you're not already standing stand with me right now this evening and we're going to get into the word of the lord god is certainly good heaven will be air-conditioned and hell will be hot and i'm glad that i've got my plans to go to the place where it's air-conditioned i was talking to brother wimberley today brother wimberley pastors just right outside of houston texas i was talking to him today and he said it's going to be a 108 degrees here in texas today and he said and it really got my mind to thinking he said bill carpenter what did people do years ago that when they didn't have air conditioning didn't have all this how did how did they make it and i really believe they made it this way i believe it was just as hot back then as it is now i believe they had 108 degrees in texas 80 years ago i believe that well even weather reports tell us but how'd they make it well that's all they knew they didn't know air conditioning they didn't know you could step outside you could step inside from 108 and be in 68 they didn't know that right so when you don't know something when you've not had both sides then you just kind of endure with what you're in then i'm thankful that we'll never be unhappy and we'll never be happy in the world because we have tasted another side and i'm glad to know the other side aren't you i'm glad to know the other side turn with me in your bibles to ezekiel chapter number 33 and we're going to read verses one through seven and uh i want to add with brother erickson making special mention of our guest pastors that are here tonight it's always a joy to have them and we don't necessarily have them come up and testify because if if if you could be in a pastor's shoes tonight when you get off from where you pastor at you're just such in a relaxed state you're not worried about the air you're not worried about those folks that are saying it's too hot and it's too cold you're not worried the lights on light enough or are they too light you're not worried about is the sound loud enough or is not loud enough you're just there soaking in a good service and so i our good pastor friends tonight i pray this service is a blessing is a blessing to you ezekiel 33 and 1 again the word of the lord came unto me saying son of man speak to the children of thy people and say unto them when i bring the sword upon a land if the people of the land take a man of their coast and set him for their watchmen if when he seeth the sword come upon the land he blow the trumpet and warm the people then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet and taketh not warning if the sword come and take him away his blood shall be upon his own head he heard the sound of the trumpet and took not warning his blood shall be upon him but he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul but if the watchmen see the sword come and blow not the trumpet and the people be not warned if the sword come and take away take any person from among them he is taken away in his iniquity but his blood will i require at the watchman's hand so thou o son of man i have set thee a watchman unto the house of israel therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth and warn them from me for a few moments on this wednesday evening bible study i would like to teach on the watchmen on the watchmen tonight please help me pray and we have many prayer requests that come in but these prayer requests are life-threatening prayer requests please remember sister crowder when you pray please remember brother ray bryant and sister kathy belcher please remember sister step tonight when you pray that god's hand would be upon them and last but not least please ask god to anoint touch your pastor tonight that he could teach you god's word let's pray together father we love you tonight lord we thank you let's everybody pray lord we thank you tonight god lord one thing i do know you'll make a way god one thing i do know lord you are faithful one thing i do know lord i can find you in the word lord there's one thing i do know god you hear us when we pray in the name of jesus lord i ask you this evening lord to touch this lesson touch this bible lesson that i prepared tonight open our hearts and our minds lord heal the sick lord sister crowder needs a miracle brother bryant needs a miracle sister belcher sister step god they need a miracle god lord i ask you tonight to perform that miracle of healing lord come sit down on us tonight and for the next few moments lord let us receive with meekness the engrafted word which is able to save our souls in jesus mighty name we pray amen and amen please give the lord a hand to praise you're going to receive something tonight why don't you give him a hand of praise right now oh go ahead and thank you for what you're going to receive right now i praise you lord i praise you lord you may be seated i've asked them to put a picture of what is referred to in israel as the iron dome the iron dome is a mobile all-weather air defense system used in israel the system is designed to intercept and destroy short-range rockets and artillery shells fired from distances of two and a half miles to up to 43 miles away the path of these missiles are headed to israeli populated neighborhoods we understand that being a friend of israel being a friend of israel that last year alone we committed to help them with the iron dome to the tune of 1.6 billion dollars to help them the iron dome was declared operational and initially employed on march the 27th 2011 near beersheba on april the 7th 2011 the system successfully intercepted a rocket launch from gaza for the first time march 10 2012 the jerusalem post reported that the system shot down 90 percent of rockets launched from from the range of the iron dome interceptions from a maximum of 43 miles to 160 miles november or