Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
A generation that knew not the Lord
- Preaching in the church's vision series, he reads his text: Joshua let the people go to their inheritance, and that generation served the Lord all the days of Joshua and of the elders who had seen his great works.
- After Joshua died at 110 and that whole generation was gathered to their fathers, there arose another generation that knew not the Lord nor the works he had done for Israel.
- Two verses later that generation did evil in the sight of the Lord and forsook the God of their fathers who brought them out of Egypt, followed the gods of the peoples around them, and bowed themselves down to them.
- His burden is simple: every generation must know God for itself — no one can live on a parent's or grandparent's experience — and he aims the message at his unborn daughter Magnolia and her generation.
Scriptures: Judges 2:6-10; Judges 2:11-12
You have to have your own stories
- He tells of receiving the Holy Ghost at six years old in a chapel service at the church's academy, an experience no one could hand him.
- He tells of Brother Kirby, blind and prayed for in a Sunday prayer line, who by Wednesday could see — the kind of story a generation must be able to call its own.
- Children cannot just hear about God at church; they must encounter him themselves, because they are always one generation from not knowing him.
Autopsy of a dead church: Sardis
- He opens an autopsy of a dead church with Sardis: you have a name that you live, but you are dead.
- The charge to Sardis is to be watchful, strengthen the things that remain and are ready to die, remember how they received and heard, hold fast, and repent.
- Even in Sardis a few names had not defiled their garments and would walk with him in white — a remnant can stay alive inside a dying church.
Scriptures: Revelation 3:1-4
The Dead Sea sickness and living off yesterday
- The first sickness is a Dead Sea condition — always taking in and never giving out — pictured in the rich young ruler who came to Jesus and went away sorrowful.
- The second sickness is living off a past generation's glory: God told Joshua, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee; I will not leave thee nor forsake thee — a promise to be lived now, not reminisced over.
- Jesus promised that believers would do the works he did and greater works; this generation is called to its own move of God, not its fathers' highlights.
Scriptures: Joshua 1:5
A boy at the front and a taped-up preacher
- He calls a young boy to the front and tells him how his papa, Pastor Carpenter, preaching years ago and needing a devil for an illustration, duct-taped the preacher himself — then a boy — to a chair to show a devil bound and helpless.
- The point lands on the children watching: this generation will have its own stories of what God did in front of them, not only stories told to them.
Slow erosion: the house left in ruins
- The third sickness is slow erosion: he tells how in Ezra's day the people celebrated and began the temple foundation, then the work on God's house quietly diminished while their own houses were kept up.
- God confronts a people who said the time had not come to build, while they lived in finished houses and his house lay waste: consider your ways.
- They had sown much and brought in little, eaten without enough and drunk without being filled, because God blew on their increase — his house was waste while every man ran to his own house.
Scriptures: Haggai 1:2-9
Not knowing how to move the presence of God
- The final sickness is not knowing how to move God's presence: David's first order of business as king was to bring back the ark, which had not been inquired of in all the days of Saul.
- The ark was set on a new cart — the Philistines' way — and when the oxen shook it, one of Abinadab's sons put out his hand to steady it and died beside the ark, though the ark had sat in his father's house for years.
- God never intended his presence to ride a cart; he wants to be carried on the shoulders of his people, and familiarity with his presence is no substitute for knowing how to move it.
Scriptures: 1 Chronicles 13:3; 2 Samuel 6:6-7; 2 Samuel 6:3
Families at the altar: learn to move him
- He calls parents to bring their children to the altar and pray aloud over them — fathers first, refusing to leave the moving of God's presence to their wives — then mothers, then the children themselves.
- The children are called onto the platform and led to lift their own voices in prayer, learning to move the presence of God for themselves.
- He prays his daughter will not have to rely on the prayers of her grandparents: as a father, he wants to be able to move God's presence himself.

