When God Uses the Venom

won't you clap your hands unto jesus come on somebody clap your hands like he really deserves it somebody worship him oh hallelujah i believe the holy ghost is in the house today it's been here it's been here weeks of preparation and prayer and dedication and consecration and god is here in this place to put his blessing upon it and once you get your bibles we're going to go to the book of numbers the book of numbers the fourth book in the bible and as you're turning there or swiping there or typing it into your device allow me to give honor this afternoon to your leadership to pastor sloan and sister sloan if you love your pastor won't you give him and sister sloan a great big come on somebody if you appreciate you love you pastor i have spoken i said it last night i'll say it again i'll keep saying it that i i have spoken about this church what you're doing here and the testimony of this church and i want to say this i'm not a prophet i'm not a son of a prophet but i believe you're just getting started you're just getting started right here god is setting you all up for the next phase i just believe that i don't know if it's the holy ghost or just me but i believe god's going to do something for this church god's doing something with this church it's powerful it's powerful what's happening here and i believe it's going to be otherworldly what god is going to unleash amongst this people but you got to be ready for it you can't do the same thing you've always done and expect a different result you you didn't hear me you can't do the same thing you always done and expect something different now the message never changes but the methods do the problem is people marry themselves to methods and they equate method with message and so they get called up and say well this is how we've always done it well guess what it's never going to change and people who do that are dangerous that's what causes church splits oh what are you talking about pastor whitley i'm talking about don't fall in love with the method fall in love with the message and he'll give you the method and next thing you know it's going to be absolute blessing and favor and anointing and growth i believe that i believe that i believe that so i honor your pastor and his wife and this great leadership team and all those the ministry i honor you and this great church i have looked forward to this since pastor asked me to come back my third time to be here and i hope it's not my last i have just enjoyed myself i wish my wife could be here and she's at home had to she oversees our music department and being a pastor's wife and administrator all the things that she does and so she couldn't be here but i want you know my little girl's really upset that she couldn't be here she was just like she's she wanted to stay home with my mom my what she calls her mama and so she wanted to stay with her last night but as soon as we got home she's like what'd you preach about you know i want to know what you preached about what you did where'd you go eat what did you eat i mean she's got to know everything about it i'm like well you could have come you could have been with me she's like nah nah i said mama you know maybe next time but uh we we we're just so glad that we could be here this weekend numbers chapter number 21. now look now if you're a bible reader and you make it past leviticus if you get to like march and you get to levit if you get through leviticus i want to give you a high five today i know leviticus is hard but then you're met with this book called numbers you're like hold on i just got through a million sacrifices and now i've got to talk about math are we serious like this is like what are we like oh like am i being like is there like a hidden video camera somewhere and you're like man like numbers why well it's a really bad name for this book is really it's not about numbers it's about the wanderings of god's people in the wilderness on their journey towards the promised land and really it should be called the book of wanderings but for some reason our english translators decided to play a cruel joke on people who hate math and say we're going to call this book numbers but it's really a great book it's a really great book a lot of great things take place in the book of numbers let me share some of that with you chapter number 21 beginning at verse number five and the people spake against god well here we go i mean write it right off right off the bat people spake against god it's not a good thing for you to speak against god then they spoke against moses which seems to be the common refrain from the end of exodus into deuteronomy wherefore have you brought us up out of egypt to die in the wilderness for there is no bread they had manna neither is there any water it came out of a rock and our soul loatheth this light bread and here's what happens when you murmur for too long here's what happens when you complain too much the lord sent fiery serpents among the people god will get tired of your mouth he will get tired of it and they bit the people and much people of israel died now look at verse number seven therefore the people came to moses and said we have sinned no doy no duh somebody from the nineties got that over there in the right hand side there for we have spoken against the lord and against you pray unto the lord that he take away the serpents from us and moses didn't get bitter moses didn't say i told you so moses prayed for the people and the lord said to moses now here's we we've gone from a problem to a remedy make thee a fiery serpent and set it upon a pole and it shall come to pass that everyone that is bitten when he looketh upon it shall live and moses made a serpent of brass and put it on a pole and it came to pass that if a serpent someone say serpent okay