Sunday Morning Worship Service

please remain standing just a few more moments let me say a special welcome welcome again to all who are joining us here this morning so glad to have you worshiping with us here at First Apostolic Church uh I realize this is a holiday weekend and I'm glad to see those who have journeyed from different parts of the country to be with us glad to have you worshiping with us I want to say welcome to a couple of uh guests of Brother Steve hamr to Z West and Sam Hartman honored to have you worshiping with us could we welcome them to our service today co-workers and to any other guest that I may not have a guest card from you I say welcome thank you for being with us I want to get right into the word of the Lord this morning this is a beautiful day this is the day that the Lord has made I will rejoice that's a pretty empa emphatic statement I will rejoice and be glad in it aren aren't you glad to be in the house of the Lord today it isn't it a beautiful day to be here hallelujah I want to call your attention to the Book of Luke the 19th Chapter Book of Luke the 19th Chapter I'll give you a moment to find that in your tablet or your device or on in your Bible I would remind everyone today is a fun day where we're going to have fun fellowship and a little bit of frivolity this afternoon from 5: until 8: and I encourage everyone to be here uh just a uh a special day and so we'll have fun uh fellowshipping with the saints of God this evening Luke 19 we're going to begin reading at verse number 29 and it came to pass when he was come nigh to Bethpage and Bethany at the mount called the Mount of Olives he sent two of his disciples saying go ye into the village over against you in the which at your entering ye shall find a cult tide whereon yet never man sat loose him bring him hither and if any man ask you why do you loose him thus shall you say unto him because the Lord haveth need of him and they that were sent went their way and found even even as he had said unto them and as they were loosing the cat be own to there thereof said unto them why loose you the cat and they said the Lord have need of him and they brought him to Jesus and they cast their garments upon the CT and they set Jesus there on and as he went they spread their clothes in the way and when he was come nigh even now at The Descent of the Mount of Olives the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen saying blessed be the king that cometh in the name of the Lord peace in heaven and glory in the highest for few moments this morning I would speak to you on this subject just one of those days just one of those days let's pray savior I Love You Lord we are so grateful to be in your house and savior I thank you that we've already felt your Mighty presence as we've sent our sacrifices of praise and worship unto you Lord let us once again realize that we have the opportunity to be here in your presence as you manifest yourself so mildly to us Lord let us hear your word and receive it not of anything this speaker can say but of the power of your word and let it reach into our hearts encourage us strengthen us and direct us to Salvation for all this we're grateful and thankful in the name of Jesus we pray amen Lord bless you you may be seated just one of those days I like those days that we sometimes experience that I would refer to as a perfect day just have you ever had just a perfect day in uh Aviation terms they refer to something in aviation as a Cavo day and that term Cavo means seiling and visibility un unlimited I mean they just as far as you can see it's it's beautiful blue skies not even any clouds No Haze no clouds it's a Cavo day one of our uh local news experts or rather weather experts Todd Hal every once in a while he'll say tomorrow is going to be an AB day that stands for an absolutely beautiful day I like those kind of days and I I'm sure most of you do as well you know everything's just right the temperature is okay it's not too hot it's not too cold you got dressed and everything just for this one time it fit just right you know wasn't too tight uh you it was just working for you today you looked in the mirror and you said hey man I don't even know if I need to comb today I look so good everything you all you got your tie tied right the first time the knot was perfect the first time you didn't have to retie your tie it everything is just the birds are singing outside it's it's what a day what a wonderful day you know uh everybody's in a good mood there was no no traffic on I40 or on 640 you got to work just a little bit early because the traffic you caught every one of the green lights man everything is just it's perfect you know in in my view as a pastor you know it's one of those days that that I'm loved as a pastor a husband a father man if you need a butcher Baker or a Candlestick maker what a good day I I can do all of that that day no problems and I would tell you it appears that Jesus in his Humanity was having just one of those days he said go get a cult and untime bring him to me and if they ask why do you want that cold he said just tell them the Lord has need of it there apparently was no conflict because they brought the coat the Bible says they took their garments on and off and they laid their garments on the coat and sat Jesus they made him a saddle and Jesus was being exal exed and as he descended from the Mount of Olives he was being adored by everybody all of his disciples had showed up and they were having a Onan parade for Jesus everything was perfect they H they were laying their their garments and and and and carpeting the way and they were glorifying him it says the whole multitude of disciples to begin they begin to rejoice and pray praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen it was just one of those days everything was working they were saying blessed be the king that cometh in the name of the Lord peace in heaven and glory in the highest if you look in one of the S synoptic gospels in Matthew concerning this same event it says in Matthew 218 and every great multitude spread their garment in the way others cut