hallelujah hallelujah it is good to be in the house of the Lord this evening and uh feel the presence of God here this this evening and I I tell you this I never want to take it for granted I never want to take for granted the moving or for feeling God's presence and he has surely been in here all all day long I do want to say it is so good to see uh my dear sweet Uncle John Fowler here tonight it's always good to see him would you give my uncle I know he's my cousin but a little bit older than me so I call my uncle so I know he doesn't take that by offence I promise uh it's good to see him and him and uh sister uh fer as well sister Sonia fer a wonderful family in this church and we give them honor tonight is my uh it's my job and obligation uh to preach a vision series message uh about generation to generation uh that is my goal tonight we've heard uh Pastor Carpenter started a few weeks ago with a God first message how many of you remember that wonderful message about God first how many of you ate your Little Debbie cookie all right we're doing good we're doing real good and uh there was a picture I wish I had it but [name redacted] as soon as the service was over he had one on the front row it was gone all right didn't pray over it or anything it was gone and uh he did not pray first that is for sure but then Pastor Eric and Pastor Hammond delivered their Vision series uh last Sunday night and how many of you enjoyed that as well I know God spoke God spoke to us through that you can give them a big hand they deserve that they deserve that brother if I could just get a little bit of this mic and this monitor that'd be it would be awesome but tonight I I want to to preach about generation to generation I'll give you my title in just a few moments and and my title really hits home to me um and you'll see here why in just a moment I know the the time but I do understand that you have been in your house with your kids all week long meaning the longer I preach the more of a break you get so all right there it is all right some of you are not your some of you are when they when they announced school's not going back tomorrow some of you started crying all right I um um we were had we had [name redacted]'s birthday celebration yesterday and uh talking brother Elijah Mayo I said man it looks like we might not go School uh Monday either you know the kids are all excited and Elijah but Elijah says Dear God please have school on Monday and uh so so I feel you and um the longer I preach tonight more of a break you give yet so uh there that is Judges chapter 2 and verse number six Judges chapter 2 and verse number six a very a well-known passage about something that has passed down from generation to generation it says and when Joshua had let the people go the children of Israel went unto every man unto his inheritance to possess the land and the people serve the Lord all the days of Joshua as long as Joshua lived God's people would choose to serve him and all the days of the elders that out all all the days of the elders that outlive Joshua they all served him who had seen all the great works of the Lord that he did for Israel so we've got these two generations thus far that we see here in the scripture talks about Joshua talks about the elders that outlived Joshua that they saw the hand of God and what God would do through the ministry of Joshua but of course Joshua the son of none cannot live forever he's a servant of the Lord he died being 110 years old and they buried him in the border of his inheritance and you can take your best get guess at that word in the Mount of Ephraim on the north side of the hill of gash here is what I feel the burden of the Lord here tonight is in this next verse and also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers and there arose another generation after them which knew not the Lord they didn't know God in a personal way but yet they didn't even know the Works which he have done for Israel just a short while after the the death of Joshua we see this generation that did not know God I want to preach to you something very personal to me I preach with the help of the Lord for just a few moments with my wife being pregnant with our first child our baby girl that's on the way I want to preach my message to Magnolia my message to Magnolia there's a Joshua and there's a generation that saw God do what God has done for Joshua and all those people but then there arose another generation that did not even know God and didn't even know the works that he had done for Israel and so I want to preach to my daughter's generation I want to preach that this church is going to be alive this church is going to be alive this is not a dead church but this is a church that's going to be alive for Generation to generation I want to preach that the fire is still going to fall that the anointing is still going to flow and I want to be a part of it would you put your Bibles down would you ask God to help us for just a few moments you lift your voice God I thank you today I thank you for your goodness Your Grace your mercy God I thank you for what you're doing God I thank you for God what you've done in the generation of Joshua and I thank you for what you've showed us thus far but God let there never be a generation that doesn't know you in such a real way God let there never be a generation God that God just doesn't know what you did for us Lord let that never be said of faac of marille because I want this church to know this is a church from generation to generation we believe that you are the god of Moses we believe that you are the god of Joshua and you are the god of generations to follow we believe in you and we believe in your power in jesus' name we pray Can someone say in Jesus name Jesus you may be seated in the house of the Lord that me that title may not mean anything to you but it definitely means something to me I hope this message is watched 18 and a half years from now by my 18-year-old daughter Magnolia Ray Carpenter tell you Magnolia your mom is 23 and a half weeks pregnant and somehow your mother each day she becomes more pregnant just somehow gets more prettier each day oh that was a good one Dad it's a good one I hope that God you look like your mother that would be a blessing from the Lord but I want to preach did somebody just say Amen that was that was Roger clav I I recognize Lord God I'm sure 18 years from now you're G to know who Roger clav is I want to preach to to you Magnolia I want to preach to your generation Joshua was a part of one of the greatest Generations that we see in scripture he's a generation that we we see enter into the promised land and we see God do marvelous Works Joshua served the Lord and was fully committed to him but we see just two short Generations from there that that generation did not even know God did not know the works that God had done from for Israel Joshua was one of the ones who would see the miraculous Dev side of the Jordan River but just two simple Generations later they wouldn't even know who god Jehovah is Joshua was the man that instructed the children of Israel to walk around the city six times and on that seventh day they would walk around at seven times on that seventh day they would walk around at seven times and God would miraculously Bring Down the Walls of the city of Jericho but two generations from that moment that generation would not know who God even is let alone his power Joshua was the