Leviticus as you're turning there we want to say uh welcome to so many guests that are here with us this morning some who are here from out of town and uh some that are firsttime visitors but we're also I want to say happy birthday to my boy Peter dadsy can we give Peter a great big hint happy birthday brother Peter he is my encourager every Sunday morning when he comes through the offering line always encouraging we hope he has a great we're so glad to have sister Natalie Johnson here with us this is family of ours can we welcome sister Natalie here with us we appreciate her and her Ministry glad that she's here we're so glad uh to have with us home their second home uh away from Watkinsville Georgia we're glad to have Chase and Christina Baker back with us can we welcome the baker family back with us today we love and appreciate them glad that they're home and we are so glad to have we are so blessed that uh God has just allowed so many to move to our area move moved to our church and God has blessed us with so many great families over the last several years and one of which is brother and sister Barber and brother Barbara travel travels as a musician and singer and uh Sister Barbara is here her mother and sister are here today can we welcome them here today we are so glad that they are here with us this morning and we kicked off last Sunday morning after service we kicked off our first steps class and that will continue again today and so if you're a part of that maybe you missed last week we still encourage you to come be a part of that maybe you've uh like to learn more about fac get involved and volunteer uh or you just want to know more about Jesus and so uh you can do that we meet in the men's prayer room we got flag set out there brother uh majors and his team have doing a great job leading our first steps class Leviticus chapter number 16 and I'm going to skip a few verses just for the sake of time skip through here so they'll be on the screen if you want to mark them in your Bible or maybe highlight them on your tablet we're going to start in Leviticus chapter number 16 uh beginning at verse number five now this is uh a chapter that is describing the day of atonement it's going through the details and the steps of the day of atonement okay so Leviticus 16 beginning at verse number five and he shall take of the congregation speaking of the high priest of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering one RAM for a burnt offering let's jump down to verses s and 8 and he shall take the two goats and present them before the Lord at the door of the Tabernacle of the congregation and Aaron shall cast lots upon the Two Goats someone say Two Goats one lot for the Lord and the other lot for the scapegoat let's jump down to verse number 10 but the goat on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the Lord to make an atonement with him and to let him go for a scapegoat Into the Wilderness jump down to verse 15 then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering that is for the people and bring his blood within the veil and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bulock and sprinkle it on The Mercy Seat before the mercy seat jump down to verse number 20 and when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place and the Tabernacle the congregation and the altar he shall bring the live goat someone say the live goat goat verse number 21 and Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat someone say live goat you didn't know you'd be saying goat so much today and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel all their transgressions and all their sins putting them upon the head of the goat and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man someone say fit man come on someone say fit man fit Into the Wilderness verse 22 this will be our last verse as we open and the Goat shall bear upon him all the iniquities unto a land not inhabited and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness this morning I would like to minister to you from this simple thought A Tale of Two Goats A Tail of Two Goats why you put your Bibles or your devices down and again would you just slip up one of your hands and would you just begin to pray with me for a moment father we are so thankful for your spirit that is here that you are our champion that you are our Defender but Lord we pray right now that you would uh let your spirit begin to permeate through the pews of this great Sanctuary where your glory is and touch the Saints Lord touch their ears let them hear what the spirit says today but Lord help them uh to hear what you had have to say but touch my lips of clay Lord I'm your servant these these are your people this is your word this is your anointing and this is your glory and I pray Lord that you would just begin to minister to somebody some hope some refreshing today from your word in jesus' name we pray and everyone said amen would you clap your hands unto the Lord this morning I wish somebody would do it just a little bit louder can somebody do it just a little bit [Music] louder oh magnify the Lord with me come on let us exalt his name together hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah you can be seated today in the name of the Lord A Tail of Two Goats A Tail of Two Goats in this chapter something amazing is taking place it means incredibly good things happening to families or incredibly bad things happening to families it's the day of a atonement atonement means to appease to forgive to Pardon to purge to cancel out if you look at our English translation