Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Opening Text: Arise and Be Baptized

  • Opens by reading the words spoken to Paul on the Damascus road: arise and be baptized, washing away sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
  • Before the baptism teaching, he pauses to answer a question apostolics are often asked: is Jesus his own father?

Scriptures: Acts 22:16

Jesus Is the Visible Manifestation of the Father

  • Jesus told Philip that whoever has seen him has seen the Father — not mere resemblance, but the Father made visible.
  • “God was manifest in the flesh”: the mystery of godliness means God was made known in flesh and vindicated (justified) in the Spirit.
  • The resurrection silenced every critic: the Jesus who said “destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up” was declared the Son of God with power by rising from the dead.

Scriptures: John 14:7-9; 1 Timothy 3:16; Matthew 27:63; John 2:19; Romans 1:1-4; 1 Timothy 3:16

The Holy Ghost Is the Father of the Man Christ Jesus

  • Mary was told the Holy Ghost would come upon her and the power of the Highest overshadow her; therefore the child would be called the Son of God.
  • “Holy” describes God's character and “Spirit” his essence: God is a spirit, and a spirit does not have flesh and bones.
  • The invisible God became visible: Jesus is the image of the invisible God, the eternal, immortal, invisible King whom Moses endured by seeing.

Scriptures: Luke 1:34-35; John 4:24; Luke 24:36-43; Colossians 1:15; 1 Timothy 1:17; Hebrews 11:27

Holy, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Almighty

  • God alone is holy; there is none holy as the Lord, and no rock like our God.
  • His Spirit is everywhere — heaven, hell, and the uttermost parts of the sea.
  • The man Christ Jesus did not know the day or hour, but the Father does: the man was not all-knowing, while the God in the man is.
  • God introduces himself to Abraham as the Almighty God, and the glorified Christ declares himself Alpha and Omega, the Almighty.

Scriptures: Revelation 15:4; 1 Samuel 2:2; Psalm 139:7-10; Matthew 24:36; Mark 13:32; Genesis 17:1; Genesis 35:11; Revelation 1:8; Isaiah (book-only, as spoken)

Why We Believe What We Believe About Water Baptism

  • Matthew's account emphasizes the name: the commission says “in the name” (singular) of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost — titles, not names — and there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.
  • God gave Jesus the name above every name, at which every knee in heaven, earth, and under the earth must bow.
  • Mark's account emphasizes necessity: he that believes and is baptized shall be saved.
  • Baptism saves as Noah's ark saved: the eight souls were saved by water, and baptism is the answer of a good conscience toward God.
  • Luke's account emphasizes purpose: repentance and remission of sins preached in his name, beginning at Jerusalem — exactly what Peter preached in Acts 2 and what Paul himself was told.
  • John's witness is that these things were written so we might believe and have life through his name.

Scriptures: Matthew 28:18-19; Acts 4:12; Philippians 2:9-10; Acts 4:12; Mark 16:15-16; 1 Peter 3:20-21; Luke 24:47; Acts 2:37-38; Acts 22:16; John 20:30-31

Believing Is the First Step

  • Believing is essential, but believing and receiving are separate experiences; Paul's question — have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed? — would be absurd if they were a package deal.
  • He closes by calling believers to the altar to believe in the Almighty God.

