy hatching what was going to one day look and say I don't belong to you I'm going somewhere else and so the the story there is this we spend our life we spend our time and our passion on things that going to walk away from us why not spend our time on something that said I will never I will never leave you nor forsake you but Jeremiah comes down to the problem he comes down to the problem and in verse 19 of chapter 17 of of Jeremiah he says in verse 19 thus saith thus said the Lord unto me go and stand in the gates of the children of my people whereby the kings of Judah shall come in and by which they shall go out and in all the Gates of Jerusalem and say unto them hear ye the word of the Lord ye Kings of Judah and all Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem that entereth in by these Gates thus sayeth the Lord take heed to yourselves to bear no burden on the Sabbath day nor bring bring it in by the Gates of Jerusalem neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the Sabbath day neither do any work but hallow ye the Sabbath day as I have commanded you now I I I'm doing I am actually doing what the Prophet Jeremiah was told to do God said Jeremiah go down among the people and begin to remind them about the worship day of the Sabbath go down to the street corners and holler at them and tell them hey you got to remember the Sabbath you can't don't don't don't be doing any work on the Sabbath don't be carrying burdens on the Sabbath the Sabbath day is for you to worship you to worship your God I I'm just doing like Jeremiah tonight that's the truth I'm just here in this place tonight and I'm standing and I'm lifting my voice and I'm telling you precious people remember the Sabbath day remember I'm not just talking about one day I'm talking about every day of the week remember you're a child of God every day of the week I'm not called to quote po poetry I'm not called tonight to give you a motivational speech I'm not called to be a sermonizer tonight I'm called to stand in the gate and remind you to remember the Sabbath day remember you are the children you are the children come on love him right now with me come on love him right now with me love him right now with me love him love him right now with me would you love God with me right now come on love him right now love him do you love the Lord do you love the Lord do you love the Lord oh do you love the Lord that that oh oh Jesus God help us Lord do you love the Lord Church put old Jeremiah down there verse 23 Bears it out but they obeyed not neither inclined their ear but made their NE neck stiff that they might not hear nor receive instruction and it shall come to pass if you will diligently hearken unto me sayeth the Lord to bring in no burden through the gates on this of this city on the Sabbath day but hallow the Sabbath day to do no work therein then shall there enter into the gates of of this city Kings and princes sitting upon the throne of David riding in his chariots and on his horses they and their princes the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and this city shall remain forever he said if you'll remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy he said I'll start adding people to you I'll start bringing Kings and princes I'll start I'll start I'll start adding people to you if you can remember who you are and worship me on this day I'll start adding people to you and you'll always be a people but if not then you will be diminished verse 26 and they shall come from the cities of Judah and from the places about Jerusalem and from the land of Benjamin and from the plain and from the mountains and from the south and from the south bringing burnt offerings and sacrifices and meat offerings and incense and bringing sacrifices of Praise into the house of the Lord but if you will not hearken unto me to hallow the Sabbath day and to not bear a burden even entering in at the Gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day then I will Kindle a fire in the gates there of and it shall Devour the Palaces of Jerusalem and it shall not be quenched well it seems like the pivotal time here is God is just simply saying remember to put me in your heart remember to keep me in your heart if you keep me in your heart I'll bless you and I'll bring people to you but if you ever forget this sabbath day if you ever carry burdens it's just another day he said I'll Kindle a fire I'll Kindle a fire and nobody can quench it you said brother Caron I think you're being I just really do think that you're being just a tad bit on the radical side tonight if you think that then never say again never say again never say again I'd like to have lived during the Bible days because in the book of Nehemiah chapter 13 Nehemiah chapter 13 and verse number 15 Nehemiah stepped out one day and he saw something look closely at verse 15 he saw something in those days saw I in Juda some treading wine presses on the Sabbath and bringing in sheaves and loading asses as also wine grapes and figs and all manner of burdens which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day and I testified against them in the day wherein they sowed vitual he said I got down there among them I found them working on the Sabbath day and I got down there among them brother Wimberly and I begin to testify against them I begin to tell them this ain't right to do on the Sabbath Day verse 16 there dwelt even men of Ty and therein were brought fish and all manner of wear and sold on the Sabbath day un the children of Judah and in Jerusalem so it was a other people that came around verse 17 listen to Nehemiah then I contended rebuked got in their face with the Nobles of Judah That's the older leadership can I tell you we ought to live for God till we die I said we ought to live for God till we die we we ought to come to church as faithful When We Were Young and healthy as we are now when we're older and struggling with health as long as we can walk as long as we can go if this church loses Direction it loses it from the older people down right I said Bill Car you you don't know how bad can you go get your hair fixed well you saying give