of this Hebrew word atonement it says at one atone at one it's reconciliation it's God and man becoming one they are reconciled together it's at onement that God is is going to reconcile man back unto himself God is going to enter back into this relationship with man and what separates man and God is sin so God designed an Old Testament system that foreshadows something greater to come in the new and so part of the ritual of this day of atonement he said you're to take a bulock this large bulock and this is for the priesthood and the priesthood is to offer this bulock for his own sins and then he is to take two goats he us to take two goats on the day of atonement now today we're you hear goat most in this room uh probably Gen X Millennials when you say goat uh short for greatest of all time so there's in your brain right now I keep saying goat you're thinking of hopefully Michael Jordan um and not somebody else but or or or Payton Manning there we go okay that's more like it than not somebody else the goat right the g o a t the greatest of all time and so the priest would would take not just a goat he would take two goats he take two goats part of this day of atonement to make a sacrifice and to reconcile man with God so there's two goats the first goat was the Lord's goat the Lord's goat it was his he was to cast two lots he was to cast the Lots before these two goats and whichever one was the Lord's goat the other would be the scapegoat the Lord's goat would be sacrificed it would be killed it's blood would be shed and it would be shed so it could bring forgiveness I think I've told this story a few times over the years but I never forget I I'm I was working with a man trying to bring him to church I was evangelizing and I'd come through here and I'd meet with him and I was trying to get him to come to church and he was always afraid he said if I show up the roof is going to fall in on me and I couldn't go to church you know God's God's got it out from me and I would begin to tell him about the blood of Jesus and he said I just don't like all of that blood talk why is there so much talk about blood well this is a bloody book this is a bloody book from Genesis to Revelation it is all about blood you cannot get into relationship with God unless there is Bloodshed and we've talked about Adam and Eve over the years if you've heard me preach or teach you know I talk about Genesis chapter number three because I believe everything Finds Its Genesis here in Genesis chapter number three that when Adam and Eve fell and they brought sin into the world they tried to cover themselves insufficiently with fig leaves well if you take a leaf from a tree it's all immediately it's going to begin to die it's going to dry up it's going to crumble and they would just have to go back to that tree over and over and over over again and so and so when God finds them that the the the leaves are not sufficient and so God himself provides a sacrifice and clothes them with skin because there's got to be something to take the place for the guilty person something innocent has got to take place for there to be reconciliation at onment with God and so God sheds blood and covers them with coats of skin and they are standing there in puddles of blood but they're standing there forgiven the only hope that we have today is the blood of Jesus Christ the writer would say without the shedding of blood there is no remission so he would take the the Lord's goat and he would kill it he would kill it and he would offer this Blood as the sacrifice for their forgiveness who's everybody's this Blood being Shed from this goat the Lord's goat was going to forgive the children of Israel of their sins and then he would take some of the blood and he would begin to sprinkle it upon the mercy seat that was in the holy of holies that's the only way what a bloody mess that was what a bloody mess that that was that he would have to take that blood and have it all over his hands and all over his arms and all over his attire and all over the mercy seat and then he would have to come out of the holy of holies and out into the out into the courts of the Tabernacle and he'd say where's the other goat isn't it enough to simply just kill the one goat he said no there's another goat that's the Lord's goat but here's another goat and this goat is called the scapegoat you've heard you've heard this phrase we use this phrase even today scapegoat it's familiar to us and it means person who takes blame for another person's actions and so this other goat was not the Lord's goat it was the scapegoat or the escape goat something else had to be done isn't it enough just one two goats why do we have to have two goats they have the Lord's goat it's dead the blood's applied but here's the thing there was another goat and this is what they would do now I studying and there are some sources that say that the high priest leading up this day of atonement just wasn't just showing up on the calendar un uh you know just unannounced they knew the day of atonement was coming and so for weeks and possibly months the high priest would go to every family in every tribe and he had take the goat this is what some sources say he'd take the scapegoat and he had present it to the families and the families would have to come and confess their sins to the high priest and the Goat can you imagine how awkward and how embarrassing this scene would be just think about that for a second think about the priest coming a knock it on your door in the middle of all the tribes and saying what did you do this year well I was farming and you