Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
Summary
- A daytime teaching session at a Louisiana District camp meeting. The recording is Murrell Ewing's segment of a joint session: Joan Ewing was to share after him, and the recording ends as he calls her up, so her part is not on this upload.
- He opens amazed at what the camp meeting is hearing — the preaching Jeff Arnold did last night and the teaching Brother Booker did yesterday and today — and says he is not proposing to preach: he and Joan want simply to share a few things God has helped them glean through the years, hints that might work in someone's life. After a prayer for the short time they have, he thanks Brother Tenny (as captioned) and the District board, and turns first to attitudes. He had discovered that the Beatitudes were Jesus' very first lesson to newly called disciples: blessed is not a rank reserved for heroes but a favour resting on attitudes ordinary people can have. Attitudes control the bigger part of our relationship to God, and our attitudes toward one another largely determine that relationship — we cannot get forgiveness from God if we do not grant it to our brother, and giving works the same way.
- His text is Jeremiah 1:11-12, which he reads entire: God's question "Jeremiah, what seest thou," the answer of the almond-tree rod, and God's response, "Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it." The first question God asks is what do you see, and our first response should be to ask ourselves, what will I say. Jeremiah spoke by faith something not yet in existence, and God put it in his portfolio and hastened to bring it to pass; what we see, feel, and say about our lives, churches, and families is the role we play as labourers together with God. Without a vision the people perish, and the scripture says to speak to the mountain — yet we are often hearers and not doers. God is not just doing this in Alexandria or Modesto; he wants a person in every hamlet and village he can use, and in this camp meeting he is stretching minds beyond themselves.
- Prayer is the same privilege carried further: not walking into an earthly courtroom but into the room where the decisions are made that govern the earth, to place our petition before the Judge of all ages — God has given us the awesome privilege of changing his mind and speaking things into existence that do not yet exist. Our words carry that weight everywhere: we can speak blessings into existence, as the old-timers did walking into a house — he has heard people talk about Brother Andrew (surname as captioned) doing just that — or, through recklessness and idle tongues, speak curses; we are going to reap what we sow. He counsels couples in his church never to let a negative thought about the marriage come out of the mouth, because what you say is what you are going to get: Job said the thing that he feared had come upon him. Wives will find their happiness in becoming part of what their God-called husband is called to do; husbands can speak their ladies into what they have not yet found them to be — kings are what makes queens — and the same holds for children and for saints: tell a child he is dumb and stupid and you will get exactly what you put into him, but encourage people to become what they are not yet and your ministry will reap what it put in them.
- He closes by refusing the opposite confession over his own church: we have problems like anybody else, but "I speak Victory, I speak Unity, I speak Revival, I speak restoration." We have the awesome privilege of changing our world, our family, our church, our kids, and our marriage into existence. He then introduces his darling companion — not just the love of his life but his partner in the thing God called him to do — and calls Joan to come and share some things with the congregation. The recording ends there.

God if you would I want you to lift your hands with us and just pray God let us do a good job in just a little bit of time time here and help our hearts and our minds to be

I discovered some time ago I'd heard the be attitudes I'd heard the way we say blessed are the pure in Hearts blessed are the blessed are that I discovered that these blessings were suggested or the potential blessings were suggested at a very important time as far as my assessment of the importance of the situation Jesus had just amest his disciples he had just called them together and knowing himself the road that lay ahead of them and the importance that that role was to play in his overall purpose all the things that he could have started with of all the lessons that he could have taught of all the things that he could have begun in his disciples knowing that they were to be the ones upon whose shoulders the very existence of the cause of God rest while he himself would go through the deep dark valley of death and then on when he was resurrected and ascended on to Pentecost and on beyond the thing of all the things that he could have sto started with teaching his disciples his first lesson was on a mountain he began with those disciples by saying fellas there's some things that I want to point out to I'm going to give you a hint if you will have this particular attitude this is something that God will favor in in your life he started out with beatitude and I discovered that the way we say it sometimes creates a situation where it seems to be so far removed if I were to ask you today how many of you feel blessed very few hands would be lifted but if I ask you how many of you are blessed every hand in the building would be lifted we can see ourselves blessed but we can't picture ourselves blessed blessed is reserved for those who were next to deity those who we Revere in the lineup of Heroes but he the way we say it of course coming from a Catholic influence I'm sure the way we say blessed are the pure in heart it almost puts it without the on our reach he wasn't talking about things that belong to Mary and Peter and Paul and he was talking about attitudes that you and I can have that will make us be blessed of God blessed just little hints and those attitudes I I of course I I'm I'm not here to talk about attitudes but of all the things that we can that we can have that will be to our advantage attitudes control the bigger part of our relationship to God in fact if you want it just a little bit closer Home our attitudes concerning one another is largely responsible for what our relationship to God is we can't get things from God even
forgiveness if we do not Grant it to our brother and you can run the gamut give and it shall be given just whatever we do for someone else especially our brothers is directly determining our relationship with
God so let me let me start start off Jeremiah chapter 1 chapter 1 verse 11 let me let me just read it here moreover the word of the Lord came unto me saying Jeremiah what seest thou and I said I see a rod of an almond tree then saith the Lord unto him thou Hast well seen for I will hasten my word to perform it the first question that God ask what do you see our first response should be to ask ourselves a question what will I say