october of 2014 at that time the iron dome had intercepted over 1200 rockets that had been fired the israelis understand one thing they understand that they have an enemy they understand that they have an enemy they understand that that enemy lives breathes and eats to erase them from the face of the earth they know that they've got this enemy that they must continually be on guard there's not a day that they turn the iron dome off the iron dome is not turned on on sabbaths and midweek sabbaths the iron dome is operable 24 7. they understand that they have an enemy another interesting thing about israel is they understand who the enemy is they understand who they're fighting and they understand that their very existence of a people will always be threatened that they're always threatened and they always have been threatened and so the iron dome the iron dome is there day and night scanning the airways scanning the airwaves to pick up any kind of missile anything that has been launched toward one of their neighborhoods i would imagine if you ask an israeli tonight if you mention the word iron dome i would imagine a smile would come across their face i would imagine that nobody is writing in the streets of jerusalem wanting to do away with the iron dome i would imagine that if you would speak to an israeli this evening they would give nothing but high praises for this modern day technology called the iron dome well in bible days israel didn't have an iron dome but god did give them something similar he was called a watchman a watchman he's referred to as several things in the bible he can be referred to as a watchman on the wall he can be referred to a watchman in the watch tower as a matter of fact as you study the scripture you'll find that there are plural watches certain watches of the night that's because there wasn't one time during the 24-hour day that there wasn't a watchman on the wall or a watchman on the tower his job was to scan the horizon his job was always to take an elevated position among the people that he was placed to protect he was always to have an elevated position because in the elevated position on the wall or in the tower gave him the advantage of looking out over the horizon he could see things coming before anyone else down below in the city streets the little israeli girl in the front yard playing with her doll or the little israeli boy in the front yard playing with his slingshot the old israeli man on his way to the market with some fruit or a young israeli maid down by the whale gathering water they could go about their business with the confidence that they could look up on the wall and they could know that we have a watchman on the wall that's someone that we have placed there on the wall the watchman on the wall also had some job descriptions and they also had some horrible consequences should they become bored with looking out over the horizon should they become bored in the middle of the night as they walked back and forth and looked out over the dark night should sleep come and should they become bored and just in their mind say i'll just bow my head catch a small nap should a watchman be caught sleeping the watchman paid the ultimate price he paid for it with his own life do you remember the philippian jailer and when god caused the earthquake that the prison doors were opened everyone's bands were loosed that the philippian jailer drew out a sword to kill himself why because he knew that the roman law said that if a prisoner escapes you will pay for it with your own life and so this watchman was under these consequences is if i get bored with the job that i'm doing it would be better to quit this job than to become bored with this job and lose my life and possibly the lives of the citizens of jerusalem this watchman on the wall i'd like to talk to you about tonight his purpose was for protection his purpose was for early detection you know they say in the field of cancer that one of the best ways to beat cancer is early detection you know living for god one of the best ways to overcome the enemy is when the enemy comes with a molehill and not a mountain i'd rather i'd rather detect the enemy very early than to have to figure it out way after he set up shop in my life things are falling apart the watchman was for protection the watchman was for early detection of the enemy the watchman was security the watchman was comfort i go back to the iron dome for a moment the israeli people would smile and say we're very thankful for that iron dome the israeli people would say it's a it's a comfort tonight to lay down and know that we have the iron dome to keep us safe and no doubt in bible days the israeli people as they watched that man on the wall as he walked no doubt they had a sense of comfort when they saw that man they had a sense of of security when they knew that they have that man they have that man in their lives it's interesting to note i'd like to take you back to my text tonight of ezekiel 33 and verse 2. ezekiel 33 and verse 2 says this son of man speak to the people or speak to the children of thy people and say unto them when i bring the sword upon a land if the people of the land take a man now now we begin to see the responsibility here we begin to see things in the true nature it wasn't a watchman trying to go about the people convincing them that they needed a watchman it wasn't the watchman trying to go among the people knock door to door and try to tell people you really do need me in your life you you you really do need me you you i know you're involved in a lot of of recreation and i know you're busy right now making money and i i know you're busy right now raising your children and you're you're busy with a lot of things but i want you to know i i i i'm running for watchmen i i i would like to be