Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
A message from the Master: the template
- He reads from Luke 4, beginning at verse 14: Jesus returns in the power of the Spirit, comes to Nazareth, stands up in the synagogue and reads from the prophet's book — 'the Spirit of the Lord is upon me.'
- It was Jesus' custom to be in the synagogue on the sabbath: he lived what he preached before he preached it.
- Jesus was prepared — he found the place where it was written; if we are going to do a work for God we ought to be prepared, and that does not stop at the pulpit.
- Preparation is essential, but anointing is just as essential: prayer is the spiritual preparation behind everything we do in the house.
Scriptures: Luke 4:14-21
The itemized mission
- He preached the gospel to the poor — those poor in substance, and those poor in spirit who did not yet know who stood among them.
- He was sent to heal the brokenhearted: broken people come through our doors looking for an answer, not to be beaten down.
- He preached deliverance to the captives, liberty to the bruised, and recovering of sight to the blind: the church must have deliverance, where people leave free.
- He knew when to close the book: the length of a service does not measure its depth — we need quality church, ready and prepared.
Creating an atmosphere for deliverance
- The psalmist's prayer — 'teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth' — joins praise to deliverance: 'thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.'
- He gives the narrative of Matthew 17: the disciples could not cast the devil out of a man's son, and Jesus answered 'because of your unbelief' — this kind goes out only by prayer and fasting.
- Spiritual preparation is the atmosphere-maker: 'study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed.'
- A church that only operates in crisis mode has made an excuse never to be prepared; preparation prevents most crises.
Scriptures: Psalms 86:11-13; Matthew 17:14-21; 2 Timothy 2:15
Keep a good name: the fame of the name of the Lord
- The queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, and came to prove him with hard questions.
- Solomon's fame came because he had lifted up the name of the Lord; if we lift up Jesus, everything else will take care of itself.
- She saw the house, the table, the servants and their apparel, and said the half had not been told her: how the house of God is kept tells the world whether the message is important.
Scriptures: 1 Kings 10:1-7
Decently and in order
- Paul thanked God that he spoke with tongues more than all, yet in the church he would rather speak five words with his understanding than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
- 'Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men' — grow up, and get over small offences quickly.
- He closes the chapter where Paul closes it: 'covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues; let all things be done decently and in order.'
Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 14:18; 1 Corinthians 14:20; 1 Corinthians 14:39-40
Make a joyful noise: praise that brings deliverance
- The psalmist said make a joyful noise unto the Lord — 'make' means to cause it to exist; our services should be joyful, serving the Lord with gladness.
- 'Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.'
- Upon Mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness: holiness is not bondage, it is freedom.
- Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises at midnight in the jail, and the prisoners heard them: praise is how somebody else in bondage hears deliverance.
- Joel said whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered — salvation and deliverance both come by calling on Jesus.

today i want to take us straight to the word that's where i want to be this morning i want to be found in the word i'd call your attention to the book of luke the fourth chapter luke the 4th chapter and we'll begin reading at verse number 14 luke 4 14. and jesus returned in the power of the spirit of into galilee and there went out a fame of him through all the regions round about let me pause here and give you a bit of context this is a time that jesus was at his height in popularity among those followers who were becoming acquainted with his message and there was fame of him he was at the zenith as we sometimes say of of popularity and notice and he taught in their synagogues being glorified of all and he came to nazareth apparently he's going back home to preach where he had been brought up and as his custom was he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day and stood up for to read and there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet isaiah and when he had opened the book he found the place where it was written and the spirit of the lord is upon me because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted to preach deliverance to the captives and the recovering of sight to the blind to set at liberty them that are bruised to preach the acceptable year of the lord and he closed the book and he gave it again to the minister and he sat down and the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened to him and he began to say unto them this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears for a few moments i would speak to you on this subject a message from the master a message from the master let's pray savior we love you lord we're so grateful for your precious presence that we've already experienced in this service lord for the praise that's gone up the blessings that have come down lord i thank you for the calm assurance