Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
A revival church, warned: quench not the Spirit
- The text: 'Quench not the Spirit' (1 Thessalonians 5:19) — quench means to suppress, to stamp out, to stifle, or to cause something to dry up.
- Thessalonica was a revival church: the gospel came not in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance (1 Thessalonians 1:5-6).
- They turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God (1 Thessalonians 1:9) — a church converting idol worshippers, not letting the culture get inside the church.
- Paul sent Timothy to know their faith lest the tempter had tempted them in their tribulation; the report came back that they had not given up (1 Thessalonians 3:2-5).
- Yet to this very church Paul writes, 'Quench not the Spirit' — and Jesus went out and departed from the temple for the last time (Matthew 24:1). A fire that is not protected is hard to restart once it goes out.
Scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 5:19; Matthew 24:1; 1 Thessalonians 1:5-6; 1 Thessalonians 1:9; 1 Thessalonians 3:2-5
Laodicea: the lukewarm church that lost the fire
- 'I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot... because thou art lukewarm, I will spew thee out of my mouth' (Revelation 3:15-16).
- Hot water heals and purifies and cold water refreshes, but lukewarm water is useless and without purpose; a church without purpose quenches the Spirit.
- Laodicea's water arrived lukewarm through a six-mile channel from hot springs: when we get our nourishment from another source instead of getting hold of God for ourselves, we quench the Spirit.
- God did not call us to a Sunday-and-Wednesday-only relationship; compromise — to our faithfulness, our worship, and how we live — is how the fire dies.
Scriptures: Revelation 3:15-16
Attitudes that quench: the woes of Matthew 23
- Returning to Matthew 24: Jesus tells the disciples that of the temple buildings there shall not be left one stone upon another (Matthew 24:1-2) — then the sermon walks the woes he had just pronounced.
- Sign one: shutting up the kingdom of heaven against men — deciding the gospel is just for us and no more (Matthew 23:13).
- Sign two: impure motives — devouring widows' houses and, for a pretense, making long prayer (Matthew 23:14).
- Sign three: a negative influence — compassing sea and land to make one proselyte and making him twofold more the child of hell (Matthew 23:15). You can teach what you know, but you impart who you are.
- Sign four: clean on the outside and dead on the inside — whited sepulchres, full of dead men's bones; the outside must be the fruit of a holy heart within (Matthew 23:25-28).
- Sign five: building the tombs of the prophets while failing to recognize God moving right in front of you.
Scriptures: Matthew 24:1-2; Matthew 23:13; Matthew 23:14; Matthew 23:15; Matthew 23:25-28; Matthew 23:29-31
Unforgiveness: the quickest quench — and what forgiveness opens
- To the disciples Jesus says offenses will come, but woe to him through whom they come; forgive the brother who repents, even seven times in a day — and the apostles answer, 'Lord, increase our faith' (Luke 17:1-4).
- You will never get over it unless you get through it: going around an offense never removes it; only forgiveness goes through it.
- Forgiveness is the highest level of faith a disciple is asked for — greater than the faith for miracles — because it cost Jesus not only 39 stripes but his life.
- When Jesus spoke forgiveness from the cross, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom, the earth quaked and the rocks rent, and the graves were opened: forgiveness opens heaven, shakes the earth, and brings dead things back to life.
- The altar call closes the sermon: forgive, and do not let the fire go out — not just tonight, but on the way to school and the way to work tomorrow.

Before we go into the word of the Lord tonight, greet someone next to you. Tell them it's good to see them on a Sunday night at First Apostolic Church. Thank you so much. You know, and on Sunday morning, we usually say out of the many houses of worship that you could be at, we were so honored that you're here at FAC, but it's Sunday night. If you're here, you didn't really have a lot of options. So, we're glad you came. We're glad you're experiencing the presence of God with us. And I thank God for people who will come on a Sunday night. How many are thankful for Sunday night church? All right, I got all of you over here. What about over here? How many are thankful? Yeah, I got to yell over here. Do I got anybody else? Give me more than that right there. Sister Heather, I think you're thankful for a Sunday night. You never know what'll happen on a Sunday night. Come on. With praise and worship goes up to God. You never know what'll happen. Amen. Amen. I thank God for what he's doing tonight. And I want to apologize for just a few moments. Number one, I want to apologize number one. First thing I want to apologize for is that I've got to follow that masterpiece of a message this morning. And uh wow, what a word from our pastor we heard tonight. If you enjoyed Pastor Carpenter's message on the legacy, would you clap your hands? And the second thing I want to apologize for for just a moment is, you know, God did not give me the the gift of, you know, one of them reading voices and especially when I get all stuffed up and my nose my nose begins to run and I'm opposite my feet begin to stink and my nose begins to run. When that begins to happen, I don't sound I wish I sound like Bishop Osburn, but I sound more like what's this place? What's what I say? Urkl. Yeah, that's what I sound like. So, you're going to hear from Reverend Urkel for Yeah, I said that, Pastor Ericson. Not He didn't say I said that. God, I wish he would have gave me the the gift of Bishop Osborne, but you're going to hear brother Urkl tonight for the next few few minutes. And thank you so much. Thank you so much for coming to the house of the Lord. I got a tail on. I think he left because he he knew I was going to say this to the church. I saw Beckham's eyes get about this big just a moment ago and I was going through my iPad real quick trying to just get through all the things, highlight a few things and his eyes got big and I'm like, "Buddy, what's going on?" And he just pointed at my iPad. I'm like, "Yeah, it's my notes." And he shook his head and he pointed right in the corner and it said one page out of 31. And his eyes got that big. And I'm like, "Son, this is 18.5 font." But yeah, we're going to be here for a little bit. All right. So, and he's gone to the bathroom or something. I don't know where where he's at. First Thessalonians 5:19. And uh I'll get your hopes up. Uh this scripture, the length of this scripture is not an indication of the length of the message tonight, but it's going to help us preach for just just a few moments. 1 Thessalonians 5 and 19. If you've gotten your Bibles, would you say amen? If >> you're going to cheat on the screen, would you say amen? >> Amen. There's some saved people here. 1 Thessalonians 5:19 says, "Quench not the spirit." Quench not the spirit. Now go in your Bibles to Matthew chap 24 and verse number one. Matthew 24 and verse number one. It says, "And Jesus went out and departed from the temple." Now, if you are a church leader, if you are uh any person that works in the church or cares about just everything that goes on with church work or even more important than that goes on during the service, those nine words frighten you. and Jesus went out and departed from the temple. Now, this verse, I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but this is the last time that Jesus ever stepped foot in the temple. It's the last time that Jesus ever darkened the doors of the temple. And he says some pretty interesting things that we're going to get into tonight. So I want to preach to for you great people for just a moment on quench not the spirit. Quench not the spirit. You put your Bibles down. You just help me for a moment. Would you lift your hands? Most importantly, would you lift your voice? Let's ask God to meet us here for just a moment. I feel like the Lord is going to do something tonight. Lord, I thank you for your word. I thank you