Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

I still have my soul

  • He honors the Carpenter family and the church; it is his first time at the movement — he was scheduled to preach last year — and it was a long flight from Sydney. His wife Michelle and their children are named with love.
  • He had planned to preach a running message — his son's first time running the aisles — but Brother Garnett preached his sermon, so he goes to plan B: he reads Mark chapter 8 verse 36 and titles his remarks, “I still have my soul.”
  • He walks Mark chapter 8: Jesus took the blind man by the hand out of the town and spat on the blindness, not the boy — he respected the boy but hated what was coming against him. Then come the questions — who do men say that I am, and who do you say that I am — and Peter's answer, “Thou art the Christ, son of the living God,” before Jesus poses the question the sermon hangs on: what does it profit a man if he gains the world and loses his soul?

Scriptures: Mark 8:36

Don't lose your soul

  • He tells of pastoring his father's church in the south of the Netherlands at twenty-eight with an Exploring God's Word Bible study chart: Laura came to church and received the Holy Ghost in the first service, and at the home Bible study her boyfriend Henry, an atheist who loved soul music, told him he had more soul than the soul singers put together.
  • You can lose your money, you can lose your eye, you can lose your life — but don't lose your soul. What does it profit the apostolic movement to have degrees and coffee shops but no demonstration — like a car lot with no cars, a bakery with no bread, a choir without a song, like Pentecostal but no Pentecost?

Repent and be baptized

  • “I believe this. Acts 2:38. Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Ain't nobody taking that.”
  • Luke records the substance of Peter's sermon, but he also records the soul of it: before we know what he said, we know how he said it — he stood up and lifted up his voice. Jesus handed the keys to Peter, not to Dr. Luke or Professor Paul.
  • Preachers must stand up and speak up and confront the darkness: you are not in that pulpit because you were elected — sheep don't pick shepherds — but because you were anointed by God.

Scriptures: Acts 2:38; Acts 2:14

There's only one God

  • He tells of receiving the Holy Ghost at nine years old, in February of 1990, after his dad taught lesson twelve: his mother laid her hand on his head and he began speaking in another tongue.
  • At fifteen, debating on internet forums, he was half persuaded by Rod, the Baptist pastor in Alexandria, that there are three persons in the Godhead; he woke his dad at two in the morning and was sent to pray — and his Bible was opened to Colossians 1:15, “who is the image of the invisible God,” and he saw it: the Father is Jesus in the flesh. He told his dad, “I was wrong. There's only one God.”
  • Twenty-four years in, he still gets nervous before a new Bible study, and he still wants to baptize every convert himself — you don't win them, you don't wash them — because he still has his soul.

Scriptures: Colossians 1:15

Preach to your Eve

  • Adam named everything God brought him, but he never spoke purpose over Eve — a woman in paradise but no purpose; and when Adam is silent, depression, anxiety, and doubt speak over her instead. Preach to your Eve and to your kids before you preach to the crowd.
  • In the middle of the cursing, Adam finally speaks: he called his wife's name Eve — and in the next verse God went from cursing to covering, and clothed them. The move of God in your family may be waiting on you to speak over your wife: “We're going to make it.”
  • He honors his dad at seventy-one and his mom at seventy, who went to Holland more than forty years ago and sold everything; his dad played the clarinet and jumped while he played, and his mom played the accordion — his family praised together, and they still have their soul. Pretending is the quickest way to lose it: “what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?”

Scriptures: Genesis 3:20-21

Get your soul back

  • He weaves the shepherd psalm into his close — “the Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want; he restores my soul” — and calls pastors to take their wives by the hand and come to the altar to receive their soul back for the thousandth time.
  • From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force: when you don't feel it, you force it — a shout is forced air across stretched vocal cords.
  • He rebukes fear, anxiety, depression, and the spirit of competition, and releases healing for those who need a miracle; his last word over the running, praising house: “I'm not losing my soul. My church is not losing their soul. My youth group is not losing their soul. I'm going to live to see it happen.”