if a if a serpent had bitten any man and he beheld the serpent someone say serpents the serpent of brass he lived i'm going to give you john 3 14. they'll put on the screen maybe and as moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness even so must the son of man be lifted up i want to preach to you today and i promise i won't be long when god uses the venom when god uses the venom i don't know what you walked in here with i don't know what you came in here with but i want you to know that god can use the venom i want you to put your bible down your device down lift up your hand and i want you to pray a prayer with me father in the name of jesus i don't know what some individual some family has walked in here with but lord i pray that your spirit would give them a revelation that you can use the things that have been killing them that you can use the things that have been harming them but i pray right now that there'll be a great spirit of refreshing and encouragement and healing and deliverance and understanding come on somebody lift up your voice right now i pray that you would touch somebody right now we rebuke every distraction we rebuke every ill and evil spirit that would try to cause harm to your people today and i pray right now that your spirit would rest upon this room and begin to minister from your word through your spirit in gee i wonder if somebody lift up your voice now come on somebody lift up your voice in jesus name oh yes hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah you can be seen in the name of the lord when god uses the venom in 1944 the influenza vaccine was invented to help prevent prevent people getting the virus of the flu you are given a dead strain of the flu virus to help your immune system to fight against the possibility of catching the flu now i don't know about you somebody asked me are you going to get the flu shot i'm like no i'll just get the flu you know i don't either i don't need the shot to give me the flu i'm going to probably catch it anyway because if i get the shot i'm probably just going to go ahead and get the flu every happens every time anybody everybody you're like hey you going to get the flu shot so you don't get the flu you're like yeah yeah yeah and then you get the flu you're like well thank you thank you for that it just it just you know just went to the you know the checkout line it's in the super speed line you know you didn't want the flu so take the shot get the flu what your body is doing is it's it's helping you to fight against it so they give you a dead strain of the flu now think about this when someone is on the bad end of a snake bite they are treated with anti-venom which in turn is taking some of the venomous animals venom in finding the correct cure for the snake bite now think about that for a second if you get bitten by a snake first of all if you make it to the hospital congratulations you're halfway there then they get there and they go hey uh you have been bitten by a snake let me go get some more venom you're not hearing me this morning you're not scared you're not freaked out just a little bit they don't they don't give you a sh they don't give you uh saliva from a rabbit that they don't give you you know like some kind of uh you know cotton candy flavored you know medicine no if you've got if you've been bitten by a venomous snake you get some of the venom back in you why because they're trying to figure out if they could heal you from what has bitten you now you and i might think the act the exact opposite if you want to avoid venom you don't put venom in your body right but if you want healing they're going to give you more of the thing that's killing you that seems it is paradoxical to me and it might seem strange to us but i've come to tell somebody that the very thing that could be used to kill you could also be the very thing that makes you better well you're not you're not hearing me today uh we get to numbers chapter number 21 this incident can be related to what i've just told you the people of israel in their wandering of the wilderness spoke out one too many times against moses and against the lord and i figured the lord just had enough of their complaining and murmuring he was put up he was put out with all their crying and so guess what he sent them you don't like it here i'm going to make it worse you don't like it like this i'm you're going to wish you never came out of egypt have you had a parent do that i'm gonna make you're gonna wish you were never alive right and so he sent fiery serpents among them some bit the people and some died right there on the spot it was a case of trying and a great trial something was killing them something was breaking them something was destroying them wreaking havoc on them in the camp these fiery serpents would bite them and the venom would stone start taking effect and killing them but there were some who made their way from the havoc and got to moses and said hey we have sinned against you and the lord you're going to have to pray to him to rid us of the fiery serpents we've done wrong we made a mistake we said too much we've came too far we crossed the line hey can you pray for us somebody showed up before it was too late they came they cried out they said listen we can't go any further until we get healing we need deliverance from the pain we need healing from the hurt and the wounds we want restoration right now and so moses prayed he didn't say ha ha that's what you get no that's not what he did he prayed unto the lord for his people but here's what the lord tells moses to do i want you to make a fiery serpent out of brass could you imagine moses on the phone with the lord i think you're breaking up think your bluetooth got connected to your car did you what did you say there lord i think your heart i