Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
A Name Above Every Name
- Everything we deal with in life has a name — the grief of mourning, illness, depression, addiction — but Paul told the church in Philippians 2:9 that there is a name that is above every name, and everything underneath that name is subject to it.
- So lift the name higher than the problem, higher than the disease, the sickness and the hurt: his name is greater than whatever we are facing today.
Scriptures: Philippians 2:9
Developed in Darkness
- The text is Job 10:21-22: before I go whence I shall not return, even to the land of darkness and the shadow of death, a land of darkness as darkness itself, and of the shadow of death without any order, and where the light is as darkness — his subject: developed in darkness.
- Pictures once had to be developed in a darkroom, because photographic paper reacts to light; the spiritual darkroom may not be popular today, but it is necessary if we are to become the beautiful picture our Creator wants us to be.
- The words dark and darkness appear twenty-nine times in the book of Job, more than in any other book of the Bible; in one day Job lost everything he had — ten children, thousands of livestock, dozens of servants — stolen, killed or destroyed.
Scriptures: Job 10:21-22
God Is the God of the Darkness
- Darkness may be the absence of light, but darkness is not the absence of God: Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was; he made darkness his secret place; clouds and darkness are round about him.
- From the opening of the Bible, God has dominion over darkness: darkness was upon the face of the deep, and God said, Let there be light, and divided the light from the darkness — but he never separated himself from the darkness.
- I form the light, and create darkness; thou makest darkness, and it is night; he sent darkness, and made it dark; and to him the darkness and the light are both alike — so if he can bless us in the light, he can bless us in the darkness, work miracles in the darkness, and have revival in the darkness.
- In creation God reckons the day from the evening to the morning: the evening is the beginning, not the ending — so the darkness is not the end of your story, it is only its beginning.
Scriptures: Exodus 20:21; Psalm 18:11; Psalm 97:2; Genesis 1:1-5; Isaiah 45:7; Psalm 104:20; Psalm 105:28; Psalm 139:12
Treasures of Darkness
- After God promised Abram a seed like the stars of the sky, a horror of great darkness fell upon him as the sun went down; then a smoking furnace and a burning lamp passed between the pieces of his sacrifice — God comes walking in the darkness in the middle of our sacrifice.
- In John 6 the disciples rowed in darkness and storm until they saw Jesus walking on the sea, crying, It is I, be not afraid; when they willingly received him into the ship, they were immediately at the land to which they went.
- Why must we be developed in darkness? I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places; he revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
- David won private battles in darkness — a lion and a bear, overlooked by his father and his brothers — before he fought public battles in the light; we are not buried in the darkness, we are planted, and weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
Scriptures: Genesis 15:12; Genesis 15:17; John 6:16-21; Isaiah 45:3; Daniel 2:22; Psalms (book-only, as spoken)
Close Your Mouth and Open Your Ears
- He hath led me, and brought me into darkness; yet it is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not — they are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness; the Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
- Thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness; unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness; and whoever walks in darkness and has no light, let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.
- God blesses from the head down, like the precious ointment that ran down Aaron's beard to the skirts of his garments; Satan attacks from the sole of the foot up, because he is under our feet, and we must never let him get any higher in our lives.
- Job's wife urged him to curse God and die, yet in all this did not Job sin with his lips; in the darkness we must do more listening than talking, for whatsoever we speak in darkness shall be heard in the light, and what God tells us in darkness we are to speak in the light.
Scriptures: Lamentations 3:2; Lamentations 3:22-25; Psalm 18:28; Psalm 112:4; Isaiah 50:10; Micah (book-only, as spoken); 2 Samuel 14:25; Psalm 133:1-2; Luke 12:3; Matthew 10:27
I Shall Come Forth as Gold
- Job was trusted to be tested: God would never have let him go through the trial if he had not known he would make it through, for God sees the end from the beginning, and Satan can only do what God allows.
- Job searched for God in the darkness — forward and backward, on the left hand and on the right — and could not perceive him; but he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
- After his life was restored — after he prayed for his friends and God gave him double for his trouble — Job confessed: I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee; developed in the darkness, he could see God more clearly than he ever had before.