one who had the audacity to look to the sky and when there was a little bit of work that needed to be done and command the son to be still the Bible says about that day that there was no day like it before or after it that the Lord hearken unto the voice of a man for the Lord fought for Israel right and just two generations after that moment we have a group of people who did not know the Lord we have a group of people in verse number 10 which knew not the Lord nor yet The Works which he had done for Israel not long after Joshua died just two verses later and the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord and served balum this Vision message tonight is is very simple it may not mean anything to you but it definitely means something to me my message to Magnolia is so simple to her generation that you have to know God for yourself that's right you have to know God for your s it cannot be a secondhand experience because that generation or a generation following they will die and they will not know the Lord you have to have a burning bush experience for yourself I might be preaching to my daughter or I might even be preaching to myself tonight that we cannot rely off of previous generation experiences with God I can't I'm thankful for it I because I know that he did it for them I know he can do it for me but I I just can't live in stories but I want to live in something that I know that God has done something for me because I'm able to tell you I I remember the day when I it had not been for the Lord who was on my side I remember the day that I didn't think I was going to make it but God came through I want those stories for myself I want those stories for my generation and Magnolia you've got to have stories for your generation that's right because the sad fact that should humble us all about our children and children yet to be born is the fact we are just two generations away from them not knowing god or knowing the mighty power of God or two generations away immediately when a generation does not know God something terrible begins to take place they will fall into the flow of following their culture it's a scriptural principle Joshua 2:12 this is right after two verses later that Joshua dies and they bury him the elders they the elders that outlived Joshua we know that they had the stories of what God they saw they they heard the stories from Joshua maybe some of them saw the stories for themselves but then we get to this next generation and the Lord forsook and and they forsook the Lord God their fathers which brought them out of the land of Egypt and followed other gods of the Gods of the people that were around them and bowed themselves and provoked the Lord to anger it was a popular thing to do to serve balum when a generation does not know God they will simply fall into the Trap of everybody's doing it everybody's worshiping this way everyone just goes and worship balum when it's convenient everyone looks looks this sort of way these worshippers of Bale or balum so why can't we do what everybody else is doing it's so sad to think that their grandfathers and their grandmothers with a generation that saw the walls come down saw the power of God saw the day where the day lasted a little bit longer than every other day because the Lord was fighting with them and the Lord was fighting their battles but two generations later they didn't even know the God who did all that it's a sad sad story that we see here they fell into the Trap of not knowing god but worshiping the gods that were around them worshiping ba balum is easy because the flow goes to the path of least resistance because worshiping balum doesn't require anything from you worshiping God God requires everything from you because he's a jealous God and if he's not Lord of all then and we know that he's not Lord at all so I I want to preach to someone today that there can never be a generation that simply goes off of secondhand experiences from God there cannot be a generation that hey I I I could tell you the story when my mom and dad how they were entrapped in sin and God brought them out I I'm glad for that but if we're not careful there will be a generation that God has to go deliver them out of Egypt once again and I don't want that to be said of my generation I don't want to be said of Magnolia's generation I wish that everybody in this place would just know and realize that we have to have an experience for ourselves we've got to have a move of God for ourselves I'm so thankful about the stories that happened years to go but it's not going to be secondhand experience for me I'm going to be a witness that if it had not been for God he would have brought me out I've got to have an experience for myself the generation after Joshua knew the stories and could even quote them the generation after Joshua could just tell you about the days when God would move but then that generation after didn't know God and didn't know the works of God the generation after Joshua could tell you about the days in church when the Holy Ghost would begin to fall The Generation after Joshua could tell you about the times where somebody would start leaping over a Pew and and then you would be preaching and somebody would just yell out Hallelujah they could tell you the stories about that they could tell you the stories about when the choir would begin to sing real good on the Sunday night it'd be hot and heavy they'd be storming the gates of hell and somebody would come out of the the choir LOF and would begin to run those aisles and they would begin to tell the stories but they didn't have the stories for themselves the generation after Joshua would would would begin to tell you about the times where they remember that the tongues of interpretation used to happen but that was simply for Joshua's generation so my question is tonight is how do I keep Magnolia's generation from not knowing god and his wonderful works every generation the message is so simple tonight every generation has to have their own experience every generation has to have their own stories it's not good enough to tell someone that my mom and dad had a power of God that hit their life because it might be you that tells the story but one day another generation will come and we'll say I don't know that God I I I don't know what God has done I I just I'm just the person that my mom and dad used to go to church and my grandparents they used to be really involved in church but I I don't really see the point of power of the Holy Ghost if we could put it in our day but I want every generation to have their own experience to know that God is real and that God is strong and that God is mighty I want every generation to be able to tell the story The Night They got the Holy Ghost when they come to the Altar and they begin to lift their hands and lift their voices I'm so thankful that my dad when he received the Holy Ghost the B he says that it hit him about his ankles and it hit him about his knees and it hit him about his waist and then the next thing you know he receiv received the gift of Holy Ghost with the evidence of speak I'm thankful for that I'm thankful for the times that it it didn't just stop with my father it went with me and now it took me a little longer to receive the Holy Ghost of my father all right it did it took Sunday after Sunday after Sunday and uh I remember Pastor Eric I used to ask you right after service I say how close was I you tell me this remember