Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Free Born

  • Paul's testimony is read aloud: the crowd cries for his death, and as he is bound for scourging he asks whether it is lawful to scourge a Roman, and uncondemned.
  • The captain obtained his freedom with a great sum; Paul answers that he was free born — a right held by birth, not by purchase.
  • Against that stands the word of the psalmist: every person is shapen in iniquity and born into sin, and by one man sin entered into the world, and death passed upon all men.
  • As long as a person's spiritual citizenship remains in sin, sin keeps beating and whipping; it is the citizenship itself that must be changed.

Scriptures: Acts 22:22-28; Psalm 51:5; Romans 5:12-13

Born Again — A New Citizenship

  • Nicodemus is read: except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God — you must be born again.
  • Romans 6 is read: those baptized into Jesus Christ are buried with him by baptism into death and raised to walk in newness of life, the old man crucified so that the body of sin might be destroyed.
  • Those who obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine delivered to them were made free from sin, became servants of righteousness, and now yield their members to holiness.
  • Peter is quoted — a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation — and the preacher testifies that when he was born again he took on a new nationality: holiness.

Scriptures: John 3:1-7; Romans 6:1-4, 6-7; Romans 6:17-22; 1 Peter 2:9

Holiness unto the Lord

  • Holiness is not a dress code or a denomination but a lifestyle lived unto the Lord: in that day the bells of the horses and every pot in Jerusalem and Judah bear holiness unto the Lord.
  • Worship is offered in the beauty of holiness, and peace and holiness are followed, without which no man shall see the Lord.
  • Titus is read for the aged and the young alike: sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith; the aged women teaching the young women; young men exhorted to be sober minded, a pattern of good works.
  • Liberty must not become an occasion to the flesh: stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and give no heed to fables that turn the church aside.
  • Great swelling words of vanity promise liberty while their speakers are servants of corruption, and those who turn back after escaping the pollutions of the world are worse than at the beginning.
  • The close is a welcome home: the sons of God do not yet appear what they shall be, but when he appears they shall be like him — and those still living in the country of sin are called home today.

Scriptures: Zechariah 14:20-21; 1 Chronicles 16:29; Psalm 29:2; Hebrews 12:14; Titus 2:1-8; Romans 13:14; Galatians 5:1; Galatians 5:13-15; 1 Timothy 1:4-7; 2 Peter 2:18-21; 1 John 3:2

Scripture index: Acts 22:22-28; Psalm 51:5; Romans 5:12-13; John 3:1-7; Romans 6:1-4, 6-7; Romans 6:17-22; 1 Peter 2:9; Zechariah 14:20-21; 1 Chronicles 16:29; Psalm 29:2; Hebrews 12:14; Titus 2:1-8; Romans 13:14; Galatians 5:1; 1 Timothy 1:4-7; Galatians 5:13-15; 2 Peter 2:18-21; 1 John 3:2.

