Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
The decree that brought them to Bethlehem
- A decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed, and it brought Joseph with Mary to Bethlehem to be taxed.
- The days were accomplished while they were there, and she brought forth her firstborn son and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Scriptures: Luke 2:1-7
From the curse to the blessing
- The old covenant closes in Malachi with the threat of a curse on the earth, turning the heart of the fathers to the children.
- The new covenant opens in Matthew with the book of the generation of Jesus Christ.
Scriptures: Malachi 4:6; Matthew 1:1
Shepherds, wise men, and the Word made flesh
- John testifies that the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, full of grace and truth.
- The shepherds returned glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
- The wise men, warned of God in a dream, departed into their own country another way rather than return to Herod.
Scriptures: John 1:14; Luke 2:20; Matthew 2:12
Making room for the Messiah
- The appeal divides life into the years before Christ and the year of our Lord, and asks which side of that line the hearer is living on.
- He invites the house to leave the old life at the altar, to make room for the Messiah in the life, the heart, and the mind.

can we give the Lord a great praise here this morning he is worthy of all our praise he is worthy of our worship come on you ought to just stand on your feet one more time and just begin to praise him thank you Jesus thank you Jesus you're always on time you're always there I may not feel it I may not see it but you're always there it may feel like you're not going to show up but you're always on time what a great God he is and what a magnificent savior that we serve and I'm so thankful that I know him I'm so glad to be home no other place I'd rather be than right here at fac Knoxville and uh my roots are here and I'm thankful for what God has done in my life because of this church and because of this Christian School I wouldn't be standing before you without those two things and I'm thankful for that in my life I give tremendous honor uh to your pastoral team the Dream Team the muls and the Whitley I love and appreciate them very much if it wasn't for the verbal lessons that I learned from Bishop and Pastor I I don't know where I would be today but it wasn't just the verbal lessons it was the non-verbal lessons that I learned because these men are Men of Integrity men of character men of righteousness and I'm thankful uh for these two men of God and their wives and their families I'm thankful for all of you thank you for being in the house of God I know you've been standing for a few minutes and so have I and I'm going to be standing for about another hour and a half while I preach I'm just kidding if you have your Bible turn with me to Luke the 2 chapter Luke the 2 chapter so good to be here Luke the second second chapter verse number one and it came to pass in those days that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed and this taxing was first made when cenus was governor of Syria and all went to be taxed everyone into his own City and Joseph also went up From Galilee out of the city of Nazareth into Judea unto the city of David which is called Bethlehem because he was of the house and lineage of of David to be taxed with Mary his espouse wife being great with child and so it was that while they were there the days were accomplished that she should be delivered she brought forth her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a Manger because there was no room for them in the end I want to preach to you on this thought here this morning ano domini and hopefully it'll make a little more sense in just a minute would you set your Bible down would you lift your hands would you lift your heart would you help me pray in this house Lord we love you and we thank you for who you are we're thankful for this day we're thankful for this season of the year God what it means to us we're thankful for our savior that was born God I ask you right now to anoint me to preach your word and God anoint your people to hear your word to receive your word and to respond to your word speak to our hearts and our lives here today God let us leave here different than what we walked in God we give you praise praise for what you're going to do in this place in the mighty matchless name of Jesus Christ we pray amen why don't we clap our hands one more time and the Bible says not only to clap but to shout can you add a shout to your hand clap [Music] hallelujah thank you [Music] Jesus thank you you may be seated here today the birth of Jesus Christ the Messiah our Lord and savior when God became flesh and dwelt Among Us his birth split time as we know it and our Gregorian calendar into two categories and each epic gets its own name BC which means before Christ and AD which does not mean after death which most of us think that it means but ad actually means anod dominant I which is Latin for in the year of the Lord everything that happened before his miraculous birth that the angels declar to some sleepy eyed Shepherds in Bethlehem every year and every event before that Monumental moment in history is termed and declared as BC or before Christ oh but when he came every everything changed in one moment history changed the past changed the present changed the future changed everything changed in one moment nothing would be the same again nothing would remain the same not even the calendar Christ had come there would never be a BC a before Christ ever again now there would only be an A and N O Domini which means the year of our Lord and as a matter of fact even your Bible that you read is divided in half by this great event the Old Testament representing BC before Christ the New Testament a anod domini the year of the Lord look no further than the closing verse of the Old Testament to find out what life was like living in the BC before Christ time frame cu the very last last verse of your Bible in the Old Testament is Malachi 4 and6 and it says he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children and the Heart of the children to their fathers lest I come and smite the Earth with a curse so the BC before Christ Old Testament part of your Bible the very last words of the last verse in ends in these words with a curse because that is what life is living in the BC part that is what life is before Christ it is a hopeless hurting headache