Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Stones that preach

  • Twelve men, one out of every tribe, took twelve stones out of the midst of Jordan, from the place where the priests' feet stood firm, and laid them down at the lodging place for a sign.
  • When children in time to come ask their fathers, What mean ye by these stones, the fathers are to answer that the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; the stones stand for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.
  • Joshua set up a second twelve stones in the midst of Jordan itself, where the priests stood: a memorial in the waters, where God buried the old, and a memorial on the far side, where the new begins.

Scriptures: Joshua 4:1-9

Forgetfulness, the enemy of faith

  • The generation that came out of Egypt remembered its cucumbers, melons, leeks and garlic but forgot the whips, the plagues and the miracles; selective memory bred fear at the Red Sea, rebellion at the edge of Canaan, and a generation buried in wilderness graves of regret.
  • Moses charged the generation that would possess the land: only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart — but teach them to thy sons, and to thy sons' sons.
  • The warning runs against prosperous forgetfulness as much as fearful: harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, for an evil heart of unbelief departs from the living God — poverty has killed its thousands, but prosperity its tens of thousands.

Scriptures: Deuteronomy 4:9; Psalms 95:8-11; Hebrews 3:7-12

Walking sermons at home

  • Parents are walking sermons — epistles known and read of all men — and their children should see them worship, pray and live the truth at home every day of the week, not only in church on Sunday.
  • When children ask why we go to an apostolic church, why we believe in one God, why we baptize in Jesus' name and live as we live, fathers and mothers must answer from their own memorials — not send the child to ask someone else.
  • John the Baptist, standing in the Jordan where the stones stood, told the offspring of the stiff-necked that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham: God will fulfil His promises with or without a generation that refuses them.

Scriptures: 2 Corinthians (book-only, as spoken); Matthew 3:9

Christ the chief cornerstone

  • Jesus is the stone cut out without hands, the stone which the builders rejected and a stone of offence to the disobedient — and yet the chief cornerstone of a people built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets.
  • The preacher told his own memorial line: a great-grandmother taken up in the Sanders Revival in Bloomington, Indiana, in the days of G.T. Haywood, and a praying mother — and his resolve that his own daughters will hold this truth first-hand, not second-hand.
  • Every believer must raise memorials of his own and tell the story of where he came from — the stones preach only while someone answers the children's question.

Scriptures: Daniel (book-only, as spoken); 1 Peter (book-only, as spoken); Ephesians (book-only, as spoken)

