Thomas Called Didymus

he is our life changing God you have your Bibles and would join me today the Book of John the Gospel of John chapter 20 verse number 19 he said I came that you might have life and that you might have it more abundantly What A lifegiving Savior that he is What A lifegiving Savior that he is John chapter 20 verse number 19 then the same day at evening being the first day of the week when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear

of the Jews came Jesus and stood in the midst and sath unto them peace be unto you and when he had so said he showed unto them his hands and and his side then were the disciples glad when they saw the Lord then said Jesus to them again peace be unto you as my father has sent me even so send I you and when he had said this he breathed on them and saith unto them receive ye the Holy Ghost whosoever sins you remit they sh

they are remitted unto them and whosoever sins you retain they are retained but Thomas one of the 12 called dimus was not with them when Jesus came the other disciples therefore said unto him we have seen the Lord but he said unto them except thou shall see his hands in his hands the prin of the nails and put my finger in the print of the nails and thrust my hand into his side I will not believe after eight days again his disciples were within and Thomas

with them then came Jesus the doors being shut and stood in the midst and said Peace be unto you then saith he to Thomas re reach hither thy finger and behold my hands and reach hither thy hand and thrust it into my side be not faithless but believing Thomas answered and said unto him my Lord and my God Jesus saith unto him Thomas because because thou Hast seen me thou Hast believed blessed are they that have not seen and yet believe for a few moments today

I want to minister to your hearts and Minds on this simple subject Thomas called dius Thomas called dimus father I love you this morning father I thank you for the privilege of having my health to come to your house father I thank you today for your word I ask you God today to give me Clarity in my mind and give me anointing fire in my heart I ask you today Lord to touch the people likewise I pray Lord that you would move upon this congregation today

May the Lost be found God May the Dead Come to Life Today Lord have your way in this Sunday morning service in Jesus wonderful name I do pray amen and amen why don't you give him a hand of Praise as you're being seated Thomas called denus the word denus means a twin a twin there are certain Bible scholars that believe that it was it was not uncommon in those days for a man to have two names for a man to have a Hebrew name and a

Greek name and there are those that have presented that Thomas may have been one name and dimus may be another name that he was called by but the most popular belief of the word dimus is simply that Thomas was a twin that Thomas had either a twin brother or a twin twin sister but I'd like to take this dimus today and tell you of something that I know absolute that he had twins number one Thomas was a man of faith and Thomas was a man of

doubt it's sad to say today that he's most popularly known as not believing Thomas but doubting Thomas let me set the background for us today Jesus had been crucified he had been taken to the Grave or the tomb the next day early the next day Mary Magdalene with other women gathered anointing spices to come and let lay them upon the corpse of Jesus Christ they came to bring spices early the next day while it was yet dark they came for the purpose of anointing his body

but as they as they arrived at the tomb the Bible says that an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and that there was a great earthquake and that this Angel was in a glistening white garment and that he came they were asking who will roll away the stone that stone that weighed several tons some believe who will roll away the stones for us the angel came and I like the wording in one of the gospels simply said the angel descended from Heaven and the Earth

Shook and he rolled away the stone and he sat upon it he just hopped up on it he just sat down and he said he is not here he has risen as he said go into Galilee and Proclaim to his disciples that he is alive that he has risen and I will meet you I will meet you in Galilee go Proclaim that well at the same time there was a great number of Roman soldiers that had been granted to protect or well protect the tomb so

that the disciples would not come and steal away his body the Bible said that these Roman soldiers that they shook for fear now you understand the Angels did not address the soldiers the Angels addressed Mary Magdalene and the women with the good news but the soldiers got to hear what the angel was saying they were shaking they were fearful and in Matthew chapter 28 and verse 11 kind of tells what happened Matthew chapter 28 and verse number 11 now when they were going behold some of

the watch that's that's the the soldiers came into the City and showed unto the chief priest all the things that were done and when they were assembled with the elders and had taken counsel they gave them large money unto the soldiers saying say ye his disciples came by night and stole him away while we slept and if this come into the governor's ears we will persuade him and secure you so they took the money and did as they were taught and this saying is commonly reported