that your hand is on everything the peacefulness that we feel in this house god i pray now that we would hear from you through your word that we would accept and receive all that you have for us this day in the name of jesus we do pray amen a message from the master jesus is indeed the master of every situation and he also is the master teacher and preacher the passage of scripture that i read in your hearing is an example a template if you will a pattern for being a successful soul winner witness and preacher i know there are books that have been written that most shelves will never hold on how to be a successful public speaker and how to be a wonderful preacher but jesus gives the greatest example in this passage of techniques and strategies that should be a road map to all who want to be a part of a successful church and to be successful soul winners i want us for a few moments this morning to examine jesus message when i was attending the university of tennessee one of the classes that i had to take was public speaking and i'm i was thankful for it and public speaking was an amazing class to look at a secular view on the way one should present a subject and as i sat in those classes and participated you had to give certain types of speeches you had to have things prepared and show outlines and they also played excerpts and complete presentations of many wonderful speeches throughout history and you were supposed to critique those and you were supposed to identify the main subject matter and the main points that were being presented and what made those speeches successful so as i begin reading jesus presentation my history and my uh education from the past begin to rise up and just to examine how jesus presented when he was preaching in the synagogue you see this was more than just a polemic presentation it was more than excellent exegesis it was more than a powerful oratory but this was an example of a message and how we have the opportunity to present the gospel and understand the gospel so i want to dissect it with you just a bit notice in verse number 16 the first thing we see that it was jesus custom to go to church on the sabbath day i learned a long time ago the success to being a good teacher is that folks learn by what you say by what you do but most importantly by what you are jesus would not have had the authority to teach had he not been a consistent attender to church on sunday it's one thing to tell everybody else what they should do and how they should live and what will make them successful but do you live it the first thing we find is jesus lived what he was preaching it's a great example for us as soul winners if we're going to witness to others we need to live it we need to be what we're witnessing about we need to be influenced by what we are taught and what god's word would have us to be but then we go on verse 17 it says he found the place where it was written jesus was prepared when he went to preach he didn't get up and have a bunch of field words and say i'm glad amen to be here amen this morning amen i didn't have a lot of time amen to prepare amen so glory to god hallelujah amen i'm just going to find a place amen in the scripture and amen put my finger on it and preach and then when no one responded he didn't say well i feel a bad spirit in here well i do too it's a bad spirit you weren't prepared and you're trying to speak to me jesus prepared listen if we're going to do a work for god we ought to be prepared and that does not stop at the pulpit i promise you i've studied i've prayed i've prepared and i want god to do the work but that does not stop at the pulpit if you're going to play an instrument you need to practice and you need to pray if you're going to sing a song you need to practice you need to be at rehearsal all the time on time and you need to pray if you're going to operate a camera if you're going to be upstairs in the sound booth or the technology booth you need to prepare and pray this stuff don't happen by chance if you go if you're going to be a greeter prepare to be a greater what does that mean that means you get here on time and get here early you look nice you look fresh you're greeting folks you're the first person people see when they come into the place they have made their mind up before they get to hear our pretty songs or my pretty message whether they're coming back if you haven't greeted them right if you're going to be an usher be the best usher that's on time that you're at your post and you're doing your on and on and on you see he was prepared it was his custom and the bible says he stood up and read many bible scholars would tell you the custom of that day when they talked philosophies and when they discussed their opinions in the synagogues they sat down it was an intimate atmosphere but the custom also among the jews was if they read the law or they read from the words of the prophets they stood up it was even against their spiritual laws of etiquette to lean against anything jesus knew the custom and he knew the gravity of what he had to say and he took the posture now i'm not talking about our bishop when he has had an issue and he had to sit here don't you love that intimate time when we have bible study with him it's wonderful it's beautiful but suffice to say jesus was also an example that he understood his environment he understood what he was doing he stood up [Music] and he said the spirit of the lord has anointed me to preach the gospel let me tell you preparation is essential but anointing is just as essential i can prepare you some speech some oratory presentation something that i've