Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Thankful for the church

  • He pastors in South Dakota and travels with his family — one of his kids is with him 90 of the time — so his children can see how big and beautiful the family of God is, and he is thankful for the church.
  • Every good gift and every perfect gift comes from above, from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness nor shadow of turning; parents should interrupt a child's good time and teach them it is the goodness of God that made that moment possible.

Scriptures: James 1:17

When man began to call upon the name of the Lord

  • Abraham took it upon himself to speak unto the Lord though he was but dust and ashes; somebody has to take it upon themselves to speak to God and not always let someone else do all the talking for them.
  • Adam knew his wife again and she bore Seth, appointed another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew; and to Seth a son was born, Enos — then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.
  • He takes his subject from that last statement and prays for the windows of heaven to open, for scales to fall from eyes and for ears to hear clearer than they have ever heard.

Scriptures: Genesis 18:27; Genesis 4:25-26

Paradise lost, and the blood that atones

  • God formed man from the dust and breathed life into him; relationship without choice cannot produce true love, so the tree stood in the garden and the serpent leveraged whatever captured Eve's attention.
  • Adam was not deceived — nothing is love when disobedience is attached to it, it is rebellion; to obey is better than sacrifice, and obedience is always the right decision even when it is difficult.
  • He that covers his sins shall not prosper, but whoso confesses and forsakes them shall find mercy; God calls not because he is uninformed but because he loves us, and wants us to acknowledge where we are.
  • It was not leaves but a blood sacrifice that clothed them: it is the blood that makes an atonement for the soul, and without the shedding of blood there is no remission; God purchased the church with his own blood, a spirit made flesh and nailed to a cross.

Scriptures: Proverbs 28:13; Leviticus 17:11; Hebrews 9:22; Acts 20:28

Seth, Enos, and 240 years of silence

  • He pictures Adam finally having the talk with Seth — paradise, and the two other brothers, one murdered by the other — and Seth resolving not to repeat the cycle of sin and dysfunction he had watched.
  • Seth marries and longs for a child; the baby is born and named Enos, a sickly child, and something rises in him to boiling point — enough, God — and men begin to call on the name of the Lord.
  • From Adam to that moment was 240 years: a father and mother who knew the name and had walked with God in the cool of the garden let their hurt, their sin and their regret hold back prayer and consecration in their home.
  • How long has it been since that name was uttered in your home — since your daughter heard mama crying and dad praying in the name that is above every name?

Take with you words

  • Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men: you cannot just worship your way, you have to worship Yahweh, and truth trumps tradition.
  • When the Creator walks down your aisle, creation must respond: the fig tree that would not respond out of season withered, and if the children are silenced the rocks will cry out in their place.
  • The prophet Hosea gave the command — when you go before God, take with you words; God came to church to get a word from you, and Daniel was told the angel had come for his words after 21 days of calling.

Scriptures: Mark 7:7; Hosea 14:2

Your need has to find its voice

  • The power of the Lord was present to heal them, but it took somebody desperate enough to tear the roof off; you have to want it more than anyone else in the room.
  • Death and life are in the power of the tongue; the blind man's miracle was not his blindness but his voice calling Jesus, thou son of David, and prayer is where we develop our vocabulary with God.
  • It is all right to admit, as the disciples did after three years with Jesus, Lord, teach us to pray; bring your children into the prayer room and let them hear you — revival like the upper room goes back to the living room.
  • In the altar ministry he presses the room to maintain and exceed: spouses lay hands on a sick spouse, children gather round crying save now, and the congregation prays one for another, calling on the name of Jesus.