for your great people, God, that have gathered once again, God, to be in your presence, Lord. God, I never want to take a moment, God, for granted in your presence, God. Because in your presence, Lord, you could do more in that one moment than we could ever do in a lifetime, Lord. God, in a one moment, God, in your presence, you can put lives back together. God, we could spend our whole lives trying to fix pieces of our life. But God, just one moment in your presence can do it all. It could change us all. Lord, I pray if you'd give me strength for the next few moments to preach your word, God, I'd be so thankful. I give you all the praise, all the glory, and all the honor in Jesus' name. Could someone say in Jesus' name? And now, before you're seated, could you clap your hands all across this room tonight? In Jesus name. Amen. Quench not the spirit. And Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and his disciples came to him for to show him the buildings of the temple. We'll get to that passage of scripture here in a few moments. But the church in Thessalonica, the church that Paul was writing to in First Thessalonians and 2 Thessalonians, was experiencing some revival. They were not experiencing a one-time moving of God's presence, but rather revival in Thessalonica seemed to be happening over and over and over again. Matter of fact, they were, if we could call, a revival church. It was not just one service, but something happened where every time they met together, God met them there in their services. God met them there in their ways of living. But at the same time that revival is happening in Thessalonica, Paul was writing to them to quench not the spirit. The book of first Thessalonians was delivered at one time. It was it was not a book that was delivered in chapters, but it was delivered one time, the whole book. And so while we see that revival was happening over and over and over again, Paul would just simply tell them to quench not the spirit. Paul gives us a, if you'll hear the words of Reverend Urkl tonight for a few moments, Paul gives us a indication of what a New Testament revival church ought to look like. 1 Thessalonians 1 and and five says, "For our gospel, they preached the gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Ghost in much assurance as ye know what manner of men were among you for your sake." And ye became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction with joy of the Holy Ghost. Not only was the gospel being preached, but the gospel was being heard. And not only was the gospel being heard, but the power of the gospel was being felt. How many of you are thankful that the power of the gospel is still felt in the church today? The power I'm talking about is the power to make you walk right and the power to make you talk right and the power to make you think right and the power to make you behave right. But still yet Paul is saying quench not the spirit power of the gospel was being received and people were getting the Holy Ghost left and right and baptisms were happening and revival not only happened which we call revival services of of three day uh h three days in a row a row of revival but not in the New Testament church in in Thessalonica. It happened over and over and over and over again. They were in a season of revival. But just because you're in a season of revival, we can still quench the spirit of the almighty God. Let's look more at this revival church for just a few moments. First Thessalonians 1:9. For they themselves show us of what mannering entering in we had unto you and how you turn to God from idols to serve the living and the one true God. This church is converting idol worshippers to Jesus worshippers. It's the kind of that's the kind of church I want to be. >> I know we're we're we're we're not so u inclined to go bow down to an idol. I remember we had a had a a precious neighbor had a precious neighbor by the name of Kenna and and him and my dad would have conversation all the time. It was Kenny and Kenna and they would have fun with that going back and forth. But I remember going into his house, it's a precious Indian man and his family and and uh the their house there and went in a couple times and just idols everywhere and uh dad my dad's told the story about this, but there is a like a a picture of a fountain and a god sitting upon that fountain and and money coins were flowing out of the hand of this idol. this picture and Kenna, my neighbor said, "I spent a lot of time praying to that idol." I'd say, "Yeah, I bet you do. Bet you do." And even and even the daughter, I remember the daughter was treated as somewhat of a princess and and she's they said in their in their religion that their daughters, we worship them. I'm thinking, man, what about our what what about the brothers? What about the sons? You know, Lord, help us. But idol, we're not so inclined to idol worship. But we can serve some false idols called mis misdirected priorities. >> We can we can fall prey to the idols of putting anything else in front of the one true and living God. But Paul says to the church in Thessalonica that they weren't letting the culture of the world get inside the church. They were converting people. They were having they were having revival. But still yet Paul says, "Quench not the spirit." 1 Thessalonians, it gets even better than that. In in in chapter 3 2, it says, "And sent Timothy, our brother, a minister of God, and and fellow laborer of the gospel of Christ to establish you, to comfort you concerning your faith, that no man should be moved by these afflictions. For yourselves you know that they were we are appointed there unto. For verily when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation and tribulation has come and you know for this cause when I could no longer forbear. I I sent a I sent a spy. I sent a spy to to know I know your faith but I I sent somebody just to check on you by the name of of Timothy. I sent to know your faith, lest by the means the tempter have come and our labor in Thessalonica be be in vain. Paul is saying, I I I I knew some things were happening. Some some tribulations were coming and I I thought you couldn't make it. >> All right. I thought you were going to give in to tell. I thought all of our money that we've sent to Thessalonica would be in vain. I thought all the Bible studies were for not just because of the tribulation. I got so concerned. I said, "Timothy, I'm gonna need you to go. I need you to check this church out and give me a a a report and not one of them evangelist report of, you know, 700 got the Holy Ghost and there were only five in attendance. I need some reality. I I need to know. I need to know if if this is the truth." And and Timothy comes back says, "Paul, I them people are the happiest folks I've ever seen in my life. The tempter has come." and and Paul's saying, "It's it's easy when the tribulation comes for the tempter to come and and come and rob you of your faith. I heard so much junk going on and how many hard times have come through families upon families and I'd worried I was worried that you would give up." Timothy reported back that the revival church had not given up. Even through tribulation, the Thessalonica church was still having revival. 