read someplace else but it cannot replace having the anointing of the holy ghost and that only comes through spiritual preparation being on your knees talking to god yeah prepare to play but you've also got to pray to play prepare to greet but you need to pray to greet everything we do we need to have a prayer life that we've talked to god and the anointing the unction of the holy ghost if you will is there he knew his audience as he began to speak in the synagogue he knew his subject matter notice he began to itemize he said the lord or the spirit of the lord hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor he said i'm going to talk to some folks that may not be as well off as we are i'm going to preach the word this can be both a figurative and a natural example there were probably some there that had very little substance but there was also the likelihood that he was speaking to those who were poor in spirit who did not have a revelation of who was in their presence even at that moment and he continued on he said he sent me to heal the brokenhearted when folks come through our doors first apostolic church we should have the answer for being brokenhearted there's going to be a lot of broken people come through our doors they're not coming through to be beat up and abused let me say that again folks are going to come through those doors that are broken they're not coming for me to beat them over the head and tell me how nasty and dirty they are listen sin is nasty sin is dirty and we're going to speak against sin but we're going to love sinners when they come through those doors who are broken they're looking for encouragement not to live the way they've been living but they're looking for an answer they're looking to find jesus we've got to help heal the broken when they come through our doors [Applause] he went on he said i'm here to preach deliverance to the captives we're going to have a lot of bound folks coming through the doors they don't even know they're bound there's habits of sin there's horrible situations that have occurred in their life and they're feeling so restricted they're feeling so bound oh they have the liberty that man calls liberty but they're bound by all the chains of sin their life is in such turmoil they've got so much trouble their relationships are on the rocks their health may be in trouble their finances are destroyed and they're coming bound by all of those chains we've got the answer we're here to preach deliverance we've got to have deliverance services at first apostolic church i want people to come through the doors and when they leave we've given them jesus and they feel free not going out of this place bound [Applause] to give liberty to the bruised no one's coming to be beat up more there's going to be the loss coming to say i need somebody to care about me someone to love me someone that has the answer to recover sight to the blind this was both a spiritual and a natural application there's folks that may have physical 20 20 vision but they're spiritually blind as a bat when they come through the doors they've been so blinded by man's philosophies by man's education they're so confused they don't even know who jesus is they're not sure if god really exists and all the time they're walking in darkness we have the light we have the healing for those who are blind to preach the acceptable year of the lord he let them know who would understand now is the time now is the year not some later date christ is for you today and for all those who are aspiring preachers and those who are looking at your clock already he closed the book he gave it to the minister and he sat down if i'm going to use this as an example could i tell y'all i know when to quit as well did you know the length of a service does not necessarily correlate with the depth of a service some of y'all it's a wonder you're not up and running and jumping saying hallelujah as i say that but please hear me are we going to be successful soul winners or not we need to be keenly aware of the time that we live in we're living in a fast food society we're living in an instant gratification society and i don't mind telling you i like being i've been in in church services and camp meetings man it just went all day and all night and i had a wonderful time it was good stuff and i enjoyed it and when the holy ghost moves we're gonna do that anytime we're not gonna dismiss until the holy ghost is finished but i'm not here to be guarded by the clock to say well we've got to be this long or we hadn't had a successful service [Music] some of y'all trying to figure out where is this preacher going with this i'm just telling you jesus preached there's been a few times i've been in services that folks have preached anointing on the folks and preached conviction on the folks and they preached so long they preached it off of them i know jesus is everywhere but i've been in a few services i felt like he'd already headed to the restaurant while the rest of us were still there [Applause] what are you saying preacher i'm saying we don't need to waste a minute when we're here i'm not here to filibuster i'm here to have church we need to walk through the doors expecting to have church we don't need to be worked up pumped and primed we should have already prayed and been prepared if somebody's needing deliverance we're ready for them to get deliverance right now we're ready to have church right now we're ready to sing right now i'm not calling for shorter services i'm calling for quality church we've got a responsibility to follow the template that jesus has set for us [Applause] you see that