praise the lord amen you may be seated in the presence of the lord it feels good to be with god's people there's nothing like it and uh it has been a joy it has been a delight to be here in maryville and i've been here before and i feel like we're getting to know each other and uh i feel like you have been better to me than i deserve your kindness to our family and i want my my family to see how great the church is there's a number of reasons why i travel with my family usually one of my kids is with me 90 of the time when i go somewhere i am a pastor i'm home virtually 90 of the time in south dakota i'm in love with my field of labor i'm not looking for anything else to do but i do believe god has opened a sovereign door for us to walk through these past eight years and um i want my kids to see the family of god and how beautiful the family of god is and how big the family of god is and uh sometimes there's struggle and difficulties in ministry and my kids sometimes can begin to express their frustration with the amount of time mom and dad have to be here or there in ministry and i tell them that that's just one of the the pains and the price of ministry but anytime they're having a good time i make sure for us to slow down and i ask them are you having a good time and they say yeah and i say you know how that's possible they say how i say the church the church is what made this moment possible there's some pleasure in the church and there's some pain in the church but we need to be aware of how good the church is the bible says in james chapter one that every good gift and every perfect gift comes from above from the father of lights with whom is no variableness neither shadow of turning anyone here thankful for the church every now and again parents grandparents when your kid is having a good time you need to interrupt that good time and expound to them why they're able to experience that good time it's by the goodness of god it's the goodness of god that led us to these moments because they may not have a mom and dad present with them if you weren't serving the lord if there wasn't a great mother church that was nurturing you and feeding you and taking i'm thankful for the mother i'm thankful for the church i don't know if you have a picture of my family i always love to introduce my family let people know that i'm not some long lost wayward child roaming around but that is a scene in south dakota one of the beautiful sloughs behind us and i love i love my children i love my wife and i am blessed indeed and um i want to try to be as thankful and grateful as i can genesis chapter 18 we're going to turn in the word of the lord now i'm just going to give you a heads up i didn't give you warning yesterday i might be short but i compensate with long sermons and uh so it's my napoleon syndrome it's what i do i'm just i mean on average it's it's easily over an hour every time and i know supposedly we're not supposed to do that but um this is what we do so we're in maryville you like preaching all right all right you also find out i'm the kind of preacher you either hate or despise so you pick genesis chapter 18 if you're there say amen if you're not say a woman verse 27 abraham answered and said behold now i have taken upon me to speak unto the lord somebody has to take it upon themselves to speak unto the lord you can't always let someone else do all the talking for you you have to take it upon yourself to speak unto the lord he said i have taken upon me to speak unto the lord which am but dust and ashes turn to your neighbor say you are butt dust stay humble genesis chapter 4 verse 25 and 26 abraham knew his wife again he must have forgot and she bear a son and called his name seth someone say seth for god said she has appointed me another seed or child instead of abel abel was killed cain slew him and to seth to him also there was born a son and he called his name enos then began men to call upon the name of the lord would you read that last statement with me then began men to call upon the name of the lord i want to speak with the help of the lord these next few moments with the help of your attention about when man began to call upon the name of the lord would you lift your hands would you pray with me jesus we need you god if you are not here except the lord build the house we labor in vain that build it except the lord keep the city the watchman waketh but in vain but i pray in these next few moments god that you would open up the windows of heaven i pray that you would roll back the roof of this church and fixate a ladder between heaven and earth jesus i pray that the angels of god would ascend and descend upon this location jesus we need your divine presence to walk up and down every single one of these aisles and i pray i ask god i beseech you by the mercies of the lord that jesus you would let the spirit of revelation sweep through this congregation i pray you would open up eyes to see take scales as it were off of them and i pray you open up ears to hear clearer than they've ever heard in their life god i pray in the name of jesus that there will be illumination lord and there there would be agreement in the house tonight in the name of jesus would you clap your hands to the lord hallelujah somebody say in jesus name you may be seated hallelujah hallelujah when man began to call upon the name of the lord the word man in scripture is speaking in terms of mankind humanity and i want to just kind of explain the context of the scripture that we read and give you the backdrop i understand that i'm in a an established church that has a legacy that has biblical sound teaching and so some of this may seem very elementary to you but i'm a very very basic person i'm not very deep i hang out on the shallow end of the pool with my floaties it's just kind of where it's at and i i'm not a very uh deep intellectual person i just try to gain a concept from scripture and i figure if i can get it then anybody in the room can get it