you know the conventional manifestation of Sorrow for a person's death the period during which a person Grieves or formally expresses grief is known as a name it's called morning unhealthy conditions or poor health in this position a particular disease sickness or malady has a name it's called illness a condition of General emotional dejection or withdrawal sadness greater or more prolonged than that warranted by any objective reason has a name it's called depression the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychological or physically habit forming has a name it's called addiction so everything that you're going through whatever problem you brought in here today this sickness the pain the the hurt the heartache everything that we're dealing with in life has a name but I'm so thankful today for what Paul told the church in Philippians 2-9 he says that there is a name that is above every name and so it doesn't matter what name you brought in here it doesn't matter what problem that you brought in here there is a name that is above that name and if that name is above that name then everything underneath it is subjective to the name that is above it so it doesn't matter the problem it doesn't matter the sickness it doesn't matter the hurt his name is above that name and his name is greater than whatever it is you're facing and whatever it is that you're going through today so why don't you just lift up the name that is above every name come on lift it up higher than your problem lift it up your disease lift it up higher then your sickness lift it up higher then you're hurt today he is worthy of Our Praise I'm so thankful to be home today no other place I'd rather be than right here in the house of God in Knoxville Tennessee I love and appreciate this great church this Christian School I've owned I've said it before and I can honestly say it again I would not be standing here today if it wasn't for this school in this church and I want to give honor to the leadership of this great church bishop and sister McCool they are living legends of the apostolic faith and I'm so thankful that I not just that I've heard of them but that I know them I'm thankful for that and to pastor and sister McCool two of the classes sharpest people you'll ever meet no wonder their name is McCool you know because they're cool and uh so they just started two of the classiest people and brother and sister Whitley I love and appreciate them and brother and sister Nicole Anthony and sister Kelly and they're all the wonderful grandbabies aren't they beautiful and so thankful for them giving honor to my mom and dad who are watching at home please pray for them my grandmother some of you probably know took a bad spell first of the year and so they've not been able to be back they have to keep constant care with her and I know they're wanting to be here today but they're watching online and my wife wasn't able to make it she only gets a split half of the spring break with another co-worker so she wasn't able to come with me but Braxton's here today we came up for the rest of spring break and as far as I know Sister Ashley he still wants to sing in the choir and still wants to see him praise team so we're I'm thankful that he's here today if you have your Bibles turn with me to the Book of Job job the 10th chapter [Music] job the 10th chapter we're going to read verses 21 and 22. job 10. 21 and 22. excited about what God's going to do today tonight before I go Wentz thou not return even to the land of Darkness and the shadow of death a land of Darkness as Darkness itself and of the shadow of death without any order and where the light is as Darkness I want to preach to you on this simple thought today developed in darkness would you lift your hands and hearts to Heaven would you help me pray right now Lord we love you we thank you for who you are we thank you for your power we thank you for your majesty we thank you for your glory God we thank you for your spirit that we fill in this house and God I'm asking you right now to anoint me to preach your anointed word god anoint your people to hear your word to receive your word but God more importantly to respond to your word and God I give you praise for what you're going to do in this house in the mighty imagine name of Jesus we pray amen why don't you clap your hands one more time and the Bible says a shout unto God for the voice of trying can we add a shout to our hand clap hallelujah thank you Jesus thank you Jesus I'm old enough to remember when we got pictures from camera film the film had to be cut into separate pieces called negatives the negatives were then used to project the photographic images stored on them onto special photographic paper photographic paper reacts to light to produce the image taken by a camera and stored on the film and since photographic paper reacts to light pictures using camera film need to be produced by a process called developing in a room that is completely dark these special dark rooms used to develop film were called darkrooms dark rooms used red lighting to allow photographers to control light carefully so that light sensitive photographic paper would not become Overexposed and ruined the picture during the developing process because of modern technology and digital photography today dark rooms are not as popular or necessary as they once were and the spiritual dark room that we must all go to and through it