Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
Between the Testaments: the old will and the new
- Lesson seven takes up what stands between the Testaments: the Bible is divided into an Old Testament and a New Testament, but the New Testament did not begin at Matthew chapter 1 verse 1.
- Malachi's closing words — remember the law of Moses, and the promise of Elijah turning the hearts of the fathers to the children — are the last three verses of the Old Testament's prophecy, not the end of the old covenant itself.
- A testament is of force only after the death of the testator; the Old Testament therefore runs through Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and ends when Jesus cried again with a loud voice and yielded up the ghost on the cross.
- Between Malachi and Matthew lie some 400 years — the persians had a rule, the greeks had a rule, and in the Gospels we are under the roman rule — in which new religious groups sprang up: the scribes, the Pharisees who believed in a resurrection, and the Sadducees who did not.
Scriptures: Malachi 4:4-6; Matthew 27:50; Hebrews 9:16-17
The promise made in Eden and delivered in Bethlehem
- In Genesis 3:15 God made a promise after the woman and the man had sinned: enmity between the serpent's seed and the woman's seed — her seed would bruise his head and reverse the curse.
- When the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
- The child born in Bethlehem was none other than God robed in human flesh; the offering up of that flesh would bruise the head of the serpent and destroy sin's upper hand, and God has sent forth the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Scriptures: Genesis 3:15; Galatians 4:4-6
The forerunner: the messenger who prepared the way
- Before the messenger came, the child Jesus was found in the temple at twelve years old, astounding the doctors; some eighteen years later John came on the scene a few months before Jesus' baptism.
- Malachi prophesied the messenger who would prepare the way before the Lord, and Isaiah voiced the same promise: the voice crying in the wilderness, every valley exalted, every mountain made low, the crooked made straight, and the glory of the Lord revealed.
- Mark opens his gospel with those prophecies: John baptized in the wilderness and preached the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins, and all the land of Judea and Jerusalem went out to be baptized of him, confessing their sins.
- God does not show up where there is not repentance; when Jesus came down to the Jordan, John announced him — behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world — the sacrifice God provided himself, prefigured in Eden's slain animal and Abraham's ram.
Scriptures: Luke 2:46; Malachi 3:1; Isaiah 40:1-5; Mark 1:1-5; Luke 3:21
The shape of the New Testament and the gospel summed up
- The Gospels can be summed up in one sentence — Jesus Christ with us; the book of Acts is Jesus Christ in us, the birth of the church and the apostles' doctrine preached by the men Jesus taught for three and a half years.
- Romans through Jude are the epistles, twenty-one letters written to people who had already repented, been baptized in water in Jesus' name and filled with the Holy Ghost, teaching baptized believers how to live — Jesus Christ beside us, or keeping us.
- Grace does not lower the law's bar but raises it: the law dealt with the outward act, grace goes to the heart where anger and lust begin; and the Revelation is the revealing of Jesus Christ, taking the veil away from heaven.
- The gospel of Jesus Christ can be summed up in his death, his burial and his resurrection: it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth.
Scriptures: Romans 1:16
The name of Jesus: faith in the name that heals
- Jesus' life was marked by miracles that revealed his identity — healing every infirmity, commanding wind and waves, and casting out devils not by wrestling but by the authority of his name: not by might, nor by power, but by God's Spirit.
- He taught in parables because the kingdom's precepts are opened only to the hungry — faith the size of a mustard seed, and lives kept free of the rocks and thorns.
- Peter and John had no silver and gold for the lame man at the gate called Beautiful, but what they had they gave in the name of Jesus; the man was healed because he got faith in a name.
- Examined for that good deed, Peter answered that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom they crucified and God raised from the dead, the man stood whole — do not put confidence in a man, for the power is in the name.
