Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

The Lord will perfect that which concerns me

  • His text is in the Book of Psalms, chapter 138, verse number 7 and verse number 8: though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me and stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and the Lord will perfect that which concerneth me.
  • The word 'perfect' carries the meaning of completion — the Lord will complete, he will bring to an end, that which concerns you.
  • Paul uses the same confidence writing to the Church of Philippi: being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
  • If it concerns you, it concerns him: you may feel left to fight the battle alone, but he is here — the same yesterday, today and forever — and he will fight your battles.

Scriptures: Psalm 138:7-8; Philippians 1:6

The promise is unto you

  • What happened on the day of Pentecost was concerning us and our salvation: the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call (Acts 2:39).
  • Down through the generations untold thousands have been filled with the baptism of the Holy Ghost as they have been obedient in repentance and water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ.

Scriptures: Acts 2:39

Graven on the palms of his hands

  • God spoke through Isaiah: can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yay, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
  • Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me (Isaiah 49:16) — every time he looks at his hands he sees us, and he knows what we are going through.
  • Are you concerned about your health, your family, your future, your soul? He is concerned about it too, and God is going to finish just what he started in you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Scriptures: Isaiah 49:15-16

Scripture index: Psalm 138:7-8; Philippians 1:6; Acts 2:39; Isaiah 49:15-16.