don't just happen you have to create an atmosphere for deliverance in the house we've all got to be on the same page i'm talking to the church now all you guests can listen in we have to create an atmosphere he preached the deliverance the psalmist said it this way in psalms 86 11 teach me thy way o lord and i'll walk in thy truth unite my heart to fear the name i will praise thee oh lord my god with all my heart i will glorify thy name forever sounds like if you want deliverance you need to start praising the name of the lord you need to have it down in your heart when you get here i will glorify thy name forevermore for great is thy mercy toward me and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell i can't preach deliverance unless i've been delivered i said i can't preach deliverance until i've been delivered if you're in this house and you've been bound by anything before this surface is over you need to be praising god to get delivered from whatever you had need delivered from you see atmosphere is important i said atmosphere is important preaching you're saying we've got to have all of this to have church no i know the scriptures in there where two or three agree together or two or three gather in my name there i'll be jesus shows up for the two or three but he also shows up for the two or three or four hundred too he also shows up when folks are prepared no we don't have to have all this media but you see we're competing with the world you say we're you better know we're competing for the intention of a lost world the attention span is short we've got an opportunity to take the gospel to a lost world and whatever i can do as bait to hook them i'm going to try to get them into the house of god so they can get the holy ghost and enjoy the freedom that we've got the term atmosphere is so important in so many other fields that we in retail sales atmosphere is important in romance atmosphere is important [Music] in competitive athletics atmosphere is important i'll give you a couple examples a few years ago sister jamie and i went on a hunting trip now i'm not going to get into all the second amendment stuff and all that i i'm a gun guy and all those kind of things but let me tell you what we were hunting we were hunting bargains i don't shoot a lot of rabbits or deer or anything like that well we want to we went on a hunting expedition and we decided we were going to atlanta hunting and we ended up in buckhead at lenox mall toode that ain't a hunting place that's a looking place when my kids were young i used to establish those look nights that meant you weren't gonna buy anything we just gonna look in the toy store we went into linux mall and i went into a particular retailer that i happen to like their uh brand me and you walked in they treated you like royalty sir we're so honored to have you in our store is there anything particular that you would like to have and i'm just wanting to look around well could i direct you to this and could i i didn't stop you know could i take you here and i was wanting to look and the key word is look i went over and did you know they had neckties that caused more in my suit i mean and i saw this necktie that i really really liked and i turned it over uh i'm just looking would you like to try that and oh i don't want to touch it but so help me after we looked at linux we went on the real honey hole as they say where the hunting and the finding was good we drove about 40 miles north to dawsonville to the dawsonville outlets and so help me that particular day i went into the dawsonville outlet of this same retailer now there wasn't any atmosphere it didn't smell quite as nice as the retail store did nobody met me at the door and bragged on me i found the same identical necktie for 9.99 with one of those little red tickets on it i said whoop hallelujah [Applause] so i figured that hun other 160 bucks must have been for atmosphere retail sales they value atmosphere you see restaurants indulge themselves in atmosphere i mean how many stars it has by that hotel or rather restaurant that sometimes are in hotels is what i had on my mind i went in one of those too i mean they had a guy he had a thick accent and carried a towel over his arm all the time may i explore the menu with you i just thought we could read it you know and stuff that i couldn't pronounce cost more than i was willing to pay to eat i don't get quite that same atmosphere at some of the fast food restaurants but i do get fed there most of the time atmos you think home field advantage isn't real you think teams don't like to set an atmosphere there will be fan addicts there there will be bands there will be cheerleaders they're not wanting an even playing field they're wanting everything to be as wild and crazy in their home team's favor as possible pastor anthony attended duke university i mean there's supposed to be some elite i mean high brow folk graduate from duke you know but you go to a duke basketball game and they have the cameron crazies they call them i'm talking about future surgeons that's going to be cutting you open i mean their face painted white on this side and blue on that side making all kind of motions that they're creating an atmosphere for victory for their team tell me why we shouldn't have a atmosphere of deliverance when people walk through those doors i don't want the devil to have an even plane i want him to be so uncomfortable when he comes around this place oh dear god i hope they don't go to first apostolic church i know the atmosphere in that place folks get deliverance folks shout folks dance folks get excited we need to have an