you can start making your way back to your seats but just keep that same spirit of worship and anticipation and we're going to go to the book of joshua chapter number four and as you're turning there swiping there we give honor to our pastor our bishop all of our leadership this evening we love our leadership here at first apostolic church don't we we love our leadership and they are so so so wonderful the bible says that they are gifts given to us from god and i'm very grateful for our leadership and what preaching we heard this morning from pastor mccool amen what a great word if you missed it go back and watch it online there is a battle for our minds and we must have our minds transformed by the word of the lord joshua chapter number four and we'll kind of meander through this chapter uh tonight but we'll begin at verse number one joshua chapter number four beginning at verse number one and it came to pass when all the people were clean passed over jordan that the lord spake unto joshua saying take you twelve men out of the people out of every tribe amen and command ye them saying take ye hence out of the midst of the jordan out of the place where the priest's feet stood firm 12 stones someone say 12 stones and you shall carry them over with you and leave them in the lodging place where ye shall lodge this night joshua called the twelve men whom he had prepared of the children of israel out of every tribe of men and joshua said unto them pass over before the ark of the lord your god into the midst of jordan and take you up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder according unto the number of the tribes of the children of israel and here's the why here's the why that this may be a sign among you that when your children someone say children ask their fathers in time to come saying what mean ye by these stones then ye shall answer them that the waters of jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the lord when it passed over jordan the waters of jordan were cut off and these stones shall be for a memorial under the children of israel forever and the children of israel did as joshua commanded they took up twelve stones out of the mist of jordan as the lord spake unto joshua according to the number of the tribes of the children of israel and carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged and laid them down there verse 9 will stop there for now and joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of jordan so we have here two two memorials joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of the jordan in the place where the feet of the priests which bear the ark of the covenant stood and they are there unto this day this evening i would like to preach to you just for a few moments i'll try to be brief but i will try to minister the word of the lord with clarity my thought is a sermon in stones a sermon in stones let's pray lord we thank you for your word we thank you for your spirit we thank you for what you've done today in our morning service but we're believing for greater things tonight but i pray that your word would go forth and be clear open up the hearts of your people let there be great illumination from your word it's a light unto our path and i pray that you would speak the word to us and through us tonight in jesus name we pray and everybody said amen won't you clap your hands one more time unto the lord tonight [Applause] a sermon in stones you may not think much of stones stones and rocks seem unimportant and insignificant but stones however play an important part in scripture it's possible that cain murdered abel with a stone at babel they used stones to build a tower to reach heaven in an attempt to reach heaven i should say abraham isaac and jacob used stones to build altars unto the lord it was the lord who wrote the law upon two tablets of stone david took five smooth stones and used just one to kill the giant goliath the bible says solomon used great and costly stones to lay the foundation of his temple and these are just a few important references to stones in scripture in my opinion our text in joshua might be the most famous account of stones to understand its significance we need to lay a firm foundation to our context because if you just jump in right here at john or joshua 3 and joshua chapter 4 it might not make sense so we have to go back a book to the book of deuteronomy so the jordan river is the climax to the previous story which began in exodus moses and israel being led out of egypt moses the great leader led the children of israel out of egypt's bondage that generation of israelites were a fickle bunch to say it kindly though it only took a few weeks of divine miracles and sovereign intervention they are always prone to fearfulness complaining and the constant pool of going back to egypt it seemed they never wanted anything new or anything that would cost them their comfort they complained about their lack of variety and their food and complaint of their water sources they complained about their freedom in the desert they were scared when god spoke to them from the mountain they were afraid of egyptians chasing after them even after god had just displayed his power and authority with the plagues destroying egyptians their fear complaining and desire to always go back and do the same old samo was due to their memory loss or their selective memory when they wanted variety in their heavenly meal service they remember the cucumbers onions melons leeks and garlic of egypt they just happened to forget the whips chains and forced labor but they also forgot the miracles the provisions and the liberty that they had experienced the greatest enemy of faith is forgetfulness i'm going to say it again the greatest enemy of faith is forgetfulness because forgetfulness leads to unthankfulness someone said this if we have no memory we are adrift because memory is the mooring to which we are tied memory of the past interprets the present and charts a chorus for the future without memory we are lost their memory loss israel's memory loss of god's miraculous provision in the plagues in egypt led them to fear when presented with the red sea god splits the red sea so they can cross but they cross in fear they don't cross in faith they cross in fear they didn't cross the red sea in expectation of what was on the other side because it's fear we're always afraid we're always scared we're timid and that's due to their selective memory again this takes place when israel is confronted with possessing the promised land the lord had brought them out of egypt to give them canaan as their