would you stand with me tonight for the reading of God's word Proverbs Chapter number 30. verse 24. can't get away from it open my bible now I think my Bible's fall into proverbs 30 24 as often as it does Acts 2 38. there's so much here tonight there's so much here verse 24 of chapter 30. there be four things which are little upon the Earth but they are exceeding wise everybody say wise the answer are people not strong yet they prepare their meat in the summer the conies are but a feeble folk yet they make their houses in the rocks the locusts have no King yet they go forth all of them by bands the spider take a hold with her hands and is in King's palaces I want to continue I've not gotten off the subject we're still talking about prayer a throne room of God pray for tonight that you'll receive the word and I'm going to pray that I can give the word father anoint my lips tonight of clay that I may speak your word Lord I Thank you for the men and women God many of them have gotten off work and Lord on this midweek service God they have come in a hurry to your house Lord I pray that you touch Our Minds tonight Lord touch our bodies tonight that Lord that we could receive Lord your word God that we could receive strength and direction Lord from your word Lord if you will anoint your servant I will be ever careful and mindful to give you praise honor and glory in Jesus name I do pray amen and amen again give the Lord a hand of Praise he is come on give him a good hand of Praise He's Worthy he is Worthy as children of God you may be seated as children of God we are living in the worst of times as far as morals are concerned we are living there has never been a more dangerous culture than what you and I are living in tonight there's never been there's never been the high murder rate there's never been um the senseless cruel brutal mistreatment and harm that people innocent people like we're living and we're seeing we are living in the worst of times as far as morals are concerned but yet we are living in the best of times in view of opportunities we are living in the worst of times as far as morals are concerned but when it comes to opportunities there has never been another time in the history of 2000 years of the history of the Church of Jesus Christ there has never been a time that we have had the opportunities as we have right now to work for God opportunities to live and enjoy a blessed life from God what an opportunity we have to live for God what opportunities we have to live for God what what opportunities we have to be blessed of God being small in number or influence on the world stage we are small on the world stage we are small we are peculiar peculiar learn we are I'll get it out odd strange we are on the world stage they look at us it's odd different but yet if you and I stay focused on God and what really matters our smallness can work to our advantage if we can stay focused on what really matters yes we're small when it comes to religions and all of this yes we're small but don't you ever forget don't ever forget don't don't ever don't ever try to serve God in the majority don't don't ever say well I I don't want to stick out I don't I don't I don't like I don't like being in the minority truth the matter is we are in the minority but so was Noah and you do realize that we would not be here tonight if it wasn't for a man that didn't care to be in a minority he was only eight people were saved the Earth the Earth's population there was only eight people there's only eight people that were saved but you and I we don't need to look at our smallness as something as a stigma the Bible said there's four things upon the Earth that are small insignificant looked at and viewed as not important but they make up for their smallness by their wisdom they make up for their smallness by how wise that they are the first thing all of us need to understand tonight we need to come to an understanding and accepting our frailness our frailness we live in a culture that age is a taboo word we live in a culture that frowns on wrinkles and you can do everything you can to stay young but God knows the truth you're going to enter into a season where you're just trying to convince yourself everybody around you is know that you're not young anymore oh come on somebody Forever 21 is a store because the world's telling us wrinkles are bad age is bad could always be young truth the matter is tonight it'd be wise for you and I to accept our frailness and our weakness we are weak we are weak but yet it's only when I can view myself as frail and weak that I can truly turn my eyes upon him who is a strong one and he who is the strong one accepts my humble acceptance of God I'm weak God I'm frail and when I am weak then is God strong on our behalf if I'm strong God let me handle it on my own if I've got the attitude I don't need him God will come take a chair and sit off to the side and watch us wreck our lives and wait for us to run back and say God wasn't as strong as I thought it was I need you Lord Jesus said in John 15 and John chapter 15 and verse number 5 look at it with me look at the words of Jesus here Jesus said I am the Vine and ye are the branches he that abideth in me and I in him the same bringeth forth much fruit see if y'all need a Greek or a Hebrew teacher on this last phrase for without me ye can do nothing do we need to break that down any he said I'm the Vine I'm the vine you're not the Vine I'm the Vine I'm the trunk that brings the nutrients I'm the trunk that goes down into the Earth and brings up the nutrients I am the time you don't have a Vine hanging out in the