may not be popular today but it is indeed necessary if we are to become the beautiful picture that our creator wants us to be we must be willing to be developed in darkness the words dark and darkness appear 29 times in the Book of Job more than any other book of the Bible and rightfully so if anyone knew what Darkness was or lived in darkness it was Poor Pitiful job Darkness so dark that the Bible in another book of the Bible describes it as darkness which may be felt the old saying is when you think you have it bad there's always somebody that has it worse but this old saying isn't true when it comes to job because nobody had it worse than job nobody in one day he lost everything that he had the Bible says the thief cometh not but to steal to kill and to destroy and that is exactly what happened to job within moments everything he owned or everything that he had was either stolen killed or destroyed he lost everything 10 children thousands of livestock dozens of servants you add all that together that equals darkness in somebody's life but before we continue on with the story of job and his being developed in darkness to Deep debunk a myth this morning Darkness might be the absence of light but darkness is not and let me repeat darkness is not the absence of God we always think that God works in the light and not in the darkness but in Exodus 20 21 it says and the people stood afar off and Moses Drew near unto the thick Darkness where God was Psalms 18 11 he made Darkness his secret place Psalms 97 and 2 clouds and darkness around about him now I know satanic Worship in the occult and black magic they claim Darkness as their own but I've come to certain notice this morning to the so-called powers of Darkness their God is not the Lord of Darkness but our God is the Lord of Darkness today look no further than the opening of your Bible in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth and the Earth was without form and void and Darkness was upon the face of the deep and the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters and God said let there be light and there was light and God saw the light that it was good and God divided the light from the darkness so in the beginning we understand that the god that we serve took dominion over Darkness he spoke to the darkness he boasted around he bullied it if you will he divided the light from the darkness or in other words he separated them but he never separated himself from Darkness Isaiah 45 and 7 says I form the light and create Darkness how the Lord do all these things Psalms 104 20 thou make his darkness and it is not Psalms 105 28 he sent darkness and made it dark Psalms 139 and 12 yea the darkness hideth not from thee but the night shineth as the day the darkness and the light are both a light to thee so understand light and darkness are different to us but to God it's the same and I know we always talk about I'm living in the light and and I want to be in the light and and this and that in the line we always talk about the good times in the light and the bad times are in the darkness but the Bible is clear light and darkness are the same to him so you know what that tells me today that lets me know that if he can bless me in the light he can bless me in the Darkness if we can have Revival in the light we can have Revival in the darkness he can perform miracles in the light he can perform miracles in the darkness there is no difference to him he is the god of the light and he is the god of the darkness today in Genesis 15 God has told Abram he wasn't even Abraham yet God tells Abram he's going to bless him he's going to give him a a seed he's going to bless him and his seed would be like the stars of the sky once again a reference to Darkness and Abraham after God makes this Covenant with him Abraham makes a sacrifice he takes a heifer a goat a ram a dove and a pigeon and he divides them literally in two pieces and he lays one piece on this side and one piece on that side and we pick up the story in Genesis 15 and 12. it says when the sun was going down a deep sleep fell upon Abram and lo a horror of great Darkness now it's one thing for Darkness but it's another thing when it's a great Darkness and it's even another thing when it's a horror of great Darkness in verse 17 says that it came to pass that when the sun went down and it was dark Behold a smoking furnace and a burning lamp that passed between the pieces so get the scene God makes a covenant with Abraham Abraham makes a sacrifice to God and then a horror of great Darkness Falls on Abraham and he goes to sleep he's in a time of uncertainty yes he just got a promise yes God has just gave him a a promise of what he's going to do but now Darkness has set in and that's just like the enemy when God will give us a promise there'll always be some Darkness after and he's lying there in the darkness afraid and unsure and all of a sudden after he dozes off he's awakened to the sound of feet splashing in the blood and he looks and notice what happens God comes walking with a smoking furnace with a light in the darkness but notice where God is walking God is walking in the darkness in the middle of his sacrifice you know what that tells me today that tells me that there's been some people in here that you've been unsure about the promise that God has given you but you made sacrifice anyway you've been struggling but you made sacrifice anyway and now Darkness has hit