so don't don't look for any fancy stuff it's just really plain meat and potatoes but i've also learned in the process of pastoring the past 16 years and when you're going into a new work and you're digging it out and even if it is an established work we live in a non-biblical culture and there's just a lot of people that don't know a lot about the bible they have some ideas they have some opinions but there's not as much expounding in the scripture as i would wish there would be i know that's a blanket statement that's not true everywhere but in the process of time of trying to dig out of work i've realized not everybody knows this story and if you are ever in a service where they're preaching something you already know it is not a healthy thing for you to turn the preacher off and to write them off because you already know this is your opportunity to reaffirm some things and it's also your opportunity to agree with those things vocally because there's people in that room that will hear that for their first time and it will be a topic of controversy and they need to know what it's like to be in a surrounding that supports and believes that you know jesus name baptism but if it's taught very basic and simplistic again you need to just agree and say amen and create an atmosphere of agreement and unity in the house of the lord and that goes with any doctrine you just need to support that preacher that is preaching whatever doctrine going forth as long as it is scriptural of course and so we go to this genesis account and we read about adam we read about eve we read about this situation here in scripture of the naming of names and if you are not familiar genesis is the book of beginnings when you open up genesis chapter one it's in the beginning god god said let there be and there was we are not some random cataclysmic accident that just came upon life by chance there was an intelligent designer behind it all regardless of what school systems may say and what political systems may say why we are able to be verbal and vocal we need to be as loud and clear and also explain it with a right spirit that we believe in the beginning god created the heavens and the earth the earth was without form it was void it was dark but god said let there be light and there was light god began to cause division and separation to cause distinction between elements of the earth between darkness and light god has always operated that way he spoke over and over and over again to all the elements of creation they came into existence but then there was another creation that came along the horizon and that was mankind and god did this a little differently for he did not just speak and man came into existence god he got down on his proverbial hands and knees as it were and he began to form man out of the dust of the ground but not just that being any element unique the bible says god breathed into adam and he came to life he became a living soul it is what distinguishes you and i from all of creation in all of animal kingdom though there is an agenda and there is an ideology out there that goes something along like this man is cow and cow is pig and pig is rat and rat is mosquito basically we're all the same we're just living organisms now what separates you and i from everything else is that you have the breath of god that gave you life it is why we have a different awareness than anything else in nature there is a godlike nature inside of us that came from the breath of god and god began to manifest his will god created paradise god did not create violence god did not create cancer god did not create all the things that we would see as atrocities today that so frustrate and aggravate us and people will try to explain before i go on that rabbit show basically all this creation happens and so god makes a paradise this is the will of god and god wants to be in relationship with mankind but relationship without choice does not produce true love god is love and god wanted to have relationship with his creation based upon choice not just nature and so there is a decision placed in that garden there is a tree planted the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and god said adam eve you can have anything and everything you want in this garden in this paradise but one thing you cannot eat of the tree of knowledge and good and evil but when you tell your kids you can't do something it's like just curiosity but god put the nature of curiosity inside of you god wants you to think god wants you to contemplate god wants you to consider it's okay for you to question some things it's okay for you to ponder some things it is a healthy thing to do it but make sure it is with a right spirit a spirit in pursuit of truth a spirit in pursuit of god and his will and the bible says one day in the process of time eve was near the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and in that moment the serpent saw her and he began to speak to her we know now that that serpent was the devil the devil began to speak to eve she looked on the fruit and then she listened to the message that was attached to that tree anything in of itself is not evil it's not wrong the apostle paul spoke about it in romans and but the devil always has attached himself to what captures our attention and he leverages it for his purpose for his will and the first temptation in the garden i think it's healthy for you and i to know this is audio visual we're a very audio visual driven society constantly watching constantly listening and the devil knows we are constantly watching we are constantly listening and so he will always attach himself to what gets our attention and he will try to work himself into that to try to cause a snare for you to be caught in his temptation and so all of a sudden she stares long enough and she listens long enough and now it goes beyond the audio in the visual it comes to the interaction and she gets that fruit in her hand and she bites it and her eyes are open