Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Number the sabbaths: the jubilee proclaimed

  • The lesson closes his teaching on the Sabbaths: the Sabbath day was for reflecting, the Sabbath year for resetting, but the fiftieth year is different — it is named Jubilee, a word that itself means the sound of the trumpet.
  • The text is read in full: seven sabbaths of years numbered, the trumpet of the jubilee sounded on the Day of Atonement, liberty proclaimed throughout the land, every man returned to his possession and his family, and the land kept holy and unsown.
  • There can be no jubilee without a Day of Atonement first: the trumpet's first sound calls for repentance, soul-searching and open confession, because a right relationship with God determines how a man treats other people.

Scriptures: Leviticus 25:8-19

Repentance, then release

  • Returning to the verse, the teacher presses its command: hallow the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants — in the year of jubilee every man returns to his own possession.
  • Under the law a debtor who could not pay served the one he owed; in the jubilee year he had to be released — no one could be held — sent back to his possession and his family.
  • Deuteronomy calls the seven-year release 'the LORD's release': every creditor shall release what he has lent his neighbour and shall not exact it of his brother.
  • So the jubilee's joy is forgiveness practised: people once held as servants are released as brothers, and there is no greater joy than watching forgiveness at its best among God's people.

Scriptures: Leviticus 25:10; Deuteronomy 15:1-2

Rest: the land keeps the jubilee

  • Verses 11 and 12 are read again at the head of the rest movement: in the jubilee year they were neither to sow nor reap what grew of itself, but to eat the increase of the field — after repentance and release comes rest.
  • Rest is an act of faith: two years without planting raises the question 'what shall we eat?', and the answer is confidence that a God who commands a thing will not fail his people in it.
  • The teacher applies it to a church living through a pandemic and an election: his world does not depend on any address in Washington; he is resting in the word of God, quiet because he is confident God will triumph.

Scriptures: Leviticus 25:11-12

Confidence in the promises

  • Isaiah's word fixes the posture: 'in returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength' — the church's strength is its quietness, because its confidence is in God.
  • Hebrews warns against casting away that confidence, which has great recompense of reward: confidence untested by a storm is not yet confidence, and the enemy's work in a hard season is to make believers throw theirs away.
  • Confidence governs prayer: 'this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us' — and the prayers God surely hears are prayers for the lost to be saved.
  • All the promises of God in Christ are yea and amen; Samuel grew and the Lord let none of his words fall to the ground, and Solomon could bless the Lord that there had not failed one word of all his good promise — not one promise of God has ever fallen to the ground.

Scriptures: Isaiah 30:15; Hebrews 10:35; 1 John 5:14; 2 Corinthians 1:20; 1 Samuel 3:19; 1 Kings 8:56

Jesus is our jubilee

  • Acts states the jubilee pattern for the church: repent and be converted, that sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord — refreshing is what jubilee is.
  • Isaiah described the jubilee — the Spirit of the Lord upon the anointed to preach good tidings to the meek — and in the Nazareth synagogue Jesus took the book, read the passage, and stopped at the comma: 'to preach the acceptable year of the Lord,' leaving the day of vengeance for another day.
  • 'This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears': Jesus is the jubilee — our repentance, our release, our rest and our confidence; this is the day of mercy and acceptance, but the savior of the drowning boy is also the Judge of the courtroom, and the day will come when the period becomes a comma.
  • The lesson closes in prayer at an open altar: he asks that no one be lost, that the Holy Spirit walk the aisles and stop at every pew, and he prays for a brother in the congregation to receive the Holy Ghost God has promised him.