What an honor it is to be here at the movement conference. And I'm so humbled and grateful. What an incredible facility. And I honor uh the Carpenter family, every staff member, what a all the gift basket, all the kind things. This is my first time uh to the movement. I was scheduled to preach last year, but I killed a guy to get out of it. And uh but it's my favorite conference. >> It's my favorite. I I can drink and I don't have to teach Bible studies. It's it like a load lifted it. My life just got better. It's I'm coming back next year. Maybe we get to do drugs. I don't know. I this revelation, it's amazing. I love it. and all these other guys think they have the greatest family, but I I really do. My wife Michelle, Ma, Savannah, Lewis, and Eden, I love them very much. My son, he's a church junkie. He wanted to be here. Uh matter of fact, he he uh he was preaching about we were so in the spirit this I was going to preach uh running on crutches and uh y'all don't think it's true. I only sent one picture to this. I can't use it, but go ahead and just put it up because this little p little picture. This was a picture I was going to use in my first sermon. I'm going to go to the B one. So, if this one's not very good, blame the brother Garnett because he preached my sermon. But I was going to use this. That's my son. That's the very first time he ever ran the aisles. And somebody snapped a picture of it. And I know the I know I know some of y'all get excited about your boys running the bases. I get excited about my boy running the aisles. Oo. When he starts running. Yeah. So, I can't preach that message. So, we're going to go with B. Plan B. Mark 8:E 36. And um I think you should be allowed to preach uh the length of your sermon should be like half the length of your flight. Don't. Amen. >> It was a long flight from Sydney. I I uh Some of y'all like taking out an auto amen. You know, you got your auto a hold on. I just need to not amen every point. You ever amen the whole sermon you didn't hear? Come. Just be honest. We're at the preachers conference. And I like the name of this conference. Movement. I'm all about man. He's on that treadmill. I mean that that is you know there's the word go is in the Bible 1,352 times. The word stop is in your Bible zero. I know all the sea love people 74 times. That's 5.5%. That means you do a whole lot more going. A matter of fact the great commission starts off with >> come on somebody just go. And as they were going the Bible says you know what I'm thankful I know. Come on. Maybe you don't have to teach a Bible study, but the one thing you going to have to do if God had first thing we know about God, come on. First thing we know about God is that he moved. >> If you think something's going to happen in your life and you're just sick, you just got to get some of you just need to get I've come to movement to tell you just get just get up and move. I got to preach. Get up. Look at your neighbor. Say, move a little bit. Move a little bit. All right. And I'm going to turn my little clock on. And uh but I'm not I'm just now starting it. I'm not I'm not paying to pay the bills. You know what I'm saying? I got the bills paid. All right. Mark chapter 8 verse 36. If you're there, shout amen. >> For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? >> Man, didn't brother Tim Tony and and brother Hammond preach good last night. I'm all these speakers and preachers today. I just I mean we we got to give honor brother Garnett and all this jet. Unbelievable. I want to just little little lesson. I want to title the remarks. I still have my soul. I still look at your neighbor. Say I still have my soul. Not that neighbor. That's the neighbor you've been talking to the whole time. Look the other neighbor. Say I still have my soul. Help me, Jesus, to do a good job to these most incredible people. I pray, Father, that you would anoint me that in the simplicity, Lord, of your word that's eternal upon which we've con decided to build our lives that we would be strengthened, encouraged, challenged, convicted, but most importantly, let us be changed that when we leave the house, our hands can be lifted and say, "Father, we were in your presence. We heard your word and we were changed by it in the wonderful name of Jesus." And as one people we say in Jesus name >> you can be seated. Mark chapter 8 is really in a roller coaster of of of a of emotion. Jesus is uh breaking bread and uh lot of qu 15 questions that he will ask. He's taught taught an MIT class and uh he's come to Bethesda and there he the Bible says he took a he took a blind man by the by the hand and took him out of Betha. Betha represents negativity or carnality and he understood I can I I can't heal you with the people you're hanging out with. Some of y'all waiting for the good point. I actually put the good best point right there. I I said some sometimes the the only hope for my miracle is saying I'm going to have to step out of my circle. I don't know about you, I came to movement to get with some people. Come on. Cuz I need something to happen in my life. And so he pulls him out and uh takes him by the hand. And then the Bible says that he he spit on him. Now my mother's taught me better than that. I m she doesn't like me even spitting at all. Like if I you if you got to spit just kind of do something. But if you have to spit, you spit on the ground because when you spit on something, it disrespects it. >> And and the Bible says Jesus spit. But I was just reading through it again just getting the warm-up for the sermon and and I noticed that he did he he actually didn't spit on the man. He spit on he spit on his eye. He spit on the blindness. He disrespected not the boy. He disrespected the blindness. He said, "I respect the boy, but I hate what's coming against you." Listen, I don't know why you came to to movement, but I I've come on. Some of you just need to h Come on. You need to fill your mouth up with some Holy Ghost saliva and spit on hell. You've been trying to negotiate with the devil. You've been trying to talk to the devil. You've been trying to have a deal with the devil. But I came to movement. Come on. I said I came to movement not to model my armor. I came, come on, to unshave the sword. I came to Come on. We're not here to model the breastplate and model the the the sword. We've come to murder. Come on. Some hell that's coming up against your life. Uh hell that's coming up against your family. Uh I wish I had somebody that was in the fight still running. Uh that would say, "I came to church uh on a Wednesday night and I've come on. Uh when you leave this house, uh come on. There's going to be some dead devils. uh there's going to be some an end to put to some things uh because you came to movement. Look at your neighbors say it's going to end. It's going to end. Uh and he goes on and then the 13th of the 15th questions he says he's talking to his disciples. He says he says well number 12 is who do they say that I am? And then he gets to the well who do you say that I am? >> Some of y'all never heard this before. Woo. This is good preaching right here. And Peter looked at him >> and said, "I know who you are. Thou art the Christ, son of the living God." Now, if I was inviter in a one God church, they'd be up on their feet cuz that's all you got to say, inviter. I said, when I'm with one God people, all you got to Come on. I know who you are. You are You are You are the You are the flesh of the invisible God. You are you are God