acts chap 22 verse number 16 Paul is rehearsing his testimony he's telling how that the Damascus Road and now he goes to Acts 22:16 he's retelling it and he says that the preacher told him and now why terest thou what are you waiting on arise and be baptized and wash away thy sins call calling on the name of the Lord father tonight I thank you for your word father tonight I thank you for your presence I thank you for the privilege of of coming to your house of building our lives around your house God lord there's no greater place that I need to be but in your house around your people and around the truth that's being preached there's no greater place for my marriage there's no greater place for my children Lord tonight come down and anoint your servant Lord anoint me to teach your word tonight may we grow stronger through your word in Jesus name we pray amen amen you may be seated tonight thank you so much for standing in honor of the reading of God's word before we go forward with water baptism there is a question that I have been asked there is a question that I have been asked and quite um uh quite transparently uh a lot of apostolic people get asked this question and so I would I would like to take a few minutes I'd like to take a few minutes although I've introduced my subject but I would like to take a few minutes and answer this question all right and the the question the question is simply is Jesus his own father all right is Jesus his own father well let me let me answer that tonight let me Begin by going to a passage of scripture you see the scriptures teach us that Jesus is the visible manifestation of God or the father all right it means one and the same Jesus scripture teaches everybody say scripture teaches scripture teaches scripture teaches that Jesus is the visible manifestation of the father or or God either either one we find this in John 14 and 7 Jesus said in John 14:7 if you had known me you should have known my father also and from henceforth you know him and have seen him Philip saith unto him Lord show us the father and it saies us or satisfies us Jesus saith unto him have I been so long time with you and yet hast thou not known me Phillip he that has seen I don't care how you try to twist this I don't care how how you try to twist this uh I may my sister may tell you m my my sister may tell you uh as as a matter of fact if you never if you've never seen my mother you would understand that I I favor more of my mother if you have if you've never seen my father you would say that Kathy favors more of my Our Father she favors more of our father now in that sometimes people try to take this verse and say well you know like a son has the characteristics of his father that's what Jesus meant there that is not what Jesus meant there I may look like my mother but it would be uh it would be terrible for you to say well if you've seen me you've seen The Identical thing of my mother my mother may come up from the grave tonight and argue with that so it's not saying that Jesus had the characteristics it's saying point blank verse n Jesus saith unto him have I been so long time with you and yet hast thou not known me Phillip he that has seen me has seen the father how sayest thou then show us the father we believe what the scripture teach teaches that Jesus Christ is the visible the visible manifestation of the father or God whichever First Timothy chapter 3 and verse number 16 1 Timothy 3 and 16 Paul writes and he says and without controversy without controversy the subject that Paul is about to explain is without controversy now I'm going to tell you one of the reasons there's a lot of controversy is there's a lot of opinions all right you don't take your belief to the Bible to prove it you go to the Bible to get your belief and there's a lot of controversy in the religious world today because people are taking their thoughts their ideologies and they're going to the Bible and they're saying well well look at it from this angle I don't want to look at it from this angle I want to look at it from how it is written without controversy great is the mystery of godliness now um when we think of godliness I I think in a lot of of our minds we think of a phrase that goes with that and let me see if I'm right say Amen if this hits you too all right you know it's kind of like that little little game they play I'll mention the word tell me the first thing comes to your mind okay when I hear the word godliness I think of that old phrase cleanliness is next to was I am I the only warped one in the house tonight would you be honest raise your hand if you thought that too well there's a few more warp people here too all right the word godliness there simply means godlikeness god likeness is what it means it it means god likeness Paul said without controversy without debating without arguing great is the mystery of godlikeness all right now it's a mystery but it's a mystery that is revealed all right listen to this and without contr versy great is the mystery of God godliness godlikeness here it is God was manifest In the Flesh the word manifest means to make known God was manifested in the flesh he was made known in the flesh justified in the spirit now this is this word Justified here the word the word Justified means to declare to pronounce one to be just one to be righteous or such as he ought to be justified in the spirit I want you to get this tonight when God became a man and was born of the Virgin Mary religious people the religious sect that did not accept him because he did not accept their hypocritical ways and he exposed them you see they wouldn't allow they wouldn't allow