Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Start where the difference starts

  • The question this church will be asked is, what's the difference between us and any other church in Blount County — and the wrong places to start are dress, hair, speaking in tongues, and baptism in Jesus' name.
  • Start with the place of the difference: one God. Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord; have we not all one father, hath not one God created us?
  • Against it stands the doctrine he examines all night: three persons, coequal and coeternal, called the Trinity — a word that appears nowhere in the Bible and surfaced in church history long after the last book of the Bible was written.

Scriptures: Deuteronomy 6:4; Malachi 2:10

God is a Spirit: eternal, invisible, everywhere present

  • God is a Spirit, and they that worship him must worship him — him, not them — in spirit and in truth.
  • It is the Spirit who is called eternal: through the eternal Spirit Christ offered himself without spot to God — the Bible never says eternal father and never says eternal son.
  • Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God: Moses endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
  • Whither shall I go from thy spirit? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there; do not I fill heaven and earth, saith the Lord — and the eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

Scriptures: John 4:24; Hebrews 9:14; 1 Timothy 1:17; Hebrews 11:27; Psalm 139:7-9; Jeremiah 23:23-24; Proverbs 15:3

Almighty, and all-knowing

  • To a 99-year-old man the Lord appeared and said, I am the Almighty God — mighty is mighty, but almighty is all over mighty.
  • Ah, Lord God, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power, and there is nothing too hard for thee: do not give up on miracles.
  • To God only wise — the only wise God our Savior: O Lord, how manifold are thy works, in wisdom hast thou made them all; the Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth.

Scriptures: Genesis 17:1; Jeremiah 32:17; Romans 16:27; Jude 25; Psalm 104:24; Proverbs 3:19

Father by creation — and the child who is God with us

  • In the beginning the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters: what makes God a father is creation — as a man is not a father until a child is born, God became the Father of creation when he created.
  • Is not he thy father that hath bought thee? But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter.
  • A virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel — God with us: the creator in the manger is the same God who made the waters, and so he could turn water into wine, walk on the water, still the wind, and multiply the fish and the bread.

Scriptures: Genesis 1:1-3; Deuteronomy 32:6; Isaiah 64:8; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23

My Lord and my God — the name, and the fullness

  • Thomas answered and said unto him, my Lord and my God — the same one Lord of the opening text: you cannot have two ones, and you cannot have three ones.
  • Father, Son and Holy Ghost are descriptive titles of the one God, not names — and the name of the Father is Jesus, the name of the Son is Jesus, and the name of the Holy Ghost is Jesus; without the name right there is no remission of sins and no promised Holy Ghost.
  • It was not our own tenacity that broke the habits that held us; it was the Holy Ghost — and Paul settles who Jesus is: for in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. It's all in him.