robed in flesh and the dove of revelation. Brother Tony sat down and right after the dove Jesus said there's going to be a devil and the devil is you're going to suffer. >> You're going to suffer. And after he's talking about that, he poses another question. And he says, "But what does it profit a man >> if he gains the world >> and loses his soul?" I know I'm not deep. I'm I'm up here for all the people that failed Sunday school like me. Uh don't And here here here's the message. Don't lose your soul. Don't do don't lose s >> your soul. >> I was 28 years old when I started pastoring my father's fourth church that he had started in the south of the Netherlands. He had gone back to the US and left me with a a beautiful building in a small group and and and at 28 I didn't know I didn't know what to do and I was on the AIM program. I didn't have I didn't have enough money to buy bikes and fruit snacks. I'm all about that. But he left me an old uh exploring God's word Bible study chart that he had translated into Dutch. And and you know how it is, preacher, we are we are gospel salesmen. >> And so I'm I'm like you. We're always looking and I'm looking for I'm looking for a soul. >> I I pick my barber looking for a soul as you can tell. I mean, and if and if I can't win him, I I'll give it a little while. And if that don't bite, I'll find another bar. I'm just trying to win. We're just trying to win a soul. Just trying to win a soul. And so I I pick I about him fourth or fifth barber. And I found this guy. He was a he was an artist painter and in his in his gallery or wherever he painted, whatever it was, he had a barber's chair and he he would cut he would cut hair and he had tattoos all I mean, you couldn't see his skin. He was covered in tattoos. So, I start pitching him, you know, trying to get him to come to church and win him and and he said, 'Look, Matt, I'm not into the God stuff. He said, 'But my sister's uh I'm sorry, my girlfriend's sister, her name's Laura, he said, she's kind of into that spiritual stuff. And I'm like, all right, give me your number. So, I got her number and I got a hold of her and she came to church. And it's amazing on the first service, she got the Holy Ghost. Brother Porterfield And I was excited as you are, even more excited because that doesn't normally happen to me. I'm not like happy harvester, you know, like I It's not that I don't try, brother Thornton. I have them all come up, one, two, three, shout, "Hallelujah, repent of your sins." They just shout. Nothing happens. I'm happy for all those guys that that works for. That is so cool. But me, I have to like I have to go take them out to eat, kiss their babies, love on their Labradoodles. like my cost of acquisition for a soul is about $100 and these other guys like 600 at one I'm like man that's that's got to be an amazing gift you know man I could bank on that kind of gifting and so I I did but so I was like wow this is what it must feel like to be one of those dudes she got it on the first service so I but I did I went into my auto mode because this is what I was like hey man you want can I can we do a Bible study and she said yeah yeah she said we do a Bible study she said I said all right I'll come to your house. He said, "Well, my boyfriend, uh, he lives with me. Uh, he's not going to be into it. He's an His name's Henry. He's an atheist. Uh, but but just still still come." And so, I said, I made sure he was there. Don't worry. He was there. And I went and, uh, I walked through the door. Of course, first thing I do is like, man, I'm going to get I'm going to get Henry. I'm going to get Lord. So, I'm starting I'm just start, you know, I'm pitching. I'm getting to know Henry. Hey, Henry. And and what are you into? And and he's got this oldfashioned like boom box thing, you know, and and and record players like these old vinyl records in it. He's got boxes of these vinyl records and and he said, "Oh." He said, "You probably don't know anything about what I'm into." He said, "I'm I'm into like Artha Franklin and Marvin Gay." Oh. I'm like, "Oh, you're into soul music?" >> Yeah. >> And and he's like, "Yeah." I said, "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Stevie Wonder and BB King." He said, "No, BB King is blues." I said, "Oh, yeah, that's right. Be I said, some of y'all looking at me like, brother Tuttle, I'm from the more liberal organization. I'm sorry. I we we He he I'm thankful they got the ultracons out of the way so I could preach. You know what I'm talking about? And so I'm He's like, "Man, I'm just into all this soul music." And I said, "So he he sat on the couch and and it was just a little apartment. So couch was here. They had a little round table with three chairs around it. And and I I started I I I started teaching. Now listen, I'm not very good at much of anything. And y'all are figuring that out about right now. I didn't invite myself. I'm not good at much of anything. But but you give me an exploring God's word Bible study chart now. Don't bring the search for truth stuff. Don't I mean you might as well you might as well that's compromised watered down. Might as well be preaching out of the NIV. I I don't need none of that. I know you got your little fancy Bibles with all your little pictures in them because you need help, you know, and I I need an old I need an exploring God and I don't need the perverted version exploring God's word with the modern pictures. I need the one with the little white house with the red with not a little ride. It's got two chimneys. That dude's loaded with the little red tile roof on. I know I've got all the search for truth people hurt, right? Well, it's the same exact thing. Yeah, you probably drink probably drink Pepsi and think it's Coke, you know, like it's it's not the same thing. Pepsi and Coke ain't the same thing. You probably drink Dr. Thunder. Think a third part is a good idea. But I need I need I need exploring God's word with the house on the front because I I I see I don't start in the introduction to the Old Testament. I started on the little house on the front and I did like I did with everybody. I said, "Now listen, I got to tell you about this househ because the Holy Ghost first fell in in in the Gentiles in in in in their house, Sister Laura, and let me tell you, matter of fact, where I got the Holy Ghost, it wasn't in it wasn't in a in a fancy church, but it was in a house like this. And let me tell you, one time my shoulder and I could tell I had Henry cuz he was sitting there reading a book, but no no pages were flipping. And as I just started talking about the White House on the front of Exploring God's word, you know what happened? All of a sudden, some of y'all don't know what the woo sound means. That for all y'all here, that means the Holy Ghost came in on the little white house with the with the clay and tears started streaming down Laura's face. She started speaking in tongues all over again. And I and I just kept telling about miracle stories. How I watched a man that was dead get up in his househ. How that I s I've seen purpose put be put into the hearts of men in their house. >> And Henry's just sitting there. >> I just said, "Well, I I'll come back next week. We'll do introduction to the New the Old Testament next week." and and and Henry said, "Hey, hey, hey, preacher, before you go," he said, "I I'm gonna come I'm gonna come check you out." I said, "Come on, Bo." Well, he showed up the next Sunday, and he didn't respond at all. He just stared at us. The