among the Jews unto this day in other words five years later when the Book of Matthew was being written there was still Jews that were believing the lie that had been told by the soldiers that we fell asleep and while we slept while we slept the disciples came and stole his body can you imagine that can you imagine going back into that same room which three days previous stood the Lord and the priest and now stands the Roman soldiers saying he's alive an angel rolled the

stone away told Mary Magdalene that he was risen from the dead and the Chief priest I'm I'm going to tell you something friend if this is ever proved positive of the corrupting power of money the corrupting no wonder the Bible says For the Love of Money is the root of all evil the power that's why that's why money has to be a subject that you keep under the word of God and you keep it in the proper perspective because money has a corrupting power money has

a corrupting power money makes a good servant but allows a master makes a good servant we can serve the Lord with money we can have Men of Honor conferences with money we can build churches with money Friday night I was in Bloomington Indiana we got a young couple that's wanting to go to Honduras and plan a work a church brother Perry in Honduras and at that meeting Friday night through the help of the Holy Ghost their budget for two years was $100,000 to be able to

go to Honduras and set up a home and start preaching the gospel and to the glory of God I called the mission's director yesterday and he said brother Carpenter we more than reached our budget for missionary to Honduras aren't you thankful money is a good servant you imagine they could have followed the women they could have seen the Lord their lives could have ever been changed but they had the Love of Money the love of money money is a corrupting power money is a is a

corrupting is a is is a corrupt corrupting power as a matter of fact if you love money you better love it while you're here CU there's coming a place to where money can't help you Bible said there was a beggar that went to heaven but there was a rich man that fared sumptuously every day and was clothed in fine linen and wanted for nothing but in hell he woke up being in torments I'm I'm here to tell you if you're going to be in love with

money enjoy it while you have it here because you'll be going to a place and if you don't have money here but you know God don't be envious of the rich and the famous don't be envious of them CU we're headed to a city that's got streets of pure gold we're headed to a city that's got Gates of Pearl and walls of Jasper what people value down here God pays the streets that we're going to walk on in that new the Love of Money the love

of money so turned so turned the hearts of these soldiers and they perpetrated a lie they told a lie they would say we fell asleep and they came and stole their body and five years later people are still telling and believing the lie about Jesus look at the two paths one company left the tomb shouting he's alive he's alive he's alive and one company left the tomb saying we fell asleep and the disciples came and stole his body can you imagine that while a lie was

continuing to be told and can I tell you there is no lie that can stop the Church of Jesus Christ while a lie had been told the Holy Ghost fell while a lie was being told a lame man is getting up and walking why a lie is being told there's a gospel that has reached even to Maryville Tennessee on March 16th 2025 that still has lifechanging power I'm glad to be in that company today where the truth come on you believe that today but let's get

back to Thomas I just had to set the scene for you eight days later Jesus Jesus showed up in the room or Jesus showed up in the room excuse me he showed up in the room that evening the Bible in our scripture text text today said U Thomas was not with them Thomas was not with them now Old Testament prophecy said that even Jesus even said it in Matthew 26 he said I am telling you now they shall Smite the shepherd who's speaking of himself they

shall Smite the shepherd and the Sheep shall be scattered that I will raise again and I will gather you unto myself when Thomas got scattered when Thomas got scattered that night in the Garden of Gethsemane when the soldiers came with their torches and the swords and the disciples were just as the prophecy was the disciples got scattered somewhere or another most of the disciples 99% of the disciples after they got scattered said hey we need to get back together hey hey we we we need to

get back together hey hey we we need I know we've been scattered I went Yonder Direction you went that direction you went that direction but wherever they got when they were all alone they realized hey it's not good for us to be alone hey we better get back we we we better get back together and and and and and and the disciples 99% of them them they got together they got together and they got in a locked room they barred the door to the room for

fear of the Jews because they knew that they have got Jesus and they'll come after us next and so they had barred the door the word there says they shut the door but in the Hebrew Greek the Greek means they barred it they they shut the door they they they put things against it they they they wanted to have a few moments to maybe jump out of a window or do something they they barred the door that evening somebody came into that room that didn't need