Scriptures: Acts 4:9-10

you would have your Bibles and would stand with me tonight lesson lesson number seven we have been unlocking the Bible and we are on less than number seven we're making our way through and brother Haman did such a wonderful job last week matter fact to all the all those that have have taught the less and have done such a tremendous job we must know our Bibles we we must know we must know our Bibles I was praying with someone Sunday night in the altar and someone that that hell wants to destroy but God needs to elevate someone that hell wants to curse but God wants to bless someone that has more for them than against them and I felt the spirit inside of me just kept saying pray the word over him pray the word get him to say the word get him to say the word and we're not we're not only made overcomers by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony but we're made overcomers by the word we need we need the word turn with me to Malachi chapter 4 and verse number 6 excuse me Malachi chapter 4 and verse number 4 Malachi 4 and 4 as a matter of fact it is the last sister carpenter it is the last three verses in the Old Testament and is the last three verses in the Old Testament remember ye the law of Moses my servant which I command unto Him in Horeb for all Israel with statues and judgments behold I will send you Elijah the Prophet before the coming of the Great and dreadful day of the Lord and he shall turn the heart of the father's to the children and the heart of the children to their fathers lest I come and smite the earth with a curse and that sounds like the families getting back together doesn't it Matthew chapter 27 and verse number 15 Matthew chapter 27 and verse number 50 and Jesus when he had cried again with a loud voice yielded the ghost yielded up the ghost the last scripture in the introduction here is Hebrews chapter number 9 and verse number 16 Hebrews chapter number 9 and verse number 16 for where a testament is for where a testament is there must also of necessity be the death of the testator for a testament is of force after men are dead otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth lesson number 7 father I love you tonight I thank you for the privilege and the awesome presence that I feel here tonight overwhelm God every time I come into your presence I'm overwhelmed God with your love and your mercy and your grace and I'm overwhelmed with your people God father as we learn more about you through the word help us God to be able to not only learn more about you but let us learn with the motive to share you for the more we know of you through the word the more we can share father bless this Bible lesson tonight in Jesus name we pray amen you may be seated thank you for standing between the Testaments we know the Bible is divided between a No Old Testament and a New Testament and there is a little bit of a misunderstanding there is a little bit of the misapplication because many believed that the New Testament begin with Matthew chapter 1 verse number 1 and that is not correct that is not correct the Old Testament did not in until there was the death of the testator it was God's will to bring about the New Testament and in order for the New Testament to go into force there had to be the death of the testator now some have said some have said that that at the end of Malachi and that is the in Old Testament it's not not so the Old Testament covers Matthew Mark Luke and John the Old Testament ends with the last gospel the Old Testament ends when the death of the testator is put into force and the death of the testator was on the cross and the death of the testator birth what you and I are in tonight that is the New Testament church the New Testament church so it's of necessity as we read Matthew Mark Luke and John that we understand that we're still under the law still under the law I believe they would have the chart one of lesson number seven that shows between the tests it's the Old Testament the old will of God the Old Testament the old will of God and the New Testament the new will of God we see here that between Malachi and between Malachi and Matthew was a period of 400 years we see that the persians had a rule the greeks had a rule and when we speak in tonight we're under the roman rule in the Gospels of Matthew Mark Luke and John we understand that nearing these 400 years there were new religious groups that sprang up one was the scribes scribes were very educated men that had the ability of variety they were highly educated highly sought after stripes there was a religious group two of them that had prominence one goes by the name of Pharisees the other goes by the name of Sadducees now if you were to ask the difference between the Pharisees and the Sadducees there's just one big difference between them there's just one big difference the Pharisees believed that there was a resurrection after death they believe there was an erection whereas the Sadducees did not embrace a resurrection some have said that it goes further than that they said because the Pharisees believed in life after death they were fair you see but because you get it but because the Sadducees didn't believe in life after death they were sad you see we understand it that the Greek language become the universal language but not only that there was a tremendous religious dissatisfaction religion was not giving anyone the answer the answer that they wanted turn with me to chart number two chart number two opens up with the New Testament gives us an oversight of the