rightful possession instead of seizing the opportunity they refused instead using their fear as a crutch though god had done so many other miracles before it's as if they had completely forgotten it they couldn't believe that god would give them victory over the canaanite peoples so guess what they did they rebelled god's judgment on their lack of faith was for that generation of israelites to die in the wilderness it would take the next generation that would also be given another opportunity to take possession of the promised land and guess what that's exactly what happened those who had been brought out of egypt were buried in the wilderness they should have possessed the problems but all they left were a trail of tombs doubt brothers and sisters unbelief brothers and sisters forgetfulness brothers and sisters will only leave us tombstones the chair their children and their grandchildren had to bury them in graves of regret think about the great man moses what he had to do at the end of his life he spent the latter part of his life burying a generation that he had brought out of egypt think about that he knew they wouldn't believe when god told him to go back in the first place he said well who am i going to tell them sent me they won't believe me god says tell him i am saying that's not gonna be enough i need some type of sign because they won't believe and so at the end of his life can you imagine where they should be possessing the promised land they're buried in graves of doubt and regret he spent the last part of his life burying a generation who refused to seize god's promises an entire generation failed to possess all that god had for them because their memory failed them and they constantly allow present circumstances to rob them of their faith so aaron dies miriam dies a generation of israelites die and finally moses dies when that generation dies god's just getting started because god is not going to be stopped by a bunch of stiff-necked people he's not going to be stopped by egyptians he's not going to be stopped by canaanites and he's sure not going to be stopped by a bunch of people who fail to believe him and his word god will have a people god will fulfill the promises of god are in him yea and amen just because one generation failed to believe it didn't mean that there was not another generation ready to seize the opportunity that god had promised abraham he promised abraham he promised isaac he promised jacob he said i promised moses but that generation failed let me promise it to a man by the name of joshua because joshua was of that generation and he had a colleague by the name of caleb and those two men were relentless we are well well able to take possession of the promised land so joshua is the one who's anointed to take them in now i'm going to i'm going to move real quick okay we're going in the third gear for a second in hebrew the name joshua is yahushua the shortened form of yahushua is yeshua but the spelling is only found in the post-exilic historical books most notably the high priest with zerubbabel the the later spelling is likely based on the greek form of the name jesus or as we say in the english jesus are you getting it so his name joshua yahushua means yahweh saves or yahweh is salvation it should be noted that moses as a type of the law crossing the red sea with a fearing group of israelites is quite different than joshua a type of jesus christ in grace crossing the jordan river with a people ready by faith to take possession of the promises of god you see what the law couldn't do christ did for us oh my lord have mercy that's why moses couldn't take them in there because the law will never possess the promises it's going to take jesus to help us possess every oh you're not hearing my lord have mercy i love this book everything in here is there for a reason and so he anoints joshua a figure of christ he's pointing to christ in the new testament this new generation i'm going to preach to our young people for a few moments that all right every young person under the age of 30 below i want you to listen to pastor nate for just a little while okay the rest of you listen in and i want to get to you in a moment but please listen to me the next group had a responsibility to take possession of what god promised them there are some things that our parents and grandparents can't do for us you will have to do it with god it's remarkable that deuteronomy i love deuteronomy i know listen i know if you get to leviticus in your yearly you might be there right now in march you might be going hey can i skip over to the new testament you get to all the sacrifices and then you get to numbers which is a really bad name for that book it's not it shouldn't be called numbers it should be called the wanderings but you start to see all these numbers in these first few chapters you're like can we get through this can we just can you summarize this how many people are there and then you get over to deuteronomy you're like what is this all about i've already read this in in in exodus and in in leviticus the reason being you have deuteronomy deuteronomy is a second giving of the law moses as an old man is about to die and he had just buried that last person of that last generation that was doomed to die in the wilderness and he's looking at a youth group he's looking at a youth group of young vibrant people who have been born in the wilderness he's looking at a people with potential and he says you're about to possess the promised land let me tell you what you are to do he says the word remember no less than 14 times why because that generation he just buried forgot and let me tell you if you're going to take possession of god's promises you better remember where you came from and you better remember whose promises they are listen to me he says the word remember at least 14 times likewise the word forget is used at least 10 times in deuteronomy for example he says this in deuteronomy 4 9 i'm so sorry brother derek i didn't get this to you only take heed to thyself and keep thy soul diligently lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life but teach them to thy sons and to thy sons sons don't forget what you've seen but don't keep it to yourself teach it to somebody this place is not just for us we didn't build this place to sit on the premises we built this place to stand on the promises and to fill it with the next generation come on that's why we built this place we built it upon stone upon stone upon stone upon stone because we want to fill it with soul souls souls souls but don't forget what you've seen with