of a constant and consistent curse there's really no other way to describe living without Christ without him you are living a curse you're living a cursed life you have a cursed future on your way to a cursed eternity but but just like any good novel don't stop reading don't stop at the curse that might be the end of that verse that chapter that book that Testament and that era of time but turn the page one more time there is another verse there is another chapter there is another book there is another Testament there is another era of time there is an ad there is an anod domini the year of the Lord because one turn of the page turns to Matthew 1 and one and it says this is the book of the generation of Jesus Christ see one verse ends with a curse but another begins with a curse breaker Jesus Christ one ends with BC and another begins with a d one ends with before Christ and the other begins with an odoni one Testament is old and without the Messiah but the other test is new and with the Messiah and I've just come on a Sunday morning to preach to somebody you can start new right here on this Sunday morning you may have walked in BC before Christ but you can leave with the curse breaker in your life you can leave with Jesus Christ Living inside of you there were 400 years between the old test in the New Testament that means 400 years of Silence 400 years with no fresh Vision 400 years of no Pro Prophecy with over 400 prophecies waiting to be fulfilled 400 years of waiting and wondering 400 years of anticipating and questioning 400 years of living BC before Christ 400 years without a word from heaven until John 1:14 happened and the Word was made flesh and it dwelt among us and we beheld his glory the glory of the only begotten father full of grace and truth an Odon took place the Messiah the Savior had come to this wicked world and there would never be a BC there would never be a before Christ ever again see BC before Christ there was no joy but ad and odini and the angel said unto them fear not for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people BC before Christ there was no peace but ad and oini glory to God in the highest and on Earth peace Good Will toward men before Christ there was no life or light but ad and O domini in him was life and the life was the light of men before Christ there was no hope but ad and oini to whom God would make known that what the riches of the glory this mystery among the Gentiles which is Christ in you the hope of glory BC before Christ there is no telling there is no way to even find it out there's no way to calculate it how many Untold millions of animals were sacrificed how many countless billions of gallons of blood were shed in a feudal attempt to Pardon sin all of those those animals and all of their blood would only pacify God but never satisfy God but guess what happened Adan odini happened and the next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him and he said Behold the Lamb of God all those other Lambs couldn't get the job done all that blood that was spill couldn't get the job done but John said Here Comes one there's a nano Domina getting ready to happen H Now Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away not rolls over not not covers but taketh away the sin of the world if you came here today full of fear I have a word from heaven for you it's the same words that Gabriel spoke to Zachariah and Mary it's the same words that the angel spoke to Jo Joseph and the Shepherds it's two words that are powerful fear not you don't have to live in the BC before Christ or without Christ any longer you can live in the ad and OD domini in the year of Our Lord the the angel said fear not why I know it's hopeless I know it seems dark I know it seems Bleak I know there's a lot of questions going on what's going to happen in Washington DC what's going to happen in the Middle East what's going to happen to the economy what's going to happen to our health what's going to help happen to our wealth and our families there's all kinds of questions abounding as we be end this this year and begin the new year but I've come with a word from Heaven fear not an odini is here Jesus Christ is here you don't have to worry you don't have to fret you don't have to overanalyze it you don't have to self-medicate yourself fear not God is here God Is On The Way You may be living in the BC before Christ darkness of night but just like those Shepherds you can leave this service in the light of the ad the anod domini the year of Our Lord because Luke 2 and2 tells us the Shepherds returned after they saw the baby Jesus they returned glorifying and praising God God for all the things that they had heard and seen and as it was told unto them because that's what we should do each and every time we leave this holy place every time we return home every time we return to work and we return to school and return to our everyday life we should live leave this house glorifying and praising God for all the things that we have heard and we have seen God do to us through us us and for us you may be like the wondering wise men seeking for something looking for a sign in this BC before Christ part of your life but just like the wise men you can leave this service worshiping because of the ad anod domini the year of the Lord and Matthew 2 and 12 tells us a powerful thing about those wise men and being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod they departed into their own country another way because that's what happens when you have an encounter with Christ you leave another way you never leave the same way you showed up you never walk out those doors the same way you walked in those doors you might have walked in hopeless but you can leave with hope in your life you might have walked in broken but you can walk out of here hole you might have walked in addicted but you can leave delivered you might have walked in sick but you can leave healed you might have walked in empty but you can leave filled and full you might have walked in depressed but you can leave here full of joy unspeakable and full of Glory you might have walked in defeated but you can walk out of here Victorious you can be like the wise men and leave another way then what how you arrived you might be like like Simeon of Luke the 2 chapter waiting on your promise in the BC before Christ stage of your life but you're going to see your promise fulfilled in the ad the anod domini just like Simeon did God is not a man that he should lie he will keep his promises he is