could we just entertain the presence of the holy ghost that's in this house a few more moments savior i love you lord i thank you for your reckless love i thank you for your unending hallelujah glory glory glory i'm gonna let you move back to your seats you may be seated here in the sanctuary we greet you today in the precious name of jesus what a privilege it is to see every one of you in the house of the lord i joined with pastor anthony and bishop mccool welcoming all of you so glad that you made it your choice to worship with us today i too want to say how excited i am to have the majors family as part of first apostolic church of knoxville we'll only welcome you for about the first year and then we'll quit after a while but we're glad to have y'all home today glad to have you here at first apostolic church and i see my buddy back there jacob suttles it's good to have you home bro i love you man good to see you and your family with you today there's so many others i don't have guest cards necessarily in my hands but i want to say welcome to you as well we want you to feel at home and feel welcome to worship with us today i'm excited for all the lord is doing for us and i want to remind you one more time next sunday is a very special sunday next sunday is father's day and i'm excited because bishop mccool will be bringing our father's day message there's no one more qualified i'm a witness to that he couldn't even be a father without me [Music] i'm an only child so uh i i don't know if you do this bad and quit trying what all the details of that are but uh uh dad we're excited that you're gonna be ministering to us on father's day be here we have a gift for all the men that will be here and it's gonna be a special drawing for something uh uh that they said had something to do with yeti whatever that means so uh the men you're going to get a chance at some kind of special gift so you'll be here next sunday and i want us to go to the word of the lord [Music] and as we go to the word of the lord today uh there's somebody that's on my heart i want us to be praying for uh faithful listener and watcher when she's not in her home church uh sister darlene gardner down in great state of louisiana this sister kelly's grandmother she's got a bad doctor's report but whose report are we going to believe we're going to believe the report of the lord we're praying for you sister gardener that god's gonna touch you today we'll be praying here in just a few moments i'm gonna let you keep your seats but i wanna get to the word of the lord today calling your attention to the book of second samuel the fifth chapter second samuel five and i'll give you just a moment those who are turning pages or punching buttons on your devices i'll let you know that uh pastor whitley and sister ashley and and easton they're in medora indiana today preaching at that great church so we'll be praying for them second samuel 5 beginning at verse number 17. but when the philistines heard that they had anointed david king over israel all the philistines came up to seek david and dave david heard of it and went down to the hold and the philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of rephraum and david inquired of the lord saying shall i go up to the philistines wilt thou deliver them into my hands and the lord said unto david go up for i will doubtless deliver the philistines into thy hands and david came to bel parism and david smoked them there and said notice the lord hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me as the breach of waters therefore he called the name of that place belperism for a few moments this morning i would speak to you on this subject let god break forth let god break forth could we pray together right now mighty god i love you lord i thank you for your precious presence that we're already experiencing lord i thank you that the praise team has sent an atmosphere for us to receive your word to god i pray that we would receive that word and act upon it let it be encouragement strength and guidance to our lives lord we pray a special prayer for sister gardener today that your healing touch would be with her god we're believing you for all of this in the name of jesus we pray amen and amen let god break forth in our text we find one of the many occasions in which the philistines who were one of god's people's greatest enemies have once again come against them david has just been anointed king of israel thus signifying the end to a bitter civil war that had been taking place between israel and judah saul's house and david's house ii samuel 3 1 for a bit of foundation reminds us what had been going on second samuel 3 1 says now there was long war between the house of saul and the house of david and david waxed stronger and stronger and the house of saul waxed weaker and weaker this divisive infighting had caused many of god's champions who should have been fighting shoulder to shoulder against the enemies of god to instead be at odds with each other there was infighting among them rather than fighting against the philistines the philistines were having to do very little at this time they could just back up and watch god's people who were divided fight among themselves the divisions had roots in david's original victory over goliath and consequently saul's jealous spirit over the adoration and attention that david had received when they celebrated the victory you remember over in first samuel 18 verse number 5 let me read that to you as well for foundation to be reminded division had come out of victory of all things it states and david went out wheresoever saul sent him he was a representative of saul and behaved himself wisely and saul set him over the men of war and he was accepted in the sight of all the people and all so in the sight of saul's servants and it came to pass as they came when david returned from the