down branches from the trees and straw them in the way they were adoring Jesus Jesus was having a good day now that sounds like the part of being like Jesus that I'd like to be man I I'd like all those those compliments and everybody bragging on you man yeah I want to be like Jesus I I want to be like him I can relate to one of those kind of days in fact we've written songs that in old days we used to sing there was one song I remember they used to sing that said uh oh the land of cloudless day oh a land of uncloudy Skies oh they tell me of a home far beyond the skies oh they tell me of an uncloudy day we used to sing what a day that will be when my Jesus I will see when I look upon his face the one who saved me by his grace when he takes me by the hand and leads me to the promised land what a day glorious day that will be I mean we like one of those days and I wish I could tell everybody that as you follow Christ that every day is going to be like that but I can't because you see Jesus also had just one of those days here this past week I went into a new recently opened convenience slash fuel station nearby I won't call their name and I was excited about going in there and experiencing this new I mean they have pizza over here and they have candy over here and they have all kind of stuff and and so y'all are figuring out I know but but just in Casey you don't know where I'm talking about I went in and they had a couple of three cash registers up front but but there was one great big long line of people waiting to pay and there was a young man quite flabbergasted over behind another one of the cash registers counting coins and there was another lady who appeared to be the manager or at least the most experienced of the two trying her best to wait on this long line of customers and uh I got in the line to make a purchase that I was going to make and it took a little while and I was wanting to at least you know be that voice of joy to encourage her a little bit you know so when I got to the resturant I said well how are you doing she said it's been one of those days and dropped her head and then she kind of turned sideways and did one of those side messages for me to hear that her fellow employee could hear she said I'm training a new guy and it's been rough I said you'll make it it's going to be all right but I'm here to tell you even serving God sometimes you're going to have just one of those days you know how I know because Jesus in his Humanity did not always have perfect days he was our example and I submit to you if Jesus could have a bad day sometimes we who follow him can have bad days too let me give you an example because we read in our text from Luke 19 if you scoot ahead just one chapter to Luke 20 let me read you what it says in verse number one Luke 21 and it came to pass that on one of those days as he taught the people in the temple and preached the gospel the chief priests and the scribes Came Upon him with the elders now I've got news for you they didn't show up with branches to pave the path they weren't taking their garments off and saying uh uh uh glory to God instead notice what happened and spake unto him saying tell us by what Authority does thou do these things or who is he that gave you this Authority they started questioning Jesus Authority and Jesus ability and Jesus right to preach what he was preaching in the temple brother M are you suggesting that Jesus could one of those days after all he was God manifest In the Flesh he's the one that said peace be still and the storm ceased he's the one that opened blind eyes he unstopped deaf ears he even raised the dead he could have one of those [Music] days well verse 19 there was cooperation adoration exaltation but Hebrews tells us this in Hebrews 4:15 for we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities but was in all points tempted like as we are yet without sin Jesus could have a bad day but he knew how to deal with it he didn't sin and lose his cool and lose his temper maybe we want to be like Jesus on the good days but we want to be like somebody else when it's just one of those days yes I submit to you that Jesus Jesus was having just one of those days he started teaching and preaching doing what he should do with all authority and the scribes and the elders started questioning his authority and his day started heading south you see the enemies of Jesus and the enemies of Truth don't mind a little adoration but when a little truth and a little preach and a little teaching starts you sometimes will run into is some adversity it will not always be a blue sky sometimes there's going to be some storms in your walk with God I'm not here to tell you that every day is going to be perfect but I'm here to tell you that Jesus was our example how to deal with just one of those days be reminded if you got into this following Jesus thinking everything was going to be perfect scripture doesn't bear that out Jesus said over in Matthew the 5th chapter he maketh the sun to rise on the evil and on the good and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust see some of y'all are praying right now that this afternoon it won't rain on the Labor Day picnic I know yeah you are so am I Ecclesiastes said but time and chance happeneth to them all sometimes you're going to have just one of those days but I needed the example that Jesus gave when he was confronted and his authority was questioned now stay with me for you see the enemy wants to question Christ Authority in your life when you have one of those days when you're having troubles and trials when things aren't going good you were late to work uh you got up and you you looked horrible when you looked in the mirror I'm talking about some of these young folks they they they'll get up on that day the they want to look the best and they'll have a zit on their chin that looks like a hump on a camel oh God it's going to be one of those days got up Lane you burn the biscuits everybody was driving in your way you caught every red light there was a traffic jam on I40 you know your boss is going to be waiting and telling you you're late again