New Testament it covers the Gospels now understand we're still under the law the Gospels Matthew Mark Luke and John which is the biography is the biography of the life of Jesus Christ talks about his birth it talks about his life his works his words talks about his death his burial and he's his resurrection so when we look at the Gospels of Matthew Mark Luke and John we simply can sum it up with one sentence Jesus Christ with us Jesus Christ with us if you just wanted to take Matthew Mark Luke and John and circle it and say this is Jesus Christ with us you now go over to the book of Acts where we are not under the law any longer the law has not been done away with but the law has been fulfilled it's amazing how people look for excuses not to do certain things and their excuse is well that was under the law that was under the law and what they don't understand is that they're trying to get out of something that and they're trying and they'll say that's under the law and now we're under grace and they'd understand that grace is tougher then the law grace is tougher than the law how do you figure that he goes like this thou shalt not murder thou shalt not kill that's the law but God came he fulfilled the law and he said order fulfill this verse let's go to the heart of where merit murder begins the law dealt with the outward but the law but grace deals with the heart and he said whoever is angry with his brother without a cause whoever calls his brother a fool or an empty skull the law said thou shalt not commit adultery the law said but grace came around and grace said don't look and don't lust so the people that want to peddle the businesses that's under the law we're not under the law anymore they need to understand we need to understand it the law said certain things but grace came and in a lot of ways improved it but set the bar a little higher so we have we have we have a lot of phones going off right now all right all right that's totally alright I think that's some probably all of us who didn't need our phones just I think that's an Amber Alert or something like that so well let's just keep our minds right here what do you see the book of Acts let me see if you're listening to me Matthew Mark and Luke and John can be summed up in one sentence what would it be I think you said did you say Jesus Christ with us that's what that's great the book of Acts contains the history of the church what the Apostles taught the plan of salvation the verbatim preaching of the men that Jesus Christ had taught for three and a half years he taught these apostles it's one of the reasons I identify myself as a pathologist 'day they're saying don't put a label upon yourself don't label your church if you label your church you'll turn people away you know call your church the spoon or the fork or or the plate or but don't label yourself I want to label myself because I want to lay my myself apostolic because to me that's one of the greatest privileges that we could ever have is to be taught the Apostles doctrine not a watered-down not a watered-down version but to be taught the Apostles doctrine the men who better would know what Jesus would want to be taught who better would know what was on the mind of Jesus then these men that spent three-and-a-half years with him what better men the book of Acts it's the birth of the church we found a birth of the church and the second chapter of the book of Acts so they wanted to circle the book of Acts and we wanted to write a sentence out by the book of Acts we wanted to circle it now if we circled the Gospels what would the sentence me again with us but if we circled the book of Acts it would be Jesus Christ in US isn't that wonderful the Gospels is Jesus Christ with us but the book of Acts is Jesus Christ in us how many are glad tonight that your spirit baptized I'm so glad tonight that that up that explains that verse of scripture where Jesus said I'm with you but I shall beware mother thought I shall be in you so I'm glad we've got the Gospels because the Gospels identify Jesus Christ but I'm glad for the book of Acts because the book of Acts puts Jesus Christ inside of us and we go from the book of Acts to the book of Romans and Romans through Jude is what is referred to as the epistles 21 letters written to churches and disciples who had already obeyed the plan of salvation see I spent the other day and the precious man may be watching tonight and I had such a wonderful talk with him the other day and I really appreciate that talk we had but he's been listening to us by way of the web and in he's trying to figure out this plan of salvation but where he's been taught that the days of miracles are over and only only a slight few got the Holy Ghost in and on and on and he would keep wanting to go to the book of Romans or one of the book of Corinthians and say that tongues and cease and what we always have to be reminded of when we go from Romans to Jude is it's written to people who were repented believers baptized in water in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost so you can't go there and extract something to say it didn't happen because it's written to people that had already experienced it so now if we if we circle the Gospels we would have one sentence to say Christ Jesus Christ with us if we circled the book of Acts we would say it is Jesus Christ in a if we circle the epistles we would circle and say Jesus Christ cheeping cheeping Jesus Christ beside us because the epistles were written to tell baptized believers how they ought to act how they