Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

The text: repentance and confession

  • He opens with the promise that the Lord is not slack concerning his promise, but is longsuffering, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
  • His second text sets our part: if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
  • He announces his thought for the evening: the promise and provision of forgiveness, and prays for the anointing of the Holy Ghost to minister.

Scriptures: 2 Peter 3:9; 1 John 1:9

A promise-making, promise-keeping, providing God

  • God can be approached from many directions, like the facets of a diamond, but tonight two of his attributes are the subject: he is a promise maker and a promise keeper who stays by what he has said.
  • The first promise already stands in Genesis: the seed of the woman will bruise the serpent's head — a promise of a Messiah to come — and all the promises of God are yea and amen; he that cannot lie promised eternal life before the world began, and he will multiply and bless his people as he has promised them.
  • He is also a providing God: blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, and my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory.

Scriptures: Genesis 3:15; 2 Corinthians 1:20; Titus 1:2; Deuteronomy 1:11; Psalms 68:19; Philippians 4:19

The covenant God cut by himself

  • God called Abram out of his country and promised to make of him a great nation, to bless him, make his name great, and bless all the families of the earth in him.
  • Abram carried the promise but had no seed, and asked how he should know he would inherit; God had him divide the sacrifices, and when the sun went down and a deep sleep fell on Abram, a smoking furnace and a burning lamp passed between the pieces — God made the covenant with Abram by himself.
  • God put Abram to sleep because the promise was too great for a frail man to keep: he made the promise and then provided the means of its fulfillment himself.
  • Hebrews looks back on it: because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, and confirmed the immutability of his counsel by an oath — by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we have a strong consolation.

Scriptures: Genesis 12:1-3; Genesis 15:1-18; Hebrews 6:13-18

Faithful: the promise of forgiveness

  • In the confession verse, 'he is faithful' is the promise: God is faithful in temptation to make a way of escape, and we hold fast our profession without wavering, for he is faithful that promised.
  • His faithfulness is not measured by our performance: the God who forgave a child at an altar or a young person at a youth camp is just as faithful to forgive the backslider who returns after thirty-five or forty years away.
  • We do not have to confess to men or to priests, but to him; and if we are honest in our confession he is faithful — he will not turn anyone away.

Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 10:13; Hebrews 10:23

Just: the provision of forgiveness

  • The second word is 'just': not only that God is holy and good, but that he stands in a judicial, lawful position to extend the mercy he has promised — rendering to each his due.
  • Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many, and Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God; on the cross he cut the covenant and paid the price the law of sin and death demanded.
  • For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
  • The unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God — and such were some of you, he says, but ye are washed, ye are sanctified, ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
  • When the prodigal came home, the father never mentioned what the son had done — only the older brother did; there was forgiveness in the father's house.

Scriptures: Hebrews 9:28; 1 Peter 3:18; Romans 3:23-24; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

He will take you back

  • Nobody believes the devil would refuse a backslider for being overqualified — he would take back someone who has been in church ten minutes or a hundred and ten years — yet Satan has done nothing to deserve a soul: he paid no price, he has not loved, he has not forgiven.
  • The God who robed himself in flesh and climbed on an old rugged tree will not say to the one who returns: you have been out too long, you have gone too far, you have done too much.
  • If we will come to him, he is faithful and he is just; so he closes by calling everyone who has ever needed mercy to thank the Lord for his grace — it is a promise and it is a provision, and he will not lie.