with us we're honored to have you here and we want you to feel the welcome of this assembly I give honor to all the saints of First Apostolic Church what a great privilege it is to be a part of the greatest church family in the world to our pastoral ministerial staff we honor you our Bishop our pastors our elders and all the Ministers of our church we're so blessed to have such wonderful leadership to all of those who help facilitate every service happening there's so many things behind the scenes that if I took the time it would become a bit of an arduous task to let you know all that's taking place that would allow us to ex experience what we're experiencing here today including those who are joining us online in our community around the nation around the world we have so many folks who are working through technology that I don't understand they just point and tell me that it's time for things to happen and the service starts taking place but most of all I'm thankful for our Lord Jesus Christ who makes all of this possible all that we would do is in vain without the power of the Holy Ghost that ministers mildly to us in every service so thank you praise team musicians technicians who facilitate all the musical parts but thank you most of all for being in the presence of the Lord I'm going to let you remain seated but I want us to get into the word of the Lord today calling your attention to the book of Acts the 22nd chapter the book of Acts the the 22nd chapter begin reading at verse number 22 acts 22 beginning with verse 22. and they gave him audience unto this word and then lifted up their voices and said away with such a fellow from the Earth for it is not fit that he should live and as they cried and cast off their clothes and threw dust into the air the chief Captain commanded him to be brought into the castle and made that he should be examined by scourging that he might know wherefore they cried so against him and as they bound him with thongs Paul said unto the Centurion that stood by is it lawful for you to discourage a man that is a Roman and uncondemned when the Centurion heard that heard that he went and told the chief Captain saying take heed what thou doest for this man is a Roman then the chief Captain came and said unto him tell me art thou Roman and he said yay and the chief Captain answered with a great sum I obtained this freedom and Paul said but I was free born for just a few moments this morning I would speak to you on this subject born free Born Free let's pray savior I love you God I'm grateful for your word I thank you for the privilege that we have of studying and having your word to go into our lives Lord let us receive all you would have for us today let us not only hear but let us act on your word for all this we're grateful and thankful in the name of Jesus we pray amen and amen in the passage of scripture that I read in your hearing we find that Paul is giving his testimony his Damascus Road conversion testimony how he had been a persecutor of the followers of Jesus and how he was stricken down on the road to Damascus by great light and a voice out of Heaven spoke to him and he tells of all the events that took place to bring him to being a follower of Christ and in the midst of his testimony our texts said that those he gave audience to these were devout Jews very serial super Pious people who were hearing this and it was if you will upsetting their apple cart and they were not appreciative of a testimony about Jesus to the point they said we need to kill this guy he shouldn't live now that's pretty serious that's not the response that you always want to hear at the end of your testimony it said they begin tearing their clothes off they begin throwing dust in there there was a riot about to start to the point that the Roman centurians and the Romans who were the governmental agency and the policing Factor said take him into custody we're going to question him and we're going to question him by scourging now if you don't understand what questioning by scourging means that means they were going to take whips and beat him and get the answers that they wanted you know that doesn't sound like a great way to get questioned it does it but Paul told them he said is it okay for you to do that to me a Roman who is yet unconvicted and immediately the captain taked and the Centurion to keyed for there were separate laws for Romans then for non-romans I begin studying a bit about this and the noted Bible commentator Adam Clark said this about the statement but I was Freeborn it has been generally believed that the inhabitants of tarshus born in that City had the same rights and privileges as Roman citizens and consequences of a charter or Grant from Julius Caesar Tarsus was a fir was a free not a colonial City Paul's father might have been rewarded with the freedom of Rome for some military services and that it was in consequence of this that Paul was born free but that the city of tarsh has had such privileges appears extremely probable one's rights and this is my statement how one's rights uh as an unconvicted Roman citizen apparently meant that you could not be examined by scourging as far as I'm concerned that's a real good right to have you know I I'm appreciative of the Miranda rights that we as U.S citizens have but I'm just confident if somebody if the policing Powers it be nowadays had the privilege of pulling a whip out I could answer about any question any way they wanted it answered that just doesn't sound like a great thing and it it would be great to have the right until you're convicted they can't beat you with a whip that's what that really meant in fact in fact I am wonderfully glad to have been born in a nation that has the values of Freedom as our nation does the human Spirit Longs and desires for Independence and freedom our history is Rich with those who have fought and died that we would have the freedoms