Scriptures: John 20:28; Deuteronomy 6:4; Colossians 2:9

Well, praise the Lord, church. Aren't you thankful we're just here tonight to brag on the Lord Jesus Christ? To glory in his great name. Aren't you thankful you can glory in his great name? Glad that we can glory and brag on Jesus. I said we can brag on Jesus tonight. Is anybody here can brag on Jesus? Come on, let's brag on Jesus for a moment. You brag on him tonight. You'd remain standing with me. I want to brag on Jesus. Elder sis- Elder Sister Seaton come and gave us report that she got the report today from the doctor that she is cancer-free. >> >> And we praise God, don't we? Come on, Jesus did it. Jesus did it. >> >> Said, "Oh, no, she went and had treatment." I don't CARE IF YOU HAD TREATMENT OR NOT, Jesus does it. And then let me give a report back from Dr. Adams' mother. Uh Dr. Adams had got the report that his mother had the cancer. She had it in her mouth and her gums, and uh they feel like that they got all the cancer out, and then they went into reconstructive surgery, and I just can't wait to give you a full report on Dr. Adams' mother that she is doing fine. And I thank God. Is he a healer? Is he a deliverer? Is he a way maker? Is he a problem solver? Can he make a way? Sure he can. You know what? I want to go ahead and give you my title before I read my text. All right, I want to give you the title, and then I'm going to read I'm going to read my text. My title tonight is What's the difference? What's the difference? Turn to a neighbor and say, and I I I hate when preachers do this to me. Don't you hate when they say, "Turn to about somebody and say." Turn to somebody tonight and say, >> >> "What's the difference?" What's the difference? What's the difference? How many believe that one of the reasons we got the Holy Ghost is not just to shout, but one of the reasons There's several reasons, but one of them is you were given the Holy Ghost to be a witness. Everybody in this room is a witness. You're a witness. Now, whether you determine you're a good one or a bad one will be how you witness. But we're all a witness. We're all a witness. When sharing this great apostolic message, how many appreciate this great apostolic message? When sharing this great apostolic message, better known in Acts 2:42 as the apostles' doctrine, teaching, as sharing this question is often asked, "What's the difference between FAC and any other church in Blount County?" You'll be asked. You just >> >> Hey, just tell me something. What's the difference between us? Now, before you start with the obvious, dress, hair, speaking in tongues, and baptism in Jesus' name, I'm going to tell you, those are the wrong places to start. I It's not that I don't believe in it. I believe in it strongly. Everything I just listed. But when you're witnessing, that's not the right place to start. Here's the right place to start. Deuteronomy chapter 6 and verse number 4. Before you do the obvious of dress and hair and speaking in tongues and baptism in Jesus' name, say, "Let me start with the place of the difference." And the place of the difference is one God. Deuteronomy 6 and 4. Hear, oh Israel, the Lord our God, could you finish it for me? Is how many? One Lord. How about Malachi 2 and 10? Malachi 2 and 10. Well, I love that participation tonight. Malachi 2 and 10. Have we not all one father? Hath not one God created us? Tonight, I simply want to do a Bible study, an old-fashioned Bible study, on What's the difference? And I hope it aids you in witnessing in our community. Father, tonight I come before you. I thank you for the healing of Sister Seaton. I thank you, God, for the healing of Dr. Adams' mother. I thank you Lord in faith for the full recovery of brother Nash. I just go ahead right now, Lord, and thank you for full recovery when he goes into surgery. And I thank you, Lord, for I thank you, God, for full recover for mother Seander. Lord, that she'll walk back through those doors once again and worship and praise you. Lord, every name, God, that's mentioned, every name that's scrolling, oh God, God, would you touch and God, would you heal? In Jesus' name, touch the people tonight. Lord, help me to feed the flock. Lord, help me, God. Help me, oh God, to feed the flock tonight. Help me, oh God, that we'll be great witnesses for you. In Jesus' name, I pray. And everybody said, "Amen." You may be seated. What's the difference? Now, they would say, "We believe in one God." But they would begin to describe their belief in one God as three in one. Three in one. Three in unity that make up one God. It's often referred to as the triune God or the Trinity. The triune, the three the three in one. They would tell you that this three in one, that they all make up one. So, if you would dare hint to them that it is idolatry of what they believe because worshiping anyone but the one true God falls under the category of idolatry. And they would be quick to to come back and say, "Oh, no, these three are one. They're one, but they're describing of it is these three persons of the Godhead that are coequal. That means coequal means each shares the same amount of power as the other. And they would say they are coeternal, which simply means that each are eternal as far as eternity that our minds cannot comprehend. But when we place this under the microscope, not the telescope, but when we place it under the microscope of the Bible, we begin to find errors in this three separate persons, three separate persons. Each are coequal. Each is co- eternal. It's an interesting subject the doctrine of the Trinity is. One theologian that embraces the Trinity, one theologian said it this way. He said, "You must believe the Trinity to be saved, or you will lose your soul." He said, "You must believe the Trinity to be saved, or you will lose your soul." And then he went on to say, "But if you attempt to understand the Trinity, you will lose your mind." I have often studied with precious Trinitarian people and precious and sincere as can be, but sincerely wrong. But I have studied with them and had some success and planted some seeds. But I've often studied with them until they get to a point and they simply say, "The doctrine of the Trinity is a mystery." It's it's a mystery. Nobody can understand. It's a It's a It's It's a mystery. Let's talk about the doctrine of the Trinity for for just a few moments. Uh you you do understand that even the term Trinity or triune, um the first time it was used or in record that we have, is a man by the name of Tertullian around 200 around 200 AD. A man by the name of Tertullian began to mention a Trinity the at 200 AD. Understand that the last book of the Bible that was written was written somewhere around 90 to 95 AD. From 90 to 95 AD, Tertullian mentions the word Trinity or hints to a triune God around the year of 200 AD. Which I want you to consider this. I want you to consider this be because nowhere in the Bible is the word Trinity. Nowhere in the Bible is the word Trinity mentioned. It's never mentioned one time in the Bible. Isn't it amazing? You should make note that the term didn't surface until almost 110 years after the last book in the Bible was written. I think that's noteworthy. 