Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

The Book That Remembers

  • Israel heard the voice of God out of the midst of the fire on the mount, though they saw no similitude, and he declared unto them his covenant, the ten commandments.
  • Moses commands that the words of the law be written very plainly upon the plastered stones, so the book itself would stand as a witness.
  • The word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.
  • At the end of every seven years the law was to be read before all Israel, so that children who had not known would hear and learn to fear the Lord.

Scriptures: Deuteronomy 4:12-13; Deuteronomy 27:8; Deuteronomy 30:14; Deuteronomy 31:11-12

Loving the Lord Your God

  • Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord, and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy might - the first and greatest commandment.
  • God set his love upon Israel not because they were more in number, but because the Lord loved them and kept the oath he swore to their fathers.
  • The people are called to circumcise the foreskin of their heart and be no more stiffnecked.
  • The preacher testifies that serving God is a daily choice, as in his own home, where he and Ashley keep choosing to serve the Lord.

Scriptures: Deuteronomy 6:4; Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Deuteronomy 7:7-8; Deuteronomy 10:16

The Word That Brings Us In

  • Deuteronomy promises a prophet like Moses, raised up from among their brethren, whose words the people must hear.
  • The sermon reaches the cross through Deuteronomy's word that cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.
  • He brought us out, that he might bring us in: the God who delivered his people out is the God who brings them into what he swore to give them.
  • In the altar call the preacher pleads with the congregation to come back to the book and let the God who brought them out bring them all the way in.

Scriptures: Deuteronomy 18:18; Deuteronomy 21:23; Deuteronomy 6:23

night what a tremendous move of the Holy Ghost let us not forget let us not forget what he has done for us let us not forget him and don't let me forget to make this announcement as you turn to Deuteronomy we have our contribution reports for all the saints who gave this past year those are available in the lobby so make sure you grab those before you leave today so you can turn that into your accountant and see all the credit but listen we don't just give to get credit from an accountant in the taxes we give because it's part of our covenant with Jesus and it's just great to look back upon to see what he's done for us and to see how we can give to him Deuteronomy going to read a few verses is from Deuteronomy this morning and uh just praying the Lord would Minister to somebody because I have something like Jeremiah happening to me his word is like fire shut up in my bones today and I want to share it with you Deuteronomy 4 then we're going to jump to 27 chapter 27 and then to J to chapter 30 so beginning at Deuteronomy chapter number four we'll read two verses 12 and 13 the Lord spake unto you out of the midst of the fire ye heard the voice someone say the voice voice of his words but saw no similitude or form Only You Heard a Voice someone say voice voice and he declared unto you his Covenant someone say Covenant which he commanded you to perform even Ten Commandments and he wrote them upon two tables of stone chapter 27: 8 jumping into a middle of a of a paragraph I just want to get this one scripture and thou shalt write someone say write so we went from voice to write upon the stones all the words someone say words of this law very plainly Chapter 30 verse4 but the word someone say the word went from voice to writing on stones to now it is very your word today in jesus' name we pray and everyone said amen w't you clap your hands one more time to Jesus and you can be seated the book of remembrance the Bible as we have it 66 books in one book God didn't give it to us like a textbook the the Bible isn't like ma like a math text book thank the Lord or like a science book and while the Bible uh includes precepts and principles it's not made up like a textbook with information about God that you can go find well lesson one and lesson 13 and here's uh the definitions in the back no uh yes the Bible does have pre precepts and principles in it but the Bible is not about precepts and principles it's about a person Jesus Christ uh both the Old and the New Testaments are all about Jesus you say well yeah of course the New Testament is but where is he in the Old Testament let me give you a story here Jesus after his resurrection just very uh freshly raised from the dead there are two disciples on their way to emus very dejected and they are very sad and downtrodden and a stranger unbeknownst to them it is the resurrected Christ walks up with them and uh hears their their they murmuring and they're complaining and he says what what are you so upset about and they said have you are you a stranger in Israel that you don't know the news that uh Jesus of Nazareth who we believe to be the Messiah has been uh crucified and there are some who say that uh they've seen an empty tomb but we don't know whether he's alive and this stranger it's Jesus they can't recognize him and he comes up to them and he says oh those you who are foolish of heart uh don't you know that the Christ was to suffer these