ought to live how they ought to worship what they should do and what they shouldn't do it was good to have the book of Acts Christ in us but we need Romans through Jew to teach us how we ought to act how we ought to walk how we oughta shine this light so it's Jesus Christ keeping Jesus Christ with us and in the last book in the New Testament is the book of the book of Revelation now most of us do just exactly that we'll say the book of Revelation it's a lot like we say the book of Acts the book of Acts you do know that's an abbreviation we do know that the full title the full title for the book of Acts is the actions of the Apostles they stir breviary another reason that God wanted the actions the words of these men recorded but we say the book of Revelation but that's not the full title of the book the full title of the book is the revelation of Jesus Christ do you know there is a revealing of Jesus Christ some of the strongest scriptures in all the Bible that prove that Jesus Christ was God is found in the book of Revelation do you know that God takes the veil away from heaven and shows us just how many Thrones there are in heaven do you know that God takes the veil away shows us the conditions that churches can get in if we don't keep Jesus in us and beside us the book of Revelation tells us that when we see the world coming together as one and we see an anti god of anti Jesus Christ spirit prevalent the book of Revelation the book of Revelation saw it on fox news the other day when this is this is nothing new we've seen it down through but now it's becoming more popular the chip in the hand people just go by now and scan that barcode is scan it with their hand they scan it there well that's been in the Bible because God said I want to reveal to you I want to I want to show you some of the things the hatred the hatred for the nation of Israel is all in the book of the revelation of Jesus Christ you mean the next chart please remember when we first started some six lessons ago when we first started and Genesis chapter 3 I believe is Genesis chapter 3 and verse number 15 Genesis 3 and 15 the woman has sinned the man has sinned God has given punishment but in Genesis chapter 3 and verse number 15 God made a promise God made a promise he said I will put enmity between thee and the woman between thy seed and her seed it shall bruise thy head thou shalt bruise his heel God made a promise to Satan that one day the woman would bring forth the seed if I could just say it like this a seed that would reverse the curse a seed a woman is going to bring a seed and this seed is going to reverse the curse Galatians chat to number four and verse number four Galatians chapter number four and verse number four but when the fullness of time was come God sent forth his son but when the fullness of time had come God sent forth his son made of a woman made under the law to redeem them that were under the law that we might receive the adoption of sons and because your sons God has sent forth the spirit of his son into your hearts crying Abba Father you see God made a promise God made a promise in Genesis 5 3 and 14 God made a promise and anytime God makes a promise God will always deliver on his promise and so in Bethlehem when the angel appeared to Mary and told her that she was highly favored that she would bring forth a son and they would call his name Jesus God made a promise Genesis 3:14 god delivered a promise Galatians 4 Galatians 4 in for this baby this this child was none other than God then God rode this baby was none other than God robed in human flesh now tonight I want to pause here for just a moment wanna pause here for just a just a moment I know that we all believe that God came to this earth 2,000 years ago we all believe that Mary conceived in her womb and miraculously conceived and gave birth and when she gave birth that baby was the son of God or the flesh the flesh the flesh of God now so when that baby was born in Bethlehem's manger that baby was God in him and form he was God we call it Road but he was God he was God in flesh and he had a purpose to fulfill there was a purpose to fulfill and that purpose was that child would grow to be a man and it would be the offering up of the flesh that would bruise the head of the serpent that would bruise the head of the serpent destroy the upper hand destroy the upper hand the upper hand to destroy the upper hand of sin now please I'm gonna I'm gonna sister Preston I'm gonna confess something tonight and when I confess this I confessed it to my family the other day and and and it's what I confess to him I was reading my Bible I was reading my Bible I was reading my Bible and when I was reading my Bible about him coming out of Egypt oh I hope y'all don't y'all love pastor tonight you sure you do you sure you do I don't want you losing confidence in me tonight I am but it's gonna be her thank you I was reading my Bible about him coming I need you and I I've always believed he drowned Pharaoh's army in favor of horses but he said don't go me I just really they rode round to say grow not just Pharaoh's army but Pharaoh the main one drowned of course I confess that in front of sister Lauren and she said well you've not met with you two watching Disney you didn't know that faith will drown you but you know in topology we want to typify everything don't we win against truth the pillar of fire is the Holy Ghost pillar of cloud as Holy Ghost the Red Sea is baptism Moses was Jesus so if Pharaoh's army is drown in the Red Sea and favorites drown in the Red Sea