110 years later, Tertullian and others begin to get what they would refer to as a full revelation of God. Well, let let's go on. It would be in 325 AD. Now, imagine that, over 200 years, over close to close to 200 and uh 30 or 40 years, give or take. Listen, that's as old as almost as old as our country is. From the time you see, you can only have faith if you're a Bible believer. You can only have faith in the writings of the Bible. This book doesn't need an additive. This book is the only book that we know that holy men of God were moved by the Holy Ghost. That's the only book that we should go to to get our doctrine. It's not in in Some people say, "Well, the early church fathers taught this." When they start talking about the early church fathers, they're talking about religious leaders that begin to describe God 250 years after the last book in the Bible was written. Does that make sense? 325 AD. Convened in Constantine the Great addressed the debates about the nature of Jesus. It was Constantine that said, "We're We're going to solve this once and for all. Is Jesus divine? Is Jesus human?" And that was in 325 AD. It wasn't until Listen to this now. Put the map together. The last book in the Bible was written around 90 AD to 95 AD. It wasn't until the Council of Constantinople that was held in 338 AD. 338 AD. Almost 300 years was where the full doctrine of the Trinity, God the Father, who is a person. God the Son, who is a person. God the Holy Ghost, who is a person. All three are coequal. All three have the same amount of power. All three are eternal. That's where the doctrine was fully developed and the doctrine was fully presented. Now, many will say, "You go to the Bible and you do see where God was referred to as a father. And you do see where God was referred to as the Son. And you do see where God was referred to as the Holy Ghost." But simple logic should put it this way. If the Bible is a book about God, it's no different than a book being written about me or you. In the book, there would be a baby born. In the book, there would be a teenager. In the book, there would be a married man. In the book, there would be a father. In the book, there would be a grandfather. But you can't take all of those things that I have become and make several persons. For at the end of it, you got to admit they would only be one Stewart Seaton. They would only be one Kenny Carpenter. There wouldn't be seven or eight of us. There would just be one. There would just be one. Johnny James said it so good. He said, um you know, they talk about the Father and the Son, the Holy Ghost. And they make three separate persons out of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. But said, "Nobody teaches that when it comes to the devil." For the Bible says the devil is the father of lies. And the devil is the son of perdition. And the devil is the spirit of iniquity in the world today. But nobody's going around preaching on the devil head, right? Right? Nobody's going around >> >> And uh let me say this as we put the microscope Let's bring the microscope down on this doctrine. First and foremost, let's listen to Jesus Christ. No 381 AD. No 95. No No 205 AD. Let's listen to Jesus Christ in John 4:24. You ready for that? Let's listen to Jesus in John 4:24. Matter of fact, why don't we all read it together? God is Now, leave that verse up there cuz I'm going to show you something. What is God? Does he call him a person? God is a what? Spirit. And they that worship him must worship him. Look at that pronoun him. It's not them. It's him. Must worship him in spirit and in truth. Notice the wording. Please notice the wording. If there were plurality of persons in the Godhead, it should read them. But it doesn't. It says that they that worship him must worship him. Of that, you know, and if you really If you really separate the persons, if you If you go back to the to the three separate persons, God Father, God Son, God Holy Ghost, you would almost say there that God is a spirit, which I I would assume they're referring to the Holy Spirit. Right? And then if you read that the way that it would be divided, it would be to say that we are to worship the Holy Spirit. And I guess leave God the Son and God the Father out. There's a lot of complications that come when we don't look at the scripture through the microscope and see what it says. God is a spirit. That's I want you to focus on that. What is God, church? God is a spirit. Hebrews chapter 9, verse number 14. And I do apologize to those putting the scripture on the screen because I I didn't send my notes in to them this evening. So, Hebrews chapter 9 and verse number 14 reads like this. How much more shall the blood of Christ who through the eternal What? What is a spirit? The e- ternal spirit. Offer himself without spot to God purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God. If God is a spirit, in Hebrews 9:14 will let us know that God is a eternal spirit. Now, just a side note for you to write down, there is nowhere in your Bible that God that the Father is referred to as eternal. And there's nowhere in your Bible There's nowhere in your Bible that the Son is referred to as eternal. The only one that is referred to, if you divide it up, the only one is the eternal spirit. Now, the explanation is very plain. What makes God a father is creation. That's what makes God a father. He produced something. He He produced the earth. He produced human beings. And when he