things and he says this and beginning at Moses and the prophets he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself the law and the prophets was just another way to say the entire Hebrew Bible from Moses mes all the way through all of the prophets pointed and declared and revealed Jesus Christ that's what they needed they needed a revelation from the word of God the Bible is not given to us simply for information about God though it does give us that the Bible is a book of Revelation about Jesus Christ God in Christ yes we get information from it yes we can interpret it but information and interpretation and Revelation leads to transformation math never inspired you and transformed you it may have led you to a career but it didn't change your life oh no the Bible is the only book given to us from God himself and his book is given to us to change us and transform us that's why you need preaching that's why you need bible teach teaching that's why we've got Sunday School classrooms it's not simply to learn uh little lessons about the Bible oh no the Bible is given to us to point us to the transforming power of Jesus Christ the greatest education that you could ever receive is a Bible education you'll never Master the Bible but the Bible can Master you someone say amen and this is the time of the year where most people are trying to read through their Bible from Genesis to Revelation don't raise your hand if you're trying to do that I hope everybody's trying to do that and you probably just got through Genesis you're going to start Exodus you're like I could do this good stories here okay we're going somewhere interesting characters some certainly some interesting family Dynamics Happening Here I can relate to that so you get through Genesis and exodus and then you run smack dab into 27 heads scratching chapters in Leviticus sacrifices and blood and festivals and offerings and priesthoods and all kinds of cleansings and you're like oh father God in heaven where is Genesis and if you can make it through those 27 chapters in Leviticus and you can they are fascinating you run into a book that is poorly named numbers and if you're like me and you had to have a tutor from seventh grade through 12th grade and you average a c minus you're thinking numbers I don't think so but it's not a book about numbers there's no numbers in it it gives a census of sorts but the Bible the Book of Numbers is not about numbers it's about the wandering in the wilderness it has great history and then you get to this this book called Deuteronomy and you're thinking what in the world is Deuteronomy and you start reading through it you're like I read that in Exodus and I read that in Leviticus what is happening here and why is it named Deuteronomy what does Deuteronomy even mean well again it's a poorly named book Now understand this that names given to the Old Testament books didn't happen until many centuries later and for the Hebrews they didn't have nice books they had Scrolls and so when they would have the Scrolls they named the Scrolls after the first few words of the first sentence or The First beginning of each scroll and Deuteronomy even though we call it Deuteronomy it's made up of two Greek words deuteros andos meaning Second Law or second word it's really not that the the the Hebrew name of it comes back from the first sentence that means these be the words or words or others have called it the book of remembrance and the whole reason for this book called Deuteronomy is a second giving of the law it is here in the plains of Moab that Moses is just a few days from dying Aaron his brother is dead his sister is dead an entire generation of Israelites that escaped Egypt are dead except two Joshua and Caleb here in the plains of Moab as they are at the they are at the the entrance of Canaan and all they've got to do is cross the Jordan River Moses steps up and he preaches to them Deuteronomy is some say three or six in sets of three sermons that he gives to this young congregation here is a congregation that was raised born and raised in the wilderness they were not in Egypt they didn't see the plagues they didn't cross the Red Sea they didn't see all of the wonders of Mount Si I they weren't there oh no their moms and grandmas and grandpas and fathers were there but here they are behind them buried in the desert because they failed to believe God and his promises so Moses a 120 years old he's an old man about to be buried in a place unknown only to God he's going to address a young people a young generation on the precipice of of of of claiming the promises of God he's not calling down signs and wonders he's not he's not he's not reaching up to the top of a mountain and bringing down fire and clouds and thunderings oh no what he's going to do here is preach He's Not Gon to he's not going to operate as a as a priest he's not going to operate as a miracle worker he's going to be a Shepherd one last time and if you remember that's where the Lord found him he was a shepherd watching after after Jethro's flock where God called him and revealed himself unto him and he reluctantly accepted the call of God to go and free Israel and what does he say Lord I can't do it I'm a man of slow speech I'm not eloquent and here here in the last days of his life there's no errand to interpret for him here after 80 years of leading all of a sudden the stutters gone and the stammerings gone on all of a sudden