one time we had a u a u um cake March after church and I I had slept during the whole I was I was like 16 no I was like four or five and I slept through the whole service and I woke up for the altar call well might as well go pray for the Holy Ghost you know I had crud in my eyes I'm yawning huh I asked for ER hey how close was I now he said man you're this close he he's telling he was telling me something then there was a moment in a chapel service where I felt the Holy Ghost I believe with a Carver Pastor Carver was preaching our our our Chapel service that day I felt the Holy Ghost like I never felt it I heard the story about my dad receiving the Holy Ghost but it had not yet happened to me but I'm so thankful at that Chapel service this six-year-old boy lifted up his hands and the power of God filled me I begin to speak in a Heavenly language as the spirit of God gave the utterance every single generation has to have the O their own experience every single generation has to have the moment where they feel the power of God and I know it happens from generation but I want it for I want it for myself dad I've heard you tell stories your papa Magnolia has told stories about how he had a busted eardrum one night and the pain would would be so great that he would have to have a a cloth that a hot towel that they would put in in over a stove and boiling water and ring it out and put it on his ear to try to soothe him but then Magnolia your papa one time got a healing from God that's a person experience from him and let me tell you this I felt that Magnolia I felt that that I had to have a story for myself and I tell you many years ago from this maybe six seven years ago there was a man named brother Kirby brother Kirby was a person that blindness has struck his eyes and I heard that the the preaching that the God is the same yesterday today and forever more let me tell you my story Magnolia one Sunday night there was a prayer line and brother Cur Kirby was there and it was like everybody was rushing the altar going through and I noticed but the Kirby was back there no one to lead him through the prayer line I seen it with my own two eyes and so what I did I grabbed brother Jacob Sullivan I said go with me all right I wasn't going back there by myself all right if I was wrong it was going to be both of us all right so I took him I took him I said let's go get brother Kirby Magnolia I walked back there with brother Kirby me and brother Sullivan I said brother Kirby would you like to go through the line he said I was waiting for somebody come get me and take me through the line so we come down it was it was back where you play basketball and volleyball and I hope we have a new gym 18 years from now but it was around the other the old gym that you used to play in when you were a little little girl and uh we we we were having Church in there and the Sunday night the spirit of the Lord broke out and and there was a prayer line and and brother Kirby came we went and got him and we took him through and Magnolia if I've ever felt the power of God it was in that moment I I thought really I was going to look back as as he had one hand on my shoulder and one hand on brother Sullivan's shoulder Magnolia I thought I was going to get to the end of the line and look back that brother Kirby was healed of blindness I believed it with all my heart when we got to the end and I look back and to my surprise he said brother noan would you leave me back to my seat Magnolia I can't really if I'm honest with you not that I doubted God but I I I've always wondered I've heard the stories but I've never seen it for myself I've heard the stories of how God healed and how God delivered but I've never seen it for myself brother Weatherly so Magnolia Monday and Tuesday went by and Wednesday went by we went to church Wednesday night we went to church and in 18 years on Wednesday night we're still going to be going to church Wednesday night that's one of the most important Services of the week is Wednesday night it's important now it was important 40 years ago in Magnolia honey get to church if it's Wednesday night if you're watching this on Wednesday night you better curl your hair put your dress on and get to church cuz it's w it's Wednesday night that was free Wednesday night now hopefully 18 years your dad's gotten better about this Magnolia but he walked in late for music practice amen it's gotten better I know I'm prophesying I come in late for music practice my tie was not tied yet I come in running at the front I ran across the altar hoping that your aunt Fallon wouldn't dock my pay for being late true story you ask me about that one later all right and brother Kirby no one around him Magnolia no one around him to tell him noan here comes Nolan you want to grab his attention the Kirby was sitting about five or six rows back in this section in the other G the other Sanctuary we used to have brother Kirby looked at me and said noan come here well so I went back there knelt beside him looked I thought magol it's is strange nobody's beside him nobody nobody could tell him that I'm walking in but Kirby looked to me looked me right in the eyes and said Nolan you going to tie your tie before service and what that meant Magnolia is somewhere between Sunday night and Wednesday night that God had opened his blinded eyes God had healed him of blindness I'm thankful that a Joshua has it but it ain't stopping with Joshua it's to my generation as well I've seen the power of God fall I've seen his mighty works I don't want a generation to go by that never experiences the mighty move of God the miraculous power of God I saw in that moment that God is the same yesterday today and forever more and maybe you're under the sound of my voice tonight and you never seen him move like that I want to tell you he's still moving and he's still healing and he's still delivering so whatever you need tonight you could gain the story of yourself tonight if you worship God you can be healed tonight because I've seen him I've seen him do it I've seen him heal I've seen him heal Magnolia my message to you tonight is simple I am not going to raise you in a dead church I'm not going to raise my kids I feel a responsibility now that we found out that we're bringing a child in this world if I can help it we're not going to raise our next Generation in a dead cold church I'm not going to raise another generation in a church that only knows about God's power but that has never exper experience the the the power that can set somebody free I'm not going to raise her in a dead church I'm not I'm I'm not going to raise you in an environment that says we do what we do because Joshua said so I'm not going to raise my daughter in a generation well why do we do that well because your papa said that we should do that I'm not going to raise you baby doll in a g in a church in an environment that says I do this because my parents had certain convictions because I've had a personal encounter with God I've had a burning bush experience with God and I'm going to raise you to know that we are in this way because the Bible says for us to be this way why am I holy is it because a Joshua generation told me to be absolutely and it's because it's right that's the way I am like I I am we can only go so far we can only go so far because two generations later we have a generation that looks different we have a generation that denies maybe just denies the power thereof