Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Three Days from the Red Sea

  • The head text is Israel fresh from deliverance: Miriam leads the women with timbrels and dances, singing to the Lord who has triumphed gloriously
  • Three days into the wilderness they find water that is bitter and cannot drink, and the people murmur against Moses
  • His subject is their question: what shall we drink?
  • Deliverance should be celebrated; the danger is how quickly grumbling follows it

Scriptures: Exodus 15:20-24

The Water He Gives

  • Jesus stood in the feast and cried: if any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink — out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water, spoken of the Spirit
  • To the woman at the well he promised water that becomes a well springing up into everlasting life, so the drinker never thirsts
  • The Holy Ghost is that living water, meant to flow fresh from the delivered believer

Scriptures: John 7:37-39; John 4:13-14

What Makes the Water Bitter

  • Contamination: a foreign agent defiles the well — those who once walked in truth can become wells without water, promising liberty while servants of corruption
  • Corruption creeps in by subtlety: another Jesus, another spirit, another gospel politely received will pollute the simplicity that is in Christ
  • Stagnation: water that does not move turns bitter, like the salt-heavy sea with no outlet where nothing lives
  • A spiritual life that is no longer moved — by any song, message, or speaker — is on its way to bitterness

Scriptures: 2 Peter 2:17-21; 2 Corinthians 11:3-4

The Sweetening

  • Peace and holiness are sweetening agents: follow peace with all men and holiness, looking diligently lest any root of bitterness spring up and defile many
  • David thirsted for God in a dry land; blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness
  • The Lord showed Moses a tree, and cast into the waters they were made sweet; then came the wells and palm trees of the oasis
  • The tree we look to is the cross; the altar invitation is to let him sweeten every bitter spirit tonight

Scriptures: Hebrews 12:14-15; Psalms (book-only, as spoken); Matthew 5:6; Exodus 15:25-27

Thank you. Praise team, musicians. Lord bless you. You may be seated. We greet everyone in the precious name of Jesus. I want to say welcome back. Sister Pat Garrett had a little stint in the hospital, but that she's too good a lady to keep down. Good to have you back in the house of the Lord. Welcome home. We love you. I join my voice with that of Pastor Anthony giving all the welcomes. Uh so glad to have the Fieldings in the house tonight. We love you folks dearly. Uh, Sister Jody, Brother Sunny, we love you folks and so glad to always have you home and it's just good to be at home with everyone tonight. We are on the prefaces of another general conference and we're so excited about all that's going on. I need not uh belabor the point any further save to say thank you in advance for your help your participation all those who are working and ministering this week thank you so much I do realize the challenge that we face in the city of Knoxville of going downtown as in any city it's always a bit of a challenge parking and doing all of those kind of things and I appreciate the sacrifices that all make uh for such such an event to be there and make it successful and to welcome all of our guests from around our nation, around the world. Thank you so much for your contribution to the work of the Lord. I want us to get right into the word of the Lord tonight. Uh thank you, Pastor Anthony, for a marvelous message this morning. Uh I'm excited about all that the Lord is doing for us and the way he's healing the mess that we are. Uh my wife, Sister Jamie, remarked, she said, "I had a hard time saying I'm a mess because I live with her and she's not." But it was figuratively speaking. And I we get that. I understand. Uh and I'm I'm thankful for all of those things that were listed today that I am and we are at one time. But God knows how to cleanse us and straighten us up and make us what we should be. calling your attention tonight to the book of Exodus, the 15th chapter. I'll give you just a moment to turn there. And I also want to uh remind all of our summit group leaders. Thank you for the works that you are doing in the small groups. And uh I don't know if I could call that men's group that we traveled with yesterday a small group. I'll call it a medium group. Anyway, there was a great number of men. And what a wonderful time of fellowship and fun that we had together fellowshipping together and to see you all back here in the house of the Lord. Thank you so much for the time I got to spend with you and for the