Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

The opening reading: Psalm 16

  • He opens by reading the psalm: 'Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.'
  • The reading runs through the portion and the cup, the pleasant places and the goodly heritage, to 'at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.'
  • Verse 8 is singled out before the reading ends: 'I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.'

Scriptures: Psalm 16:1-11

What the right hand means

  • In Scripture the right hand is the place of power and importance; in Matthew's judgment scene the sheep stand on the right and the goats on the left.
  • 'That thy beloved may be delivered, save with thy right hand, and hear me' — the right hand is where deliverance comes from.
  • 'Thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great' — it does not take God's whole body to hold a person up, only his right hand.
  • At the sea the right hand stretched out and the earth swallowed the enemy; 'Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power.'

Scriptures: Matthew (book-only, as spoken); Psalm 60:5; Psalm 18:35; Exodus 15:12; Exodus 15:6

Job: when God seems to work with the left hand

  • Satan's own testimony: God had made a hedge about Job, about his house, and about all that he had on every side.
  • Job in his season could not see God at the right hand: 'On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him.'
  • God's word to Job: 'Then shall I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee' — our own best work cannot get us out.
  • The Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends, and gave him twice as much as he had before.

Scriptures: Job 1:9-10; Job 23:9; Job 40:14; Job 42:10

Set the Lord at your right hand

  • David's secret, restated from the text: when I put God at my right hand, God puts me in his right hand.
  • 'Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.'
  • 'For with God nothing shall be impossible' — everything is impossible on our own; in his right hand, nothing is.
  • 'Fear thou not; for I am with thee... I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.'

Scriptures: Psalm 16:8; Psalm 16:11; Luke 1:37; Isaiah 41:10

Satan's right hand, and David's low psalm

  • The best Satan has is a right hand of falsehood: 'whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.'
  • David's psalm of refusal: 'My soul refused to be comforted... I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed.'
  • The turn comes at remembrance: 'But I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.'
  • Some will never see the right hand of God because they believe the lies; the cure is to remember and to talk of his doings.

Scriptures: Psalm 144:8; Psalm 77:1-12

Remembering the years of the right hand here

  • Kenny Hurst came to this church addicted; now he witnesses to people and shows them deliverance through baptism.
  • Todd Malone lay in a coma for six weeks and was revived twice; the preacher has him stand as the right hand of God made visible.
  • Sister Dorothy Davis was saved from a fatal car wreck, and in that same hospital season the preacher's grandfather Tommy Maynard was filled with the Holy Ghost in a hospital room.
  • Sister Kirby was healed of cancer twice; Brother Kirby, who had come into the church blind, was healed — months before Sister Kirby's death.
  • Amber Buchanan, paralyzed from her chest down, was that morning picking up one foot and putting down the other as she worshiped.

The interceding Christ and the withered hand

  • Joshua the high priest stands before the angel with Satan at his right hand to resist him — and hears, 'The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan... Is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?'
  • 'Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: but I have prayed for thee.'
  • Christ is at the right hand of God making intercession — not idle in the place of power, but praying for his own.
  • His last text: the man whose right hand was withered, told 'Stretch forth thine hand' — and it was restored whole as the other.
  • The altar call follows the text: stretch forth the withered hand, the broken marriage, the doctor's report — do not hide it, and the right hand of God will restore it.