1 Thessalonians 3 and13 uh through chapters uh 4 and verse 18. This church was not only a revival church in the sanctuary or in their church, but they even had some revival in their personal life. When Paul begins to talk about how they acted, how they conducted themselves through personal holiness and you you really this church I I I was just amazed as I begin to read. I'm trying to find some fault with them. I'm trying to make myself feel a little bit a little bit better about myself or or or man, what are we doing something wrong? And I don't think we are. you wanted to hire people from this church because Paul begins to talk about that your spirituality is connected to how hard you work. >> So you wanted to hire people from the church in Thessalonians. And I think the same could be said about some people here that you want to hire the people of First Apostolic Church. They're not going to be lazy on the job. They're not going to be sleeping in, but them are some them are some hard workers. And and so they had some revival and and maybe that's a little bit of conviction for us today cuz you know we maybe our you know the Bible says whatever your hand finds to do do it with all your might and that's a you know talk I need to get Zack Hammond to come preach on that you know he's all talking about work all the time you know work work how hard you can work this Thessalonica church was a pastor's dream they would honor leadership they would follow proven leadership. They they would when false teachers came in and false teachers began to tickle their ears with enticing words that the church in Thessalonians, they were they weren't given over to that. They were smarter than that. They they were submitted to the authority that God had gave them and and and God trusted them trusted them with. They wouldn't just trust anybody that came through that said they have a word from the Lord for you. You know, I remember one time, I'm going to tell these stories cuz they're not here tonight, but I remember one time a dad answered the phone from a evangelist from between here in Vietnam. As dad says, evangelist begin to say, "Pastor Carpenter, I've got a word from the Lord." He added that little preacher, "Word from the Lord forever." Yeah. For this church. Yeah. He said, "I got a word from the Lord." Pastor, if you'll let me come deliver it. I believe God's going to do something. My dad just kind of raised him eyebrows, just chuckled, you know, like he does, you know, just I love how my dad could say something mean and still smile, you know. It's just like you can't help but like the guy. All right. And uh he said, "Well, brother, I'll tell you what, that shucks. I'll tell you what. If you'll give me the word, I'll tell the people for you." All right. How about that? How about that? Uh well I just tell them tell them rejoice and God will give them a blessing. He said all right brother I'll tell them rejoice and God will give them a blessing. But this church was found in sound doctrine. Every stage of life was represented in the church at Thessalonica. They were developing mature saints. They were birthing brand new spiritual infants. And if I've ever read about a revival church, it was this church. And I'm beginning to realize the more I read about the church in Thessalonica. And I don't mean to be boastful, Uncle Jerry. And I don't mean to be proud or prideful, but maybe a little godly pride. And if there's such thing as being godly, prideful, that church in Thessalonica sounds a whole lot whole lot like the church here in Marville, Tennessee. >> We're seeing people born again of the water and of the spirit weekly. >> There's almost a service, and you might, this might be the exception tonight. They may hear Uncle Urkl preach and they there might be nobody get baptized. But it is not unusual for us to see somebody receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost about every time we meet here in the sanctuary. And I've not come to be boastful, but I've come to tell us we're in a season of revival. We're in a season where God is challen challenging us and and changing us because we are seeing >> a time >> of revival. But if Paul would write us a letter, I think he would say to us, "Quench not the spirit." What you've got is so special. Don't let it go out. I know, Nolan, you're saying about all the times where you see miracle, signs, and wonders. Well, where's the sickness being healed? No, I'm talking about the greatest miracle, and that is somebody receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. And the greatest miracle, somebody going down in the the lovely name of Jesus Christ. I never want to take it for granted when the waters of baptism are troubled. I never want to take it for granted when somebody begins to worship and praise an almighty God. Why? Because God is moving and God is changing. But quench not the spirit. I believe if God would send a spy to us like old brother Timothy, I believe brother Timothy would report back to God, he'd maybe get on the phone with his preaching buddies like Paul. He would say, "Hey, yeah, they've went through some tribulation, but they're winning souls like never before. They've went through some things. Some families have went through some ups and some downs, but those families are still remaining faithful to God when they didn't feel like God was being faithful to them. And that's why through the seasons we've served God through the ups and the downs. That's why we are in a season of revival. That's why we are seeing people being turned to the gospel message, the true gospel message. That's why we are seeing God turn people to the apostolic >> message. The reason God is birthing new converts every single service. And you know, you're at a a church that's growing and thriving when there needs to be a series on the oneness of God. When there needs to be a series about who Jesus is. Thank you, Pastor Ericson, Wednesday night for preaching to us that there is only one God and his name is Jesus. Now, I know we can think, "Yeah, we know that." But what about the new convert across the way that just received the baptism of the Holy Ghost? Come on. We got to keep these things in the forefront. There are people who never heard that Jesus is the one true living God. >> I know we hear. I know. We know why we're baptized. What about the person that just walked in the door? >> God forbid there be a day where baptism doesn't need to be preached. And God forbid there be a day where oneness of Godhead doesn't need to be preached because we think we know it all. What that tells us is that we're not getting new people in the doors and on the pews of the church. God help us that every single sermon have to has b have to have baptism woven in in the message. God help us that every sermon has to have some little nugget of the oneness of the Godhead >> because it it means we're producing. It means that God is growing. It means that the church is thriving. >> But I've come to butter you up a little bit. But I also got you so close. I'm gonna come I'm gonna smack you a little bit. All right. I've come to tell us quench not the spirit. quench not. What we have is so special. What we do is so special. And if God, if I'm prideful tonight, please forgive me. But I've just come to thank you for what you do in this church. I've come to thank you, God, publicly. I get to raise my family in this church, God. I've come to thank you publicly. I've got white-headed saints of God that I can look to and look at their marriage and how they parented and how their grandparents and say, "Yeah, we can be like the Zhinders and yeah, we can be like the Cal. That's the type of church I want to be a part of that has every stage of life that's growing and it's thriving." But the scripture that's come to my mind over and over again is quench not the spirit. Quench not the spirit. Quench means to suppress or to stamp out to to stifle or to cause something to dry up. We must be careful. come to just preach to the church tonight that we must be careful to never quench the fire of revival that God has blessed us with. God forbid that God doesn't have to take away the spirit of revival for us to miss revival or to long for revival. God forbid that God doesn't have to take us through a season where we we remember the times when the Holy Ghost used to interrupt the service. And we begin to talk about the days when something would begin to happen on a Sunday night where somebody begin to worship and we didn't even have any preach and God help us to not have to go through a dry spell to remember what the spirit felt like and what the spirit sounded like. There is a certain sound to the spirit of the almighty God. Peter begins to preach on the day of Pentecost and he says this is the Holy Ghost which we do now hear and see. There is a certain sound to the spirit of God and there is something audible audible and visual that happens when the spirit begins to move. have just come to just remind us quench not the spirit. Don't let it go out because it's so so difficult to restart a godly fire once it's been quenched. Once God starts something and you don't protect it with all your might. Once God starts faithfulness to the house of