we have to have the power of God to fall on every generation in this church we have to give our kids a church that is so on on fire for God that one moment they have their experience with God us adults we can create the environment for God to move and I promise if you have a kid at the age of accountability and you may think they're not paying attention during church and and they're falling asleep like you did in church I promise you there's going to be a moment if you create the fire that one day they see that there is something to this that they see there need to be baptized so I want to create the environment for my baby to be saved I want to create the environment to them for them to be filled with the baptism of the Holy Ghost this church is not going to die or lose its passion or Zeal for God if I could tell you for a few short moments What's goes on in Kids Quest yes we have games and yes we have songs that we are we're doing things that we normally wouldn't do in the sanctuary and I'll be honest with you and this is embarrassing but I'll tell you just just to to have some humor few few Services ago we were doing a worship song that we had a certain move and I was doing this certain move and I felt God begin to move and next thing I knew my bridges had gave way and I lowered this jacket and I hopped off the stage like this thankfully I don't live too far away all right so we have fun we get their attention Brother s brother sister Johnson brother Brandon sister Samantha they're amazing at games and brother Riley and sister Arya are amazing at organizing things to keep their attention brother Brandon preaches a lot of times brother Riley preaches they do absolutely awesome on Wednesday nights we have kids groups and and teachers begin to pour into the students on their level and I'm so thankful for that but we do not babysit kids we equip kids for their own experience with God I can't tell you the times that we've we've been up there and parents are starting to pick up their kids but they walk in and see their baby speaking in other tongues that's what it's all about to create the fire to create the atmosphere for them for them to step in for that moment I feel tonight as God has spoken to me a few few words about a dead church I know we're not going to raise our Generations our kids in a church that is dead but I want to address for a few moments just like God did in Revelation 3 and one he talks about the church from Sardis and he says write these things that have the seven spirits of God and the Seven Stars I Know Thy Works uh thou Hast a name that thou livest but art dead Be watchful and strengthen the things which remain those things that are on life support they're they're dying and they are ready to die for I have not found that thy works perfect before God remember therefore how thou Hast received and heard and hold fast and repent if there thou if therefore Thou shalt not watch I will come on thee as a thief and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee thou has a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments and shall walk and they shall walk with me in white for they are worthy this is not the notes and pardon me this has been probably be mocked and ridiculed but if God would address a church about their garments in the Book of Revelation do you think it's important of our garments in this day and age I'm not raising a kid in a church that's changing their garments I'm raising a kid the Bible talks about God God loves a whole God loves a loving church and I know that God is love and we are to be Lov but the Bible says that the church that God is coming back for is a holy church a holy church I know we ought to be Seeker friendly but at the end of the day God is coming back for a holy church I know we ought to be accepting and we ought to love the lost and we do love the lost and I want to show them there's a better way to live it's called Holiness if you want to straighten Holiness is the greatest gift that you can catch on to because when you grab on to Holiness you don't have to worry about being in jail you don't have to worry about s diseases of this world it's called holiness holy holy and forg God I I love it I love to see the passion you may be seated from Pastor Carpenter but I got good news for the church tonight as much as you know that Pastor Carpenter loves Holiness let me tell you about brother Ericson brother Ericson loves Holiness let me tell you about brother Zach Hammond he loves Holiness because we want our kids to be raised in an environment that they know that they are a girl girl or that they know they are a boy because that's what the Bible says and I know that seems farfetched but my daughter's not going to be raised in an environment where she starts to question who she is because God told her who she was along long time ago we're going to be raising our children in a church that's on fire we're going to be raising our children in a church where the gifts go into operation that's the kind of church that's the kind of church amen this church in Sardis you may be seated has a name and a reputation for being alive but God declared it was dead verse two tells us that there were a few parts that were on life support and they were dying Magnolia you're not going to be raised in a dead church but if there's a chance that this church was ever to die I've come to do an autopsy of a dead Church the reports in the autopsy of a dead Church what were the possible causes of death Mr coronor well the report tells us from the autopsy of a dead church that the possible first cause of death was the Dead Sea disease the Dead Sea disease is where there is an inlet the no Outlet everything flows in but it's dead because it has no place to go other people the corner rights who have died of this sickness include the Rich Young Ruler only known for his mere potential and never known for what God really wanted to do in his life he had an inlet everything flowed to the Rich Young Ruler but nothing was flowing from him and when some someone has the Dead Sea disease you will find them dead but with lots of resources you won't find them dead and no resources at all the Dead Sea is a Place full of minerals and resources but it's simply dead because it has no place to flow to usually churches who die from this disease are found dead full of resources accounts that are full resources on the Pew but somewhere it becom more about them than the call that God had given to them to pick up your cross give everything and follow me it becomes more about my wants than God's wants this is a dead sea disease it becomes more about my preferences than God's Commandments it becomes more about my style of living rather than God's standard of living and you'll hear these statements from someone who has the Dead Sea disease I can't sacrifice my abundance for someone else's needs you'll hear someone with Dead Sea disease or a church with a dead sea disease that says I don't want to go beyond what is quied of me to please God at least I follow the Commandments if that was good enough and I believe it I believe that's good Jesus even says man you you're doing good you're doing good but if you want to go that next step if you want to go that next step it's going to cost you something it's going to cost you you everything I know you're full of resources and and the Dead Sea is all about me and myself and I I just don't like the music and I can't worship I I don't like