then they don't ever have to fear Pharaoh and his army anymore because the real Battle of us is not Pharaoh and his army tonight the real battle with us is getting through the wilderness and not murmuring and griping and complaining the real problem of us tonight's not fail because praise God Satan has not going to be Satan has been defeated Satan has been not going to be he's not going to be defeated when you get to heaven he's not going to be defeated the rapture of the church right now Wednesday night I'm teaching Satan has all ready all ready all ready been defeated now boy don't that just kind of turn this upside down because that's going to change it let's go change our vocabulary little bit because we're going to start saying man the devil is really messing with me if the devil's messing with you you're in Egypt and the only way he can mess with you is for you to get in Egypt because Egypt the only place he rules so if you're saying man the devil is really messing with me you're in Egypt because you can't come through the waters and still have the devil alive in your life because the problem in the wilderness was not Pharaoh and his army they didn't wake up at night look outside their tent door and wonder where's Pharaoh at they saw Pharaoh and his army drowned that's they sang the song the horse and the rider had he thrown into the sea the Lord has triumphed gloriously they didn't walk in the wilderness afraid of fragrant Pharaoh they had problems in the wilderness because when they should have come to times of trusting God looking back and saying God has destroyed the enemy and if God destroyed Pharaoh in his army he can send us water if God if God destroyed Pharaoh in his army he can send us food if God can destroy Pharaoh and his army there's no and at any time we run into a need where's I God at but they chose instead of reflecting back on what God had done they chose to reflect back on their flesh and they begin to murmur and they begin to play complain I'm so thankful tonight I'm so thankful tonight that Jesus Christ faith in that name that's above every name there's are not a mountain of trouble that I cannot go over if I focus on Jesus name there's not a problem in my life there's not an addiction there's not and there's got a season of my life that I can't get through if I have faith in that name would you give him some praise right now come on would you please give him some friends precious God the baby is born Luke Luke chapter 2 and verse number 46 he's 12 years old find him in the temple they find him in the temple after a few days of forgetting him and leaving him in Jerusalem they find him in the temple astounding the doctors there some 18 years later this man about the name of John came on the scene Jesus had been born he astounded the doctors he'd astounded hit us down to the doctors but a few months before his baptism a man came on the scene turned with me to Malachi chapter 3 verse number 1 Malachi chapter 3 and verse number 1 this man came on the scene his men by the name of John Malachi chapter 3 and verse 1 this is prophecy this is prophecy in the Old Testament that was going to be fulfilled God says behold I will send my messenger and he shall prepare the way before me and the Lord whom you seek shall suddenly come to his temple even the messenger of the Covenant now in Malachi chapter 3 he says he says if you would give me Isaiah chapter 40 and begin reading at verse number one but God says here in Malachi he says I'm sending my messenger I'm sending God said I'm sending my messenger before me and he shall prepare the way before me now who's speaking God he's saying there's going to come a messenger and he's going to prepare the way he's going to prepare the way before me and said the one you're seeking the Lord you're seeking is going to suddenly come to the temple that's a that's a prophecy now I see a chapter 40 verse number one listen to God speak this is God speaking comfort you comfort he my people saith god verse two please speak he comfortably to Jerusalem cry into her that her warfare is accomplished that her iniquity is pardoned for she hath received of the Lord's hand double for all of her sins verse three the voice of him that crieth in the wilderness prepare ye the way of the who who prepare you the way of the Lord make straight in the desert a highway for our God for every Valley shall be exalted every mountain and Hill shall be made low and the crooked shall be made straight and the rough places plain and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see shall see it together for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it you see in those days when a king one of what a mighty king was going to take a trip across his kingdom years before they would the king would actually come workers on the roads would come if there were high places that would bring them down because they wanted the King to have a smooth road to ride upon if there was low places they would bring them up because they didn't want the King to go down in a valley if there were crooked paths they would straighten them out before they wanted the King to come on a straight Highway and so in the Old Testament there was a prophecy now give me mark the Gospel of Mark chapter one in the Old Testament there was prophecy given from God that a messenger would go before God that God was coming and before God would give would appear suddenly before God would appear suddenly that there would be this messenger now Malachi said there would be the messenger and then I see it kind of