a door somebody came into that room that no lock can keep him out of somebody just walked into that room and when he walked into that room the first thing he said to him is peace I want to bring you peace I want to bring you this calmness I know you're shaking and you're quaking and you're fearful but I want to bring you peace look at my hands look at my side it is I and then he gave them a little Prelude he said boys let

me tell you what's going to happen in about 50 days and he breathed on them he breathed on them and he said receive ye the Holy Ghost he said the Holy Ghost is going to be given but the Bible specifically says but Thomas was not with them he was not with them evidently Thomas he evidently didn't have a lot of faith in his fellow Believers after all Peter denied him after all I had to sit and listen to gossiping going on about who was the greatest

in the Kingdom I I had to sit around I don't know if I find much comfort in that at all no wonder Thomas didn't show up he was not he was not he was not with them let me tell you something about being assembled together good things happen when we assemble together with people that love Jesus I said good things happen when we assemble together with people that love Jesus that people that know how to pray that people that know the value of the word people

that know the value the people that know the value of structure good things happen in the church good things happen good things happen happened the Bible said where they were assembled together that word assemble there means to join together or to join in one those that previously have been separated in other words they were separated from the garden of YY but now they assemble back together with the exception of Thomas good things happen when we assemble together good something good happened at that First Assembly what

happened Jesus showed up now that's a good thing it's a good thing when Jesus shows up because he said where two or three are gathered together in my name can you tell me what happens when two or three are gathered together in my name what happens there am I in the midst of them good things happen when we assemble together good things happen when we assemble together no wonder David on the run for his life would say in Psalms 343 oh magnify the Lord with me

and may I exalt his name alone now what it says is Sister Wells oh magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt his name together it's a good thing when we get together on Sunday morning it's a good thing when we get together on Sunday night it's a good good thing when the choir gets up here do do you know we've got we we it's it's a it's a good thing it's a good thing it's it's a good thing well I'm trying not to preach

I'm trying not to preach but when you come to this church it's like saying it's like saying sick them do a dog and Sue it to a pig man you just you just want to preach when you come here good things happen when things that are separated come together ask ezekiel's Boneyard bones were scattered everywhere but when the spirit started moving bones started assembling back together and created a structure that God could put skin and breath in thank God for the structure of his people thank

God for the structure of Sunday School right now on the other side of this building your children your grandchildren your great grandchildren are being taught by the word of the almighty God that is called structure they're not being taught Evolution they are taught creation brother Joe Mayo told us now listen to this brother Joel Mayo told me they he and his wife had taken their two and A2 year old baby girl to Chattanooga to the aquarium there and in that aquarium that glass you can see

it's got glass and you see big fish come up and swim and you see all these things that are there and it affected the mind of that two and a halfy old daughter and as she stood there looking at that glass and the fish and all that was was there brother Joel said she said then God created the heavens in the no in the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth two and a half years old she stands and sees this awesome creation and she

says in the beginning God created I'm telling you it's a good thing the structure of the church is a good thing would you lift up your voices and praise the Lord with me right now the structure of the church Thomas Thomas missed out because he wasn't assembled with the others Thomas had his excuses why should I go get with Peter he denied the Lord why should I go with get John John and John and James they're jockeying for positions who sits on the right and the

left hand you I'll tell you there's the like that goes on in the church today you'll never find a perfect church because it has people there's people in the different uh process the different process the different phases of their walk with God but think about the ark would you would you think about the ark for a moment Noah's Ark think about all the different kinds of smelly animals it was on that Ark think about the stink always fascinated me looking at the marbor commercial had a

man out in a pasture field with a bunch of cows and it says come to where the flavor is think about the smells in that Ark think about oh yes the beautiful butterflies we have those but think about those old slimy snakes that were on the ark but you see can I just tell you I'd rather be in the ark than in the storm I'd rather have to endure some smells and some things that are not so beautiful in the church I I'd rather i' I'd

rather have to put up with some stuff and of course I'm going to tell you something if you look at people through the love of God you it'll help you out a whole lot better don't look at them through human love look at them through the love of God see human love says I'll love you as long as you do what I want you to do ah you ain't with me this morning I said human love will love each other as long as you don't get