verses uh a bunch so uh we'll see how that goes second Peter chapter 3 verse 9 the writer said the Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some men count slackness but is longsuffering to us word not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance that's a good place to come to repentance he's not slack concerning his promise and not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance 1 John 1 and N if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness if we confess he's faithful and just to forgive tonight I'd like to bring to you just this thought that I will go around and and close back up to the promise and provision of forgiveness the promise and provision of forgiveness Lord Jesus thank you for your goodness to us thank you for your love to us oh God thank you for your presence presence that is ever here thank you God for visiting with us and I ask that the Holy Ghost without you nothing can be done of Eternal consequence God we depend upon you and we trust you right now we ask you in lovely name of Jesus would you mind clapping one more time before you're seated thank you the promise and power of forgiveness there are a lot of attributes that can be labeled to God he is kind he is strong he is powerful he's Mighty he's Eternal there's all kinds of names and attributes we could give to God like the facets of a diamond you can approach God from many many directions you can praise and worship God from various and different avenues that can lead you to the majesty and Glory of God's presence there's many wondrous things that can be declared about him but tonight for time's sake I just want to talk about a couple of things that I think that is very good for us to consider in relationship to God and one is he is a promis maker he is a promise keeper he is a God who will make a promise and he will stay by it that is quite the thing in today's culture and society when promises are so easily made and easier broken I am glad that we serve a God who is a promisee keeping God as a matter of fact just a couple things let me throw out in regards to his promise tonight in Genesis chapter 3 the very beginning of the word of God after Adam and Eve has fell in the garden Satan has caused Eve to trip up and Adam has sinned with her there is in Genesis chter 3 a promise given to the serpent that one will come and he will bruise his heel but the seed of the woman will bruise his head it was a promise of a messiah that would come long long ago other promises 2 Corinthians 1: 20 the writer say for all the promises of God in him are yay and in him amen unto the glory of God by us Titus 1 and2 says in Hope of eternal life which God that canot lie promised before the world began Deuteronomy 1 And1 The Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are this is him talking to the children of Israel he said may the Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as you are and bless you as he hath promised you throughout the scripture the Bible is replete of the promises of God you will find promises made by God throughout the word of God there are so many and so numerable we could not attempt to consider them all but precis to say this God is a promisee keeping God not only is he a promisee keeping God but he is a god that is a provider he is a provider Psalms 68 and 19 blessed be the Lord who daily Loth us with benefits Philippians 4:19 the writer says it this way but my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory he is a promisee keeping God and he is a providing God he is a god that is multifaceted but tonight these two words I believe are going to play a great important part on the power of God's willingness to forgive and if I need God to do anything I need him to be willing to forgive so I understand quickly that he is a God that makes promises he is also a god that is able and willing to provide for his people having understood those two words I'm going to bring this scripture verse to illustrate what I'm speaking of I want to quickly demonstrate and show to us tonight how this promisee keeping and godly provider is sufficient in our lives by turning our attention to Genesis CH 12 these verses in Genesis to me profoundly display the concept of God's promises and provision in Genesis CH 12 we understand that God is talking to Abram to Abraham and this is where the abrahamic Covenant comes into play God makes a promise with a man Abraham was the friend of God and God has called Abram out of the land of er the CES and God is going to make a special Covenant with Abram and God in Genesis CH 12 gives him a promise Genesis 12: 1-3 now the Lord had has said unto Abram get thee out of thy country and from thy Kindred and from thy Father's House unto a land that I will show thee and I will make of thee a great nation and I will bless thee and make thy name great and thou shalt be a blessing and I will bless them that bless thee and curse him that curseth thee and in thee shall all the families of the Earth be blessed this is where the scripture begins to lay out the abrahamic Covenant this is where God is making a promise with a man that will provide a nation that will bear his name and God is looking at this man and saying I will make a promise of a great nation for you and so Abram carries that promise with him but God is Not only a god of promise but God is also the god who's able to perform the promises that he makes in Genesis chapter 15 Abram has carried This Promise with him and now God is about to show how he will demonstrate through his provision and Covenant keeping how he will perform the promise that he has made several verses if you'll indulge me in in Genesis chap 15 this is if you will the provision to the promise that was made Genesis 15 And1 after these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision saying fear not Abram I am thy shield and thy exceeding reward and Abram said Lord God what will thou give me seeing I go childless and the steward of my house is is this Eleazar of Damascus