a sick person to be healed on the Sabbath day but they would go to out and get an ox out of the ditch on the sabath day so he he he he revealed their hypocrisy and because of that they hated him they hated him and they had all kind of rumors to say about him they rumored about him that Mary it wasn't a it wasn't it wasn't that God overshadowed Mary it was that Mary committed fornication that Jesus was actually the product of fornication they they they had that rumor about him they they rumored that around well not only that when Jesus when Jesus rose again from the dead the guards went into town the guards went into town and they told them what what happened earthquake an angel Stone rolled away he's resurrected and in Matthew 27 verse 63 here they stand here these guards stand or wait excuse me let me let me get this correct while he's in the Tomb while he's in the Tomb I got ahead of myself while he's in the Tomb the religious people that put him in the Tomb came to Pilot in Matthew 2763 here's what they said saying sir we remember that that deceiver said while he was yet alive after 3 days I will rise again now they come and they said we got to seal up that tomb because he's a deceiver can do do you see what they were calling him do you see what they were calling him but do you know that justified in the spirit means the resurrection when he was resurrected from the grave it silenced every mouth of every critic when he came walking out of that grave every rumor that was ever said about him was put to silence because he came out of that grave Jesus said in John 2:19 in John chapter 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them destroy this Temple and in three days I will raise it up then said the Jews for 40 and6 years was this temple in building and wil thou rear it up in 3 days but this spake but he spake of the Temple of his body where when therefore he was risen from the dead his disciples remembered that he had said unto them and they believed the scripture and the word which Jesus had said can I tell you there's Wonder workking power in the resurrection let's give when we're coming up on that season of the Resurrection I want you to know had there not been a resurrection there would Jesus would have not be would not have been who he claimed to be but because of the Resurrection it puts to silence all the critics of all the things they said Paul begins his book in Romans chapter 1 verse number four or excuse me verse number one Paul said Paul a servant of Jesus Christ called to be an apostle separated the unto the gospel of God which he had promised before By His prophets in the Holy scriptures remember that word keeps coming up concerning his son Jesus Christ Our Lord notice this dual nature which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh that's his human that's the human side and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the spirit of Holiness by the resurrection from the dead the resurrection put to silence and I go back I go back he was manifest In the Flesh God was manifest In the Flesh 1 Timothy 3:16 God was manifest In the Flesh justified in the spirit that's the resurrection seene of angels that was at his resurrection preached to the Gentiles that's when he preached to the Samaritans believed on in the world and received up into Glory who was Jesus was and Jesus Is God would you give him a hand of Praise right now now is Jesus his own father you may be asked let me answer that the man Christ Jesus is not his own father all right when you say is Jesus his own father let me tell you who his father let me tell you who his father is Luke 1 and verse number 34 Luke 1 and verse 34 then said Mary unto the angel how shall this be seeing I know not a man the Angels talking about she's going to give birth and Mary in verse in verse 34 Mary plainly asked the angel how shall this be seeing I don't know or haven't known a man here's the explanation the angel answered and said unto her the Holy Ghost shall come upon thee the power of the highest shall overshadow thee therefore also that Holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called The Son of God the answer is the Holy Ghost is the father of the man Christ Jesus the Holy Ghost is the father now the word holy I want you to follow this is an adjective which can be used to describe the qualities of someone or something independently or in comparison of something else it's an adjective it holy is an adjective it describes it describes an adjective can be something like this that old or I like old houses old is an adjective all right so holy is Holy is an adjective it is something that describes the character of God God is Holy the word ghost or Spirit whichever you want to use is a noun God is Holy by his character and he is Spirit by his essence or by his being thus he is God is the holy that's describing him the Holy Ghost now if you were living in the first century you would understand that so simple but we're living in the 21st century and many of you and many of us have been trained that the Holy Ghost is a separate person than the father and a separate person than the son son and we have to have a revelation to understand who is the father of Jesus it's plain and simple the Holy Ghost is the Father the Holy Ghost is the father of Jesus John 4:24 listen did Jesus give the description John 4:24 I wish you'd say the first four words of that verse there it would really it would really sink deep in if you heard yourself say the first four words I'll begin God what is God Spirit God is a spirit they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth God is a spirit now go with me