Sunday Morning Worship Service

thank you praise team I'm going to let everyone move to your seats we greet you this Sunday morning and you may be seated we greet you this Sunday morning in the precious name of Jesus we welcome you to First Apostolic Church all of our guests who have already been welcome once again I give you a personal welcome thank you for being here and worshiping with us today to all those joining us on the many multimedia platforms that we have been blessed to use to carry the gospel we greet you thank you for joining and watching and I hope you will participate where you are and come and be in service with us very soon and enjoy the presence of the Holy Ghost that we feel here in the service give honor to all of the ministry of First Apostolic Church all of our leaders I give honor especially to our Bishop and first lady to our pastoral staff to all of our ministers and elders and all of our uh workers who are Faithfully working even at this time I say am man especially to the announcement that was made by Brother Whitley uh concerning prayer time at 6:00 uh please remember we pray first with the ladies and brother Bryant will be leading our men in special prayer time in the men's prayer room you don't want to miss out that's what prepares us for the service tonight we're expecting God to do a special work in the service tonight and we're expecting him to continue to bless here today I would also uh give you a bit of explanation uh Pastor Anthony is over in Sanford North Carolina uh preaching a series of services uh with uh brother and sister acres and that great church First Apostolic Church of Sanford we're praying for them that God would give them souls for their labor and then I would remind everyone once again camp meeting we're coming up uh Pastor Whitley said in just 10 days remember that going to be a great time every night Wednesday night Thursday night Friday night uh day Services Thursday and Friday uh going to have wonderful time in the Lord we are the host Church uh for the Tri-State district and I uh encourage everyone as hosts we need to be here and welcome all of those who will be joining us I would ask you to uh uh be on uh your point of uh of Duty if you are a technician if you're a greeter if you're an usher uh check all of the uh uh calendars that you have to make sure you're on duty as we welcome the special guests that will be joining us for that wonderful event camp meeting the 17th 18th and 19th this morning I want us to get into the word and uh I hope to uh uh do as Jesus did never to teach like Jesus but I want to uh to at least uh use a point of reference you know uh Jesus when he uh he spoke to Shepherds he talked about sheep because he got to where they lived when he uh spoke to the intellectuals he could speak to them uh on an intellectual level to talk about the history that they so valued among the Pharisees and Sadducees so uh Jesus uh reached to the level uh where he was preaching and teaching and I hope what the word would bring us today would be where we're living today and I maybe that will come a little clear after I read my text and give you my title The Book of Proverbs the 22nd chapter Proverbs the 22nd chapter I want to read just two verses uh for a text but we will have corroborating verses shortly Proverbs 22 beginning with verse number 26 we read be not thou one of them that strike hands or of them that are are sureties for debts if thou Hast nothing to pay should he take away thy bed from under thee for a few moments this morning I want to speak to you on this subject we need a co-signer see I may be talking where some of us are living nowadays we need a co-signer let's pray savior I love you I'm grateful for the privilege that we have of being in your house for your wonderful presence that we are experiencing Lord I Thank you for the anointed presentation of the praise team as they elevated us to another level of worship and praise Lord I Thank you for the message of the song and thank you for your faithfulness now Lord be faithful to us once again as we study your word not of what I can say but of what your word would teach us Lord let us receive let us act upon your word for all this we're grateful and thankful in the name of Jesus we pray amen we need a co-signer Proverbs 11:15 said he that is shity for a stranger shall smart for it and he that hateth shy ship is sure Proverbs 17:17 says a friend loveth at all times and a brother is born in adversity a man void of understanding striketh hands and becometh shity in the presence of his friends that term shity defined as something that makes sure a guarantee one who becomes a guarantor for another person I used the phrase cosigner that's Curr to us it's a person who signs alone or at least jointly with another in order to guarantee payment there are many accompanying scriptures that I could read that bear out the warning in the natural that's been given here in Proverbs in fact that en entire chapter of uh of Proverbs 22 you can read several references to this idea of being cautious and careful and warning against being a guarant he said uh in our text uh don't be one of those that strike hands or has a Shak hand deal and you become the shity for someone else's debt he said if you've paid nothing why should you lose your bed from under you for someone else's debt Now understand who's writing this is Solomon Solomon was no dummy Solomon being the one refuted to be the wisest man that lived because he had asked God for wisdom so he's given some real important advice here in the natural about caution and being careful about taking the responsibility for others debts he was basically saying in today's terms don't be a co-signer for someone else's debt he talks about risk and you know in the day that we all live in we are all tempted every day to go into debt believe it or not yesterday I'd been preparing this message and I got a little card one of those advertisement cards in the mail and it said it's not