think i now i know i prayed that you would give them deliverance from the fiery serpent maybe you're just repeating back to me what i said can you repeat what you said the remedy was and the lord says you heard me right the first time i want you to make a fiery serpent out of brass put it on a pole lift it up and all i want them to do is look at it just look at it that's all i wanted to do just look at it lift it up and look at it and i can i can just imagine moses put down the phone and he looked at his brother and he said uh you're not gonna believe this uh the the remedy the cure for these people from the venom of the fiery serpent is to make more fiery serpents and all they're going to have to do is look at it just look at that that's all i want you to do is just to look at it and he goes are you serious i think you better make sure your bluetooth didn't get connected to the car i don't think you heard him right no he said make a fiery serpent out of brass lift it up on a pole and have him look at it and could you imagine now that aaron who is speaking for moses goes and tells those people you're not going to believe this the thing that's killing you is going to be the thing that saves you the thing that you thought was going to end your life the thing that you thought was gonna destroy you and you're not gonna make it until tomorrow is the very thing that you're gonna have to look at and behold and when god uses the venom ah yeah you would have thought the lord would have told them i want you to make a dove i want you to make a dove out of gold or i want you to make an eagle out of silver i want you to make a teddy bear out of cotton oh no he said that fiery serpents are killing them i want you to make my fiery serpents put it on a pole and tell them to look at it i've come to tell somebody today the very thing that you thought was gonna kill you might just be the thing that saves you the very thing that you thought was gonna kill your family and kill your marriage and kill your future and oh yeah you thought it was going to ruin you but i've come to tell somebody god will use the venom god will use the very thing that's killing you and hurting you to bring you oh if somebody was helping me right now i want to tell you you may have walked in here broken and wounded and hurt but i want to tell you god can use the venom he can use your messed up past and he can use your messed up problems and he can say i always want you to get your head up i just want you to get your gaze on me i can use that look up and just look at it what a strange request they're to be reminded of the thing that's killing them and the thing that's killing them is going to be the thing that saves them there are times when god has to use the venom we don't like to think that way we don't like to you god that way we want to view god as merciful and graceful but his methods his ways his thoughts are not our thoughts our ways are not his ways or our methods his methods but you need to look up and realize you may have walked in here maimed you may have walked in here hurting you may have walked in here bruised but i've come to tell you god just might use that to get you to the next place oh somebody hear me today god can use the venom the very thing that you think is going to kill you or should have killed you is anybody still here it should have killed you but you showed up on sunday afternoon and you say i've got the scars i got the bruises i've got the proof that i made it i'm telling you right now i'm a living walking breathing testimony of god's faithfulness that he's used the venom he's used the cancer he's used the hurt he's used the abuse he's used the divorce he's used the addiction he's used the alcoholism he's used the rejection he's used it all i'm still here and if i'm still here i can face tomorrow you know why because god is anybody here what i'm saying today that if you're still here he's not through yet it's not over it's your best days are not behind you what you got to do is look up for your redemption draw if not look up that's where my help comes from it comes from the lord if you believe that i want you to clap your hands if you've been through some stuff and you're still here you should give god praise right now you've been through tragedy you've been through trauma you've been through trials and you're still here you've been through some stuff and i want to tell you it's by the blood of the lamb and by the word of your testimony that we're gonna get through it you don't have to make it to heaven in perfect shape you just gotta get there i might be broken i might be missing a leg i might be missing the pinky but i'm still here i'll i'll crawl i may not run i may crawl to heaven but i'm going to get there because god is going to use the venom i can imagine those who were swollen bleeding in parts looking at shock looking in shock at moses what did you say i told you that we've gotta get brass beat it and it's gotta look like a serpent then i gotta wrap it around a pole put it down and you gotta look up now i don't know about you i probably would have said could you repeat that all these people down there are dying we barely made it here ourselves and you're telling us that you have to go get some brass get a hammer get the blueprints get the architect get the creator go get the creative team go get the committee and then you got to go get the hammer and then you got to go get the pole and it's not going to be a teddy bear it's not going to be cotton candy it's not going to be a unicorn and rainbows oh no i want you to make it a serpent the thing that's killing you is going to be the thing that saves you you're not hearing me right now i know it seems crazy i know it seems paradoxical but the thing that you thought was gonna ruin you is gonna be the thing that come on