to Luke 24:36 now Jesus has not only told you that God is a spirit he's going to tell you he is going to tell you what a spirit is like Jesus has a been crucified has been placed in the Tomb has resurrected and has and has showed himself to his disciples verse 36 and as they thus spake Jesus himself stood in the midst of them and saith unto them peace be unto you and they were terrified and a frightened and supposed that they had seen a what a spirit they were terrified and AF frighten ened they watched him crucified they watched him plac in the grave and the next thing they see is 3 days later he appears in the room they're terrified and they're AF frightened because they believe they have seen a spirit verse 38 and he said unto them why are you troubled and why do thoughts arise in your hearts behold my hands and my feet that it is I myself hand me and see for a spirit hath not Flesh and Bones as you see me have stop there God is a spirit he has not Flesh and Bones he is a spirit Jesus is saying you think you're seeing a spirit go ahead here's my hands here's my feet handle me and see and when he had thus spoken he showed them them his hands and feet he showed them his hands and feet and while they yet believed not for joy and wondered he said unto them have ye any have ye here any meat and they gave him a piece of Broad Fish I guess he's on a good diet he gave him a piece of Broad Fish and honeycomb and he took it and did eat listen a lot of people want to know what we're going to be like in heaven we're not going to be some kind of wispy clouds moving around we're going to be like Jesus and there's gonna be some eating in Heaven Can you say amen amen don't get to think we're going to just be a bunch of wispy clouds clashing with each other we're going to have a glorified body and the only difference between what we got now and what we'll get then what we got now is going to die what we got now is still under the penalty of sin but there's coming a day that he's going to change his Ile body like under his b body it'll never grow old it'll never grow sick it'll never die Jesus Jesus is the image of the invisible God who by nature is Spirit Colossians 1:15 who is the image of the invisible God the firstborn of every creature 1 Timothy 1:17 now under the king Eternal Immortal invisible the only wise God be honor and Glory forever and ever amen Hebrews 1127 by faith Moses forsook Egypt not fearing the Wrath of the king for he endured as seeing him who is invisible God is a spirit and he is an invisible Spirit to the human eye but when God became a man he became visible that we could Behold Him that we could see him God is holy God is Holy Revelation 15 and4 Revelation 15 and4 who shall not fear thee Oh Lord and glorify thy name for thou only art holy for all nations shall come and worship before thee for thy judgments are made manifest God you are holy God you are a spirit put them together and you have the Holy Spirit not the third person that that that that's something that came hundreds of years later when man was taking his ideologies and philosophies to the Bible First Samuel 2 and 2 listen to Samuel boast there is none holy there is none holy as the Lord for there is none beside thee neither is there any Rock like our Rock Holiness is AB ascribed to God he is Holy now this God who is spirit and we keep driving this home this God who is Spirit in Psalms chapter 1 139 in verse number 7 Psalms 139:7 David cries out whether shall I go from thy Spirit or whether shall I flee from thy presence David said where could I go to get away from your spirit where could I go to get away from your presence well let's see if I Ascend up into heaven th th art there if I make my bed in hell that's the grave behold Thou Art there if I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea even there shall thine hand lead me and thy right hand shall hold me let me tell you God is a spirit and God is Holy and God is Omni everpresent God is ever present where is God well you'd have a better chance of telling me where God isn't God is Omni God is Omni present not only that the contrast between sister Carpenter the contrast between Jesus the man the son of man flesh and Jesus the son of God deity can be found here Matthew 24 and: 36 six Jesus speaking about the last day the end of time he says but of that hour day and hour knoweth no man no man knows that day nor that hour no not the angels of heaven but my father what's the last word my father only has this knowledge well let me show you in Mark Mark brings it out a little bit more powerful in Mark 13:32 Mark describes the same thing but in Mark 13:32 Jesus said but of that day and that hour knoweth no man no not the Angels which are in heaven neither the son but the Father the man Christ Jesus testified that he didn't know that day nor that hour because the man was not all knowing but the God that was in that man was all knowing he's all knowing not only that God is Not only a spirit that's omnipresent and God is Not only omniscient which means all knowing every invention that's ever happened God already knew it was there they didn't invent they discovered CED God already knew that it was there God already knew that there could be something created such as an airplane that could fly through the skies God already knew that don't clap too hard for the right Brothers God already knew that because God God is all knowing do you know that do you know that for years Sailors on the Open Sea had a fear they had a fear what was the fear sailing off the edge of the Earth they believed in that day textbooks said the Earth was flat and it was literally some of