next Tuesday, I went for Bible study to Henry and Laura's. He opened the door and gave me the highest compliment of my ministry. He said, "Preacher, I was listening to you preach." He said, "You got more soul than Marvin Gay, Steven Wonder, and Artha Franklin put together. I wish somebody pray so I could take another sip of this water. I may not have hermeneutics homalytics. Matter of fact, I can't even spell those word. I don't know about cadence and all that jazz, but one thing I've got. I've got my soul. I said I've got my soul. And you can lose your money and you can lose your eye and you can lose your life. Uh but Jesus said whatever you do. I said whatever you do, don't you lose your soul. Don't you lose your I wish I had a preacher that said I been through hell, but I've still got my soul. Don't you let the fear of your haters uh rob you of your soul. I worry sometimes that we're so self-conscious about the social media wolves that we forget. Come on. >> You know what we need back? We need our soul back. You know what every singer needs? They don't need a new soundtrack. They need to get their soul back. You know what every Holy Ghost one God Jesus name saint of God needs? their soul. It's that part you can't touch but you feel it. >> It's that part that makes you happy but you can't pay for it. >> It's that that when you're shouting but you ain't got no stuff. >> It runs the aisles >> just because. Come on. Come on. Remember when you didn't need revelatory truths about facts you believed in your whole life presented in a new way to get you up off your pew? You could just come in and that wind would begin to blow and you would lift your hands. Remember when you didn't need a reason to praise God? Uh you could just I don't need the lights. I don't need the drama. It's cool with the fog. But I got soul. I can praise him. I can bless him in the morning. I can bless him in the noon time. I can give him praise at all times. Come on, back row. You waiting on it to get good. It's all good. You ought to get up and get your soul back. I said you ought to get your soul back. And I I didn't come with the new revelation. I just came with the question. >> What does it profit us? I know it's rhetorical, but maybe we should answer it. >> What What does it >> What does it profit the apostolic movement? >> If we got doctor's degrees, >> but we don't have no demonstration. >> Come on, somebody. I know you got a master's, but but the crackhead ain't looking for a master degree. They're looking for a miracle. I know your church, I got one, too. It's got a coffee shop. But what they want is liberty from sin and fear. And >> be like a car lot with no cars, a bakery with no bread. >> Be like a choir without a song. >> Come on, somebody. >> Be be like Pentecostal, but no Pentecost. >> Like, didn't he say something about they would have a form? but they wouldn't have no fire. >> So for all the new people, glad you're here. Hope you stay. Would nice if you joined. But but but I'm going to let you one let you on one thing that's not going to happen. We're not losing our soul. We're not I said as long as Matt Tuttle's alive and they get me a little microphone in a YouTube channel, we're not going to lose the shouting and the dancing. We're not going to lose long hair on our ladies and it getting shouted. We're not going to lose our soul. We're not going to lose our running and puge jump up. We're not going to I said we're not going to when you come to an apostolic prayer meeting, uh you know what you're going to see a church praying and a church with some soul. As a matter of fact, the first prayer meeting, you know what the first sermon, I'm off my nose, but you know what the first sermon of pent Pentecost, the day of Pentecost, the one y'all love and we all love it is Peter explaining what happened in the prayer meeting. >> If our prayer meetings don't have to be explained by our pulpits, we're not praying apostolic. Let me just say that again. If your prayer meeting doesn't have to have an explanation. Uh they were drunk not in their praise. They were drunk in the prayer room. And you know what? Come on. You want to have a demonstration? You got to learn how to open your mouth. Uh when there's no octave changes, bass drums, tracks, or metronomes. I know some of you can't do it cuz you can't even shout while I'm preaching. You ought to at least practice in the preaching. Somebody ought to lift your voice and you ought to let the devil know, I still got my I've still got my soul. I said, I've still got my I get in that prayer room and I've got soul. We We can't be having these little prayer meetings. >> Come on now. We've got to get I'm going I told my church we when we come to prayer meeting there's got to be fire. >> The effectual fervent interio Greek word energy the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avaleth much a ferventless prayer means nothing happens. >> I I tell you in my church they already know y'all y'all I wish you went to I wish I went to your church. No you don't >> because I'm going to tell you what if there's not a fiery prayer meeting I don't preach. I tell them, I ain't my the seed's too good for me to put on this soil. >> And if we're not going to get in here and pray and till up the soil, then it's a waste. It's just a message. You come to say, "Oh, wow. Well, wasn't that a cute little thought? It's not about cute little thoughts. It's about waging war on the adversary. Uh it's about destroying, taking down strongholds. Uh baby, what we're doing is to the rescue of the eternal soul. So, we've got to lift our voice. And church, we can't lose our soul. >> I came to Vida. They said, "Now look, Pastor Dutter, you you you know, you got fancy people in your church now. You got doctors and big money and I mean you you you you got people that like they're not frying the French fries, they're cooking the burgers. Like you you're in your 40s now. You know, you you pastor church on the interstate and you're not preaching five minutes of fire no more. You look at you up at the movement. I mean, your hymns sung, not safety pinned. You You made it, man. I had eight eight poor people that know what I'm talking about. Come on, somebody. I still get excited when I can put enough gas in my car to make it go all the way to full. Some of y'all don't even know what I'm talking about. I used to just I used to be like, "Oh, if I can get the light to go off, but now I've been God has been good to me. By the way, uh God has been good to you. Uh got it. But what does it profit me if I've got all of that and I lose my soul? What if I have the Cadillac, the suit, I got the life, but I don't have my dancing no more? I don't have my shouting no more. I don't have my running no more. Then what does it profit me if I've lost my soul? I'm not sacrificing my soul. I said I'm not sacrificing my soul. I believe this. Acts 2:38. Repent and be baptized. Every one of you in the name here. I thought I was. Y'all didn't get excited about one God. Here I am on new birth. Come on. I said repent and be baptized. every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Ain't nobody taking that. Ain't nobody taking that. >> I love the substance. >> You know what's interesting is is Luke records the substance, >> but he also records the soul of the sermon. He he he records the substance, but he does give us the style. >> He he he does deliver the the method >> of the me. Now, some of you like, I don't know, two and 14 of the same same book. Here's how