organizers. All I had to do was show up and that was a that was a good feeling. I once heard a pastor uh when asked the question said, "Do you have a favorite activity?" And he said, "Yeah." He said, "I like to go down to the train yard and watch all the train cars move." And somebody asked him, "So, well, why in the world do you enjoy doing that?" He said, "I enjoy watching anything that I'm not having to push." So, uh, I don't feel like I have to push all that much around here. There's folks that step in and they do, uh, so many wonderful things and work in so many fields. So, thank you again for all you do. The book of Exodus the 15th chapter. We'll begin reading at verse number 21. Exodus 15 verse number 20. Excuse me. Verse number 20. And Miriam the prophetess the sister of Aaron took a timber in her hand. And all the women went out after her with timberalss and with dances. And Miriam answered them, "Sing ye to the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously, the horse and the rider hath he thrown into the sea." So Moses brought Israel from the Red Sea, and they went out into the wilderness of shore, and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water. And when they came to Mea, they could not drink of the waters of Mea, for they were bitter. And the name of it was called Mea. And notice verse 24. And the people murmured against Moses, saying, "What shall we drink?" For a few moments tonight, I would speak to you on that subject. And that question, what shall we drink? Let's pray. Savior, I love you. God, I'm ever grateful to be in your house once again, Lord, for your precious spirit that we have already experienced. Lord, the prayer time that I know your healing hand has reached down and touched us. For the times of worship and praise that we've so enjoyed. Now, Lord, let your word speak to our hearts. not of any abilities that I might have, but savior because your word is anointed. It's ever settled and it is intended to touch our hearts this night. God, I pray that we will respond to your word, receive it, let it reach us and improve us and change us. Jesus name we pray. Amen. What shall we dream? The passage of scripture that I have read and you're hearing is the post deliverance celebration of God's people who are being delivered from Egypt. They have just crossed the Red Sea. Pharaoh's army has been destroyed and defeated by a miraculous move of God that closed the Red Sea that they had just crossed. And they are celebrating freedom for multiple generations who have been living in bondage and in slavery in Egypt. No more task masters. No more whips. No more chains. No more doing the bidding of those who were over you. None of the threats of the lives of the little ones. But now they have freedom. God has granted them freedom. And the prophetus Miriam is leading a worship service among all the women and she is the way the scripture words it and Miriam answered them. So again, apparently there was some singing going back and forth and there was celebration and I I know not the tomb, but she simply was saying said, "Sing ye to the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously. The horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea." They were having a celebration worship service. And this is exactly what should happen when deliverance has come. When you've been delivered from the bondage of sin, you should be celebratory. It should be a time of giving great praise and honor to the delivering hand of God. But I hope you noticed as we read this short passage that they journeyied in the wilderness. Now, they were on the way to the promised land, but they began journeying in the wilderness. And they celebrated a whole three days >> before somebody got thirsty. >> Everything went great for three days. I'm I'm I'm talking if anybody saw the news last night and you're any way interested in the NBA, some had microphones downtown New York City and when the Knicks after 53 years of uh futility won a world championship, you could hear the the excitement and the celebration going up in the city and everybody got so excited THAT THEY TURNED OVER CARS and burned police cars. I don't think that's what was happening here. >> But they celebrated. But after three short days, somebody said, "You know, we've been delivered, but I'm thirsty. I I need something to drink." God had brought the deliverance and and there had been commandments and directives to uh to uh make provision for leaving Egypt. It wasn't a total surprise. It had been revealed to them that this was going to happen and they they moved according to God. But somewhere along the way, provisions had not been made for frankly the most important commodity that you would need to cross the wilderness