your life uncertainty has hit your life Calamity has hit your life but can I tell you today the god of Darkness the god of our world is getting ready to come walking through the sacrifice some of you sacrifice money some of you sacrifice time some of you sacrifice dreams and hopes let me tell you it's not ever when I noticed God is getting ready to walk into your Darkness today God is getting ready to walk into the second sacrifice [Music] [Applause] in John the sixth chapter verse 16. when evening was now come his disciples went down into the sea and they entered into a ship and went over the sea toward Capernaum and it was now dark and Jesus was not come to them it's one thing to be dark it's another thing when Jesus sitting in the boat with you and the Sea arose by reason of the great wind that blew so when they had rolled about 5 and 20 or 30 furlongs they see Jesus walking on the sea and drawing nigh into the ship and they were afraid and rightfully so if you're in a boat and it's night time you're a little unsure but now a storm has hit so it makes it even worse and now you see somebody walking on the water that would freak me out alone just seeing somebody doing that but then all of a sudden when they think their ship is about to capsize when they think the darkness is getting ready to engulf them a voice cries out from the darkness and it says this it is I be not afraid and I can't help but think that there's somebody here today you're in a storm you're in darkness and fear has gripped your life but let me tell you that same voice that spoke on the Sea of Galilee to a 12 word disciples in darkness and a storm is the same voice that is speaking in this service this morning and he is saying to somebody in this house be not afraid it is I I'm getting ready to step into your Darkness I'm getting ready to step into your storm I'm getting ready to step on and speak and speak in your life today in verse 21 says and they willingly received him into the ship see that's the key today if you're in a storm you're in darkness you've got to willingly I'm not going to try to cycle analyze myself out of this storm I'm not going to try to buy my way out of this storm I'm not going to try to educate myself out of this storm I'm going to willingly receive the storm calmer back into the boat because as soon as his foot his sandal foot sandal clad foot hit the boards of that boat the Bible said the storm disappeared and not just that but they were halfway to their destination when the storm hit and as soon as Jesus stepped on board they were already at the other side can I tell somebody if you'll let him come on board today if you'll receive him into your Darkness if you'll receive him into the storm God's going to bring you through this trial God's gonna bring you through the storm today [Applause] some of you are asking a question I've asked it myself why do we have to go through the darkness why do we have to be developed in the Darkness it's very simple Isaiah 45-3 says this and I will give thee the treasures of Darkness and hidden Riches of secret places that thou mayest know that I the Lord which have called thee by thy name am the god of Israel Daniel 2 22 he revealeth the deep and secret things he knoweth what is in the darkness and the light dwelleth with him why do you have to be developed in darkness it's very simple there are some treasures and there are some secrets that you will never come to you will never develop you will never discover if you're always living in the light and never in the darkness but when you get into the darkness and God starts developing you he's getting ready to give you Treasures that when you come out of the darkness you'll be greater than you were before there's some secrets in the darkness that he's going to reveal and when you get done being developed in the darkness you're coming out greater you're coming out with Secrets Revealed and treasures ever more you know who else was developed in darkness David before he was ever discovered in the light he was developed in darkness he killed a lion and a bear in obscurity and darkness there was no fanfare there was nobody holding signs cheering him on there was no women singing Saul has slain his thousands and David his ten thousands he had to win some private battles in darkness before he could fight some public battles in the light because God always rewards private devotion and darkness with public promotion in the light because Discovery before development leads to destruction that's what happened to his predecessor Saul Saul was discovered before he was developed and it led to destruction in his life but David was developed and then discovered and God did great things for him and I'm sure that David felt buried in the darkness he was looked down upon by his brothers he was completely overlooked and forgotten by his father but David was anointed and sometimes hear me today sometimes when you're in a dark place you feel like you're buried beneath the weight of this world but you're not buried actually you're being planted and those that try to bury you didn't realize that you were a seed and with those dark and painful tears that you have been crying those tears are watering the seed that is buried in the earth and your praise and your worship are going to germinate that seed and it will grow so don't underestimate what God is doing in this season of your life it may be part but God's getting ready