it happened. Before we know what he said, we know how he said it. >> Now, he didn't say it sitting down. All right, guys. Let's have a convers. I'm not saying that that's wrong. I'm just want to do it like I just I just want to do it like he if we're going to say what he said. I kind of like to say it like he said it. And you know how he said it? He stood up. >> And you know what America needs now more than it's ever needed? It needs some preachers uh that'll get their soul back and and get up behind the pullpit and take a I said they need you to take a take a stand. Man of God, stand up. Stand up. I know the rest of the world, even modern Christianity, capitulates. But we've got our soul. We've got our soul. We've got our soul. >> G He J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J Jesus handed the keys >> to Peter. He didn't hand them to Dr. Luke. >> He didn't hand them to Professor Paul. And I'm not against professors and doctors, but they didn't get the keys. That's right. >> He g they gave him to a dude that before he had the dove had a devil talking out of him. Come on now. >> Who had been cursing, >> but who had the courage and had the soul cuz when you got soul, you don't care what anybody thinks. You'll dance on the floor until they kick you out. You'll preach righteousness unafraid and unintimidated. I don't believe old Peter would have probably got elected to any anything much >> if there were Let me tell you, pastor, why you're so fearful. >> I just wrote this down in my little little lesson here on this cool iPad. So, the reason they're so fearful is because they believe this lie that they're elected. You're not the pastor because some sheep sheep don't pick shepherds. Kids don't pick their parents. >> You're not in that pulpit. They might have wrote your name on a piece of paper, but the reason you're in that pulpit is not because you were elected my man because you were anointed by God. And so you need to rise up without being intimidated, without being fearful, without any stand up, man of God. Stand. Well, I'm afraid they'll vote you out. They can't. If God is for you, who can be? You've got a stand. Stand. Stand up. Get your soul. Look at your neighbor. Say stand. >> And he It tells the volume. >> He lifted up his voice. >> It wasn't conversational. It was confrontational. You got to have teaching, but you're saved by preaching because preaching is confrontational. Preaching confronts sin. Having itching ears, they heap into themselves. Teacher, you got to have a teacher or you'll you'll perish for lack of knowledge. But baby, you can't get to heaven. Matter of fact, what our world needs are some preachers. Preachers with a soul that'll stand up. Stand up and say something. Speak up, man of God. Confront the darkness. Confront transgenderism. Confront homosexuality. Confront flesh. Confront sin. Oo. You go ahead and be quiet. Quiet's when I like it cuz you can hear me better. I said stand up and speak up. Speak up. Say something into the darkness. Stop complaining and start preaching. You're a preacher. You're a preacher. Be a preacher. Come on. I know they've clipped and and cut and copied and pasted and posted, but do you have your soul? >> I know they tagged you and said ugly things, but do you have >> your soul? >> I still got my soul. You know what I just saw while we was worshiping? I saw a bunch of preachers who still had their souls. I saw some preachers wives that still have their souls. I saw some mamas. Come on. You're fearful, but you still got your soul. 24 years in. I I got to go fast. It's late and I'm hungry. I didn't eat all day. It wasn't cuz I was I was spiritual. I was scared. 24 24 years, Brother Thornton, and I still get nervous. >> I'm talking about Wednesday night Bible study. >> I still get excited in the jitters when I got a new Bible study coming. >> I still want to baptize every convert. >> Yes, sir. >> I I know some of y'all have the junior assistant preachers do that. That's fine. I got a little deal in my church. You don't win them, you don't wash them. Like, hold on. I did all the hard work. I went out and sold it. I went out and closed the deal. I went out and got him. And now you're going to get the fun part. No. Cuz I still like getting my my arms wet up to my elbows, dipping them down, and I still got my soul. I still got I wish I had a preacher. The devil's told you everything you're not. You ought to look at the devil say, "I might have slipped up, but I've got my soul." I might have messed up, but I've still got my soul. I might have made a bad a bad post on me in it, but I've got my soul. >> I know I'm like some of y'all pull in. I pull in and I'm parked in the spot and it says reserved for pastor. I'm like man I sure hope the pastor don't mind I'm parked in his spot and then it's like you are the pastor. I'm like I don't know what what's going on here. They gave me the keys to the place. I I can't believe I can't believe that I get to preach >> meetings like this and come and be with people like you. >> Yes, sir. >> I remember being n years old. It was February 4th. You You can keep standing. I won't preach along, but please stand cuz I have to stand the whole time. February 14th of 1990, I was 9 years old. Dad had taught lesson 12 of the divinely inspired exploring God's word. And I had translated it for him because he couldn't speak real good Dutch. And it's the one with the with the airplane and the the guy with the boils on his arms and the and then the blue ball of earth up in the flames and the fire. And y'all don't even know what I'm talking. Y'all never even read it. Y'all, I rebuke it in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. And I knew I was going to hell. And I was about 11 o'clock at night. I'm laying in my bed and I start screaming out closest thing I knew to Jesus. Mama. Mom. Mom. She comes up. She She was not feeling any kind of holy. She said, "What's wrong?" She said, I I said, "Mom, I'm going to hell." You know what? She didn't say, "Oh, no. You're under our covering. You're okay." She said, "You're right. You are." Hey, you got to let conviction hit. And then you got to let conviction stay. When they start feeling like giving up their sin, don't you let them live in it. >> Well, they've only been in the church two weeks and they already want to give it up. I think that No, no, no, no. When the Holy Ghost starts working on them, you let the Holy Ghost work on them. She laid her hand on my head and you ain't going to believe what happened. I started speaking in another I said I started speaking in another tongue as the Holy Ghost came on me and and and that was amazing. But this will be proof that I studied. 