know I was I had a pretty good year I'm not I'm not asking about your crops I'm not asking about your cattle I'm asking you what sins you committed go get your wife uh H yeah go get your children wh why wh what what what what for we're going to if you want forgiveness you're going to have to confess your sins so they take the goat let's just imagine this beautiful microphone here is the scapegoat and he'd put his hands on it now tell me what you did can you imagine what some wives are looking at their their husband going you did what and and husband's looking at their wife saying huh and children going and you guys are are calling yourselves parents what kind of parents are you you confess too little Abraham oh you stole what you did what and they're having this terrible embarrassing moment but let me tell you something there's no forgiveness without the shedding of blood but there's also no forgiveness without confession how embarrassing it would be for them to lay their hands upon the goat and confess all of their sins before the high priest why they they were guilty the goat wasn't guil guilty but it was going to take their place go on to the next family what did you do this year well you know I had a pretty good year you know I got a promotion on the job I'm not asking about promotions I'm asking you what sins you committed and from family to family to family to family to family to person to person to person they bring the goat to every every every family every head of every every tribe and every child and every parent and they take it to the next tribe and they take it to the next part of town and they take it and could you imagine how they are feeling as they are confessing their sins if there's anything that I want to get rid of I want to get rid of that goat I've got to get rid of that goat if anybody ever sees if everybody if anybody ever hears if that goat ever opens its mouth don't put it past God he let a donkey talk one time I heard somebody say if God can use a donkey he can sure use his brothery it's me get the goat out of here isn't it enough simply to have the one goat shed its blood why do we have to confess why do we have to let me just say this too and it's only going to work for the next 12 months they're going to have to do this in the old Covenant again the next year this was never ever going to stop they were never ever going to get away from this that's why it was either a good day or a bad day for some people there are some people who are saying you know what I don't want to do that their pride kept them from getting their sins forgiven some people's ego kept I wish somebody was hearing me right now from realizing that Redemption is if you come on there redemption's at your door forgiveness is at your door if you'll just simply swallow your pride God resists the proud but he gives grace to the humble you know what confession and repentance is it's humbling yourself get rid of that goat get rid of that goat we got to get rid of that goat I was studying and there's you might have an English translation uh there might be in your English trans translation where it says scapat or the one goat for the sacrifice and some like the English Standard Version calls it as AEL anybody got that in their Bible today as AEL in their Bible they say uh one for the Lord and the other one for as AEL it's made up of two Hebrew words meing up meaning goat and go away goat and go away so one had to die and the other had to live I'm G to say it again for some of y'all didn't hear me one had to die and the other had to live why do we celebrate Easter Easter because one had to die but he also had to live I'm glad to tell somebody today that if you will confess there is a sacrifice but I also want you to know that there is a resurrection that there is hope for you today that if he can die for your sins we can be raised to life with him the Lord's goat and one for Azazel now this is important because there are some who believe and if you go into chapter number 17 one chapter over the Lord tells them do not any longer sacrifice to Goat demons because there were some who believed that there was a demon or a devil and that that this goat was to go the goat that has all of these sins confessed upon its head that this goat is to go back to where it came from it got it has to go back to the author of sin I want you to know that there is some of us in this room today you need to realize you can send your sin back to where it came from I may have walked in here under guilt and shame but you need to realize that if I confess and forsake I want God to know that I'm free in deep but I also want the devil to know I'm not going back to those things that had me [Music] bound come on somebody some of us need to realize it's going to re we're going to have to send our sin back to where it came from and so it's going back parading as atonement as forgiv as Redemption it's going back to the desert before all of Hell saying yes they are a forgiven people blood has been shed and sin has been forsaken one dead the other alive but here's the part you just couldn't send the goat out on its own he was looking for a fit man he said there's two goats one's going to die and the other has got to be sent back to the desert but I can't just have anybody take that Stubborn Goat I'm looking for a fit man maybe in the margins of your English Bible it says man of opportunity or a willing man can you imagine again let's just use our imagination the priest has this goat Stubborn Goat who wants to take it to the Wilderness any takers who who wants to take this goat to a place