and she sees that she is naked she sees this and now she has this knowledge of good and evil the bible goes on to say that she got her husband and and and he saw this fruit and adam already knew the bible says adam wasn't deceived the woman was he knew he wasn't deceived he knew now i've heard a lot of theories as to why adam bit the apple if you want to call it the apple because adam so loved eve he couldn't imagine life without her what a man nothing is love when disobedience is attached to it it's rebellion it's rebellion even if he really could not imagine life without her she was not god and she was not the creator this is why we got to be very careful about relationships that we are connected to because the longer you're connected to someone the greater the emotion and the attachment becomes and down the road they'll say well if you love me no it's not love it's rebellion it's not love it's disobedience to obey is better than sacrifice now this is just hypothetical don't make a doctrine out of this but i just ponder what if adam did not taste of that fruit because jesus was the second adam and the second adam he was tempted but without sin and he was able to reconcile god to man what if adam would have chose god what if adam would have chose obedience i don't know if reconciliation could have been made but it's just something to think about obedience is always the right decision even when it is a difficult decision but because of this decision where adam chose to eat of that tree now sin has entered into the garden and adam and eve they go hiding and they try to cover themselves they realize their sin and god's walking in the garden and they run off and that is just like god even when we sin he comes looking for us and he comes calling our god knows where you are at when he's calling for you and you're running but understand god's not calling because he's uninformed god's calling because he loves you and he simply wants you to acknowledge where you are at the bible says in the book of proverbs chapter 23 and verse 17 he that covers his sins shall not prosper but whoso will confess and forsake shall find mercy that's all god wants you to do is to acknowledge your sin not to cover it up like adam and eve because us trying to cover up will never ever be enough and we need to acknowledge it but not just say i'm sorry we need to repent it's one of the most powerful portions of scripture to help us understand what repentance really is and god knew it wasn't going to be leaves that was going to take care of it there had to be a blood sacrifice god clothed them in skin the skin came from a sacrifice it was the blood of an animal the bible says in leviticus 17 11 it's the blood that makes an atonement for the soul but it's impossible for the blood of bulls and lambs and goats to cover and redeem the sin of mankind and so the bible says in hebrews 9 22 without the shedding of blood there is no remission but the good news is this acts 20 28 that god he purchased this church with his very own blood a spirit cannot bleed and so a spirit became flesh and that flesh was in the form of a servant and that servant was nailed to a cross and that bread blood flowed so that sin stained soul can be made white as snow whoa are you thankful for the blood adam and eve are now ushered out of the garden this is not a the main point but it's a nice side point that i've heard that i have learned to appreciate there's only one thing that made it out of the garden and that was marriage and the devil's been attacking it ever since and so all of a sudden adam and eve are out of the garden they're kicked out and they have a son they have two sons cain and abel that serpent and god each had a conversation with mankind god said you eat that fruit you will surely die and the devil said no no no that day you won't die your eyes will be open and so it appeared though they did not have immediate drop dead to the floor moment it was a progressive death and so now adam and eve have these two sons and it's a time of worship a time of sacrifice and cain and abel come before the lord the bible says in the process of time and there's two altars and cain and abel abel he brings a meat offering an animal offering before the lord and a cain he brings a vegan offering and god's like i ain't no vegan dude bro like it's organic you know organic satanic rhyme i don't know i just i'm just kidding if you're here you're vegan's fine but the lord wanted some meat you can't just worship your way you got to worship yahweh it's not about preference it's about obedience so they try preference and they try obedience and by faith god received one over the other the bible says that cain was furious he was wroth with it his countenance changed and when they're out in the field cain killed his brother the first murder in the bible he slays his own brother then god says hey where's your brother he says am i my brother's keeper god was displeased and he cast cain out then we come back to the scripture that we have read in genesis chapter 4. the word says that adam knew his wife again in verse 25. and she has a son and calls his name seth someone say seth seth simply put means a substitute because they lost one son now they have a new son the truth of the matter is there is no real substitute for a lost child but they're simply communicating their feelings in this moment and the bible says in verse 26 at seth over time he begins to grow up so adam and eve have their sons here their family and again i put myself into the story to try to better understand some things or maybe comprehend something and i could see it in my mind's eye that that little boy grows because a lot of happened in these just a few verses a lot of years have transpired but there's a story behind those years that boy didn't just magically become an adult and have a kid but he grows up and i i'm kind of a softy now with having three children and have what i've enjoyed over the seasons of life is having more mature