to be here today and assemble together our history is is that of Defending freedom and let me say in all caps underlined and italicized I am thankful to be a native born American and to be from the nation of the United States with all its troubles with all its difficulties I still believe I live in the greatest nation in the whole world and I'm thankful and proud of that I'm thankful to live in a nation that is known as the place that is the land of the free in the home of the brave yes we have many terrible things in our history that we should face and that we should deal with to make us even Freer but we should not denigrate and destroy the freedoms that we have so I would tell you I'm thankful to be a natural-born citizen of the United States of America but today I also want to ask you about your spiritual citizenship how were you born what were you born into the psalmist said this in Psalms 51 5 behold I was shapened in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me I've got news for you every one of us were born into sin Romans 5 12 says wherefore as by one man's sin entered into the world and death by sin and so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned for until the law sin was in the world but sin is not imputed when there is no law sin has its own laws and as long as I'm born into sin I have a nationality of sin in me I am a sinner when I'm born the reason some of us are still getting beaten up and whipped by sin is because our spiritual citizenship still lives in sin we were born in sin and we've stayed sinners sin been beaten you up has sin been whipping you every turn in your life does it seem like something's beating you up and afflicting you it's asking you questions through pain it's putting you through things why you're a citizen of sin you've been born into sin you're a natural Born Sinner but you see you can't as long as you stay in sin and you stay born in sin you cannot make the proclamation as Paul did that I'm free born or I'm born free why you're under the law of sin but I've got some good news for everybody in the house every one of us who are born in sin you have the opportunity to change your citizenship today you have the opportunity I don't care what you were born into I don't care if your family was Aristocrats or Paupers I don't care if you were born to money or you were born to Poverty I don't care if you were born to one of the greatest people in the world or you were born to a drug addict you were born into sin but I've got news for you you can be have your citizenships changed and you can be born again today it's just that simple John 3 1 tells us the story you've heard it before but I would repeat it there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus a ruler of the Jews the same came to Jesus by night and said unto him Rabbi we know that thou art a teacher come from God for no man can do these Miracles thou doest except God be with him Jesus answered and said in him verily verily I say unto thee except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God Nicodemus saith in him how can a man be born when when he is old can he enter the second time in his mother's womb and be born Jesus answered verily I say unto thee except a man be born of water and of spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God that which is born of flesh is flesh that which is born of spirit is Spirit Marvel not that I say unto thee you must be born again we've all been born in sin but I've got great news it's time to have new citizenship it's time to start being a sin stop being a citizen of sin and be born again today hallelujah hallelujah if you want sin to quit beating up on you you must be born again oh but brother McCool what about Grace I just believe in God's grace am I not born again Romans 6 said it this way what shall we say then shall we continue in sin that Grace May abound oh I'm just going to believe and Grace is going to cover it no you can't continue in sin you've got to change your citizenship how do I do that he said God forbid how shall we that are dead to sin live any longer than therein know ye not that so many of us as we're baptized into Jesus I'm getting ready to change my citizenship I've got to be baptized into Jesus [Applause] in fact it goes on and says it like this know you not that so many of us were baptized into Jesus Christ we're baptized into his death therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death that like as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the father even so we also should walk in newness of life you see when you're repent of your sins when you go back go down in water and are baptized in Jesus name this is a symbolic Act of necessity with spiritual significance it is necessary that you be baptized into his death so you're born again and you rise from the water in newness of life you're a new citizen knowing this that our old man is crucified with him that the body of sin might be destroyed that henceforth we should not serve sin I'm no longer a citizen of sin for he that is dead is freed from sin when I go down in a watery grave I am born again to walk in newness of life I'm no longer a citizen of sin I've got a new Birthright [Applause] Romans 6 17 right on down said but God be but God be thankful that you were the Servants of sin but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of Doctrine which was delivered unto you listen some folks are scared to death of Doctrine nowadays don't you be afraid of the apostolic Doctrine don't you be afraid to tell folks you need to repent of your sins you need to be baptized in Jesus name for the remission of your sins your promise the gift of the Holy Ghost your promise that you can live a holy sinless life being then made free from sin because the cert became rather the Servants of righteousness he went on to say I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh for as ye have yielded your members now notice this don't don't let this Slide by us it said for ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity that's what that's past tense that's what you have done that's what you used to be even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness look at it just a minute let that sink in he said ye have in the past yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity but now what's happening you're going to yield your members to righteousness unto Holiness now the way you can interpret this really easy means this if you like to brag about what a good sinner you used to be you ought to brag more about what a good righteous Holiness person God has made you when you change your citizenship don't tell me you were a better sinner than you are a Christian whatever effort you gave in sin some of us worked at being Sinners we did extra just to be bad now I want to be extra good I want to be holy I want to be righteous why I've got citizenship I've got some rights now I've got some new rights I've got fellowship with Christ [Applause] for when you were the Servants of sin you were free from righteousness but yeah I'm running to a lot of folks that seem like they're living a righteous-free life I promise you what fruit had you then and those things whereof ye are now ashamed let me pause and say that we ought not to brag what a good sinner we used to be we ought to be ashamed of what we used to be I've seen too many folks who's testimony turned into a bragging just how honorary they used to be without ever giving credit to how God cleaned them up and changed them and made them a new citizen he said you got to be ashamed that for the end of those things is death don't say oh man if I hadn't given my life to Christ I'd be a star now no you'd be headed for death oh if I hadn't given my life to Christ I'd be the greatest entertainer that used to be no you'd be headed for death you'd find yourself in some drug-induced stupor you'd find your marriage broken all apart don't brag about what you were going to be you were headed for death but you were born again and suddenly I'm a new citizen I've got some new rights that I didn't used to have I've got oh Hallelujah would somebody help me this morning I have some rights I have some privileges that I didn't have when I was living in sin don't tell me you're bound but by living free you're free I'm free Hallelujah verse 22 said but now be made free from sin and becoming servants to God ye have your fruits unto holiness and the end of everlasting are you a servant to sin today are you still a citizen of sin are you a servant to righteousness I'm free I'm free born I'm born free Peter's speaking to the church in First Peter 2 9 said this but ye are a chosen generation your royal priesthood ye are a holy Nation a holy nation yes I'm proud to say I was born in 1958 at Baptist Hospital over on the other side of the river I was born in Knoxville Tennessee United States of America that's my natural nationality see your nationality is the country that you come from that's your nationality that's how I dress that's how I speak that's where I got my culture from I'm glad to be from East Tennessee I'm proud with a Godly Pride but let me tell you when I was born again I was born into the nationality of being Holiness I'm Holiness today that's my next I was born into a holy nation that's how I dress that's how I conduct myself that's the culture that I want to live in that's my nationality today [Applause] when I was born again took on a new nationality I took on a new way to speak I've got a new way of talking I got a new way of dressing I got a new culture that I live in it goes over all natural cultural bounds it goes over all ethnicities I'm holiness [Applause] spiritually when we're born again we are born into a holy nation and you see our God is all about holiness oh surely you're not going to preach that on Sunday morning when you got guests in the house that's the time we need to preach it Proclaim who we are we are a holy nation we're Holiness people why are we holy because his word said be ye holy for I am Holy everything about our God is Holy he's the holy God his word you look at your Bible it says the Holy Bible I mean Webster's Dictionary may be complete and unabridged but it's not the holy dictionary his word is Holy everything about him is Holy Zechariah 14 20 said in that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses Holiness unto the Lord and the pots in the Lord's house shall be like the bowels the rather the bows before the altar yea every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be Holiness under the Lord of hosts sounds like Holiness was pretty important said man put it on the horse's bridle all the bowls if you turn over look on the bottom says Holiness unto the Lord Holiness was important it was important to Proclaim holiness but you see there are too many that really do not realize what Holiness is is if we dress modestly only because of a list of church rules We are following a legalistic dress code oh but if I dress modestly in an effort to practice Holiness unto the Lord now you're on the right track that doesn't mean well if I've been doing it for the wrong reasons I'm just not going to be modest anymore no it's just me we need to be modest for the right reasons and understand why we're doing we're not following a bunch of dress codes we're doing some things unto the Lord why because he's holy and I want to be holy I want to represent him and I want reminders in my life of what I am and whose I am [Applause] I realize this isn't popular preaching even in a lot of apostolic churches today but I am politically unconcerned we are a Holiness Church and that we shall remain we will be Holiness in our dress we will be Holiness in our conversation we will be Holiness in the things that we do yes we have platform standards of dress