a promisee keeper I don't care how long it takes and you may not even see it on this side of Glory but if God has given you a word you hold on to that word because it will come to pass hold on just a little bit longer God will not leave you God will not forsake you today or maybe you're here today and like Anna the prophetess which is also found in Luke the 2 chapter you've been fasting and praying for a long time waiting in the BC before Christ time of your life but just like Anna the prophetess you can step into the ad into the anod domini to give thanks and speak of him to all that look for Redemption today or maybe just maybe you're like Mary you feel inadequate in your BC before Christ life you are unsure that God could ever use someone like you that you could be a vessel to car carry the Holy One to this world but something is about to be birth in you it's an ad and oini moment the same holy spirit that overshadowed that virgin named Mary and deposited the seed of the Savior into her wound that same Holy Ghost is here today and he wants to overshadow you in this service this morning and he wants to deposit himself into your soul and into your spirit there might be a Joseph here this morning thinking questioning doubting contemplating fearful because he's the most overlooked character in the the the this this the Nativity Story he he's the one nobody really talks about but he had it the toughest this girl that he was getting ready to marry says she's pregnant and he's getting ready to put her away he's questioning he's about to make decisions or decisions that will forever change your life fear and uncertainty may have gripped your soul maybe they're torturing your mind here today the things that have recently happened the events that have taken place in your life they have ruined your hopes and your dreams and seemingly your life you are you are here today without a doubt living in the BC before Christ stage of your life but just like the angel told Joseph I'm here to tell somebody today the Holy Ghost is at work and God has a purpose and God has a plan he has an ad for you he has an anodin just for you don't be like the in in the in in Bethlehem that didn't have room for him it's always amazing to me Bishop they didn't have room for the one who inhabits all time and space but see that's what people living in the BC before Christ do they don't have room for him and they're busy broken and busted lives but people living in the ad an odini they have room for him you know why they make room for him they say I need you Jesus the doctor can't do it the medicine can't do it the rehab can't do it the psychologist can't do it nothing can do what Jesus can do and so I invite you into my space I invite you into my life I invite you into my mess I invite you into my Hur I invite you into my life into my heart into my mind won't be the last the last 12 months have left you wounded and wanted the last 50 or so weeks are a blur and maybe that's a good thing you spent 2024 BC before Christ but now you can spend the remainder of this year and the sooncoming new year ad and O domini we need to get a madeup mind to ensure that these waning moments of 2024 and the next year of 2025 will not be like the last year of 2024 a year of BC before Christ but that 2025 I'm want to declare it on this day that this will be the greatest year this will be my ad ano domini this will be the year of the lord it's when my family's going to come back it's when the church is going to grow to capacity it's when blessings are going to fall it's when miracles signs and wonders are getting ready to take place I prophesy on this 22nd day of December into my 2025 that it's going to be an ad an anod domini the year of the Lord could we stand musicians come Jesus is here the Messiah has come the savior was born time is forever changed the calendar is forever changed history is forever changed the world is forever changed you are forever changed I am forever changed we are forever changed never do we have to live in the BC before Christ ever again we now have and will forever more have an ad an anod domini in our life it's the year of the Lord on the day of the Lord in the house of the Lord so as you bow your heads all across this house close your eyes I wish somebody would leave the BC the before Christ at this altar today and that you would leave this place with an ad and anod domini alive and vibrant in your heart and in your life and in your mind I'm tired of status quo I'm tired of going through the motions I'm tired of the same struggle I'm tired of the same addiction I'm tired of the same heartache it's time for me to leave the BC the before Christ at his feet today and I want to walk out of here a brand new creature you don't have to leave just like the wise men left and departed another way you don't have to leave the same way you walked in you can leave this place with repentance in your heart you can leave this place baptized in the only name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved the saving name of the Lord Jesus Christ you can leave this place filled with the Holy Ghost you can leave this place with the broken pieces put back together again you can leave this place with your mind clear you can leave this place with the chains of addiction falling off of you you don't have to leave BC because the Messiah has come and he has brought restoration and salvation he has brought Freedom he has brought healing into this house I open this altar to somebody that would like to walk down and say I'm leaving the BC the before Christ at this house I'm leaving it at his feet I'm leaving it in this altar I'm walking out of here a brand new creature in Christ I'm walking out of here I'm going into the holiday season I'm going into the new year a brand new creature in Christ my family's not even going to recognize me my co-workers my classmates aren't going to recognize me why CU I'm living in the ad I'm living in the anod domini come on there's salvation in this house this morning there's healing in this house this morning there's Deliverance in this house this morning there is restoration and restitution in this house this morning come on would you just bring it to him say here it is God I'm tired of wrestling with it I'm tired of fighting it you're the only one who can do something with it you're the Messiah you're the Savior you're the way maker you're the problem solver you're the great physician I need you to step in I'm making room for the Messiah I'm making room for him in my life
