well hopefully i can live up to that introduction what a joy it is to be in the house of the lord on a sunday morning i can't tell you the expectancy that i have in my spirit um for what the lord is gonna do today and i just happen to believe that the lord is gonna just do a multiplicity of works i don't want to limit god i want to let him and i'll tell you how i feel about this morning's service um you don't know me yet but um we're just going to have a little story time for a second i'd been uh i had been ministering all week at a youth camp and i was going to the airport to go to my next destination and so they dropped me off i go through security and it was an ordeal we get to our gate and we are notified that our plane has left without us you thought you sanctified and filled with the spirit until you get the notification that your plane has left you and so i just sit down i'm trying to be diplomatic people are screaming they are losing their mind and so i've got this inner faith and optimism and so i'm just i think i can maybe use my persuasion or charm or southern kindness or something i just my stubbornness will not let me take no for an answer and so i'm negotiating with the guy at the desk and obviously to to no avail and so now i've got to call my friend he picks me back up and of course my bag made it of course and so he picked me back up and my whole world is just discombobulated and disarray i almost let out an old testament cuss word if i'm just just tbh just just confessed and i didn't um and so he's got to pick me back up he's like well i guess you're here tomorrow and so they get me a hotel i'm at a different church i've got to call the church in california that i'm supposed to be at and let them know your boy ain't coming and uh it just is it's what you'd call the struggle bus and so i'm at my hotel and in the in the franticness of all of it he just took me to my new hotel and everything was great but your boy was hungry and so it's all right he forgot about it i was just glad he picked me up again and so i decided i was going to do the millennial thing and i was going to doordash chick-fil-a saw outdoor dash chick-fil-a got the notification that chick-fil-a was at my door went to the door no chick-fil-a you're poor is stubborn and so i decided i was going to do it again would you believe it if i told you i door dashed a second time got the notification went to the door no chick-fil-a yo do y'all want to hear the rest of this story okay i get insecure when people bail on my story so i call i call i call it's not it's actually doordash so i call doordash i mean i'm doing the customer service hotline i get connected with my driver i say hey bro you done came to my door you done dash ain't no food he said man i'm on my next assignment i set up no worries lord bless you in jesus name may the grace of our father be with you the rest of your days so i decided to doordash again and then i get the notification that it is now 9 30 and chick-fil-a can no longer deliver [Music] food and so now i'm standing in the lobby salty tears are coming out of my left eye forming a puddle it's awkward but your boy's world is falling apart and that's when i looked outside the door and i saw across the street and what did i see i appreciate the optimism but i didn't i didn't see the chick-fil-a whoever said that though that's who you want praying for you i appreciate that faith no no i saw another hotel and i thought what are the odds so i took a vote between me myself and i it was unanimous we went across the street i went into the elevator went to the third floor went to room 341 and my chick-fil-a was at the door [Music] oh y'all don't know my testimony so i looked at look to the right make sure nobody was watching making sure there was no security uh cameras because if this is in texas you're about to get shot and uh y'all may be a little bit more docile in tennessee i don't know yet but i already have my little pre-package line if they were to have opened that door i was ready this is your room but this ain't your food and so i just i just i just waited i didn't hear anything and so i just i snatched the chick-fil-a went back to my room god is good now i got a testimony [Music] but what i would like to see is that happen today in the spirit i'd like to see somebody get their hands on what is rightfully theirs i'd like to see a mother a father with some tenacity i'd like to i'd like to see an elder i know it's back to school sunday i'd like to see a 12 year old an 18 year old just get a little boldness that would blow up in their spirit and say i don't care if i never got it it's mine i don't care if i had it and i lost it it's mine i will lay hold off i will take more earnest heed to that which is mine that's what i want to happen today i want to take your attention to the book of matthew the book of matthew chapter 8 verse 22 the book of matthew chapter 8 verse 22 i give such high honor and esteem to your leadership so grateful for your bishop and your pastoral family and all of those that are responsible or irresponsible for having me today and i'm so grateful and uh what a treat um i did get to follow from afar the concert on friday i wish i could have been here kudos to brother dong and sister chloe and sister brooke and um i'm so grateful for the um ministries of music and song a little bitter they didn't ask me to sing today but i'll get over it i will get over it matthew 8 22 but jesus said unto him follow me and let the dead bury their dead and when jesus was entered into a ship his disciples followed him and behold there arose a great storm and so much that the ship was covered in the waves but jesus was snoozing his disciples came to him and awoke him saying lord we're about to die maybe just maybe you might have time to save us and he said unto them why are you fearful oh ye of little faith oh jesus savage so then he arose he yawned cracked its back and rebuked the winds that's that's what it means in the greek if you're not a