getting us some details about it because he said he will come out of the wilderness and he will be crying to the prayer prepare the way of the Lord now as the earthly Kings wanted mountains to be brought down he was saying the prideful is going to have to come down and he was saying those who have no self esteem at all need to come up and those that are crooked need to be made straight this was all prophecy that God was going to send a messenger now look at mark chapter 1 verse number 1 the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God the Son of God the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God may the next verse please as it is written in the prophets okay what are we going to base this back on sister Susie as it is written in the car as it is written by the prophets what's Mark writing mark is now saying this is the beginning the gospel of Jesus Christ and by the way we need to be reminded that the gospel is good news good news as it is written in the prophets behold I send my messenger before thy face who shall prepare the way before thee the voice of one crying in the wilderness prepare ye the way of the Lord make his paths straight John did baptize in the wilderness and preached the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins there went out unto him all the land of Judea and they of Jerusalem and that were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan confessing their sins who was John John was the forerunner of God John was the forerunner of god he was the one that went before when God was going to appear well when did God appear God appeared in flesh in the body of the Lord Jesus Christ that's why that's what's so beautiful John had to go before Jesus appeared to John he just came walking down the seashore where John was baptizing one day and John had a revelation of him oh give me uh if you would if you would give me I believe it is Luke chapter three and verse number 21 Jesus comes down and as John is baptizing he looks up and John sees Jesus this is great John sees Jesus because John has been preaching that there's one coming after me and we need to get ready for him every high place brought down every low place brought up every crooked made straight and that is the doctrine of repentance can I tell you that we need to prepare our lives for God to show up in our lives God does not show up where there is not repentance that's why that's why anything worth talking about in my life has always come after prayer you know it always comes after prayer because if God just gave us and gave us and gave us we would look at him as a rabbit's foot a four-leaf clover we just look at him and then it just happens good things just happen to me what I'm gonna tell you something good things do happen for me but it's after I pray because God wants for it to be known that you've got this because you called on my name you've got this because you believed in my name you're lucky number didn't come up in heaven I just get a look down haphazardly decided I'd bless you but not you and I poured it out on you and not you he says when you get anything from me you're gonna pray you're going to repent and when you repent just get ready all of a sudden you're going to look around and here comes the son of God walking down the riverbank and when he did he's baptizing people he shook the community with repentance and when he did here came Jesus and guess what John says about him John looks up in it he announces to the crowd behold the lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world the reason that he said a sea is going to bruise your head and the reason that he was brought forth made of a woman because that God in flesh had one purpose and that was to reverse the curse that's why you ought to love Jesus that's why you ought to be fanatical about your love for Jesus he should not be someone you think about once a year or twice a year or once a week he should be on your mind and listen you shouldn't go three or four minutes in the day without having a Jesus moment lord I I just love you I just love you Jesus say I had a I had a wonderful thing happened the other day I had a wonderful thing happened and that was I got ready to pray and I felt in my heart a voice say to me why don't you just talk to me all day today why don't you just talk to me all day now I know that might sound a little way off what did you stay in the prayer room all day no I went about my day with a Jesus consciousness about me because we understand he wasn't born just to give us a special few holidays he was born to attack the greatest enemy of our lives of our children's lives he was born to totally dominate and have us put our foot upon the neck of the serpent and say you're not going to rule me anymore you may rule those folks down in Egypt but I've done come through the Red Sea of baptism I've done been filled by the pillar of fire and I'm walking in victory because he is the lamb it's an amazing that John called him a lamb John called him the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world an animal died that day in the garden for Adam and Eve to be clothed the very first time an innocent animal had to die wasn't long after that Abraham was in the most serious test of his life taking his son Isaac to offer his son Isaac up as a burnt sacrifice but God Isaac and his dad get in a conversation going up the hill Isaac knows enough about worship to say dad I'm I see something missing here there's something missing here dad I see the knife you got dad I'm carrying the wood dad I