that that's not the way that happened you see the people understood the people understood we need to have a watchman we need to have a watchman the people understood that was it was it necessarily the watchman giving sermons and series on the need for a watchman it was the people using common sense that just simply said we have an enemy that will not rest until he has erased us from the face of this earth and let me tell you today just as israel had had and has an enemy we the church of the living god has an enemy we have an enemy that will not stop until we are missing from the house of god we have an enemy he doesn't care how young you are how old you are we have an enemy that works tirelessly to try to get us offended to try to get us occupied to try to get us to see that this is really nothing worth being a part of there's other things we could spend our time on we have that enemy let me go back and just when the people of the land does it say it when the people of the land when the people of the land take a man but wait a minute not just any man not not just any man a man of their coast in other words this scripture here seems to tell us they just didn't choose any man it had to be a man of their own coast it had to be a man that they they knew that they knew something why because there's one word that you need to ask yourself when finding it when finding a watchman there's one word trust trust why do we have to use the word trust look how strong he is look how cheap he'll work for look at all these things i'm going to tell you why you got to use the word trust is because your life depends on him staying awake your life depends on him taking his job seriously he doesn't have a job he's protecting a city he's protecting heritage why if i go to sleep and the enemy comes and wipes out this city he wipes out all of our heritage so this one word comes into play trust trust trust we find in uh first thessalonians if you would turn there with me we find there in first thessalonians chapter 5 and verse number 12. first thessalonians chapter 5 and verse number 12 someone say praise the lord paul says and we beseech you that word beseech there means to beg that's what it means beg plead with we beg you this is this is nothing to take lightly we beg you we beseech you brethren to know them that labor among you and are over you in the lord and admonish you paul says now church at thessalonica please we beg you we plead with you know them that labor among you know them that admonish you know their life know what they're like don't just pull up under any old tent you see on the highway because there's a cross there and go in and sit down know them don't just turn the television on or the radio on and and think man i really like what i'm hearing you better know them know what kind of life they're living know them know them that labor you know why you need to know them is because you're going to put the most valuable things in their hands and that's your soul could we just worship for a moment come on could we just worship come on the watchman asks could we just worship right now should could we just worship god right now oh god i in the name of jesus in the name of jesus hello not about courthouse come on church come on god wants to speak to us tonight about the watchmen in our lives god wants to speak to us tonight about that watchman on the wall god wants to speak to us can we trust him paul said you better know him you better know who he is when a man gets up and he's admonishing you and he's preaching to you and teaching to you and telling you how to be blessed you you better know him listen knowing someone means something knowing someone knowing someone becomes precious over time knowing what they're like to where you can in your mind say they're good people that's a good man that's a good man that's a good man brother i'll pick on him because he went back to california i thought i lost brother darren that's a daring with one r all right but you see one i can look at him now and i can tell anybody in this church it's a good it's a good man he's a good man he's a good man i'll tell you what daryn's not only a good man he's got a good mama they're good people they're good people call a 30-day prayer meeting she'll be here every morning praying talking to god can i tell you you can never you can never put a price tag on knowing people on knowing people he said know them that labor among you and admonish you and then verse 13 and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake in other words he said you ought to esteem that watchman because he's protecting the most valuable thing you have you sir you man those little kids that are on that pew tonight he's looking out for them he's going to make sure that this church keeps a healthy diet of apostolic doctrine poured out over this pulpit he's going to make sure that from time to time like last sunday night he's going to make sure that we're reminded of our apostolic identity he's going to he's going to understand it may not be the most favorable thing that people want to hear you know nobody wants to hear nobody wants to hear that smoke sensor go off in your house i don't even like to hear the smoke sensor go off when i'm testing the cotton picking thing but you know what there's people that are alive today because when they lay sound to sleep they installed a smoke sensor in their house by law they installed that smoke sensor and something a wire a wire caught fire and caught the wall on fire while they were sound asleep that thing went off in the middle of the night that irritating sound went off and they were able to escape with their life can i tell you sometime the voice of the watchman is very irritating sometimes the voice and especially to those that haven't yet learned the value and the comfort of