conversation with my kids conversation i could have like in the beginning you know they handed me this blue alien and i'm like is he gonna stay like this so i'm a horrible father i understand that but i i i don't think babies are cute i don't hold anyone's babies i don't like oh i think it's just this is me so i'm like i need some affirmation i'm so insecure i need i need him to react and so as he grew up then i'm like okay i think i like this thing and been able to have some conversations and some interactions over time and i think the time came where adam and eve they're farmers and and that's how they live that's how they survive seth is growing up and it's that time where a father and son need to have the talk you all know what the talk is my father tried to give me the talk my senior year of high school a little late how'd you find out so adam and seth go out to do some garden work it's the day he's going to have a talk with him mature conversation to share things he does not know like a picture of them working under the heat of the day and adam just kind of leans on his shovel and watches his boy seth working in the ground and and he's getting that sunburn on his neck and he's he's he's getting cuts and blisters and and blisters in his hands and he's working and he's like come on dad i could use some help his dad's just kind of looking no you just keep on working son i just want to talk to you for a little bit you know son things weren't always like this boy looking what do you mean dad well you know your mother and i we didn't always live here where do we live dad paradise paradise where's that what's it like well your mother and i we lived in this garden of eden there was no humidity there was no mosquitoes in my child in fact i didn't need any sunscreen whatsoever what dad are you okay did you did you i think you're getting some heat stroke right no son no son just shut up and listen just listen we lived in paradise i never never pulled a hamstring before son my back never did ache everything was perfect perfect dad what happened well your mother got hungry lunch hasn't changed in 6 000 years ladies still coming to church with the purse with the little look we know she ate what you guys got kicked out of paradise over one piece of food yeah son that's right you you forfeited everything for one moment of pleasure yeah there i i calm down seth there's something else i need to tell you what else are you gonna tell me well you're not an only son what do you mean we have two other brothers i've had two other brothers well where are they one of them was murdered murdered by who your other brother where's he at he's serving a life sentence you'll never see him what you did all of you forfeited everything for one moment of pleasure yeah i i i can explain so no dad i i i need to go i need to go i believe both parties had a tough time sleeping that night i've heard stories over the years where somebody finds out in their teen years that that's really not their biological father that's not even their mother i've heard scene after scene of all of a sudden when you think you know but all of a sudden you get blindsided and you learn something you never knew before and it floors you knocks the wind out of your sails and seth i could see his mind moving like with animosity and anger we really don't know we can only speculate and theorize so i'm not trying to make a doctrine but i think it's quite possible a lot of frustration could be in that young man i believe he made some commitments on that day i'm i can't believe that i'm not going to do that i'm not going to be like mom and dad i don't want to repeat that cycle of sin i don't want to live in a life of dysfunction see it's an interesting study going on right now is we have more information than we've ever had in the existence of humanity that's so easily accessible but certain addictions have absolutely plummeted in regards of nicotine and alcohol and illicit drugs because a generation has grown up and watched the effect on their family and they made some resolve in their gut in their spirit i'm not going to be an alcoholic like dad i'm not going to beat mama like that boyfriend did i i'm not going to be a crackhead i'm i'm not going to give myself to that now it's interesting we are far from a christian society and there's a lot of atheists and agnostics and other religions that actually make those decisions as well because they've seen the cycle of sin unfold over generations and their family and it's tough to break but they want out of it you need to take another look at that person addicted to alcohol drugs and sex they're not that way by themselves it's been a sick a cyclical force it's been a generational thing that has had a hold of him but i believe in the name of jesus there are some people that want to rise and say no i want to break this cycle i don't want to live in a cycle of sin i don't want to live in a cycle of dysfunction and seth making his mind up it's not going to be that way i'm going to be moral i'm going to be all right i'm going to do things the best that i can and when i get married when i have a family things are going to be different well the day comes seth gets older and seth gets married who do you get married to figure that one out mom i don't like my brother well you better get used to it it's in the book so they get married marriage is a pretty awesome thing it really is it's the only thing i made out of the garden it's the thing that's under attack and so he's trying to do everything right but over the seasons that moment happens where you just know it's time to start a family it's just you know and it's my wife and i've been married 17 years and when we decided to have a family it was it was an exciting thing but it was a nerve-wracking thing because you really don't know people that cannot have children and so you're hoping praying that you can have kids and we find the news my wife's pregnant we're like yes it's possible we're able we're blessed