there's great eloquence here why because the Wilderness will do something to some leaders you can't fake depth and you can't fake experience and here's a man who does not stammer here's a man who does not stutter and here is a man who stands before a generation to give them one last message what are they going to do how are they going to act how are they going to behave you have to understand that this generation grew up in the wilderness they don't know all that Moses had seen they don't know all that their fathers and grandfathers had experienced and they're about to take they are about to take possession of the promised land in Canaan and Moses knows there are three dangers in Canaan for this Young Generation I want this church to hear me tonight but I this morning but I also want to address our Young Generation I want to address those younger than I and those who are coming along that that you stand here on the precipice of God's promises here in the last days as we are about to take possession of a promised in time I want you to understand something for us tonight and today I want you to understand that Moses seen three dangers for that Young Generation entering into Canaan and those three dangers are this comfort conf formity and complacency if you're going to possess the promises of God in Canaan I have to warn you of the dangers that this is not going to be the easy way but I want you to understand that there is something that will keep you and help you as you go into this hostile place number one Comfort considering that this generation had only known the hardships of of the Wilderness the plush environment of Canaan would be a constant lure to forget what it was like to struggle in the wilderness success and plenty can become stumbling blocks for Spiritual hunger living in the wilderness waiting upon God to provide Mana from heaven and water from rocks that can increase your faith but once they crossed over the Jordan the Mana was going to stop no longer was it the dry Dusty desert in the wilderness oh no it's a land flowing with milk and honey they're going to take possession of homes that they didn't build and they're going to take possession of vines that they didn't plant and they're going to partake of fruit that they didn't Harvest I want you to know that one of the dangers for this generation is Comfort there is some in this room you don't remember the old building there are some in this room who don't remember 123 West Columbia there are some in this room who don't remember the Tent Revival and that's fine but don't forget where we came from don't forget come on I like the lights I like the screens I love all of this but don't forget where we came from we're not here because of lights and screens and cameras we're here because somebody got a hold of God because of of a Call of God and there were some prayer meetings and there were some there were some Bible studies and there were times of giving and there were times of sacrifice don't forget Comfort can rob your memory it can rob your spiritual hunger now you got some money in your bank and you got two cars in the garage and you got a home here and a and a and a and a vacation home there and all of a sudden it's okay to miss prayer meeting it's okay to not serve others don't forget and don't forget that Comfort I'm for Comfort I'm not saying we should just go and live in tents and living booths I'm telling you you have to keep it all in priority that had it not been for Jesus I wouldn't be here blessed as I am so don't forget his benefits and don't forget what he's done for for you and had it not been for [Applause] Jesus come on somebody somebody needs to worship him today like you remember where he brought you from some of us need to worship him today like we remember that I used to be a drug addict and an alcoholic and I was broke and my family was falling apart but Jesus showed up and brought me out there's a little phrase in Deuteronomy he says he brought us out that he might bring us in there's a reason why he brought you out he brought you out of the myy clay and set your feet on a rock to stay to let his purpose and His glory be revealed don't forget why he brought you out he brought you out to bring you in but just because you're in don't forget where he brought you from don't forget Comfort is a danger second danger is Conformity Conformity is always a danger Conformity to Canaan would be a grave danger for that generation listen to me for that Young Generation I thought all they had known was the Wilderness it's easy to be separate and distinct in the wilderness I'm talking to a young generation let me talk to some Apostolic Christian School students and alumni it's easy to be separate and distinct here at 5020 Pleasant Ridge Road Monday through Friday and Sunday morning and Sunday night nobody questions how you dress on Monday morning here at ACS but as soon as you graduate as soon as you get in the workplace in a college campus all of a sudden it's not so easy to be different in Canaan separation means standing out when you would rather blend in I'm I'm preaching today strange dietary laws are easy to follow when all you know is mana and you've never smelled pig roasting over an open fire you never smelled bacon before why would I be L to it all you've know is man what is it then you get over there and they're roasting pigs over an open fire it's easy to say you're Pentecostal in the comfort