scholar so then he arose he yawned cracked its back rebuked the wind and the sea and where there was a great storm now there is a great cone because heaven will never be outmatched by hell the agenda of satanic forces always have to yield to the authority of jesus and his kingdom and so the men marvel saying what manner of man is this yo this man legit even the wind and the sea obey him and when he was come to the other side into the countries of gadara geracin decapolis there met him too possessed with devils coming out of the tombs exceeding fierce so that no man might pass that way but there's a higher jurisdiction and so by the help of god's spirit i want to preach to you on this simple subject cloudy with a chance of rain cloudy with a chance of rain i want you to put down your bible your ipad your iphone and i want you to lift up your hands one more time in this house god i thank you for your power come on would you lift your voice with me i believe in your prayer god i thank you for this body of believers i thank you for this family of faith i pray that my mouth would be your megaphone i pray that the angels of the lord would minister to the years of salvation today i pray that the best gifts would be in operation i pray that you would do what only you can get credit for today i thank you for doing exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or compute in jesus name let it be so somebody say in jesus name somebody say in jesus name somebody shout in jesus name if you believe that prayer i want you to clap your hands into the lord as loud as you have all service [Applause] can i ask you just to do it ten more seconds come on could you just send the signal to the spirit world oh somebody ought to let heaven know that you made it today somebody ought to let hell know you have arrived you are on location come on i beg you just to do it 10 more seconds it's more than going through the motions it's more than an ovation it's more than hype something can shift in oh there it is something can shift [Music] turn to your neighbor and tell them cloudy with a chance of rain today jesus would look at another potential follower and he would declare to them let the dead bury their dead this is followed by another command to the bros today we are going into the deep and we are going to the other side letting you and i know on this sunday morning in 2022 that if you are going to go into the deep you are going to have to leave some dead things behind you and there is a generation that has an insatiable hunger for the deep we we don't even fully understand all the callings that god is allowing to go forth throughout generation to generation deep is calling to deep you can't always articulate it you can't always quantify it with words all you know is that there is something pulsating on the inside of you there is something yearning for more there is a world that is sick and tired of dead hollow religion there is a generation that is they are not satisfied with this north american check-in check out religiosity it is dead it is dormant it is hollow it is shallow but there is something on the inside of them that is saying i don't understand it but there is a beckoning there is an invitation there is an opportunity for me to rsvp for deeper things so it is that jesus is saying a simple sentence but the context in which he says it unpacks it to where we understand there is something more at work jesus is looking at them and he is telling them today we are going to the other side now you have to understand that they can make their journey by foot they can they can walk and they can circumnavigate they can they can go around the sea of galilee and they can make it to their same destination but jesus says no i'm demanding that you come into the deep god is not going to give you the luxury to circle around prayer to circle around fasting to circle around consecration god is not going to allow you to circle around what you are supposed to come into he says no i'm inviting you into this not around it and so it is that they are looking at jesus now you have to understand most of his ministry has been done in capernaum and the seda and corazon but today he says we're going to decapolis the land of the cast out ones the one the one where vileness runs rampant the one that that place where where it is it's the it's the capital of wickedness and and and seduction and and and and it's it's secular and and it's it's not where they would have normally went no doubt in their jewish upbringing mom would have said hey yo you can go play with your cousins in bethsaida you can go to courts in you can you can i'll let you go to capernaum if you text every 10 minutes but boy if i ever find out you went to decapolis i'm gonna your mom ever just paused right there she kind of forgot what she's gonna do you just knew she would do it when she remembered i'm gonna i'm gonna just know i'm gonna do it don't you ever let mama find out you went to decapolis there there's probably a hesitancy did my man really say we're going to get there we're going to garrison uh that that's what he said hey jesus maybe just maybe maybe we should just [Music] no we're going to decapolis now furthermore he's speaking to fishermen these are not sailors they do most of their business in the shallows and even you you they've got this great respect for the deep the abyss because of the genesis account and so today jesus is is is messing up their protocol and messing up their routine and now they are plopped in the middle of the sea of galilee and of course it's raining and jesus is asleep the rabbi is snoozing and so they're finding themselves in this topsy-turvy environment it's unstable it's it's they shouldn't we just should have seen on the shore it's amazing how you'll talk when you don't think jesus is listening i'm telling you i'm telling i wouldn't want to see it on the shore but i didn't think this was why didn't you just say it well i just want to be submitted to the rabbi well you