atmosphere that when folks walk through that door they say there's something different about this place this is not the same old nominal thing i've experienced before there's something different in this house oh hallelujah i told you before creating an atmosphere of deliverance takes preparation i won't read it all but i would ne give you the narrative from matthew 17. you remember the disciples brought a son of a man who had come to them he said my son is a lunatic that's biblical principles did you know we're going to be dealing with a lot of lunatics sin makes you crazy sin makes folks nuts he brought his son he said have mercy on my son he's a lunatic and the disciples prayed for him and they couldn't get any breakthrough they couldn't get any healing and they brought him to jesus and jesus just simply rebuked the devil you know a lot of us the first thing we need to do in some situations is rebuke the devil there's some things that you've been dealing with you've counseled about it you've talked to people about it you've read books about it you need to get on your knees and say in the name of jesus i rebuked the devil out of this thing now some of y'all think i'm getting up here going i don't care what you think i've had it happen rebuke the devil say flee i rebuke you in the name of jesus in this situation in my life [Applause] jesus rebuked the devil and he departed at him and the child was cured that hour then they came the disciples apart from jesus they were embarrassed they said can we talk to you in private i said why could we not cast this devil out jesus said because of your unbelief you didn't believe what you're doing you're going through the motions listen when we start going through the motion to have church we're in trouble we're not going through the motions there must be a supernatural touch of the holy ghost in this house while we're prepared and while we do things because we prepare it can't be just our preparation what did he say he said howbeit this kind go without not but by prayer and fasting that's spiritual preparations preachers teachers evangelists technicians musicians choir members ushers we must be prepared ii timothy 2 15 said study to show thyself approve unto god a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth don't be ill-prepared distracted lethargic inattentive later just plain carnal and lazy preacher you're being rough you know it's great to be able to improvise i love folks who in a an emergency situation in a crisis situation who don't lose their head they're in control and they can make decisions it's great to be able to do that but if you're not careful you'll learn to operate in crisis mode as an excuse to never be prepared you see if you'll prepare you will have less crisis in your life can i give a carnal example if you're one of those hey look i saw the headlines this morning too gas prices we broke a record everybody wants to be record breakers except for now gas prices are record-breaking at an all-time high but you know what if you're one of those people that always run around on less than a quarter of a tank don't be surprised when you don't stretch it far enough and you're on the side of the road in a crisis you know folks who don't run out of gas folks that keep their tank full preacher that doesn't seem very spiritual it's not it's common sense and god put that gray matter between our ears to know how to do those kind of things we don't need to always be operating spiritually in crisis mode and saying all that was just anointing i know god's gonna give me guidance yeah if you'll study you know why scripture comes back to your mind because you've read it and studied it he doesn't just poof magically put it in your mind if you'll study and read then when the situation arises you'll have scripture in your mind and you'll be reminded he'll lead you and guide you in all things preachers that's me don't be unprepared text don't be unprepared teachers don't be unprepared musicians don't be unprepared or have an attitude you say those other people don't and i'm not i'm just talking to musicians right now choir members who never make it to practice but do not dare stand in their place when the choir sings saints who balance their checkbook or clip their nails while their baby disturbs during the preaching jealous singers who can't worship unless they're performing preachers who can't show up to a service at our conference unless they're the one doing the preaching look this is called shotgun preaching i'm preaching shooting all over the tree right now could i tell you in the kingdom of god there is nothing that you have to do that's a right it's a privilege god has privileged you to be able to do whatever you do don't demean it don't look down on it don't take it for granted whatever god gives you the privilege of doing do it with your might be a blessing be a saint be a soul winner let me hasten we must keep a good name if we're going to have the proper atmosphere for deliverance first apostolic church needs to have a good name we need to do things right first kings 10 1 says and when the queen of sheba heard of the fame of solomon concerning the name of the lord she came to prove him with hard questions solomon was not famous because of himself solomon was famous because of the name of the lord he had trusted in the lord which made him famous if we're here about elevating mark mccool we're here about elevating any name brand of our church we got a brand first apostolic church no no no we're here to lift up jesus if we'll lift up jesus everything else will take care of itself the fame of the name for solomon came