this evening and thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee seven times seven years and the space of the seventh and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month in the day of atonement shall you make the trumpet sound throughout all your land and ye shall hallow the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all of the inhabitants thereof it shall be a jubilee unto you and ye shall return every man unto his possession and ye shall return every man unto his family a jubilee shall that fiftieth year be unto you you shall not sow nor reap neither reap that which groweth of itself in it nor gather the graves in it of thy vine unrest for it is the jubilee it shall be holy unto you ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field in the year of this jubilee ye shall return every man unto his possession and if thou sell ought unto thy neighbor or biased ought of thy neighbor's hand ye shall not oppress one another according to the number of years after the jubilee thou shalt buy of thy neighbor and according unto the number of the years of the fruits he shall sell unto thee according to the multitude of years thou shalt increase the price thereof according to the fewness of years thou shalt diminish the price thereof for according to the number of years of the fruits doth he sell unto thee ye shall not therefore oppress one another but thou shalt fear thy god for i am the lord your god wherefore ye shall do my statues and keep my judgments and do them and you shall dwell in the land safely and the land shall yield her fruit and ye shall eat your field and dwell therein safe in safety father i ask you tonight to touch my heart my mind god i want to feed your people tonight lord i want us to walk out of here in a few moments with a greater awareness jesus of who you are lord i ask god tonight that you would anoint my lips of clay that i may speak the eternal word of god that it would cause our lives god to bring forth fruit lord jesus we love you and we praise you in advance for what you will do tonight through your word in jesus name we pray if you would be so kind to give a great hand of praise right now to the lord god you're so good come on let's give him a great hand to praise right now god you're so good to us tonight god you may be seated thank you all for coming out tonight the house of the lord these sabbaths that my mind has been focused upon there is one day that is a sabbath day every week that the word reflect could be used it's a day that they would reflect back on what god had done and then every seven years every six years they had one entire year that was a sabbath year wasn't a sabbath day 24 hours it was a sabbath year and the entire year they re the land rested and it was a sabbath year for the land the sabbath year was not a year of reflecting it was a year that they would reset their lives it was a year that the ground rested it was a year that the word reset would best describe the sabbath year the sabbath day the word reflect best describes that the sabbath year the reset button they they were able kind of to reset their priorities they were able to kind of reset their lives but then the bible tells us that there was another sabbath that they were to number they were to number the sabbath years and when they would reach seven of the sabbath years which would be 49 years that the 50th year was to become a sabbath year but not just any year this would be different than the sabbath year it would be given the name it would be given the name of jubilee it would be called the jubilee now i don't know if any of you were keeping track tonight but evidently god was wanting them to know that the 50th year was a jubilee i mean that was repeatedly said it is the year of the jubilee it is the year of jubilee and they would the year of jubilee was different than the sabbath year or the time in atonement the atonement came once a year once a year on the 10th day of the seventh month they sounded with the trumpet and brother nolan if you could bring the uh trumpet tonight or the shofar tonight and um he says that he can he can blow this shofar he says he can he can do this so they would have this on the tenth day on the tenth day and the seventh month the tenth day and the seventh month all israel would hear the best you got all right all right leave it up here now come on give him a hand i guess since he's got married he's lost a little bit of his pucker power there you know but it had an unusual sound made from a rams horn it had an unusual sound the priest that knew how to blow this and their ear was tuned to this when the priests began to blow the shofar on the tenth day of the seventh month they knew that it was time for atonement well the sound of the trumpet meant it was a time that triggered a season of repentance a time that triggered a season of soul-searching a time of repentance a time of fasting a time of afflicting your flesh was a time that you offered up an animal that was referred to as the sacrifice of atonement of atonement that word atonement if you break it down at one minute because what separated god from man was a thing called sin and during this time of repentance when the trumpet when the sho shofar blew the people knew that it was time to repent was time to afflict themselves it was time for fasting and prayer and soul-searching and then it was time to bring the sacrifice that would be the atonement the word atonement just simply means to cover it just simply means that their sins their repented sins had been covered by the sacrifice this happened every year they had the day of atonement i personally believe that much like israel today the church must must have seasons of repentance we must have seasons in our lives that we search our souls we must have seasons in our life that we put pleasure aside must have seasons in our lives where we ask god to search us and god you know our hearts and we do all understand something tonight we don't know our hearts god knows our hearts that's why we need to ask god to search our hearts and we read some of the psalms created me o god a clean heart and renew within me god the right spirit we know the other psalms that were prayed let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable unto thee oh god and so it was a time of it was a time of searching it was a time of getting yourself right with god you remember the old song it's not my brother it's not my sister but it's me oh god standing in the need of prayer sometimes our flesh can can trick us into highlighting the flaws of others around us and causing us not to see our own flaws we look at others flaws we look at our brother's flaws with a microscope and we look at our own flaws with a telescope and uh we we don't watch it we can our flesh will get our minds on others but not the day of atonement you got your mind on yourself you got your mind on your own family on that day it was a time of repentance a time of afflicting your soul but on that seventh sabbath on that 49th year on that particular day of atonement not only did the day start with the with the priest sounding the alarm and you do realize as we study the scripture that it was only the priest's responsibility to sound the trumpet it was your responsibility to hear and act the bible specifically says if the watchman on the wall sees danger and sounds the trumpet if those down below do not heed the sound of the trumpet then their blood is on their own heads for the watchman has done his job but said if the watchmen see danger coming and warn not the people then the blood of the people will be the blood of the people will be upon the watchmen and so that sound was something that you had to tune your ear to the israelites were very familiar with the sounds of the trumpet because there were other times that they were a call to assemble using silver trumpets but this sound from the shofar was that sound that said it's time to search your souls but on that day of jubilee there was a second sounding of the shofar the second sounding of the shofar it begin to trigger that this is the year this is the year of jubilee can i tell you the the word jubilee means the sound of the trumpet now we have went ahead through bible studies and understand that jubilee is a good thing and you'll see why it's a good thing in a moment jubilee is something wonderful jubilee was something exciting but we can never have a jubilee without a day of atonement we can have we never can have joy as long as there's unconfessed sin in our lives we can never enter into the second sound of the trumpet as long as we have not thoroughly repented and identified our faults and confessed openly confessed openly our faults to god to have an open to have an open confession of our sins to have an open confession of sins no joy until that happens but after that would happen after that would happen the bible says that the next step after there was repentance because our relationship with god determines how we treat other people how we stand with god determines how we see and how we treat other people how we see and how we treat other people so i want to make sure tonight as we're entering into our 41st day that i have searched my soul that i have confessed my sins that i have asked god to help me now if you're trying to wonder out what i'm confessing then you've already failed the test because once again you've got your mind off of yourself and on someone else you've got your mind on someone else so tonight and i promise you i promise you okay i can tell you how long you need to keep your mind on yourself no one will ever be complete that they can get it that they can take their mind off themselves and get it on others until the rapture that's when god's finished working on you is during the rapture so god i ask you tonight i ask you tonight god i ask you to help me i ask you can we just lift our hands right now just have a moment have a moment of repentance right now can we just lift our hands come on let's have a moment of repentance just lift up your hands let's lift up our voices just a little bit more let's lift up our voice it's a time we're not playing tonight it's not a nominal this is not something that we just here to play church tonight god is taking this church to a new level he's taking this place to a new level god in the name of the lord jesus christ tonight god touch lord i know god how the enemy tries every distraction in the world oh god i lay my life out before you tonight lord i ask you god to touch there's no way brother dean that i can see to treat my brother right until i have repentance in my own life until i have repentance in my own life but when i receive repentance then i go to chapter 25 and verse number 10 and it says and you shall hallow the 50th year and proclaim liberty throughout all the land and to all the inhabitants thereof it shall be a jubilee unto you and you shall return every man unto his possession and ye shall return every man into his family verse 13 and in the year of jubilee you shall return every man unto his possession now this is release because it was only during the year of jubilee that if someone had gotten if someone had gotten indebted and they had found themselves because in that day unlike this day when people got in debt they had to pay their debt or they had to go into a debtor's prison or they had to serve the one they were indebted to but in the year of jubilee in that 50th year of jubilee you released every man when that year came you released them you had to send them back to their possession you had to release them you could not hold anyone during the year of jubilee you had to release them as a matter of fact deuteronomy chapter 15 verses 1 and 2 says it very plainly at the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release and this is the manner of the release every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbors shall release it he shall not exact it of his neighbor or of his brother because it is called look at that what's it called it's called the lord's release now the jubilee the jubilee has the jubilee has a spiritual significance to the new testament church of which we are and that is that of repentance and that is that of releasing people that of not holding anyone as a servant it is as we repent that we're able to release people we're able to release those that may have brought us hurt we're able to release them they're no longer servants but they're my brother and they