and that was lifegiving water. And so they did what anybody would do. They started griping. Scripture says the people murmured against Moses saying what shall we drink? What a responsibility Moses now have. WHAT WHAT WHAT SHOULD WHAT SHOULD WE DO? WHAT can I drink? And scripture lets us understand that there this discontent begin to rise above the worship and the praise. Now, it's easy for us to rebuke and look down our nose phariseically at the ungrateful Israelites who have been delivered that it only took three days for them to start grumbling and murmuring against their leaders. But let me ask us all to look at our own reactions as to how we have acted just a short time after God has delivered us. miracle after miracle time and time again, if we took account truly in this house of the things that God has done to deliver us from sin, to deliver us from the bondage of sin, to provide for us when it seemed an impossible way. when uh he's done miracles and done wonderful things in our lives. Sometimes before we condemn the Israelites too much, it might be good for us to revisit how are we acting and how have we reacted in a short time after deliverance. You see, scripture tells us and likens what has happened to us when we are delivered from sin to water. In John 7, we read John 7:37. In the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood up and cried, saying, "If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. But he but this spake he of his spirit. When you've been filled with the spirit, you should have fresh water spiritually flowing from you, which they believed on him should not receive. For the Holy Ghost was not yet given because that Jesus was not yet glorified. THIS WAS A FORETELLING of the Holy Ghost becoming that lifegiving spiritual water. The Holy Ghost is described as rivers of living water. In another instance, Jesus when he talked to the woman at the well of of Samaria said in John 4:13, Jesus answered and said unto her, "Whosoever drinkketh of this water shall thirst again, but whosoever drinkketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst, but the water I shall give him shall be in a well as a well of water springing up unto everlasting." This again is scriptural reference to the Holy Ghost and the spirit of Christ living in us. So let me ask us, after we've been delivered from sin, after the bondage and the chains of sin have been removed from us, how long has it taken some of us before we've become as the Israelites were? grumbling and complaining about life, failing to once again praise and worship that God has been our deliverance deliverer. You see, if we aren't careful, we'll experience a touch from heaven. We'll experience deliverance from sin, but somewhere along the way, we'll find bitterness springing up in us. For scripture told us that they found this place called Mea, but the water was bitter and they could not drink. What makes water bitter anyway? What can cause water to be bitter? I began researching, thinking about it a little. The H2O in its purest form has very little taste, but it is pure and tastes good to most. So what would make water bitter? One of the things that easily makes water bitter is contamination. If you contaminate something, it is infected with another agent. It's defiled. It's polluted. It's tainted and something unh wholesome and undesirable has been introduced into that water. Sadly, I run into some who once upon a time God delivered them from sin. God did great things in their life, but somewhere along the way, they've allowed some type of contamination to get into their life. The wonderful water that should be springing up from inside them has become contaminated and become bitter. One of the saddest statements that you can hear in conversation to someone is I used to go to church. >> I used to be apostolic. >> I used to be Pentecostal. And invariably when you talk to someone that makes that statement, it will be followed if you give them a half a chance of a spewing of contamination and bitterness of something that happened or something that hurt their feelings and caused them to become bitter. Folks who were once wrapped up in doing a work for the Lord and going to church now have nothing good to say about being part of the church. They have nothing good to say about God's people. Whether they were wronged or not, they have found a contaminant causing that well of living water to spring up now to be bitter. Sadly, I've even run across those who carried the gospel, preachers and ministers, who have left the tenants of the faith only to become bitter word merchants that rather than building faith and preaching deliverance, find the pullpit just an opportunity to throw off on what they used to be and