know what we could turn he's asleep we could turn this boat around and we could but now we're about to die we just let things escalate hey um um hey yo yo jesus hey yo yo jesus yo yo and now they find themselves in the middle of a great storm i need some bros can you can y'all be my bros can you all be my disciples i'll get up here y'all get up here y'all give it up for my disciples they look sharp and handsome so now they're in the middle of a great storm come up here a little bit um you don't look like you've been through a storm it wasn't just a storm it was a great storm did that just happen that just happened now this is the awkward moment like do we do we run do we do we say hi mom what do we do man i got your glasses i'm sorry man i'll give you chick-fil-a gift card afterwards okay oh my man he said okay all right i got you i got you i got you so here here's here's here's here's some bros they show you your bros now they're going through a storm and you can see the effects of a storm on the outside you don't always see the effects of a storm on the inside [Music] can you also i don't are we going to be besties for the rest of us okay i got to make sure y'all see this i'm sorry just for the sake of the sermon you can see the effects of a storm on the outside you do not see always the effects of a storm within and what the disciples are about to realize is even though jesus does not seem to be moving he is and even though he seems to be silent he is speaking and even though it seems that he is not seeing past his eyelids he is seeing what nobody else sees because there is a man in a cave who has a storm on the inside it's frothing over it's bubbling over and what the disciples are about to feel my help in the house what the disciples are about to find out is that they are in a storm on the way to a storm in case you forgot the value that god places on one singular soul a storm is worth the soul cove it is worth revival [Applause] do not underestimate the inconvenience god will allow you to go through to get to somebody else that is being tormented i know who i'm preaching to i'm preaching to a young person i'm preaching to a pentecostal prophet on a pew i'm preaching to somebody that's been here a long time the lord sees where you are and when nobody can see you god can see what nobody else sees all of a sudden there's a man who who's been possessed and oppressed and i need i need somebody with the devil in them don't no nobody volunteer thank you don't scare me like that uh can i use you yeah can i use you see you look nice man i would say that's your sunday best oh that's not oh you trying to flex on me you know i got better than this well this is my sunday best okay this is where i cap okay but you don't know what he's going through he looks dry i don't see no water on him i mean we can change that i always got more storm but you can be dressed in your sunday best going through your very worst put up mark 5 and 5. the bible says that he is in the mountains day and night and he is he's he's crying cutting himself i'm not live life forever but i i've lived life long enough to know you can be at a high place and still be going through a low point you can have the new caddy you can have the new i'm preaching to somebody over here you can have the new job you can have everything going for you you can be in a high place and yet be at your lowest of lows and you feel like nobody you're not even trying to fake it you really would like someone to know but nobody said oh you it's all good in the hood but jesus will step into a service jesus will step into a back to school sunday and i'm telling you the crosshairs of christ are zoning in on a family zoning in on a marriage zoning in on a young person and he's saying i see you and the bible says that when jesus is this all right today can i keep preaching just a few more minutes the bible says that when jesus steps on that shore that man runs to meet him you know what that alludes to that'll lose to the fact that that man was on the edge he was at the edge of his cave he was watching he was gazing he was he had seen a storm before he had seen a boat stuck in a storm but he had never seen somebody stand in a boat and begin to speak to a storm notice i said he had never seen it he cannot hear what jesus is saying he can just see the effects of what jesus is saying and maybe just maybe something bowed up on the inside of him and said if a storm on the outside has to obey him maybe a storm on the inside has to maybe if the waves have to obey him suicidal thinking has to obey him maybe if the storm has to obey him maybe my condemnation and maybe my guilt [Applause] and maybe my hatred and maybe my darkness does too somebody lift up your hands for just a moment come on i'm telling you the crosshairs of christ or upon a singular person today i gotta hurry i'm trying to preach to somebody who everybody else would denote that you are in a lofty place but if they saw intrinsically you're in a high place but in a low point got it you would have thought i told them what to sing today we went through a lyrical journey on what i was going to preach i guess the lord said lg you ain't singing that you preach it they'll sing it god loves one singular soul so much that he has allowed all of this to happen for you maybe you're in the corner of the room but you're also in the corner of a cave maybe you're watching online but you're also watching at a distance spiritually maybe you're on the front row but you feel last maybe you're in your sunday best but going through your very decadent dark worst and the bible says you got to watch i'm watching the time i promise but you got to watch somebody said take your time i think i discerned that it was somebody in authority but i need someone to be jesus dom can you be jesus don't slip because jesus don't slip so don't slip you got anti-slip boots well jesus does so i hope you do the bible says he runs i mean i wouldn't recommend it just you know act like you're running