them said it was held up by big four pillars well if it was flat and held up by four big pillars what were the pillars held upon it and it just goes on and on and on but had they just read the Bible had they just read the Bible they would have read Isaiah said I am he that sth upon the circle of the earth be later on on that man would discover the Earth wasn't flat at all that it was a circle shape matter of fact if they could have read the Bible George Washington our first president may have lived a little longer you know why George Washington got pneumonia and there was a medical practice of that day that they believed if you got real sick that your blood was bad and that they would cut you brother Elijah they would cut you and they would would do blood letting they would let blood drip from your arm and they beli that they could get the BL bad blood out of you that that that you would get better do you know they were killing them oh if they could just read the Bible and understood the Bible said for the life life of the flesh is where it's in the blood and there's a number there's just a number of things that the Bible would speak about God is all knowing but God is Not only omnipresent and God is not only all knowing god is all powerful God is all powerful Genesis 17 And1 look at the word here and when Abraham was 90 years and nine the Lord appeared to Abram and said unto him what an introduction Church what an introduction I am the almighty God what a way to introduce yourself I am the almighty God walk before me and be thou perfect Genesis 35 And1 and God said I am God Almighty be fruitful and multiply a nation and a company of Nations shall be of thee and Kings shall come out of thee have you noticed those two verses God introduces himself as the almighty God and then he tells us why don't you live like it why don't we live like we serve the almighty God you don't have to answer the way I want you to answer God I just need to keep my faith in in the almighty God I don't care how bad things are going I'm just going to keep my faith in the almighty God he is the almighty God he introduces himself I am the almighty God walk before me oh thank you Lord now I love Revelation chapter 1 verse number8 Jesus the glorified Christ he says I am the Alpha and the Omega the beginning and the ending sayeth the Lord which is which was and which is to come the what the all the almighty so I want to take a little time tonight matter of fact I've taken a lot of time tonight and just tell you the next time somebody says well you apostolics believe that Jesus was his own father stop them right there and say we don't believe that Jesus is his own father we believe the Holy Ghost is the father of Jesus and then just take off from there it it's it's it's it's the Bible all right why we believe what we believe about water baptism let's go to A A A Familiar verse Matthew chapter 28 and verse number 18 Jesus is about it's always good it's always good when you study a scripture uh to use a simple little bible school technique who is speaking who is being spoken to and what are they speaking about all right you might want to write that down if you really want to understand the Bible use this who is speaking who's being spoken to and what are they speaking about all right that'll that'll really help you to understand all right Jesus is commissioning the the apostles to go into all the world and preach the gospel all right and he's about to ascend into heaven and he's talking to the disciples and he's commissioning them to go into all the world all right now please follow this please follow this no one is being baptized here here this is not a baptismal service he is commissioning them Jesus came Verse 18 and spake unto them saying all power is given unto me in heaven and in Earth go ye therefore and teach All Nations baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Ghost now Jesus is speaking he is speaking to his disciples and he is talking about going into all the world and preaching the gospel and baptizing nobody is being baptized now let me tell you what Jesus isn't saying here he isn't saying here he isn't saying repeat after me all right he's not saying when you baptize repeat these words he is saying go into the world and preach the gospel and teach All Nations baptizing that word there means to immerse submerge under the water baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Ghost please notice this it does not read name of the father name of the son and name of the Holy Ghost why Father's not a name name son is not a name and Holy Ghost is not a name it is descriptive titles of one God that is calling for a name it's calling for a name not calling to be repeated for example if I said and there's a bottle of water beside you Lauren if I said if I said Lauren bring me that bottle of water and she says back to me Lauren bring me that bottle of water has Lauren done what I've asked or has she just repeated what I asked she just repeated it would not be and I I'll spare you all right we'll say by faith you got up oh let's have some fun Lauren bring me water come up here and hug me behave yourself I've already got water Nolan come get this water Jesus wasn't saying repeat after me nowhere in your Bible will you find anyone being baptized with the baptizer repeating the words father Son and Holy Ghost now you may sit there tonight and you may be nodding off like boy this is just not relevant it sure is relevant it sure is relevant because there's not power in any other name there's none other name acts 4 and12 there's no other name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved I don't