so far away that it'll never come back I'm looking for somebody who will not give up when it gets hard I'm looking for somebody who doesn't mind getting kicked by a goat I'm looking for somebody strong enough I'm looking for somebody willing enough who will take that goat with all of its sins that are confessed and it take it to some place it'll never be found again I'm looking for a fit man is there anybody I can just imagine some of those men who had confessed over that goat saying not me oh no no no no no no no not me I'm I guarantee there is some weaklings in the crowd saying I there's somebody better than me there's somebody more capable than me I'm looking for somebody is there a fit man in the house he wasn't looking for a famous man I'm looking for a fit man not a famous man I'm looking for a fit man not a weakling I'm looking for a fit man who can go on the job and he's not worried about the job influencing his Spirit I'm looking for a fit man I'm looking for somebody who will deal with some stubborn sins I'm looking for a fit man who's tired of dealing with all the nonsense of the world and carnality I need somebody who's not going to be influenced by the confessed sins I'm looking for somebody who can get rid of this sin I'm looking for anybody is there anybody and I can just imagine all looking around like this is it you is it you it's not me it's got to be somebody else you know I think somebody so and so over here might be a good job oh Ain me I'm not doing that but then there's some willing Soul who stood up and said if nobody else will do it I'll do it I'm not going to be influenced by sin I'm not going to be influenced by the environment you said I got to go to the desert I'll go to the desert you're saying there might be some kind of devil out there some kind of demon go out there I'm not so concerned about that because you know what I'd rather have those people forgiven I'd rather have my family forgiven I'd rather have my family in Covenant with God than worry about I wish somebody was hearing me right now I'm willing to take the goat by the neck and I'll get him fire with somebody we need some fit men in this place we need some fit women in this place who'll say you know what I'm not going to be influenced by the world I'm not going to be influenced by my environment but there's just going to be some things I get rid of come on he didn't even have a name listed what's your name fit man God's not looking for people who want no notoriety he's looking for people who want Holiness and Holiness Holiness is not always in style but you know what I'm not called to fit in I'm called to be a fit man and to lead some goost out of here I'm called to be a fit man or a fit woman who's saying ask for me in my house we're going to serve the Lord if nobody else will do it give me that goat we'll go to the desert is there any fit men in this house is there any fit fathers is there any fit husbands and moms and H and wives in here you say you know what I'm going to deal with some stubborn sin listen that's why it's not enough it's not enough for you to Simply profess and confess you have to forsake on God will accept me any way that I am that is not in your Bible if you're going to come to God you're going to have to come to God in faith but you're also going to have to come to him on his terms and that is this repent for the kingdom of God is at hand yes you can come in here any way that you want but you can't stay the same way that you are you're going to have to confess profess but you're also going to have to learn how to forsake some of us live with too many stubborn sins and we call it a thorn in the flesh or we make excuses for it that that's just the way that I am and that's just what Dad did and that's what mother did but I'm wondering if somebody will say you know what I'm tired of it I'm not dealing with it anymore I'm not just asking for Mercy I'm looking for some separation from my sin I'm looking for forsaking my sin in a fit man is there a fit man he's going to have to be able to lead it out there and not get lost himself come on I got to get rid of you and in the mean time I can't make myself vulnerable to the desert in the wilderness you know I've heard this before and I don't mean to I'm not trying to meddle uh brother n you know we just need to go to the bars and win the people have you been there they're not looking for somebody to preach the gospel to them there and some of us aren't strong enough or fit enough I'm just going to go back to the part is where all the people are let me tell you something I want them to I want them to be saved it's not God's will that any should perish but he also doesn't want me to perish trying to save somebody can I just tell somebody today I am not the Christ and neither are you but we need somebody to realize that we're going to have to separate ourselves from some stuff I want to win everybody but I'm not going to go make myself vulnerable to all kinds of hostility and all kinds of Temptation I want you to be sa but you're going to have to be saved on God's terms not my terms you got to have to come on come on come on have you ever you ever try to tame a goat yeah I've seen I I I I was evangelizing in a previous life and um I was stand out out in this uh the middle of the woods really and uh it was a a little camper and I was in the middle of the woods I got pictures of it and there I was I was literally I was two miles from the main road when you got onto the driveway and there were goats everywhere you ever seen any goats before you ever seen you goats they are not intimidated by