middle of nowhere Vines are connected or branches are connected to Vines and because the branch is connected to a vine it gets its life from the Vine Jesus said I am the Vine and you are the branch and without me can can we remember the verse again and without me you can do what oh come on now you can do what you can do what I can do nothing without him Romans chapter 9 Romans chapter 9 and verse number 21 Paul is talking and he says in Romans 9 21 hath not the Potter power over the clay of the same lump to make one vessel and to honor and another unto dishonor he said does the Potter not have power over the clay the clay has no power the clay just has to stay formidable moldable pliable if the clay ever gets hard the Potter can't work with it but if the clay will just stay moldable then the Potter can touch it can I tell you tonight he is the Potter and we are the clay the clay doesn't tell the Potter how to make it the Potter tells the clay how to make it Potter is the one that works so I want to minister to your wisdom tonight wisdom the first order of business wisdom would be please understand that you're frail you would be so wise to understand that you're weak you would be so wise to understand the fact that you're human you're immortal you'll be so wise you'll say well that doesn't sound very good will it if you can get connected to God the ants are a people they're small insignificant the answer of people's small and insignificant yet they prepare their meat in the summer in other words they're wise to see an opportunity they're wise instant of the matter you're small and what you don't need necessarily is growth as much as you do wisdom wisdom it's interesting in the first book of Kings chapter number three verse number First Kings chapter 3 and verse 3. Solomon comes to reign in his father's Kingdom Israel is a very large Kingdom at the time that Solomon comes to reign millions of people Solomon is now the king verse number three let's take a little journey with Solomon Solomon and Solomon loved the Lord walking in the statues of David his father only he sacrificed and burned incense in high places and the King went to gibeon to sacrifice there for that was the great high place a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer on that altar so Solomon knows how to worship he knows how to offer verse 5. in gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a Dream by night and God said ask what I shall give thee what Tyler what a request ass and I'll give it to you I mean that's God God says Solomon I'm so pleased with your sacrifices ask what you will Solomon and I'll give it thee Solomon said thou has showed unto thy servant David my father great Mercy according as he hath walked before thee in truth and in righteousness and in uprightness of heart with thee and thou has kept for him this great kindness that thou has given him a son to sit on his throne as it is this day Solomon said to God God you've been so good to my father David My Father David was righteous and my father David walked up before you and as a payment back to my father David is dead as a payment as a reward you have allowed his son to sit on the throne verse 7. and now O Lord my God thou Hast made thy servant King instead of David my father and I am but a little child I know not how to go out or to come in and thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou has chosen a great people that cannot be numbered nor counted from multitude now let's clear something Solomon was not a child he was probably in his mid-30s he was not a child but he called himself a child in light of the task of leading Israel in light of the task to becoming the king of Israel he looked out of this vast multitude of people that were without number and he said oh God I am but a little child I know not how to go out or come in I don't know how to operate as a king I don't I don't really know what I'm doing God I don't really know what I'm doing do you know that that pleased God that please God that a grown man wouldn't try to be macho he wouldn't let the crown go to his head pardon the pun he wouldn't allow the crown to go to his head he wouldn't you know walk around strutting his stuff like man I'm the man no it humbled him and he just said God I'm but a child and you know that when we want God's help if we would confess our weaknesses God is more apt to help us when we come in childlike faith and say God I want you to know I need strength today God my knees are buckling God I've stayed up God I need some help right now God you know God is more apt to help us with that attitude well let's continue we're going to stop verse 9. verse 9 he says give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people and that I may discern between good and bad for who is able to judge this thy so great a people and the speech pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this thing God I tell you what I need these people are going to come and they're going to have problems in their lives these people are going to come and there's going to have issues in their life and God I need wisdom I need wisdom God to be able to discern between good and bad I need wisdom God to be able to make decisions can I tell you tonight as individuals we need to ask God to give us wisdom to make decisions good decisions that affect our lives it is now the Bible says it is not in man to direct his past you do not have it in you to make the decisions that you need to make that's why you need to pray the Solomon prayer and say God I don't know what I'm doing in this world God I need your help Lord I need your help you need