it's one of those days you see what happens when you're having one of those days is you start having that battle with the flesh inside you man I'm serving God I've been doing good I every god I've been trying to do everything I can for the Lord these things shouldn't be happening to me and if you aren't careful in your flesh the enemy will get in your ear and try to tell you I'm questioning the authority of Christ what's any better about me than anybody else I've been serving the lord I ought to catch all the green lights let me tell you Jesus had to deal with bad days but what he did he took authority over it even in his Humanity here's what happened here's the way his authority was questioned they begin to ask him questions about Authority what Authority do you have who gave you that Authority this is the way the devil Works he wants to question Christ's Authority in our lives you will have folks that will ask you from time to time and it's a tempt by Satan himself through somebody to put down why do you go to church all the time why why do you do what you do why do you dress like you dress why do you live like you live why why do you make all these commitments why are you so hung up that you got to be baptized in Jesus name wh why there's questions questions questions of the authority of Christ in our lives but I want you to notice how Jesus dealt with questions in Luke 20 and3 Jesus said and he answered and said to them I will also ask you one thing and answer me let me pause here sometimes we all feel like we've got to be the answer man for every situation in life you know as a child of God we need to step up sometimes and start asking some questions ourselves when somebody asks me why do you go all why do you go to church all the time I'm I don't say why don't you go to church do you not know what you're missing but not being in the house of the Lord do you not know what the word of the Lord said about forsake not the assembling of ourselves together you see Jesus answered their questions with a question he said I will ask you one thing he said the baptism of John was it from heaven or men and they reason with themselves saying if we say from Heaven he will say why then believe ye him not but and if we say of men all the people will Stone us for they be persuaded that John was a prophet he suddenly asked them some questions that they couldn't answer listen when the devil starts trying to put doubt in your mind you need to start asking him some questions when the devil starts telling you that things are so rough you need to step up and say devil I want to ask you why God still protecting me why am I still breathing today why have I still been bought with a price oh yeah it may be just one of those days but tomorrow is on the way I will not be defeated by questions of Doubt oh Hallelujah man what do you dress like you do let me tell you if anybody asks you why you dress like you do here's what you need to do first of all consider the source look back at who's asking you the question and understand the motive I I can't help but if stop noway for many folks look like they fell out of an ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down I want to be modest I want to be holy I I I want to be a representative of Christ why are you so hung up on being baptized in jesus' name woman about to ask why do you want to be baptized in a me method that was never used in the lids of your Bible why would you do that it was never the only way they ever baptized was in the name of Jesus in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ why wouldn't you want to be baptized the Bible way sometimes I need to ask some questions several years ago this several years ago you young folks won't cannot even imagine this is back just after dinosaur parking was a long time ago we were on our church bus and it said First Apostolic Church on it and it was during the time that there was a fuel shortage in the United States and uh because of the fuel shortage there was a lot of controversy and the fuel prices G had gone Skyhigh some folks were paying as much as a dollar for fuel back then isn't that horrible but I remember so well we had a citizens band radio a CB radio on our bus and they tried to Institute as a protest a nationwide trucker strike and so during that trucker strike many and most of the truck drivers set their rigs aside for a week or so just to show that they were needed but there were a few they called them Gypsy truckers that said they were going to truck along anyway and uh as they were journeying some folks tried to force them to to go on strike and there were a few trucks that somebody shot through the truck it got real dangerous well we were on the interstate in our church bus listening to CB radio that you normally would hear a lot of chatter but there was very few and all of a sudden I heard one of those guys say breaker one nine what's your 20 now if you folks that don't know what that means that's that says I'm breaking in this channel where you at and this truck driver answered back he said I'm following close to my insurance policy and they said what's that he said and we checked the mirrors about the time he said it he said I'm following this first alcoholic Church bus he thought nobody' shoot at him if he's close to a church bus you're going to have folks ask you from time to time what does apostolic mean what does it mean to be Apostolic to be Apostolic defined simply as this the quality of being Apostolic notably of preserving the authenticity within the mission and the tradition of Christian churches as founded by Jesus Christ and his Apostles listen I'm glad to be called Apostolic I say that not out of Pride or any disdain of anyone else but I'm not ashamed to be called Apostolic that I've been Blood Bought I'm following the apostles Doctrine who were following Christ sometimes yes we have to answer some questions in fact 1 Peter 3:15 said but sanctify the Lord in Your Heart Lord God in your hearts and be ready always to give an answer to every man that askthe the reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear I'm not afraid to ask