it kept you praying it kept you faithful it kept you worshiping it kept you given it kept your family together why because god can use the messed up broken things he's got to beat it first shape it into it he didn't say it had to be beautiful it's just got to be in the form of a serpent i want you to be reminded of where you came from i'm i'm gonna test i'm afraid we get too sanctified and saintly that we try to put off this persona that we walked out of the womb talking in tongues when really he drug you out of the bar he drug you out of addiction he drug you out of adultery come on somebody you need to remember your past don't romanticize it but remember it may be best up it may be broken and wounded and curled up in all kinds of way but i want you to know i'm here because he found something in me he used my past he used my brokenness can you imagine those there i just i got a weird imagination then they're watching him pound that brass is that good enough i don't know what do you think hurry it up there's people dying down there how are you doing you're still here right there's people still hurting in the world poof poof poof hey don't you know it's been 20 years it's called patience you complained because you didn't get your prayer answered in a minute israel now you're going to wait on the deliverance some of us need to learn how to have some patience in life and realize some miracles don't take place in an instant sometimes it takes days and weeks and months and years but all of a sudden you look back and there's the serpent there's the vitamins say hey i made it i made it i mean i'm a second generation apostolic and they're a third generation apostolic hey we made it it didn't happen overnight come on godly marriages don't happen overnight godly kids don't take place in an instant sometimes it takes time it takes weeks and months listen god can use the venom paul talked about this in second corinthians he talked about this in second corinthians he's trying to tell the corinthian church there are some people who like to talk about who they are and what they do he said let me tell you about a man i know about 14 years ago whether in the body i cannot tell whether out of the body i cannot tell god knows such a one caught up into the third heaven i knew such a man whether in the body or out of the body i cannot tell god knows how that he was caught up in the paradise and heard unspeakable words which are not lawful for a man to utter of such a one i will glory yet of myself i will not glory i'm not going to tell you what conferences i've preached i'm not going to tell you of what countries i've been to i'm not going to tell you other things that i've seen and i've heard but what i can tell you is i'm a man and i've got something in me called infirmity i've got something in me called flesh i've got something in me called venom i've got something in me called a thorn in the flesh i can tell you you see we want to talk about the conferences and the camps and the places we've been we don't want to talk about the thorn paul said i have a thorn a messenger of satan to buffet me why lest i should be exalted above measure and he said i sought the lord not just once not just twice i sought him three times to remove this thing out of my flesh and god said listen paul if you want to see things that nobody else sees if you want to hear things that nobody else hears if you want to go places that nobody else goes if you want to know the depths and the heights and the widths of god let me tell you something paul i'm not going to remove that thorn why because my grace is sufficient where there is venom my grace is sufficient where there's brokenness you thought it was a problem you thought it was an issue but god says no you need an enemy you need something in your life that keeps you humble come on if you want to go up if you want to see things here things do things you have to do it with a thorn in your flesh oftentimes god doesn't remove the weakness or remove the wound sometimes he won't even remove the memory i'm keeping it right there i know what i'm doing paul and there's people who are always trying to figure out what paul's thorn was i believe paul left it out because he wanted to be oblivious to everybody so everybody could relate to it whether he was blind or whether he was sick whether he was maim oh i don't know what it is but all of us could relate to paul and say we've come to an altar and said god get rid of this problem god get rid of this issue get rid of this brokenness and god says honey if you want me to use you if you want to hear things see things go places i can't remove that but what i can give you is grace what i can give you oh you're not hearing me right now you know what paul's thorn didn't do it didn't cause him to pout it caused him to pray what we've got is our we had a generation of powders and say well i can't make it today because i'm dealing with this thing and i can't do that because i got that thing i want you to know don't let your thorn become your crutch don't let your thorn your weakness your brokenness become your excuse instead it should drive you to prayer it should drive you the fasting it should drive you to consecration why because without him and without the venom i'm nothing i wish somebody right now would lift up their hands lift up their heart i'm telling you right now he's not going to remove the thorn he's not going to remove the venom but he just might give you grace somebody say amen i'm almost done come on kept on the keys i'm almost done the holy ghost is moving right now i've not come to wax eloquent i've come to tell somebody god uses the venom i've come to tell somebody he's not going to take away the bruise he's not going to take away the wound he's just going to give you grace you can allow your wound to make