and Abram said behold to me thou Hast given no seed and lo one born in my house is mine Heir and behold the word of the Lord came unto him saying this shall not be thine air but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine Heir and he brought him forth abroad and said look now toward the heaven and tell the Stars if thou are able to number them and he said unto him so s so shall thy seed be and he believed in the Lord and He count it to him for righteousness and the Lord said unto him I am the Lord that brought thee out of the earth of the Cales to give thee this land to inheritance and he said Lord God whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it Abram and God have talked together God has made him a promise and God said I want to make a seed out of you that will be a multitude and bless the whole earth and Abram now stands before God and Abram says God I have no seed This Promise seems to be falling on deaf ears This Promise seems to be falling on Barren wounds God I have no seed how will This Promise be that you have made and so God in verse eight he says Lord God whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it and God begins to talk and he said unto him take me a heer of three years old and a she goat of three years old and a ram of three years old and a turtle dove and a young pigeon and he took unto him all these and divided them in the midst and laid each piece one against the other but the birds divided he not and when the fowls came down upon the carcass Abram drove them away and when the sun was going down a deep sleep fell upon Abram and lo an horor of great Darkness fell upon him and he said speaking of God unto Abram know of assurity that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs and Shall Serve them and they shall afflict them 400 years and also that Nation whom they Shall Serve will I judge and afterward shall they come out with great substance and thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace and thou shalt be buried in the good old age but in the fourth generation they shall come hither again for the iniquity of the amorites is not yet full and when it came to pass that when the sun went down and it was dark Behold a smoking furnace and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces in the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram saying unto thy seed have I given this land from the river of Egypt unto the Great River the river Euphrates what I've just read is a wonderful tremendous story this is where God says to Abram it is time to make a covenant to endorse the promise I have given you it is time for me to provide the means to fulfill the promise and God said Abram get some sacrifices and Abram did and he took those sacrifices and he divided them in half and he laid one part on the one side and the other part on the other but the birds he divided not the custom was that two who would make a covenant would lock arms if you will and they would pass between the sacrifices together thus signifying that both were promising to fulfill what they had declared to do it was a custom it was a blood Covenant that they would cut and divide the animals but on this occasion the Bible said that as the night came forth that God caused Abram to fall asleep an unusual method here because Abram was waiting to walk between the sacrifices as a covenantal sign to God that God I'm going to be your people I'm going to do what I've promised to do for you and to you in return but the Bible said that as the darkness Rose and Abram fell asleep the Bible said that there passed between the sacrifices a smoking furnace and a burning lamp and as those two as those two items passed between the sacrifice God made a covenant with Abraham to fulfill his promise why did Abram go off to sleep why did God say Abram step to the side and go go to sleep and why did he pass between the sacrifices by himself because he knew as much as Abram wanted to please God in perfectness as much as he knew that Abram wanted to give God his undivided abilities and life that Abram was a man that was frail Abram could not keep the promise that this was going to make God said to Abram Abram I'm making a promise to you and this promise is too great for men to keep this promise is too great for men to fail I will make this commitments and promise all by myself so in this cutting of the Covenant God gave a promise and then God made a provision he provided a way for that promise to be fulfilled by making a covenant with Abram how does Hebrews chapter 6 describe the story I just read Hebrews when it looks back to the story that we just read describes it thusly Hebrews 6 and13 it says for when God made promise to Abraham because he could swear by no greater he swear by himself saying surely blessing I Will Bless thee and multiplying I will multiply and so after he had patiently endured he obtained the promise for men verily swear by the greater and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all Strife wherein God willing more abundantly to show unto The Heirs of Promise the immutability of his counsel confirmed it by an oath the word immutability means unchanging where with God willing more abundantly to show unto The Heirs of Promise the unchanging of his counsel confirmed it by an oath that by two immutable things in which it was impossible for God to lie we might have a strong consolation who have fled for Refuge to lay upon the whole hope that is set before us Hebrews dictated in the New Testament in a short abbreviated form what Abram and God did in the Old Testament Hebrews said God made a covenant with Abram to declare him a holy nation and a righteous people that would bear the seed that would deliver the Messiah but God knew that man could not keep up his end of the bargain so God said Abram go to sleep I'm going to pass between these sacrifices all by myself God declared by himself that he could keep the Covenant all by himself God said I can make a promise and then I can be the provider of