produced Genesis, when he spoke and the world was come into to be. Thus, God became the Father. He became the Father of creation. Now, the earth is not eternal. The earth is not eternal. It is that he is the Father of eternity. Now, if we could somehow try to stretch our minds into eternity, the earth is not eternal. So, therefore Therefore, God has an always been a father. He became a father or the Father of creation when he created. Are you Are you Are you getting this tonight? He He became the Father at at at creation. Just like you and I, every every every male in here at a certain at a time in your life, you you were not a father. But you you married and you you you you had a child. And that would make you That would make you a father. So, there's no word that it says eternal father. There's no word that it says eternal son. It's It's really hard. As a matter of fact, a lot of theologians A lot of theologians are studying and we may see it if the rapture doesn't come that they may present a new definition of the Trinity because they know that it's hard to explain how Jesus is both eternal and for begotten. All right? He is the only begotten of the Father. And it's hard to explain how begot begat. As a matter of fact, you need to be very careful in the translations you buy because some of the Sometimes you might think that we're just old fogies to hammer on the King James version, you know. Uh that's the It's a easy read over here. Well, you know what? It may be an easy slope. Because some of the translations say it this way, "For God so loved the world that he gave his unique son." He gave his one of a kind. Well, I I got news for you. That changes the meaning. He gave his only begotten. And and so, when we understand that God is a spirit, and it's only time it ever says eternal. Never says eternal father. Never says eternal son. And then let's go to 1 Timothy chapter 1 and verse number 17. Said, "All right if I run in this gear tonight." You know, preaching preaching can get something on you, but teaching can get something in you. Right? Right? Wouldn't you love to be able to witness about this? When somebody says, "Hey, what's the difference?" You You You You know more than just we dress different and we worship different and all that. You You can be able to say, "Well, let's start with God." That's That's really the place to start. Hebrews uh or excuse me, 1 Timothy chapter 1, verse 17 reads like this. Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. This God, this spirit, is not only eternal, but this spirit is invisible. It calls him the invisible spirit, the only wise God. Hebrews chapter 1, verse number 27. This spirit is eternal. This spirit is invisible. Hebrews 1:27. By faith, Moses forsook Egypt not fearing the wrath of the King. For he endured as seeing him who is invisible. And I'm so sorry. I I should have sent in I I know she don't have the last verse up. It was Hebrews chapter 1 and verse number 27. By faith, he forsook Egypt not fearing the wrath of the King. For he endured as seeing him who is is invisible is the scripture on the screen. All right? They It manifested itself in print. All right. Huh? See, that's my fault. Whoever you are back there tonight, $5 credit in the coffee shop at the church. All right? Brother Erickson will pay you for it. He'll This spirit is invisible. This spirit is eternal. But Psalms 139 and verse number seven. This spirit is omnipresent. It's omnipresent. The word omni means all. God is all present. He is all present. Psalms 139, verse seven. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I send up into heaven, thou art there. If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, there you are. There you would be. So, the God that we serve, he is spirit. The God that we serve is eternal. And the God that we serve is invisible. And the God that we serve is omnipresent. He's all present at all times. Jeremiah knew this. In Jeremiah 23:23, Jeremiah Listen to Jeremiah. Jeremiah 23:23. He says, "Am I a God at hand?" Listen to this. He said, "Am I only a God close to you? Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off? Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him, saith the Lord? Do not I fill heaven and earth, saith the Lord?" He's an omnipresent God. Oh, he instructs us in his word to have corporate worship. He instructs us in his word. That's why we're here tonight. He instructs us to have a corporate place of worship that we come. He says, "Forsake it not as you see the day approaching." There's strength There's strength in corporate worship. There is. But can I tell you that this is not the only PLACE WE CAN WORSHIP GOD? THIS IS NOT THE ONLY PLACE WE CAN GIVE GOD PRAISE. Give God thanks. He's ever present. Proverbs chapter 15 and verse 3, look at this one. Proverbs 15 and 3, "The eyes of the Lord are in what?" Where? Say most places? Every place. What's he doing? Beholding the evil and the good. He saw men and women today that damned his name. He saw men and women today in Blount County that used his name as a byword and a cuss word. But you know what he else saw? He saw about 7:00 people gathering in him and start worshiping and praising his name, magnifying his great name. So, he's He's omnipresent. This God this whose spirit this God who's invisible this God who's eternal this God who's omnipresent is also the God who's omnipotent. What does that mean? Omnipotent means all powerful. He has all power. There's no one stronger than our God. There's no one that heard Well, I thought I'd get an amen or two out of that one. I said, "There's no one stronger than our God." There's nothing stronger than our God. He's not almost all powerful. He is all powerful. He is not almost the almighty. He is the almighty. I I don't know why we wouldn't want to serve him. Because there's nothing down here on this earth as strong as death is, death is no match for our God. For our God was victorious over death, hell, and the grave, and our faith IN OUR ALMIGHTY GOD, IF death comes and seizes us one day, death's got to let hold of us, and we're going to be changed because he is the omnipotent. Listen to Genesis 17 and 1. And when Genesis 17 and 1, "And when Abram was 90 years old" Can I 90 90 and 9? Can I tell you you're never too old to learn more about God? Don't get Don't you Don't you let this