12,978 days later. Uh, I've been through hell. I've been hurt. I've been lied on. I've been forsaken at my lowest by those I esteemed at the highest. But baby, it's better now than it was back then. It's cuz I've still got my soul. I've still got my soul. I've still got my soul. I still get excited when brother Hammond starts breaking pots and I start crying cuz tears overwhelm me as I think mercy outruns my mess. I was on my feet >> and then brother Tony got to going about the branch in the in the mouth of the dove. >> And you know how you know where he's going be before he actually says the point like I got three people that got their soul. Cuz if you got your soul, you know what I'm talking about. You're standing up before he's even there. You're like I know what he's talking about cuz I've got that I've got that olive branch in my mouth. I've got that in mind. I haven't lost. Hey preacher, have you lost your soul? Whatever you do, don't lose it. >> It's It's as good. Now, don't don't you let some sour grape new convert tell you, >> "Well, just let it wear off." >> They ain't doing it right. You know all the people that say that? Well, just let them see. Those people don't stand up, preach with the preacher, run the hours or shout either. You're like, "Well, I don't believe it takes all that." We can disagree cuz I just got my soul. It does take that soul. It does take that shouting and hey, Brother Garnett, it does take that running. I got it. I remember when I prayed the first man through to the gift of the Holy Ghost. I was just a little boy. They set up a metal folding chair. I'd lay my hands on him and God filled him with the gift of the Holy Ghost. He began to speak with other tongues and that was great. But it's better today. >> I remember the same year that I received the Holy Ghost when daddy put me down in ice cold water for the remission of my sins. I remember like I can close my eyes and go back to the place where that cold water dripped off my chin and my hands were up in the sky and it was amazing. But I'm going to tell you what's almost just as good is when I pulled I'm sorry brother 104 out of the baptismal tank on Sunday night. I just want God to get all the glory. I I I said when I pulled that person out last Sunday night I got just as excited. You know why? Cuz you haven't lost your soul. You haven't lost your soul. >> I remember I got I put I got a little more tell y'all. Okay. Can I buy all eight liars? >> I remember when I was just a young teenager. I was 15 years old and the internet had just kind of come on the scene. You get in these forums and debate. And I was a missionary kid on the Netherlands. I didn't really have a lot to do. So I got up in these forums and I'm debating brother Wood. Man, we got the great brother Woodward. He I wish he'd have been there with me when I was in this debate because I'd have definitely won. Rod Rod lived in Alexandria right next to the Pentecostals of Alexandria. And needless to say, he was not a big fan. He was a a Baptist pastor. And uh and he wasn't mean. He just had me sold that there were three. I I always made the statement, "I'm not going to hell for nobody. >> And if this is wrong, I want to know it's what I want to know." And I remember the cold chill that came over me. When I thought my dad's wrong, it was 2:00 in the morning cuz I was on their time and y'all were on y'all's time. And I went in my dad's room and I shook him and I had tears in my eye and I said, "Dad, there's not one God. There's three. There's three persons in the Godhead." My dad said, "What?" He go back in there and pray about it. We'll talk about it in the morning. It's 2 o'clock in the morning. You know what I'm saying? He said, "You go pray." So I went in his office, little office. He had a red chair and I got down on that chair and I said, "Jesus, I need to know cuz I'm not going to be lost because my daddy believes this." If it's heresy like Rod and Alexander said Alexandria says and if there's three in the in the Godhead and and Jesus is the second person in in in in the Trinity and and and I just need you to I need you to tell me because I don't want to be lost and and I I don't know how long I prayed but I sat up and I sat down in that chair and my Bible was opened and there was Colossians 1:15 and it said who is the image of the invisible God and the hope that some of y'all still don't know what that means. That means the Holy Ghost came in and God said, Matthew, it's the image of the invisible. It's the flesh of the spirit. The father is the Jesus is the father in the flesh. It's it's it's him. They're they're the same. There's not. And I remember I remember I got up and I went into my daddy's room and I said, "Daddy, I was wrong. There's only one God. There's only one God. And that was great. But just a couple weeks ago, Brother Ursan got up to preach. >> And I didn't need a new fancy thought. He just started preaching the oneness of God. And you know what happened? All of a sudden, I felt it come back down in me, Brother Woodward. Uh, and I begin to shout and I begin to dance because I haven't lost my soul. I wish there'd be somebody just give him praise cuz you know who he is. Yeah. Yeah. You ought to just Brother Jennings just lives 20 minutes from me. So he was down the other week for his singing lessons. And why? What? What are you all laughing? How do you think he got that good? And after I, you know, we went through a few things, I said, "I think you could stay for Wednesday night." He got to singing and to preaching. I got my boy. That's why I threw you this picture. That was the first time he's 14. And on a Wednesday night, we just started running those aisles. And you can say, "Well, I you know, you're a preacher now." and and you don't you don't you know you're you're you're you know you're preaching I I know but maybe it's oldfashioned but I still like >> dancing. The other Sunday night, I got down there with him and I just started rolling on the fly. Just >> Woo! Hey, preacher, are you feeling a little low? Get your soul back. Get your shouting back. Get your Get your soul. I'm I'm going on the fast forward button. >> But you know what? You know what your marriage needs? >> It It don't need more stuff. >> Just needs soul. >> I know, preachers, we can preach to a crowd and anoint the sick. >> Let me just remind us all while we're in the mess we're in today. Yes sir. >> It's because old Adam everything he everything he called that's how he was it wasn't like God was testing him to see if they would agree. No God created the earth gave him the the management power and said whatever you say it is what it will be. And then God took something from him because sometimes he don't ask he just takes. And he took a rib but he took it and made something good. And he wakes up and he says, "Well, man, bone to my bone." That's romantic, ain't it? Bow to my bone. Flesh of my flesh. You know what's shocking to me is what's absent there. The most wonderful gift that he gave you ever received. And Adam never said thank you. I know you can preach and call the lion the lion and and he becomes a lion mighty and a panda. Oh, cute little panda. That's all you. You made him laugh on a Sunday. You made them roar on a Sunday night. >> And you can praise with the praise team at movement. >> But do you ever just get with your family? >> Come on, somebody. Do you ever just kid with your with your family and say, "You know what? Right here in the living room, we're going to praise God for his goodness to us." Hey kids, you look at this house we live in. Isn't God good? Hey, kids. Look. Hey, baby. Come on. I Hey, look. It's movement, preacher. You don't have to worry about the altar go song. You don't have to worry about what people going to sing. What you ought to do is just get with your Eve and start giving God praise. I wonder if you could praise him cuz you got soul. Praise him. >> So you got a woman in paradise but no purpose. >> You got a girl that's beautiful but no call. >> She's blessed but nobody said anything over her. She's got the house and the car, the Louis and the nice dresses and everything. But when Adam doesn't speak, >> let me just talk to your preacher's wife. Let me talk to you, preacher. I know you spent a lot of time preparing for that sermon for people that might not even hang around, >> but