help and I I know the the the the youth brother Hammond's got the youth with him tonight but you parents tell your children this that are not married they need to pray for wisdom to choose a mate they don't need to choose a mate by hormones they need to choose a mate by wisdom you need to choose a mate by wisdom we are expecting mom and dad you know what you need to start doing now ask God to give you wisdom to raise that child we don't know how to raise kids they don't come with an owner's manual this is not your car you don't have an owner's manual when they come and there's never been a generation that is out for the minds of our kids our children if they make it into this Earth if they make it into this Earth then we've got a culture that wants to get a hold of them doesn't even want to give them a birth certificate that says boy or girl on it to be determined I want to stay on the Bible lesson tonight God we need wisdom to raise our children God we need wisdom to be able to raise he said God I've got a little child I don't know how to act I'm not a king I inherited this thing you gave me this thing listen listen to what Solomon says he says you gave me this thing because my daddy was living right you gave me this thing God because you blessed my daddy because my daddy was doing right and you gave me this thing God but that boy had enough sense to step out there and say God but I want you to know right now I'm just a child and God I don't know how to come in and I don't I don't know how to go out God God this is a great people there's going to be problems in this Kingdom there's going to be in situations that come let me let me see this don't ever pray God keep our marriage out of trouble you're praying a prayer it won't be answered that's not how you ought to pray because trouble is going to come to your marriage you need to ask God Lord help us to navigate there's not a listen there's not a trouble-free person there's not a trouble-free person they're a marriage there's not a trouble-free family and there sure isn't a trouble-free church but what do you do you say God we need your help God we need wisdom God lord we need we need wisdom to direct our past God we need wisdom in this marriage we need wisdom over these children God I I'm but a child God give me wisdom it's 10. and the speech please the Lord Solomon and ask this thing and God said unto him because thou has asked this thing and has not asked for thyself long life neither hath thou asked riches for thyself nor hast thou asked the life of thine enemies but has asked for thy self-understanding to discern judgment God says I'm going to give you what you didn't ask for you you didn't get selfish you didn't start asking for wealth you didn't start asking for the enemies to be defeated you asked for something that did not involve you directly you asked to have wisdom to lead and because you asked the right thing I'm going to give you what you didn't ask for church if we will start asking God to give us wisdom to direct Our Lives wisdom to direct our marriage wisdom to direct our family wisdom to to act and behave in church I'm here to tell you God's going to start opening up and giving you things you're going to have blessings walk through the front door of your house and you're going to say I didn't ask for that and God's going to say no you didn't but I gave you this because you asked for wisdom is the reason I gave you so wisdom it's a reason that I gave you this verse 12. behold I have done according to thy words lo I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart so that there was none like thee before neither after thee shall there any arise likened of Thee and I have also given thee that which thou Hast not asked both riches and honor so that there shall not be any among the Kings likened to thee all the days of thy life and oh yes by the way you inherited this thing you did and if thou will walk in my ways and keep my statues and Commandments as thy father David did walk then I will lengthen thy days you see he inherited something and then God said oh yes I did give you this Kingdom because your daddy lived right I did give you this Kingdom because your father was righteous but if you don't follow his footsteps I'll take it away from you I'll take it away from you the Bible said in Solomon awoke and behold it was a dream he came to he came to Jerusalem and stood before the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord and offered up burnt offerings and offered peace offerings and made a feast to all his sermons you see any time God blesses us it's time for worship it's time for worship do you know people that don't worship God are telling God I'm not thankful people do not praise God they're virtually saying to God I've come on this Wednesday night for a social Gathering I I've just come to socialize a little bit it's part of my it's part of my associates part of the just getting together you know when God has been good to us we need to give him praise we need to give I don't need to be sick to praise him I don't need to have a prayer to be answered to praise him I just need to praise him because he's good he's God and he deserves all the praise and all the glory let's keep on reading here God gave him wisdom let's see if God did verse 16. then came their two women that were harlots unto the king and stood before him and the one woman said oh my Lord I and this woman dwell in one house I was delivered of a child with her in the house came to pass the third day after that I was delivered that this woman was delivered also and we were together there was no stranger with us in the