you bitter i've seen too many people get hurt and that becomes their identity they become sad sac sally grumbling gary oh here they come complaining kathy negative nathan traditional theodore you know my last church we did it like this and what happened to your last church and why did you leave there is it better because you left you know sometimes the grass is not greener on the other side the issue is you've not watered your side of the garden i don't know who that was for but it was for free i want to tell you leaving and going somewhere else may not heal you but i'm telling you if you'll realize that god can use the venom he can use the thorn and he you don't have to allow it to become your attitude well i'll guess i worship i'll guess i'll show up i'll just do the bare minimum to appease my conscience but everybody's going to know i'm having a bad day do you ever have a good day are you ever in a good mood do you ever have anything go your way no i just got this old thorn but paul said no he didn't remove the thorn he took me higher i heard things i'd never heard before i can't even tell you what i heard i can't even tell you about what i seen but i can tell you about my prayer don't let your wound lead to you to becoming negative bitter sour ruined instead it should drive you to prayer your response to the venom is going to bring you the response and the reward that god wants to give unto you do you pray or do you pout well must be nice they get all the advantages must be nice they get to go on all those vacations must be nice to get all the promotions must be nice they get to be in the microphone on the praise team have you practiced have you prepared have you saved have you worked stand stand i'm i'm making you uncomfortable now you see some of y'all see other people's palace moments joseph moments everybody wants joseph's palace moments it must be nice to preach that camp must be nice preach that conference must be nice to drive that car must be nice to be in the palace joseph oh yeah oh privilege yeah but you don't see joseph's prison moment you don't see joseph's pit moment you just show up on the third act and you think they're privileged and and joseph goes no i'm just promised i didn't let the thorn kill me i didn't let the prison destroy me i didn't let the pit get in my spirits come on there's a palace in your future if you'll get out of your pit mentality some of us live in a pit mentality i'll just live in this pit for the rest of my life i'll just live in the pit for the rest of my life and god says if you'll just let me i'll promote you to the next place prison might not seem great to a lot of us but it was better than a pit then god takes him to the next place promise but you know what joseph never he never grumbled can't find in the bible at least by saying that he didn't he just kept waiting for the brass to be beaten i don't know who walked in here today bruised broken hurt frustrated disappointed but there's somebody else in the bible his name is jesus and he was wounded not for his transgressions but for mine peter would say by his stripes or by his wounds we were healed i love this when thomas goes after jesus has shown himself alive thomas goes i'm not going to believe it until i see it for myself and so jesus walks through a wall shows up and says hey thomas i heard your dumb prayer you thought i wasn't around but i heard your dumb prayer now stretch forth your hands that even though i'm resurrected i kept the wounds i kept the wounds and if he can keep the wounds you can keep the wounds but i want to tell somebody for the holy ghost i felt him speak to me a few moments ago before i started that he might not heal it but he will use it he might not heal it but he will he promises to use it he might not heal you of the wound but i guarantee you right now that he will use it somebody lift up your hands right now he might not heal it but he will use it can he heal it of course he can but he will use it if he doesn't heal it someone somebody lift up your hands right now i feel the holy ghost somebody in this room you've walked in here hurt you walked in here offended you've walked in here bruised you've walked in here with pain i want you to come to this altar right now i wouldn't listen they came running up that mountain they crawled up that mountain they said moses help us help us help us i want you to know that he's here to help but he might just use the venom he might not remove the thorn but he'll give you grace he'll give you grace come on somebody i want somebody to lay your hands on somebody i want you to pray the prayer of faith there's healing there's healing right now there's deliverance right now there's assurance right now he may not heal your cancer but he can use it he may not heal the abuse but he can use it he may not erase the memory but he can use it as a testimony of his grace and goodness come on somebody receive that word into your spirit you're wondering why you went through what you went through i can tell you of times of abuse in my life i don't know why i went through it as a little boy but he can use it he can use it emotional abuse i don't know why you've had to go through that but he can use it come on rejection and hurt mental abuse and emotional abuse i don't know why you went through that but he can use it he may not take it away but he can use it he caught taylor shaw somebody pray right now come on this is no time for you to be a spectator but i want somebody right now to lay your hands on somebody maybe it's not you i'm talking to but somebody else there's a thorn there's a wound there's a hurt there's a disappointment there's a sickness there's a discomfort there's a pain but he can use it can he heal it yes but he can also use it he who has wounds knows how to heal up listen to me one more time