and appearance it's not to show somebody else how holy we are we do things unto the Lord and we have barriers yes standards and reminders that keep us from this world it separates us from this world why because I'm free citizenship in this thing I was born into a holy nation oh Hallelujah [Applause] but our homeless women practice the discipline of having long uncut hair because of the Angels according to First Corinthians the 11th chapter it is a standard of Holiness unto the Lord over the door of our church when we moved into this new sanctuary we have a stone 16 feet wide and 16 inches tall over the main entrance that says holiness unto the Lord if we practice Holiness for the wrong reason we're not being holy we're being legalistic [Music] if we live a conservative lifestyle free from biases and devices of the flesh for the lone reason so someone else will have a high opinion of our spirituality We are following a behavior code oh but if we live in an attempt to live a sinless life as unto the Lord we Now understand why we do what we do first chronicles 16 29 says give unto the Lord the glory do unto his name bring an offering and come before him Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness now pick it out let's dissect that scripture a minute first chronicles 16 29. given the Lord Glory do what's his name do his name is due our ultimate praise and our ultimate worship he said bring an offering offerings part of holiness come before him that means when you can be in the house of God you need to be in the house of God yes we have Internet Ministry and I'm thankful for everybody that's tuning in glad to have you but if you're in close proximity you need to be in the house of God every time you get the opportunity you need to come before him this is his house this is a holy house Worship the Lord in the beauty of Holiness offerings coming together worship should be done in the beauty not the ugly the beauty of holiness the psalmist said in Psalms 29 2 given to the Lord the glory do unto his name Worship the Lord in the beauty of Holiness Hebrews 12 14 said follow peace with all men and Holiness without which no man shall see the Lord you're not going to see the Lord if you don't live holy [Music] preacher I can't believe you said that I did and the Bible did I'm just reading what the Bible says follow after peace and holiness I believe in both because you see true Holiness people will be Peaceable people true Holiness people won't be going around looking for a fight all the time true Holiness people will not be going around as agitators trying to cause trouble but we preach to the young folks a lot I used to be one but time fixed that so let me a let me speak I'm not going to talk about old folks today okay promise my hand up not going to talk about old folks but I'm going to talk about aged folks because aged folks have a responsibility in holiness let me let that simmer a little bit or marinate as they sometimes say I said aged folks have you reach a certain age Titus said it this way Titus 2 1 but speak now the things which become sound Doctrine I'm going to give you a little more Doctrine about holiness that the Aged men be sober grave temperate sound and Faith charity and impatience aging does not give one the right to be impatient or intemperate the aged women likewise that they be in Behavior as becometh holiness just because you get to a certain age and you've raised your kids and you've got the empty nest don't mean you stop serving God and you stop being Holiness you need to be a better example than you've ever been you [Applause] somebody hear my heart today I want to be a holy church I want to be a holy people I want to be examples to another generation I don't want to be looking back say yeah McCool did this for a while but they started fading away he turned left I respect so much the example my mom and dad had been for me but now hey look next month the next month's almost here one more day I'm Gonna Knock Down 64. some would call that being aged God help me if I stop having sound Doctrine and being an example if I stop being sober great temperate sound in faith and in charity and in patience the age women likewise that they should be in Behavior as becometh wholeness as decorates Holiness not false accusers not given to much wine teachers of good things all right invariably someone will misinterpret this statement so I'll just say it and then we'll clarify later I've seen folks that can look mighty holy but they can be awful ugly in their conversation in their back biting and and they're gossiping they're anything but an example now that doesn't mean because you look holy that everybody's like that I've seen some folks that look pretty bad that act pretty bad as well scripture gave the example of or was it the plate of the saucer the Cup being dirty on the inside but clean on that side you ought to clean the inside and the outside up you need to be holding this on the inside too your appearance is extremely important because you see Holiness is not a dress code I'm talking about being Freeborn now Holiness is not a denomination Holiness is a lifestyle lived unto the Lord it said that they may teach the the aged women I didn't say oh they said aged that they may teach the young women to be sober to love their husbands to love their children to be discreet Chase keepers at home good obedient to their own husband that the word of God be not blessed oh that's so Politically Incorrect no it's Bible if it was good then it's good now nothing has changed give me your movements of so-called Freedom that's taken folks into more bondage more perversion more degradation I'm free I've been pre-born I'm thankful to be in a holy nation today Hallelujah young men likewise exhort to be sober minded in all things showing myself a pattern of good works if you say oh I'm not aged yet well then you're young so this is what you're supposed