house saved we too in the house so here these two harlots both of them are pregnant one gives birth three days later the other the other give birth verse 20. or excuse me verse 19. and This Woman's child died in the night because she overlaid it she arose at midnight and took my son from beside me while thy handmaid slept and laid in her bosom and lay her dead child in my bosom and when I Rose in the morning to give my child suck behold it was dead and when I had considered it in the morning behold it was not my son which I didn't bear and the other woman said no nay but the living is my son and the dead is thy son and this and this said no but the dead is thy son and the living is my son thus they spake before the king now you talked about putting your wisdom to the test and this was back before the 1-800 who's your daddy DNA test I mean putting it to the test no that's my baby no this is my baby the dead babies no the living baby is my baby and they just bickered back and forth what in the world are you going to do Solomon what in the world are you going to do verse 23 then said the king let me get this straight the one saith this is my son that liveth and thy son is dead and the other saith nay but thy son is dead and my son is the living is that right that's right both were claiming the dead baby belonged to the other and the living baby was theirs then said the king excuse me verse 24. and the King said bring me a sword and they brought a sword before the king and the King said divide the living child in two give half to the one and half to the other now listen to this now now it's easy you think man I'd have thought of that you would have thought of that it's easy to do something after you've seen somebody else do it it's easy to do it you know he said bring me a sword hey folks would you not praise God with me God gave Solomon this wisdom he said bring me a sword they brought him so he said hold the baby up by Steve take the sword and divide the baby because both of them are claiming the living baby this is going to divide the baby right into give half to this one and half to the other verse 26 then spake the woman then spake the woman who's the living baby was unto the king for her bowels yearned upon her son and she said oh my Lord give her the living baby and in know why I slay it but the others said Let It Be neither mine nor thine but divided boy that's an easy one to figure out ain't it the real mother when they turn that little baby upside down and had this sort her bowels your earnings oh oh oh don't do anything oh please don't don't know don't do anything he said just go ahead now listen to this now listen to this she's actually saying it doesn't have to be mine it just has to be alive some people get so selfish that they'll say yeah just go ahead if I can't have it go ahead and divide it right down the middle just just go ahead if I can't have it but the real mother said it doesn't have to be mine I would love to cradle it I would love I I would love to raise it but you know what I'm not going to be so selfish that baby needs to live just go ahead and give her the living baby and the other one said sounds good to me kill it do you know sometimes when we're just wanting death it's a true sign we don't have wisdom a true sign sometimes wisdom says I don't need to be selfish sometimes wisdom says let me look beyond my feelings let me look Beyond let me look Beyond could a better day come to this relationship could I right now stomach a few can I stomach a few ups and downs could I could I stomach a few uncomfortable things could I could I be the bigger person and offer an olive branch could I be the bigger person and reach back out and try to rekindle that relationship or do I have to be the one to say just divide it I just divide it right down the middle it won't be mine and it won't be hers I don't know about you but that's wisdom and Solomon said Solomon said give that woman right there the living baby give that woman with tears streaming down her cheeks give that woman that that yearn and said don't touch that's the mama right there the one that cares about the life is the mother the one that doesn't care that's the one that got so lazy she overlaid her baby in the bed and she just does it she just doesn't want another to have that's the one church tonight we need to pray for wisdom we are weak small insignificant but we can make up for our weakness if we'll get some wisdom about us we can make up for that if we can get some if we can get some wisdom we can get some wisdom I got good news tonight I got good news for everybody read my lips it is the will of God for you to have wisdom you don't have to pray about it you just have to pray for it read my lips again it is the will of God for you to have wisdom matter of fact in the Book of James chapter 1 and verse number five James chapter 1 verse number five if any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God that giveth to all men liberally and afraid of not that means god when you ask God for wisdom he don't just squeeze you he ain't gonna listen God doesn't have a tube of wisdom like a tube of toothpaste he squeezed you he said If any man latch with lack wisdom let him ask of God that give it to all men I wish somebody shout that word that give it to all men that means freely he gives to all men liberally and upgrade if not that upgrade it means to push you away when you come into God's throne room and say God I'm but a child God I'm just an aunt God I'm just a feeble folk God I'm so small and insignificant and I'm unimportant on the world stage but God would you give me wisdom to raise