listen to me one more time listen to me i feel the holy ghost and we're gonna keep praying i know you've heard this before i feel the holy ghost to tell somebody right now hurt people hurt people jesus was wounded and he chooses to use his wounds for healing don't use your hurts to hurt other people don't use your hurts to harm other people use the wounds to heal and encourage and say i know what it's like i've been there i know what it feels like i want you to pray for somebody right now maybe you've been hurt maybe you've been offended but god can use that to heal somebody else he kept the wounds he kept the wounds but he's using those wounds to heal on you wonder why the you say the thing that you say come on you wanna you wanna know why you're equipped to have anger you wanna you wanna know why you're quick and being temperamental it's because you've not allowed god to use it come on you don't have to use that to hurt other people but you can allow him to use those wounds in your life to heal other people but you gotta first let him touch you and realize i'll give you grace my grace is sufficient my grace is sufficient you got trust issues you got trust issues you can't trust anybody else because you've been hurt but until you get over it until you find grace you'll never have peace you'll never have trust you're going to have to give that to him he who kept the wounds is using those wounds well the holy ghost is thick in this room right now come on there are angels ministering spirits here you don't know what they walk through you don't know what they've been through but i'm telling you god can use it you take and you turn it forward but a palace is in your future come on you might be in a prison of pain but there's a palace of promise in your future and you turn it for good lord you told god you see me where i am lord you know what led me to this place i'm reaching for you jesus come on that's right i'm reaching for you jesus yes lord yes lord yes oh yes lord yes jesus you are the holy god you are the righteous god you are the perfect savior you are lord god everything your everything your everything jesus oh come on the lord can take it right now he can work in your life ah jesus jesus glorify we glorify we glorify the name of jesus the name of jesus how many are thankful that the lord sees you through the the challenge times the bad times oh come on god's doing the work aren't you glad that he hasn't walked away from you yet he's making something out of your life i glorify you i glorify you come on thank him lord come on thank him let it go come on just thank him i thank you jesus i believe you lord i believe you your way is right god your your way is exalted your plan lord is perfect it's everything god it's all inclusive it's all you you've not left out any detail god but you know where i am today oh god you know where i'm located right now i sure do need you come on let the holy ghost move right now one more time in the name of jesus come on you better run into the presence of the lord i'm coming to you god i need you jesus yeah i need you jesus i'm nothing without you i am nothing without you i bless your name god i bless your name hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah jesus i think probably the great challenge for humanity is we want to know the why and the why and the why and the why make no mistake friend make no mistake the snake the serpent in the wilderness was biting and killing the people out of their words they're the ones that brought that they're the ones and then folk are dying in the left and right and brother williams so capably painted the picture of how that in their frustration and in their their come to jesus meeting they finally realize we we need to fix this why then would god have them make a serpent of brass and lift it up i i don't know a whole lot about snakes and i'm i'm not a snake handler y'all y'all do with him what you want ain't me brother jer are you with me but when venomous snakes are biting my family and they're dying i i have no i don't want nothing to do with a snake i ain't preaching this message i'm telling you the lord revealed some incredible things in this house today you're the one got in that mess your only way out is to call on the lord god now you make no man he's not going to lift up all your sin and all your stuff what the lord was demonstrating to the people of god at that moment was this that was killing you and you get it high right oh god a snake crawling on his belly ain't worth nothing but you get it up in the air you'll lift your vision up put your head back down stare at the snake on the ground again watch what happens no you better lift it up that's why the new y'all get me started on that how'd they even know about that story i dare say a thousand scribes died well how was that story even written about sister renee that that generations later the new testament it would come out just like that snake in the word that just lift it up that's what needs that grace needs to work somebody maybe on their last breath brother rob said snake was there but the brass snake overcame and when we looked up we didn't die there's a whole stack of messed up folk in this room today but you need to step on off the pad of causing you to fall and you need to step on into the principles of god i'm healed i'm healed you took care of me lord i wish you get up close to somebody right now near you and i want you to pray one for another as we leave this place today god help us to always remember you delivered us you heal come on pray for your neighbor right now pray for the one you love right next to you god of glory you know lord what we're going through what we've been through it could have destroyed all of us but it did not it did not victory comes lord when we lift you up jesus when we get close