to have children but then another fear comes in are we going to make it all nine months because i think something like around a third of people have miscarriages we're very fearful very nervous about it and so we were prayerful and we didn't announce that you you could announce your pregnancy as early as you want but we we just know statistically after the first trimester there's a greater chance the child is going to make it all the way through so we waited before anybody knew because we didn't want to keep getting asked how's the baby doing in the event that we lost the baby and so we it came time it's nine months we're there we're excited we're pumped up but all of a sudden didn't happen just the way we wanted it to we had to have an emergency c-section we're very nervous we're very frightened we're very scared but it happened on that day they're about to present the child to us but i'm nervous god i'm going to be thankful i'm going to be thankful for whatever child i have but lord i just i i do pray for a healthy child because not every child born has the same health that you and i might have and there's nerves but on that day we were handed a child a healthy boy named noah it was a beautiful feeling and peace came we've also went through the miscarriage after that it's a very hard feeling and a hard season to go through and seth is on this day his wife is able to have kids yes and the day of that birth is coming yes i want to be a father she's going to be a mama we're going to have i'm going to have i'm going to be able to celebrate my first father's day i'm going to be able to celebrate my wife's going to celebrate that mother's day yes yes it's gonna happen and that child is born and they put that baby in his hands and something happens he names him enos which means a sickly handicapped child something is not right with the birth we don't know all we know is he named him i've tried to do everything right i'm trying to live right what is going on i'll say this from the get-go just so you know no no matter the level of health that someone has in this room it does not reduce anyone's quality of life you are made in the image of god and we value every element of human life at every stage of life this world would like to abort a type of life that doesn't fit protocol but we as apostolics we as god-fearing christians we value all life but like any parent you want a healthy baby i worked at starbucks for 10 years and i've developed a lot of relationships and i remember one day this particular father was excited to bring his daughter to school she was able to walk she was able to talk she was able to see she was able to hear but she had birth marks all over her face kids can be brutal i remember him leaving excited but returning so shot and hurt because as he let his baby go immediately he heard other kids make fun of her and a father wanting to charge had to hold back and say okay they're kids and walk away and trust this girl is going to make it through a day of school and that's a healthy child running walking talking seeing and it creates as a parent because you want the best in fact you want better for yours than yourself he doesn't want to name his kid handicapped he doesn't want to name him sickly but it's very obvious something's off and we read here that all of a sudden something rises inside of enos and emotion it rises and he hits boiling point enough god then began man to call on the name of the lord the time from this moment to adam is 240 years after the garden it took 240 years before somebody uttered the name of god there was a father there was a mother who knew the name there was a father there was a mother that knew the presence of god walking with them in the cool of the garden they knew that relationship but they let their hurt and they let their sin and they let their regret hold back the name of god being called upon in their home they held back prayer in their home they held back consecration in their home and they raised up a boy after another boy and a daughter after another daughter that went for 240 years never saying the name that is above every name how long has it been since that name has been uttered in your home how long has it been since your baby girl since your sweet granddaughter heard you call on the name of the lord in your home they hear about a name here but do they hear about that name there do they wake up and hear mama crying and dad praying in the name that's above every name i wonder if somebody can call on the name of the lord right now i wonder if someone can speak the name that is above every name i wonder if it can arise from your belly from your innermost man can you call the name of jesus can someone speak the name of jesus uh can't do it without the name you can't do it without the name you can't do it without the name seth tried he tried doing everything better than mom and dad but he finally had to hit rock bottom but the good news about hitting rock bottom there's a rock there and that rock is christ his name is unlike any other name and the bible says he finally called on that name and it was the first time and here's the truth of the matter if you're here tonight and you've never called on the name of jesus audibly you've never spoke the name of jesus over you in baptism we're all starting at the same place we all have to have a first time we call on the name we've all have to have a first time saying our first prayer we all have to have a first moment where we give our first praise where we give our first sacrifice where we first give but it was a moment of desperation it doesn't have to take that moment but most times in most cases it does how desperate are you to call on that name in prayer to call that name in worship to lift up that name and you can't just do it any way you just want to prefer the bible says in mark 7 7 how be it in vain do they worship me this is jesus talking jesus says your worship to me is vain it means nothing you can't just worship your way