he runs and he falls at the feet of jesus now watch there's there's about to be a a dialogue between hell and heaven between the demonic and the divine watch watch oh i need someone to be the devil you're the devil possess a man we need someone to be the devil um can i use you i mean you're looking pretty sharp get up here get up here i mean y'all thought the devil looking shabby no devil comes looking gq so it's just for the illustration okay don't i mean just i don't want you to lose a girl or anything like that just oh you're married okay no comment help me hold the coast okay okay okay 80d or anointing i don't know which i'm just so notice what hell says um you've come too early why why are you here to torment us before our time just say why are you here too early why are you here too early now this now this ain't the devil this is a rookie devil this is a junior demon because number one there's only one devil i hate to break it to you probably not the devil after you and number two the reason i know it had to be a rookie demon is because he had the audacity to tell the one who was the creator and chief of the universe the maker of every molecule the one that was before time after time yet always in time oh yo you too early boy he said um uh you're you're too early can i just submit something to you this is not my message um this is i'm breaking the rules you're not supposed to preach any message and another this this is just a little micro message if hell can intercede that jesus is too early i can intercede that he's not too late i don't want to be too harsh but some of us let devils and demons out intercede us if a demon has the audacity to negotiate so do i it is not too early for the barista at starbucks it's not too early for my spouse it is not too early for my dilemma [Applause] notice what jesus says jesus says what's your name what's your name what's your name and the reply is legion now i need your mean mug i need your deep voice no no i need your mean mug i'm about to have to sub you out i was going to say you about to lose your girl but she's faithful apparently so so i need you to say legion legion okay okay all right she's staying with you now i gotta i gotta ask you a really deep question can you tell me your first name jeremy jeremy what's your middle name david that's a first name so you got two first names okay what's your last name perez perez jeremy david perez is your last name legion your middle name legion your first name are you sure so it's jeremy david perez two first names and last name so legion was the name of the man legion was the name of the one who was speaking on behalf of the man there are too many heavenly callings and there are too many heavenly questions that are getting hellish answers because you're letting insecurity speak for you you're letting depression speak for you you're letting past trauma speak for i don't ignore reality but i cannot ignore a higher reality and the higher reality is you've got a voice you've got authority you've what what's what's your name lucy lucy what's your name isaac what's your name brady what's your name jeremy hey man what what's your name jesse hey can i which what's your name that hurt rejection scares me what's your name lindsay lindsay hey what's your name brittany y'all give me just a minute i'm not i'm having that there's a group of people that can speak for themselves doesn't matter the attack doesn't matter the storm doesn't matter the decadence doesn't matter the mistakes doesn't matter if you're shaken doesn't matter if your faith is feeble you still have a voice you you still have a voice you can pray for yourself you can say god forgive me you can say god deliver me you can say god i need you the devil will not strip my voice your name is not legion your name is not failure your name is not mistake your name is not atheism your name is not a people [Applause] [Music] [Applause] i dare you to lift up your hands i dare you to lift up your voice i dare you to prophesy to intercede to speak i dare you to let hell hear your voice [Applause] what is your name what is your name your name did not come from the one that cannot name you he can label you he cannot name you i'm off my notes right now but that's why the bible says you can trade a spirit of heaviness for a garment of praise here's the revelation it doesn't matter what attack you're under it's a spirit it's not an identity i'm feeling this come against me i feel it so strongly i'm not denying your feelings but you can trade a vibe you can trade an energy you can trade an emotion you can trade feelings that are hijacking your faith for a garment who you are is greater than what you feel so while i feel anxious i am not anxious i am a worshiper i am a disciple i am god's son i am god's daughter i give you 10 seconds to shout like you got an identity i'll give you 10 seconds to shout like who you are is greater than what you feel [Applause] i'll give you ten more seconds i give you to somebody on a leap somebody on a run somebody on a shelf somebody ought to rejoice [Applause] [Music] i'll give you 10 more seconds you want to get out of your pew you want to get into the aisle you want to get into the altar somebody is realizing your name is not legion oh there's a liberty right now there's a liberty emphatically it's not revival rhetoric it's not evangelistic hype it's faith you tell them you're about to come out today i said you're about to come out today there's two categories of people some of you are going through a storm and it's going to be cathartic for you to understand today that your storm is not purposeless it is purposeful see the bible says their boat was covered with the waves in the storm you can be so full of the elements and so full of the symptoms that it drowns out the source and while the source may seem stagnant while the source may seem oh my this is what i just noticed this weekend dom they were freaking out freaking out they're losing their mind they're in panic mode they're