my family would you give me wisdom to walk uprightly in this world would you give me that wisdom do you know what he does he says boys get the buckets out get the hoses out just spray them down with wisdom give them wisdom just just pour the wisdom out on them and you know what you'll begin to make decisions and you'll think that you'll have to be careful because you'll want to get the big head and slap yourself on the back break your arm patting yourself on the back you'll begin to make decisions and if you don't watch it you'll take the credit for it but it wasn't you dumb dumb that made that decision it was God that gave you the I'm sorry for saying that it was God it was God that gave you that wisdom you didn't you didn't have the brother Jeter years ago when we needed to build the gymnasium up on the hill we were getting bids from different Architects here in town and the beds were running around 30 000 to 37 000 for the blueprints and brother Jeter said let me let me take you down here to my architect we'll have a meeting with him and and we went and sat down with his architect and motherly we start talking start telling the man what we wanted and uh I said well how much would these plans be and he said well we're we're looking at we're looking at maybe we're looking at maybe thirty thousand dollars and so help me folks when he said it he said it in my spirit something began to turn he said that if you could give me five thousand dollars today he said I would do those plans for uh I do those plans for twenty five thousand dollars and it's like I had an out of Body Experience I said well what would 10 get me and he looked at brother Jeter and he said can he do this and brother you said yeah he can do that yeah he can I said what 10 get me he said if if you give me ten thousand dollars a day I can do them for twenty thousand I said what would 15 get me right but instead because you have not because you told me he said he drew the plans for one of these nipponenzo plants over here he said I got a lot of money tied up and all of that I got a lot of money tied up in it and he said their money hasn't come through yet and I'm needing to make payroll and I'm behind and he said if you give me fifteen thousand dollars he said today he said I'll do those set of plans for he said I'll do those set of plans for fifteen thousand dollars and finally when we left the office that day he said no don't write it all she just wrote me 7 500. and pay the rest when we're done now folks do not think you got the kid for a pastor man we got mail well our pastor's so smart he's so smart that's just the wisdom of God that was just God comes down in a moment and God just arranges things and God pushes things I didn't know I I didn't go in that office waiting to do that as as he just it was just kind of like God was telling me what to do he was telling me how to ask and we got the plans drawn up for that gym every other architect in town was 33 30 33 37 000 we got the set of blueprints for our gymnasium up there for fifteen thousand dollars I thank God for that wisdom I I thank God for that well since we're on the gym sister Davis I'll tell you this the architect called us up one day and he said we've run into a hiccup it's a pretty major hiccup he said he went down to the office and he said I've just discovered that you're going to have to you got to have a fire hydrant there uh to fight this fire and he said man it's really an issue I said you know just a little yellow plug sticking out of the ground can't be that bad he said well Reverend it's not just a little yellow plug sticking out of the ground you have to have so much inch water pipe and he said it's all the way up at 321 and you'd have to bore under the road and then you have to come down and bore under this road then you have to if you remember up on the hill the gym was all the way in the back and we're talking we're talking he kind of guesstimated around a hundred thousand dollars and that ain't a hiccup that's a hernia all right I mean that's and you know you're talking about a hundred thousand dollars we're trying to build this Gem of faith and we're gonna have to put a hundred thousand dollars that we don't have into a fire hide and just as I was walking out the door Gary best said well there was a church over in West Tennessee that I drew the plans matter of fact same architect mother Thorpe same architect drew the plans to Lake Benson all those buildings there those my face I saw I saw the UPC Camp around Tennessee on the board when I went in to talk to him about our gym he was drawing all that up anyway beside report let's get back on the sermon um and um he said I did a church over in West Tennessee and he said they their volunteer fire departments signed off that they could fight the fire with the tanker truck and said the state of Tennessee accepted it and my mind would determine my mind went to turn into a man by the name of Gerald Kirby no kin to the kirbys we have here Gerald Kirby when sister Carpenter was a little bitty baby Gerald and Linda Kirby would babysit sister when she's just a little little bitty baby Gerald and Linda would babysit her and so I grew up I mean I when I got married to her we would run into the kirbys in town Gerald and Lyndon and uh all this and and somehow or another it clicked in my mind Gerald Kirby is the captain or was it that time of the volunteer fire department here in Maryville and they gave me a piece of paper said if they will sign it they'll accept it and so guess where I made a beeline for Gerald Kirby's office and when I got out of the car I walked up to him the first thing