thine eyes don't forget what you've heard with your ears unless it departs from your heart from the days of your life and so he gives them the law a second time he gives them the law deuteronomy is the giving of the law a second time that's why he's repeating it he's repeating it to them because they hadn't heard it and it's important that if you're going to go into seize god's promises that you are equipped with his word and so he reminds them of what god had done and he reminds them of the law that he had given and he reminds them about where they are going because remember the greatest enemy of faith is forgetfulness the second enemy of faith is prosperity i'm going to say that one again too the second enemy of faith is prosperity the next generation now i'm preaching to 30 and down okay the next generation of israelites would have their challenges but they would also experience what previous generations of israelites didn't the previous generation experienced sand in the desert but the next place was going to be a land flowing with milk and honey they would have fields that they didn't plant homes that they didn't build and so much more the stressful circumstances in the wilderness that disrupted the faith of a previous generation would be replaced with a challenge of balancing prosperity with purpose it's balancing not going without while staying hungry with passion for god's glory while poverty has killed its thousands prosperity has killed its tens of thousands just as struggle causes some to doubt and forget the past victories the silver spoon can cause many to forget how they got there in the first place the psalmist and the writer of hebrews said it this way harden not your hearts as in the provocation in the day of temptation in the wilderness when your fathers tempted me proved me and saw my works forty years wherefore i was grieved with that generation and said they always do air in their heart and they have not known my ways so i swear in my wrath they shall not enter into my rest take heed brethren lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living god in other words he says this that generation didn't believe me but don't allow the prosperity of the promised land to also rob you of your memory don't let it steal your faith don't let it rob you of your joy because let me just tell you poverty has killed its thousands but prosperity has killed us tens of thousands there are too many people who come in a church and they have forgotten what god has done for them oh no brother whitley i've never forgotten that why don't you get that look off your face and get your hands up in the air i don't know how you can come into this atmosphere and sit there on your hands and have an old ugly look on your face brother you have let prosperity rob you of your faith and your worship you better thank god for what he's done for you did he heal your child of cancer you better worship him did he see had he saved your family you better worship him don't you dare sit back there like a bump on a log and act like god ain't never done nothing for you you better [Applause] well it's just wednesday honey it's this is the day the lord has made i will rejoice if it's wednesday sunday sunday night he's done too much for me to sit there and act like prosperity will rob you of your joy and your worship well it's too cold in here it's too hot in here what it is yes it is it's called lukewarm and you've allowed your memory to be clouded with your prosperity and you've forgotten where he's brought you from he brought you as a drug outing he brought you out of darkness [Applause] you're still sitting there you're still sitting there i'm not coming to entertain you i kind of preach the gospel that we don't need to let prosperity don't let the good times roll let the worship go up and it's glory [Applause] what are you waiting on what are you waiting on i ain't got a drummer up here i don't have a keyboard up here what's he done for you he's worthy of worship what's he done for don't let your memory be clouded with present circumstances giving praise giving praise giving worship if we're going to possess the promises we can't forget what he's done for us i wish somebody would do it right now i wish somebody would do it right now he's done too much for me to sit there and act like i gotta be entertained brothers and sisters you better get your hands up you better get your voice up he's still worthy if he never does anything else he's already done enough for you to praise him [Applause] is there food on your table is there food on your table is there clothes on your back are you going home to a cool air conditioned home are you driving two and three vehicles do you have a job do you have insurance do you have money in your account are you going to go through mcdonald's you should give him praise for that you didn't do that he did that for you you weren't worthy of that [Applause] somebody better give me praise right now and thank him for don't you forget what he's done don't you forget what he's when you walk in here don't you get spiritual amnesia and start worrying about who's here who's not here it ain't about you it's about him don't look don't don't don't let amnesia spiritual amnesia rob you of your worship you don't let me i'm just going to go ahead and preach i'm a musician i love songs i love singing i love music but let me tell you something if you need a song to worship you're not worshiping you're at a concert well they didn't sing my song it doesn't matter if they sing your song or not or if the power went out he's still worthy of praise he's done so much for me i cannot tell it all jesus have mercy don't you forget what he's done for you don't you forget [Applause] what oh i'm going to preach a little while now when you let that critical cynical spirit start to rise up in your flesh you better you better send that thing to the back seat and say ha ha ha he cleansed me he healed me he saved me i still got my marriage i'm not divorced i'm not dead i'm not an addict he's whoa don't harden your hearts in the day of provocation and don't harden your hearts in the day of prosperity someone say amen god have mercy that's where we are a generation comes to a river moses is dead what are we going to do some of us are relying too much on a man and not relying upon god moses is dead fine we're going aaron's dead fine where's your sons at oh they're dead where's the next one you know what god's not done he just because if somebody dies or goes away he's still going to do it until they get to they get to the jordan god says all right joshua i'm going to