questions but we need to do like Jesus did sometimes now I want to ask you some questions if you died tonight would you make it to heaven have you made your salvation sure before you condemn me for being in the house of God I want to know is your salvation sure sir Luke 20:8 Jesus Took Authority and said unto them neither tell I you by what Authority I do these things you know what he basically say it's none of your business I believe it's time to tell Satan in a lot of things in your life that he's asking to n of your business I've been serving Jesus I don't care what you think Satan I don't think what message is being sent I'm a blood bought child of the king and I'm going to do what I'm going to do unto God and not unto man you see the problem a lot of us face is we feel indebted to give answers to everything 1 Timothy 1:4 said neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies which Minister questions rather than Godly edifying which is in faith so do now the end of the Commandment is Charity out a pure heart and a good conscience and Faith unfeigned from which some have swerved and have turned aside unto vain jangling Desiring to be teachers of the law understanding neither what they say nor where are they affirm in fact Proverbs simply said it this way answer not a fool in his folly lest th also be like unto him I don't serve God and live like I do because I'm afraid of going to hell I serve God the way I do because I'm looking forward to going to heaven it's the greatest life there is to serve Christ don't find yourself on the defense of making some unreasonable compare unreasonable comparison into this world we are saved by the power of the Holy Ghost I live like I do because I love living like I do I go where I go because it's the best place in the world to go I take my family where I take my family I raise my kids because it's the best life I make no apologies if you're having one of those days every now and then and you want to you hear that voice in your ear that says I'm questioning what I do you need to take it back to Jesus and say I don't have to answer these things Jesus has got this thing for I'm here to tell you you can have one of those days I can stand as a witness before you today I know what it's like to have one of those days I know what it's like to get the report from the doctor that says you need to have some more tests we found something we don't like we we're needing to have you have a biopsy when I got that word you know what that could I be transparent with you today you know the first thing that comes to your mind they've asked you all of these questions about your history do you smoke never touched a cigarette in my life I'm not bragging just saying God kept me from those things do you drink I've never touched alcohol in fact I told the doctor when he was he was questioning me he said do you do you do alcohol I said I've never touched alcohol in my life I said accepted communion service God I've I've served you all my life God I I've I've tried my best to be faithful to you God I I I talk to you on a regular basis God I I read your word God I'm trying to do everything I can in your kingdom but I want you to know there was a calm and a peace that I started feeling when they said you you going to have to do this you're going to have to you going to have to have a biopsy I've got some bad news from your biopsy you got you've got an issue you're going to have to have treatment you think I wanted to blame God a thousand times no I said God you got this God you're taking care of this I've been Blood Bought God I know you've got this if I live today I'm forever thankful but if I die I'm gained I let me tell you the enemy will not let me have a bad day because Christ is living in me he's taking care of me brother Sean a year ago you know what it's like to have a bad day let me tell you brother Shan O'Brien knows what a bad day is like he was working hard being kind doing a good thing and was injured in a horrible accident fell off of a rof his leg was injured so badly they were talking about amputating your leg am I not right there was saying if we don't get blood flow here never once heard brother Sean saying I don't know why God did this to me why would God allow this to have why would I have one of those kind of days instead I'd get a text picture of him once every once in a while when he was even supposed to be out he was sitting in his in his recliner at first watching the service online and the other foot was going one wouldn't Pat but the other one would brother Sean I saw that he was having church and and I'd sent him a text message every once in a while and he there was never any woe as me because you see brother Shawn knows where to go when you're having a bad day his faith hasn't waned he kept trusting he kept believing let me tell you I don't care what you've been going through Jesus wants to keep you he wants to give you a test testimony God's got it for you he's got healing he's got provision you may be having one of those days oh Hallelujah let me hasten you see some of us right now some of the folks under the sound of my voice hear me it hadn't been one of those days you've been having one of those weeks one of those days one of those years you know fact you're feeling like maybe it's one of those lifetimes but I came to testify to you today take authority over whatever's ailing you take authority in Jesus name and Proclaim God's got this I'm going to keep believing I'm going to keep trusting I'm going to keep moving ahead you know what they did after he questioned with a question they said he said was was what John taught was it what what uh was it from God and notice how they reasoned that out it said and they answered that they could not tell whence it was now in our com vacular on what they said they said duh I don't know isn't it amazing when the supernatural things of God are manifest in our life the doubters the Skeptics the enemy himself he has no answer for that in fact in Luke 20:26 it said and they could not take hold of his words before the people and they marveled at his ansers and held their peace