too early to think about purchasing your Christmas lights for Christmas here in the middle of July and it was it had one of those QR codes that you could click on and just see how you could make a purchase early to get your Christmas lights ready I thought my goodness the last thing anybody ought to be thinking about in the middle of July is Christmas lights but I also noticed accompanying that I had no real mail yesterday but I got a couple of cards that were advertising ways that I could go into debt so I looked up the major shopping days that are in the United States according to the US News and World Report the major shopping days in the United States include New Year's Day first day of the year Martin Luther King Jr Day President's Day St Patrick's Day you got to buy something green Easter got to buy eggs and rabbits Arbor Day I don't know what you buy on Arbor Day a tree uh Mother's Day get something for Mama Father's Day get something for Daddy Fourth of July get something and blow it up in the sky Amazon Prime day taxfree weekends Labor Day Halloween Black Friday cyber Super Saturday and yes to end the Year New Year's Eve that's according to US News and World Report there's a lot of Temptations to go out and get in debt that's before we even start talking about birthdays and anniversaries mortgage payments car payments grocery bills fuel bills on and on it goes we're bombarded oh with advertisements oh but you can get 20% off or 40% off off or even 75% off and the greatest sale we've ever had the once in a year sale see some of you you're buying Jean is clicking right now you you you're wondering where is he talking about they'll do everything they can to get you to make purchases when Christmas time comes the decorations go up the mood setting music is there biggest cell ever uh they want you to be guilty and get that uh fuzzy warm feeling that everybody needs to get a gift from you and they're going to smile and think so great and and you're going to be nostalgic about uh spending and sharing but the one thing they seem to fail to remind us of is after we've accumulated the debt sometimes we can't pay the debt the credit comes due but at the time you're making the purchases it seems light years away now please stay with me for this is more than a a warning about going in debt even though Solomon was telling us those things in the natural and they actually expect you to pay on those credit cards that you've taken out cuz everybody will give you one and some get so deeply in debt they ultimately find that they cannot pay their debt and so then they go and try to get a loan to take care of their debt but when they try to get a loan they have accumulated so much debt that their name alone will not get them alone they do not have a good enough credit score they do not have enough assets or collateral to even receive a loan and suddenly now I know I'm speaking where some of us may be living nowadays but we're going to the spiritual as well as the natural for I came to tell you today there is a debt that's far greater that has been passed on from generation to generation through the Human family that started with Adam and Eve the dead has accured and compounded interest daily it has long since been turned over to Hell's collection agency and there seems to be no one that can help us pay that debt off for that debt is called the debt of sin what an awful debt it is what are its terms it was named this way in Genesis 2:16 the Lord God commanded the man saying of every tree of the garden thou may eat us freely but of the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil thou shall not eat of it for in the day that thou eatest thereof Thou shalt surely die death was to take care of sin debt but you see sin had a good salesman sin had the subtle salesman called The Serpent for in chapter three of Genesis gen is it said now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made and he said unto the woman yay hath God said ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden notice the subtlety of the way Satan Works to get you Owen in sin Satan misquoted what God had said immediately God hadn't said you couldn't eat of the garden he said there's one tree you can't eat of but Satan in his subtlety made an outlandish state to create dialogue between himself and Eve he said ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden and you see this is what Satan will do to us if we're not careful he is the subtle salesman of sin he will make ridiculous statements oh if you serve God life is over there's no fun there's no enjoyment of life you become this this beat down person if you become a servant to Christ and he put Eve on the defensive for Eve begin to defend she said we may eat of the fruit of the tree of the garden but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden God had said ye shall not eat it neither shall you touch it lest you die she straighten him out and she thought well I've done good but notice immediately Satan's dispute his disputation of the word of God he said ye shall not surely die again the way Satan sells sin is oh I know you've been taught this is wrong but it's not going to be to your demise it's not going to be to your destruction and many are confused and deceived because maybe there's not an immediacy of consequences for sin sin doesn't always rear its ugly head and collect its debt immediately sometimes sin has some longterm effects waiting to that ultimate collection of death Satan disputed the law of God and finds Fault With God for then he says and he begins to criticize God to Eve for God do know that in the day ye eat thereof then your eyes shall be open and ye ye shall be as Gods knowing good and evil oh if you'll sin you'll be smart if if you'll sin you'll be enlightened that's the the death that everybody's acing nowadays who don't serve Christ you find them I've got this world figured out I've got everything by the tail I've got it figured out all the while they're