to do something amazing God's getting ready to spring something forth in your life no wonder the psalmist said weepy may endure for a night Prairie the darkness is just tearing it in for just a night but guess what's around the corner just cometh in the in the morning you must right now 's way Darkness may not stay forever but morning is coming and joy is coming today [Applause] matter of fact Dark Times are life-giving times think about it you grow not this way but this way in the darkness when you're sleeping your body heals itself when you're resting and you're sleeping in the darkness your mind gets reset when you're resting in the darkness so dark times are life-giving times dark times are times for growth dark times are times for healing so instead of trying to get out of the darkness and break embrace the darkness today and praise tonight and let God heal you today let God begin to make something great out of you you're growing in the darkness you're healing in the darkness today in the beginning of the Bible in in the creation story it's always amazed me how the verbiage because it's different than our verbiage because in our life morning signifies the beginning of our day our alarm goes off we get up we get our coffee we brush our teeth we get dressed take our shower whatever it is we do that begins our day and then when the night Falls that's a signify that it's time to get in bed our day is done but in creation the verbage is different because it says these words in the evening in the morning or the first day the evening and the morning or the second day the evening in the morning or the third day and so on and so on so God looks at a day differently than what we look at a day we believe that morning is the beginning and evening is the ending but God it's reversed the evening is the beginning to him so the darkness is not the end of your story it's only the beginning of your story you need to quit lying or listening to the lies of the adversary today that he's trying to tell you that this Darkness you're in God has given up on you and God has separated himself and God has given up on you and he's done with you that's not the story today the evening and the morning is how God looks at a day and the evening is just the beginning he's just starting on you he's just forgetting on you and God is getting ready to bring you out of the darkness [Music] Lamentations 3 and 2 says he hath led me and brought me Into Darkness so see there's times he takes us into the darkness he has set me in Dark Places as they that be dead of old now if we stop reading right there we understand why this book of the Bible is called Lamentations but don't stop reading there skip down to verse 22. it is of the Lord's Mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fell not they are new every morning great is thy faithfulness the Lord is my portion saith my soul wherefore will I hope in him the Lord is good unto them that wait for him to the soul that seeketh him so let me tell somebody you might be in darkness right now but not only is Joy coming in the morning but he's making his mercies new every morning and if you'll just hold on just a little bit longer God's getting ready to do something amazing in your life that's why he says in Psalms 18 28 for thou will light my candle the Lord my God will Enlighten my darkness Psalms 1 12 and 4 unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness he is gracious and full of compassion and righteous Isaiah 50 and 10 who is among you that feareth the Lord that obeyeth the voice of his servant that walketh in darkness and hath no light let him trust in the name of the Lord and stay upon his God that's the key today if you're in darkness just trust him and stay on him because I cannot see in the darkness I'm just going to trust him in the darkness I'm just going to trust him while I'm being developed today Micah says Rejoice not against me on my enemy when I fall I shall arise and when I sit in darkness the Lord shall be a light unto me now back quickly I'm trying to hurry back quickly to the story of Job we know it job the first chapter God is sitting there Satan comes before him God says where you been he said I've been up and down to and fro in other words he's been looking for somebody's life to and God does something that it messes with my theology God says have you considered my servant job there's nobody like him he's perfect he loves me he hates evil I've blessed him he's got 10 children he's got thousands he's got he's the richest man he's the greatest man in this entire world and Satan says well God that's why he loves you because you've been so good to him you let me mess with the things you've given him and I'll show you what job is made of and so God says all right do whatever you want to but you can't you can't touch him and you know the story Satan immediately leaves the presence of God he starts messing with job's life Joe's sitting on the front porch drinking a glass of lemonade and that's the that's the miv mopping international version don't Google eliminating the Bible servant comes running from the field ervinson they've taken the animals and they've only left me because that's how the enemy operates he'll always leave that one negative voice to speak in your life you can be right in the middle of the greatest season of Revival and blessings and to always be that one person that wants to send that text message or or give