you want to talk about was Sister Carpenter oh she was a pretty little baby I said oh she still is she's so beautiful oh oh me and Linda would go get her and we would all yeah she's just so cute I said Mr Kirby I said is there any way that that that you all would look at fighting the fire if we had a fire at the gym with your fire department so that I don't have to bring a a eight inch water pipe down the 321 and across William Blunt could could we do that could could could y'all can would you consider that he said you won't believe it we've got a banquet tonight with all the with with all the the membership of the volunteer fire department they'll all they'll all be there and he said I'll present this to them and uh I'll get you an answer in the morning can I tell you that I was like the king that throw Daniel in the Lion's Den I walked the floors that night I could have sung the song I'm walking the floor over you I I mean I was oh God please touch all those men God when they sit down God please touch all those men I was at Gerald Kirby's carpet place before it opened the next morning before he even got there and he pulled up and he got out he wanted to start talking about said Carpenter again and I was talking about her then I said Mr Kirby was you able to talk to him he said oh yeah and he recently got the piece of paper he said they all signed off on it last night we just bought a new tanker truck and we can fight that fire we also and the state of Tennessee signed off on it folks can you just give God praise for the wisdom of God just for the wisdom come on come on I know it sounds like listen God's no respecter of persons if you will ask God to give you wisdom there's things that will come to your mind how to work out your marriage situation if you will begin to ask God for wisdom there's things that will come to your mind right now you're up against a brick wall you're looking at situations in your life and you're thinking there is no way that I can make it through this have you taken it to God have you taken it to God and said God I'm a little child and I I want you to know God I'm a little nervous right now God I want you to know I can't do this on my own God I would you begin to help me I promise you he will begin to pour you out wisdom and he will not upraise you he will pour you out can you say Amen he'll pour you out wisdom do you know a lot of wisdom that he can give us is not on how to get out of situations I really want you to hear this tonight a lot of wisdom wisdom is not just to get you out of situations you need to ask God to give you wisdom to keep you from going in situations how about preventive wisdom just you know putting some things out there preventive in other words they're going to keep me from needing to get out of situations here's a neat one Deuteronomy chapter 22. Deuteronomy chapter 22 and verse number 8. I'm talking about wisdom tonight Deuteronomy 22 and verse number 8. when thou buildest a new house then Thou shalt make a Battlement for thy roof that thou bring not blood upon thine house If any man fall from then just leave that verse there he said you're going to build a house now houses in the Bible days were not like houses today that we have houses in the Bible days you did two things in the living quarters slept and eat really slept and prepare a meal that's all you did in that little cramped up space your fellowship you had stairs and you went up on the roof of the house it's on the roof of the house you raised your children it's on the roof of the house that you invited company over it was on the roof that you had Fellowship and you know that in Deuteronomy 22 and 8 God said when you build a house use some wisdom and put a railing put a railing around the house on the roof put a railing put a railing up have a border put a railing up so that you don't bring blood upon your family put a railing up so that you don't invite someone over put a railing up so that you're not standing up there and your child tumbles off to the street below she just used some wisdom and put some railings up that you don't bring blood upon your family put some ratings up can I tell you that we should use some wisdom when we build our houses I'm talking about our natural house building codes take care of that I'm talking about our spiritual house you've got to use some wisdom you got to do some wisdom as a as a man I use wisdom I have never taken a woman from this church out to lunch without my wife you've got to use wisdom include your spouse in your text messaging maybe seated use wisdom don't let conversations get emotional use wisdom and don't confide in the opposite sex about issues that you're having in your own marriage is wisdom is wisdom when you sit down on a plane and the woman beside you says oh you're cologne is out of this world thank you my wife loves it and the conversation most of the time come on it's just wisdom it's just wisdom wisdom is treat your spouse the way you want her to treat you build a Battlement on your house build a limit build a limit on your house build a railing on your house build a railing around your children having cell phones build a railing over who your children choose for friends oh I'm not going to get involved in that really really you're not going to get involved knowing that your friends determine your future do you know your children's friends we should why it's wisdom it's wisdom to know them it's wisdom to have barriers in in your life it's it's just wisdom it's just wisdom would you just love God with me for a moment would you just lift up your hands and love God I I know I've really put the plow