read where God bless his good intentions but I do read where God blesses obedience well well it's really not a big deal it's really not a big deal well if it's really not a big deal why don't we do it the Bible Way it's really it's really a big deal Matthew emphasizes the name everybody say the name Matthew emphasizes the name Philippians 2 and9 Philippians 2:9 says wherefore God also hath highly exalted him talking about Jesus and given him a name Let's do let's do a little participation here who gave Jesus the name who had the name I mean if you give something who has it God had the name who did he give the name to Jesus God ha highly exalted him and given him a name which is above father son Holy Ghost are not names they are descriptive titles but I would put it on the table for discussion let's say that Father Son and Holy Ghost are names we know they're not but let's just for for a good for a good uh U discussion let's say they are Jesus would Trump them I'm not talking politics either Jesus I'm sorry because the Bible said Heath given him a name which is what come on now which is what above every name that at the name of every knee should bow of things in heaven Angels bow at the name of Jesus and things in Earth that's us we bow at the name of Jesus we reverence the name of Jesus and things under the Earth that's the Demonic world he says at the name of Jesus Angels stop and have to bow the knee at the name of Jesus the redeemed of the Lord that are First Apostolic tonight give praise and honor and glory and at the name of Jesus demonic Powers have to stand by oh why don't we use that name I am the Lord God Almighty Hallelujah acts 4 and12 I quoted it but let me read it acts 4 12 neither is their salvation in any other for there is none other name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved Matthew emphasize the name Mark 16 and 15 Mark looks at it from a different angle in Mark 16:15 Mark records these words and he said to them go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to Every Creature he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved but he that believeth not shall be damned Matthew's gospel emphasizes the necessity of baptism Mark you see in a courtroom in a courtroom many facts are established by multiple Witnesses is they'll have one witness that can put a man at a certain place they'll have another witness that can have the man going in the building they'll have another witness here and they use all the witnesses to establish a fact Matthew I call him to the witness stand he emphasizes the name Mark I called him to the witness stand he emphasizes the necessity Mark said he that believeth 16 and is baptized shall be saved but modern religion today you know as well as I do they've Rewritten this and it goes something like this he that believeth is saved and should be baptized but it doesn't read like that he that believeth and is baptized shall it's a necessity shall be saved but he that believeth not shall be damned but get ready for this this there will be those that will say ah preacher but it doesn't say it doesn't say and is not baptized shall be damned well it doesn't have to say that if you don't believe it wouldn't matter how many times you were baptized see you don't have to add that Mark emphasizes the necessity I read it tonight I read it tonight in my opening text water bap baptism in First Peter chapter number three and verse number 20 Peter Likens water baptism to Noah's Ark if you were alive in the days of Noah's Ark how important was it to be on the ark come on if you want to live what if you want to live what do you want to be on so would you could we get a vote here tonight that it would be essential I mean let's just look at this on the ark you're saved not on the ark you're drown right isn't it amazing he uses this in water baptism he says in verse 20 which sometime were disobedient when Once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah while the ark was a preparing where in few that his eight Souls were saved by what water verse 20 verse 21 the like figure what is the like figure what are we talking about here we're talking about water right they were saved by what saved from what corruption right they were saved from Corruption of the World by water how's that they built the vessel by The Obedience of God they built something because God told them to build it and they built it the way that God told them to build it and when the water came the water separated them from destruction of the corruption of of Sinners it it saved them the light figure oh I want you to see this now the light figure were unto even baptism do also now does what to us save us not the putting away of the filth of the flesh but the answer of a good conscience toward God by the resurrection of Jesus Christ it is it is it is essential it is essential why is why is it why is it essential why is it essential because what it does Luke 24 it's not just the ACT it's what it does Luke 24:47 listen to Jesus Jesus tells the apostles and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations beginning at Jerusalem Jesus said at Jerusalem repentance is going to be preached and remission of sins those are two separate things repentance and remission of sins in his name and it's going to be among all nations beginning beginning at Jerusalem Luke's gospel emphasizes the purpose of baptism for the remission of sins that remission that repentance and remission of sins should be preached at Jerusalem Luke emphasizes the the the purpose of it it is to remit our sins Matthew establishes the name Mark establishes the necessity and Luke tells you what