you that Facebook post and and tag you in it that'll speak negativity in your life and as soon as he's as he's done speaking another comes running look hey I'm sorry to tell you Joe but I know your day is bad but it's getting ready to get worse we were out in the field with the animals and and lightning struck and and it killed everybody but me and all your animals are dead and while he's talking another one comes and says job I know your day is horrible but it's getting ready to get worse all 10 of your children we're having a party and a tornado came ripping through the valley and it knocked the house down upon him and job I'm sorry to tell you I'm the only one that survived the tornado and we understand what job does next he rents his clothes he falls on his face he says the Lord gives the lord taketh away but blessed be the name of the Lord and then so the Bible calls it he worshiped God so then that ends chapter 1 second chapter begins the same way Satan comes before God God says where you been up and down to and fro and God says have you considered my servant job now if job could have heard this Joe would have said thanks but no thanks God I've had all I can handle and God still had faith in him and can I tell somebody here today that if God didn't have faith in job he would have never let job go through the trial if he didn't think that job could go through the trial he would have never let job go through the trial because God has an eternal perspective and God sees the end from the beginning so God knew that job was going to make it through the trial or he would have never let him go through the trial so in other words job was trusted to be tested he was trusted to be tried and if you're being developed in darkness today you need to understand God's not mad at you he's not angry at you but he's actually got faith in you that you're going to make it through on the other side or he would have never let you go through it have you considered Joe or God if you let me mess with him I'll show you what he's made of God says do whatever you want just don't kill him so it lets me know that Satan can only do what God allows him Satan's not God's equal he has to ask permission from God and everything he does and so Satan leaves the presence of God and the Bible says that he smites job with sore boils once again notice the verbiage here because we always say from the top of our head to the souls of our feet but the Bible says from the soul of his foot and to his crown and it reminds me of the wording and in second Samuel 14 25 but in all of Israel there was none to be so much praise as Absalom for his Beauty from the soul of it once again from the soul of his foot to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him so notice Satan attacks from the from the foot to the Head Absalom is working in Pride which is one of Satan's greatest tools that got him kicked out of heaven he is operating in Pride and the Bible doesn't say from the top of his head that sows his feet were no blemish the Bible says from the soul of his feet to the top of his head but notice how God works Psalms 133 and 33 how good and how pleasant it is from Brethren to dwell together in unity it's like the precious ointment upon the head that ran down the beard even Aaron's beard it went down to the skirts of His Garment so God blesses from the head down and Satan attacks from the foot up do you know why that is because that's where he's at he's under our feet and if you ever let him get any higher in your life you're letting him have dominion in your life so every once in a while I just want to stop my foot and remind him that he has no Authority in my life he has no Authority in my health he has no Authority in my marriage he has no Authority in my finances he's under my feet today so in chapter one Satan takes everything job has but job was still able to Worship the Lord and in chapter 2 Satan attacks his body what he used to Worship the Lord with with sore boils sore boils on his feet so he couldn't dance without pain sore boils on his legs so he couldn't run her Leap for Joy without pain sore boils on his backside so he couldn't sit in the presence of the Lord without pain sore boils on his back so he couldn't lay down and rest in peace without pain sore boils on his chest so he couldn't Embrace in Love Without Pain sore boils on his hands so that he couldn't do a work for the Lord or clap his hands without pain sir boils on his arm so he couldn't lift him in Praise without pain sore boils on his head so that he couldn't think clearly without pain and the next time we see job he's sitting literally in a trash Heap sackcoff and Ashes and he reaches down and he takes a piece of broken pottery and he begins to scrape himself can you imagine the scene first of all it's bad enough to have one boil but to have boils completely covering your body where one ends another one begins and and so no wonder he's trying to find some relief he finds a piece of broken pottery and he begins to scrape himself and he begins to break open the sores so they can begin to heal and I believe that's something we need to hear today I believe somebody in this house today you need to take what's broken in your life and begin to break open the sores and the wounds in your life and let God begin to administer healing in this house and we haven't heard from Sister job to this point she steps in the scene and I guarantee you once again