how loud it is and I don't like how it's not loud enough the preacher doesn't have any passion or the preacher just yells too much the services are just too long and but the services are not long enough for God to do anything and spiritually speak speaking the Rich Young Ruler died the day that Jesus gave him an opportunity to have an outlet of his resources that his resources could flow to all right think about what he could have saw what think about what he could have seen think about the opportunity that he had that day when he comes eager he does good it there's no doubt about it Jesus says man you're doing good but if you want to go that next step it's going to require ire some extra it it's going to require some things just think about what you could have saw that day if you would have just given everything to God and pick up your cross and follow him this wasn't a call that God gave that Jesus gave to everybody but this Rich Young Ruler there was something about him that he loved there was something about him that that he loved that he would give him an opportunity to be a disciple if he would have just been a person that resources could have flow flowed from him he would have seen Jesus raised the dead if he could have been a person that yeah it's not convenient and yeah it doesn't really make sense Jesus I've got a lot and then now you want me to become a person that things float through me but don't stay here and go to someone else oh my but you think that you could have saw the blinded eyes be open you could have seen the death ears be unstopped and and and Rich Young Ruler I know you don't realize this in the moment because when you have the battle and decision of of of going to what is convenient or or the the moment of sacrifice you don't see down the road that you could see the Jesus Christ be crucified on the cross the greatest picture of love that anybody could ever see you could be there firsthand if you just don't have the Dead Sea disease you can be in the upper room and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost with the the rest of the disciples for the first time if you just ask the Healer to heal you of the Dead Sea disease let me put it this way there was a Joshua generation that had the blessings of God on it the Rich Young Ruler didn't really earn that all by himself number one he's young and he's Rich okay and you even see a little bit of his motto his motive when he comes to Jesus and says good Master what can I do to inherit eternal life so really tells us something about the Rich Young Ruler maybe he hadn't worked for everything that he had and he just inherited everything but somehow in the midst of his inheritance he was spoiled to think that it was all about him but I've come tonight that this church is not going to have the Dead Sea disease we are full of resources we are blessed of God and we are so highly favored but I'm so thankful it's going to be this way now and it's going to be this way 18 years from now that there's Outlets from this church there's funnels to missionary because we know that if this church is going to be diagnosed with something it's not going to be diagnosed with the Dead Sea disease resources are not just going to come here and stay here but resources are going to come here and flow from here to to Nations that have never heard the saving gospel and the saving name of Jesus Christ we're going to open up we're going to open up and we're going to give he wasn't willing to pay or cost he heard about Jesus maybe he heard about him from a parent I don't know I'm just surmising here we may have the one generation two generation and then his generation would never be heard of you never hear of the Rich Young roller again because simply he did not have that moment that experience with Jesus in the third generation we don't know we don't I would guess they I didn't didn't know about God they didn't know about his power because the first gener that second generation didn't have that experience with God now this next one on the list of the autopsy report of a dead church this is I don't really think God gave this to me I'll be honest with you I think I made this up it sounded good when I was studying this afternoon the dead church has also been diagnosed with Uncle Rico syndrome Uncle Rico syndrome Uncle Rico is a character that who is so obsessed with the past that there will never be anything as good as the Glory Days oh Uncle Rico thinks back that he could take a pig skin and chunk it a quarter mile and he relives those Glory Days when he had the opportunity to be in the state championship but the coach went with somebody else Uncle Rico's syndrome The Glory Days were the best days The Glory Days were so good to him that there would never be as anything that could could could compare to the Glory Days this syndrome is deathly to a healthy church this syndrome the churches with this Syndrome have made statements like this God doesn't move in this church like he used to the worship is is songs are good but it's nothing how how it used to be I I I've really not seen anybody be healed in the while used to we used to have Miracles weekly and we have a testimony service every Sunday night and I've I've not seen the Miracles that happened like it did in the Glory Days of the church Uncle Rico syndrome you're use that one day Dad but the Bible says about Joshua and Moses God says to Moses as I was God says to Joshua as I was with Moses so will I be with thee I will not leave thee nor forsake Thee the god of Moses was the god of Joshua the god that spoke to the burning bush to Moses was the god that would speak to Joshua in the bo burning bush the god that would part the Red Sea for Moses was the god that would part the the River Jordan for Joshua the god that would bring the Fortified walls down in the heart of a man named Pharaoh would also bring down the walls of Jericho for a man named Joshua you might be thinking that's just a bunch of Old Testament height that's really not doesn't apply to us and I only go by those beautiful uh letters in red well I'm so glad you're like that because Jesus says he that believeth on me the works that I do shall he do also and Greater Works than these shall he do because I go unto my father Jesus was saying to the disciples G you think these are the Glory Days You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet you've not seen the days where I'm going to pour out my spirit upon All Flesh you ain't seen the days that the ladder rain and the former rain will come together and I'm going to pour it out I'm going to pour it out I've come tonight to here to tell someone that the greatest days of this church are not behind us but they are yet before us the greatest anointing that we have ever seen maybe just found in a kid that's sitting on your Pew the greatest Soul Winer that we have seen may just be in the nursery tonight because you realize this motto that it's not about us it's all about the future of the church I'm so thankful that God is going to do something greater in this church that he's already that he's already done before back up come here for a second Bob I believe that God's going to do something greater than he's done come on run son you're B you're basketball player let's go it's my buddy right here if if you don't believe me you're my buddy let me show you what what happened to me if you throw that picture on the screen this is what your papa used to do to me your