because he had lifted up the name of the lord and someone from the outside someone else of fame came through the doors if you will she came to jerusalem with a great train with camels that bear spices very much gold precious stones and when she was come to solomon she communed with him of all that was in her heart and solomon told her all of her questions she wanna know why there's folks gonna have some hard questions for us man why y'all do what you do what's all this stuff that i have never been to a church that does quite like these apostolic church what's going on have you got an answer have you prepared yourself or can you still be reminded it's not because of any individual or any particular it's about jesus jesus is providing it solomon told her a question there was not anything hid from the king when he told her not and when the queen of sheba had seen all solomon's wisdom the house he'd built the meat of his tables the sitting of his servants now let me expand and get what i get from this the organization of the house the way in which they did things sent a message that everything that was going on in the house was important folks will not consider our message important if our method is not important if we're cavalier careless last minute all the time on the stuff we do the world's gonna say this must not be real important you see that's those ushers could walk down the aisle and they can receive the offering without having matching jackets that's right the choir can sing and sometimes does without having robes on there's no spiritual significance to any of that stuff but we are organized not at the expense of being anointed but there's a signal that i want this world to see that this place and the things that we do are important and we do them unto the lord we does anybody understand what the preacher's trying to get across today we have such a wonderful opportunity and many times our organization will not save them but it'll get their attention and say there's something so important in this place i need to find out what it is the queen of sheba was so impressed by the meat of the table the city and the servants the attendance of his ministers their apparel his cupbearer his ascension by which he went in and out of the house of the lord there was no spirit the house of the lord was sacred solomon even walked into the house different he approached come look we need to come into the house of god with excitement yet reverence this place needs to be special to us this is the house of god it's a pleasing place it needs to be the place that we create the atmosphere for deliverance she said to the king it was a true port that i heard in my own land of the acts of thy wisdom how be it i believed not the words until i came that and my eyes had seen it and behold the half was not told me the wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which i heard don't defame the name of jesus by your actions or inattentiveness i've got to do better i've got to be the best well this doesn't cost extra but i'm going to say it don't air yours of the church's dirty laundry online shame on you we're not perfect we've all got moles and freckles you don't magnify them online that'll really win souls [Music] boy i better keep preaching jesus said and if i be lifted up from the earth i will draw all men unto me he was speaking of his crucifixion doesn't it make sense that if we will lift up a crucified and resurrected jesus to this world it'll draw folks to him it's not about us it's not about our assembly i want to draw people to jesus yeah i'll read it first corinthians 14 18 says this i think my god i speak with tongues more than you all yet in the church i'd rather speak five words with my understanding that by my voice i might teach others also than ten thousand words in an unknown time many have misinterpreted this passage of scripture and say see this idea of speaking with tongues is a lesser gift now first of all we've got to understand the difference in evidentiary tongues the initial evidence of receiving the holy ghost christ coming to you is speaking with tongues but there's also tongues and interpretation there are tons of edification there are an unknown tongue that edifies the church paul was not teaching the corinthian church against speaking with tongues somebody tells you that they're an error but notice what he went on to say verse 20 brethren be not children and understand he said you know better than that don't act like you're a kid and you don't understand what i'm saying how be it in malice be his children now what does that mean that means folks get their feelings heard about the wrong stuff he said if you're going to be a malicious-filled person and you're going to be controversial and you're always looking for something to argue about he said don't be a child grow up some of us spiritually we need to grow up and quit getting our feelings hurt about little insignificant nothings and we need to get on the page of the same page together about being soul winners but he said in malice be children what does that mean that means two kids they'll be arguing fighting wanting to pull hair and kick shins one minute and three more minutes they're best buds he said if you're gonna be a child and be childish in anything let it be in your mouth get over stuff and quit holding grudges but in malice he said howbeit and malice be children but in understanding be men grow up is what he said he went on to teach and i again it's another message for another time in first corinthians 14 he went on to teach about when the church comes together that if everybody just uh jumped