anoint you to take this people into the promised lands all right you ready go and wait for three days so they go and wait for three days now i got microwave faith let's get the show on the road young people young men and ready to go i mean ray have has her her scarlet thread waving they're just like let's go and god says wait three days is there another special three days in the bible is there another three days special in the bible oh lord have mercy so they wait and john the lord says to joshua joshua now listen this isn't the red sea it's a little bit smaller now pastor talked about today i've been to the jordan jordan's ugly it's not pretty it's not cool and it's not very big but the lord says i'm going to abate the waters and you're going to walk over them into the promised land but wait i've got more instructions i want the priests to get the ark of the covenant that has the stone tablets inside of it where is written upon at the commands of the lord they're going to take up on their shoulders and they're going to walk in to the jordan and when they walk into the jordan i'm going to abate the waters in a place called adam which was 20 miles from there so he wasn't splitting it he was stopping it so he walks in and go hold on hold on when they get in there's to be space between them and the priests but i want one man out of every tribe of israel to take up a stone and walk with it to the other side and when they get to the other side they're going to stack it up and it's going to be a memorial for what i've done now ashley and i went to washington dc just a few weeks ago we went to the bible museum it was the most amazing thing i highly recommend anybody to go and see that but there's a part when you walk through this interactive old testament and it you walk through the red sea and you walk you see the burning bush i mean it's amazing but the thing that took my breath away when you come around the corner and there you can look it up on the internet there were 12 stones that reached the ceiling i mean you walk around all of a sudden there's these 12 giant listen god didn't need no little pebbles he wanted something to stand out and i just it took my breath away and this immediately that scripture comes to my mind what mean ye these stones god have mercy he said tell that generation this is going to be a memorial for what i've done but in the day listen to me now their children are going to ask their fathers what mean ye these stones and you're to tell them because if you don't tell them they won't know and they'll forget back there are tombstones of unbelief but here on this side are stones of faith on this side [Applause] here's i'm going to show you what and i want you to make it so big that they go what are these stones what are these for and you're going to tell them why these stones are there but joshua does one more thing he takes up some stones of himself and he goes back in where the priests were standing and he erects 12 stones where they were standing and then he walks back and the waters begin to flow again so we have a memorial in the waters and a memorial on the other side because god is going to bury the old so you can see the new and the new somebody's going to say why did we do this but i'm going to preach now i'm going to preach this for a second all right i'm almost done i know i'm going i went slower than i expected but let me just say this let me say this it's a memorial i've got goodness power and love it was a responsibility to raise those up for the next generation when there's a young man who's too young to remember walking through the jordan when he comes of age he sat gilgal he's gonna say dad why do we have these stones here it's an opportunity for a father to preach a sermon to his son this is what god did for us and this is what god did for you and this is what he's going to do for the next generation can i tell you something right now now i'm going to talk to all of our elders we need to be teaching our kids about the stones of what god's done for us mom and dad we have a responsibility we have a responsibility to teach them truth and build some you are a walking sermon paul said this ye are our epistle in our hearts known in the red of all men in other words you are a walking a walking sermon you are a memorial to what god has done don't forget it you are a walking sermon every day that's why every day listen you don't put on your pentecostal hat on sundays and your secular hat on monday you are a walking sermon every day mom and dad hear me hear me mom and dad you are a walking sermon in your home on monday tuesday through sunday they shouldn't just see you worship and pray on sundays they shouldn't just hear you talk about the things of the lord on sundays they need to know why we believe what we believe and let me tell you this generation will ask the questions and if you don't have the answers to their questions there will be a deceptive serpent that will ask them did god say or what are these stones in your life questions like this why do we go to church why do we go to an apostolic church why do we believe in only one god why do we baptize in the name of jesus christ why do we speak in tongues why do we live this way why do we believe in miracles why do we pray why do we worship this way why why why you better have an answer but let me talk to our young people just for one more moment project 180 and adultish you don't just need to rely on the stones of your grandparents and parents you need some memorials in your life you need some sermons in stone in your life you need to know why you believe what you believe ask the questions hash the questions mom and dad and don't answer this way well that's why witness the mama and papa have went to that church all those years at least go there because they do what happens when they die well we believe this because the pastor says it and don't do this when they ask the questions go ask nate go ask brother nate he likes the bible i like sports so can you go talk to him i could tell you all about ut football and basketball lady balls i can tell you all about that stuff but don't ask me about doctrine go ask that ball-headed preacher you don't have to like it but it's right because it's not the responsibility of the pastor to teach you doctrine it's the responsibility of the pastor to stir up in your remembrance the thing it starts in the home you are a walking sermon in the home teach your [Applause] i'm almost i'm going somewhere come on you need listen 180 and in the dalton listen to me you need to know the story of john of the johnson city revival yes you do