Western culture convince you that when you turn 65 you're out. There's too many verses in the Bible talks about men their 70s, 80s, 90s, and men and women that that that were in that age group that God just kept on using and kept on But But as your faith is, so be it unto you. If you see 65 is out, just get ready. You're training your body that it's out. But I'm here to tell you you never get too old for God to reveal more of himself to you. He said in Genesis 17 and 1, look at this. "And when Abram was 90 years old and 9." Now, what do you want to tell a 99-year-old man? "The Lord appeared to Abram and said unto him" What he say to him? Read it. You can read like I do. What he say to him? "I am the what?" He say mighty? What does almighty mean? What's the difference between mighty and almighty? Well, mighty is mighty, but almighty is all over mighty. He's I believe God wants to talk to some 60-year-olds in here and some 70-year-olds and some 68-year-olds. And I believe he wants to knock on your window tonight and tell you, "Hey, I want you to know I don't care what you're going through. I am the almighty God. I I am the almighty." That's why you ought to lift your hands and praise him. That's why you ought to worship him. That's why you ought to serve him. That's why he needs to be more than a best friend. You ought to read his word daily. You ought to pray daily. You ought to be obedient to him. Come on, Prophet Jeremiah. Come on, Prophet Jeremiah chapter 32 of the book of Jeremiah verse number 17. Come on, you talked to Abram You talked to Abraham. Talk to Jeremiah. He's in the dungeon. Talk to Jeremiah. Jeremiah 32:17, "Ah, Lord God, behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee." He starts off with the word ah. That's a revelation. Oh, I see it now. Oh, I behold it now. Oh, I see Look Look at it again. Ah, Lord God, behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out and there is nothing too hard for thee. Church, please don't give up on miracles. I said, "Please don't give up on miracles." I don't want to pastor a group of people that have given up on miracles. God is a miracle-working God. He can do the impossible. He can split a red sea. He can keep a man from getting ate by hungry lions. He can keep three men safe in a fiery furnace. Come on. I GOT TO TELL YOU TONIGHT YOU NEED to start SPEAKING OVER YOUR PROBLEM, "I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES. I BELIEVE THAT MIRACLES CAN HAPPEN." >> >> He's the omnipotent. He's the omnipotent. He's the omni-present. And then He's the omnipotent. He's the omnipresent. But oh He's the omnipotent God. He's the omnipresent. He's the omnipresent God. And now He's the omniscient God. All knowing. All knowing. Our God is all present. Come on. What more would you need? I don't know about you, but my faith is being built tonight, and I'm the one preaching. What more do we need? When he's all present? What more do we need? When he's all powerful? TELL ME WHAT MORE WOULD WE NEED when he knows more than we do? I know that's a revelation to SOME OF YOU, BUT GOD KNOWS MORE THAN WE DO. HE'S THE OMNISCIENT GOD. HE'S THE ALL KNOWING GOD. HE KNOWS WHAT YOU CAN'T FIGURE OUT. HE KNOWS WHAT TOMORROW HOLDS. HE KNOWS. He knows he's the omniscient omniscient God. Romans 6 Romans 16:27. Romans 16 and verse 27. Wish we could read this together. Matter of fact, why don't we start reading it together? I'll start with the first word, then you finish it loud and distinctly, please. "To To God what? Only To God only wise." First Timothy 1:17, "Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible" Says it again, "The only wise God." Seem like they got in a vein here. The Jude 1 and 25. Jude 1 and 25. "To the only wise God our Savior be glory and majesty and dominion and power both now and forever. Amen." Can we just have a a worship break for a moment? First Apostolic Church family, what more do we need? When he's omnipresent? He's here right now. If you want to praise him, he's just a breath away. He's here right now, and if you want to worship him, he's just a breath away from you right now. He's in every pew. He's in everything. He's in the He He's in the the telecast room tonight. He's He's in the nursery. He's in the Sunday He's in the departments all over, and he's just a praise away. He's just a worship What What more would we need when HE'S OMNIPRESENT? WHAT MORE would we need when he's all powerful? What more would we need? When he's all knowing. Was the creation of the earth Was the creation of the earth that caused God to be the father of creation. Psalms 104:24 Oh Lord, how manifold are thy works. In wisdom hast thou made them all. The earth is full of thy wisdom. Proverbs 3, the earth is full of thy riches, excuse me. Proverbs 3:19 The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth. By understanding he hath established the heavens. Talk about an all knowing God. Think he did a pretty good job on this earth. No angels have had to come down to repair it. The sun hasn't burned out. It'll shine until he says for it not to shine. All these All these scriptures that speak about God and his wisdom how powerful he is. It's why we ought to have prayer life because God knows what we need. And you know when we don't get what we need, get your thumb out of your mouth. Because God just God is keeping you for the better. Get your thumb out of your mouth. Stop talking about your tithing and you've been coming to church and God let you down. God didn't let you down. God just didn't give you what you wanted. But if you can have enough trust in God and read these scriptures with me tonight and know that he's an all knowing God. He's an all knowing God. What more would we need? What more would we need? Let's look at Genesis chapter 1 for a moment, verse number 1. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. The earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep. Read the rest of that verse for me, would you please? What moved upon the face of the waters? Would you say it one more time so I know everybody. What what moved? Did the father move? Did the son move? What moved? Spirit of God. That same God is a spirit. Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, let there >> >> let there be light. And there was light. So this God, the spirit, spoke and he doesn't have to have vocal chords nor a tongue to speak. He spoke and said, let there be light and there was light. He spoke in Genesis chapter 1 and whatever he spoke, whatever he spoke, came into existence. Cause of Genesis 1, God is referred to as father. As father. Deuteronomy 32:6 Deuteronomy 32:6 Do you thus requite the Lord? Oh foolish people and unwise, is not he thy father that hath bought thee? Hath he not made made thee and established thee? Scripture establishes that God is our father. Throw this one in. Isaiah 64 verse number 8. Isaiah 64:8 But now, oh Lord, thou art our father. We are the clay. Thou art potter our potter. And we are all the work of thy hands. I go back to my opening text. Malachi 2:10, hath not one God, do we not have one father? Hath not one God created us? Now, let's go to Jesus Christ. Let's go to Jesus Christ. He's called and it's either one or it's either one or the other. It's not both. Jesus Christ is either the second person or he is God made known in the flesh. All right? He's the second person or God made known in flesh. Well, we know that he's God made known in the flesh. Why? Scripture tells us he's God manifested in the flesh. Let's read a little bit about him in prophecy. Let's read a little bit about him in prophecy. Isaiah chapter 7, verse number 14. Isaiah 7, this was hundreds of years before Bethlehem's manger. And it goes like this in Isaiah 7:14. Therefore, the Lord himself shall give you a sign. An indicator, a sign. Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Emmanuel. The virgin that conceives, which that's a whole different subject in itself. Virgins don't conceive because if they conceive, they're not a virgin. But God does a work to where a virgin a virgin conceives, bears a son and they call his name Emmanuel Emmanuel. We find out in Matthew 1 and verse 23, we find out at Bethlehem's manger. We find We find it out in Matthew 1:23 when the angel said to Joseph, behold, a virgin shall be with child and bring forth a son and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted it is, would you finish it for me? God who? God with us. So if there's only one God and this one God is a spirit, then that baby that was born in Bethlehem's manger, who is he? Who is this? Not the second person. Who is he? He is God. Imagine that's mind-blowing that in that manger, in that crib that animals ate out of, lay the creator of the universe that humbled and came down to this earth TO SAVE THE LIVES OF YOU AND I. WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE >> >> HE IS God with us. Let's see what he can do. The God of Genesis spoke nature. Let the waters He can The God of Genesis 1, check it out. The God of Genesis 1 controlled the waters. Let the waters be divided. Let the waters gather together. The God of Genesis 1 controlled the water. I got news for you. When God became flesh, he controlled water. What do you mean? He turned water into wine. What do you mean? He walked on the water. The God who created the water could control the water. He could take water and turn it into another another drink and bypass the system and bypass the process and he could also defy water that you and I would sink in, but God, the creator of water, could control water and he could walk on the water. What a God we serve. Not only that, the God of Genesis 1 is the God of nature. The God of Genesis 1 created the winds and the God of Genesis 1 created the rains and what have you, but the God with us, he also he also controlled the wind. For that night when they were about to go under in that sea and there was a mighty tempest of wind, he woke up, went to the bow that boat and commanded the wind to let still. Peace, be calm. Lay down. How can you do that? Well, you don't understand. I was the one that created the wind. I was the one that formed the wind and God has never created anything he can't step in and God can't control. And when the WIND WAS BLOWING, GOD MANIFESTED IN THE FLESH, stepped to the bow that boat AND HE SAID, "PEACE, BE STILL." >> >> Listen to this thing, you may be seated. I didn't I didn't I don't have this on my text tonight. But when he stepped to the bow of that boat, brother Martin, and I mean that boat just rocking back and forth and the wind is howling and blowing and it's just then they think they're going to die and he says, "Peace. Be still." And there was a great calm. You know what they said? He went to the back of the boat to go asleep go back to sleep. You know what they said? "What manner of man is this that even the wind and the sea obey his voice?" I'll tell you what manner of man he is. He's a man like no other man. Because he's 100% God and he's 100% man. He's not 33 and a half man God. HE'S 100% GOD. HE'S THE SAME OH. OH, HE'S THE SAME GOD. I BELIEVE THAT WORSHIP HIM IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH. HE'S THE SAME GOD. THIS GOD WHO CREATED FISH, this God who created soil and nutrients and wheat and bread, this same God that created fish, this same God that created bread, brother Nolan, the God of Genesis 1 who's the same God of the Gospels, can take a few fish and a few pieces of bread and look out at 25,000 people and say, "Come and dine. The Master calling." And he just breaks it and he keeps breaking and they keep eating and they keep eating and they keep eating and they all this and they they they just didn't get a couple of bites. He didn't say, "Hey, everybody just get one bite." It wasn't like a It wasn't like a church dinner where we ration out what you're going to eat, you know. It wasn't everybody just take a bite. I snuck that one in. It wasn't It wasn't It wasn't like here. It just tell everybody take a bite. Take a nibble. Take enough to get them home, but don't don't try to eat the whole thing. No, no, no. He just kept breaking and they kept eating and the Bible said, "And they were all filled." And when they're all filled and kind of left, he told the apostles, he said, "Get out there in the grass and pick up the fragments that nothing be lost." And when they got out in the field and started picking up the pieces of bread and the pieces of fish, guess what? There was 12 baskets full. What a mighty God that we serve. He's not only a God that created a fish, he's a God that can control a fish. Master, Master Jesus, taxes are due. It's April 15th. Taxes are due. We got to pay our