up and started speaking with tongues and there was no organization no order the unbelievers would not understand you'd scare folks dead that's not what the church is about he talked about unbelieving and believing with prophecy and you can read it all it addresses peer pressure but where i want to be today verse 39 and 40 of first corinthians 14 he said he closed it with this he said wherefore brethren covet to prophesy and forbid not to speak with things does that sound like paul didn't want people to speak with tongues to you i mean i don't want to be a child in understanding but what do you get out of that when he said forbid not to speak with sound like it's all right speak with tongues paul doesn't it and he had this addition to he said let all things not just speaking with tongues he said let all things be done decently and in order that means we'll be organized we'll be prepared and when the holy ghost takes over we'll do whatever the holy ghost directs us to do but in the meantime we're going to be prepared to be soul winners musicians get ready i'll hurry so how do we create an atmosphere first of all be reminded again the psalmist said in psalms 101 i preached this a lot this church has heard this before from me he said make a joyful noise in the lord he didn't say let a joyful noise happen that's right that term make means to cause to exist our services should be joyful and yes they will sometimes be noisy he said make a joyful noise to cause to exist occur or appeal you can read all the 100th psalm it's talking about serving the lord with gladness man we ought to be smiling excited about what god is doing we ought to smile so much the world wonders what we're up to and the way you make a joyful noise you do things like this you sing songs of deliverance the psalmist said psalms 32 7 thou art my hiding place thou shalt preserve me from trouble thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance man praise team keep singing i came out of that grave keep saying get up get up get up get up out of that grave i didn't come to church to be taken down and to be put in bondage sing me some songs about deliverance sing me some songs that make me joyous and happy sometimes i get happy by crying that's okay let me tell you one other thing that brings deliverance psalms 32 7. rather oh obed 17. i read you 32 7 obit 17 says but upon mount zion shall be deliverance and there shall be holiness holiness is not bondage holiness is freedom holiness does not restrict you holiness releases you to deliverance be holy live a holiness life before god if you want deliverance stand with me and let me tell you this one of the greatest things that brings deliverance is the simplicity of praising god just praise him in acts 16 25 we're reminded when paul and silas were in jail now that don't sound like a place you want to do a lot of praising i wouldn't be real inspired if i got locked up but the bible says at midnight i don't know why they waited till midnight maybe everything else quieted down and they want to make sure everybody heard what they were doing i don't know but at midnight paul and silas prayed and sang praises unto god and they did it quietly to themselves no it said at midnight paul and silas sang pray prayed and sing praises unto god and the prisoners heard them if others around you are in bondage if you'll learn to praise and let somebody else hear your praise some of us will cheer harder at a little league game some of us will cheer harder at a political rally some of us will cheer harder at the possibility of a raise at work and then we'll come to the house of god and sit on our dead center fold our hands and say somebody entertain me i didn't come to be entertained today i hadn't got time to just have a little feel-good experience somebody needs deliverance in this house today and i'm just believing god if we'll start praising somebody right where you are right now if you'll forget everything else i know you got troubles i got troubles too [Music] [Applause] but i just believe if somebody will throw their hands up right now and start saying god i praise you god i worship you god i said come on rodriguez somebody praise him come on your deliverances were here right now right now your deliverance is here right now yeah yeah come on come and get what you need deliverance is here deliverance is here yes lord yes lord i trust you lord come and claim it come and claim your deliverance in jesus name [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] do you need the holy ghost throw your hands up right now and believe and receive let the holy ghost speak through you [Music] [Applause] [Music] he can do it for you [Music] satan you thought you had me i'm gonna get hey [Applause] [Music] [Applause] i thank god yeah yeah yeah [Music] would you lift your hands and praise jesus right now hallelujah we code scripture so much that says whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved and it's scripture but you know what joel said joel said that whosoever shall call on the name of the lord shall be delivered you see salvation comes when you call on jesus but so does deliverance i want to be with a bunch of delivered folks i want to be with a bunch of folks who have found deliverance and we're going to always have an atmosphere to get deliverance from anything you need first apostolic church thank you thank you for your worship thank you for your praise thank you for your faithfulness moms and dads keep preaching keep pushing your kids get them involved in the church man if you'll sign them up for little league get them involved in the choir man i if they're