see the fire you got in your hand dad but yeah I'll tell you what's missing the sacrifice is missing and Abraham prophesied and he's my son God shall provide himself God shall provide himself a burnt offering a sacrifice oh how true that would be God wouldn't send someone else God would provide himself with a body God became Jesus Christ became the innocent animal that died in the Garden of Eden Jesus Christ became Abraham's Ram that was offered up in the thickets and then the countless thousands of bulls and goats and lambs the blood that would flow by the gallons if they had all the blood that flowed upon the tent up on the altar at the temple the tabernacle the thousands of gallons of blood he was the great tip of fire of that because when that child that was born and grew that age and hung upon that cross and shed his blood oh my friend that blood that was shed it covered our sinful bodies he covered our sinful behavior and the blood has never and will never lose its power the blood will never lose its power I'm all I'm all for counseling I'm all for counseling I'm all for being plugging into the right people but can I tell you that what will help us to understand we are redeemed and we are forgiven is to understand the virtue of the blood of Jesus Christ just as powerful tonight as it was that afternoon when it flowed down his body there at Calvary come on let's take a moment and just love God right now come on let's love God right now hallelujah I hear somebody praising the Lord tonight let's let's praise him right now thank you lord thank you Lord the life of Jesus Christ the life of Jesus Christ is marked by miracles Jesus Christ performed numerous miracles while he was on the earth while some of Jesus miracles were done out of compassion for the people others revealed his true identity others revealed his true identity can I tell you that we believe in healing tonight but I have never prayed for anyone who was not born again without praying God heal them to reveal your identity heal them to reveal your identity to them heal them God to open up their eyes he did new miracles he did do miracles in order that they would know he was no ordinary man he had power to heal any infirmity that a human body would have he had power to heal the death he had power to heal the blind he had power to heal the paralyzed he had power to heal blood disease there was not one sickness of the body that Jesus Christ did not have the power to heal but let's think it not strange he made us would we dare question a mechanic who repairs a broke car and standing all that he was able to fix the car no we wouldn't we wouldn't do that because that's what he does he understands how it works so that day when those two blind men made their way into the room where Jesus was and they said Lord heal us as a matter of fact they knew a little bit about Jesus they said you're the son of David would you heal us he turns to them and he says your faith has made you whole and immediately they received their sight immediately he controlled nature he stands on the bow of a boat and tells the wind to cease and the waves to lay down would it be any wonder he was the god of creation you see the world's got it ran to Rome they they talk about mother nature it's not mother nature come on get in your Bible it's father creator it's not mother nature it's father creator and so when the wind was blowing he knew the wind my name and he said be quit mem and be still he told the waves to lay down and just like that they did and you know what that but we know the disciples said what manner of man is this that even the wind's and the sea obey thin to your heart tonight about Jesus I want us to understand I want us to dust I want it's not just a it's not just a name that sounds good in a song it is a name that when we mentioned that name all diseases in all nature there was something Jesus did that not one okay Old Testament prophet could do as a matter of fact you'd be hard-pressed to find the devil acting up from Matt Malachi back to Genesis oh he's underground don't get me wrong but he's not real vocal he's behind the scenes but he's not real vocal but when God comes to this earth in the form of a man there was a lot of demonic manifestation going on people crying out full of the devil but he comes around and I don't care how many silly Hollywood movies you see he didn't handle demons like them silly Hollywood movies show he didn't he didn't come whimpering and shaking and the wind's blowing and houses blowing up and and all that he didn't even lay his hand oh no he didn't lay his hand on him he didn't wrestle in the floor with them I catch the devil out of a young girl one night in the camp meeting in Missouri because it aggravated me that down in the foot she didn't have a devil in her but had done a rascally with her and she is just she flopped around and his wrestling with her and she is throwing up and all that stuff and I told him to just move move move aside move aside devil in the name of Jesus Christ come out of her that's a lay your Hannah you you you you really did that yeah I really I really did that because I really believe that he is more powerful you can't even put you can't even put the devil in the same ballpark with God you can't even put the devil in the same ballpark but God it's not God's here in the devil's here no no if you know his name you don't have to back that shut up you can begin to command the enemy Hey and they listen and listen don't don't nobody know how well how spiritual our pastors don't have a cotton-pickin