he says because you worship according to the doctrines and commandments of men the traditions of men and not according to truth truth trumps tradition hear me god is in this place there is there is a very tangible presence of god in this room right now god is here and he's looking for there is a burden on my heart it's like a hot ember wrapped inside of my heart he was looking for a response god is always looking for a response this god this great creator to which god was in christ god manifests in the flesh jesus was god in the flesh and the bible says when he began to walk that earth there was a moment where he stepped out onto the water the water acts a certain way with certain properties it's supposed to give way to that greater pressure being applied onto it but on that day the creator came in contact with its creation and when the creator made contact with the creation the creation said i'm gonna respond and i'm gonna lift him up something has to happen in this room when the creator walks down your aisle don't let him fall through you need to lift him up i wonder if you're going to lift him up tonight jesus is in the house jesus is in the room is there a saint of god that will lift he's looking for a response he's looking for a response jesus he's walking and he sees a fig tree and the bible says it was not the season for there to be figs well i don't really feel like praising god i don't really feel like calling on the name of the lord right now you don't understand i just lost a child you don't understand i lost my father to covet you don't understand preacher you don't get it right now i just went through a divorce and i'm sitting in church right now it's the best that i can do i don't disrespect you whatsoever i honor you for being here on a monday night and i know it may not seem like it's the season to respond but when the creator reaches out to his creation even when it's not the right season he still expects a response and because it did not respond he says there ain't no blessing on this now there ain't no life curse this is jesus and he curses something out of season and it straightway withers and dies he walks down the streets of jerusalem and all of a sudden people crying out hosanna save now say we need salvation now we need revival now we need redemption now we need salvation now and the children are crying the children are praising the children are worshiping but there's some uptight religious people that have been in a long time and say hey come on just calm down jesus why don't you silence these youthful praisers why do you silence this praise in this worship why don't you quiet down and jesus says i could but i'm still gonna get a response the rocks will cry out in their place you may not respond here tonight but someone is going to respond and they're look for a rock to cry out is a miracle and for you to cry out out of your season is a miracle god will produce the miraculous if you respond tonight do not be one that withholds there's a name that you need to begin to call on tonight someone speak the name of jesus everyone has quite similar reasons for coming to church heard it time and time again and i said it over and over again i come to get a word from god but god comes to church for a different reason he comes to get a word from you you came to get a word from god god came to get a word from you the angel of the lord told daniel i've come for your words i'm here because words have been going up 21 days straight you haven't stopped calling on the name of the lord so i've come here in the name of the lord i've come for your word does someone have a word for the word that was made flesh does someone have a praise an offering of thanksgiving and say jesus i want you to know i told you to afford but i'm going to tell you again i love you jesus i love you jesus the prophet hosea chapter 14 and verse 2 he gave the command he says when you go before god take with you words take words when you come to god god is here that doesn't guarantee you anything if you don't do anything i don't come here with a mean spirit i don't come here with a holy spirit there is a love in my heart right now that is burning like a coal there is i'm just simply trying to convey the attitude of god i'm just trying to accurately as best i can to convey to you how god feels in this moment right now the bible says in luke 5 17 the power of god was present to heal them god was there in that room the whole time with everybody there but it took somebody that was desperate that was at rock bottom to tear the roof off that church site location and lower him into that room it wasn't the season it wasn't the convenience but it was a desperation that i've got to get to where jesus is at and if i can get to where jesus the power of god is present to heal but god does not heal until somebody is desperate until somebody wants it more than everybody you've got to want it more than anyone else in this room could you lift your hands um can you speak the name of jesus audibly right now if you've never done it before would you do it for your first time i know it's awkward uncomfortable if it's not your tradition what you're used to but we just listen to this preacher for a moment and open your mouth and let a sound out and say jesus i love you jesus i need you jesus i'm desperate for you i don't think i'm trying to persuade a group here that god exists but it's not enough to believe that god exists you got to believe that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him god rewards those that pursue him but you got to use your voice the bible says in proverbs 18 21 death and life are in the power of the tongue here boys god gave that voice to you to call out on that name that is above every name i was talking about using voice and praise one time and afterwards a a speech therapist in the congregation came up to me and she began to talk about why the upcoming generation of young people struggle with communication she constantly has to do