and the bubble of a Christian school but will you be holy and distinct when you get into a college classroom and the professor all of a sudden doesn't believe like sister Sandy and sister filippia come on somebody help me preach this morning it's okay to be conformed and I can wear pants when I when I play basketball hear ACS but can you be separate and distinct come on somebody and not only that you're going to walk into Canaan where they worship all sorts of gods and their worship and their behavior and their lifestyle is the complete opposite why did God drive home the sacrifices why did God drive home the Tabernacle and the priesthood and the offerings and the festivals why did he drive that through them in Exodus and Leviticus and numbers why because he knew what they would be tempted to do see all of their high places and their cult prostitutes Baal gods of the Sun and gods of of the sexual deviance happening everywhere and you walk in and go do we really have to do all of this it looks like they're worshiping too but who are they worshiping and that's why the Lord told them in Deuteronomy 6 he says here oh Israel the Lord our God is one Lord he didn't tell them that to give them a nice little Doctrine he told them that because where you're going they're not going to have just one they're not just going to have two they're not just going to have three there's going to be millions of gods that they worship there but you remember where you came from that I the Lord thy God who set you free out of Egypt and I want your devotion and I want you oh I wish somebody was hearing me right now the Oneness of God is not just some little Doctrine it's a lifestyle that we've got to be committed to him come on come on hero Israel the Lord our God is one it shouldn't just be confined to Wednesday night bible study it is a lifestyle it should be given to us in our heart and that's why he said this teach it teach it to your children why because they're going to see the Gods in Canaan and they need to know that Yahweh is one and they're children teach it teach it teach it how do you teach it you live it every day that I'm giving my whole life to him because he's the one true God and he cannot be added to you can't be sin christic and and try to add him to all the other gods that's not what he says you can't add him to other worship no no no he said I am the Lord thy God they didn't bring you out I did I want your Devotion to me and and Israel was to be he says this I think three times in Deuteronomy that they were to be his treasured possession they were a kingdom of priests a holy generation therefore they were not just to live that way for themselves but they were to be that way live that way to be a light in the world Holiness is not just about without us being isolated and insulated we are to be holy and distinct and separate so we can show the world what Jesus Christ has done for us and if he is Holy we are called to be holy it's our mission it's our mission don't don't let Comfort get you and don't let Conformity get you the next one the third danger is this complacency complacency leads to a lack of vigilance or mindfulness in the book of Deuteronomy the verb remember appears 15 times while the word forget is used 14 times it's easy to forget it's easy to forget when you get older say well I'm old I forgot but I also remember being young and you forget I remember Mom telling me this you'd forget your head if it wasn't attached it's true I can forget this is what you do when you are 44 years old before you leave the house you go got keys got my wallet got my got all you walk out the door got to do it over and over again why because this thing tends to forget Ashley tells me go to the store pick up this this what I do I write it down in my notes then I tell her send me a picture I will forget from here to there I can walk into one room from another room and go what am I doing in this room I did it today like what am I doing in this closet oh and then I go do the thing and I forgot to do the other thing it's easy to forget you know what causes forgetfulness time Comfort will rob you of your memory Conformity will and complacency it wasn't just to that generation that he was speaking to he said teach it to your children because your children are going to ask why do we do this and it's your responsibility to tell them so they don't forget because we are just one generation from Forgetting truth now truth never goes stale and and Truth never gets old or Antiquated but truth can be forgotten if we can talk listen to me now I'm not trying to be mean rude or crude but listen if you can recall the 98 football team but but you can't tell me what pastor preached last Sunday here he goes here he goes forget we want to remember what's important to us and here's Moses 120 years old and he's telling a a a generation a generation that's probably a third of his age don't forget once you cross over that Jordan once you cross through those Waters don't forget don't forget what Moses don't forget what what do you want us not to forget and this is what he tells them Moses does not give them a new law he gives them the original Law they don't need new doctrines a new doctrine is not going to help a new generation a removal of old doctrines isn't going to be of any help no that generation what's going to keep you when you cross over into a high style land called Canaan what's going to keep you from