acing the dead of sin every day knowing that someday it's going to come due and when the woman saw that the tree was good for food oh the Bible tells us that there's pleasure in sin for a season when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasant to the eyes and a tree to be desired to make one wise she took of the fruit thereof and did eat and she also gave unto her husband with her and he did eat never mistake she was deceived but Adam was convinced and they both opened up a credit line that they couldn't pay and that mankind from then even until now has accured a debt if you have no sin ever in your life then this message is not for you but my Bible tells me that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God there is a debt that we all owe the sin debt that no man can pay no man can take care of the sin debt James said it this way in James 1:4 but every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed then when lust hath conceived it bringeth forth sin and sin when it is finished bringeth forth debt I'm here to tell you the debt comes due when you live a life of sin and we are all sinners and have all sinned but there's no man can pay that debt for when we die we're dead we need a co-signer we need aurity we need a guarantor one to undertake to answer the debt the failure to perform the faulty performance of another we need a guarantee well man's law came up with some things the laws of the Old Testament that were good but they did not take care of sin's debt they only pushed sin's debt ahead it was a delay you got to pay a little interest until it was due again you could pay it ahead for a year but the debt wasn't paid Turtle does pigeons goats calves Bullocks Lambs would all find their way into the laws of sacrifice but the ultimate result was again only to move sin's debt ahead another year man needed his sin forgiven he needed his debt paid in Matthew 1 1 120 we find that a god of Mercy starts putting into place a plan to pay the debt the sin debt for us all verse 20 of Matthew 1 said while he thought on these things behold the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream saying Joseph thou the son of David fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost and she shall bring forth a son Thou shalt call his name Jesus for he shall save his people from their sins I'm here to remind everybody in this house we already know it but you can't have the sin debt remitted without the name of Jesus the ultimate creditor the ultimate co-signer for my sins he had to come to this earth to take care of my sin and pay my sin debt oh Hallelujah Hebrews said it this way way but Christ come and high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect Tabernacle not made with hands that is to say not of this building neither by the blood of goats and calves but by his own blood he entered once into the holy Place having obtained Eternal Redemption for us he SED in blood I'm the cosigner from a cool sin I'm signing up I'm going to take care of that debt Hallelujah for if the blood of bulls and of goats and the ashes of a hepher sprinkling the unclean Sanctified to the purifying of the flesh how much more shall the blood of Christ who through the eternal spirit offered himself without spot to God Purge your conscience from dead Works to serve the Living God you see my dad had to be paid your debt had to be paid forgiveness of our debt of sin we couldn't pay it ourselves we we had no credit we had nothing we could do there was nothing but the sin of the Spotless he would take it on in the life of the spot less would take care care of the dead of all Romans 81 gives us a little more insight so stay with me a moment and understand I I realize we're going kind of slow but I hope you'll understand and get the grip of what we owe today for you see for that debt to be paid we had to take on Jesus am he did his part to be the co-signer of our sin to be the guarantor but we have a responsibility now to ENT enter into a covenant with him and the way he made that available to us is that we could become his children he could adopt us into his family see suddenly daddy's taking on my debt because I've been adopted into his family Romans 81 says there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit I'm going to start following after the spirit of God for the law of the spirit of Life In Christ hath made me free from the law of sin and death for what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh God sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh for sin condemn the sin In the Flesh that righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit you see the sin debts about to be paid Romans 88:9 said but ye are not in the flesh but in the spirit when I can walk in the spirit when I can have him living in me and I can walk in him if so be that the spirit of God dwells in you now if any man have not the spirit of Christ he is none of this if you don't have Christ in you your sin debts not paid you'll die in your sins and if Christ be in you the body is dead because of sin and the spirit is life because of righteousness and I love this passage but if Christ be in you the body is dead because of sin but the spirit is life because of righteousness but if the spirit of him that raised up Jes Jesus from the dead dwell in you who raised Jesus from the dead Jesus said destroy this Temple and in three days I will lift it up he knew that when he would die in the crucifixion it would be his own power and authority that would raise that flesh up again and he because he lived we lived man that's why when the the choir sings that song Ain't No Grave going to hold my body down when they get to that part that said if you walked out grave I'm walking too I get excited every time to know because Jesus got up I can get up because Jesus Lives I live I have no fear of this fleshly death this old body may not last forever I know it won't but I have a builder and a maker who is God I have eternal