Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
A preacher's burden for an unpopular message
- He testifies that he was born again at 16 years old, answered the call to preach shortly after his conversion, and will turn 53 on June the 10th of this year.
- The message fell on his mind as an unpopular one, but it is reality: there really is a place called hell.
- He takes preaching seriously because it has to do with the souls of men and women, and he will declare the full counsel of God's word.
Everyone will exist eternally somewhere
- From Daniel: at that time Michael shall stand up, there shall be a time of trouble such as never was, and many that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
- Jesus said the unrighteous shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into life eternal.
- All that are in the graves shall hear his voice and come forth: those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of damnation.
Scriptures: Daniel 12:1-3; Matthew 25:46; John 5:28-29
No decision place after death
- It is appointed unto men once to die, and after this the judgment; there is no second chance and no place to decide after the last breath.
- This life is the only place to determine where eternity will be spent, which makes him want to line up with God's word regardless of what culture says.
- A funeral director's observation: after 50 years of funeral sermons, no one had ever gone to hell from his chapel — but a eulogy cannot determine a destiny; the response to the word of God does.
Scriptures: Hebrews 9:27
Believing that continues
- God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
- Believing is not a momentary mental assent or a repeated prayer followed by a sinful way of living; the word carries continuing trust and reliance on him.
- He that believes on the Son has everlasting life, and he that believes not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.
- Jesus is the only exit door out of this world and into heaven.
Scriptures: John 3:16; John 3:36
Hell was prepared for the devil, not for humans
- His words to those on the left: depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
- From Revelation: the fearful, the unbelieving, the abominable, murderers, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
- The fearful and unbelieving are aimed at the church, not the world: when preaching loses its place, fearfulness, unbelief, and abominations grow among people nestled in the church.
- The greatest sin of all is to reject Jesus Christ.
Scriptures: Matthew 25:41; Revelation 21:8
God does not send you; your behavior decides
- To the question of how a loving God can send anyone to hell, he answers: God doesn't; you do — as with the police officers named in his own congregation, arrest or protection hinges on the hearer's behavior, not the officer.
- The burden of the message is now in the hearer's lap: turn toward the back door and go on your way, or come running to the altar and say, save me this morning.
- He closes by asking the whole house to stand with him.

we love God I was 16 years old when I was born again shortly after my conversion I answered the call to preach God laid his hand upon me and I answered the call to preach if the good Lord allows me to see June the 10th of this year I will turn 53 years old I have been preaching the gospel and I take it very seriously because it has to do with the souls of men and women I have always tried to remain sensitive and tender to how the Lord would direct my faults to you this message fell upon my mind the other day it is an unpopular message but it is reality there really is a place called hell there really is a place called hell in the book of Daniel chapter 12 and verse number 1 Daniel says at that time shall Michael stand up the Great Prince which standeth for the children of thy people and there shall be a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time and at that time thy people shall be delivered every one that shall be found written in the book and many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting contempt and be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever everyone will exist eternally either in a place called heaven or a place called hell we are all going to live forever and it will either be in a place called heaven or it will be in a place called hell and Matthew 25 and verse number 46 jesus said and these shall go away into everlasting punishment but the righteous into life eternal you're going to spend eternity in one of these two places you're either going to spend eternity in heaven or you will spend it in Hell John 5 and 28 Jesus said Marvel not at this for the hour is coming in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice and shall come forth they that have done good unto the resurrection of life and they that have done evil unto the resurrection of damnation I will be less than a man of God today not to declare unto you the full counsel of Almighty God's Word everyone has only one life in which to determine their destiny you only have this life to determine where you're going to spend eternity only this life what we're doing now is the only place that you have to make that decision there is not a decision place after death for the Bible says in Hebrews 9 and 27 as it is appointed unto men once to die but after this the judgment so after death comes there is no place of a second chance there is no place of a few moments to pray as you draw your last breath in your heartbeats its last beat and you go out into eternity scripture says as a tree falleth there shall it lay and as your heart beats its last beat your lungs take its last breath you go out of eternity the way that you lived here on this earth makes me want to live the way God wants me to live makes me want to line up with God's Word regardless of what culture says about it regardless of what people say about it makes me want to line up with God's Word I just imagined I'm I've just come to the mindset today that this world is getting very bold in its way of living and if the world is getting very bold in its way of living then the church needs to remain bold in the way that it preaches we don't need a a weak fuzzy warm non offensive message we need the word when when athletes can come out and publicly announce a sin that is an abomination to God according to the word and he is congratulated to the highest offices in our land should preachers not step to pulpits and know that heaven and hell maybe your exspecially hell I don't believe people's got much a problem preaching about heaven it's preaching about a hell that they don't like should the church become weak and anemic in this hour of the world being in bold and in their world in their ways I say not I say it is appointed unto man once to die and after death the judgment funeral director and Knoxville made this comment he said I've been a funeral director for 950 years now he said I have stood in the back of this Chapel and I heard preachers preach sermons for 50 years now and he said according to every preacher that's got up here and preached nobody has went to hell from our funeral home but you see your life is not going to be determined by what the preacher gets up and says about you your aliveness and your entrance into heaven is not going to be predicated upon the man getting up there and remembering some good deeds you did years ago friend you're either going to open up your eyes in heaven or you're going to open up your eyes in hell and it's all based on how you responded to the Word of the Living God you see heaven or hell is determined by whether a person believes puts their trust in God alone to save them John 3:16 says for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life now this word believeth here it's not some momentary mental assent that you put your faith and trust mentally in Jesus it is a it is a lifestyle is it is believing to the place the the e th there on the end of the word believe it means to continue to believe