God in your family and you don't protect that special sacrifice that you and your family makes, >> it is so difficult to get back to it. And I'm not I'm not This is just our church tonight. If somebody's watching and you're watching because you don't have Sunday night, I promise you I'm not I'm not knocking your pastor. I'm not knocking your church. I'm just preaching to the most perfect church in all the world, First Apostolic Church of Marville. That's who I'm preaching to tonight. All right. But God, help us to protect what we have on Sunday night. >> God, help us. God has started a fire on Sunday night. And help us to protect it and keep it because once the fire goes out, why is the purpose of coming? What's the purpose of coming an extra time on Sunday if the fire of the spirit of the almighty God? Lord, help us to stir the fire up, to keep on kindling the fire because it goes from mama and daddy to the children. Help us. Help us to not quench the spirit. I'm not concerned with just having revival just to have revival. I'm not concerned with just having good church to pat ourselves on the back for the sake of having good church. I not only want revival to come, but I want revival to stay. >> I not only want to have good church, but I want good church to be our custom. And good church not to be out of the ordinary. But every time we enter into the house of the Lord, after the Holy Ghost tonight, there is a spirit of expectation of what in the world is God going to do tonight. You never know what God is going to do. Pastor Hammond said it. There's a spirit of expectation. You never know what God is going to do when his spirit begins to move. >> You never know what'll happen. I prayed it just a moment ago that we try our whole lives to fix broken pieces of our life, but you never know what a a moment in the presence of God will do for your marriage. You'll never know when you grab that spouse by the hand. You begin to worship together. All of your problems at home begin to disappear and become smaller and smaller. You just never know. Can I get an amen in the house? >> You just never know what'll happen when revival comes. But I've come to tell us like Paul over and over again, quench not the spirit. Come on, choir. Never lose your fire. >> Come on, Sunday school teachers. I know it's difficult sometimes when that kid keeps on talking out. You've prepared. I see some of you Sunday school teachers laughing. I know what it's like to be I told you. Let me just skip over that. Let me skip over that story. But come on, never lose your fire. Never lose your fire. Come on, trends setters. I know. I know. Tonight, man, brother Hammond said to run. I forgot how big this place was. You gota you got to plan your aisle running. You know, I it used to be like detours. I Hudson triplet like lapping me. I'm like, what in the world? You know, I'm you know, but let's never let the fire go out on our worship. I know. And I know I'm I'm almost 30. My wife reminds me that like daily. I begin to say, "My knee hurts." And she's like, "Well, you are almost 30. Oh, thanks." But homebuilders never lose your fire. >> Quench not the spirit. Strong Tower students, I know we've been raised in good church, but we can never lose our fire. Kids Quest, I know we worship a little different, but we can never lose the fire of the Holy Ghost. I'm thankful for my free brothers tonight. I'm thankful for you guys that God is doing a a work in your life, but brother, never lose your fire. Come on. Once it goes out, it's hard to get back. Come on, small group leaders, never lose your fire. ACA workers, I feel the Holy Ghost moving right now. Never lose your fire. Come on, brother Sullivan. Pastor Sullivan, never lose your fire. Oh, come on, church attendance. Never lose your fire. Come on, prayer room. Never lose your fire. Come on, son up to sundown prayer. Never lose your Oh, come on, Sunday morning service. I've come to tell you, never lose your fire. Come on, Sunday night service. I've come to tell you, never lose your fire. Oh, how can I forget about my dad's favorite service? Come on, Wednesday night. Never lose your never lose your fire because there was a church that used to have the fire and lost it. There was a church that had revival, not just a one-time experience of Pentecost, but a revival of Pentecost. And somehow someway it was quenched and the church lost it. This church is oh so famous to us. Revelation 3:15, the church of the Leodysans. The Bible says, "I know thy works that thou art neither hot nor cold." You're you're hot enough that you used to be in Pentecost, but you're not cold enough where you're in the world. I just wish you were cold or hot because then because then because thou art lukewarm, neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth. Several things here we can dive into and I've got to hurry to the ending. But several things here in scripture we could talk about. We know that hot water has purpose and so does cold water. But there is nothing more disgusting than lukewarm water. There's nothing more disgusting, let me get a little bold, a lukewarm church. There's nothing more gross in the eyes of God than a lukewarm service. I've come to tell us, we cannot quench and stop the spirit of the almighty God. If we become a lukewarm church, we just might as well be a cold church. I wish you were hot or cold. At least God can do something with you. Oh, God. Hot water heals and purifies, and cold water refreshes. But lukewarm water is useless and without purpose. One way that we could quench the spirit of God is to be a church without purpose. One way we can quench the spirit of God in our own personal lives. Maybe it's a family, maybe it's you as an individual, but definitely corporately as a church. One way we can quench the spirit of God is to lack a purpose. God said, "I'll spew you out of my mouth." Why? Because you have no purpose at all. And the reason that God would use such strong Jesus would use such strong wording is because it related to the city and and related to the water that they would drink. Their main water supply would come through a a sixmile channel. And I just think that's interesting that that's the number of man. Six mile channel from the hot springs of Herapapolis. And by the time their nourishment got to them, it arrived lukewarm. It arrived from them, it would go from the six miles away in Herapapolis to f by the time it got to Leodysia, it was just disgustingly lukewarm. They had become so used to lukewarm water that when Jesus began to speak to them and say, "Hey, that you you just you for you you've you've gotten used to it. But what you're getting used to, I'm going to spew out of my mouth. It doesn't have any purpose at all." And the big problem was the Leodysans were getting their water from another source. They were getting their water from another place. And that other place was transporting their water. What was supposed to be refreshing to them was being transported by another source. Why is it so important, church, that we never quench the spirit? Because it's difficult to restart or it's difficult to get back revival when you lost it in the first place. When you begin to get your source of nourishment from somebody else, I've come to tell you, you're quenching the spirit of the almighty God. While I'm thankful, we have the best pastor you could ever ask for. While I'm thankful, my my father and Pastor Ericson and Pastor Hammond are the best three preachers I've ever met. what they preach to you. If it doesn't get in you on Monday and Tuesday and Thursday and Friday and Saturday, then you're getting your source of nourishment from something else. >> If you can't get a hold of the spirit of God for yourself, there's a problem. I I've come to tell us, don't quench the spirit because what you're getting used to is a Sunday and Wednesday type of relationship with the almighty God. But God did not call us to Sundays and Wednesdays only, but he called us to Monday and Tuesday and Thursday and Friday. Come on. When's the last time you got your nourishment? What you needed for yourself? When's the last time you got on your knees and begin to cry out to God to get something for >> yourself? He says, "I wish I wish you were hot or