having the man of god not just a preacher there's a difference between a preacher and a pastor a preacher preaches your grandpa's funeral but a pastor helps you to tell your son how he ought to live and you know what you do you go home and say that's the way when this house is gonna go because i don't just have i don't just have a preacher in my life i've got a pastor in my life i've got a watchman that's upon the wall i've got somebody on the wall that is watching come on would you give him some praise tonight it was god's idea to give us a watchman it was god's idea to give us a pastor see it was god's ideal say it with me it was god's idea come on say it again it was god's ideal to give a pastor it was god's idea turn with me to jeremiah chapter 3 verse number 14. now did you notice there when god said to the watchmen he said i will speak through your mouth i will speak through your mouth what i say is what you say can i go ahead and tell us tonight while we're looking for jeremiah 3 14. don't go around wondering oh i want god to speak to me don't don't don't no no he could he can speak to you with your bible in a prayer room but i believe the vast majority of the time god speaks to you through the mouth of the watchman i believe he speaks to you through the mouth of the watchman if you'll just tune your ear if you'll just tune your ear stop this fleece business stop this you know trying to get alone and and i know that god has spoken through a fleece and god has spoken through being in prayer but the majority of the time if you listen to god god will speak through your watchmen he'll speak just exactly what you need because remember it was god's ideal to give you a watchman look at jeremiah chapter 3 verse 14. listen listen to god if you're here tonight and you're a prodigal you're here tonight and you're you've wandered away from god you're watching tonight and you used to be here but you've wandered away from god and you're a prodigal the god that i see is not the three strikes and you're out i have counseled with more people that told me that they sit in an altar service and somewhere in an altar service a preacher said something went like this if you don't come to the altar tonight you will never hear from god again man i just don't see that in the bible i just don't see that but it would amaze you the people that struggle coming back to god because they didn't come to the altar that night and they believed that god has just written them off i just don't believe that i just don't believe god writes us off i i just don't i i understand blasphemy of the holy ghost i i understand all that but i just don't believe god writes us off that quickly listen to god turn o backsliding children saith the lord for i am married unto you i will take you one of a city into a family and bring you to zion look at how god presents himself god presents himself as a jealous husband that's what god presents himself he's as if he has a wife that is being unfaithful and she is coming and going as she pleases and he's like he's like a jealous husband and he's saying please come back to me please don't go there anymore please don't go to those temple places anymore please don't please don't do that anymore i'm married to you i love you please don't do that to me that's not the god that's three strikes and you're out to me that's not the god that if you don't come tonight i'll never talk to you again i serve a god that speaks through my mouth and tells you i'm married to you would you please come would you please come to the altar would you please give your life do you ever thought about on sunday mornings and sunday nights when i began to say would you please come to the altar would you please let go of the back of that pew would you please you've got a tightness in your stomach and you've got a big clump in your throat and your knuckles are white from gripping the pew sir would you please come on down to the altar you said well that's brother carpenter given an altar call oh no it's not it's god speaking through the watchmen trying to tell you come on to the altar i'm married to you i love you i know you've been whoring around i know you've been i know you've been sleeping around but i love you in spite of this and i'll take you back if you'll just simply come back to me oh i wish we'd love our god tonight please come back i'm married to you i will take you i'll take you one from a city i will visit a city if there's just one there that'll come i'll take you to from a family i'll bring you back to the church i'll bring you to zion watch verse 15 and i will give you pastors see it's god's ideal a pastor a watchman is not some north america tradition that we somehow found ourselves in for god to give us a pastor and a watchman was god's ideal himself and i will give you pastors according to my heart which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding they're going to give you some knowledge and they're going to give you some understanding you get some knowledge you'll never leave this your church you get some understanding you'll never turn your back on god and buy into the cheap fake trinkets of this world you'll stay right here in the house of god you'll marry in the house of god you'll raise your children in the house of god you'll see your children marry in the house of god you'll bring your grandbabies to the house of god and one day they'll row your body down the middle aisle of this church and we'll preach your funeral and see you over on the other side but you got to have some listen this is the best life you could ever live this is the best life you could ever live come on if you're glad this is the best life you could ever be living right now right now all over our city right now all over our city moms and dads are sitting on hard benches at ballparks