need to be released to go back to their possession i don't know about you but now i begin to see the joy of jubilee can you imagine men and women that were servants men and women that hadn't been at home in a long time can you imagine that it was on this year that they had to go in and say it's jubilee you you get to go back it's jubilee i i i i i release you it's jubilee can i tell you there's no greater joy in your heart and in your pastor's heart than to witness forgiveness at its best oh when forgiveness comes among god's people there's a joy that's indescribable when forgiveness comes among god's people and people have have gotten at odds with each other and and somebody was wrong and all of this but to watch a trumpet sound and to have our own spiritual jubilee people that once held others as servants but now release them and they let them go it is the year of release it is the year of repentance and after there was a release after there was a repentance and after there was a release verses 11 and 12 of leviticus 25 11 and 12 says a jubilee that shall that fiftieth year be unto you ye shall not sow neither reap that which growth of itself in it nor they gather the grapes in it of thy vine undress for it is the jubilee it shall be holy unto you ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field let's look at this tonight when the trumpet sounded it was time for repentance so searching and after repentance you looked at your brother or your sister and you released them there was no holding anyone after you released them and after you released them you entered into another thing called rest because he said during the jubilee the 50th year you're to do no work you're to plant no seed you're to trim no vines you're to do no work you are to enter into a time of rest a time of rest but wait a minute god wait a minute god um you must understand that if we have to let the land rest on the 50th year and that this is the year of the sabbath rest then as i studied today i found out that they may have a little bit of issue with their faith because they understand that that we are now going to be without planting for two years what shall we eat and it's here after repentance after release that we need to really exercise our rest in god we need to rest that if god gave us a commandment if god told us to do something he will not fail us and it will not fail god we have to learn and exercise faith to rest in the promises of god there's a lot of people that are in a great up evil right now about the pandemic and about the election and oh what are we going to do i'll go ahead and tell you what your pastor's doing not going to do but doing i'm resting in god's word i'm resting because god is bigger than cobit god is bigger than kobe oh wait a minute brother carpenter but we've had people from our church die from covet it's not the end of the world right now in that i i i've wept i'm concerned but by faith i rest in this they knew jesus we live to die we don't live to consume we live for that day that we draw our last breath so if we believe what we say we believe and we do when they drew their last breath they got into the they got into the place of jesus welcome welcome them home so it's not the end of the world it's only the end of the world if you're not a believer and i'm not being insensitive tonight it's the end of the world if you're not a believer for if in this life only we have hope we are of all men most miserable but we've got a hope in another land so when they die to the child of god when they die that is their reward day so instead of having a mindset that oh we lost people during covet could we get the mindset we had some graduations during covet we had some graduations that took place during covet i rest in the word of god my faith rests in the word of god and i don't care hear me tonight my world doesn't depend upon the man or the woman at 1600 pennsylvania avenue in washington washington uh d.c my life depends upon the god of the jubilee my god depend my life depends upon the god of the jubilee my faith rests in god i'm go listen if you're here tonight and you're single and you're wanting to be married don't fret put your faith in god he'll bring the right person into your life don't fret put yourself in the in the in the place of god rest he said i want you to have this day of rest have faith in god have confidence in god again tonight god is bigger than covent i don't even know if it insults god that we even bring covet into the same uh arena with god covet is nothing to god covet is absolutely nothing to god elections are absolutely nothing to god as a matter of fact he told pharaoh he said i raised you up it wasn't that you were born to the right family i raised you up i made you mighty i prospered egypt i called for egypt to become the most popular uh the most populous uh city in the all the world and you know why i did that pharaoh i raised you up so i could knock you down i raised you up so i could display my mighty power on the backdrop that i raised you up so tonight where am i at in the election where am i at in the pandemic i'll tell you where i'm at i am resting in the word of god i'm resting in the word of god i've got a trumpet it may not listen the world may not be tuned to this trumpet but i'm tuned to it for isaiah chapter 30 and verse number 15 says this for thus saith the lord god the holy one of israel in returning and rest shall shall ye be saved in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength and ye would not you know what our you know what our strength is our quietness we're not going to get all frazzled we're not going to get all bent out of shape we're not going to wring our hands and wonder what in the world's going on and we're going to no no no our confidence is in god and our quietness is in god you ask me oh i don't think you care about what we're going through no it's not that i care it's not that i don't care i'm just quiet about what we're going through why are you quiet because i'm confident that at the end of the day god not might not maybe god will triumph because it's the year of jubilee i have had my repentance and i have released everybody from my life and now it's time for me simply to rest it's time for me