thing to do with spirituality has everything to do with just knowing the power that's behind that name because not by might nor yet by power but it's by God's Spirit saith the LORD it's by the name of Jesus he did something elijah elijah he did something a lot of these prophets never did he controlled demonic spirits he controlled demonic spirits one of the things one of his one of one of the things he he one of the things he said we did we did good to do this one of the first things he did when he confronted someone full of the devil he told him to be quiet he told him be quiet that's a problem too many people too many people are trying to read their Bible and let the devil talk to it's time to get a holy boat I'm getting back into the swagging bit I'm getting back into this bowl business because we wait too long we've let the enemy run roughshod over us we let the enemy run roughshod over I like now pitch the enemy I'm gonna tell you things are gonna change if it's just life God's going to give you grace to endure it let me say that again if you see enemy things are going to change if it's just life God's going to give you the grace to go through it and you are going to be victorious you're going to be the head and not the tail you're gonna be above and not beneath that's exactly right but if it's the devil you're gonna be able to say listen I feel that ol ugly I feel that old ugly spirit tryin to come over my life I feel that a ugly damned spirit tryin to come over in my life I feel that old drab spirit tryin to come over my life it's a spirit of hopelessness it's a spirit that I might as well give up it's a spirit that I might as well throw in the towel it's a spirit that nothing enters gonna change I need to shake my ship and say no I am more than a conquerer I am more than a conquerer through Christ Jesus I believe God hears my prayer I believe God's going to make a way I believe God is going to change some things and come on when you stand with me right now would you stand with me right now he controlled the devil's he taught parables you know why I talk parables he taught parables and that came to him one day and said Lord why are you talking these parables why do you talk about fish and soil and seed and birds and trees well you talk about and pearls well you talk about this and he said because I'm trying to teach you how to operate in the kingdom I'm trying to teach you about kingdom precepts I'm trying to teach you that you are my kingdom is not of this world I'm trying to get you to understand that all it takes is faith the size of a mustard seed I'm trying to get you to understand if you keep the rocks and the thorns out of your life God will grow some good things I'm trying to get you and he says but the reason I do this he's because everybody among us is not hungry so I teach this in such a way that the only way you get it is to be hungry for it the only way you'll get it is to be if you're not hungry for it you know you're never gonna get it preaching is yelling churches two hours it's all about hairdress and tithe all right and that's a good sign you don't get it but if you ever get a hold of the preset you'll see that's exactly so he talked he talked parables he talked parables then we know and and and again and again I'm to page I'm a bunch of pay I'm out of time and pages many pages Bonnie talk about and then give me the next give me the next chart please a chart number four it's a gospel of Jesus Christ can be summed up in his death it's burial and resurrection thank God look at romans 1:16 the gospel of jesus christ is the what is the what the power of god and unto what salvation to whoo-hoo-hoo everyone that believeth thank God and he made a promise in Genesis 4 3:14 and he fulfilled it in Galatians 4:4 and he came as a sacrifice he came the son of God no where is he called God the Son he's never called God the Son in the scripture he is called the Son of God because he was God robed in flesh thank God for the death of the flesh thank God for the burial of the flesh thank God that that same spirit caused the resurrection of the flesh Jesus sister dawn so good to see you tonight so good to see you it's that lovely name of Jesus that has held that trip don't ever put your confidence spiritually in a man even when God does great things it's not the man we've often read Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer a certain man was blamed from his birth late at the gate called beautiful asking alms who's seen Peter John about to go into the temple asking alms Peter fastening his eyes upon him said silver and gold have I none but such as I have give IV help me finish it huh in the name of Jesus later on in Acts chapter 4 in verse number 10 or verse number 9 Acts chapter 4 and verse number 9 what a lovely name Peter and John are in trouble because of the healing of this lame man and Peter opens up his defense he says if we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man by what means he is made whole be it known unto you all and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth whom you crucified whom God raised from the dead even by him that this man stand here before you hold Peter said don't look at us and don't try to deify us because it wasn't Peter and it wasn't John and it wasn't that man but that man got faith in a name and when he got faith in a name he was healed of this of this being crippled when we can get faith I hope this simple Bible study tonight causes us to go back to the very basics of the power of the name of Jesus Christ there is