where they've come from. Second Peter 2 described it this way in verse 17. These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest to whom the midst of the darkness is reserved forever. For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lust of the flesh, through much wantedness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. Yes. If you wonder what I'm talking about, I'm speaking to the saints of God tonight and those that would hear me online. If God has given you his spirit and there's been a well of water flowing from you, it's a terrible thing to find yourself contaminating that wonderful gift that God has given you with bitterness and angriness and hurt feelings and struggles >> in your life. It goes on to say, "While they promised them liberty," have you heard those who have once preached the tenants of the faith say, "Oh, I've got A NEW MESSAGE. I'VE GOT NEW MINISTRY. I'M GOING TO TELL YOU HOW TO GET LIBERTY FROM THE BONDAGE." AND THEY CALLED THE CHURCH BONDAGE. Verse 19 said, "While they promised them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption. pollution has entered in them. Somewhere, somewhere along the way, an agent of pollution has caused bitterness to enter in. For of whom a man is overcome of the same as he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world, they got delivered >> through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they again entangle their end and are and overcome. The latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them that they had not known the way of righteousness than after they have known it to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. Wantedness is the term it uses. If you look up the definitions of wantedness, lewd, sexually promiscuous, lustful, merciless, inhumane, undisiplined. Think about it just a moment. It's sobering to think are there are those that the precious gift of the Holy Ghost has once flowed from them, but some agent has entered in and polluted that precious gift. 2 Corinthians 11:3 says it this way. But I fear lest by any means as the serpent begal or deceived Eve through his subtlety. So your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. Corrupted or polluted. Heaven help us WHEN SOME NEW DOCTRINE COMES ALONG, SOME IDEOLOGY THAT'S TRYING TO BYPASS THE PRECIOUS SIMPLICITY OF THE SALVATION message >> and pollutes. For if he that cometh preaches another Jesus, I'm here to tell you I'm finding too many that's preaching another Jesus rather than the Jesus of the word of whom we HAVE NOT PREACHED OR HAVE RECEIVED another spirit which you have not received or another GOSPEL WHICH YOU HAVE NOT ACCEPTED. You might well bear with them. You better resist those things. For you see, I heard a preacher one time who had once walked in all the truth of who Jesus is and felt like he was now preaching a deliverance liberty message. And he began making statements like this. Preacher, if you've gone to a city and you've been pastoring there for 10 years and you've only got 15 or 20 people. He said, "You ought to close up shop and go sit in a church and get real pastoring over you." Now, that was real easy for this guy to make this statement. Uh I I happened to be with Bishop when I heard that statement. And uh this same guy that made this statement, now if you're trying to figure out where he was from, he was from north or south of I40, east or west of I75. Okay? >> So don't matter who it was. He I certainly don't want to give his name any pullpit time. >> But I was sitting WITH BISHOP. THIS GUY MADE THIS STATEMENT. TWO statements he made. He said this having 10 or 15 for 10 years. Look at listen it takes a while to birth the church. >> And I'm thankful for our Missions America pastors. This church has not been the size that is now always. It had to start somewhere with folks holding the line and growing. But he said he said in the city that I pastor in, he wasn't elevating the apostolic churches or the full truth preaching churches. He said, and he named a certain movement that I won't give pulpit time to either. HE SAID THEY'RE BUYING THEIR carpet by the thousands of yards. Well, if how you buy your carpet determines your success in God, then the world's carpet in their athletic fields. But he went on to say, "In my city, every week there's x amount of people from this movement that are receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost." Well, the numbers he gave when he said it, I saw Bishop immediately go to his pocket and get the old trusty ballpoint pen and go click. He got his little book out that he carried. And I saw him. He started doing some math. He said, "Isn't that amazing, son?" He said, 'In two months, everybody in this great big metropolitan city