Be so kind to stand with me all across this house. We're going to have to uh break him and Piper up. I got to be the favorite son-in-law. So, we got to plant something on him. He's He's too good. He's too good. But it's so good to have him tonight. Psalms 16 verse number one. Psalms chapter 16 verse number one. I know where we're going to start. I know where we're going to take off from. Uh, but I have no clue where we're going to land. Might be a crash landing, but we're going to land somewhere. Uh, but I know where we're going to start tonight. Psalm 16 and one says, "Preserve me, oh God, for in thee do I put my trust, oh my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, thou art my Lord. My goodness extendeth not to thee, but to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent in whom is all my delight. Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god. They their drink offerings of blood will I not offer nor take up their names unto my lips. The Lord is the portion of mine. Inheritance of my cup. Thou maintainest my lot. The lions are fallen unto me in pleasant places. Yay, I have goodly heritage. How many are thankful for a goodly heritage? Amen. How many are thankful for a goodly heritage tonight? Amen. I will bless the Lord who hath given me counsel. My reigns also instruct me in the night seasons. Verse number eight is going to help us preach tonight. I have set the Lord always before me because he is at my right hand. Somebody say right hand. >> If he's at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore, my heart is glad and my glory rejoicth. My flesh also shall rest in hope. For thou wil not leave my soul in hell. Famous scripture. Neither wilt thou suffer thine holy one to see corruption. Thou wilt show me the path of life. And in thy presence is fullness of joy. And at thy right hand there are pleasures forever more. That's the kind of God I want to serve tonight. That at his right hand there's pleasures forever more. Not making any fun of left-handers tonight. I'm getting there. The most important three people in this church are left-handed. Pastor, Pastor Ericson, and most importantly, my mother are all left-handers. And tonight, with the help of the Lord, I want to preach on a right-handed God. A right-handed God. You put your Bibles down with me. You lift your voice up to heaven. Lift your voice. And let's ask God to help us this evening. Come on. Let's ask God to minister to us tonight. I believe there's a power of God that's going to come minister to someone in this time of need. Come on. There's a there's a right-handed God that's going to minister to someone in midst of tragedy. There's a right-handed God that's going to come minister to someone who needs a touch from him tonight. Lord, we thank you. I ask that you would anoint us tonight. God, help us to respond to your word. Lord, I thank you for your goodness and and your grace. God, I thank you for what you're doing in our lives. God, I thank you, Lord. You're going to show us your power and we do everything in your name. In Jesus' name, we pray. Could someone say, "In Jesus name." Now, let's clap our hands all across this room tonight. Come on. If you know the Lord is real and the Lord is strong. If you know the Lord is powerful, could you lift your voice to him right now? Come on. And let's entertain the presence of God that's been in this place since 6:00 tonight. Come on. has entertained the almighty God, the omnipotent God. Come on, that's it. Oh, the glory is in this ri is in this place. God, we thank you tonight for your goodness. In Jesus' name we pray. Someone said, "In Jesus name, you could be seated all across this house tonight." And brother Jonas, I know I'm putting you on the spot. I want you to come up. Uh I I forgot that you were going to be here tonight. I asked Reagan to testify earlier, so we had something prepared. Now, you can just say this is like a Kmart church and we'll we'll get your point, but I want Brother Jonas to greet us tonight. Take your time. >> Well, I didn't expect this, so we're just going to go with it. I will say um I have had the opportunity to go with my dad a little bit as he travels. And you get to see other churches and I love my church and I come here and it just feels like home sometimes. >> And you guys are in a great church. And I will say this too that today or not today but past couple days a great family in our church they just lost uh their daughter. Their daughter just died passed away unexpectedly. And it just brought to my attention that like you know we never know when the last day is for us and you never know what you're going to do. But the people at this great family in our church, they were there today worshiping God. It just touched my heart because you never know what someone's going through. But if you're struggling today, that this is a place where you can come to God and he will touch you and he will make a way in your life. No matter what you're going through, God will make a way in your life. And I'm not going to take that much time because we got a much better guy up here. So I'll let him go. >> Come on, let's give a hand for brother Jonas tonight. Thank you for being in season, instant in season and out. And thank you for not mentioning Ohio State football. We really appreciated that one. I love Brother Jonas. Such a a good young man. He is a a Bible study teacher and uh many many people have been baptized and I know he likes my little niece and uh but I don't have to like him, you know. I I like but I do like him. And um he uh he has been teaching Bible studies and and uh he they have baptized several. Brother Jonas, I want you to brag on yourself. How many of you baptized from Bible studies that you've taught? Come on, don't be bashful. I know at least three. I know of at least three. We round up. There it is. Seven people that he's baptized in Jesus name. But Jonas, that is such tremendous. That is awesome. That is so awesome. a right-handed God. Not making fun of left-handers tonight, but we serve a right-handed God. We know that the right hand in scripture is commonly a place of power or of importance. Oftent times we use this expression when we talk about someone we couldn't do something without or they are very important to us. We will say he is my right-and man. Or as the church, we will say the greatest thing that we can give to guests tonight is a right hand of fellowship. You know, it's how odd it is when somebody comes up to you and tries to shake with their left hand. It's kind of an awkward moment when you're like, uh, left left hand left hand shakes catches you off guard. But in some of some cultures, the left hand uh a left handshake is looked at as a sign of disrespect. Has anybody ever seen someone try to write left-handed? You know, I remember growing up with people and they try to write, they would write left-handed because they are left-handed and next thing you know, they would have a bunch of marks right here from all the the pen ink and the pencil marks and everything else. I saw we rented a car the other day and this poor lady, she was so sweet helping us and she was left-handed and she had to write like this above the paper to make sure. I said, "That is such a cool way of writing." She said, "Well, as a left-handed person, you learn how to not get marks on yourself, and that's how I write." And u again not making fun of left-handed people but the left hand in scripture is often referred to with God as divine justice or judgment. We see in the book of Matthew that the Bible says the goats were put on the left side and the sheep were put on the right side. But over and over and over again, I challenge you after church to just search in the scripture the right hand. And you will see over and over again the right hand of God is mentioned. And when the right hand of God is mentioned, there would be something that takes place when the right hand of God begins to operate. David with all of his flaws knew the power of the right hand of God. Psalm 60 and5 says that thy beloved may be delivered