slaughter of the philistines there's the philistines again that the women came out of all the cities of israel singing and dancing to meet king saul with tabats and with joy and with instruments of music and the women answered one another as they played and said saul has slain his thousands and david is ten thousands and saul was very raw he was upset saul should have been celebrating i've stated before but i'll say it again had saul been a good spin doctor he could have taken credit for every accomplishment that david had he said man i sure was a smart guy to send that little kid out to whip goliath didn't i do a good job appointing david over all of my armies now look at the victories i i sure did a good job he could have spun that in such a way that he could have had more credit because it was his decision to give david that authority and david the bible said did whatever saul asked but instead it said he was very raw and the sayings displeased him and he said they have ascribed unto david ten thousands and to me they have ascribed but thousands and what can he have more but the kingdom and the bible says in saul i'd david from that day forward from the celebration of a slaughter came jealousy enmity suspicion and strife would lose his anointing and develop a spirit of suspicion god help us when we stop being anointed we get suspicious of everything around us when he took his eyes off of god and he started eyeing david division developed let me say this about those women who are meaning well in their celebration be careful when you make comparisons let me tell you all anointed preaching is the best preaching well i like your preaching but man his preaching be careful all anointed singing is the best singing there is well i don't like to hear her saying i like to hear her sing satan will try to divide us even in the midst of our greatest victories be careful that you do not compliment one at the expense of another you see for from this division david would become king of a divided kingdom and take control of judah the remnant those who were still loyal to saul would become israel and division would be there but let me point out to you some of the things that happened during division for a united kingdom being divided now here's what would happen saul his son jonathan his son abinadab his son mel yeshua would all die in battle with the philistines a dozen young warriors would die in a play fight at gibeon when abner of saul's faction and joab of david's faction would match their warriors their best warriors it started out as play fighting and before it was over they began slaughtering each other in a play fight abner would then kill joab's brother isaiah joab and abishii would then assassinate abner during a tweet a treaty between judah and israel when all the time these factions had they been united and had the same goals and not had jealousy and enmity and strife would have been able to defend israel and would have been able to defeat the philistines at every turn the bottom line is jealousy suspicion envy strife among the body of christ only weakens our efforts to fight who the real enemy is how many times have we seen a church family a fellowship or an organization be divided just after great victories because some individual feared that another was getting too much credit or recognition even families can come and get divided because one sibling feels like the other is getting more recognition you see if god is to break forth against the enemy we must put aside our egos our suspicions and instead fight together it doesn't matter which elder prays for you it matters if you're having the prayer of faith prayed over you i've seen times that that prayer lines of elders there would be one elder everybody wanted to get in his prayer line and nobody wanted it don't matter who's praying over you do you have the prayer of faith being prayed over you in jesus name oh i want to be baptized but it's got to be so and so baptizes me and uh oh i we we try to accommodate some of our little ones they're more comfortable with the student past or or or the associate pastor or there's some of the other saints they would rather brother blevins and that's not what i'm talking about but there's something that it has to be this certain individual that baptizes you it don't matter who baptizes you were you baptized in jesus name for the remission of your sins be careful about comparisons [Applause] and could have preached a little personal doctrine here y'all won't get too mad at me listen if you've already been baptized in jesus name you don't need to go to the middle east and get baptized again in the jordan river once you're baptized in jesus name that's for all it don't matter where and what water it's if you've had the name of jesus invoked over you you need to be baptized in jesus name just as quick as you can find water you need to be baptized in jesus name [Applause] making a lot of friends here it don't matter what water you run we've had a few folks oh i've got to be baptized in running water bible don't say that well if we need to we can turn the faucet on and open the drain you need to be baptized in jesus name for the remission of your sins we got to remember who the real enemy is and stop letting divisions and strife divide us if you want god to break forth we need to be together in this thing so you see if we read on in 2nd samuel 5 it says then came all the tribes of israel to david and hebron and spake saying behold we are thy bone and thy fl thy flesh there were some wise voices from the faction that had been following saul after saul's death they came to david said we're the same flesh we're the same we're together we're bone of your bone flesh if you're flesh in times past when saul was king over us thou was he that led us out and brought us in israel and the lord said to thee thou shalt feed my people israel and thou shall