her a microphone first lady's going after it tonight you can go to all these different different places I can hear my clock ticking right now you can go to all these different places we going back to co days aren't we you could only get Co at church you couldn't get it at Walmart you couldn't get it at the mall you couldn't get it at restaurant you can only get it at church and that's a mindset that wants to get into us when we're older yes maybe I don't have the strength to keep up the job like I once did but I always ought to keep up the strength to be a walking talking testimony of the faithfulness of God I I'm going to tell you what I I wouldn't want to battle I'm going to tell you the regret the regret that I wouldn't want to live with I wouldn't want to live with the regret that when I could go to the house of God I didn't go to the house of God and then I lose the ability to walk and I lose the ability to go and then I begin to wish I had went when I could you better go older people you better go to church while you you can walk and if you can go see your doctor you can come see the great position if you can go around town you can come here he said come on love him tonight love him tonight then I contended with the Nobles of Judah and said unto them what evil thing is this that ye do and profane the Sabbath day the word profane means to pierce and to wound when we don't honor God in our worship we wound Our Testimony you can't have a lifechanging testimony to your children and to your grandchildren if you're wounding and profaning your worship it is your worship that gives the power of your testimony said what what is this that you've done to profane the Sabbath verse 19 18 did not your fathers thus haven't you learned your lesson did not our God bring all this evil upon us and upon this city yet you bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the Sabbath he gave them a good rebuking and it came to pass that when the Gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath that's the night before the Sabbath I commanded that the gates should be shut shut and charged that they should not be open till after the Sabbath and some of my servants set I at the gates that there should be no burden be brought in on the Sabbath day I'm going to tell you something this pastor Nehemiah here can't do it all by himself I need me some servants that speak the same thing Nehemiah said I can't be at every gate I I need me the one or somewhere I I I I I need I I need me a Dwayne and Sandy somewhere I need me this what we need here tonight right he said I put them on around the gates they make sure nothing was being brought in on Sabbath Day verse 20 but watch this so the so the merchants and the sellers of all kind of wear lodged without Jerusalem not once or twice he said I got to notice in these people from other nations coming up the road looking like a bunch of gypsies with with with look like a look like a a Green Acres flea market coming down the road here they had get up around the walls trying to entice God's people he said I watched them not once or twice verse 21 y'all ready for this then I testified against them and said unto them now these are for your folks you're a little radical tonight brother Carpenter oh I wish I was living in the Bible days okay hold on hold on then I testified against them and said unto them why Lodge ye about the wall if you do so again I will lay hands on you and he ain't talking about anointing with oil some of you are looking at me this is a Kodak listen the camera needs to be this this way tonight not this way right now but thank God for Nehemiah because Nehemiah Nehemiah was protecting the Sabbath day he said I will lay hands on you and from that time forth came they no more on the Sabbath day you know what there's some spirits that just need a good threatening and I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves and that they should come you still with me at verse 22 everybody still with me tonight verse 22 that they should I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves and that they should come and keep the gates and to sanctify the Sabbath day you still you still at verse 22 is it over I think he's about to pray I think he's went from rebuking and commanding I think he's went to praying now remember me oh oh my God concerning this also and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy listen a lot of things can be said when you're gone a lot of things can be said at your memorial celebration of life service a lot of things can be remembered but the lifechanging thing the Legacy we can leave behind would be this my papa believed in going to the house of God my papa but my daddy and mama believed in going to the house of God they'll squander away the quarter of a million dollars you left them they'll squander away everything you left them but if you can leave them a legacy if you can leave a legacy I was in the house of God oh love him right got to talking and he told me a story he said um he said I was down here the other day and he said I really believe that God led me here he said I was doing my walk and he said I sat down and I was just listening to the ocean I was just listening and then he said I could barely Chris I could barely hear somebody crying out help me help me and he said I looked around and then it would come and go there would be silence and then I could hear help help help me and he said I looked out as far as just about I could see and I saw something move and I thought it was a dolphin way out but I began to walk and as I walked and I be to swim the voice got louder and louder and louder until finally he got to a worn out frail 80 some odd year old man that got on a small little float and was just floating there a few feet from the from the from the shore and ever so slowly without him recognizing when he got up from his float to look around he was a tremendous distance from the shore but as he was trying to swim as hard as he could the Rip Tide kept pushing him out and he said the man told me I knew I was a goner unless somebody would Hear My Cry help me I believe that all of us tonight