therapy she's an apostolic and she she works with people all the time i'm trying to help them to better communicate and this younger generation coming up doesn't have the proper skill sets of communication because they're constantly addicted to a screen and they're constantly interacting in that world that they don't know how to accurate act in the natural world just the digital world and i've seen it creep into the church where people don't know how to how to communicate to god in the natural and in the spiritual because we're so silent so often if the only time you do speak to god is on a sunday or on a church service you haven't developed your vocabulary yet prayer is where you develop your vocabulary and relationship with god coming here it's just a fling but on monday tuesday wednesday thursday friday it's relationship we do not treat god like a weekend fling where we just come for the goods and the benefits and throw a few lavish compliments his way god wants to hear you every single day mama you got to start praying every day papa you gotta start praying every single day and you gotta let your boy hear you you gotta bring your boy into that prayer room bring your daughter into that prayer room let them hear the voice of their father speak to their heavenly father you've got to train them up you want revival like the upper room it's back to the living room you got to get in that living room now it's one thing to say all that here and to rally the base but it really starts tomorrow morning and if you've never done that and you don't know how you're just like everyone else we all have our moment where we say to jesus in luke 11 1 lord teach us to pray it took him three years to work up the courage to make that statement walking with jesus three years it's okay to admit as a 60 year old lord teach me to pray and start calling on the name of the lord you've not done it before but that's okay none of us have at some point but there's a moment of desperation when you realize this isn't turning out the way i had hoped so i'm gonna do something i've never done before you've got to begin calling on the name of the lord look if need is the only criteria for a miracle there'd be no more needs there's a blind man and it wasn't the blindness that got his miracle it wasn't the blindness that got jesus attention it was a voice jesus thou son of david jesus thou son of david jesus i don't care what anyone else thinks about me in this room i'm blind i'm lost in my way i don't know where to go so i'm just going to call on a name and i'm going to call it louder than i've ever called it before and i'm going to call it louder than anyone else in this room jesus your need has to find its voice your need has to find it hey come on someone begin to call on that name right now it's been too long since you called on that name come on are you desperate enough right now come on are you desperate enough right now the holy ghost is in this room come on i know it's out of season i know it's out of character but will you call on that name tonight jesus wants your voice your voice matters your voice matters i know it's not your personality but your voice is come on right now the situation is too dire the situation is too desperate your voice come on speak the name of jesus jesus you don't need me you need jesus you don't need me to pray for you you need jesus call on jesus he's here right now the creator is here right now call on the name call on the name that's it maintain that level right now maintain that level and exceed it maintain that level and exceed it don't let your voice die off in five minutes don't let your voice die out in 10 minutes maintain and exceed go northward you've been here before but let's go northward so that's it from the abundance of the heart let your mouth speak right now come on let your cup run over that's why he's after your voice from the abundance of the heart god wants your heart and your heart connected to your mouth let your voice out god will in no wise cast you out that's it push come on push you've been here now let's go beyond you've been here now let's go beyond let's go beyond the five minute barrier come on be on the five-minute barrier of desperation get your real desperation god what's your voice god wants your voice it's your heart come on open your mouth open your mouth you got your eyes open how about close your eyes and open your mouth close your eyes tap into the spirit and release the sound release the sound let jericho fall let jericho fall foreign true hey jesus i feel quicken in my spirit i need you to listen hear me i don't know who this is for i don't know what it applies to i i i feel it quicken if there is a married couple in this room and there is a sickness in one of those bodies i want the spouse to lay hands on that spouse's head and let them hear you call on the name of the lord if you have children in the room i want them gathered around that right now and i want the children to begin to cry hosanna save now save now come on there's a sick body in this room right now come on in the name of jesus if you're not married and you have sickness in your body you need to find a brother or a sister the bible says confess your faults one to another and pray one for another that ye may be healed come on have someone call the name of the lord let them hear the name of jesus come from a spiritual leader in that home let them hear the name of jesus come from their children right now in the name of jesus not by my might and not by my power but by the spirit of the living god by the name of jesus which means jehovah god my salvation save now save now no no no no no no no no no no no no no so so that's it faith is in this room right now faith is in this room right now come on begin to pray one for another the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much there's prevailing prayers in this room there's prevailing prayers in this room in the name of jesus in the name of jesus in the name of jesus