if you don't speak over her, Depression's going to speak over her. Anxiety is going to speak over her. Doubt is going to speak over her. >> And then she's eating. He's part of a conversation. He hears the slander, but he's silent. So, he partakes in the slander just by his silence because he couldn't speak up. He eats. >> It's amazing how the word of God has a legs. Anybody ever had a walk and it walked and the shame brought the blame and the blame brought the curse. Curse. Cursed art thou serpent. Cursed art thou woman. Cursed art thou man. cursed and in the middle of the This ain't the devil cursing you. >> Some of the trouble you're in ain't the devil, baby doll. >> Some of it's korobasa cuz you've lost your soul. >> And in the middle of the cursing in 20th3, the Bible says Adam interrupts God and he says 3 and 20 of Genesis. Do you have it? They're probably not going to believe me. Think I'm in the Quran or something. Genesis 3 and 20. They they Oh, and Adam in the middle of the cursing, he said, "I realize what I've done. I didn't call. I didn't give purpose to the thing that mattered most." And the Bible says he called Eve. Mother, preacher, I've come on the Wednesday night to say, "I know you've preached to everybody, but have you preached to your Eve? I know you prepare for the crowd, but have you preached to your kids? And whatever you do, lose the saint, but don't lose your soul. Lose the tie check, but don't lose your kids. Don't lose your soul. Go on the vacation and stop feeling guilty about it. Uh get up in the altar. You can praise with your boy. That person can wait. Go ahead, lay your hands on your wife in the middle of an anointed moment. She's more important than anything. And mama, go ahead and worship with your babies. It's okay to praise God with your family. My God, I wish I had a pastor get up out of the pew and stop looking for the next point for your Sunday morning message and just start saying, "I messed up, but I got my soul. I'm now going to lose my soul." And when he started speaking, when he called, >> when he called in 20, >> guess what God does in 21? Clothed. God didn't go back to cursing. >> God went to covering. Maybe the move of God in your family, Daddy, is just waiting on you to look your wife in the eyeballs and say, "We're going to make it." Maybe you ought to just get get without. I know you just ran the aisles by yourself and it was really cool to watch all the preachers run, but how cool would it be if a preacher could get with his wife and say, "I'm not running by myself no more. Lot let her get behind him, and I'm never letting you get behind me. Uh, I'm responsible for which way your head turns. Uh, so let me just grab you by if I got to run a little slower. I'm not running by myself. I am not losing my own soul. My dad's 71, mom's 70, and they've went to Holland 40 something years ago, sold everything they had. I watched people that he loved leave him. He gave it all. Then he started churches and people would man they'd say horrible things about him and he'd just go right back to helping them pay their bills. He would face challenge after challenge, obstacle after obstacle. But for 44 years of my life, I've watched him. As a kid, I'd watch him with the clarinet. We didn't have praise team tracks and loops. We had a clarinet. My mom playing the accordion and she wasn't good at it. He didn't just play the clarinet. He could jump and play the clarinet at the same time. And if I wasn't jumping, the clarinet had a little motion that went like, "Hey bud, we're apostolic. We got soul in our family." When when we're praising, we're praising together cuz we've got. And if you come divider on Sunday morning, Sunday night, or Wednesday night, you'll find a gray-haired missionary that never sits on the back or the second row. He's right there. And you know what he's still doing? He's doing this every Sunday. Cuz he might have been hurt. He might have been through some defeat, but he's still got I wish I had a great heldhaired elder that's been through some turmoil and stress, but you can say, "I've still got my steal my people, but you can't steal my soul. Take my househ, but you can't take my soul. Devil, you come against my health, but I've still got my soul. I know I can quit, but I >> I came all the way. >> I give me three, three and a half, four minutes. >> Just want to help you, preacher. >> Encourage you, >> Pastor Tuttle. I'm just feeling burned out. All right, I'm going to tell you why. Now, get ready. As a lady that takes my blood says big poke. For what what is a hope of a hypocrite? Though he hath gained when God hath taken away his soul. There's no quicker way to lose your soul than to pretend. >> Pretending will eat up your soul. You're trying to pretend to be what you're not. >> I tried that. I tried to preach like them and pastor like them and be like so and so and shout like so and so and I got to run like so and so and so and let me tell you what is a a a pretender's paradise is social media. >> I got to be like them. I got to do like them. I got to Hey, pastor, you don't even have to pretend to be perfect. >> You're human. Yes, God will judge you at a higher level, but I didn't come to judge you at a higher level. You're my brother. You're my sister, and I'm here for you. And let's let me just remind you that God cannot anoint what you pretend to be. You need to I know you're sitting there all cute little little preachers's wife cuz you look at all the other preachers wife and you got to do it just like this. But inside of you there's something screaming that wants to run up to this front. Throw yourself down and say I don't get it back. Get your soul back. You don't have to shout like her. You don't have to be like her. Be what God has called you to be. I wonder if you could just be you in your pew. If you could just shout you in your pew. If you could just dance like you. Get your soul back, pastor. Get your I'm done. I'll just quit. I'm done. Everybody stand. >> I'm done. I'll skip the rest. >> The Lord is my shepherd. >> I shall not want. >> He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadth me a beside. So what? He Man, y'all didn't know this one either. He restores my >> as the deer, >> the wounded deer, >> pentth for the water. But not just the water, the water brooks. >> I I don't need a pond cuz it's stagnant. >> Don't take me to a lake where it doesn't move. Get me to a place where my soul can be restored. For out of your belly shall flow. I need a river. I need a church with a soul. I need a preacher that still runs the aisles. I need a I need somebody that still And I'm going to tell you what your wounded soul what your h it needs. It needs somebody that'll grab it by the hand and say, "Let's keep running. Let's keep running, brother Garinette. Let's keep going. Let's keep living. Let's not lose our soul all across this house. And you're I'm going to do something. God didn't tell me how to end. He said he'd tell me at the end. >> If you're a pastor, I don't care the size of the church. Would you raise your hand? If your wife is here, I want you to take her by the hand and I want you to come to the altar. I want you to We always make room for priority boarding for the sinners and all that, but I just need you to get up here. Get up here. I'm not anointed to be a harvester, but tonight I'm anointed to pray a prayer that's going to restore some soul in you. And just like the harvester shouts three and you receive it for the first time, I'm going to shout