I have eternal hope in Glory Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah he said for are verse 12 therefore brethren we are deaders not to the flesh to live after the flesh I don't ow the sin dead anymore for if you live after the flesh ye shall die but if you through the spirit do mortify the Deeds of the body you take control of your flesh and in your spirit ye shall live for as many as are led by the spirit of God I want to be spirit-led not flesh L they are the sons of God I joined his family when I took his name on when I was filled with his Spirit if you've not received the spirit of bondage again to fear but you have received the spirit of adoption whereby we cry ABA father now Jesus has become our shy he's become our guarantor he's become our co-signer praise musicians get ready we're going to head to the end Hebrews said this Hebrews 7: 11 if therefore Perfection were by the levitical priesthood for under it the people received the law Now understand Hebrews is not saying we don't believe in the law and the law is bad but it's talking about the imperfection of law that the law itself alone did not pay the sin debt if therefore Perfection were by the levitical priesthood for under it the people received the law what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of MDC and not be called after the order of Aaron Now understand what is being posed here in Hebrew Hebrews this was not disputing the law but it was showing the imperfection of man-made laws it said for the priesthood being changed there is made of necessity chain also of the law now I've heard Bishop so many times give the beautiful example of understanding that in the legal sense dealing with Christ he manifested himself many ways he first was the prosecutor he made the accusation but then after he made the accusation he also became the defender he changed seats he first laid out just how bad we were but he came over here and he Saidi going to defend you I I I'm going to defend the very thing that you but he was one and the same and sitting at judgment he was also there the righteous judge he said he's guilty he said I want to defend him he said' I'm going to make a judgment but the righteous judge was also a merciful judge but here's what the law says the the debt for sin is death then Jesus becomes the payment he becomes all he says now I'm going to pay the debt of sin because they're forgiven I've forgiven you when you take the name of Jesus on suddenly your Deb of sin has been remitted it's been forgiven given for it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Judah he wasn't out of the the legal uh erands law or the the levitical priesthood he sprang out of Judah and of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood and it is yet far more evident for that after the similitude of MDC there arises another priest who is made not after the law of carnal commandment but after the power of an endless life you know what an endless life means that means there's no sin debt for me to live as Christ to die as G oh somebody hear me today the debt has been paid for your sins you need to put your guilt aside you need to put aside those things that's been dragging you down and take on Jesus stand with me hallelujah hallelujah Oh Glory the law couldn't pay the debt the law came out of Jud the law came out of praise the law came out of a new priesthood and I take us back to Hebrews the 7th chapter for we we read in verse 19 for the law made nothing perfect but the bringing in of a better hope did I've got news for you we have a better hope today by the which we draw nigh unto God and in as much as not without an oath he was made priest for those priests were made without an oath but this with an oath by him that said unto him the Lord swear and will not repent that thou are a priest Forever After the order of MDC notice verse 22 by so much was Jesus made a shity he was made our guarantor he was made our cosider by so much was Jesus made assurity of a better Testament if you're in this house today and you're weighed heavily with the Deb of sin I've got great news for you it's just as simple is this if you'll come to an altar and repent of your sins say God I'm sorry for my sinning Lord the sins I've committed are even too numerous for me to itemize before you but God I'm sorry I regret my sin I'm giving it to you right now he wants to pay your sin debt he wants to take the the in outad of death and he wants to give you life Everlasting if you're in this house and you haven't been adopted into the family if you haven't taken his name on in water baptism we have a baptismal pool just behind that screen we have clothes for men women boys and girls we will baptize you in the precious name of Jesus you can take on the name of Jesus today and he has promised you the gift of the INF filling of the Holy Ghost evidenced with speaking with tongues a life to live free from sin and free from sin's debt I would like us to do this if you're thankful that your debt has been remitted or if you need your debt remitted either one I'd like for you to step out in the aisle and i' like us to gather around the Altar for a season of prayer if you'll come and kneel or stand whichever is most comfortable for you if you want to repent of your sins just raise your hand and start telling Jesus I'm sorry Jesus I need your forgiveness if you need something from him today he wants to fill you he wants to provide for you he's here for you Jesus is in this house today get what you need from the Lord as the praise team sings Hallelujah Holy One Hallelujah so sing [Music] it would ask every person in this house to reflect on sometimes we get so busy with life's activities I would ask you once again to reflect on just what you've been saved from the debt that's really been paid when you go from this place today go thanking God for what he's done come back tonight expecting a great time of Fellowship in the service please remember we pray first women's a spre in the