and save with thy right hand and hear me. This place of the right hand represents authority and power. It's a a it's a place of a position of power. In in Bible days, when a king would place someone on their right side, when some when a king would place a person at their right side, they had equal authority or equal power as the king. When you are placed in the right side or the right hand, you have an equal power with someone who gave you that power or placed you in the right hand. Psalms 18 and35, "Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation, and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great." I want to encourage someone tonight. However you how heav heavy you feel all your issues are in your life and how dysfunctional your family is and how dysfunctional uh dysfunctional your marriage might be. I want to tell you all it takes is the right hand of God to hold you up. Doesn't take God's whole body. It doesn't take the face of God. It could just be God's simple right hand that holds you up or God's simple right hand that reaches down to the pit of sin and pulls you out. And I'm so thankful we serve that type of God tonight that can just reach his right hand down to America's revival on a Sunday night and pick you up out of the pit of sin. All it would take is God's right hand to pick you >> up. The right hand of God is a place of strength. The question could be, how strong is the right hand of God? Can God create something that his right hand could not move or shape? If God would create something so big that he could not move it, his power would just increase to be able to move what is put in front of him. It's the kind of God we serve. His power just begins. So whatever is needed, that's how much power he has. How much power in his right hand does he have? Exodus 15:12 says, "Thou stretchest out thy right hand, and the earth swallowed them." So, whatever you're facing, and I'm going to go back to it over and over again, whatever you're facing, all God's got to do is wave his right hand. That's right. >> Whatever's attacking you, whatever's plaguing your family, all God's got to do is wave his right hand, and the earth will swallow them up. God not only has the power to keep you away from the enemy, but God's right hand can deliver you out of the hands of the enemy. We serve a God that can keep you away from the enemy and protect your family. But let's be honest with us, we all make mistakes. It's not necessarily this that Satan is succeeding in our lives or succeeding in our families or succeeding in our children or succeeding at our jobs. But sometimes we make mistakes. We put ourselves in the hands of the enemy. We put ourselves in the hands of terrible situations. It's my fault. It's not that Satan, he is defeated. I want to remind somebody of that. He is a defeated foe. Whatever you feel from him, he is a defeated foe. But sometimes we are delivered into the hands of the enemy. Whether it be it by our mistakes or whatever have you. Exodus 15 and 6 says, "Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power. Thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy." on this Sunday night. It makes me feel good that we serve a God that whatever I'm facing, his simple right hand can deliver me out of the pit of sin. It can deliver me out of the place of bondage. It can deliver me out of the enemy. I want to tell us tonight, what our country needs is the right hand of God to begin to move. What you've seen on the news the last few months is God's right hand trying to move. And let's not be ignorant to what God is trying to do. this revival. I'm so glad tonight we have precious ladies from this community. They told us tonight that they serve. They worship at a Baptist church here in Blunt County. But I want to tell us all this revival, the right hand of God. It's not just for the Pentecostals. It's for every person that will worship God. It's every person that will recognize the right hand of God. That's how powerful the right hand of God. I pray the right hand of God. baptizes every church in this county. I pray the right hand of God will come down and stir us up. The right hand, the right hand of God. We've seen it happen >> the last few months. The right hand of God. Now, it just ignore the the person of the president. And I don't want to be political, but our president did say this when Charlie Kirk had his memorial service. and thousands upon thousands would worship and praise God. He said it felt like an oldtime revival service. >> Now whether he has been to an old time revival service or not, I have no clue. I doubt it, but I have no clue. But I want to tell us an old time revival is taking place in this country. And it's the right hand of God. >> Maybe the enemy that has us captive, it's the right hand of God in this last day that's going to shake us up. It's the right hand of God that's trying to stir you up to do something for him. Don't ignore it. Don't Don't push it to the side. Obey the right hand of God. >> Exodus 15 and six, thy right hand, oh Lord, has become glorious in power. Thy right hand, oh Lord, have dashed in pieces the enemy. I want us to know that if you are serving God, he has the power to keep you away from the enemy. But I also want to tell you, if you're found trapped by the enemy, know the power of the God's right hand can deliver you out for the enemy's presence. >> It's how powerful of a God we serve tonight. It was God that was just poking fun with Satan when he asks, "Have you considered my servant Job?" God is somewhat humorous. We read it today, pastor, when you were when when we were talking about Jesus and and all the ra all the Pharisees and Sadducees that he would just have a little fun with. And and we know that God is the same. We go back and we know that Jesus we know God wrote in the flesh had a little bit of fun with the Pharisees and Sadducees and and God in the Old Testament had a little bit of fun with Satan when he asked him a question that he already knew the answer to. Have you considered my servant Job? But all the while, God knew that Job was protected. All the while, God knew that he had Job in the palm of his hand, asking a question that God knew Satan did didn't have the ability to work and to move. Then Satan answered the Lord and said, "Du Job fear God for not? hast not thou made a hedge about him and about his house and about all that he hath every hath on every side? I want to encourage you tonight. No matter how crazy the world gets, God's got us protected if we're in his hand. The Bible says everything at his house, we need our homes to be protected by the hand of God. I need my marriage to be protected by the hand of God. I want the hedge of God's protection and his hand to be around my family. >> Have you considered him, God? You know, God, you know you you're the one that he's in your hand. He's in your hand. You've made a hedge about him, about his house, and all that heath on every side. Thou hast blessed the work of his hand, and the substance is increased in the land. God can protect us and our house with his powerful hand. What it would take for Satan to move and to afflict is for God to remove his hand. And we know the story of Job. We know how Satan begins to afflict. Children begin to die. Cattle begin to die. Houses begin. Fires begin and houses begin to crumble. winds began and storms happened all because God took his hand off for Satan to move. Job, of course, like anybody would probably wonder why. Job would wonder why when when you're protected, when you've had the hand of God in your life, why am I facing what I'm facing? He says on the left hand where he doth work in Job 23:9 on the left hand I don't even feel God's right hand. I feel like he's working on the left hand his divine justice and his divine judgment is happening. I feel like God's working with his left hand and I behold I cannot I cannot behold him. He hideth himself on the right hand >> that I cannot see him. Job goes into a season of his life that he can't see God in his right hand. But quite the