because they're having family time junior's learning how to play baseball or the little girl's learning something about a beauty pageant and this is our family time can i tell you there can be no greater family time than understanding time in the house of god can i tell you that little boy learning how to hit a ball won't teach him how to make the right decisions in life that little girl learning how to walk across that stage half-naked is not going to teach her the dangers of drugs and the dangers of all this folks we got to understand we are blessed tonight to have the church sister samantha i didn't give you the next verse but would you put jeremiah 3 16. that's the next verse i'll give you pastors god says i'll give you pastors according to my heart they're going to feed you with knowledge and understanding and then verse 16. and i i need it and it shall come to pass now amen shall come what's going to come to pass what's he give us huh what's he give us pastor and it shall come to pass when you be multiplied and increase in the land in those days wait a minute sounds like to me that if i want real prosperity i'll get a watchman in my life sounds like to me i can't get multiplied and increased without a watchman it shall come to pass in those days said the lord they shall say no more they shall say no more the ark of the covenant of the lord neither shall it come to mind go ahead give me the next verse neither shall they remember it neither shall they visit it neither shall that be done anymore wait a minute how much do we talk about the ark of the covenant i mean we're all time talking about the ark of the covenant the the world is intrigued with the ark of the covenant they're trying to find the ark of the covenant right now some declare it's in india that they're talking about the ark of the covenant the ark of the covenant the ark of the covenant as a matter of fact hollywood has even made a movie entitled raiders of the lost ark but god says pardon the grammar you ain't seen nothing yet you got excited over a golden box carried on the shoulders of levites you got excited that my glory was on top of it and it had a mercy seat but you just wait till i give you a pastor when i put a man in your life that's teaching you the word of god and giving you the understanding when i put a watchman in your life that when the enemy's firing his missiles into your house trying to destroy your marriage your sanity your children trying to put perverted spirits on our boys and girls those missiles are coming god's got a gold dome god's got an iron dome that gets up and begins to say we'll start a christian school we'll have strong tower champ meeting we'll have a youth rally we'll have all that and god will give us all folks i think we got to praise him right now that's exactly what a watchman is come on i wish you look ready i wish everybody raised their hands right now and i wish everybody just opened their mouth up come on you raise your hands whoa hallelujah god said you wait till i give you a pastor you wait till i put an iron dome on you you wait till i put something on you that'll that'll that'll quench the fiery darts of the you you just wait why why you're going to stagger in on a wednesday night you're going to be a little depressed you're going to be a little down the hounds of hell have been shooting missiles of depression in your mind but all of a sudden you're going to step into the house of god and somebody's going to learn a new song i know one thing he'll never fail i know one thing he'll make a way i know one thing he's always been and all of a sudden you're not doubting anymore you're shouting all of a sudden you're not down you're up on your feet waving your hands a watchman trust say it with me trust trust trust that's why the character of a watchman is so important pastoral staff all three of you eric said you were the first to have the talk brother nolan's second maybe maybe brother hammond and you brother nolan brother erickson when i said in co-op and we asked you to come here and i had tears in my eyes and i told you that i had lived my very best to keep the pulpit clean did i not you remember you remember the talk i said i've kept my name clean there's not a reproach there's not a finger that can be laid on my name and i'm not saying that isn't a braggadocio i'm saying it to the glory of god because i'm going to tell you what if you can't trust the watchman you can't trust nobody can i tell you your banker can be crooked your doctor can be crooked your plumber can be crooked but you can't have a crooked you can't have a crooked watchman and i said to you brother eric and i said to you brother nolan and i said to you brother hammond i've kept this pulpit clean this church has got a clean name in this community the leadership's got a claim name in this community they may not like the fact that we're not trinity but they we got a clean name here they may not like the fact that we're not with them in a lot of doctrinal era but i got news for you they can't put one finger on the character of the watchman in the pulpit i said please by the answer please don't ever shame this place please nola don't ever shame it please brother hammond don't ever shame this place please leaders please church people how we live matters trust trust somebody say that we're with me trust trust trust trust samuel's old and the people well i'm preaching my family tonight hale you don't don't you know that hell's got a target on my kids don't you know that every grandchild that's ever born sister carpenter hell puts a target and says if we can ever get one of them if we ever get one of them we can begin to plant seeds of doubt in the people's minds to the character of the leadership if we never just get one of them i read this i wish i wish i'd kept it i wish i'd