papa was preaching and he needed a devil guess who's the devil okay he was preaching about the devil being bound up he was preaching about the devil not having a foothold in your life so of course he had to tap my feet and then he asked me I remember if you if you were there that night would you just show shake your head does anybody remember this I promise it happened okay I got picture proofed then I be to move my hands and he take my hands he duct take my hands and then I began to say something and he duct tap my mouth all right about died of Suffocation that day sad day so I'm sorry you're just you're just here all right [name redacted] I believe at the greatest stage of the church is what your generation is going to see and the other day and the other day [name redacted] said to his mom he said oh don't say this [name redacted] said to his mom he said Mom I think I want to be the mayor of this town he he said I want to be the mayor Lauren said [name redacted] why do you want to be the mayor he said well I think it's right we just ban cigarettes in this town I've seen it kill a lot of people but I'm telling you I'm not not going to place a limit on what God can do in this generation I believe that this generation is going to be the generation that sees miracles signs and wonders like they've never seen before I believe this generation right here it's going to be the generation that lays hands on the sick and they shall recover I believe the greatest generation is found in Kids Quest because Greater Works shall they do Greater Works if you have a child right now next to you it may not be your child but would you lay hands on him for just a moment and would you pray God's anointing begin to fall on them would you pray that God begins to use them God in the name of Jesus I pray for [name redacted]'s generation that this generation's going to be the best generation that this church has ever seen this generation's going to prophesy this generation's going to see miracles signs and wonders this generation's going to lead a Revival in this town that it's going to save the world it's going to start here and flow it's going to start and flow I believe it I believe your children I believe your children are not just some spoiled little kids I believe they're Mighty Warriors that God's going to use if you think your generation's great you ain't seen nothing yet if you've seen some cool things you ain't seen nothing yet I know God Did It for an older generation but we've not seen anything yet it's generation this generation is going to be the greatest I'm not dying of Uncle Uncle Rico's syndrome I'm not dying of a day that I thought my day was a glory day and if we don't sing the songs like we used to see you know one of these days the songs that we sang tonight they're going to be old and there's going to be new worship I'm not falling into the Trap I'm not falling into the Trap that my day was the greatest because that is so contrary to the word of God that is the greatest Generation that that you're you're that we've ever seen the church has ever seen you may be seated just a few more moments remember I'm keeping you from the greatest generation at home Lord the greatest Generation that you hope the preacher preaches longer few more sicknesses we could have we could see a sickness on the autopsy report it doesn't really take hold immediately it's not a sickness that you go in and they tell you you've got six weeks to live it's not a sickness like that the church could die of but it's just a slow Decay this sickness is something that slowly things go away you can go to church with this sickness and you can be used to being sick and still get by but you don't notice this leprosy until it's too late you don't notice that your Zeal for God has gone until it's too late you don't notice that you used to pray and not even be worried about a clock but now you're just just man if I can just get on my knees today and and somehow that we've drawn used to if matter of fact if I had the lights be dimmed in this church over a period of time if I took the next 10 minute minutes and every single 20 seconds they would just dim the lights ever so shortly it would just become dimmer and dimmer and dimmer and then the next moment you're going to realize that in utter Darkness because you just become used to that's how it is that slow erosion if I had time I could tell you about the people of God and how the people of God God delivered them out of Babylon and God delivered them from the hands of the enemy and then now they are so excited and they begin to return to the Holy Land Jerusalem and they were so excited they had an altar they built an altar because they knew they needed somewhere to sacrifice to God and they begin to build the foundation in Ezra chapter 3 it talks about the the great celebration that happens but somehow along the way the work on the house of God just seems to diminish don't know where don't it wasn't just a moment we said hey we're going to stop building the house of God and we're going to go home and focus on our own houses but somewhere it just work decreased one day the next week work decreased a little bit more and then people didn't show up to work and then they stand there years from that moment realizing the house of God is in Ruins all while their houses at home are really kept up but they've got an altar but the house of God is in Ruins and God speaks in Hagi 1 and verse number two thus speaketh the Lord host saying this people say this time is not come that the time that the Lord's house shall be built then came the word of the Lord to hagah the prophet saying it is time for you oh ye that dwell in your luxurious that word right there means nice luxury your houses but this house liy and waste now therefore thus say the Lord consider your ways ye have sown much you've done you've done a lot of work to sow but you bring in little you eat you have a but you don't have enough to eat you drink but you're not filled with drink you clothed but there's no warmth coming to you he that earnthenecklace I I'm trying to do a lot I'm trying to do I'm trying to sew seed but why is my Harvest so little and God puts it this way I did blow upon it why sayeth the Lord of hosts because of mine house that is in waste and you run every man into his own house God calls this sickness out in Hagi and this is a sickness that still plagues the church this this could be a small slow paced erosion of the lack of prayer sure it won't take us out in one moment but it will take us out eventually there could be a slow small slow paced erosion of the lack of outward focus of the church this is the autopsy report it's not going to knock us out in a moment but it it will eventually take the church's health or your health it could be a slow paced erosion of a lack of commitment to God but tonight I'm not going to get used to that sickness in my life I if if I have faded from God oh God reveal it to me tonight if I have lost my passion for God God reveal it to me tonight I don't want to slow paac just loss and and decay in my life it's time to get back to the commitment that God deserves and this final sickness and this is really where I feel I know I've been preaching way too long but yet you see the reward the final sickness and I'm telling you this sickness is the most deadly any church any person that has contracted this final sickness 100 times out of 100 times they have all died spiritually the autopsy