in a frenzy but they still let a little word slip out lord i'm about to die lord your girl is panicking lord i don't feel faith lord in the bible and the bible says the bible says that where the spirit of the lord is there is liberty no no no if we go ahead and start playing i'm not done yet but let's just cycle out if we were to if we were to unpack that you know what the deeper meaning would be where the spirit has lordship why is it that there are certain contexts where there's the potential for liberty and yet there's no deliverance blame heaven all you want but you have an acquiesced lordship [Music] we come to this i'm just flowing okay saying in my notes i want to minister to somebody we'll come into this atmosphere where the king is we're an atmosphere deliverance and we still go home to chaos because we let him be the lord of this house but not the lord of our house and we let emotion reign on the throne of our heart we let negativity and our past and trauma and fear that has torment somebody tell your neighbor it's cloudy with a chance of rain [Music] where sin did abound grace doth i checked the forecast this morning the king's still raining [Music] i don't care if you're in gudera bethsaida capernaum i don't care if you've been religious all your life i don't care if this is your first time here i don't care if you've been in this for three months and you've been struggling thank you [Music] there is no place there is no person that the reign of king jesus cannot come into contact with i defy every spirit that says you don't have jurisdiction here you can heal them but you can't heal this you can deliver that but you can't no no no no no no watch you just gotta hear this i'm hurrying i promise [Music] he's at the feet of jesus now he's clothed in his right mind pseudo-deliverance will just allow you to hear a nice spiritual ted talk and you'll come for an entertainment high and you'll go home the same that's not new testament that's north american but there is a true deliverance it affects how you think affects your mind affects your identity it affects how you dress it affects your posture physically emotionally and it's so interesting because the bible says that that it's okay i i'm trying to hurry i promise but the bible says that when those when those when those demons were about to leave the last talking point of hell was yo okay we gotta go okay we gotta go we got hey yo he said we gotta go hey but do you mind if we stay in the same zip code go back merge matthew and mark i wanted to read both chapters but then that would have been a three-hour message go back and merge the gospels they said do we have to leave the area the bible says that when jesus gave them leave they went into the pigs and where did the pigs go [Music] the pigs went to the sea of galilee i learned a little spiritual warfare principle sister ashley whenever hell is attacking me and it don't feel like junior devils and rookie demons it gets intense and i don't understand you know where i you know where i go i take them to the last place jesus moved [Music] hey let me take you back to where there was a great storm and now there's a great cone let me take you back to the last nayc the the last conference let me take you to the last back-to-school revival let me take you to my last prayer meet let me take you to the last time bishop prayed for because the last miracle is not the last miracle the last revival is not the last revival [Music] go back to the last time jesus went through a storm to get to yours [Music] so the last thing that happened is there's a man delivered and he he looks at jesus and he's always oh there's so much that he he's praying for jesus to stay and the bible says those that were feeding their pigs ran and told others there were people that were feeding their carnality and when someone got delivered they came and they prayed go back and read mark that jesus wouldn't stay there's a man praying that he wouldn't leave there's a group a mass a crowd can i just can i just answer a little something you need to beware i'm hoping some i don't want just a sunday altar call i want a monday altar call on a tuesday altar call no wednesday or thursday i'm trying to give somebody something because i don't want just god to move in this moment i want god to move from this moment [Music] beware spirits human and hellish celebrate your dysfunction but mock your miracle [Music] come to church anyway be submitted anyway pay your tithes anyway live holy anyway this is the last thing i want to say and i'm done i need my my devil possessed dude back i need you where'd you go there you are the last thing that jesus said to him the last thing that jesus said to him the last thing that jesus thanks jesus the last thing that jesus told him was simply this go home go home that's not really how you would end a revival service kind of cringy yo go home [Music] go home okay any any last final words could you give me like a pithy tweet i mean maybe a you know a facebook bomb emoji something go home but what sounded like demotion was elevation because when jesus told him to go home he was notifying him the tombs are not the tombs are not your hope the grave is not your home the bones is not your you may have been living there but it is not your it is not your home i'm done but i wonder if somebody would just come a little closer right now i wonder if somebody in the back was coming to the middle i wonder if somebody in the side would come a little closer i want you to lich up your hands right now somebody's coming out of the cave somebody's coming out of the storm and you're going by home on lit your hands all across this house i'm done but i want you to let this word soak in your spirit i want you to let this word get a hold of your mind the bible says there was two in the cave but only one came you're not by yourself today i want you to link with somebody right now brother brother sister sister friend a friend tell somebody we're coming out we're coming out