kept it so i could present it tonight but satanic worshipers say their chief people to convert is not only christians they love to convert christians or so-called christians to satanism but do you know who is their prized trophy that they put on a shelf a preacher's kid a preacher's kid that's why carpenter eric's and hammond family let's keep our names clean because the whole thing is not talent of how well i can play an instrument it's not talented well will i can put a sermon together it's character character character trust trust trust trust samuels live for god but the people find one little niche his sons walk not in the way of the lord in first samuel chapter 12 might's quieting here tonight but i do believe quiet services are the foundation for shout downs first samuel 12-1 samuel said unto all israel behold i have hearkened unto your voice in all that you said unto me and have made a king over you and now behold the king walketh before you and i am old and grey-headed and behold my sons are with you and i have walked before you from my childhood unto this day behold now let me stop there for a moment that's a pretty good track record he said i am old and gray-headed stooped shouldered and i have walked before god from my childhood that's a testimony see i started off in this thing a little boy laying back there in the room and heard the voice of god i've lived for god behold here i am witness against me before the lord and before his anointed whose ox have i taken whose ass have i taken whom have i defrauded whom i whom have i oppressed of whose hand have i received any bribe to blind the mind the eyes therewith and i will restore it man what a testimony as a leader what a testimony to get up and he says i want somebody to bring an accusation against me who have i defrauded somebody tell me a bribe that i've taken somebody speak and tell me a way that i've taken something that didn't belong god we ought to all strive to be a samuel and they said thou has not defrauded us nor oppressed us neither hast thou taken ought of any man's hand and he said unto them the lord has witnessed against you and his anointed is witnessed this day that you have not found found ought in my hand and they answered he is witness don't read it now but read it when you go home tonight he may be gray-headed and stoop-shouldered but give him about 25 verses and listen to him pray and when he prays god honors his prayer with an amen of thunder clapping in the background he could still thunder you know why i could still thunder because he was the watchman on the wall students tonight i'm very much aware that what was preached sunday night moms and dads i'm very much aware especially maybe some of those that are new either to the apostolic church or sad to say to this apostolic church but i am sure students at times you've gotten together and said well i just don't really understand why we can't go there i i just don't really understand why we can't do that do you you mean we're going to go to hell if we go there we're going to go to hell if we do this let me let me emphasize something tonight our traditions are not a heaven and hell thing they are our protection they're our protection so don't just look at one little thing and say well i just don't understand you mean i'd be lost over this you're going to be lost if you untie yourself from everything and you're just afloat in the world apt to be drawn into any kind of doctrine yes strong tower tonight can i look at you right in your eye and just simply say this i know i'm old and gray-headed trust me trust me trust me some of you that may be new to the apostolic faith trust me just trust me you see tonight if you want what i've got you've got to be tethered to what i'm tethered to trust me young lady if you look tonight and i i i hope this is not a it's seeming like a braggadocio but if you're sitting there and you're thinking i'd like to be married i i we were in we were at the alabama upc camp last week and a young man we were eating lunch and we all got up from the lunch table and went to the car and a young man i don't know if he's the youth president for the state or what but he stopped me and and he said we need you to do some teaching i love the way you treat your wife i love the way that you let her walk out in front of you i love the way at the restaurant you pull the chair out i love the way that you that you that you all dote over each other i i i love that can i tell any young lady tonight here if you want that look up here you got to trust me you got to trust me all right young men if you want somebody like sister carpenter you want somebody like some of these godly women in the church you gotta you gotta trust me oh by the way i happen to know this our elder brother sean ammons and sister sandra ammons are gonna celebrate their 38th wedding anniversary won't y'all stand right now i want y'all just stand would you elder what a blessing they've been to first apostolic church young ladies i'd like to have a man like brother ammons young boys i'd like to have a girl a woman like bro sister ammon well if you do you got to trust me you got to trust us in those little decisions when you're sitting around saying i just don't think we have to do that i just don't think we that that would matter would you please just trust the watchman because the watchman looks farther down the road he looks further down the road than you can see you just gotta trust him oh come on praise him with me for a moment you just gotta trust me you just gotta trust me well well i just tell you i just understand do you know that i think i heard somebody tell me that we're not allowed to date that boy or that girl that comes in the church until they've been in the church six months oh that's a tradition you ought to tie yourself down to you