to rest he is my confidence everybody say confidence hebrews chapter 10 and verse number 35 paul said to the hebrew to in the book of hebrews he said cast not away therefore your confidence which have great recompense of reward you know what the enemy does during the pandemic wants to throw away our confidence i i've been putting all my faith in god i've been i've been asking god i i could see god i could i could understand god if nobody in our church had got it i could i could understand that god is god but but now when people get covet and all of this and and and and and all that happens and i'm i'm not please understand i i i know some of you that have gotten coveted and have recovered from covet and i know that it's horrible and all of that and i i can i i can i can relate i've had the flu before i can relate to all that i understand i understand how all that works but can i tell you in the midst of all that we cannot throw away our confidence we cannot cast away our confidence well is this how god has treated me is this how god treats is this how god treats brother stevens the man gives his life for the church the man retires early takes a takes early retirement so he can wire the church up for the road and and brother stevens does this and brother is this how god treats us that's the if you view it that way it's because you've cast away your confidence you have thrown away your confidence and it's not competence if you don't hold on to it during the storm it's really not confident you've really not tried it it's not been tried unless you got it out in the storm unless you got it out in the storm but in the midst of the storm for god's sake don't throw away your confidence stand firm in the midst of the storm stand firm in the mid because it will give you a great recompense of reward first john chapter 5 verse 14 first john first john chapter 5 verse number 14. and this is the confidence that we have in him that if we ask anything according to his will he heareth us that's why tonight people get discouraged with prayer is because they don't really say those words god if it be your will god if it be your will but we know that if it is his will that god hears us and i tell you a lot of things god will hear you pray for the lost to be saved now i don't know if it's god's will to give you that five more dollars on the hour raise because you're really not doing good of what god's given you right now all right so i don't know if it's really god's will for this business deal to go through and that business deal to go through because god's looking at how you're handling what you've got but get down on your knees and start asking god to save your neighbor i promise you god hears that prayer walk through the neighborhood like my wife and i do and wave our hand put our hand up at houses when we go by people that don't know the lord and ask god let a spirit of revelation come into that home there god open up a door somehow some way that we can witness to these people right here and i promise you god's already showed god we we went by a house and we asked god to open up some doors and uh the other day they were out taking a walk and i stepped outside and they started the conversation off they started the conversation often and they said you know it's a bad time i said i know it is but they said you know brother we need to have faith in god boy that was an open door right there you better believe we have faith in god i invited him to the house of god you want a prayer that god will answer ask god to save souls ask god to let you find somebody that's lost ask god to let you meet somebody that's lost i promise you you'll sit right beside them in a doctor's office i promise you you'll sit right across the table at a restaurant with them because that's a prayer that god hears well i asked god to do this i asked god to make that man fall in love with me and he didn't do it thank god for prayers he didn't answer because people give up on prayers because they pray them and then answer them and they don't they don't take into consideration was it god's will was it god's will second second corinthians chapter 1 verse number 20. ii corinthians chapter 1 verse number 20. for all the promises of god in him are ye and in him amen unto the glory of god by us for all of the promises of god in him are yea and in him amen brother ding you reading that for all the promises of god so i'm not one bit i'm not one bit fretting that you're that you don't have the holy ghost you're going to receive the holy ghost dean you hear me you're going to receive the holy ghost why brother carpenter do you do do you what do you see something in me no i don't see something in you necessarily i do see a hungry man but i see a god that has never failed us and i didn't promise you the holy ghost brother dean god promised you the holy ghost so hunger on brother pray on brother worship on brother because i i misca i am as convinced of this as i'm standing god will fill you with the holy ghost because that is his promise some of you going through trials and some of you going through tests i am confident that you're going to make it through so how do you know that not because of what i see in you that's what i see in god's word i will never leave you nor ever forsake you i am with you alway even to the end come on praise him with me right now first samuel 3 19 and samuel grew and the word of the lord and the lord was with him and did let none of his words fall to the ground first kings 8 56 blessed be the lord that hath given rest unto his people israel according to all that he promised there hath not failed one word of all his good promise which he promised by the hand of moses his servant and god is no respecter of persons and if solomon can declare that god has answered every promise that he gave to moses i can stand here tonight in december of 2020 and tell you not one promise of god has ever fallen to the ground every promise that you can make it is just as real tonight as it was when it flowed from heaven can you say amen i rest in his promise i rest in his promise said brother carpenter how in the world can a church go through a 10-year building program and stay together i'll tell you how we can god gave us a rhema