comfort and what's going to keep you from Conformity and what's going to keep you from complacency is the word of God so let me climb up this mountain as an old man and let me get behind this whole pull pit and let me get the tablets down and let me tell this generation thus sath the Lord you know what's going to keep us in 2025 it's going to be the word of God you know what's going to keep our children it's going to be the word of God you know it's going to keep the Next Generation it's going to be that I wish somebody would fall back in love with the word we need doctrine we need teaching we need we need the word we don't need new doctrines those are just new heresies but what we need is the original The Inspired inherent word of God and this is what he tells them I love this I hope I'm not born you is okay he saids why won't you remember a few things yeah let me it's I know I'm old and I'm about to die and my peers are gone but let me tell you the most important thing I can tell you today the most important thing I can tell you today is not to seek after signs and I I have I've done plenty of signs and wonders H let me tell you I got one last message here's one last message for this new generation the word of God came to us not not in a form but in a voice God have mercy I feel him he said he didn't show up in a form because you had fall in love with a form but he showed up in a voice he said he spoke to us and he gave us his commands oh God he said he thundered down from Mount siani there at Horeb he said and he gave to us his words can I tell you there is creative power in the spoken word when God created the heavens and the Earth he spoke it all into existence why because his voice Thunders with creative power all of creation the Sun and the Moon and the universes and the Earth pulsates with the very word of God he gave us his word through his voice he didn't give us a form he said you'll fall in love with a form you'll fall in love with a similitude but that's not what he did he said oh no I he he spoke to us with his voice and he says this we read it a few moments ago he said when you come into the land I feel the Holy Ghost he said when you come into the land we're going to go to a place called sheam and there is a place called Mount ebal and there is Mount Jerm and there at Mount ebal I want you to take some stones and I want you to plaster them with plaster and I want you to set them up there with that plaster and I want you to write down every word of God there at Mount ebal because there I'm going to be a witness for you I got to look in in my in my my my my my my my uh uh uh my my geography book my my Bible geography book I thought where in the world was sheum do you know where sheum was right in the middle of Canaan right in the center of the promised land was where the word was to be meaning that the word of God should be Central to our lives yes sir Central to everything that we do the word of God should be the basis and the foundation for he said he spoke to us from a voice but when you get to Canaan when you get to the promised land I want you to get some stones and I want you to write down every word of this law why because I want you to see it and every seven years I want you to declare it to that generation why because I don't want them to forget anywhere you were in the promised land you could get to shech and hear the word of God he wasn't done you keep reading you keep reading we read in chapter number 30 because I want you to understand this let me go there chapter number 30 let's go to exod or Deuteronomy chapter number 30 I want to read I gave it to uh to our to our production team doing a great job today following along as I'm speeding along trying to get all this done in uh you know 75 minutes or so I'm teasing you now listen I want you to go with me to Deuteronomy chapter number 30 look at verse number 11 that right I got that right there brother Dar yeah when all israels come to appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose Thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing gather all the people together the women and the children the men and thy stranger that is within thy Gates they may hear and that they may learn and fear the lord your God and observe to do all the words of this Lord law and that their children which have not known anything may hear and learn to fear the lord your God as long as you live in the land whether you go over Jordan to possess it now this is what he says there to them uh keep reading he gives them the law but he says this to them I think this is so important he says that the word of God you don't have to say where is it you don't have to say well we got to go as send into heaven to get it not what he says oh we have to go and cross over the lands and cross over the waters to get it oh no here in here in this this this part of the scripture he says this that the word of God is in your mouth and in your heart he went from a voice at Mount Si to stones at sheam but he says I don't want to stop there what's going to keep you in Canaan is getting the word in your heart because if you can get it in your heart you'll get it in your mouth let me ask you this what are you preaching to yourself every day out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks some of us would do good to do combat against the negativity that we speak over our lives every day if we would just get the word in our