opposite, he feels like Job is working. God is working on the left hand with just with divine justice and divine judgment. I want to tell somebody tonight, you may feel that the left hand is working in your life, but God is doing something if you allow him to shape you and and doing something if you allow him to move on you. I know you feel like God has been a vengeful God and God has maybe paid some consequences back. No, no, no. God's got us in the palm of his hand. >> No matter how of the left hand we see, >> God is moving. There is a day you feel like God's doing a work on the left, then God's hiding himself on the right. Your life is falling apart. You wonder where in the world is God? People are telling you to quit. Your closest friends are telling you to give up. And God says to Job, pay attention to the wording of God. This is coming to the end of Job's story. God says to Job, you can't do anything yourself to get out of this. He says, "Then I will also confess unto thee," Job 40:14 that thee that thy own right hand can save thee. What he is saying, and you read this whole scripture, what God is saying to Job is he's saying the best work you can do cannot get you out of this. You on your own power, he's he's proving to Job how much power he don't have. And then he goes in to tell Job how much power God has. It's amazing that we serve that type of God. I've come to tell us tonight, you can't do anything on your own. The best work you can do cannot get you out of tragedy. It cannot get you out of Satan fighting your family. The best work on your right hand doesn't amount to anything. But let God's right hand begin to work. Let God's right hand, we recognize without God, we are nothing. In my weakness, he is strong. When I'm at my lowest, God's working because his right hand is working. His right hand is moving. But to tell somebody by faith, >> don't know when he'll move on you. But the best thing we can do in times of tragedy and times where we feel like the left hand is working, God's left hand is working in our life, is to recognize that our right hand can do nothing. We don't have the power to change our families. We don't have the power to have blessings come back to our lives. We don't have the power to to get in good graces with God or anything like that. We can't do anything God says to Job with your own right hand. But let God's right hand begin to work. And the Lord turned the captivity of Job in Job 42 when he prayed for his friends. Also, the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. I've come to tell somebody tonight, I know there's storms in your life. There's storms in Job's life. We rec sometimes we think we're in the left hand of God. But the good thing about a storm, it cannot last forever. That the winds cannot last forever. The storms when it rains judgment on you and your family, you feel like you're in the left hand of God. It cannot last forever. But there's going to be a moment when God reveals his right hand in our life. And when God's right hand is revealed, everything, every captivity that Job had, every issue that he had will be turned when God's right hand begins to move. >> The reason Job couldn't could make it through is because God told him, "Your right hand, you can do nothing. There's no power. The best you can give, you cannot get out of this." And David said sort of the same thing. He says Psalm 16:8, our opening portion of scripture, I have set the Lord always before me. He is at my right hand. David set God in the most powerful position in his life. David with all of his flaws, if you if you and I I I love this point because if you put the mistakes that Saul made compared to the the mistakes that David made, and it's kind of like one of those things they do, if we're going to mention sports, brother Reagan, we'll talk about sports. They do, you know, who deserves the top seed and they give the records of of each how many opponents they've given. But they take out the name. They take out the college name. They say, "Who's the best?" We did that with David and Saul and we listed each mistake of each man. You would point to Saul every day and say, "Dad, that's the better man. That's the better man." But something David had that Saul didn't. David was willing to put God at the source of his life. David was willing to put God at the very first. I know he had mistakes. I know he was an adulterer. I know he was a murderer. But let God be placed at the most important place in your life. And something good begins to happen. The best thing you can do tonight is recognize you can't get out on your own. You can't fix your problems. You can't fix your family. But let you set God at the most important place. He is at my right hand. And when he's at my right hand, he begins to move. >> I have set the Lord always before me because he is at my right hand. >> And when he's at my right hand, I shall not be moved. >> Nothing that could shake me when I make a decision to place God at the most important place in my life. the most the most important place, my right hand, my right side, the best I can give, the best I got, the best on my own ability. I'm going to replace what I can do like Job did. And I'm going to place God at the center of my life, the right side, the best of God. Without him, we know this. Without God, we are nothing. We don't have it all together. >> We don't have any power. We don't have any authority. And the Bible says we will face a battle that we need God to move in. It says we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. We've got to have something at our right side that will fight for us. We've got to have something at the most important place in our life that has authority, that has power. And I've come to tell us something simple tonight, but it's still good. You need to be baptized in Jesus' name because that's a place of authority. That's a place of power. That name that's above every name that at the name of Jesus, every knee is going to bow of things in heaven, things in earth, and things under the earth. When you fight those spiritual battles, you have to have a name to fight against. You got to have a name that will fight fight with you. You got to you got to have something to fight in that right in that right that right hand. >> Well, when you give God your best like David, >> you give him your right hand. >> David puts it this way in our opening text. I'm paraphrasing, but it's still what he's saying. When I put God at my right hand, God puts me in his right hand. >> Some things we face, we we just might realize, you know, we're not giving God the very best of our life. And God's saying, "All right, you're not putting me in the right hand. I won't put you in the right hand. Let's see how how let's see how how how your family does without me. Let's see how you're let's see how everything goes in your life when I'm not the most important position in your life." But David, if I put God at my right hand, I will not be moved. And when I put him at my right hand, the best position in my life, the most important position in my life, then God puts me at his right hand. Thou will show verse six uh chapter 16 verse 11. Thou will show me the path of life. In thy presence is fullness of joy and at thy right hand there are pleasures forever more. When I put God at the very center of my life, God at the most important place, my right hand. And I'm gonna say right hand tonight probably a million times. It's in the scripture probably a million times. So you just heard the Bible tonight. How about that? When I place God at the most important position in my life, my right hand, then I get into God's right hand. And at his right hand, there are pleasures forever more. When I'm in the right hand of God, Luke 1:37 says it like this. For with God, nothing shall be impossible. Everything is impossible when you're doing it on your own. But when I'm in God's right hand, nothing shall be impossible. Everything hasn't been good in your life. And and I want to tell us tonight, try giving God the best you have. Give him your right