As One

we are session number two if you got your Bible you're gonna need it tonight we're going to the Book of John there's several several meaning verses here and I I off I pray about Lord help help me to know do I need to read it do I not does it need to be assume that everybody understands it and I just figure tonight's lesson as I was putting it together I feel like that that um feel like the Lord is leading us as a church family I mentioned a moment ago we have new couples new families connecting to our church we have new Ministries that have started we have more people involved now than we've ever had uh brother Duran pretty steadily now is coming to me I got two or three more that want to plug into music uh brother Dylan say I need five or six more in Media uh and he's getting help just a lot of people involved Sunday School classes and all I I'm 100 convinced that the Lord God is still on our side because of that we have to make sure that we truly understand the culture in which we live and God's plan for us living in this day never before has there been a day like today you know how I know that because this day's never been counted before right let's go to John 17. we're going to read almost all of this and there's a reason for it because I'm going to come back and I'm going to I'm going to talk directly about some things again tonight's lesson is session two on dedication and consecration uh can we begin over here brother Durham could you help me John chapter 17 verse 1 read a verse and go around and just kind of keep up guys so we don't have to sit here and tap our foot and wait on you go verse 2. Sarah three four verse 4. thank you verse 5 back in the corner verse 6. 7 up here sister Mandy verse 8 Michelle verse 9 brother Nathan if you number 10. verse 11. verse 12. hello verse 13. 14. mm-hmm foreign Kristen Seth Connor go 7 16. very good 17. very good 18. 19. 20. very good 21. 22. 23 Christian 24. 25. foreign 26. all right we'll stop there is that enough now you say you got Bible reading in um here we are here we are guess what there's another chapter in a minute anyway um we're in the midst of 21 days of dedication now last week if you'll recall we refrain from social media and entertainment and things of that nature trying to unplug and Connect into the good things of God in doing so I don't know if you noticed it or not but vision changes your focus realigns there's some things that happen as you disconnect from all the hubbub and the hustle of the world around us can somebody say Amen this week so far we are in the midst of a Daniel Fast And basically that means uh doing away with the pleasant things of food and just Basics if you will and you know things like a large T-bone steak not like that um a potato that might taste like it anyway uh you can use your imagination but Daniel called that fast because he wanted so needed so to had to so desperately get in touch with God so that he could be who he needed to be in the day in which he lived anybody remember the story of Daniel okay every time we do away with us we realign us and we focus on God things begin to happen this second lesson in this 21 days brings us to a very important part that I want to spend a few moments tonight talking about and basically it's the reason why we fast or we sacrifice or we dedicate consecrate follow do what we do as unto the Lord now if you'll give me just a few moments I would like to take some of the reading from John 17. I have read these verses of course probably like most of you multiple times and um again today I read across read them again notice in verse number five I hope you're still there with your Bible open and now O Father glorify thou me in thine own self the glory which I had with thee before the world was I have manifested thy name unto who the men which thou gave us me out of the world thine they were thou gavest them me and they have kept my word this is if you'll notice if you're a Bible scholar you'll know this where Jesus is particularly located at this point you get into chapter 18 you discover it's that's when the Betrayal begins that's when the prayer in the garden begins that's when Judas all the things that happened Jesus goes into this Whirlwind of of of going to court and things like that and then next thing you know and within what seems like moments he is nailed to a cross and and suspended Between Heaven and Earth only to die there it's interesting though that before he goes through all of that he went through this particular reading is so profound in this Jesus as Man follow this the Bible tells us as we read he looks to heaven and he begins to pray begins to speak and what he says of course if you quickly go through it because it's very easy to do especially when you're just trying to get your Bible reading done Divine the Mind Divine the mind to thine Divine the mind to go the woe to go the the one of the grand theft of the weather the Nether and then you're just kind of passed through and go on if you'll take a few moments and figure out what's Happening Here Jesus in the flesh is establishing connection through his purpose and the important thing about what he is saying here is this you gave me 12 people you did that they became mine and then Jesus says about those 12 I turned around and gave them back what I did with them while I had them he continues in this particular chapter is I invested in them I loved them I taught them I showed them the word I gave them examples I continued steadfast with them instructing and leading and guiding them at that particular time the Bible says that Jesus identifies In the Flesh with God the father and says you gave them to me I gave them back to you and guess what they're doing they are keeping the word that I gave them follow this gee I know it I realize in an Apostolic church that these these words can be very very fine line you know are you saying that that there's the father Son and the Holy Ghost I'm saying yeah Jesus was all flesh all deity but he still was flesh and before he goes to the crucifixion he is standing the scripture says John's writing says he looks to heaven and says you gave me guys they were already yours but you gave them to me and I spent time with them and I took and I because I'm the word made flesh I wrapped it up and I put it in them and then I give them back to you why because he says here and he declares later in the chapter because my time is done I'm I'm going to be with you I'm finished here but your word stays here I have invested what into the ones that you gave me notice what he says here again this is a very important part in verse number nine I pray for them who's he talking about who the disciples these this is the group that he got he mentioned the one that was the son of perdition the one that was Judas if you will but then the rest of them he talks specifically about them and he