the situation the setting a great work of course Jeremiah Was to accomplish a great role that he was to accomplish God in his wisdom in his plan is not just simply a dictator but he chooses people that he can work with work far and work through it matters to God what you and I think it matters to God what we in the process are seeing when when Jeremiah answered the question question he says I see an almond tree or the rod of an almond tree God's response suggesting that evidently Jeremiah was plugged in Jeremiah in his statement as answer to the question God said you have seen well now because of what you have said said you see this puts something in my portfolio now and God says I will hasten to perform it suggesting to me that what a what Jeremiah saw and spoke by faith was not actually in existence at the time time he spoke it but when he said it God says that's a good idea I will hasten to see to it that it comes to pass the role that you and I play in be being helpers or workers together or labors together with God carries the significance that we are ourselves do not comprehend what we think about things the attitude that we have about things
goes far beyond what we actually we've got this concept and I know I I know it's it it's it's righteous it's it's it's good that God is he's there God rules the Earth he sits upon the circle of the earth and and and and we see ourselves as just maybe sitting beside side on the way side that every once in a while we may have an idea may have and somewhere we may fit into the program of God but if we could just simply recognize the role that we play in the process the daily process of what happens in our lives what happens in our church what happens in our families God is constantly wanting to know what do you see what do you feel what is your desire what is the things that would make you happy what is your vision we know the scripture without a vision the people perish we know the scriptures that says speak to the mountain be thou removed and it shall be cast into the sea we have an understanding of all of that but yet when it comes to actuality in our lives that I have that kind of a significance in the mind of God brother Booker you're blowing my mind about the God being mindful of us he can't get us out of you heard him just now he couldn't get David out of his mind we do not comprehend the role that we play and the importance that God places upon what you and I feel and say about things and that creates a situation where the importance of what we say what we feel what we project with our words
we have and we heard it again last night brother Jeff Arnold the power of the spoken word faith is not any good just as a thought it's got to be spoken love is not love when it's held to itself it's got to be an expression we understand these things but yet when it comes to our own lives we sometimes we are hearers but we're not doers the premium right now children of God my fellow ministers and and and dear ladies of of of of the of the cloth we are not brought to this hour just simply to to to repeat stories or hear things that happen to others and and and just and and lay all of the significance to them and what happened there God is wanting to use you and I and it's not just happening in Alexandria it's not just happening in Modesto California God wants it to happen in your hamlet in your village in your community God is wanting a person in your place in your world that he can use and identify with that will become a part what we say what do you see Jeremiah I see the rod of an almond tree that's good I like that I'll tell you what I'll do I'll I I'll I'll hasten to see to it that that that's brought into existence Faith the spoken word the situation that we desire I challenge you and I hasten here I I I would love I'd love to have all the time of the world but we know that can't happen in in in camp meeting and I'm not lamenting I'm just saying these these these subjects are are are so powerful
God is God is doing such a such a beautiful thing in this camp meeting to stretch our minds Beyond ourselves how many of you would like for God to literally take our minds and stretch them Beyond ourselves When God says what do you see wanting to include us into the thought process into the decision process into speaking something into existence when God ask us that question what are we going to what are we going to say are we going to are we going to express that we're on a pity party are we going to express the discouragement of human reasoning are we going are are we going to speak something into existence by speaking Faith something that does not exist but yet by faith saying God this is what I I see this is what I see and God's saying hey I like that I'll tell you what I'm going to do I'm going to hurry up and make sure that that comes into being it's not actual it's not an actuality yet but I'm fixed to speak it into existence myself praise God that comes to the beauty of the significance of
prayer prayer what what what is prayer and God dealt with my heart the other day about this and I was talking to the church about it and and and right in the m middle of me trying to explain it was like it was like a World open up to me that I'd never seen if any of us had a critical situation where a family member or somebody was going to trial any mother or daddy would give anything in their power if they could just have five minutes with the judge that's going to be presiding in that case we'd give we'd give anything if we just had just or if we couldn't speak to the the judge if we could just speak to a lawyer that's going to be helping pre present the case and plead the case if I could just have a word with the lawyer that's going to help out in the situation prayer is the god-given privilege to every one of us to walk not into a courtroom in this world but to walk into the into the room where the decisions are made that govern the that govern the activities in this earth man and everything else God gives us the opportunity to walk into that room and place our feelings and petition before the judge of all ages and say I want to know how you feel about it I want to know what you think about it and God gives us the awesome privilege of changing his mind we act sometimes like everything is chiseled in stone but if that's the case there wouldn't be such a thing as