cold because I could do something with you. I'd rather you be as cold as a backslider so I could do something with you." Or I wish you could be a revival church or revival person so I could do something with you. That's why it's easier for God to do something. Listen to this. It's easier for God to do something in the Old Testament with a harlot. And it's easier for him to do something with a harlot than it is for him to do something with Judas. Because God said, "I wish I wish you just pick a side. Stop straddling the middle. I wish you just pick a side." That's why it's easier for Jesus to blind a Christian killer by the name of Saul and move on him to to push him to water baptism than it is for Jesus to move on scribes and Pharisees. The reason we cannot be feeling certain things is because we are lukewarm. The reason we we're not feeling convictions like we used to is because you don't have the same spirit of revival that you used to. Conviction used to hit you deep. I feel the Holy Ghost in this place right now. Conviction used to hit you right in the heart. It would move you to your knees. It would move you to put your face in the carpet. But somehow through the process of time, you begin to focus on getting your nourishment from something else. from another supply. >> Jesus looks back and says, "Church, I wish you were just hot or cold." It's easier for God to move on somebody who's completely lost with someone who thinks they're okay, but is truly completely lost. It's a lukewarm. It's somebody who's who's quenched quenched the spirit. Another thing about this church of Leodysa was a poor water supply. That's why it was easy. It was easy for the the church of Leodysa or the city of Leodysia to be attacked from enemies because all they had to do was cut off their water supply. And they knew that they weren't going to make it. If lukewarm water wasn't disgusting enough, at least it was water. But that some an enemy would come in and begin to cut off their water supply and they were no match for that enemy. That's why the leaders of the Leodysian people and the Leodysian church were always accommodating really nice to potential enemies. They always want to negotiate because they knew that they could easily come in and take their water supply and eventually hold them captive. but have come to tell us if we're not going to quench the spirit of the almighty God. It's not time to compromise. It's time to fight against the false doctrine and false winds of this culture. It's not time. How do we quit? How do we not quench the spirit of the almighty God? Do not give in to the spirit of compromise to your faithfulness, compromise to your worship, compromise to how you live. That's how you don't quench >> the spirit of the living God. >> But that's a church. But then we see some attitudes. And I'm getting back. And for all you Beckham wanderers, I'm 16 out of 31 pages right here. There are some attitudes. There are some attitudes. There you are. I'm glad you join us for page 16, Bob. There are some attitudes that can quench the presence of God. Matthew 24:1 the first nine words like I said and Jesus went out and departed from the temple and his disciples came to him for to show him the buildings of the temple and Jesus said unto them see not all these things see this beautiful Ephesus here verily I say unto you there shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be tro thrown down this was the last time that Jesus would walk out at the temple in a few moments ago Jesus begins to the last chapter man if there's ever a sermon to just go out on a bang Jesus just delivered it Jesus just looked to the religious leaders the the Pharisees and the s the scribes and the Pharisees and he began to tell them what they need to hear. He began to tell them a spirit that could quench the spirit or an attitude that can quench the spirit. Here's what he begins to say for I have time to go through them all, but here's an attitude that will quench the spirit from moving. And boy, was Jesus's last sermon a good one to go out on. Matthew 23 and 13. But woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites. You're just a bunch of actors. For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men. For you neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye in ye them that are entering to go in. Sign number one of quenching the spirit is when we think this is just for us and nobody else. The Pharisees had had made made the law of God so hard to live by that them themselves weren't good enough to follow the own the own rule that they were preaching and the own rule that they were putting over people. But the Pharisees and the scribes begin to say, "Hey, this is just for us. Yeah, we're going to make everybody else feel good, but this relationship with God business, this church business was just for us four and no more." or my favorite, the Holy Trinity, me, myself, and I. That gospel that changed our lives, church, if we're not going to quench the spirit of God, the gospel that changed our life is good enough for every single person that we come in contact with. A good way to keep a church in revival is not through extra services, but it's through revival in your workplace. It's revival in your school place. this revival in your families. That's a way we can keep this thing rolling and the fire. Come on. If God could save you, I know God could save the drug addict and God could save the addicted. Come on. If God could put you in your right mind, God could change somebody and put them in theirs. Verse number verse number 13 tells us that. Verse number 14. Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites. You're just a bunch of actors. For you devour widows houses, and for a pretense make long prayer. Therefore, ye shall receive the greater damnation. Jesus is just getting stretched out. He's just getting warmed up. Sign number two of quenching the spirit. When our motives are not pure, our fire will eventually go out. Somewhere along the way, the scribes and the Pharisees had convinced themselves that they were a good doing a good work by taking the widows houses and using their houses to make extra money on the side. They justified their actions by taking care of the widows. But really, their motives were all about themselves. And if our motives are not pure, the spirit of the living God will eventually go out. I heard a drummer say, and none of the drummers from our church, I was at a conference and we just had a service where the altar call, I was playing drums, and the altar call was two hours 30 minutes. Like I'm my forearms are cramping, got sweat everywhere. And he said, "Man," kid comes up to me and says, "Man, I just wish I could play one night when a shout be beat begins to happen." Thinking, "Dear Lord, did you just see two and a half hours?" Okay. And I can begin to think that's the wrong motive. Maybe that's the reason why it's not happening because you think it's all about you. It's all about you and your little licks and chops. And some of you are thinking, "Is that a cut of steak?" No. All right. But some of us, our motives are not pure. And maybe that's why the spirit is being quenched. Maybe it's when we look for souls, we don't we don't think we begin to think about what we could get out of them. Rather, our motive should be what can God do through them. >> And now Jesus Jesus is he's getting warmed up. He's had some practice swings there and he's walking up. He's going to give it all he got. Verse number 15. Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, you actors. For ye can pass sea and land to make one procelite. You go and try to witness and you make one. You do you go to extremes to get that one person. I'm sure they begin to feel good. Yeah, that's us. And ye make him twofold more than the child of hell than yourselves, >> Jesus. All right. All right, Jesus. What are you trying to tell us? Sign number three of quenching the spirit is being a negative influence on people you're trying to bring to church. >> Lord, help me. Lord, help me. If you're trying to witness to some Ed Aubberies and you only leave a 5% tip, for God's sake, don't tell them you go to First Apostolic Church. >> Tell them you go to the First Church of Satan or something. Don't Don't bring them here. >> All right? If you can't be kind to somebody, don't start inviting them to church. >> We really got to ask ourselves, does the church need one more of me? >> You know, I love everybody here. I tried to buddy you up earlier, okay? Just does the church need one more of me? Because when I begin to invite somebody, I begin to influence somebody. And I know you have the knowledge of God, and I hope we all do. But you can teach what you know, but you impart who you are. So who you're imparting to that person is very important. Because the scribes and the Pharisees begin to make scribes and Pharisees. I hope to God that the most genuine humble people begin to catch a a spirit of revival because we need more humble people and more hungry people and more hunger and more hunger. Why? It re reproduces itself over and over. >> Amen. Next one. We'll go to verse 25. Wo to you scribes, Pharisees, hypocrites. For you may clean the outside of the cup of the platter, but within they are full of extortion, excess thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and the platter, and the outside them may be cleaned also. Woe unto you scribes, Pharisees, hypocrites, for you are likened to whited supplers, which indeed appear beautiful on the outward, but within are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. Sign four of a quenching the spirit of God is this. You look the part on the outside, but inside you're full of a dead heart. We want revival to Terry. And I don't get me wrong, you know good and well. I'm not saying what what on the outside is not important. But if the outside looks good and the inside you're spiritually dead, the outside looks holy, on the inside it looks ugly, on the outside it looks like it's righteous living, but on the inside your heart is full of dead man's bones. The revival in your life will not last. The revival in your family will not last. What good is it to give service to God if my heart is not toward him and my heart is not facing to him? What good is me dressing the part if I cannot act the part inwardly? What good is my long hair if my heart is ugly and my heart is bitter? What good is me as a man lifting up holy hands on the outside, but on the inside I'm full of anger and full of lust and full of pride. What good is it? I'm nothing better than a Pharisee. I can look the part, but I can't act the part. God, help us tonight to not only have it on the outside, but the outside is a is a produce, is a fruit of the inside. What we've got to work on is a holy heart. And it comes out. And when you get a holy heart, it's contagious to every single person around you. It's contagious to your friends. It's contagious to your children when it starts inward and works outward. Verse number 28. And even so, ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within you are full of hypoc hypocrisy and iniquity. Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites. Build ye the tombs of the prophets. Listen, this is my we we'll skip to my last sign after this. Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you build the tombs of the prophets and garnish the supplers of the righteous. What what Jesus is talking about is they would find where the prophets of the old were were buried and they begin to make tombs to celebrate the prophets of the Old Testament. If they could find where they believe some righteous man was buried, they would make a tomb there and celebrate them. But Jesus flips the page, says, "If we had been in the days of our father, we we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets." He goes on to say that you would have been right there killing the prophets. But what I've come to tell us about quenching the spirit is that it was easy for them to recognize the prophets of old. It was easy for them to recognize the righteous living of saints of old, but they could not recognize that the prophet of all prophets was standing right in front of them. They could not recognize that the righteous man men of of of of all righteous men were standing right in front of them. God, help us to recognize that God is moving right in front of us. Yes, I am thankful for what God has done. But I recognize right now that God is not done. God is not done moving. I recognize the old time messages, but I recognize God is moving right now. Sign number five of quenching the spirit. They could not recognize God's presence right in front of them. Jesus says, "Yeah, you build tombs for the prophets, but what about the prophet of all prophets that's standing right in front of you?" Yeah, you build you you build tombs. You have celebrations for righteous men. You give them tombs and you give them just this big thing, but you can't recognize God in the flesh standing right in front of them. Tonight, I'm all about exuberant worship. I'm all about demonstrative worship. But we need to recognize that God is not always in the shout. God is not always in the running of aisles. And I love it. And we got to continue it. But there are some times when we need to recognize that God may be moving in your conversations. We need to recognize that God may be moving in the lives of your co-workers and and God may be moving on your children at home, but we're so focused on where we know we think we know where God is moving, but in reality, God is moving in other places. Tonight, as the musicians come, you know, I've I've preached on the scribes and the Pharisees, and I know what some of you are thinking. Brother Namy, you're a good man. this thought hasn't come to your mind. You're thinking, I I'm not a scribe. I'm not a Pharisee. I'm one of them disciples. Yeah, I could agree with you. And this is what Jesus would say. This is what Jesus would say to the disciples. He would say to the disciples, sign number seven, Luke 17:1 said unto the disciples, impossible that offenses will come, but woe unto whom unto him through whom they come. It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, that he should offend one of these little ones. Take heed to yourselves, thy brother. thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him. If you like that part, would you say amen? >> And if you repent, >> forgive him. >> If you like that part, would you say amen? >> Oh, come on now, pastor. He say it's true. I believe you over there. Somebody over there. And has trespassed against thee seven times in a day. Seven times in a day. Do I still have any amens? >> It's getting quiet. Turn again to thee and somehow you won't forgive your wife. Two times in a day. I don't know. I just I'm preaching to somebody tonight. And saying I repent, thou shalt forgive him. The apostle said, Lord, would you increase our faith? Man, these guys have seen Jesus do miraculous things. They've seen Jesus open the blinded eyes. They've they've seen Jesus raise the dead. They've or the ace. They've seen Jesus do crazy things that they can't even comprehend. Matter of fact, they get to the end of it all. They said, "Man, we don't even have enough pages. The books can't contain what all we saw Jesus do." Then Jesus tells them about forgiveness. and they're thinking, "Lord, increase our faith." Come to tell somebody tonight, I I feel a somber move of the Holy Ghost about to take place in this altar. But forgiveness, this the the final step I want to tell you about that can quench the Holy Ghost from moving in your life is unforgiveness. The thing that will stop God moving in your life the quickest is unforgiveness. Somewhere along the way, we're like the disciples. Lord, increase our faith because forgiveness takes the greatest faith to accomplish. The miracles, brother step, that Jesus would perform after Calvary only took 39 stripes upon his back. But for you to forgive me and me to forgive you and for God to forgive you and forgive me of sins, it wouldn't just take 39 stripes upon his back, but it would take his life for me to be able to forgive you and you to be able to forgive me. I've come to tell us the highest level of faith as disciples that we have to have is the ability to forgive one another because the revival church is not about perfect people but it's about imperfect people and through living for God it says it doesn't say it might