word now a rhema word is a current word it will not contradict the bible it is a it is a fresh word of direction that morning in that dark auditorium up the road when i held in my hand the plans to raise a million dollars in five years that would have been a task to do and god spoke to me and said brother white my son my coming is soon i want you to tell my people to begin to give to missions as never before and i will take care of the new sanctuary it didn't make any sense a building that was approved to seat 250 people sometimes putting 500 people on those grounds and sometimes 600 didn't make any sense made more sense that we needed to give to build not give to the missionaries but as we begin to give and i want to remind those of you that may have forgotten and i want to inform some of you that wasn't with us but when we started giving to missions without the aid of an evangelist without going into evangelistic services brother french god sent this church a harvest of souls and in six weeks time we baptized over 60 people in the name of jesus christ without a planned revival getting the holy ghost before that sometimes could have been a difficult thing but we witnessed people coming and getting the holy ghost acts chapter 10 style i never forget one night a denominal pastor and his wife was with us on a sunday night and they passed a nominal church here in the town and we had one of those what we had sunday night services brother patterson and i was wondering what that nominal pastor and his wife were thinking about it they got out before i could shake their hand but i ran into the pastor the next day at walmart and i said hey i said it was so good to have you all last night i hope you all enjoy the service they said enjoyed it said my wife received her prayer tongue last night i said describe that what what do you mean say well she got our prayer language last night so what do you mean she spoke in a language that she didn't know and i said has she ever had that prayer tongue before he said never had it before well he can call it a prayer tongue if he wants to you know what happened to the woman don't you god well i got chill bumps right now god baptized her with the holy ghost and then didn't the miracles start coming in we paid for the property here we paid for the property we got it all paid for didn't have anything in the church he didn't have anything in the account when we went to the when brother stevens and brother claiborne myself went to the title company and got the deed on the property we didn't have any money left in the bank but with just in a few weeks money started coming back in until that some time later we had about a million dollars i don't know where it came from we had about a million dollars and we ordered the steel and we put the shell up and then when it came time to put the concrete down the money would come in and when it came time to build the walls the money would come in and when it came time for this and that until i don't know how we got here but we got here and here we are you know why we're here because not one word of the good promise of god has ever fallen to the ground i marched around this church there were times there were times when my faith got thin and yours did too but i would have prayer walks around this church before there was any asphalt before there was any sidewalks before there was any shrubbery before there were any windows i made trips around here and i'd talk to this building and i'd say building we're going to inhabit you one day building you're going to be done one day because god god told us you think i'm going to let a pandemic mess with my jubilee you think i'm going to let a pandemic i'll tell you something else without divulging any any any of the business i'm gonna i'm gonna tread lightly through this story brother randy newcomer but it's just a newcomer but we put the brick on this building and we're that big arch goes that's called a that's called a a wall curtain a glass curtain is what that's called and at the time when the when the when the brick went up we put fresh osb board in there and oh it looks so pretty oh it looks so pretty the brick was around it the ol the osb board we didn't have money we didn't have the 40 something thousand dollars to get that big glass window in the front we didn't have forty thousand dollars today it was just the osb board that was up there and over time that beautiful tanned osb board turned black with rot and it's so ugly i was in the auditorium one day praying and this came to my mind joshua spoke to the son and god heard him and i got to thank god you're no respecter of persons god if you if you listen to joshua when you stop the sun god i ask you right now to send somebody to buy that window god sends somebody to buy that window right now god in jesus name i don't think it was 15 minutes i don't think it's a few minutes went by those of you that's ever been up the old church you know you step out of the altar right into the fellowship hall and when i stepped out into the fellowship hall there stood brother randy a newcomer and he said oh pastor he said i he said i'm here i think he's working on somebody's car but he said i'm needing to see you for a minute and i said okay we stepped outside and and he talked about a settlement that he had i didn't even know he had a settlement he had an injury and there was a settlement that he had i knew i knew absolutely nothing about it i knew absolutely nothing about his settlement didn't know he had anything going on he said yeah he said i've been to the attorney's office and he said the check is already there and he told me the amount and he said but brother carpenter he said how much would it cost to put that window in down at the church i said i i i believe it's about 40 something thousand dollars i mean when you get when you get in the 40s you know what's changed you know it's 40 something you know and i told him he said would you go ahead and order that and he said i'll go ahead and write the check for that and i'm standing there and i'm thinking is this real is this even real flannery is this even is this even real is this even real and so i said well that that's great thank you thank you i i appreciate you thank you brother