hand. Give him your priorities. Give him the highest seat in your life and watch God show you the pleasures forever more. And that's the best sermon I got tonight. If everything's not going good, everything's falling apart, check your right hand. Is there things of this world? Is there priorities? Is there entertainment that you'd rather been doing than coming to the house of God? Is it golf clubs? Is it fishing boats? Is it a deer stand? Because I'll tell you, nothing will go good if that's in your right hand. >> But let a little widow woman get God in his right in her right hand. She don't have anything to offer. She can barely make it to church. But let her give God her absolute awe and watch her have the pleasures of God forever more to take place. What is in your right hand? Isaiah 41 and10. Fear thou not, for I am with thee. Be not dismayed, for I am thy God. That sounds good. I'll strengthen thee. Yay. I will help thee, and I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. But yes, brother Nolan, just don't understand. We hear this as preachers. You know, that was a cute sermon. That was a cute sermon for everybody, but you just don't know. Just don't just don't know Satan. You know, you that that's really cute sermon. You just don't know what I've been going through. You don't know what Satan has been fighting me with. You don't know. I I I've not seen the right hand of God. We We hear all the things when you begin to preach about God's going to bring you out. We hear all the things afterwards. Well, that's a good sermon for somebody else. This is a good sermon for you. All right. This is a good sermon for you because God wants everybody in his right hand. God is a good father. He doesn't just want you to go through life being miserable. It's not that's not I don't know about you, but when I when I was a when I was a kid, my my dad now, unless I was just being a a spoiled brat, and and maybe that was oftentimes I you know, he was a good father. He was a good father. He didn't want me to be sad. He didn't want me to just be in the mubs all the time. He wanted me to have a good time in life. And we serve that same type of father. It's not God's will that you're sad all the time. It's not God's will that you constantly battle. Does God love me? Does he loves me? He loves me now. That's not the type of God that we serve. God wants you to have pleasures forever more. He wants you to have joy and unspeakable joy. He wants you to have happiness. He says, "If you need something, just just run for it. Just worship. >> Just worship. That's the type of God that we serve. And we hear this all the time. You You just You don't know. I I feel like I'm getting Satan's right hand. I I feel like I'm in the left hand of God, but then Satan's right hand is really doing his best work. Well, number one, you're being defeated by a defeated foe. It's just number one. That's it's a good thing to start. >> You're being defeated by someone who is defeated. But here's the right hand of Satan. If you want to know truly what the right hand of Satan looks like, here's the best he's got. Did I say before we go into the scripture, did I say that the right hand is the best? >> Did I say that the right hand is the best? God's right hand is the best he's got for us. And that's where he wants us to be. Satan's right hand. Here's the best he's got. Psalms 144 and8. Whose mouth speaketh vanity and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood. The only thing that Satan has, the best he's got is lies upon lies. The best Satan's got, his right hand, the if you pull back the the thing and and this is the best plan, the best plan for destruction for you and your family. This is the best Satan's got. It's falsehoods upon falsehoods. It's lies upon lies. So, if he's telling you tonight you can't be forgiven, that's the best he's got. If he's telling you tonight that you cannot be healed, that's the best he's got. If you if he's convinced you that your family, your marriage cannot be restored, your ministry can't be restored, that's the best Satan's got. That's his right hand. And I know if he's telling me I can't be forgiven, all he can speak is lies. I know in the right hand of God, there is forgiveness. In the right hand of God, there is restoration. In the right hand of God, there is healing. That's all he's got is falsehoods, is lies upon lies. >> So just know when you hear Satan, >> all he could speak is lies. That's the best he's got. >> That's his right hand. And David, a man after God's own heart, God's right-hand man, if we could say, fell into these falsehoods himself. He fell into the belief of the right hand of Satan which was falsehoods. It was lies upon lies. Who was the enemy that that David was listening to? It was the enemy of himself. It was the enemy of himself. Psalms 77 and1 I cried unto God with my own voice, >> even unto God with my voice. and he gave his he gave ear unto me. In the day of my trouble, I sought the Lord. My sore ran in the night and ceased not. My soul refused to be comforted. This is a guy that killed a giant. And we're here just writing sad things about his life. Blows my mind. This is the man that's willing to grab a a bear by the beard. He's willing to grab him and kill him. And then we're here writing poems about himself. This is about how terrible life is. I refuse in the day of the trouble. I saw the Lord. My soul ran in the night and cease not. My soul refused to be comforted. I remembered God and was troubled. Wow. That's a great relationship you have with God. I remembered God and was troubled. I complained and my spirit was overwhelmed. ceil about praising God. But here he's he's thinking about how terrible his life is and that's the sea law that he wants to pause and reflect. >> That's the most awful thing that you could ever do. Yes, your life may not be as good as you want, but don't rest in it. Don't think about Don't sit there all the time and just think about it. My god, don't get on Facebook and connect yourself with people that are also miserable and y'all just y'all are sealing yourself and you just talk about their trouble and I'm talking, you know, we have that in common. Don't don't do that. Don't do that. Just the giant killer. See yourself. I don't know that's he I don't know if that's right, but just don't do it. Now hold my eyes waking. I'm so troubled. I'm so troubled that I cannot speak. Yeah, you you you were really troubled on that battlefield, D uh David, when you said, "Who defiles the name of the living God?" You Yeah, that's that makes a lot of sense. I have considered the days of old, the ancient uh the years of ancient times. I called to remembrance my song in the night. I will commune. He sounds like a country singer. Just everything's terrible. His dog left. His wife left him. Nothing that just believe all the falsehood. I commune with my own heart. Terrible idea. and my spirit made diligent search. Will the Lord cast off forever? >> Good God, David. How terrible is your life? Will the Lord leave me >> forever? And will he be favorable? No more. >> I would love to put this in Grock and see what type of song it makes us. Is his mercy clean, gone forever? Yeah, it was sure clean gone when you messed up with Basheba and you killed her husband. Yeah, it was sure gone. I guess the end. But his promises fell forever more. Hath God forgotten to be gracious? Have he in anger shut up his tender mercies? See, >> just rest in it. Rest in the miserableness of your life. Me just rest. Just think about all the time how how terrible your life is. How you feel like God's and that's how it's how Satan works. It's the falsehoods. You you begin to say things that are not true. You say, "God, has your mercies departed from me?" No. You've had your mer God's mercy in your life all your life, David. But somehow when you begin to think about how terrible your life is, how God's not fair, how you're in the left hand, you begin to believe the falsehood, the Satan's right hand, you be begin to just play that over and over and over and over and over. And