that promise all by myself tonight we serve not only a promise keeping and a promis making God but we serve a god that is a covenant making a providing God he told Abram I will provide and the writer said that by two immutable things in which it is impossible for God to lie we might have a strong consolation the two immutable things one was the promise God made the second was the commitments and Covenant that God cut by himself to secure the promise he made so what God did was God said number one I'm going to make a promise and my word is true and what I say I will do I will do that was the first part of the unchanging thing number two God said you know what I'm just going to double up on this and I'm going to make a covenant my word is true my promise is true but I'm going to do something even better than that I'm going to make a covenant and a promise with myself and by myself and between those two things between the promise and my Covenant it is impossible for me to lie so I'm laying a quick I pray Foundation to let us know that God is a promise making keeping God and he is a God that makes provision and providing through the power of the the Covenant that he made and because he's promising and because he makes a provision the Bible said because of those two immutable things it is impossible for him to lie so with that understanding I jump back to our first verse of scripture in John our second verse in John 1 and9 we understand of course as I read in Peter that Jesus looks for and Longs for us to come to repentance it's not his will that any should perish but that all of us come to repentance and in John that is the promise if you will that his declaration is if we will come to him he will grant repentance but in John 1 and one the writer said if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteous iess tonight I'm quickly going to turn over the page and talk about this verse with the understanding that I laid quickly about God being a promisee keeper and a covenant maker this verse right here declares to us I believe something that ought to encourage every man and every woman that's in this room everyone who's never walked through those doors who has never repented who's never been born again this scripture should encourage you and if you have backslid and if you walked away away from God this scripture should encourage you because this scripture shows us the promise and the provision of forgiveness what do I mean by saying that the writer said in 1 John 1 and9 if we confess our sins that's Our obligation he's not going to do it for us if we want to enter into this relationship with him we've got to be willing to say God I need you God you're my help God you're my strength God you're my hope if we will confess if we will turn away if we will leave our paths of unrighteousness and any sins and faults that we have that is our first step but if and when we do that that unleashes a mighty powerful display of God's grace and mercy for the writer said if we confess our sins and then 1: n says if we confess our sins he is faithful that right there my friend is the first part of this verse that is the promise if you will he is faithful 1 Corinthians 10:13 says there hath no temptation taken you but such as common to man but God is faithful who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able but with the Temptation also make a way to escape that you may be able to Bear it he said if we will confess he is faithful that's the promise why is that a promise because he cannot go back on his faithfulness Hebrews 10 and 23 let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering for he is faithful that promised the first part of forgiveness is God's promise to be willing to forgive if he was not willing to forgive our prayers would be in vain if he was not willing to forgive there'd be no reason nor cause to even attempt it but not only is he willing but he is faithful that is the promised part of forgiveness he says if we confess our sins he is faithful to forgive us that is your promise Satan cannot go past that promise he cannot undo that promise your past mistakes cannot undo that promise God said he is faithful to forgive he is faithful what that means is if he was willing to forgive you when you walked in this church as a young child and you repented of your sins when you were 10 years old at an altar or you got the Holy Ghost when you were 15 at a at a youth Camp if he was faithful to forgive you and save you then if you backslide and leave the church and you're gone for 35 or 40 years he's just as faithful to forgive you when you come back at 50 when you come back at 60 as he was when you were 10 or 11 or 12 that's my promise he's faithful and because he can't change that I have a hope that the same God that would willingly forgive me in the past will forgive me in the future that is his promise because he is faithful that ought encourage somebody especially a backslider tonight to know the same God that would forgive you originally is the same God that will restore you because he is faithful he doesn't say you know what I don't feel like forgiving this week I don't feel like forgiving this service no you know what I don't feel like forgiving pornography tonight I don't feel like forgiving drug addiction tonight I don't feel like forgiving homosexuality tonight no I don't think I'll do that I just don't think I'm in the mood for that impossible with God because God is faithful he will not nor can he back up on his promise what he promised he would do he has completely offered himself Faithfully to do so that is the promise of forgiveness that's why Pastor preaches so eloquently and so hard about repentance and forgiveness why because God has promised that he is faithful to forgive don't let your guilty conscience talk you out of it don't let your past mistakes tell you well God won't forgive you you know you knew better when you did wrong you know God may have forgiven you when you was an ignorant Sinner and you didn't know any