report reveals that 100% of people that get this disease will die eventually this sickness is called not knowing how to move the presence of God this is a deadly sickness this is a sickness in Scripture that you see anybody that doesn't know how to move the presence of God they are surely to die David comes to the throne and the first order of business is to go get the presence of God 1 chonicles 13:3 says and let us bring again the Ark of our God to us for we inquire not at it in the days of Saul during Saul's entire reign as the king of Israel not once did it ever occurred to him to go get the presence of God I want to tell something that will destroy our lives and it will destroy this church let there not be a day that we think we can do all this without him let there never be a day where I think God I got it tonight Lord you can take the Sunday night off because I've got it tonight I've got a really good skilled message got I've got a lot I'm going to talk about autopsy that none of that this is just the foolishness of preaching because I realize if God doesn't move tonight what have we done in the last hour and 40 minutes we've done absolutely nothing we've got to have the presence of God we won't survive if we don't have the presence of God we've got to have a move of God in our lives we better be careful that that we become so blessed that we depend so much on the blessings that we forget about the one who gave the blessings in the first place that never because that's a sickness that will kill your family that's a sickness that will kill your your your congregation that's a sickness that will kill your personal your personal life second Samuel just a few more points I promise musicians you can come and we we'll end it here 2 Samuel 6:6 and when they came to n's thresh four oza put forth his hand to the ark and took hold of it for the oxen shook it the anger of the Lord was kindled against yua and God smote him there for his error and there he died by the Ark of God o this called called autopsy report says that he died because he did not know how to move the presence of God he didn't know how to move the presence of God which which blows my mind with this with this particular uh man because another time that we see his name mention is when the presence of God was in the house of abinadab and he watched the philistin bring the presence of God on a cart and he put it in his home and sure it might have been because his father was a badab and it sure it could have been because his father was a a blessed man but somewhere along the the way it was in his house but he never learned how to move the ark it was in his house for years while King Saul didn't even consider to come get it Dad it was in his house for years second 2 Samuel 6:3 says and they set out to get to Ark upon a new cart and brought it out of the house of abinadab that was in giba and USA in Ohio the sons of abinadab drove the new C if there's anybody that would supposed to know how to move the presence of God if there was anybody that would know how to to move it this is how God likes to be moved it would have been user but the ark had been in this home for years he he saw the blessings that the ark the presence of God brought to his father abinadab he were so used to the presence of God and felt its benefits but hen never learned how to move it for himself God helped me tonight God helped me to get to a point never get to a point where we're so familiar with God's presence that I never learned how to move it for myself God let me never it's been in my house for years God I've grown up with good parents I've grown up with a with good grandparents but there was never a moment God let it never be said that I never learn how I don't learn how to move it from my myself so I ask you good people today when's the last time that you've moved the presence of God for yourself when's the last time sure you felt the benefits who could come in this atmosphere and not feel the presence of God he's here but when's the last time that we all learn how to move the presence of God for ourselves because it just takes two generations it takes from a Joshua that knows how to operate and knows how to move God God and knows how to get a hold of God but then two generations from Joshua I don't even know God who God my grandfather we're not careful will'll be so relied on blessings and and benefits and we never learn how to move the presence of God for ourselves the presence of God was not to be moved in on a cart but it was to be on the shoulders of men and women David gets him some qualified people after Aza dies he should know how to move it but it gets in some people he read in the word of God where God likes to be moved on the shoulders of people God likes to be moved not a cart there's a lot of things about this cart we can learn we can learn about the Philistines they moved God's presence but it's not how God wanted to be moved and we see when the people of God begin to move his presence pres that someone died because they they should know better and so I wonder tonight with everybody if you'd stand to your feet I feel like the Lord is going to move and I I feel like God is is showing me this altar call in such a clear way when's the last time father that you have been the cause of a moving and a shaking of the presence of God when's the last time that your child that is going to be the Great lest generation that the world has ever seen when's the last time he seen you move the presence of God yeah he's seen it be moved he's he's come to church or she's come to church and see she's seen the presence of God operate it's got to start with you you got to learn how to to move it and you got to learn how to to move the presence of God when's the last time your family was the cause of a move and a a shaking the presence of God so here's how I feel like the Lord is ordained this altar tonight this is about our our children or the Next Generation if you would if you if you'd grab your child I don't care if your child's 18 years old your child's 5 years old whatever it is if you would make your way to the altar tonight if you would make your way to the altar if if if you don't have children in this place there's a lot of good teenagers here that don't have somebody with them and and and link up with him and I I link up with him and pray and if you would I'll give you just a second give you just a second God I love you tonight God I love you tonight I love you tonight the next few moments why don't you try to be the cause of the moving of the presence of God why why don't you be the cause of of the presence of God has been dormant for years in your family but tonight as a father and as a mother you're going to pick the you'll pick it up and put it on your shoulders so what I want us to do for the next few moments with your family there dads I wish you being here and feeling the benefits of God feeling the blessings of God but when's the last time I learned how to move him when's the last time I was the reason that God's presence would begin to move and I feel I I I feel right now if we for the next few moments if there would be a sound of prayer that would erupt this place and it would be led by the parents just for a moment pray for your kids and I I I feel that God's going to show us something pray for your kids for just a moment pray for their future spouses pray that God places a Ministry and a a calling on them pray that God would give