is from will have the Holy Ghost if his numbers are correct. WHAT ARE YOU SAYING? I LIKE A GOOD REPORT, but I want honesty and integrity, TOO. DON'T THROW OFF ON WHAT GOD IS DOING. WHETHER IT BE SMALL, WHETHER IT BE MEDIUM OR SO-CALLED LARGE, GOD'S DOING A WORK. DON'T YOU LET THE ENEMY CAUSE YOU TO BE CORRUPTED WITH SOME POLLUTED IDEA BECAUSE IF YOUR NUMBERS DON'T MATCH SOMEBODY ELSE'S NUMBERS, YOU'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING FOR GOD. GOD'S GOING TO WORK THROUGH YOU. HE'LL IF YOU'LL JUST LET HIM WORK THROUGH YOU. JUST LET HIM USE YOU WHERE YOU ARE. QUIT QUIT COMPARING YOURSELF TO ANYBODY ELSE. JUST FOLLOW THROUGH WITH WHAT HE'S CALLED YOU TO DO. I don't want a polluted message. A message of oh, WE COULD GROW OUR CHURCHES TO THESE SIZES IF WE JUST QUIT PREACHING THIS JESUS NAME APOSTOLIC STUFF AND BECOME A BIT MORE MAINSTREAM. I will not compromise who we are and whose we are and what God has revealed to us for any number, any size, any evaluation of so-called success by the world looking in. Thank you. >> You know, through the years, I've had the the privilege and the the pleasure of going to a lot of camp meetings and uh as a kid going to campgrounds and we honestly here in the tri-state district uh we've been blessed to have some large buildings and what we call camp meetings is almost like a conference. But I've been to sure enough camp meetings with sure enough campgrounds and all that sounds real exciting. But let me tell you some of the things I've also experienced at those places. It seems like for some reason when they put up a campground, a real true campground, they never have good water. It will either smell like sulfur or it'll have iron in the water. You go in to the bathtub and try to run you a tub full of water and it's kind of a a tan brown. Looks a lot like sweet tea. >> You're talking about bitter water. You try to take a Some of you folks been to camp meeting. I I I can see you the amen in your head nod try to get a taste of water and you if you're near a mirror the face you make a you start and before long if you stay there very long if you wash your clothes your clothes all start smelling like that stuff your your toothbrush tastes like that stuff same thing if you in the days before they had a whole lot of water purification. Some of you folks have traveled to Florida. I love going to Florida occasionally, but you ever your water ever tasted like ocean water? You know what I'm talking about. Even the ice had this twang to it. There's an agent in there that I'm not used to. Let me tell you, I DON'T WANT THE PRECIOUS GIFT of the Holy Ghost to be contaminated when with any pollutant that will change who we are and MAKE US A BITTER PEOPLE. I WANT to have the purified, CLEAN, HOLY SPIRIT FLOWING STILL FROM US. WELL, let me move quickly for a pollutant will make the water bitter. But another thing will make water bitter and that's the water being stagnant if it's not moving. It's not active. When I was in boy scouts, they taught us first of all to plan ahead and take fresh water. Also, we carried these little purification tablets with us. So, if you were uh could not find water, you could purify the water or a fil have a filtration system or boil the water. And they said, 'If all else failed and you had none of that at your disposal, the one thing you should look for was running, flowing, moving water, not stagnant, still water. >> A spiritual life that cannot be moved and that has become inactive will make one bitter. Amen. >> Several years ago when we got to visit Israel, we visited the Dead Sea. I looked up a few of the particulars about the Dead Sea. It's approximately 561 square miles of water. It has no outlet and no drainage. The only way water leaves the Dead Sea is through evaporation. It's filled by the Jordan River, water's flowing in, but because it is not being emptied and flowing, the water from the Dead Sea is 25% salt. Seven times saltier than any ocean. No fish live in that environment. It's the lowest surface body of water on earth. When we visited that place, there were some wanted to go swimming in. In fact, brother Michael Mopin was the first one in the water when we went and brother Michael will tell you, he said, "I've never been able to float so good as I did in the Dead Sea." He said, "I just laid back because there was so much salt in the water." When nothing moves you spiritually anymore. When you've heard it all, no song, no message, no skit, no drama, no speaker can evoke a spiritual response from you greater than a yawn. You may be finding yourself becoming stagnant and unmoved. AND THAT WILL CAUSE BITTERNESS to enter into your life. >> If the only outlet you've got is to get steamed and evaporate, stagnation and