better but now you know better you did wrong you're a hypocrite you're a liar you're all of these things I don't know if God will do it the Bible said God is faithful his faithfulness is not predicated upon our manners methods or how we do things God is not stand there faithful depending on my works and my abilities he is faithful all by himself so do not come to the presence of God on your performance saying I'm not worthy of God's mercy I'm not worthy of God's forgiveness we know none of us are but that's not the predicate of his forgiveness it is his faithful promise to be the same that's how we can have hope because he is faithful and his promise is yay and amen that is the promise of forgiveness is that he is faithful I'm glad he's faithful because I've not always been faithful I'm glad he's not judging his forgiveness by Me by the way I act by the way I look sometimes but he judges his forgiveness Upon Our confession to him we don't have to confess to men we don't have to confess to priests we don't have to confess to anyone but to him and if we are honest in our confession he is faithful he is faithful he will not turn you away I have gone too far some may say I've gone beyond Mercy's line Grace's line and Mercy's line have gone too far some would say I would say to you that he is faithful do not go by how you feel do not go by circumstances if you confess if you turn toward him he is faithful period That's the promise but there's not only a promise of forgiveness but there is a provision of forgiveness he said and that scripture if we confess our sins he is faithful that's the promise that he's faithful to forgive but the second part says he is faithful and just to forgive why did it put in that second word because the promise needs a provision to strengthen the promise if you will not that he needs to strengthen it but he was willing in the Old Testament to show a promise and a covenant he was willing to offer a promise and an oath to show that what I say I will do I'm able to do the writer said if we confess our sins he is faithful that's the promise and just that is the provision the provision of forgiveness is that he is just now that word just generally in the Greek means virtuous innocent upright we think about somebody as just we think they're good uh everything is well and good and and that's and that's that's part of it but this word right here also secondarily in more reference to Jesus Christ and a more narrow Focus means this rendering to each his due and that in a and that's in a Judicial sense passing just judgment on others whether in words or expressed by the manner of doing the word just here not only means that God is Holy and he's good the word just means God is standing in a Judicial lawful just position to extend the mercy he has promised how is he able to be declared such how how is he able to declare himself just Hebrews 9 and 28 says Christ was once offered to Bear the sins of many and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation 1 Peter 3:18 for Christ also once suffered for sin the just for the unjust that he might bring us to God being put to death in the flesh but quickened by the spirit how does this verse give me a promise and a provision the reason why is because Jesus Christ fulfilled the demand of sin the law of sin and death declared Every Soul that sins must die but Jesus came and he gave us the law of Liberty and of life life in Christ Jesus how did he do it because he was the lamb slain before the foundation of the world he was the one that took upon him the cost and been the cost of sin's price he cut the Covenant on an Old Rugged Cross and when he was dying on an Old Rugged Cross and his blood was shed he paid the price for our sins he did not come to destroy the law the Bible said he came to fulfill the law and so when Jesus Christ rose up on the third day he was justified legally and judicially to say I have qualified for paying all of your sins that my friend is the provision of forgiveness he is faithful and just just not that he's just a good God not that he's just holy but he is judicially and lawfully able to apply his blood to our lives and we are made just through his sacrifice that is the provision of God just like he was unable to lie in the Book of Genesis when he made a promise and he cut a covenant he is not able to lie in this verse of forgiveness if he has promised to forgive and he has shed his blood on an old rugged tree he is faithful to do what he said he would do he paid the price for sin the sins of you and I were placed upon him the blood of bulls and goats of the Old Testament could not do away with sin it just pushed it ahead for a year but when Jesus Christ came and he climbed on an old rugged tree and he said father forgive them for they know not what they do he was making a promise and provision so when we stumbled in here on a Wednesday night and we've sinned and we've messed up he said I'm faithful and I'm able to deliver save heal and forgive that is the justce when we think about the justice of God it's easy to think about well if you sin you're going to pay oh God is just he's going to demand you pay for your sins just like that one old song I heard somebody say I'm going to get you for that that's the way we look at the justice of God sometimes we feel he is just to judge sins we feel he is legally appropriated and judicially set to hammer out the sins and make people pay for them and rightfully so any sin that is not repented of there is a recompense and there is a penalty for that that one will pay but but I'm come tonight to encourage someone this God is not more determined to judge you and your sin than he is to forgive you from your sin God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked he is not looking at you saying well you're going to pay I look forward to when you die I'm GNA kick you right in the Lake of Fire he's not doing that the same justice of God that Demands a penalty for sin is the same justice of God that demands forgiveness