first Apostolic Church in Maryville Tennessee tonight sharing the word of the Lord with a a great group of people across this area of the country and we do not take it lightly the privilege that we have to share the word of the Lord with you on this Wednesday evening I know there has been a lot of uncertainty in our in our land the last several days and a few weeks but I want to bring a word tonight that I felt directed to bring to you that a hope will bring you some hope and some strength some encouragement and some healing in your own situations and I am looking tonight in the Book of Psalms chapter 138 sums chapter 138 verse number 7 and verse number 8 though I walk in the midst of trouble thou wilt revive me thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies and thy right hand shall save me the Lord will perfect that which concern if me the diversity of the Lord endureth forever forsake not the works of thine own hands draw your attention to the first Clause of verse number 8 where the psalmist said the Lord will perfect that which concerning me for a few moments tonight for your consideration a message with this title if it concerns me if it concerns me god bless you what a glorious and encouraging promise these two verses are verse seven and eight are beautiful passages of hope for the children of God the psalmist said though I walk in the midst of trouble you will revive me against the wrath of mine enemies you will stretch forth your hand the right hand shall save me then in verse eight David says the Lord will perfect that which concern me the word perfect here carries the meaning of completion it carries the meaning of their being and ending the Lord will complete that he will perfect that he will bring and in to that which concern ahthe me the Apostle Paul uses this same context when writing to the Church of Philippi in Chapter 1 and verse 6 he says being confident of this very thing that he which hath begun a good work in you shall perform it until the day of Jesus Christ the message tonight is quite simple in its title but I feel that it could be very profound in all of our lives when we consider the fact that if it concerns me or if it concerns you or if it concerns us it also concerns Jesus Christ you may feel like you may think at this moment in your life that he has left you to fight the battle alone there may be situations that you have been facing that you feel like there has been no one to help you no one to stand beside you but I've come tonight to let you know that if it concerns you it also concerns your Heavenly Father you may think you have been left to fight the battle alone but that is not true he will fight your battles he said stand still and see the salvation of the Lord you may think that Christ is never coming back to rescue you you may think that you've been left alone in your struggle you may feel like you've been left alone in your battle you may feel like you've been left alone in that situation but that is not true he is here Jesus Christ is here for he is the same yesterday today and forever he said in his word lo I am with you always even to the end of the world he is here to rescue you from your problem you may think all of your hope is gone you may think that no one is concerned but if it concerns you if you feel hopeless he is the hope of eternal life if you feel like you have no peace he is the peace that passeth all understanding if it concerns you it concerns him as well I'm thinking of the words of the course of a song that was written many years ago by a friend of mine the song said he knew me yet he loved me he used Gori makes the heavens shine I'm so unworthy of such mercy for when he was on the cross I was on his mind when he was on the cross friend you were on his mind when he was on the cross sir you were on his mind ma'am when he was on the cross you were on his mind what Jesus Christ did at Calvary was concerning me it was concerning my salvation it was concerning you and your salvation we were in the mind of Christ from the very beginning he was the lamb slain from the very found of the world what happened in Acts chapter 2 on that day of Pentecost 50 days after Passover when he was crucified what happened that day was concerning us and it concerned our salvation when the Holy Ghost was poured out on the day of Pentecost with a mighty rushing wind that filled all of the house where they were sitting and it was being poured out on them as tongues of fire was made evident in their midst it was being poured out not just for the 120 but it was being poured out for you and I as well for Acts chapter 2 verse 39 says for the promise is unto you and to your children and to all that are afar off even as many as the Lord our God shall call down through the generations of time untold thousands yay even millions have been filled with this baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking with other tongues as they have been obedient in repentance and water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ the promise of the Holy Ghost has come to them and it has come to we as well or if it concerns us it concerns the master he made a way for you and I to be sane he made a way for us to miss an eternal lake of fire he made a way for to be born of the water and the spirit filling us with His Holy Ghost the promise of the Holy Ghost was not just for the 120 in the upper room it was for you and I as well all of those things that concern me all of those things that concern you will be perfected or they will be completely finished nothing will be left undone so I ask you this evening what are you concerned about tonight are you concerned about your health are you concerned about this virus are you concerned about your family's safety are you concerned about your neighbors help if you are he's concerned about it as well are you concerned about your husband or your wife are you concerned for your children he's concerned too are you concerned about your future are you concerned about your job are you concerned about your retirement are you concerned about your soul if so he is concerned to rest assured tonight if it concerns you it then concerns God so much that he will complete the work that has been started in you you and I are never out of his listen to what God said about it his chosen people Israel he spoke to them through the silver-tongued prophet Isaiah in chapter 49 verse 15 and 16 the writer said can a woman forget her sucking child that she should not have compassion of the son of her womb yay they may forget yet will I not forget thee God said that even nature a woman with a with a nursing child he says can that woman forget that nursing child that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb he said yes she might forget him he said yet will I not forget thee verse 16 said behold I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands the walls are continually before me God said everytime I look at my hands I see you the the nails that held the hands of our Lord on the cross that gaping holes and scars some writer said the only thing that will be in heaven that will not be made by God are the scars in the hands of the master every time those nail prints are saying our names our faces our lives come up before him and he sees us so much so that he cannot forget us he said that walls are continually before me he said I see your surroundings I see those things that are protecting you or endeavoring to protect you I see where you are I know what you're going through if it concerns you then it concerns me as well in closing tonight in 1992 a songwriter whose name was Morris Chapman wrote the chorus of a song that went like this very simply God is going to finish just what he started even though the waters have got to be parted lift up your hands don't be brokenhearted for God is going to finish what he started in you if he has to part the waters for Israel you'll do it if he has to stop the violence of fire for the three Hebrew boys he will do it if he has to lock the Lions mouths he will do it for Daniel if he has to cause an earthquake to release to Pentecostal preachers in the book of Acts then he is he is willing and he is ready to do it whatever you have need of wherever you are whatever your situation God is going to finish in you just what he has started if you can believe it if you can believe it God is concerned about you who me little old insignificant me me that nobody knows me that nobody has ever said two words about me has always been hidden in the shadows me who've always ducked my head because I did not like to be seen who me God will see you and God knows who you are God knows where you are god knows what you're facing even this night he sees the pain in your heart he sees you struggling over the loss of a loved one he sees you hurting over the sickness of a child he sees you frustrated over the situation in a job he sees you in your financial crunch he sees you and he is concerned about you please believe it don't go out of here doubting don't go away doubting he is able to complete that which he has started God is concerned about you he is going to finish the work he is going to perfect it he's going to perfect it on your behalf put your trust your confidence in the Almighty God he will never leave you nor forsake you he'll go with you all of the way even to the end of the world may God bless you in Jesus name