I said, verse 10, this is my infirmity. This is mine. Falsehood upon f falsehood, lies upon lies. Some people will never see the right hand of God because you believe those lies in your mind. >> Because you've fallen into Satan's right hand when you fall into those lies. I'm going to say it again. You'll never see God's right hand because you've fallen into the right hand of Satan. Believing those lies that you will not be delivered. Believing those lies that your family will never be restored. Believing those lies that your children will never be used by God. Believing those lies that everybody's against you and nobody's for you. Every teacher is against your student. Every coach, you'll believe those lies upon this is my infirmity. >> And there is no cure to this infirmity. God does not have a cure for this infirmity because he's done so many things for you. God's like, "Hey, you're in the right hand of Satan. I I I I'm sure God could do something, but the only thing you can do, David, is look back at what I've already done for you. >> And that's exactly what David did. He says, "But I will remember >> the years of the right hand of the most high. I can be all in the mubs all I want. I could focus how bad everything. But when I remember the years of the right hand of the most high, when I remember the works of God, I will remember the wonders of old. I remember how he brought me out of a long way. I remember how God brought me out of sin. Somebody needs to just remember how good God's been to you. Remember the right hand that's been working. Remember, I know it's not good right now, David. But remember when God forgave you for Basheba. I know it's not been good, David, but remember when God gave you the courage to throw that rock at a giant's head and bring down God. Just remember, I will remember. Just remember, just go ahead and think for just a second. >> Think about how good God's been to you. Because if you can't think about what God's done for you, there's somebody wrong in this situation. It ain't God and it ain't the church. It's you. Remember, has God ever forgiven you? Everybody raise your hand if God's ever forgiven you? You've been in the right hand of God. Has God ever done something for you that you didn't have the power to do? You've been in the right hand of God. So, you got two decisions. You can you can just just waste yourself in all the miserablenesses of life, all the issues, all the doctor's reports, everything everything on that's being said, everything that's either true or not true about your life. more you can remember the years of the right hand of the most high God. And when I remember what God's done, I remember how God brought me out. I remember how God gave me a second and a third and a fourth chance. I just I just remember. I remember. And you see how things begin to change. I will remember the works of the Lord. David, you are the most bipolar dude in all of scripture. We've went from writing country songs, bestsellers that will will entertain everyone that their life is just as miserable as yours. And now we're going to write songs about the Lord. I will remember the works of the Lord. Surely I will remember the wonders of old. I will meditate. I will meditate also of all thy work. I know I've been meditating. I've been sealed with one another, with all the miserable people. But now I remember I will meditate also of all thy work and talk of all thy doings. You know what the healing that's going to happen in your mind is you when you begin to talk about what God has done. You can either focus on how miserable everything is in your life and how much you're in bondage and how much you're in addiction or you can talk about God has been good to me. Come on, let's talk to one another. God has been good to me. God's been merciful to me. God has moved in my life when I didn't deserve it. God has shaken me up. I know I could focus on everything bad in my life, but brother Thompson, I want to tell you, God's been good to us. >> I want to I want to tell somebody, God's been good to us. You'd be a fool not to recognize the goodness of God and the grace of God. Did you see that today? We had another church infiltrate our church. We had our Spanish church open up those doors. They were just waiting on us to get done because they had somebody to baptize. If that's not the goodness of God, if that's not the right hand of God, brother stood, I don't know what is. That's the goodness of it's the goodness of God. If you can't find something to talk about that God has done for your life, you will be in the first nine verses of David in this chapter. Everything's miserable. everything. I'm going to see law about all the troubles. But if you can find just one thing, if you can find just one thing that if it had not been for the Lord that was on my side, when I remember Sister John Phipe, how good God has been to me, my attitude begins to change. Everything, my spirits begin to lift because I recognize I've had Sister King the right hand of God move in my life. Amen. >> Sometimes you just got to remind yourself. That's what David, that's what Psalms means when it says David encouraged himself in the Lord. There's nobody around to encourage himself. He cut off all the negative people, all the people that were distressed, all the people that were indebted, all the miserable people just like David. But David just found himself. I'm going to encourage myself and the Lord. I know I'm in tough times, but I'm going to find something to rest on. We're going to find something to remember. >> I want to tell somebody tonight, things change when you recognize the right hand of God. The best way to get out of the Mlly Grubs, the negative Nellies, the grumpy grandpas, the Debbie Downers, the negative Nancy's, the sulking Sally, and the pessimistic Patties. Is to remind yourself how good God has been. Remind yourself how good God has been. If you're pessimistic, remind yourself how good God has been. If you're negative all the time, David, remind yourself when you had the courage to take that sling and shoot it at Goliath, remind yourself. Remind yourself. I've been a grumpy grandpa. I've been that guy. I've been that guy that nothing could go good. Nothing could go good. But then God just shows me how good he's been to me. >> I look tonight, I could focus on everything going bad in my life, but I look and Teddy Lee begins to run the aisles. I just recognize how good God has been. >> I recognize >> the best way to get out of the negative nies to recognize how good God has been. I remember the years of the right hand. You recognize you you you realize in this scripture David is in a moment that he looks back pastor and recognize the years that God has been good. Don't let your moment distract you from what God's done in done in your lifetime. Don't rec don't let one simple thing, one simple situation, one simple tragedy, one simple moment, one simple season make you forget the years upon years upon years where life was good, blessings were coming because if I could remember those moments, I'll get out of this moment. >> I recognize the years of the right hand. Can I remind somebody tonight the years of the right hand that we've been in the Most High's right hand? That was the most terrible statement I've ever made. Let me say it again. Can I remind somebody of the years of the right hand of the Most High >> because we have been in the right hand for a long time here at First Apostolic Church. >> Can I remind somebody? We're going to talk about the years of the right hand of the most high. Can I remind somebody the right hand of God was on this church and brought us through a miracle of this building. It's time we go back and recognize the right hand for just a moment. Can I remind somebody? I don't mean to embarrass anybody if I mention your name tonight, but I can I remind you of the Kenny Hurst that came to our church addicted to drugs. And he wouldn't mind telling you this. He was addicted to things of this world, things that have a captive. Hold. I want to remind somebody