it's not just a once in a while that you bowed your head and repeated a prayer and you're saved and go about your sinful way no the e th means you continue to believe upon him you can tell you to trust in him you continue to rely can I tell you something church that Jesus is the only exit door out of this world and into heaven if we don't go through Jesus we will end up in a devil's hell Sean John 3:36 says these words he that believeth on the son hath everlasting life and he that believeth not the son shall not see life but the wrath of God abideth on him you see hell was not designed for humans hell was designed for Satan and his angels Matthew 25:41 says then shall he say also unto them on the left depart from me ye cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels hell was not prepared for humans hell was prepared for Satan and the fallen angels but humans will end up in hell who choose to follow the deceitfulness of Satan and the demon world around Hell hell will punish those hell will be punishment for those who have committed the greatest sin of all and the greatest sin of all is to reject Jesus Christ the greatest sin of all is to reject him Roma relation 21 and 8 says but the fearful and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and whoremongers and sorcerers and idolaters and all Liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone which is the second death now look at the list of that if you want to know who's going to hell here's the list and it starts out with the fearful now what does the fearful it's the timid it snows that are too timid and shy and backward in this world stand up for Jesus because if you're going to be a disciple of Jesus Christ there's no shame that's allowed in you can't be a closeted Christian you can't be a secret Christian if your gonna live for Jesus Christ you've got to be willing to stand up and take your place in this world you're not fearful you're not timid when he comes in you want the world to know it I'm a follower of Jesus I'm a larper of Jesus I'm a lover of Jesus but do you have the fearful the timid and then you have the unbelieving you know why you have the unbelieving because the Bible said faith comes by hearing and hearing of the Word of God you know why you have you you know why we have unbelieving is because we don't have preaching because we have failed to see the importance of preaching we can set four hours in a football game but don't let a church go on much longer don't let a sermon go much longer than 40 minutes we can sit down for hours and entertainment but when a man gets up and opens up the Holy Word of God that will be alive when the world's on fire the word that cannot change the only way to get out of this earth safely that the only way of eternal life the Word of God not the Koran not any additives not any book of this or book of that I'm telling you it is the word of the Living God that's what's gonna get us out of here but all of a sudden we get people that can't endure sound teaching we get people that get bored when somebody's trying to preach to them and tell them keep your soul right with God are you hear me now there isn't an amazing isn't it amazing that this scripture of Revelation was not given in the book of Acts where were on many occasions sinners were addressed revelation is given to the seven churches so when we talk about fearful we're not talking about people out in the world sinful we're talking about people nestled in the church that are fearful maybe that explains why a lot of folks don't want to be colorful with their worship maybe that explains why our enthusiasms on the ball field and not in the altar maybe that explains why our enthusiasm is over a sale at a department store but never a song that we sing from the choir because we are just a little too fearful and shy and timid and then we have unbelieving and that's because preaching has lost the love of the preaching of the word of God the teaching of the word of God and then when the preaching goes watch this when the preaching goes when you're too fearful then you won't stabilize your life by the word and then when you don't get the word in um the church abominable abominations now talking about the world it's talking about the church and it's a crying shame when sin is running rampant in our churches it's a crying shame when people can live in sin and still come to church you say well broker but don't we want them to come to church we absolutely do but we want them to realize the error of their way we want them we never want to program a service and let's stay off of subjects let's not mention subjects because you know this family over here has somebody with this particular sin in that family and we don't want to mention it because it might offend listen sins should offend the church sins should offend the church and you've got to grow to the place that you don't hurt you don't hate the adulterer but you hated doctory you don't hate the homosexual but you hate homosexuality but you see we don't want to preach it we don't want to preach it or somebody might get offended some way we need to get offended because you will never come out of your sin until you are pricked in your heart that your sin is wrong but if the pulpit is not making a clarion trumpet sound who will prepare himself to battle if we remain silent there will be fearfulness there will be unbelieving that will be abominable things murders murderers whoremongers the sexual craze of sin running rampant mongers we need to teach our young people to keep their virginity we need to tell our T listen our teenage girls and boys should not leave having the fear if I commit fornication she'll get pregnant but they ought to have the ultimate fear that fornicators go to hell what oughta keep kids out of the back seat of a car is not that she might get pregnant and again if this world is going to get bold it's time for the pulpit that's why this is a television sermon today it's time for our pulpits our schools our schools pass out condoms your little girl can go in the office and not have to have your permission and you don't have to know about it but she can ask for a morning-after pill and it'll never be mentioned but let her have a headache and ask for a Talan all and mama has to come give it to her how messed up are we how messed up are we I'm teeny we got our dollars in the church today and then we got Liars and he said all Liars to have their part in the lake of fire but I'm going to come to this closing part here because I hear it I hear it how can a loving God send me to a horrible place called hell the answer is he doesn't you do see we have several police officers in our church with a Kevin fuller with a Delma Carter and do you realize that whether they will arrest me or protect me does not hinge in them it's in my behavior toward them if somebody is trying to rob me they will protect me if I'm trying to rob somebody they will arrest me it all has to do with my behavior God is like the policeman if I'm striving to make a hundred because ninety nine and a half won't do he's going to say well done thou good and faithful servant come on in to the joys prepared before the world was but if I reject his word if I've got carnal thinking if I don't if I think of myself I don't have to give my life to God I don't have to get baptized I don't have to do all these things then there's gonna come a day where he's gonna say depart from me because I never knew you it is your behavior that's going to determine whether you're gonna be arrested or you're going to be protected but I got an answer for my soul now I'm free from the burden this morning the man of God has unleashed and then loaded his soul this morning now it's in your lap now it's in your mind now it's your decision you can either turn toward the back door and go on your way or you can come a-runnin to the older and say save me this morning attach to me this morning I gotta have that touch could you stand with me all over the house of the Lord