anything I'd pull up and i' I'd went just being an honory rolled down my window and scream at them cuz someone's like yeah you know that you scream and they'll fall down and act like they're dead they didn't do that to me they laugh look at that ball-headed guy why is he screaming at us and then they jump on your car they jump on the boxes I mean it's they're just they're wild you need a fit man I need a fit man to go and get rid of this sin but the Prophet Jeremiah he seen something the Prophet Jeremiah seen something let me go to let me show you something right here uh Jeremiah chapter number 50 you could throw that up there brother Derek in those days and in that time sayith the Lord the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for and there shall be none and the sins of Judah and they shall not be found for I will pardon them whom I will Reserve can I tell you it wasn't Abraham it wasn't Jacob it wasn't Isaac it wasn't David but Jeremiah knew there's going to be a day where I'm going to look for those sins and I'm not going to be able to find them can you imagine those people back at the back at the camp just waiting and watching looking for that man looking for that man looking for that fit man is he by himself did that goat follow him please don't come back please don't come back oh I couldn't face my family again please don't come back and I can just imagine them saying is he here is he here I think I see him coming there the goat with him I don't think the goat's coming back he's by himself could you imagine what rejoicing there would be when they realized the fit man was walking back and their sins were gone now there's a scripture I want to read to you I'm almost done I promise if y'all going to get ready look at this he's going to remove them you have to have them forgiven but you also have to have them Forsaken and forgotten look at what David says in Psalm 103 and 12 as far as the East is from the West so far has he removed our transgressions from us now brother Bryant shared this with me a few weeks ago and you share something with a preacher they're G to preach it so just be careful what you share with a preacher they're going to preach it and he showed me something and I went back and did a little studying why doesn't he say as far as the north is from the south why doesn't David say that I I you don't have a picture of the Earth on the screens here but if you are in an airplane and you decide to go to the North Pole you will get there but at some point if you keep going you're going to start traveling south to the South Pole so you've made it to one point but now all of a sudden you're going a different way you're going south and once you hit the South Pole now you start going back up guess what you're going north you've changed directions by going the same way but David didn't say as far as the north is from the south he says as far as the East is from the West so if you're in a plane and you get in a plane and you start heading east towards North Carolina and you pass over North Carolina and you go over the ocean and you start going all the way East again you keep going east you hit Africa and now you're in Europe and you get to Russia and you get all the way to to Asia and you you're still going east guess where East is going to take you it never stops being East unless you go the opposite direction Direction but if you go the opposite direction and you just go west I'm going to get in the plane I'm going to leave Tyson McGee and I'm going to start going west towards California and you go all the way towards California and you get past California and next thing you know you're in Asia and you keep going and now you're going all the other ways and guess where you're going to end up West all the time it never stops being West can I tell you the reason why David said as far as the East is from the West is cuz you cannot measure East from the west and he says I will remove it as far I want somebody to know if you ask him to forgive you he will remove it from you as far as the East is from the West I wish somebody would stand to their feet and give him some praise right now where does North and south and east and west meet North and South it's vertical imagine the cross of Jesus Christ it's in the ground one piece of wood going north and south but they put his arms out one on this side one on that side north and south and east and west meet all the time at a cross you want to know who the fit man is it wasn't David it wasn't Jeremiah it wasn't Abraham it's not Billy mcco Mark mcco Anthony MC Nate Whitley thank God it's not it was Jesus Christ and I want you to know if you want to be a fit man or a fit woman you're going to have to get the fit man in [Music] you I just I don't know about you but I when I read that text this week I felt the anxiety of those people in the tribes we could see the blood we could see that being applied I could see that I could see him going to the holy of holies I know he's supposed to be putting the blood on the mercy seat and he comes out he's got blood all over his hands I can see that what about that other goat where is it at where's that fit man at is it ever going to come back you know there are some in this room you live in constant fear that your past is going to show [Music] up you live in constant fear I I know he can forgive me through his blood and Resurrection brother N I know he wants to forgive but does he forget you know it's easy for us to find forgiveness it's difficult for us to find forgetfulness some of us we jump when the phone R who's calling me oh hope it's not