three. And you're going to receive it for the thousandth time. But with it, there's going to be a renewing. And I know you've come through some stuff. But I'm looking at pastors, preachers, preachers, wives, prophets, evangelists, missionaries. I'm looking at Sunday school teachers. I'm looking at pastor's wives. And you know what I see? I see that you might have some skin knees, but you still got your soul. You still got your soul. And on the count of three, I'm going to pray it again. Here's what I want. You know what? I just feel to do this. If you're a saint in the church, would you lift your hands? If you love your pastor and you love ministry, I want you to step out from where you if you don't love them, that's fine. You stay where you're at. But if you if you if you're a hater, you stay. But if you're a lover, you come on up in behind. You come on in behind. You come you come on in behind here. Come on, pastor. Step up just a little bit. And now listen. I'm going to take it back. On the count of three, you don't have to shout, "Good God, you have to do that all week long." You're like, "That's the last thing I want to do." Like Mark Crowder sings wrote this song like, "We just haven't done enough yet." My wife looked at me Sunday night crying. I love Mark. She said, "I can't do anything else. God almighty, y'all have worked so hard. You've been through hell." And on the count of three, they're going to shout. Saints, lift your hands towards the ministry right now. I don't care if you shout or dance or run, but all of a sudden, when on the count of three, I'm going to tell you what's going to happen. On the count of three, you're going to feel preacher's wife. You're going to feel it. Hey, preacher, don't you start looking at another preacher to shout with him like you need a brother. No, you need your Eve. If your wife's not here, you can get with a friend. But otherwise, you need to be with your family right now. I say it with a holy uncction and an authority to be with your family. And on the count of three, you're going to feel something begin to come over you. And I want you just to worship like you. Forget that you're the pastor's wife. Forget for just a moment you're the pastor. And for just a moment, get your soul. Just let be you. And let that anointing come fresh on you. Uh on the count of three, every saint of God from the depths of your soul. I need it to be a shout that has intentional sound. Come on. Not just sound, but it needs to sound intentionally like triumph. A triumphant cry is about to come forth echoing through the four chambers of your heart across the walls into heaven. Are you ready? Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, uh I rebuke every spirit, every demonic force, uh whether it's of man or of hell. I rebuke fear, anxiety, depression. Uh I rebuke father the spirit of competition within the body. Uh and I release a fresh fire uh and a fresh anointing. Uh I release a fresh authority in the spirit. Uh I release joy that is going to become strength for the weary. Uh I release hope for the spirit of anxiety. Uh in the name of Jesus on the count of three. 1 2 3 Jesus. Go ahead, preacher. Get your soul. I got my soul. I've got my soul. Yeah. Yay. Yay. Lay your hands on her head and prophesy to her. Lay your hands on his head and bless him. Lay your hands on your children. Go ahead, prophesy. Go ahead and let the gifts of the spirit move. Let the anointing flow through. Go ahead, say to God. Let your praise loose. Let your praise loose. Let your praise carry your pastor. Let your praise carry the first lady. Let your praise begin to lift. I know you praised him for yourself, but I need you to praise him for the man that God put in your life. Praise him. Praise him. Heat up here. Heat up here. and I see O Y and I see Why is here and God see victory victory victory victory. Do you got it victory victory? Sing if you got it. >> Let me see you clap your hands. I got it. Push your way through. >> A while ago, I didn't make you shout because I felt weariness. But as we begin to pray, there was strength. >> And you came and you like my wife Sunday night, you said, "I just I'm weary and I don't feel it." When we don't feel it, I teach this all the time. When we don't feel it, you know what we do when we don't feel it? We force it. From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffered with violence and the violent take it by. Hey preacher, I know you're up against something and there's a feeling of I just can't anymore. When you don't feel it, you've got to force. That's what a shout is. A shout is forced air across stretched vocal cords. And when you've stretched yourself to the max, but you force a praise beyond what you feel, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence. There's victory in the spirit realm. When you begin to push, and right now, I know you're so weary, but I feel like there's healing that's going to come when you just begin. I know we're tired. It's 9:30. Honestly, I want to go eat that coconut cakes killer. But right now, there's just a miracle waiting right here. We're right on the edge of forcing our flesh past what we feel. And I know I know it's a big ask. I know you're tired, but one more time right where you are. those in need of a miracle. You don't have to go crazy, but if you could just lift your voice one more time and you just begin to worship God as I'm praying. There's healing virtue that's about to be released in the force. in the force by the authority of the word of God in the name of Jesus Christ to the financial to the spirit of infirmity that is wrecking the body I rebuke you in the name of Jesus to the spirit of vexation that's bringing perpetual weariness I rebuke you in the name of Jesus Jesus, that which vexes uh the mind in the form of heaviness and depression, uh I rebuke you in the name of it, Jesus. Y'all sing it. God made it. God God made it. Everything the devil. God made it. You want to tear down stone tonight. I church tonight. I'm tearing down strongholds for my sake. Get your soul back. Get your praise back. Get your victory back. I see some runners. I wonder if there's a few more people that will just run. You've been wanting to run this whole time. You might as well go ahead and do it. You've been wanting to go this whole time. Go ahead. Come on. Just run up here and run on over, you know. Come on. Just run. Don't take out the bishop, but run. The bishop is running. Remember the race is not given to the slip of the stroke, but he got endurance to the end. You ain't even got to run fast. You ain't even got to run fast. Go ahead, sister and praise him. Come on, keep it moving on this side. You're backing up traffic. Now, I know some of y'all think this is crazy. But if you would push your flesh out of the way for about 30 seconds. I looked at Brother Hammond earlier. I said, "I'm feeling real crazy here tonight. The man of God's already preached a prophetic word in this house, but God is just waiting on somebody to respond and go one step further. You might look good in your suit tonight, but God is about to break something in your church, in your family, in your youth group, in your sanctuaries, but you got to move tonight. You got to move. Run, brother. Run. I'm move. Jesus, move. Somebody roll. Somebody else. Somebody around. Do it, brother. Do it, brother. Do it. Heat. Heat. Just run. I'm not losing my soul. My church is not losing their soul. My youth group is not losing their soul. I'm going to live to see it happen.
