Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
Communion in the homes
- He reminds the people that many of them came by and received an Easter box to help them interact with the service, and that one of the things the church wanted to do was to have communion together this morning.
- He recalls that it began on December 31, 2019, in a service that was not held in their church sanctuary, where they gave out communion — he had helped write a little outline on communion for that service, and fathers and mothers all over their counties joined in their homes that night — never knowing they would soon be having communion again once again in their homes.
- Asked whether he has a word from the Lord for the present situation, he says he does not want to spend a lot of time on the problem and not enough time on the promise, because the promise tells him: we shall overcome.
Out of persecution, a feast
- He repeats the answer of a Jewish man asked whether he feared the hatred and persecution of his people: absolutely not — another attack would just mean another feast for them, another celebration.
- He walks through the pattern: in Egypt the Jews were persecuted, and on the night they came out they came out with a feast called Passover; years later Haman deceived the king into decreeing that all Jews would be killed, and when the day was done the Jew lived and had another feast, called Purim.
- He brings the pattern to the child of God: the world nailed Jesus to a cross on the day He laid down His life, and what the church gets out of it is communion — the Lord's table — and beyond it another feast, the marriage supper of the Lamb; at the end of the day God's children throw a party, victorious.
The institution: First Corinthians 11
- He invites the homes to take the communion cup from the Easter box, with its unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine, and prepare it, gathering their families around.
- He designates First Corinthians chapter 11 and verse number 23, and teaches that the apostle Paul is helping the church of Corinth get back in line with communion: they had allowed their flesh to take communion away from its original meaning.
- He explains that Paul was not there the night Jesus told the disciples to take the cup and the bread — the cup His blood shed for the remission of sins, the bread His body broken — because Paul was at that time a persecutor of the church; Paul received the institution from the Lord by special revelation, not from Peter, not from Matthew, and not as a church tradition.
Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
This do in remembrance of me
- He reads the institution entire: the Lord Jesus, the same night in which He was betrayed, took bread, gave thanks, and broke it, saying, take, eat, this is my body which is broken for you — this do in remembrance of me; and after the same manner He took the cup, saying, this cup is the New Testament in my blood — this do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me; for as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you show the Lord's death till He come.
- He concludes that Jesus gave us a supper — He gave us the communion table — and leads the homes in a moment of thanksgiving before the ordinance is taken.
Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
Thanksgiving over the bread and the blood
- His prayer thanks God for the plan He had before the world: the overshadowing of the virgin Mary, God come in human flesh as the perfect sacrifice, who took the penalty and all the sin of the world and shed His blood.
- He rehearses the sufferings in the prayer: the flesh broken, pierced, stripped, and beaten, the cross, the stripes by which we are healed, the blood shed for the remission of sins — and renews the words of the institution over it: this do in remembrance of me; you do this till I come.
- He looks back in thanksgiving and forward to the skies for the trumpet and the rapture of the church, and the homes take the bread — His body that is broken — with thanksgiving for the stripes, the piercing of His hands and feet, the spear through His side, the crown of thorns upon His brow, and the blood that was shed.

attacked again if we're persecuted again he said it will just mean another feast for us it will just mean another party another celebration for us and the man rather bewildered and said what what do you mean it'll be another feast it'll be another party he said well in Egypt in Egypt they persecuted the Jews for hundred thirty years and said on that one night they came out and they came out with a feast called Passover they came out with a feast called Passover he said go a few more years and should you find a man by the name of Haman that hated the Jews and he even deceived the King into not there that night he was at that time a persecutor of the church he was not there in the beginning but when the Apostle Paul was receiving special revelation from God and being taught by God about the gospel in verse 23 he says for I have received of the Lord that which I also delivered unto you in other words Peter didn't tell me about this this wasn't a church tradition Matthew didn't tell me about this no he said when the Lord was teaching me by special revelation I received this that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread and when he had given thanks he brake it and said take eat this is my body which is broken for you this do in remembrance of me after the same manner he also took the cup and when he had supped saying this cup is the New Testament in my blood this new year as off as you drink it in remembrance of me for as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup ye do shew the Lord's death till he come he gave us a supper he gave us the communion table today and let's just take a moment in our homes thank him right now father I thank you I thank you God Almighty God I thank you Almighty God for your plan before the world you had a