my parking spot and you don't get my song in the choir and you don't get more attention than I get human love says I'll be your friend and when you have human love you'll find something to fall out with somebody sooner or later but if you can ever reach up and put the goggles of agape love now that's God's love that's God's love that loves you regardless he doesn't change from day to day it's not he loves me he loves me not he loves me he

loves me not I'm being a good boy today he loves me I'm being a bad boy tomorrow he doesn't love me can I tell you something he loves us whether we're a good boy or we're a bad boy and he wants us to perceive the love of God now I already know what some of you thinking I see the caption over your head right now oh that's one of these churches that just preach the love of God and people can do anything they want to do

and they just preach the love of God quite to the contrary if we can get you believing in a God that loves you you will see yourself too good to go dabble in the world if you can see yourself under the love of God you'll look at Temptation and say you know what I'm better than that lifestyle I'm better than doing that I've got purpose in my life if you can ever see yourself oh Thomas had Thomas had his excuses Thomas had his excuses but look

with me in John 20 and 25 the disciples find Thomas they find Thomas that's that's why you're in a church today it wants to find you that's why that's why somebody calls you if they haven't seen you in a few weeks and that's why somebody reaches out to you because that true church is reaching out for the Thomases verse 20 or chapter 20 verse 25 the other disciples said therefore unto Thomas we have seen the Lord but he said unto them except I shall see in

his hands the print of the nails and put my finger into the print of the nails and thrust my hand in his side I will not believe now thank God for a church that has the love of God in it that doesn't give up on Thomas because there's something positive powerful about telling Thomas we've seen the Lord we've seen the Lord tell it to him again well they didn't come tell it to them again well they didn't move tell it to them again well I've seen

no action tell it to him again tell it to him again because evident let me show you this it doesn't take a Greek or Hebrew scholar to see this evidently brother Erikson these disciples had an influence on Thomas Thomas we've seen the Lord this is verse 25 Thomas we've seen the Lord Thomas says I don't want to go to church I want to go I don't want to go there we've seen the Lord Thomas said I want tell you something the only way I'd believe I

could see the prince in his hands thrust my hand in his side that's the only way I'd believe but look at the positive power of the church look at verse 26 see if you can pick it up with me in verse number 26 and after 8 days again his disciples were within what's changed now Where's Thomas at now wonder why he's with them CU they told him we've seen the Lord Church don't ever give up on Thomas don't ever give up on the Thomases in your

life some of you used to sit with a Thomas some of you used to have fellowship with a Thomas some of you used to be best friends with a Thomas but Thomas lost his way but don't give up on them keep telling them oh you ought have been there last Sunday night oh you ought to been there with we got this uh uh we we had this man come preach for us uh uh I believe his name was Taylor bass I mean Taylor fish we had

this man come preach for us oh we had a we had a good time keep telling Thomas keep telling Thomas because Thomas a going to show up he's going to be there with us I'm having so much fun today and Thomas was with them then came Jesus the doors being shut and stood in the midst and said Peace be unto you then saith he to Thomas reach hither thy finger and behold my hands reach hither thy hand and thrust it into my side be not faithless

but believing now let's rule out that the disciples told Jesus that Thomas said unless I can thrust my finger put my finger and thrust my hand and let's just look at God is omnipresent God was in the room where they were assembled and God was manifesting himself in the room where they were assembled but God was also in that lonely closet where Thomas was saying I'll never believe again unless I can see can I tell you today God hears you whether you're in the assembly or

you're all by yourself God still hears you he loves you too much to leave you alone you are like chewing gun on the bottom of somebody's shoe on a hard July day in a parking lot you just can't get it off your shoe God can't get you off his mind I'm preaching to somebody today God can't get you off his mind you're not going to get rid of him as easy as you think he'll sit down beside you in a bar stool he'll sit by beside

you when you're buying illegal drugs he'll sit down beside you when you're doing what you shouldn't be do it he loves you too much to leave you alone I wish somebody would just give him praise right now I wish somebody would just give him praise right now I wish somebody would just Praise Him God heard it God heard Thomas God heard Thomas say what he said although eight days had to go by God heard it Daniel Daniel 10 and two Daniel Daniel you've seen something that's