you don't know about the johnson city of tent revival you need to know about it you need to know the story of 123 west columbia we had isaiah comer here last weekend to help us out i took him to eat one night and i said have you ever been to 123 west columbia he said i don't even know what that is i said let me tell you where you came from because you didn't come from this building let me tell you where you came from so i drove him over to 123 west columbia and we got out we i parked that car we got out of the suburban he goes oh my lord it's a miniature pleasant ridge road a-frame stained glass he goes oh my goodness i said have you ever heard the story of the concrete steps he said i don't know anything about concrete stuff i said well let me show you we did this a few years ago and some of my some of my now they're adult shades now mary you all remember us taking the mini buses with bishop and sister mccool is before eastern was born i got pictures of it we went over there you know why i want to what i wanted to do is show you where you came from because some of our kids only know basketball courts only they only know you know rooms like this that seat 12 to 1400 people then all they know is led walls then you know we came from that this didn't start yesterday [Applause] you need to know where we came from you need to know the story of the concrete steps you need to know the story of the flat top basement you need to know the story of the national guard and excavating this property where you're sitting upon you need to know the story of the bricks and the stone you need to know where you came from because your kids need it [name redacted] needs it [name redacted] needs it easton needs it they need it because if they don't know it they won't love it we got to tell it to him you've got to know it you've got to know what musicians come i'm almost done i promise now way way too long jesus listen 180 listen to me 180. you need some stones in your life you need some memorials and i'm not talking about building a shrine but i'm talking about having a testimony a testimony a testimony where you came from and having an experience for yourself that's not based upon somebody else's experience i had to get it for myself i am the offspring staying with me i'm just i'll just make you feel better now i came from i came from a praying mother she is the greatest hero in my life if you just knew what this this woman went through you'd understand why she stands there in a night like communion and cries and weeps if you just knew but you don't know where she came from she came from a a woman who was a praying woman faithful christ-like but you gotta know where she came from mabel chambers was a part of the sanders revival in bloomington indiana it swept through indianapolis when the holy ghost and the revelation of one god and jesus name baptism it swept through indianapolis gt haywood it swept through there and it went down south to indiana that's where my great-grandmother mabel chambers came from her husband would have to go and get her from prayer meetings drunk in the holy ghost am i telling it right pick her up and take her home because she was so drunk in the holy ghost that's where i came from but mammal chambers ain't here and my mama lindsey ain't here she's here lives in my backyard still telling me what to do and what not to do and i'm just saying yes ma'am but i had to get a revelation for myself [Music] that it's not just good enough for me to have a second hand experience i have to have see there's some stones there's some stones in my life but you know what there's some in this room right here you're first generation you don't have that but you know what you do have a responsibility to build some stones for the next generation that's right i got a little girl and she is my responsibility to train in this truth so when she comes up here to worship with me i'll take every opportunity when i get that other little one she comes running up here i'll hold them both my arms right you know why i want them to get used to this i don't want them to get used to back there i don't want them to get used to us coming in late and doing all i want them to feel what i feel i want them to see these these wonderful people up i want them to feel that because you know what i'm doing i'm building a memorial you have a responsibility to tell them of the goodness of god and i'm just i'm just going to tell you something else and i'm done okay i love this book they cross over to the other side and here's the stones when you jump over to the new testament and you get to matthew chapter number three you're introduced to a man by the name of john the baptist and john was the son of a priest and john comes preaching in the wilderness prepare ye the way of the lord and so he goes to the jordan river and gets in the water john son of a priest in the jordan river and he starts baptizing people and guess who comes along there's some pharisees and some sadducees they're the offspring of stiff-necked people who died in the wilderness why are you doing that that's not how we do things around here we're the offspring of moses don't you know and you know what john the baptist son of a levitical priest does in the jordan river he says of these stones matthew 3 and 9. of these stones god is able to raise up sons he's pointing to the stones that the 12 tribes had erected and he says these are a witness that god is able to fulfill his promises with or without you so i'm going to baptize these people in the jordan river i'm standing here and the very next event the bible says then came jesus from galilee and john the son of the priest standing in the jordan river baptizing people says here he comes yeshua yehoshua here he comes i'm in here first and here he comes and guess what he has after him sons of these stones and jesus comes into the river and john baptizes him and guess what takes place a new and living way is opened and christ fulfills all righteousness daniel said this of jesus he is the stone which is cut out made without hands [Music] peter said he's the stone that the builders rejected he's a stone of offense but this is what paul said too we are built upon the apostles and prophets jesus christ being the chief corner stone [Music] he is the stone he is the sermon and he is here to bring a new way a living way with the promises of god are in him yea and amen won't you lift up your hands right now this is a a monument this is a memorial of what god has done but it's also a monument for what he can do i wonder if there's some young people i'm going to start with young people