to do you're supposed to have a pattern of good words in Doctrine showing uncorruptableness you're not a thief you're not a liar you're not corruptable gravity and sincerity sound speech that cannot be condemned that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed listen if folks are going to accuse you let it be they accuse you because you're doing good works and you're following Christ not because you're lying cheating stealing and your word Don't Mean a Thing having no evil thing to say of you oh brother McCool you don't understand I just had a midlife crisis baloney you had a midlife devil getting a hold of you you had the same devil that goes after you when you're young and goes after you when you're aged man up woman up be holy David Bernard said it this way in some Holiness means to imitate Christ to be christ-like the holy person will not gratify the desire of the sinful nature but will put on the personality and mind of Christ Romans said this Romans 13 14 but put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ and make not Provisions for the flesh to fulfill the lust thereof said put on what have you been putting on don't be a put on you need to put on Christ and he said not to make Provisions you know if you're going on a camping camping trip you go by your provisions and you don't want to get out in the woods and you don't any have any canned beans and potted meat all that fancy food that we used to eat on those camping trips some of these young folks said what in the world has potted meat you need enlightening you can't survive a day or two on it don't make Provisions for sin I've heard some folks say well now if you hear I've done this and so you know that that's a lie but if you hear I did this you pray for me you know what you did you just named your prize Satan don't know your heart but he listens to what you say you need to already have it in your mind there are no Provisions for sin in my life don't make exceptions for sin don't make Provisions for the Flesh and for the lusts of the flesh make sure every decision you make in our lives is if I'm putting on Jesus what would Jesus do I don't even need a rubber bracelet to remind me of that what would Jesus do Jesus would do the holy thing and to all the church if you're born free stay free Galatians said it this way Galatians 5 1 Stand Fast therefore in the Liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free and be not entangled again in the Yoke of bondage if you've been born into Freedom when you were born again why would you go back to Egypt why would you go back to sin why would you go back to the bonds of sin Paul spent much of his time writing letters to the churches convincing them not to return to the bondage of fables and Jewish customs much of Galatians was spent discounting the law of circumcision unto salvation because some had a pet Doctrine that they had developed yes I realize that circumcision means removing of the flesh but they had made that a requirement for its salvation and that it was not and and Paul had to say don't go back to those former customs First Corinthians 8 he addressed the non-essentials of eating meat that had been offered unto idols yet that was becoming a doctrinal point he had addressed prejudice toward the Gentiles listen the Apostolic Church must remove all Prejudice from it if you have some kind of prejudices against someone of some different ethnicity in you someone of a different color from you you're wrong it's sinful to have Prejudice in your heart toward anyone or any group of people we need to be loving everyone around us diversity in the church don't mean we accept sin it means we accept every people of every kind of every tongue of every Creed to find the truth of who Jesus is and be part of this family yes First Corinthians 11 he addressed that a woman's long hair was her covering so there was no necessity for a veil as an additional covering in the same chapter he addressed the shame of a man having long hair he was having to deal with those wanting to return to the fables and the Customs that they had been delivered from First Timothy 1 4 says neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies which minister questions rather than Godly edifying which is in faith so do now the end of the Commandment is charity love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and a Faith unfeigned from which some have swerved and have turned aside unto vain janglings designed to be teachers of the law understanding neither what they say no whereof they affirm so it is today with the church World periodically there will be some new movement afoot that will try to direct the church back to the bondage of sin proclaiming that it's liberty Galatians said it this way for Brethren ye have been called into Liberty only use not Liberty for an occasion to the flesh but by love serve one another for all the law is fulfilled in one word even in this Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself but if you bite and devour one another take heed that you be not consumed one of another some have even tried to say that when Paul was saying that circumcision was no effect he was actually this was a type and a shadow that that the church should now have no more modesty standards Paul didn't teach one thing to the Corinthians and then make it of non-effect when he taught the Galatians they were in the same dispensation these writings were all written near the same time whether it's standards of men and women's hair and modesty these were not made of no effect when circumcision became a spiritual issue second Peter 2 18 said for when they speak great swelling words of vanity in other words they can talk a good game they Allure through the lusts of the flesh through much wantonness those things that were clean escaped from them who live in error I've escaped the sin citizenship I'm living in the free citizenship I've got