Disturbed you horribly Daniel you've seen something that has caused you to go on a three-w week fast it's called The Daniel diet can only eat what comes out of the ground Nolan I'm going to tell it on you son we went on the Daniel di he said dad you think if I went out there and buried a Diet Coke in the ground got it out God would accepted in those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks and if you've ever been on the Daniel diet

you know it's three he starts praying he starts fasting day one day two day three day four and on on on Daniel chapter 10 verse number 11 God said unto me oh Daniel the prince said unto me oh Daniel a man greatly beloved understand the words that I speak unto thee stand upright For unto thee am I now sent and when he had spoken this word unto me I stood trembling then said he unto me now follow this now fear not Daniel for from the first

day that thou did set thine heart to understand and to chasten thyself before thy God thy words were heard and I have come for thy words can I tell you Daniel you didn't hit it lucky on the 21st day and prayed just right and you said the words just right you didn't hit get lucky on the 21st day and you pleased God just right held your mouth just right held your hands just right stayed long enough he said Daniel I want you to know that on

the very first day that you started praying I heard you I want to preach hope to somebody today I want to preach encouragement to somebody today God has a memory like you cannot believe today and he heard you the first time you pray I heard you the first time you pray God has let me blow your mind today let me blow your mind with this today me blow your mind God has his memory of every prayer you and I have ever prayed wow God still remembers

three years ago young person when you lay on the floor in the auditorium at Marsh Hill and when they clut the lights out you were still laying on the floor say God use me help me I want to serve you all the days of my life God yeah but three years later I'm not even in church I've made wrong decisions but you know why God keeps on you because he keeps remembering because time is irrelevant with God one day is just a thousand years and a

thousand years is one day when the Angels may say do you see what she's doing do you see what he's doing are you going to keep on loving him God are you going to keep on loving her God God says well it was just five minutes ago they were laying on the floor telling me not to let go of them I'm the what a God we serve today what a God what a God what a God what a God think about it today we are privileged

to be in his presence what a God what a God what a God woo Hallelujah I feel like shouting I feel like praising I feel like living for God what a God we serve just don't light your fire your Woods wet what a memory what a memory what a memory God has let's look at it again from another angle John 1 verse 45 John chap 1 verse 45 philli findeth Nathaniel saith unto him now Nathaniel is kind of a cynical fella he's critical Nathaniel don't trust

no one Philip find it Nathaniel sath unto him we have found him we have found him of whom Moses and the law and the prophets did write Jesus of Nazareth the son of Joseph let's listen to what Nathaniel says and Nathaniel said unto him can any good thing Nazareth was where you went and you lived if you didn't want you want to get to Nazareth that's where all the outcast from Jerusalem went that's where all the prodal live that's where everybody that broke God's law they

they moved to Nazareth can anything good come out of Nazareth Philip said to him come and see Jesus saw Nathaniel verse 47 coming to him and saith unto him behold an Israelite indeed in whom is no G what an introduction it wasn't hey Jesus this is Nathaniel Nathaniel this is Jesus none of that junk was going on Nathaniel just walks up never seen Jesus before Nathaniel just walks up and Jesus says oh an Israelite indeed in whom there's no G Nathaniel saith unto him whence knowest

thou me how you know me Jesus answered and said unto him before philli called thee when thou was under the Fig Tree I saw you under the Fig Tree was where they went for prayer under the Fig Tree is where they went for their morning devotion under the Fig Tree is where they sat in the shadow of the Fig Tree and they read the scripture under the Fig Tree Nathaniel had got up that morning and had his nice little polite prayer time under the Fig Tree

Philip come and said we found him Philip brings Nathaniel to Jesus Jesus said you're an Israelite and you have no deception inside of you you Nathaniel said how in the world do you know me and Jesus said well this morning when you got up and you went out under the Fig Tree I saw you under the Fig Tree can I tell you something today the fact that God sees you and knows you ought to be the fact that you Proclaim that he is Lord he is

savior he is God of all can you praise him for that today you see today if you're trying to live for God based on you no wonder you're up and down up and down up because you're filled with t tempal emotions but God is not God is the same yesterday today and forever I saw you I knew you under the Fig Tree Nathaniel said Rabbi Thou Art the Son of God Thou Art the king of Israel now let's just try this for a moment how many