on who he who he was. Because now who he is is a powerful man of God that witnesses to people and shows them the way to their deliverance is through the waters of baptism. Brother Kenny, am I telling the truth? Do we recognize the years that we're in the right hand of the most high God? I want I want to tell us I want to remind us. I want to remind us again. I don't want to cause embarrassment to anybody and some of you are getting really nervous and you ought to be. Can I remind you the years of the right hand of God? >> Can I remind I don't know if he's here tonight, but I want to remind somebody about how God took Jason Triplet from a life full of drugs and restored him. And now he's a great husband. There he is right there. He don't mind telling you now he's a great husband is Sister Kim Triplet. One of the best teachers we got in this academy. Her husband is one of the best husbands and I've seen him be the best father to Jackson and to Hudson. I want to recognize tonight the years that we were in the right hand of God. I want to recognize how God has moved through the it's not always the left hand. It's not always judgment. It's not always divine justice. But if I want to tell you about the right hand of God that moved a few years ago in this church, this family named the Dunlaps and the Nicholls family that moved here from California because they were watching us online, not knowing that we were apostolic, just knowing there's something there's something funny about their doctrine, not even understanding the tr the the fullness of the word of God that we preach. But all they did, pastor, was feel something different. And now they went from worshiping from California to now moving here. And now they were baptized in Jesus name. Now they are filled with the Holy Ghost. And now they believe in one God and his name being Jesus. And now their kids are being used in the house of God. I want to tell somebody, Brother Nichols, God's been good to us. God's been good to us. I recognize his right hand every single day. It's not always bad things, but every time I look at you, Sister Nichols, I see the right hand of God. I see the right hand of God. Can I remind somebody tonight that you're in the left hand of God through times of sickness? I want to remind you that you're in the right hand of God. When we look at Todd Malone, who who laid in a coma for six weeks in a hospital room and now they had to revive him twice. But brother Todd Malone, are you in the building? I want people to see the right hand of God. Would you stand, my brother? If you don't know, this is the right hand of God. 6 weeks he was in a coma and two times he had to be revived, but here's the right hand. If you're going through something tonight, here is the right hand of God. It's made manifest. If you need the revelation of who Jesus is, there it is in the right hand of God. The nickels and the nun lefts. Can I remind somebody about the right hand of God? How he saved Sister Dorothy Davis from a fatal car wreck. And if that wasn't enough, in the same hospital room that Sister Dorothy Davis was laying there and they were they were fearful for her life, my grandfather my grandfather Tommy Maynard was filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost in a hospital room. If that's not the right hand of God, >> I don't know what is. If that's not the right hand of God, can I remind somebody tonight of the right hand of God? When Sister Kirby was not only healed of cancer once, but healed of cancer twice. That's the right hand of God. >> Y'all gonna have to give me a second because I'm a little out of breath because the right hand of God is that cool. >> Can I tell you about the right hand of God with a Kirby walking in this church blind? And then the next service he looks at me. I was so fearful for my life being late for music practice facing the left hand of justice and vengeance from our music director. So happens to be my sister. I was fearful. I'm just kidding. She was the best sister that loved Oh, I can't say that. She loved me the most out of her and Lauren. So, I love her to death. All right. Can I remind you about the right hand? I came into Wednesday night church. Didn't have my tie tied yet. Come running in the building. It was in the gym. I came running trying to duck from the left hand of Fallen Ericson. And then, Brother Kirby looks at me. Nobody around him. Sister Sister Nicholson said, "Nolan, come here. Brother Kirby, you got to understand I'm getting deducted my pay. Every minute I'm late is an hour I get deducted and I make minimum wage. So, Brother Kirby, these next few minutes better be of utmost importance. All right, Brother Kirby looked at me. He says, Nolan, your dad wouldn't be happy if you don't tie that tie before service. What are you talking about, Brother Kirby? Says, I could see that your tie is not tied yet. Lord, I know I told that story a bunch. I really don't care. I want to remind somebody the right hand of God that has moved over and over and over. Remind yourself. Go ahead and encourage yourself for a moment. Sister Gloria Franklin, the the right hand of God is where we want to be. Someone who started king. The right hand of God will help us. And we recognize, we recognize, we recognize. I want to tell you the best part of that story, everybody. The best part of that story, brother Kirby, is God not only knew what he need, but he knew when he needed you. He knew when he needed it. He He knew that Sister Kirby with God's master plan. He knew that Sister Kirby was a wonderful caretaker in the midst of sickness, the midst of disease, she was a wonderful caretaker for Brother Kirby. But God knew when brother K sister Kirby's last breath would be taken on this earth. And so the right hand of God intervened >> and said, "Brother Kirby, you're going to need this healing. You're going to need the healing and you're going to need it right now." And just a few months from that moment that Brother Kirby was in that was in that altar rejoicing of the Lord that God healed him of blindness. Few months from that moment, Sister Kirby's casket was rolling down the middle aisle back in the gymnasium. I know that's that's a really damper to a miraculous story, but it's really not. God knows what you need and he knows when you need it. Most importantly, that's the right hand of God. You might be wondering, when is my healing coming? When's my prodal coming home? When when am I going to see the right hand of God? I'm going to tell you, the right hand of God is going to show up exactly when you need it. >> It's the right hand. It's the right hand. Or can I remind somebody I said this morning about Amber Buchanan was paralyzed from her chest down. Yet this morning, she was picking one foot up and putting one foot down just like this, worshiping God. That's the right hand. If I've ever seen the right hand of God, I want to remind somebody the right hand, the years of the right hand of the almighty, the almighty God. The sad thing is, and I don't mean to get on a little soap box. I don't have much time to preach. Sad thing is is a woman that needs healing in her body is doing more than some people that don't want to worship God and have extreme problem with that because you will find yourself in the left hand of God by just resting in all the bad things in your life. But yet a woman that has every reason to believe that she is in the left hand of God with the justice and the vengeance of God, but somehow she believes if I could just worship him. I know I feel like I'm in the left hand with being paralyzed from my chest down. If I could just worship him and remember how good God's been to me. Remember that I should have lost my life in that car wreck. I should have lost my life, but yet I'm still able to give God worship and I'm still able to lift my voice. I'm still able to pick up my foot and put it back down. That's the right hand. That's the right hand of God. Be so kind to stand with me. That's the right hand. Can I remind somebody about Brother Ben Lee? You you you know his worship. You