come but it's when it comes offenses will come but woe unto him whom through they come. I've heard somebody said before in an office I they begin to talk to us about the offense that they have and were they done wrong? Absolutely. But they begin to say over and over again, Pastor Eric said, I'll just get over it. I'll just get over you. Give me some time. I'll just get over it. I felt God speak to me a few weeks ago, about two weeks now, and God spoke to me so clearly about forgiveness. And he spoke to me and he said, "You will never get over it unless you get through it." And somewhere along the way, we try to get around the fence. Maybe it's around that person. Maybe it's sitting in a different section of that person. Maybe it's not having conversations with that person. You get you try to get around it, but you will never get over it. You will never get around it. The only way to get it out of your heart is to go through it through the power of forgiveness. God, I feel for the Holy Ghost in this room right now. Come on. If you'll forgive tonight, the Holy Ghost fire will start in your heart again. If you'll forgive tonight, something begins to stir up deep inside of you. But it takes faith. Be so kind to stand with me after the Holy Ghost about to move in this room. How bad it is when we don't forgive. bitterness, all those things which the Bible says, the Bible says looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God, lest any root, one root of bitterness could change your life. One root of bitterness, one person could change your life. But one step of faith called forgiveness could change your life. As bad as unforgiveness is, when we forgive, something equally as powerful can happen when we make that decision to forgive. I love this. I've never seen this in scripture before. And I want to finish with this scripture. When Jesus is is on the cross with Tony, he's got the power. He knows he's got the power. He's God in in a body. And he lets those people drive those nails through his hands. He lets those people drive those nails through his feet. It's pain that he could have took care of in an instant. And they begin to say, "Hey, let's just call down the angels to get you off that cross." They begin to mock him. They put the crown of thorns and not only set it on his head, but they took a rod and beat that thing in his head. these these thorns about this big. They begin to beat him over and over again. Gave him a a crown fitting for a king. But what Jesus did was so powerful. Jesus began to say, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. Father, I feel the Holy Ghost in this place right now. Father forgive them for they know not what they do. Jesus when all the sins come upon him. He says, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" And the Bible says, he says, he says to the father, "Receive my spirit." And when forgiveness was complete, something powerful happened. Now, Matthew, he's not orange. Matthew is gold green or whatever. He's brother Ericson. He's a list. He's organized. He's doing everything by everything in structure. He's the man that's writing the book by by structure. But somehow for the exon, the gold goes away from Matthew. I can't explain it. He's talking about different events and different times. He puts them all into two verses, three verses. Matthew 27:51. If you'll put that on the screen for me. Matthew 27:51. Once forgiveness took place, look what happened. And behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. Not from the bottom to the top, but it was to the top to the bottom. It was like heaven was coming down. Why? What happened? What was different? Forgiveness took place. When some when you forgive, something happens from there to right here. And it begins to change us. Oh, but it gets better. It gets better than that, my friends. And the earth did that quake and the rocks rent. Something not only in heaven be to change but something on earth begin to shake as well. Matthew is a guy of order but then he start he's not even talked about the resurrection yet. But he throws in something that happened after the resurrection and the graves were open. Verse 52. And many bodies of the saints which slept and arose and came out of the graves after his resurrection. Matthew has to tie it all in together and went into the holy city and appeared unto many. If you'll put that graphic on the screen for me. When you forgive, three things happen. When you make the decision to forgive, forgiveness affects three different dimensions. When you forgive, the heavens are opened. And the heavens, oh my God, are open from the top all the way to the bottom. I know you've had trouble feeling the Holy Ghost, but I've come to ask you, is there any unforgiveness in your life? Because when you forgive tonight, the heavens are going to be open for the top. Oh, but it not only affects heaven. Bible says, "Brother Hammond, the earth did quake and some hard things on earth begin to break. They broke in two." What happened? Why did the rocks they had those rocks had sat there for thousands of years? But what happened? What made those hard things begin to break in two? When a perfect man begin to speak forgiveness to somebody who has wronged him. When he begin to speak forgiveness to people all across time that has sinned against him. Brother, the earth shook. Oh, but then the final thing. The graves were open. Dead things come to life when you forgive. Impossible dead situations begin to change when you forgive. When you make the decision to forgive. If you want to feel the Holy Ghost tonight, come on, begin to forgive some people who have wronged you. If you want to have some impossible situations begin to change in your life tonight, begin to forgive somebody. Come on, every head be bowed, every eye be closed. I've come to tell the disciples of Jesus Christ tonight that the most powerful decision you can make to not quench the spirit of God is to begin to forgive. Begin to speak to that person and say, "I forgive them." Begin to speak to that person that has wronged you and say, "I forgive." Come on. Do you need heaven to be open tonight? Why don't you come and get forgiveness right now? Come on. Do you need heaven to be open from the the top to the bottom? It's nothing that you can do to rip heaven open, but it's only something that God can open for you. And it only comes through forgiveness. Come on right now. Do you need heaven? Do you need earth to shake? Is there a situation that you cannot get around? You cannot get over. You tried to get over in your 20s and you tried to get over it in your 30s, but you recognize you're not going to get over it. You got to get through it. If you forgive tonight, something will begin to break. Oh, and that spiritual life you used to have is dead. I've come to tell you, through forgiveness, it can be resurrected. Because dead things come alive when forgiveness is pronounced. Dead things come alive when forgiveness is preached. Come on, these altars are open right now. Come on. Maybe it was something years ago. I've come to tell you, don't quench the spirit. Come on, don't be found guilty of of not forgiving. Come on, the heavens are going to open. Come on, the earth is going to shake. Come on, the grave is going to give life again. Come on. Maybe your prayer life is is is in the grave tonight. Come on. Why don't you try forgiveness to somebody? Come on, try forgiveness to somebody who's wronged you. Come on. Come on, Would you lift your voice right now before they begin to sing? Come on. The heavens are opening for somebody's life right now. Come on. The heavens are opening for somebody. Come on. There's nothing that you can do to get in the presence of God. The thou has to be ripped from the top to the bottom. It's only something that God can do. In your feeble attempt to get a hold of heaven, it's something that only God can do. Forgive them for they know not what they do. Maybe it's you need to receive forgiveness tonight. Come on. Ask a perfect God to forgive you of all your sins. Come on. Don't let the fire go out in your life. Come on. That's it. Would you lift your voice, church, for just a moment? Come on. There's healing happening right now. Come on. There's healing happening