be captain over them there were some wise voices that said we've got to stop this division they came the elders of israel they came to david at hebron and they said let's make a league david verse 3 of that same passage so all the elders of israel came to the king came to the king to hebron and king david made a league with him in hebron before the lord and they anointed king david king over israel you see something started happening when they started laying aside all those past prejudices something started happening the philistines had been sitting on the sidelines letting them fight amongst themselves sometimes the devil don't even have to show up and do anything if as long as we fight amongst ourselves he can just say seek him on each side so i want you to notice what happened second samuel 5 10 it said and david went on and grew great and the lord of god the lord god of hosts was with him could i tell somebody today you need to go on and grow great let me say that again there's somebody under the sound of my voice you need to go on and grow great quit looking back over your shoulder what you've been through get rid of all those hurts and all those things that you've been holding you need to go on above it and grow great let the holy ghost make you great oh i just can't let go of the past i've been injured i've been hurt go on and grow great today verse 12 said and david perceived that the lord had established him king over israel and that he had exalted his kingdom for his peoples his people israel's sake do you have spiritual perception today it said david perceived the lord and established him king over israel do you have true spiritual perception as to what god has called you to do now let me get where some of us live sometimes don't ever be guilty of diminishing what god has called you to do by putting just in front of it i'm just an usher i'm just a greeter oh they're not going to miss me i i'm just a tambourine player i i'm just a musician i'm just a technician i'm just a teacher i'm just a preacher listen there's no just to put in front of it hear me today whatever god has called you to do have the perception like david to say i've been established to do this thing whatever god's called me to do i'm going to give it my best effort there's no just perceive that god's called you to do whatever you're doing don't put just and belittle in front of it it's imperative that we realize everything we do in the kingdom of god is important don't let it be minuscule don't let it be minimized let god use your calling to win souls those who make the outside of the building look good did you know you minister to people when they pull up and they see a clean fresh building on the outside and they walk in the doors and they find a nice clean building on the inside many times the impression has already been made whether they're going to come back before they get to hear my fancy preaching creators and ushers there's folks that you'll shake their hands you'll show them to their seat you'll give them a kind voice and the determination will be made whether they're ever coming back or not before they ever hear a music note played before they ever hear a welcome from the pulpit don't put just in front of what you do be thankful that god has a job for you to do it's imperative that we not allow infighting or personal prejudice desires that would render us ineffective against the enemies of the work of god satan doesn't have to do a lot of fighting when we fight with each other he need not disrupt the service when we're disrupting it ourselves oh but i got some good news when we get anointed and we get united you know who shows back up the enemy devil's been fighting us all week good we must be doing something right looks like there's attack coming from the enemy good we must be doing something right we must be shoulder to shoulder again we must be in on the same page as they say see here's what happened remember our text when the philistines heard that they had anointed david king over israel philistines said uh-oh he's not just over judah anymore israel and judah is getting back together they they knew well who david was they some of them had pictures on their mantle there's old uncle goliath david wiped him out he's the one that took our hero it said and when the philistines heard that they had anointed david king over israel all of israel came to seek david we got to get that shut down quick we don't need any reuniting of forces and david heard of it he went down to the hole and the philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of rephraim let me tell you when the enemy starts showing up and spreading out you better know you must have done something right the holy ghost has been moving we've started working together we're not worried about who's getting credit as long as god's in control and jesus is getting the credit the ultimate acknowledgement of david's anointing was that the philistines wanted to fight again but notice something it would have been real easy for david to let his past victories and his ego take over even now well i've done something good here my reputations got us all back together instead the first thing david did is in verse 19 of ii samuel five it said in david inquired of the lord don't ever think you're so great that you don't have to talk to god anymore to get direction don't think you've got everything figured out preachers don't think you've got all the messages so you don't have to pray anymore sunday school teacher don't think you've got enough lessons together that you don't have to prepare and see what god would have for you musicians don't think you can play so good that you don't have to be anointed anymore it said david inquired of the lord saying shall i go up to the philistines will thou deliver them into my hands and the lord said to david go up for i will doubtless deliver the