contamination can lead to a lethal poisoning of yourself spiritually. So what needs to happen? Maybe we need a sweetening in our water. The children of Israel were grumbling. They were needing water. Maybe there's a sweetening agent that we're needing to get in our water. Hebrews 12:14 said, "Follow peace with all men in holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord, looking diligently, lest any man fail the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness spring up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled." Peace and holiness are sweetening agents. If your spirit has become bitter, let me tell you, you need to be asking the God of peace to bring fresh peace into your life. You need to revisit holiness in your life. Not homeliness, not distancing yourself, but instead saying, "God, I want to be holy before you. I want to live a holy life." You see, some of us think we know what it's like to be thirsty, but we we really don't. I mean, there's every kind. You go in most grocery stores, you can find multiple aisles of every kind of drink to quench your thirst. That's possible. I mean, they will have the sugar version, they'll have the diet version, then they'll have the zero version. I mean, we used to just drink water. But now it's Dani or Saratoga or Perriier or Deer Park or or Sam's Purification, whatever your choice is. I mean, we we have designer water now. We We don't One of my favorite places to eat. I like to go in Firehouse Subs, folks. They got a machine in Firehouse Subs. I looked it up. It will give you over 175 drink combinations from one machine. We don't really know what it's like to be thirsty. I mean, there's water fountains everywhere, even in this building. I remember going to my grandpa's church in Rock Creek, North Carolina. They still the first time I went there, they had uh I thought when I was a kid, I asked mama if it was a prayer room, but it was actually outouses. Just confessing here. They didn't have a water fountain, but on the back seat of the church, they had this pan and it had a dipper in it. And yes, that was a communal dipper. Just how thirsty are you? >> Especially when some someone showed up that needed the Lord but hadn't got saved yet and they had a dip as nothing to the lip. I heard them talk about the they told a story about about one person said they they wanted to make sure they didn't didn't get where everybody else was drinking. So they got the dipper and they tried to drink just as close to the handle as they could. said after church as a fellow said, "Honey, you're the only person I've ever seen dip water like I do." Now, if you're squeamish and I made you gross out, I apologize, but how thirsty are you? DO ARE YOU REALLY THIRSTY FOR A MOVE OF GOD IN YOUR LIFE, OR HAVE YOU LET bitterness slip in somewhere? HOW HOW THIRSTY ARE YOU? DAVID SAID WHEN HE WAS in the wilderness of Judah, I would call it the WILDERNESS OF PRAISE. HE SAID, "OH GOD, thou art my God, EARLY WILL I SEEK THEE. MY SOUL THIRST THIRSTETH FOR THEE. MY FLESH LONGETH FOR THEE IN A DRY AND THIRSTY LAND WHERE NO WATER IS TO SEE THE POWER AND THY GLORY. SO I HAVE SEEN THEE IN THE SANCTUARY." I'm here to tell you, I DON'T LIKE TO GO MUCH LONGER WITHOUT SEEING A MOVE OF GOD AND THE POWER OF GOD IN my life. DON'T LET ME GO AROUND BITTER AND DON'T LET ME GO AROUND WITH A SPIRIT THAT HAS NO LONGER A DESIRE FOR A MOVE IN my life. You see, scripture tells us in Matthew 5 and six, blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness. Are you thirsty for righteousness? Or do you want to settle for a spiritual life of bitterness? we can become stagnant and satisfied with the status quo rather than wanting a fresh move of God and a fresh flow of the spirit of God. You see, I've heard Bishop use this example and I'll use it again. If we aren't careful, we can be in the way of serving God for so long that we we can become a little bit as spiritual elitist evaluators. >> Oh, I get a little bit pheriseical. This is my pheriseical voice, by the way. get to looking down our nose at others and I'm going to evaluate their worship and their praise. I I'm going to evaluate the preacher. P Bishop once compared it to a wine taster. Wine tasters do not drink the wine. They'll have the wine set out and they'll pick it up and they'll good East Tennessee southern word. They'll slosh it around in their mouth and then they go they'll spit it out because they're evaluating. Sad to say, I see sometimes in our walk with God, we hit we get sermon tasters. I Oh, that was a wonderful message. I'm glad you preached that to everyone else. >> Oh, praise team. I'll give that song a seven, but I don't know if I could dance to that or not. Let me tell you, when you really get