right now in this place. Come on. Forgiveness, come on, is a daily decision. Come on. Maybe you thought you got over that situation years ago, but forgiveness is a daily decision. Come on. You need the heavens to open back up. Forgive. Come on. You need the earth to shake. Forgive. Come on. Maybe some dead things in your life that you recognize you've lost. Forgive. Forgive. Forgive. Come on. Right now. Lift your voice to him. >> >> Come on across this room right now. Would you lift your hands? Come on. Could you lift your voice right now? Come on. The greatest act, the greatest miracle can take place and that's through forgiveness. Come on. You can have healing in your marriage. Did you forgive? Come on. You can have healing in your life. Did you forgive that parent? Come on. If you forgive that family member. Come on. When's the last time you felt heaven? Come on. Maybe it was before the offense. Come on. Forgive. Forgive. Forgive. The heavens are opening. The earth is shaking. Come on. Hell is being shook. Glory. And maybe that's a mental miracle or a a spiritual miracle, but it's going to take the greatest level of faith. And that's not the faith to see the blinded eyes open, but that's the faith to forgive somebody. I believe you can be set free in the name of Jesus Christ this very night by the power of forgiveness. Come on. Would you lift your hands right now? Come on. Maybe it's somebody that comes to mind. Maybe you're having trouble forgiving yourself. Come on. could just speak the words, "I forgive them." Come on. I forgive them. I forgive. They knew what they were doing, but I forgive them. They knew that they were doing me wrong, but I forgive them. The presence of the Lord is here right now. God's moving on certain people, but the moment the moment that we think a message is not for us is the moment that we fall right into everything he just read. I can't help but be stirred in my spirit and I'm going to give account for every word that I say behind this mic. But God forbid we ever come in this house and just stand here in his presence. Nothing will quench the spirit more than us just standing here just looking around just wait. I I'm sorry. I love you. We've heard from the word of the Lord tonight. But God is more than just something that we come and spectate. God is more than just something that we come in and watch him work. Can somebody I wish you'd throw your hands up and if you believe this message is for you and we all ought to believe this message is for us. It's for you say I don't know that this apply. It might apply to you tomorrow. There might be something that gets stirred up in you when you start praying. I wish you'd lift your every man, woman, boy, and girl, every young person. The worst thing we can do, young people, is come in here and act like it's just another altar service. It's just another sun this Sunday night. No. No. It's an opportunity to to not stop the presence of God from continuing to move. Come on. Your prayer could set an atmosphere that could loose somebody next to you. Your prayer and your worship right now could help deliver somebody next to you. Come on, let's see. Grab somebody next to you. Grab the hand. Lift up your voice. Pray in the Holy Ghost right now. Come on. on a deep move of the Holy Ghost is not confined to a conference or some special event. All it takes is a little bit of expectation. Say, "God, I want to see a little bit more tonight. God, I want to see a demonstration of you." Come on. I wish you high wish right now. I feel the presence of the Lord. I wish every musician, every singer, every production person, if you just, we don't have to have any music right now. If you just lift your hands right where you're at, all the way up in the production room. We don't want anything on this campus to stop the moving of the presence of God. We don't want anybody, anyone, anything to keep God's presence from being a priority. Come on. That's it right there. Come on. That's it right there. Come on, be a part. Be a participator. Be a participator right now in the name of Jesus. Come on. You can step into it right now. It's here. It's here. What you need is here right now. Oh, this is a perfect time to grab somebody. Pray for them. This is a perfect time to grab your family. Pray for them. We want the spirit of God to go into our home. We want it to be in our car on the way out. Come on, young person. That's it. Let the Lord touch you tonight. That's it. Mama, pray over your kids tonight. Why? Why miss an opportunity? Oh, in the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. God's touching our students right now. Come on. I'm asking you right now if you're in this room and you're you would be at all comfortable, would you lift your hands one more time and would you lift your voice to heaven louder than you have all night? Come on, just ask. Oh God, oh God, oh God. Oh God, oh God. Oh, stir us up. Oh God, stir us up. Oh God, stir us up, oh God, stir us up, oh God. Lord, shake what needs to be shaken. Stir our hearts tonight, God. Stir our hearts tonight, God. Foreign speech. Foreign speech. Holy Ghost. Come on, keep on praying right here. I feel the Lord wants me to speak to you about something right here. Nothing will quench the spirit like complacency. Nothing will quench a spirit like when complacency. Complacency is being lukewarm when you don't think you're wrong and you still go through the motions and you still come to church but you don't have any fire within you. That's what complacency is. The Lord said, "I would rather you be cold. I'd rather you backslide 100% because at least you'd have a chance of being a prodal and coming to your senses. But if you just keep on coming to church and you quench the fire and you find a back road to sit on, you're never going to find yourself in a pit. You're going to keep on finding yourself in the house of God, but there's not going to be fire." Come on, somebody. You got to say, "God, stir up the gift inside of me. Stir up the spirit inside of me. Don't let me be content with being lukewarm. Don't let me be content with being complacent. I refuse to be lukewarm. I want the spirit stirred up. I want the fire living inside of me. Come on, somebody. Don't settle. Don't settle for just coming to church. We got to be the church. Uh don't settle for just coming into a house. Uh we got to be the church. Come on. Come on. Come on. Casual dress uh brings casual worship. Casual dress brings casual worship. But when we come to the houses and say, "God, I'm we're yours. God, I've come to this place, Lord, to give you total praise and total honor. God, I've come to this place to see what you're going to do in my life, what you're going to do in my family's life." That's when God says, "I see a church that's on fire. I see a church that's on fire. I see a church I can move through. I can use my power and my authority through. Come on, one more time. I hear you crying out, but one more time. Lift up your hands and throw your head back unashamedly. Come on, Pastor No preaches so well. Oh God, I refuse to quench the spirit that you put inside of me. I refuse to quench it. I refuse to allow that fire to to to cease and to go out. But God, I'm going to keep the fire. Fire. Never let the fire never let it go out, God. I'm going to let it burn for you, Jesus. I'm going to let it burn. I'm going to let it burn. I'm going to let it burn. Come on, say that. Come on, say that prayer right there. God, I'm going to let it burn. Come on. If you've got the Holy Ghost, if you got the Holy Ghost, come on, let me hear that holy tongue break forth out of your lips right now. If you've got that Holy Ghost fire inside of you, come on. Oh, hold it on the inside. Come on, let it break forth, burst forth. Oh, in another tongue. In another tongue, he's going to save his people in another tongue with another tongue. Jesus. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. Oh, light a fire inside of me, oh God. Oh, light a fire inside of me, oh God. Jesus. Not just tonight, God. Not just in this altar, but God, our prayer right now is a tomorrow morning, on a Monday morning, on the way to school, and on the way to work. God, you're going to keep that fire lit within us in Jesus name.