philistines into thy hand why did david need to inquire david was the giant killer he wrote the proverbial handbook on defeating philistines he probably still had his original sling on in a trophy case somewhere he might have goliath sword on his mantle he might even have a great big skull somewhere in one of his lodges who knows david knows how to handle philistines not so david was looking for fresh direction from the lord now don't mistake what i just said i didn't say he was looking for new direction i said fresh direction but too many folks out here looking for new direction they want to go in a different direction i want to go the same direction i just need fresh guidance on how we're going to get there i i just need the lord to one more time reaffirm this is the way we're going to go up this time and god said go up david inquired of the lord shall i go up to the philistines will thou deliver them into the my hands and the lord said to david go up i will doubtless deliver the philistines and david came to bel perism and david smoked in there and said the lord hath broken forth before me uh before mine enemies before me as a breach of water let me tell you there's somebody in this house today you're needing to let the lord break forth in your life you're needing him to bring a flood he said he broke forth like a breach of waters i'm telling you water is powerful i've seen the videos of the tsunamis that have hit on on the coastal areas the tidal waves that have rolled in i've seen the power of floods flowing in but you don't even have to have a tsunami or a tidal wave or a flood to understand the power of water you can try to do boot in the shoe plumbing like bishop and i did one time when i lived over on deerfield we had a hot water heater go out so we decided we've seen enough folks install hot water heaters we're going to do a plumbing job ourself we're going to save some money so man we we drained that old hot water heater and struggled and fought with it and carried it out and dumped water all over the floor getting it out of the house but we went and bought a new hot water heater and back then we didn't think to take pictures with your phone so bishop drew a diagram of where the hot water heater where the hot water and the electric and all that and so man we went through it and and we bought some of that purple glue that the plumbers some of these guys are plumbers you know where i'm coming from that that purple glue that's supposed to hold uh that all of that plastic pipe or that uh pvc together and one of the issues that had caused the problem with the hot water heater in the first place in our house was i i had a pressure reducing valve that was going out so it was it was blowing out all the washers and the rubber and other than anything it was just and so uh but we didn't replace that you know we just turned it one more time hoping it would slow it down a little bit so we turned the water off we found the water main out by the street we turned the water off and we followed the diagram and we put that together and put that purple stuff on and i believe we let it dry close to maybe five minutes i mean that ought to dry anything you know and bishop said i'm gonna watch it said you go out and turn the water off i went out and i turned that great big key out at the street and i started kind of lazily headed back and i got about halfway the house and i heard somebody said turn off turned off turned off turned off instead of turning it off i had to go see what was happening when i got around the corner got in the house got into that room there was a geyser in my house [Music] and then i took off running trying to turn it off turned off turned off i said all that say this water's got power when david came against the philistine army this time he said god has broke forth like a breach of water he's blown them out of the water if you will let me tell you when you get together when you put your divisions aside and you put things in god's hand suddenly he'll take your enemy he'll take that thing that's been after you and he'll blow it apart he wants to blow those enemies out of your way somebody hear me today you've been trying to control and hold on to many bad things you need to let god break forth in your life today he's got a victory for you hallelujah i need that fresh direction you were talking about preacher well let me tell you how to how you get it first chronicles 7 14 said if my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek by face and turn from their wicked ways then will i hear from heaven and forgive their sins and will heal their lands listen we need our nation healed we need more praying people praying for our nation if we're going to be god's people we need to set aside our differences we need to come together and start seeing god heal our land we need to be a church that cares for one another without divisions without infightings well preacher i want to pray i don't feel like god's hearing my prayers you know what john said about that john 9 31 said now we know that god heareth not sinners but if any man be a worshiper of god and doeth his will him he heareth now use a little simple logic here if you're going to live in sin and try to get your prayers answers god's not hearing no no no no no but if you'll turn into a worshiper you see it's hard to sin when you're worshiping if you've had it sin in your life won't you come today and say i need to start worshiping god instead of sinning if you'll start being a worshiper now that's what john said but if any man be a worshiper of god and doeth his will you don't just worship and then go out and keep sinning when you start worshiping then you start doing the will of god and god starts hearing what you've been praying it appears he turns a deaf ear to those who won't worship and those who won't do his will god said go up and attack david had had