heart you know some of us would stop gossiping some of us would do good to battle against the bitterness that we speak about others and our and our own family and ourselves if we would learn to get the word of God in our hearts and learn to preach to ourselves I am the Lord's I am his son and I am his daughter I am blessed and highly favored I'm the head and not the tail I believe the word of God is true every promise Finds Its yay and it's Amen in him if you would learn to get the word in your heart you would do some good to start blessing yourself got to get it in your heart got to get it in your heart that's what he wants to do he says in I think it's in chapter number 10 he says to circumcise the foreskin of your heart what does that mean what does that mean what does that mean he doesn't want to be a voice in a mountain and he doesn't want to be a stone at checkum but he wants to be in us it's not enough just to Simply have preaching on Sundays and Wednesdays you need to get the word in your heart it's not enough enough just simp simply make a minum to our favorite sermons and our favorite lessons and our favorite doctrines we must get the word of God in our heart he doesn't want to be some distant God he doesn't want to be just something that you add into your life oh no he wants to be in us musicians start getting ready almost done now listen I already told you that Moses was acting like a pastor a preacher a shepherd and any preacher worth their salt pleads with his audience to make a decision Moses uses the word today 48 times in Deuteronomy today make a decision today why today because it's going to be hard once you cross over the Jordan River do it today why because we're not promised tomorrow today is the day of salvation don't wait until tomorrow don't be like those who say I'll do it on my deathbed you're not promised a deathbed scene you could die in a car crash on your way home today do it today you might have a heart attack in the morning you're not promised a deathbed then I'll give my life oh no why would you wait to give him the last seconds when you can give him your whole life today why would you wait why would you wait another year when he gave his whole life for you at Calvary do it today do not delay do not wait why because the next Generation must see you make a decision today today Deuteronomy functions like a covenant document Moses outlines the conditions of the Covenant between God and Israel and the basis for the Covenant is love and commitment I'll just stop right there love and commitment brother Nate the Old Testament is full of law there's no love there you know the first mention of God's love in the Old Testament you know where it's found Deuteronomy not in Genesis not in Exodus not in Numbers Deuteronomy he said I didn't choose you and your fathers because you are great in number he didn't choose you because you were some mighty people he said the the Lord chose you because he has set his love upon you the word let me tell you something the law and love go together no it doesn't brother Nate there's not that's not yes it is because Jesus said this if you love me you'll keep my commandments so love and law love and obedience are not enemies some of us want to claim go God's love and say I'm just claiming God's love and I don't have to obey that's not in your Bible because if you love you'll obey just love just love just love he accepts me as I am kind of but he won't leave you where you are why because he loves you and when you enter into a covenant when I married I've said this a million times you're going to hear me say it a million times more when I married Ashley I didn't say I guess I'll serve you I guess I won't commit adultery I guess I'll treat you okay and care for you that's not what I said I said baby whatever you want whatever I got to do to make you happy I will do it you hate putting the dishes away from the dishwasher I will do it first thing in the morning you know it might be good for us it's not marriage or treat yet if we would instead of keeping score of who does what that we try to out serve each other why because I love her and what I want to do is show her how much I love her not just on the day that we got married and entered into the Covenant but I want to show her how much I love her every day by trying to serve her so therefore the law of the Covenant is met with the love of the Covenant and when you put them together you've got blessing from the Covenant that went over like a lead balloon we don't need all that love all that law stuff we just need love what the Bible says he does not just want our he doesn't just want us showing up he wants our commitment today he says today I set before you life and death therefore choose life comes out of a life given to obedience in commitment but death comes from Disobedience stand to your feet I you're I hope that you see Deuteronomy in a new light today but let me just get the light out just a little bit more here show you something I told you the whole Bibles about Jesus we have the love of God first mentioned in Deuteronomy but then we have a prophecy in Deuteronomy Moses says God will raise up a prophet like me he'll put my words in his mouth and he shall speak unto them all that I command him do you know what Jesus's favorite Old Testament book was Deuteronomy Jesus quoted Deuteronomy more than he quoted Any Other Old Testament book one of the scribes came up to Jesus