this isn't in the Bible but I guarantee you she gave him the look and you married men know what I'm talking about see some of you won't even shake your head or smile because you're afraid she'll give you the look this morning she looks at him and she says Dost thou still retain that Integrity Curse God and die he says Thou speaketh as a foolish woman speaketh what shall we receive good at the hand of God and shall we shall we not receive evil and I want you I've preached on this I've taught on this I've heard preaching but something jumped at me from this scripture not too long ago and notice this in all this did not job sin with his lips with his mouth and the reason that jumps out at me this morning I want you to get a hold of it today because if you flip over to the New Testament Luke 12 and 3. Jesus says therefore whatsoever you have have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light so in other words you need to close your mouth and open your ears while being developed in darkness because Jesus says in Matthew 10 27 what I tell you in darkness that speak you in light so in other words when I'm being developed in darkness I need to close my mouth and open my ears so that what I hear in darkness I can speak in the light and if I do it the other way what I'm speaking negative in the darkness is going to hurt me in the light but if I'll close my mouth and listen to the voice of God he's going to give me a fresh word for somebody when I come out of the darkness and into the light today so make sure you're doing more listening than talking while you're being developed we know the Bible is a book of numbers but it's also a book of colors colors are very important and instrumental and the colors blue and purple are synonymous with royalty the Bible speaks often in these two colors especially in the creating of the Tabernacle and the temple Furnishings the veils the doors and the curtains it is also found in the ephod and the garments that are worn by the high priest and the color blue reminds us of the sky in heaven which are God's throne room and the color purple reminds us of royalty and that our savior is the king of kings and recently scientists and Studies have found through research that they have discovered where people in the Biblical times got the color purple in the color blue and they have found that it came from the exact same place demurex trunculus snail which ironically is found in the deep dark Waters of the Mediterranean Sea but they have researchers have recently discovered that if they would extract the dye from this snail during the day the color of the dye would come out blue but if they extract the dye from the exact same snail during Darkness the color will come out purple so the very die that is used in the wilderness Tabernacle and the Glorious temple of God the purple color that we find in the anointed clothing of the high priest that purple dye was literally developed in darkness and before we can be used in this Tabernacle and before we can be used in this Temple we have to and before we can be the anointed priesthood royal priesthood that he wants us to be a part of yes we need the light of Heaven to shine on us but you know what else we need we need to be developed in darkness before God can truly make us into what he wants us to become today and as we stand in our draw to a close back to the story of job job the 23rd chapter job 23 8 behold I go forward but he's not there and backward but I cannot perceive him on the left hand where he does work but I cannot Behold Him he hideth himself on the right hand that I cannot see him well no wonder job couldn't see God he was in darkness God I can't see you because I'm in darkness I'm feeling for you I'm going forward I'm going back I'm I'm reaching on the left I'm reaching on the right but God I can't find you but job doesn't stop there but I I believe that Joe gives a prophetic word in verse number 10 of that same chapter but he knoweth the way that I take I may not know what he's doing and I may not even know what I'm doing but he knows what I'm doing and he knows what he's doing for when he had tried me not if because if you really want to be used by God it's not about if it's about when when he had tried me when he had developed me in darkness notice what job says next here's the prophetic word I shall come forth as gold and the reason he's speaking a prophetic word there is because gold doesn't shine in darkness gold only shines in the light so what job is saying is I'm not shining right now because I'm in darkness I'm frustrated I'm questioning I'm hurting I'm struggling but guess what I'm not staying in this Darkness forever but I'll come out of this darkness and when I do I'm Gonna Shine like pure gold Hallelujah and after job had his life restored after he prayed for his friends and God gave him double for his trouble double portion blessing job says these powerful words in job 42 and 5. I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear but now my eye seethy I couldn't see you when I was being developed in darkness I was looking I was going forward and back left and right but now God after I've been developed now I can see you clearer than I've ever seen you before and so after job was developed into darkness he was able to see God clearly and so I want to ask each and every one of us as we bow our heads today are you willing to be developed in darkness to see him today are