prayer we need Faith we're not people that believe in in in in predestined situations that we can't change we believe in the power of prayer we believe in speaking to the mountain we believe in saying the word we believe in speaking the word of faith We believe We believe We Believe and God has given us the awesome privilege to speak things into existence that does not yet exist somebody shout hallelujah with me walking into the into the room where the decisions are made that govern all the activities of the earth and man and time and allowing us to have the ear of the judge of all the Earth to alter his decision and his way of thinking God allows me the privilege to change his mind or change the outcome of a situation so in our speaking words we've got to come to the realization of the fact that words we speak whether in the pull pit whether in prayer or whether in conversation these words carry an awful lot of weight we can bless a person now let me let me let let me go back God talks about many many times the word of God talks about blessing this house bless this one bless that one God even talked about people that didn't hear what you had to say get on the outside of the streets and Shake the Dust
off there is there is something about our actions and our responses our thinking our words the old-timers many times would walk into a place and say I bless this house I've heard people talk about brother Andrew uran walking into their home and saying I bless this house when he walked away and I bless this house we don't do that an awful lot anymore but we have the power to bring a blessing to somebody's house we have the power to speak a blessing into existence for somebody that's in trouble we have the power to bring a blessing and speak a blessing upon our children we've got that power and if we have the power to speak a blessing through recklessness and idle tongues and misguided conversations we can speak curses we can speak things that do not exist in the form of curses on people we need my God if the Pentecostal people all over the country could just simply learn that what we speak is going to be what we have to deal with remember the scripture we're going to reap what we sow if there's ever been a day that we need to speak blessings if there's ever been a day that we need to speak hope if there's ever need a day that we needed to take our idle tongues or or Bridle our tongues to only speak something that's going to bless we don't need to have our minds all befuddled and mudded by the things that are going on that we can't do anything about except through prayer anyway we don't need to have our minds confused about all the things these are nothing but plaers of the devil to keep our minds off of the main objective the main objective is blessing God's people the main objective is bringing a Revival to our community the main objective is bringing a Revival and a restoration to our own home to our own children everything about it we need to be blessing God I bless this
house when we when we when we bring negative things into our relationship even with our wives we bring negative atmosphere into that home and you're going to have to deal with it in problems with your own companion we speak things into existence by the power of the negative world that I could go on for I deal with people I have couples in the church I tell our people if you have ever had a negative thought about your relationship with you and your companion don't you let it come out of your mouth if if if if divorce or not being a part of the team ever ever crosses your mind don't you let it come out of your mouth because what you say is what you're going to get job said the thing that I feared has come upon me you express fear it's going to become a reality in your life we need to talk blessing I bless my family I bless my marriage I bless my relationship and just one little hint to the wives here wives you I I know I know there there's a there's a concept going on of today that you be your own thing and you be your own person and you live your own life and you don't have the call and and and you be be independent you be this I'm telling you you'll never have the happiness in your marriage nor the happiness in your home until you become a part of what that God called husband of yours is called to do and I'm not saying you get up in the pull pit with him the way my wife is going to be here today you might not have that opportunity that may not be your role but in prayer in faith in desire Hallelujah in dedication in willingness in offering yourself to become a part of his cause and to become a part of his dream and to become a part
of what will make him successful you be a part of that will be the happiest existence you can have in your life and fellas if there's something negative that's happening or working in your family speak speak something positive about it we have the power through our words to make our ladies something that maybe we have not found them to be yet if you want to live with a with a queen treat them as the king you are Kings are what makes Queens we can speak them into becoming what we want them to be but we always we speak is negative it happens with our children you tell your your your child you're so dumb you're so stupid you're going to get exactly what you have put into that child you speak that to your Saints that's right you speak condescending and down to your Saints and you will get exactly what they have found that you expect them to be but if you encourage them the Lord you are you you're God's children you you you've got what it takes encourage them to become what they are not yet and you will be the recipient of the blessing of people in your congregation that have become what your ministry put in them they could be I feel the Holy Ghost in This House
here today somebody shout hallelujah with me the power of the spoken word what do you see Jeremiah what do you see I I don't see anything as far as human reasoning is concerned but Faith tells me there's something I'm supposed to say here I'm going to go ahead and speak it out wonderful you have spoken something that I think is a good idea and I'm going to hasten to bring it to pass how many of you want Revival in your church how many of you want Revival in your community how many of you want healings and miracles in your assembly how many of you want your children brought back to God or restored from a fall maybe everybody's not in that category but some of us have been oh brother I want you to hear me today there's a power in what our attitude about it all is and speaking what we want to become I will not have I will not have by faith and I'm not putting accolades on myself but I will not have a church that is is divided and and and busted up with division and and all of this and we have problems just like anybody else but we can speak it to where that becomes the order of the day and we succumb to it or we can stand up against that havalance and say I will not have it it is not so I speak Victory I speak Unity I speak Revival I speak restoration I I feel Faith in somebody's heart here today we have the awesome privilege of changing our world around
us we have the awesome privilege of changing our family of changing our church changing our kids changing our marriage into existence I Want My Darling Companion he's not just the love of my my my life she has given to me such a well such a partnership in the thing that God has called me to do and I want her to come and share some things with you