said Jesus what is the greatest command Jesus quotes Deuteronomy 64 through five the greatest command here o Israel the Lord our God is one and you shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart all thy soul and all thy might just a little bit more Y is y'all okay y'all just give me a little something Jesus was a better Prophet than Moses but he's also the true Israel he's the Israel of God standing on the banks of the Jordan the new generation of Israel prepared to enter the promised land fresh from 40 Years of wilderness failure Jesus stepped into those same Waters of the Jordan and was baptized by John and a voice Came From Heaven this is my beloved Son in whom I'm well pleased and the spirit descended it was not a dove but the spirit descended like a dove and anointed him and what happened God have mercy they crossed over the Jordan River into milk and honey Jesus crossed over the river Jordan where he was just baptized and declared to be the Son of God and the Bible says that the spirit drove him into the Wilderness why because for 40 days he's going to be tempted like they had been tempted and where they failed he is going to succeed and here comes the devil in the wilderness Will you fail like Adam fell in the garden and Will you fail like Israel did in the wilderness if thou be the Son of God take these Stones what [Music] stones and turn them into bread do you know what Jesus quoted every time the devil tempted him Deuteronomy every time why because he was the new Israel come to do what they could not [Music] do he quotes the book of remembrance and he does what they could not do so we could become what we [Music] weren't Jim Elliot said this the Bible is Christ in print Jesus fully obeyed the entirety of the law and he enacted a new and better Covenant one that we can enter into today there's another scripture in Deuteronomy cursed is any man who hangs from a tree Jesus Took the curse of the law my God as he hanged upon that tree at Calvary he took Every curse from Mount eel he took Every curse from the law the curse that we had and he fulfilled itah but that's not all he took the curse of the law so we could enter into a covenant of love with him and just I feel the Holy Ghost as the Lord told them to circumcise the foreskin of their heart Paul would say that we have been circumcised in heart through faith and repentance we can enter into this Covenant because they failed to mix it with faith they failed and were buried in the wilderness we can take our faith in Jesus Christ and we can take his righteousness it is can be counted to us as righteousness because he took our sin and we are taking his righteousness through faith and repentance but that's not all and just as they crossed over the Jordan River and just as Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River Paul would say we have been they were baptized into Moses and we are baptized into Christ when we enter into baptism of waters with him we are buried with Christ and baptism and we cross over from old life into new life we cross over from cursing into blessing and just as the spirit ascended from Heaven upon Christ and just as The Cloud of fire and the CL of a pillar of a cloud came by Night and Day for Israel the Holy Ghost comes down upon us and it filled the Tabernacle oh but he's come to do more than fill a tabernacle he has come to fill us with the Holy Ghost he doesn't want to be a voice in a mountain he doesn't want to be stones in a Wilderness he wants to dwell in our hearts would you lift up your hands right now there is new life for you today there is new life for you today I'm going to make two pleas today I want to make two pleas the first plea is this enter into this Covenant with Jesus Christ today if you have not put your faith in him and if you have not repented of your sins you can do so today he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness if you have not been baptized in the only saving name the name name of Jesus Christ the only Bible way they were baptized was in the name of Jesus Christ we have somebody who will baptize you today to be buried with him in baptism and if you have not received the baptism of the Holy Ghost the Holy Ghost is a gift and he wants to give it to you today and you can have that Covenant with you with him today if you'll come my second plea is this in this new year if you have been in Covenant with [Music] him don't forget his word don't forget his word I'm playing with you today make the word of God Central to your life if you just try it just try it three two three chapters a day and you can read the whole thing in a year I'm telling you if you'll just give your life to this book he will reveal himself unto you and there are blessings Untold for you if you'll just put this word in your heart and you'll speak blessings over your life would you come today if you want to enter into Covenant with him would you come if you want to make a new commitment to his word would you come today I wonder if somebody will come and enter into the Covenant if somebody will come to this book of remembrance and say Lord that's what I want for me that's what I want for our family that's what I need Lord would you lift up your voice would you lift up your heart right now and enter into the New Covenant [Music] today the CR me car now I been made free by the mercy of God was the great and for me where my sin now I stand redeemed by the mercy of