it does it is for the remission of sins the noted the noted listen to this now the the noted theer Greek Lexicon revered and respected among all denominations of Scholars theer's Greek Lexicon says that the word remission means release as from bondage as from imprisonment it means forgiveness pardon of sins it means to let them go as if they had not been been committed so when we are baptized in Jesus name please don't be at the door you're living far Beneath Your Privilege it's not to show an outward sign of inward faith when you are baptized in water in the name of Jesus it is for the remission the release as if they had never been committed sins that have been repented over notice Jesus said at Jerusalem there would be repentance and remission of sins that would begin to be preached no wonder Peter in Acts chap 2:37 after he preached the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ the Bible said when they heard this verse 37 when they heard this they were pricked in their heart and said unto Peter and to the rest of the Apostles men and Brethren what shall we do then Peter said unto them repent and be baptize every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost where is Peter preaching at Jerusalem what is he preaching repentance and remission of sins in the name of Jesus Christ Paul gives his testimony later you can talk about the bright light knocking him off his Beast if you want to that's wonderful that's wonderful but he still has his Sins Not remitted oh he had he had a he got knocked off the Beast and talked to Jesus Lord who art thou I am Jesus whom you persecute but his sins are still not remitted it would not be until ananas came and laid hands on him and he received the Holy Ghost that Cornel that that ananas something happened Paul recorded it in Act 22:16 acts in 22:16 ananas said to him and now why terest thou what are you waiting on thank God you got knocked off the Beast and saw a bright light thank God you spoke to Jesus I wonderful for all those experience but until you are immersed in water in the name of the one who died for you you are still in your sin you haven't re received the release you haven't received the release from bondage imprisonment forgiveness pardon of sins you have not lived the life as if they never happened can I tell you I can't explain it I have the memory of sins that I committed before I was baptized in Jesus name but I'll tell you what I don't have I don't have the guilt that is associated with those sins before I got baptized I hung my head when I went around some people because I did them wrong I I I did things I ought not to do but once I got baptized in that wonderful name of Jesus I received the release I rece as though they had never happened oh would you stand with me tonight I'm not going to get finished I'll just take back up next Wednesday night on water baptism and and maybe I maybe next Wednesday night I I'll um I'll I'll say something about the Holy Ghost want to talk about why we receive the Holy Ghost and then we'll spend the majority of it on baptism and then we'll go a little bit in why we receive the Holy Ghost Matthew covered the name Mark covered the necessity Luke covered the purpose John where you at where you at John well John simply says in John 20 and verse 30 and I believe we do have one to baptize tonight yeah I heard somebody say that thank God is that wonderful come on John what are you going to say about it well here's what John says in John 20 and verse 30 John simply says this and many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples which are not written in this book but these are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ the son of God and that believing you might have life through his name Matthew stepped up and he said brother sikata it's the name Mark stepped up and said brother Perry it's essential Luke the good old doctor you know doctors going to tell you things Luke the good old doctor said it's for the remission the release of your sins John just steps back and says he did all these things that we would believe and have life through his name can I tell you tonight believing is the first step for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him brother Ron my Bible study tonight we studied this out we studied this out believing is a wonderful thing believing is so essential you have to believe that he is and that he is you you you never you'd never repent if you didn't believe you'd never be baptized if you didn't believe you'd never receive things from God if you didn't believe but don't allow someone to tell you that once you believe Upon Jesus Christ it's a package deal it's a package deal you get it all at the moment you believe upon him can I tell you once again that's man taking his beliefs to the Bible Paul came Paul found a bunch of men that believed and he asked a question in Acts 19 have you received the the Holy Ghost since you believe now if believing and receiving was a package deal Paul asked an absurd question but the truth the biblical truth church is believing is a separate experience from receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost but you'll never receive that gift if you don't first believe how many Believers we got in the house tonight oh can we just come around the altars tonight and believe in God right now can we just come around the altars and worship a God that we believe in tonight a god almighty God An Almighty God oh you are the Lord God Almighty oh God I'm so limited in my ways God I'm so limited in my resources come on could we gather around this Altar and believe in a God that's the almighty God tonight