are glad that you fell under the conviction of the Holy Ghost and when you heard the gospel how me glad how many are glad you had a moment of tears and crying telling God I'm sorry for the way I've lived how many are glad when you got the nerve built up to tell somebody beside you tell the preacher I want to get baptized remember remember how many is glad when you praised him and gave your life and submitted to him until your tongue started speaking something

that you had no control over I'm so glad for that I'm so glad repentance prepared me to come out of the world baptism took the world out of me Holy Ghost baptism put God in Me we're in the world not of the world glad for that but what if we find a man in the Bible that hasn't yet Fallen under conviction what if we find a man in the Bible that hasn't repented what if we find a man in the Bible that hasn't been baptized in

water nor filled with the spirit wonder how God would treat him we find such a man in Acts chapter 10 and I'd like for our musicians to come we find the man in Acts chapter 10 verse number one there was a certain man in cesaria called Cornelius a centurion of the band called The Italian b a devout man means he was morally good it meant that he sought God but with very little knowledge of God a devout man one that feared God with all of his

house and which gave much arms to the people he was compassionate man and prayed to God always he saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming into him and saying unto him cornelus and when he looked on him he was afraid and said what is it Lord and he said thy prayers and thine arms are come up for a memorial before God church family today with everything this preacher's got in it I'm trying to get us to

see that as we all battle we all all of us battle being Thomas called dimus we all struggle whether we want to admit it or not we all find ourselves sometimes on the doubting side we all find ourselves wondering sometime am I battling this cancer alone am I alone fighting these Demons of hell that have come against my life are we alone fighting these these uh these enemies that have come am I alone am I alone but the struggle is to pull myself out of Doubt

because d doubt looks at my ability doubt looks at my strength but if I can ever get a hold of the unchanging hand of God I begin to pull myself out of doubt I begin to pull myself out until I begin to say I believe in him who is able to do exceedingly and abundantly and above all that we can think and or ask we begin when the blessings come say God you did it God it was in your hands God you brought it to pass

would you stand with me right now oh Jesus God your prayers and cornelus your prayers have come up for a memorial God can't even Walk Around Heaven till he sees a memorial to your prayers over here angels have stacked up your prayers Around Heaven till God has heard you Washington DC our nation's capital is the city of monuments there's over 100 monuments and memorials in that City the Lincoln Memorial the Jefferson Memorial the Washington Memorial on and on and on and on what is a memorial

is something that man builds for the purpose I don't want it ever never be forgotten you have forgotten prayers but there's a God you have forgotten prayers but there's a God that says I remember on this date here I remember what you did I remember what you said Audrey no wonder God doesn't give up on us sister Sonia no wonder God doesn't give up on us cuz we forget it but there's a God that says if they can just reach out pull themselves out I'm just

overwhelmed by his Spirit right now I'm just overwhelmed my you spirit I can't comprehend it I can't fathom it God if I measured myself based on my love I would have give up on me a long time ago but God you have a love that cannot be comprehended by my mind come on we just love him right now come on we just love him right now why don't you give God something to record right now why don't you give God something to record right now I

wish you would really pray right now I wish I had probably about 50 people that would reach into my heart today and you would set your section on fire with a prayer a prayer God oh God Thomas called denus my Lord and my God my Lord and my God my Lord and my god listen to me for just another moment I beg you I plead with you I plead with you in the name of Jesus this morning to make March the 16th 2025 a memorial what

can be remembered about March 16th 2025 I gave my life to God this morning I gave something over to God this morning I gave something over to God today I obeyed the word of the Lord I was baptized in Jesus name I was filled with the Holy Ghost I gave God something today my Lord and my God my Lord and my god listen listen to me and I close with this I close thank you for your response thank you thank you that the aisles are full

and the altars full if you would just push up on around the altar a little bit try to get these people in the aisles in the altar would you do that oh don't you feel God this morning don't you feel God this morning Nolan come up here a minute you're Thomas I'm Jesus Thomas said my Lord and my God Jes Jesus says Thomas you have believed me because you've seen the prince oh yeah you believe me because you've seen me but on March 16th 2025 Ain