taxes, Jesus. And Jesus said, "Go fishing." Now, in their mind they were probably thinking, you know, okay. But then he says, "And the first fish you catch, me and I'm not making this up. It's not It's not the old woman in the shoe. This is not Humpty Dumpty stuff here. All right? It's real stuff. He said, "The first fish you catch, open its mouth and said there'll be enough money in there to pay your taxes and mine, too." And then it's a greater miracle cuz the Bible said they put a hook They put a hook in the sea. Evidently, they put a hook in the sea. No bait on it. What a dumb fish. Ain't no bait on this hook. But I don't know how it happened. That's why we got to believe in miracles. I don't know how it happened. I don't know if Gabriel, I don't know if Michael, I don't one the angels put a scuba gear on and had some money in his hand went down there and caught a fish, opened it up, put the money in its mouth, closed it, and the disciples put a hook off, fish bites the hook, they pull it into the boat, open its mouth and they got enough money. Of course, you know, it'd have to be a big fish to pay the taxes nowadays. But there was enough There was enough There was enough money. I'm talking about miracles, PEOPLE. DO YOU KNOW I JUST BELIEVE that what we may need to resurrect our faith to believe in miracles is to go back AND STUDY THE ONE GOD OF THE BIBLE AND WHAT THE ONE GOD IN THE BIBLE DID. AND I BELIEVE OUR FAITH I DON'T I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU. IS THERE ANYBODY IN HERE YOUR FAITH IS GETTING built right now? >> >> Turn to your neighbor and say, "What's the difference?" What's the difference? I uh I I tell this story and and um Sunday morning we had a brother that brought a young man to church and I was privileged praying through to the Holy Ghost. And going home, the brother that brought him to church was telling him about baptism in Jesus' name. And he said, "Oh, I've been baptized." He said, "I I don't believe that there It's tomato to tomato. I don't believe there's any difference in you know in that." He said, "Let me ask you something." He said, "I belong to cer- cer- certain church." He said, "Let me ask you something." He said, "YOU EVER FELT God in your church like you did this Sunday morning in this place?" He said, "Well, no, to be honest with you, I've never felt God that way." He said, "That I'll tell you something. Can I tell you something? You cannot mimic the anointing. You can have Pentecostal forms of worship, but unless you embrace the one true and living God, there's an anointing that comes upon There's an anointing that come But why? They that worship me must worship me in spirit and in truth. I can't help but believe that God is pleased when he FINDS A GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT are accepting the word of God and saying, "You know what? They may call us crazy. They may call us heresy heresy. They may call us a lot of things, but I don't care what they call us. I want one day for God to call me gone. I want one day FOR GOD TO CALL ME A GOOD and a faithful servant." Could you give the Lord a hand of praise? >> >> He created the God of Genesis 1 created man. Therefore, the God of Genesis 1 not only created man, but he created the functions of man. He created the eyesight. He created the taste. He also created the hearing. No wonder he could put his fingers in the ear of a deaf person and they would begin to hear. He was the God that breathed life into the lump of clay, the silhouette. He breathed life into man. He spoke life into a lifeless lump of clay. And the lifeless lump of clay became human. If he could speak life into the clay and the clay would live, no wonder he could go to the tomb of Lazarus and speak life and the dead would come to life. Isn't he a wonderful God? Thomas, tell me what you call him. What do you call him, Thomas? John 20:28. Don't you love him tonight? Don't you love him tonight? John 20: 28. Thomas, what are you going to call him? And Thomas answered and said unto him, finish it for me. What do you call him? My Lord and my God. I guess I got to ask you tonight, who are you going to believe terminology? Men that walked with him? Men that slept by his side? Men that were in the boat? Men that saw Lazarus raised from the dead? A Thomas that saw him crucified and lost all of his faith with what he saw on the cross that he stopped gathering for a week with the disciples until the disciples told him, "Thomas, we have seen the Lord." Thomas said, "Except I could put my fingers in the holes of his hand and thrust my hand into the hole in his side, I will not believe." Eight days later, Thomas went to church with them and Jesus appeared through the door and Jesus said, "Thomas, here's my hands. Here's my side." And you know what Thomas said? He didn't say my second person. Who are we going to believe? 200 years later? Or are we going to believe the Bible? What did Thomas call him? My Lord and my God. And that Lord that he called him my Lord is the same Deuteronomy 6:4. Hear, oh Israel, THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE. YOU CAN'T have two ones. YOU CAN'T HAVE THREE ONES. YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE ONE. AND THAT'S THE WAY WE SERVE HIM TONIGHT. AND THAT'S THE WAY WE WORSHIP HIM TONIGHT. >> >> COME ON, THOMAS. TELL ME WHAT YOU CALL HIM. >> >> COME ON, PAUL. Why won't you stand? Won't you stand? You'll get out sooner if you stand. Could we sing that song again? How many like that song? It's all in him. It's all in him. The fullness of the is all in him. How many sang that song tonight by memory? How many could sing it by memory? But you know something? I watched a whole group of a youth choir that were staring a hole through the back wall. That's where the words were at. I think we ought to sing it till it gets in their heart. It's all IN HIM. IT'S ALL IN HIM. THE FULLNESS OF THE GODHEAD IS ALL IN HIM. THE MIGHTY GOD IS JESUS. THE PRINCE OF PEACE IS HE. THE EVERLASTING FATHER, THE KING ETERNALLY. What do you What do you so Because if we don't get this right, we won't get the name right. Cuz father's not a name, son's not a name, and Holy Ghost is not a name. THEY'RE ALL DESCRIPTIVE TITLES OF A ONE GOD, BUT THE NAME OF THE FATHER IS JESUS. THE NAME OF THE SON IS JESUS, AND THE NAME OF THE HOLY GHOST IS JESUS, AND ALL THESE THREE ARE >> >> And and and if we don't get the name right, you're not promised the Holy Ghost till you get baptized in his name. That's the book. Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, and you shall receive the Holy Ghost. Now, I know what some might say, "Well, I got the Holy Ghost before I was baptized." You got it on credit. You hear me? You got it on credit. But I believe you got the real Holy Ghost. The real Holy Ghost will lead you AND WILL GUIDE YOU into all truth. >> >> WHY IS IT A BIG DEAL? Because if you don't get him as one, you won't get his name right. And if you don't GET HIS NAME RIGHT, THERE'S NO FORGIVENESS AND REMISSION of sins. And if you don't get his name right, you don't get the Holy Ghost. WHAT'S SO BIG ABOUT THAT? IF YOU DON'T GET the Holy Ghost, you don't get the power to be an overcomer out of sin. It wasn't your good intentions. It wasn't YOUR TENACITY THAT BROKE that drug habit. IT WASN'T YOUR TENACITY THAT BROKE THAT NICOTINE HABIT. IT WASN'T YOUR TENACITY. My God. IT WASN'T YOUR TENACITY THAT BROKE THAT ALCOHOLISM. IT WAS THE HOLY GHOST. THAT'S WHY OH, YES. THAT'S WHY WE NEED We need THE HOLY GHOST. WE GOT TO HAVE THE HOLY GHOST. LORD, YOU GOING TO HAVE TO FORGIVE ME FOR A MOMENT. I THANK GOD FOR THE HOLY GHOST. I'M BLESSED BECAUSE OF HOLY GHOST. I GOT PEACE BECAUSE OF THE HOLY GHOST TONIGHT. Come on DOWN WORSHIP. COME ON DOWN WORSHIP. IT'S all in him. Yes. Yes. >> >> YEAH. YEAH. YEAH. YEAH. >> >> OH, YES. OH, YES. >> >> I said >> >> Yes, Lord. >> >> Don't you love him tonight? WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? >> >> I'M going to tell YOU WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IS. >> >> Sing it with all your heart. SING IT WITH ALL YOUR HEART. One more verse. >> >> Oh, yes. I love you, Lord. I love you, Lord. >> >> Oh, that's right. BROTHER AND SISTER COUCH, IT'S ALL in him. >> >> They drive over 70 miles to get here. It's all in him. >> >> Don't you feel it? >> >> We attended last night. We attended the homegoing celebration for Sister Joyce Fielden. And um Sister Joyce Fielden played a a major role in the early days of your pastor's wives at Carpenter. She played an early role in helping a young convert, Penny Bennett, with wise counsel and wise advice, and we drove at Jamie Ball's mother, or the Matthew Ball, our world missions director, it's his mother-in-law. And uh I didn't realize they they gave the testimony, both Sunny, her husband's still living, and he gave the testimony. He said when they first got married, he said they were they loved God. They They loved God. And please, I'm not I'm calling denominations, but I'm not I'm not in disrespect. I I I thank God for what you got, but I'd like to lead you to a little more. And she They Brother Sunny said, "We were in the Baptist church, and we served God >> >> to the best of our ability, but said we always knew there's some more for us." And some good Assembly of God person witnessed to them about the Holy Ghost. And they went to the Assembly of God church for several years. But Sunny said, "We just knew there was more." Somehow they stumbled into the doors at 5020 Pleasant Ridge Road. And it wasn't long. They opened their arms up to truth. They were baptized in his name. They saw the revelation of what I was teaching tonight. They saw that one God revelation. And Sunny said, "It was what we were looking for all the time." Said we were fully fully content. I'm going to tell you we won't be content till we get the truth. And there is more for you. It's not tick for tack. It's truth or error. It's not tick or It's It's truth or error. I'm going to close with this. Be mindful of your standing. As per Sister Carpenter tells me. You all seen that clip on social media. It's It's real. It's where a bunch of Christians in the Middle East that were carpenters, that were plumbers, that were the regular members of of a underground church in the Middle East. A radical group caught them and arrested them. And the video shows them in orange jumpsuits. And they're there by the ocean. If you've seen the the video, they're there by the ocean. And there's an executioner. And all these men have to do to escape death is to say that what they believe in Christianity is a lie, whatever form of religion that radical group had was truth. Just say it, you can walk away. But all of them began to talk about Jesus. And all of them lost their lives that day here. Let me say it this way. They lost their life here on earth. But they found it. I'm telling you that whole story to tell you this. That that executioner that cut all their heads off. There's a man in the Bible that was just as wicked. His name was Saul. He was a murderer of Christians. He murdered. He beat some of the early first century Christians. But he turned his life over to God. He turned his life over to God. Made one of the most powerful witnesses in our Bible. I want to close with this. Colossians 2:9 Paul tell me who Jesus is. Paul, I know that 300 years from now there'll be a popular doctrine that'll be accepted into the church. But Paul, would you TELL ME? PAUL, THERE'LL BE A DOCTRINE that says first, second, and third person. But Paul, would you tell me who Jesus is, Paul? I'll tell you who he is. FOR IN HIM DWELLETH ALL THE FULLNESS OF THE GODHEAD BODILY. WHO ARE WE going to believe, church? Brother Nave, who are we going to believe? WE GOING TO BELIEVE PAUL? WELL, the mighty God is Jesus. The prince of peace, says he. The everlasting Father, that he a wonderful >> >> wisdom by whom all things were The fullness of the Godhead in Jesus is displayed. Come on, bless that wonderful name of Jesus. Come on, bless that mighty God. Bless the mighty name of Jesus. Bless the mighty name of Jesus. The all powerful name It's the name of the creator, the redeemer, the spirit in the church today. His name is Jesus. We bless that wonderful name. Clap your hands just a little bit longer, a little louder. And somebody say yes. >> >> Are we thankful for not apostolic doctrine but Bible doctrine? This is not just a doctrine of this church. This is Bible doctrine this church believes. Amen. And I'm glad to be a part of the church of the living God. The God we know his name. God we can have a relationship with and I'm so glad we do. Be here, be back here Sunday morning. Going to have a great time of worship.