now the thing that they did after they couldn't answer they started watching his life they started watching the things that Jesus would do they kept an eye on him let me tell you it's not just great enough to Proclaim some things there's going to be some answers you can give by the life you lead Ralph Waldo Emerson is credited with making the statement who you are speak so loudly I can't hear what you're saying sometimes it doesn't matter what you're saying with your mouth how are you living there are many answers that this world can find because we've been called to be Witnesses and when we go through adversity when we have one of those days we have an opportunity Above All To Be A Witness musicians come quickly Our Lives should be different there was a monk names St Francis of aysus he was the founder of The Franciscan order and he is credited with making this statement preach the gospel at all times use words if necessary sometimes our lives will be the greatest answer to the questions that are coming against us and giv us just one of those days I hasten toward the close but I will not even read it but I'll paraphrase the book of Ephesians the 5th chapter begin reading at verse one it's talking about being followers of God as children walking in his love because he's loved us giving offering the sacrifice but then it names some things that should not ever be named Among Us it says don't that the saints of God that fornication uncleanness covetousness should never even be named there's s some stuff that shouldn't even be a question Among Us filthiness foolish talking jesting that are not convenient but it again after all of that that itemized list of what shouldn't be identifying of us it makes this statement it says but rather giving thanks rather giving thanks I've told you this before but I'll repeat it again I remember us working here at the church and one of the greatest Carpenters that just a Craftsman that I knew it was brother Jimmy lamb brother Jimmy lamb he he was a an amazing Carpenter and Craftsman but we were working over here on the church church and working a lot of long hours and everybody was tired and but the lamb I mean he he just looked the part of a carpenter uh he he had one of those belts that had all kind of when he walked it clinked I mean it sounded so good but he knew what all that stuff was for I put one of those belts on but I didn't know what half of it was for you know but but I saw brother lamb one day working and he was driving a nail and he hit the wrong nail professional Carpenter but he hit the wrong nail and you know what I saw brother Jimmy lamb do he said oh thank you Jesus oh thank you Jesus brother Courtney I'll always remember that about your grandpa it was an example to me in an adverse situation rather giving thanks listen if you're having one of those days you know I realize tomorrow is a holiday but so this week I'd say Tuesday's on the way Tuesday's on the way if you start having one of those days try it for me say thank you Jesus thank you Jesus this isn't what I thought was going to happen but Jesus I thank you because I know I'm not alone I know I'm not facing this alone I don't have the answers but you have the answers Satan get behind me I don't owe you any explanation I'm praising God in the midst of trouble I'm praising God in the midst of a storm why because Jesus can take just one of those days and make it a perfect day Hallelujah stand with me and finally I tell you today there is another day coming that we're looking for John the Revelator in Revelation 221 pinned these words and he showed me a pure River of Water of Life clear as Crystal proceeding out of the Throne of God and of the lamb and in the midst of the street of it and on either side of the river was there the Tree of Life which bear 12 manners of fruits and yielded her fruit every month and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the Nations and there shall be no more curse but the Throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it and his servant Shall Serve him and they shall see his face and his name shall be in their forage and there shall be no night there and they need no candle neither light of the Sun for the Lord God God giveth them light and they shall rain forever and ever and he said unto me these sayings are faithful and true and the Lord God of the Holy prophets sent his angels to show on his servants the things which must shortly be done behold I come quickly Jesus is coming back for his people blessed is he that keepeth the sayings and the Prophecies of this book Proverbs finally stated it this way but the path of the just is as The Shining Light the that shineth more and more unto the perfect day if you have one of those days and you don't know how to deal with it I encourage you today the way to start dealing with one of those days is first of all repent of your sins say Jesus I'm sorry for of the sinful things I've done Jesus loves you he wants to forgive you if you've never taken his name on in water baptism we have water here today we have clothes for men women boys or girls and we'll baptize you in the name of Jesus the Bible way and you are promised the gift of the Holy Ghost that's what we'll bring every day to be a day serving Christ I wonder if we could lift our hands just a minute and give praise unto the Lord could we just love him for a moment Jesus I love you Jesus I praise you that no matter my circumstance no matter what the day is like God I know that you're going to give me what I need Lord you know the things I've been facing you know the troubles and trials that I may be S facing but God I know I'm not alone Lord I know you're going to want to be with me Hallelujah now right now if you're in this house and you want Christ to walk with you every day I'd ask you to step out and make your way down to the front for a season of prayer if you've never repented come and repent of your sins if you've been walking with God for many years would you come saying Lord I Thank you for another day I thank you for a perfect day Lord I know you're going to be with me you're walking with me Hallelujah