you willing to be developed in darkness to become what he wants you to become today are you willing to be developed in darkness so that he can transform you from a negative into a beautiful picture of his goodness his grace and His glory see God's not trying to destroy you with the darkness but he's trying to develop you in the Darkness he's not trying to hurt you in the Darkness but he's trying to help you in the Darkness so I don't know who I'm preaching to today as every head's about every house closed [Music] but there's some of you that's in the darkness today and maybe you're in the darkness of your own your own decisions in your own will and your own power you find yourself frustrated wondering what to do next or maybe God put you in the Darkness as the writer said he leads me to the darkness either way you're in darkness today and you're frustrated you're questioning you're looking around nothing makes sense instead of one mountain to the next it's one Valley to the next instead of one miracle that an exits one mistake to the next and you're frustrated and you're hurting [Music] can I tell you that if you'll lay yourself down at his feet stop wondering in the Darkness when you wander in the darkness you get hurt you realize that when you try to go walking in darkness you're going to trip you're going to fall the best thing to do when you're in darkness is to sit still and wait for the light some of you I could just see you in my in my my mind you've been struggling in the darkness you've been fighting and you're causing yourself harm you're causing harm to others instead be still and know that I'm God so I wonder today would you step out of your seat eat would you make your way down to the front maybe find a place to pray you can stand you can kneel you can walk whatever you feel comfortable doing but would you just find a place to say God I want to be developed in the darkness God I want you to work on me God if there's some things in me that you don't approve of get rid of them in the Darkness got it through some things that I haven't developed in myself developed them in the darkness God make me who you want me to be make me in your image make me God develop me strengthen me anoint me lead me and direct me in the darkness today I have this confidence because I've seen the faithfulness of God the still inside the storm the promise of the shore and I trust the power of Your World [Music] enough to seek your kingdom for comfort [Music] please [Music] [Applause] [Music] my praise will cause I was just reminded of something when I was a kid if I had a nightmare [Music] or I thought there was a monster under my bed you know what I would do I'd go down the hall I'd get in the bed with Mom and Dad and if I could get in the middle of my mom and dad it didn't matter how dark it was it didn't matter how scary it was it didn't matter the how bad the dream I just had when I was in the middle of mom and dad it seemed like everything was going to be all right and I want somebody to hear me today you're not alone in the darkness you got your dad you have your heavenly father and you've got the mother the church you're not by yourself don't listen to the adversary that tries to tell you you're all alone in the darkness you're not alone in the darkness God is there and your family your church family is there so I wonder would you just if you're willing today would you find somebody and just if you're going through Darkness find somebody on your right hand find somebody on your left hand and begin to pray and say I'm not alone in this we're stronger together we're fighting this fight together we're being developed together we're not in this alone God's fighting for us my brother's fighting for me my sister's fighting for me for me behind me you'll always [Music] be for me behind me always beside me no Shadow nobody where you won't find me not a fraid of red oh I am afraid when I walk through the waters where [Music] [Applause] I will be down when I Cry I will not feel the flame declaring me baby [Music] always beside me no Shadows falling behind me always [Music] I am not afraid when I went all through the waters [Music] I will not feel the flame I'll Stand before [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] declare that it is [Applause] [Music] away so I am not afraid when you miss a fire I will not feel the pain I'll Stand before victory my God Will Make A Way so I am not afraid before me behind me always beside beside me no Shadows before me behind me always [Music] [Applause] the Holy Ghost is dead [Music] [Applause] I am right away [Applause] I'll Stand before the child declaring Victory my God Will Make A Way [Music] Holy Ghost is doing a work in this house yes keep our promises you make there isn't one that is [Music] [Music] declare the battle why declare that it is [Applause] [Applause] make it away before Hallelujah [Music] [Applause] nobody and you won't find me afraid before me behind me and always beside me the Shadows [Music] [Music] behind me besides victory victory right now in Jesus name victory [Music] tonight when I go through the river I will win my God Will Make A Way so I am not afraid when fire I will not feel the pain I stand before Victory would you love Jesus in this house would you give Jesus High Praise right now which is thinking that he is the god in the Darkness is our God in the darkness and that's a time that we're developed for the life