expertise with a slingshot but this wasn't a slingshot war this was a time to go forth and to attack and the bible says when they attacked the philistines were in such disarray it said and there they speaking of the philistines left their images says ii samuel 5 21 and there they left their images and david and his men burned them could i tell you this see the imagery there are some things when god gives you the victory to attack the enemy instead of letting the enemy attack you there's some stuff that needs to be burned up and destroyed so that nobody returns to it well i'm just going to put this in the back closet and not use it until i have a weak moment i'm just going to put this in the chest of drawers i'm not going to wear it for now but if i give a week no no no there's some things that need to be burned up and destroyed and removed from your life if you're going to be a true worshiper and you're going to have a break forth and victory in jesus name stand with me scripture would give other accounts of the philistines attacking but it seemed that david in his ability to inquire of the lord would find fresh direction every time you can read just a few verses later now understand god told him to go up and attack yet again the philistines would come around and he inquired of the lord again in fact that's the way the bible said it in second samuel 5 22 and the philistines came up yet again and spread themselves themselves in the valley of refrigerant they you got to think they're a little bit nervous by now the philistines might be uh getting a little bit paranoid this david seemed like every time we mess with him it doesn't end good but we're going to try it again and you know what david did he went and prayed again it said he inquired of the lord and you know what the lord said this time he said thou shalt not go up. what man i took them out i took goliath out with a slingshot you told me to go up and i went up but lord you think we ought to be able to do things the same way every time listen to me don't try to anticipate what god's doing in your life just let him do it just inquire of the lord sometimes he'll say go up sometimes he'll say get your slingshot other times he'll say don't go up i won't read it i'll paraphrase here's what he said he said instead he's a circle around behind them and he said wait till you hear a rustling in the mulberry trees you think those philistines weren't a little bit paranoid by now they're looking over their shoulders how's david know all this stuff and so help me they're trying to find david and all of a sudden from behind them they hear the mulberry trees start wrestling many of the bible scholars say it sounded like a mighty army attacking from behind once again god gave fresh direction let me tell you every time you have a situation if you'll inquire of god god may have fresh direction but he's got a victory in your future if you'll ask him every time in fact maybe you've dealt with something on your own terms thinking that's the way god wanted you maybe need to back up and then back up and say god i'm waiting for a whole lot of shaking go on i'm getting ready for you to shake this thing i think you're going to do this thing you need fresh direction today you need to reset i wonder if there's somebody under the sound of my voice in this house today that's needing to let god break forth in a situation in your life i wonder if there's somebody under the sound of my voice that might want to step out and come to the altar for a little while and say god i need you to break forth in this situation i've been dealing with something lord i need you to break forth and i don't know what it is i don't know what your circumstance are and it don't matter if i know or not if god has your breakthrough you need to step forth and let him break forth in your life would you step out in the aisles and start making your way around the altar right now god's got a breakthrough for you god's gonna break forth in your life would you come right now maybe it's your health maybe it's your finances maybe it's some commitment that you've made let god break forth in your life let him do the work you don't need a breakdown you don't need a breakup you need him to break forth hallelujah praise team lead us in worship would you gather around for a season of prayer right now hallelujah hallelujah yes lord overwhelm us lord hallelujah lord overtake us hallelujah [Music] yes lord [Music] [Music] hallelujah take me back lord god i need a break on my god i need you to break forth in my life [Music] hallelujah [Music] to yes heart of jesus there is nothing we want [Music] because we don't serve a just god he's all powerful almighty and we're walking out of here different than we came today thank you [Music] he and his family ask for our prayers they're traveling out of the country to africa and they'll be there till august but he said they'll be tuning in every service and his whole family will be watching from there so as we close in prayer today we're going to uh pray for them as well and durango family we love you all so very much let's dismiss in prayer today mighty god we thank you today we thank you for the word that just deep into our hearts lord i don't just do this and i don't just do that and it's not just another day but this is your day that you have made lord we lift up the durango family today and we pray for safe travels with them and lord we pray for all those that are traveling throughout this summer and god every person that is here in person today and also watching through the telecast lord this is your day and we rejoice and are glad and we thank you we praise you we dismiss from this place but not from your presence in jesus name we pray amen and amen as you're dismissed why don't you go up and speak to someone who you don't even know and introduce yourself and just celebrate jesus throughout this day