my past doorbell rings like a dog you start barking oh God oh God who's here who's going to who's who's going to finally figure it out I'm a fraud I'm a I'm a hypocrite I'm a fake I'm a phony I'm a my sins are going to find me [Music] out you know that's a scripture that we take out of context your sins will find you out it does not say your sins will be found out I'm going to say that again for you who didn't hear me over here it says your sins will find you out not your sins will be found out some of us are in constant fear that our sins are going to be found out you know how you don't get your sins found [Music] out can I give you a secret a Biblical secret a Biblical promise if you will confess he will forgive if you will confess he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sin to cleanse us from all unrighteousness it begins with confession but the next step is forsaking you have to forsake your sin and some listen to me now I'm going to call all this to the altar in a second I'm going to do two things I'm going to Pastor for a second then I want to be an evangelist for the the second thing first thing is this some of us we don't think people repented unless they cried I didn't see them cry at the altar well first of all who are they crying to are they crying to you last time I checked you're not the Christ well I didn't see them come up and I didn't see them go through all you you didn't see them act Pentecostal is that all right you okay y'all still I'm pastoring for a second uh they were only up there for 30 seconds and I didn't know God had a timer P we don't have to go through sometime this is not a church of ritual this is not a church you're not going to come up to me and say brother Nate I need to I'm not I'm not father Nate you're going to come to him and however long it takes for you to confess and to ask for him to forgive you that's how boom he's done done done it's over it's done okay I'm pastoring I'm now I'm going to be an evangelist if you will come up here and really be honest with yourself and say some little prayer is not going to cut it today I'm not not just going to go up there and just hope no nobody hears me and nobody sees me and I'm just going to go up there and just ask him and I'm not saying he won't forgive you he'll forgive you but there's some stubborn sins I need to go out into the desert and it's going to take a fit man and a fit woman realizing I'm not playing patty cake today with my sins I'm going to deal with this goat I'm going to deal with it and I'm going to send it away from me and I'm never going to let it come back to my life and come back to my family is there anybody would lift up their hands right now I wonder if somebody lift up their hands to the fit man come on would somebody lift up their heart to the fit man if you want him to forgive you he'll forgive you come on if you've not been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ that's the next step for those who've repented and never been baptized you must be buried with him in baptism you must take on his name in baptism but also if you want the fit man in you you must have the Holy Ghost and if you don't have the Holy Ghost it's a gift it's a promise and he wants to give it to you today would somebody come would somebody bold enough come today and say he's my Champion he's my Defender he's the one who's going to come and rescue me he's the one who's going to forgive [Music] me come on it's time to deal with that Stubborn Goat it's time to deal with that thing that bothers you it keeps coming back it keeps coming back it's time for you to kill it it's time for you to send it away he is faithful and just to remove it as far as the East is from the west but don't invite it back the blood still flow the work is finished still knows that the grave is still the stone is still and you're still high and lifted up you're still Seated on the ground come on it's his grace come on he wants to do it the name above all yes Jesus you for the name above all with every hand lifted come on every hand lifted every eye closed come on every come on every eye closed every hand lifted right now come on there is forgiveness in this house there is there is redemption in this house for you today who's it for it's for everybody it's for every person the promises unto you and to your children and to all that are far off but all it begins with is one prayer all it begins is with one time to say Lord I'm tired of this thing I'm tired of this thing getting the best of me I'm tired of this thing constantly weighing me down the guilt of addiction the guilt of Pride the guilt of of greed the guilt of lust come on is there anybody who'll be honest enough and say I'm putting upon you it took two Lambs in the Old Testament but or two goats in the Old Testament but it takes one lamb in the new he's come to do it we can't do for ourselves and if somebody would cast theirself upon him right now he will give you forgiveness he will deliver you he will rescue you one more time lift up your voice lift up your voice and say Lord forgive me cleanse me and help me to forsake my sin [Music] Hallelujah every voice will Proclaim there is no higher name [Music] Hallelujah we will sing there is no [Music] higher [Applause] [Music] Hallelujah every voice will Proclaim there is no high name halelujah [Music] to we will [Music] [Applause] seeing all praise all [Applause] praise to the name above [Music] all Jesus [Music] you you're the name above all you're the above all you're the name above all you're the name above all for there is no one Higher no one greater No