saw his boy run tonight. You saw his boy run tonight. You know why he runs often? He runs fast. >> Let me tell you, his daddy was a worshipper pastor. That's correct. Let me tell you about Ben Lee. I didn't know this till the other day. I'm going to remind somebody about him that he had a car wreck and when the EMT showed up, brother Benley, if I tell a lie, you you speak up. All right? I don't want the left hand of God. You you speak up. The EMT showed up and pronounced him dead. >> Did not know that. Am I telling the truth? Pronounced him dead. >> Does he look dead to you? >> That's the right hand of God. That's the right hand of God. That's God's power. They say, "No, he just he he what he says is,"I remember being in a car. I remember being in a wreck. And I remember coming to the hospital, not even knowing that the doctors pronounced him dead and not even realizing that the right hand of God came into his life and resurrected him." I want to tell somebody about the right hand, >> the right hand >> of God. >> We could go through the choir. And now it's getting real nervous. I want to remind you how God took liars, cheaters, getting real nervous now. Adulterers, fornicators, >> and restored them. >> That's the right hand of God. >> Oh, if you're not clapping, it such were some of you. When you were washed, you were sanctified. That's the right hand. God's moving. God's restoring. I'm not going to be in the mubs. I'm not going to be a grumpy grandpa, a negative Nancy. I'm not going to be a pessimistic Sally. I'm going to be a person that recognizes >> recognizes the right hand. >> We've all got things tonight. We could say >> right hand of God has moved. I know some of you don't feel like you're in the right head. Mama, just remember the years. Don't let a moment Don't let a moment take away from the years being in the right hand of God. Felt like God gave me this in the prayer room tonight. This is how we're going to end. Zechariah 3 and verse number one. I didn't give this to the people on the screen, so if you just follow me. Zechariah 3 and verse number one. He showed me Joshua the high priest. Spiritual Joshua standing before the angel of the Lord standing right. Look at that. Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord and Satan standing at his right side to resist him. The Lord said unto Satan, "The Lord rebuke thee, oh Satan. Even the Lord hath chosen Jerusalem, rebuke thee. It is not this a brand plucked out of the fire." Often times we find Satan at our right hand at the most important position in our life. Maybe it's your health, maybe it's your children, maybe it's your family, it's your marriage. You find Satan. And when Satan's in the right side, the Lord says, "Satan, I rebuke thee." Luke 22 and verse 31 and 32. And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan have desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fell not, and that when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren." Satan, Peter, I'm I'm praying for you. We know the right hand is a place of power. It's a place of authority. It's a place we know that Jesus is seated on the right hand of the father. That's that's not a literal place as we could see throughout all the scriptures we've talked about tonight. But that's a pl it's a position of power. In Romans 8:34 says, "Who is that that condemnth? Is the is is it Christ that died? Yay, rather that is risen again. Who is even at the right hand of God? who also maketh intercession for us. Give you a scripture tonight of Jesus being at the right hand. And he's not that's a place of power. It's a place of authority, but he's busy at the right hand. He's e interceding for somebody. He's interceding for somebody that has Satan at their right hand. He's interceding. He He's praying for you. If I could tell you that weary mind tonight Jesus is praying for you at the place of power. He's interceding for you and your family. That makes me feel good tonight that Jesus is not just up there getting worship. No, he's busy. He's praying for you. He's praying for you. He's praying that you're making. Sister Gloria Franken, he's praying for you. He's praying for you tonight. That God will be with you. He's praying for you. If you have a prodical son or daughter, let me tell you, he's a good father. He's praying for you. He's interceding for your family. He's interceding. I'm glad to know God's not b not just being worshiped, but he's busy interceding for us at the right hand of the father. My last scripture that I want to tell this is so important tonight. Luke 6 and 6 came to pass also on the sa another Sabbath that he entered is speaking of Jesus. He entered into the synagogue taught. There was a man whose right hand was withered was withered. Didn't function like his left hand. And we see that the Bible says when he was made whole that it was made whole just like the other hand. His right hand was withered. And Jesus, he battles with the Pharisees. That's not important this story. And looking around about them all, he said unto the man, "Stretch forth thine hand." What hand was it? >> It's the right hand. >> He said, "Just stretch forth. >> Show me your problems. Show me all your issues. Show me the problems in your marriage. I don't want you to hide it. I don't want you and your wife, your spouse to try to hide your issues. No, no, no. Be a good idea to come up to the front and stretch forth your right hand. >> Because when you stretch forth your right hand, God will restore that place in your life. And he did so and his hand was restored whole as the other. I want to tell somebody tonight, the right hand of God is in this place. I felt healing virtue in the prayer room. I felt it while we worshiped tonight. I've tried to I've tried to remind somebody about the right hand of God through all the years that we were in that right hand. But I want you to recognize tonight that you have to stretch forth your hand. You got to stretch forth all your issues, all your diseases. You got to stretch forth that withered hand. You you you got to stretch forth all the issues in your family. I know it might be uncomfortable to that man that's tried to hide that issue all of his life. But if Jesus is going to touch it tonight with his right hand, you're going to have to stretch forth your right hand and say, "Jesus, I trust you in my issues. I trust you with the things that I've hidden. God, I I trust you with the things that I've tried to hide from everybody. Everybody didn't know I had that issue. But if I want to see the right hand of God, I've got to stretch forth that withered hand." Come on. These altars are open for someone tonight. I know we're not shouting. I know we're not rejoicing. I know we're not praising. We're not shout beating right now. We're not dancing to a beat of a drum. But we're stretching forth that withered hand. We're stretching forth that issue in our life. And when you stretch forth that withered hand, the right hand of God, you will not find the left hand. You will find the right hand reaching down to your life. You will find the right hand of God changing you and forming you and shaping you and and restoring you. You will find the right hand Come on. That's it. That sound you hear is a right hand being stretched. That that that that sound from a lady or a man today is that right hand being stretched forth. Come on. Stretch forth that right hand. Come on. Get out of the belly grubs, mama. Come on. Get out. Get out of all the the negative things that life is unfair. Get out of that. Remind yourself of the years that you were in the right hand of the most high. Come on. That's it. Come on. That's it. Come on. Come on, stretch forth that hand. Stretch forth that issue. Come on, stretch forth. I know you may have never been to an apostolic church before, but we're going to be honest with God right now. We're going to stretch forth that right hand. Come on, stretch forth. Take just a second right here. Come on. That's it. Come on. That's it. Stretch forth your hand. Stretch forth your issue. Stretch forth. Come on.