randy and and he walked off to go get the checkbook he walked off to to go get it done and i got in the car and i sat down and i just started stomping the floorboard like this right here thank you jesus thank you god thank you god thank you god thank you god and the next thing i did after i thanked god was call sister carpenter and say you won't believe what just happened can i tell you all along the journey god has showed us that his word we're in the jubilee i've done repented i've done released everybody now i'm in the rest i'm in the rest of god's word come on would you go with me tonight i'm in the rest of god oh we should praise him with me right now i wish you'd just rest in the scripture if god told you he was going to heal you i wish you'd just believe it tonight what it's been it's been some time for the carpenter it's been some time since god gave me that promise you see it god makes you a promise it doesn't matter if years go by if god told you he's going to do such and so god is going to do it would you believe me tonight oh thank you lord would you stand with me tonight the year of jubilee the year of jubilee restored broken families the year of jubilee your lost blessings will return in the year of jubilee everybody got to go back to owning their original plot of ground they had when joshua divided it in the year of jubilee every generation got to know what it looked like as an original can you imagine a man that worked can you imagine a man that got himself in debt and had to sell off his heritage but when the year of jubilee come he got his son he took his son back to that piece of land he said this is what it looked like when we started this is where we lived we lived right here this is what joshua gave to your great great great great grandfather this is what's been passed down to us can i tell you it's my burden it's my desire to have a jubilee always at this church to take a generation back and say this is where we started this is where we depended on the power of god the word of god the move of god the jubilee the jubilee what it must have been like for that man to be released for that man to go back to his wife for that family to be put back together for them to have their piece of property again that they could plant they could sow the jubilee year gave them the chance to have a new beginning the year of jubilee in acts chapter 3 verse 19. the writer tried his best to describe the year of jubilee he said it this way in acts 3 and verse 19. repent ye therefore what did the jubilee start with repentance repent ye therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the lord refreshing the jubilee is refreshing oh it refreshes you the prophet isaiah said the spirit of the lord is upon me he describes the jubilee in isaiah 61 1-4 he describes the jubilee spirit of the lord god is upon me because the lord hath anointed me to preach the good tidings into the meek he describes it but in mark luke 4 and 16 jesus is our jubilee jesus is our jubilee he came to nazareth where he had been brought up as his custom was he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day and stood up for to read that was delivered unto him the book of the prophet isaiah when he had opened the book and he had found the place where it was written jesus said the spirit of the lord is upon me because he have anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted to preach deliverance to the captives and the recovering of the sight to the blind to set at liberty them that are bruised to preach the acceptable year of the lord and he closed the book and he gave it to the minister and he sat down and the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on on him and he began to say unto them this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears i am your jubilee i am your repentance there's no repentance outside of jesus i am the one that can help you release people i am your rest and i am your confidence there's one thing he left out when isaiah said it isaiah said to preach the acceptable year of the lord comma and the day of vengeance of god jesus did not add jesus at the comma put a period because this is not a day for judgment it's a day for mercy we are living in the day of mercy and if you're not in the ark get on the ark if you're not sold out to god tonight get sold out to god it's not a day to be it's not a day to be in and out up and down it's a day to be sold out this is the day of the lord this is the acceptable year of the lord he's accepting people to come to him but there'll come a day when the period will be a comma and the day of vengeance of god and i can just describe it to you this way a young boy went for a swim in the lake he got too far out in the lake and he began to drown a man was on his way home from work passed by the lake just so happened to see the boy frailing in the water the man stopped the car and ran as hard as he could swam as fast as he could he saved the young man the young man would have died had it not been for that man saving him a few years later brother knuckles that young boy got in trouble with the law found himself incarcerated they told him that morning as he came down and unlocked his cell that he was standing before the judge to be sentenced a little nervous he was until he walked in the side door of the courtroom and behind the podium was the judge but the judge his face looked familiar that's the man that saved me that's the man that saved me surely i'm going to get a light sentence today he he's the one that saved me he dropped the gavel and gave the boy x amount of years in prison much to the young boy's surprise he objected he said your honor don't you remember me i'm the young man you saved you're gonna send me to prison he said young man you've got to understand one thing that afternoon i was your savior today i'm your judge this evening he's accepting everything that'll come to him but there's coming a day where the lamb turns into the lion and he sets up heaven's court and our behavior tonight follows us right into that courtroom how we responded to god in our lives followed us the bible says as a tree falleth there shall it lay oh god i hope we all have a jubilee would you just pray with me for a moment