when requested because he is just in both sides as much as he is required to satisfy the judgments of God against sin because he made a promise and he made a covenant he is just as qualified to forgive sins does that make sense he is guaranteed himself not because we're Worthy not because we're white or black rich or poor carpenter white Smith it doesn't matter where we've come from the the the the the promises of God in him are yay and amen if we will confess our sins he is faithful he is promised he is just he is qualified to forgive us all of our sins because he is a faithful just God so tonight this is as good as GS go downhill from here some said some say he never was going uphill I understand this is the key to this verse when Satan tells you you're unworthy you're unqualified God won't forgive you just remind in this verse God made a promise and God not only made a promise but he's just in keeping the promise he is right to forgive me not because I deserve that ought to that ought to Humble every one of us when God stands there in the in in in in the the form of Jesus Christ and he forgives us it's nothing that we've done nothing that we've qualified for he did it all by himself and he qualifies us because he paid the price Jesus fulfilled the law the musicians would come please tonight let me ask you a quick question do any of you believe that if you've been in church a long time that you've ever been in church too long for the devil to ever accept you back well I've been in church for 35 years the devil don't want me there's no need to even think about backsliding the devil he ain't going to take me Backes anybody ever think that that no we all know that if you've been in church 10 minutes or 110 years he'll take you back he doesn't care he doesn't care well the devil doesn't ever go around saying well you know they sung really good in the choir you know they've shouted uh they're way too overqualified for me to take them back you know they they've baptized people they've rolled on the floor they've spoken tongues they've witnessed to people they're way too good for me to take back none of us ever ever would believe that we know he would take us back in a moment why would we not use that same concept to the mercies forgiveness of a God who would give himself on a cross you know Satan did nothing to inherit lost mankind except Rebel in heaven and he did that for his own pleasure Satan has done nothing to deserve anybody's Soul he hasn't paid a price he hasn't loved he hasn't forgiven Satan has done nothing to be worthy of the soul of a man or woman but yet we know he'll take us back but what about a God who came down if you to stand with me tonight what about a God who came and robed himself in flesh climbed on an old rugged tree was pierced hands and feet and a crown of thorns upon his head do we really think that when Satan would take us back so easily that a god who's done all that would not take us back well I can't go no I've been out of church too long I've went too far I've done too much if you knew what I did in private if you knew what I did in secrecy nobody would take me back the devil never said you were too good to go back do we think that the Lord who's made this promise would look got us and say you've been out too long you've gone too far I dare say not the very same God who gave himself on the cross has made a promise and a provision if we confess our sins it doesn't matter what it looks like how it sounds it doesn't matter how you drag yourself back to the presence of God whether he be a prodigal whether he be a king whether he be rich or poor it matters not but if we will come to him he is faithful he's not going to say not today he's not going to say I forgave you last time but not this time and he is just he has the the legal judicial Authority as the one who paid the price he paid the price that we might be just with him or the word is Justified Romans 3:23 he's speaking and at the conclusion of what he's saying he says for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God being justified freely by his grace though through the Redemption that is in Christ Jesus all have sinned but by the grace of Jesus we can be justified 1 Corinthians 6 and9 know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God you already know where I'm going be not deceived neither fornicators nor idolators adulterers effeminate nor abusers of themselves of mankind nor thieves Covetous drunkards revilers nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God sad long list isn't it and some of us could put our names right to the end of that list he said none of these will inherit the kingdom of God he says and to make the matters worse and he says such were some of you true some of us were this and that and much more he says some of you were just like that he says but you are washed you are Sanctified you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the spirit of our God tonight it matters not what you're going through where you've been what you've gone through what sins May trouble you what what what things what demons if you will may be on your Trail there is a God who is Justified to stand in this place I forgive I am faithful I love you I am willing to forgive the prodigal and if you would get ready to sing for me please the prodal comes home and when a prodal comes home two people there we know the story the father and the older son when the prodigal comes home the father does not mention what the son did and what he's been through all the father did was said let's kill the fatted calf let's play the music now the brother he mentioned what his what the prodigal did he said oh Dad he's been out there sleeping with harlots and doing all this and that the dad and never one time reminded him what he had done why because there was forgiveness in the father's house tonight I'm telling you there is power and provision in forgiveness if you've ever needed forgiveness if you've ever called upon the name of the Lord I want you to