thirsty, when you really get a desire, a hunger, and a thirst for righteousness, you're not going to be so particular. YOU'LL BE SAYING, "GOD, get me to your house. I I I I want to hear some good preaching. I want the power of THE HOLY GHOST TO FALL. I I'M NOT THERE TO EVALUATE EVERYBODY ELSE, BUT OH GOD, I WANT TO BE IN YOUR PRESENCE. POUR YOUR SPIRIT OUT ON ME. I NEED A FRESH INFILLING. I NEED AN INFUSION. I NEED FRESH FIRE, FRESH WATER. I NEED AN OVERFLOW. I NEED AN OVERFLOW. HALLELUJAH. Stand with me. Praise team. Get ready. Exodus went on to say, "And when they came to Mea, they could not drink of the waters of Mea, for they were bitter. Therefore, the name was called Mea." And the people murmured against Moses, saying, "What shall we drink?" And he cried unto the Lord. Moses said, "God, I need an answer. You've delivered these people. You've put me in charge. Now I I need a special answer right now. >> And the Bible says, "And the Lord showed him a tree which when he had cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet." And there he made for them a statue and an ordinance. And there he proved them. And here's what he said. A miracle has been done now. And he said, "If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God," listen to what God's trying to say to you, "and will do that which is right in his sight." Listen and then do. I will give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes. I will put none of these diseases upon you. You're not going to have any sickness from polluted water because I'm cleansing it. I will put none of these diseases upon them which I have brought upon the Egyptians. Now, you remember what God put the Egyptians through? all the plagues, including the water being turned to blood, THE PLAGUES OF FLIES, ALL ALL THE THINGS that the Egyptians went through. He said, "I'm going to put none of those diseases on you if you'll hearken, if you'll listen, and then you'll do." >> And notice what happened. Verse 27 says, "And they came to Ilim, where were 12 wells of water and three scoring 10 palm trees." There were 70 palm trees, and they encamped there by the waters. God sent them to an oasis. Listen, if you will not let bitterness, don't let anything pollute your walk with God. If you will not allow yourself to become stagnant, but instead you'll let the sweetness of holiness, the sweetness of peace come in and sweeten the waters. HE HE SAID HE SAW A TREE. God gave him a revelation. Man, I hope a tree don't have to fall on us to get our attention. But the real truth is there's a tree I see we call the old ragged cross. You see, there's a tree that I see that we look toward that brings healing, that brings sweetness, that brings power, that brings forgiveness, that brings authority. I know not your situation in this house tonight, but I would ask us all to look down inside ourselves. And could we just a moment start saying, God, is there anything that's causing me to be bitter? Is there any agent? Is there any situation that would keep the fresh flow of the sweet Holy Ghost from being free in my life? Could we talk to the Lord just a moment? Savior, I love you. God, I come before you tonight grateful for your power in your presence. God, you know the temptations that will sometimes arise that would cause us to forget your deliverance that you've given us from sin. God, the terrible things that sin was doing to our life, the bondage of sin that was wrecking our very existence that you've delivered us from. Lord, we may be going through a wilderness experience, but God, let the power of the Holy Ghost flow sweet and fresh in our lives. Lord, don't let me get bitter. God, keep bitterness from me. Lord, don't allow a root of bitterness to spring up and defile many, those who I would come in contact with. Instead, Lord, let me look back to the cross. Lord, let your sweetening agent come in so freely in me this night. Lord, if there's anything in my way that would cause me to be bitter, I pray that you would take it out this night, I'm trusting you and believing you for it. This altar is open right now. If you'd like to just talk to the Lord a little while, I'd encourage you to step out. Whatever you might have need of, God has the answer. He wants to sweeten every spirit. Let's worship him together. Let's come for a season of prayer. Hallelujah. Sing it unto the Lord. Hallelujah. I keep me on your mind. God, I'm just grateful. >> Are you grateful tonight? >> I'm just grateful. >> Are you grateful? Hallelujah. All my life you've been right here by my side. God, I'm just grateful for you. >> Just grateful. >> God, I'm just grateful for you. We were that you keep me on your mind. God, I'm just grateful for just grateful. I'm just grateful for you.