Liberty but you know what happens every once in a while the sin citizenship puts on a membership Drive come back and be a citizen of sin again while they promised them Liberty they themselves are the Servants of corruption for of whom a man is overcome of the same is brought in bondage for if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ they are entangled therein and overcome the latter n is worse with them than the beginning for it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than after they have known it to turn from the body the holy commandment delivered unto them musicians come quick they'll think I'm closing what this really means is with knowledge comes responsibility I said with knowledge comes responsibility the more you know about the love of God the more you've experienced the more responsibility you have to live it and keep living it oh I'm not worried about baby Saints when they come into the church and they don't know all this that and the other they're learning some things and they mess up and they make some mistakes what I'm worried about are those folks that's been in the church for 20 and 30 years and they know better and suddenly they start backing up well I'm not going to follow any of these quote Holiness standards so I don't have to do anything I can just come and see it there's some responsibility that goes along with knowledge don't claim Liberty when you're going back to bondage don't claim Liberty if there's holiness oh I hope you feel my heart today I hope you see this pastor's heart there are some issues I said we have appearance standards for our choir for our platform our leadership I realize some of those things are not Heaven or Hell issues in and of themselves but your attitude toward it can become a heaven or hell issue if you have a rebellious nature and you've got an old nasty Spirit about your spirit can make a lot of things sin that it in and of itself is not a sin hear me today we should have a desire to be as much like Christ as we can to be as the greatest Soul winners that have ever been we must Minister mightily as God has called us and with the things that he's given us knowledge of with the directions he's given us then we should be moving up and moving closer and advancing so I asked you today are you tired of sin beating up on you and scourging you the whipping the drubbing that the enemy's been given you Jesus said you must be born again there's a call today for everybody in the house if you've not yet repented of your sins if you haven't been baptized in the name of Jesus there's a call for you today you must be born again First John 3 2 said it this way beloved now are we the sons of God and it does not yet appear what we shall be but we know that when he shall appear we shall be like him for we shall see him as he is Jesus is coming for a church that's like him it's not him it's like him In the Flesh that we are man woman boy or girl no matter our Natural Born heritage and lineage he's looking for a people who are born again who are like him I've told this before but would be appropriate now several years ago sister Jamie and I went on a missions trip it was our first time out of the country saved a journey I made when I was just a child just over into Canada but it was the first real leaving the country and we went to the country of Chile I had the privilege of preaching the National Youth Conference there in Chile several thousand Chileans worshiping the same God worshiping this the same way and even more vociferous many times than we worship waving banners that said Jesus on them preaching through an interpreter had a marvelous time they were so kind to us it was an amazing thing to visit another country but as we came back into the United States we landed in Atlanta and we landed in Atlanta everybody getting off the plane that we were on we were directed to the Customs line U.S customs and we got in the line all of these folks and there were other airlines from other overseas Journeys that were Landing so there were just a mix of different folks from all parts of the world in this line and we finally got to the front had these little booths those that have been through those you you know what I'm talking about it was all across there and there were Customs agents and the custom agent when I stepped up quite business-like said may I have your passport please and I handed him a passport and he started looking through it and he looked at it and he looked at me he said Mr McCool did you have a good trip I said it did we had a wonderful trip he said welcome home I can't tell you what that did to me when he said welcome home through my mind was flooded the privilege that I had of being back in the nation that I dwell in spiritually today I feel like I need to tell somebody welcome home you might have been wondering away you might have been in the nation of sin but I want to tell you you're home today I want to let you know you have the opportunity Jesus stands with open arms to say welcome home would you stand with me he's saying come on home get out of the country of sin get out of the country of struggle get out of the nation of trial you've been beat up enough by sin I want you to come home today if there's anybody in this house I'm going to give you the first opportunity if there's anybody in this house that you just want to come home I want to open the altar to you first you won't come alone there's going to be somebody who'll come with you they'll pray with you and say hey we're glad to have you home we're glad to have you apart is the one is the one then I want all the family of God I want us to step out saying I'm thankful to be home today I'm thankful for my citizenship I'm thankful I've been born free I'm thankful that I'm Freeborn in Christ would you praise him would you worship him together right now Hallelujah [Music] [Applause] [Music] I am free free I am [Applause]