says I pray for them what else did he say here I don't pray for the world listen carefully this this teaching Jesus in flesh word robed in flesh says when I pray I pray for those who have gladly received the word I don't pray for the world what I'm praying for is I pray not for the world but then what you've given me because they are yours I'm praying for those who have accepted the word and put it in their hearts listen carefully to where I'm coming from in 21 days of dedication what we're interested in is we're interested in hearing a word from God Jesus himself speaks at this moment and identifies in his communication with the father if you will I'm not praying for the world no there is a plan for the world what we need to focus on what we come to do was to get a group of people that will accept the word and begin to change this world with what's put in them now this to me is so profound that Jesus himself is speaking this in a prayer and John would write these words I don't pray for for the world when I pray for those that you gave me and then he goes on to verse 11 and now I am no more in the world but these are in the world I'm coming to you he says Holy Father keep through thine own name those who thou has given me that they may be as one look at your neighbor and say are we one now this is the Crux of where I'm coming from tonight I've still got some time here on my clock Jesus is saying I came here on purpose I came here with a plan I came here as the word of God the God of all robed in flesh here on Earth so that I could put your word his Jesus word in them but then he said I got to go away but the word is going to remain with them and if the word remains with them something will have to happen for them to be able to keep the word that I've given them I pray for them to become as one how can you put that verse back up for me please verse number 11. somebody help me that last phrase what does it say as who are who who's the we and you can't separate God in Jesus come on somebody you've seen the father you've seen him you've seen him you've seen the father you with me and so Jesus is praying here you know what you know what he's asking he's saying I pray that when I go they will stay here and they will be as one just like you and I R1 come on ask some trinitarian explain that to me now stay with me a minute the reason that dedication and consecration is so important friend of mine if there's a hundred of us in church on Sunday and we're not unified and in unity with what we're doing we are fighting against the wind we are beating the air wondering why we can't have a breakthrough in the spirit it's because what Jesus prayed is exactly what he wants for his church I want them to be as one just like we are so when we pray when we're fasting when we're sacrificing when we're coming together when we are doing the things that God has wanted us to do guess what's happening there is a unifying of the spirit there is a believing in Harmony and unity in the drawing together I will not ask for a show of hands but I want to demonstrate something right now if you'll give me a moment when I asked the church when I ask the church body to participate in a time of prayer and time of fasting how many do you think what was the percentage of people in this room or in the church that actually participate it's a question you have to answer that for yourself I know for a fact that some will not participate you know how I know that because of the lives and the issue the life and the issues that they're facing in their life they can't get answers for prayers because they're not submitting to what Jesus wants us to do and so they're flailing around can Pastor be honest with you from a pastor's heart when we have an altar call on Sunday and people come to the altar nine eight times out of ten I'll give it benefit of the doubt many times somebody comes and they're bringing the same issues you know why because they're not Unified with the body they wonder why they're struggling with Temptations or things it's because they haven't connected as Jesus and God are the same they haven't connected as that and that's exactly what Jesus was praying for if they can get together as one they can face any any enemy any battle anything going on and there will be victory in it come on Jesus faced across the calvary he wasn't afraid one time he knew I'm going through this because Glory's coming as a church if we are unified and connected one to another and we're believing and we're pushing and working and doing the same things for the glory of God guess what victory comes I don't have a word of indictment for anybody I'm not pointing fingers I'm simply saying if we want true breakthrough in the spirit guess what we gotta we got to understand why this was written this way why did Jesus even mention this he's talking to himself but John was so kind to say y'all got to hear this follow up a little further let's go a little further you okay verse 13 and now come I to thee and these things I speak in the world that they what that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves I've given them Thy word this is what verse 14 says and the world hath hated them why because they are not of the world even as I am not of the world I pray not that thou should hear this take them out of the world hmm but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil they are not of the world even as I am not of the world did you hear what Jesus is saying they're they're going to go through things there's going to be all this stuff happen to them I ask you don't take them out of it leave them in the world now hang on a minute everyone every one of us wants somebody to pray for us that we we just make it to the end just pray that I make it all the way glory be to God that is why we quit testimony service years ago um because I don't want to just make it in I want to be unified with the body established here because Jesus Christ has a plan and what he says here is I pray that when when they pray when they say God get us out of this mess that you don't reach down and pull them out but I pray you let them go through it and fine find the answer in the word and figure out that greater is he that is in you than he that's in the world if they'll ever figure that out they'll have Victory if they'll ever figure out in the word of God it says that there's no weapon formed against you if they'll ever get that and they believe that one for another and they trust that one for another this particular chapter in your Bible is one of the most powerful Declarations of Jesus's purpose in the church I'm excited about this chapter because look what he says here in verse 17. y'all with me sanctify them is that what we're doing we're dedicating consecrating we're sanctifying sanctify them through what thy truth Thy word is truth God get the word in them and that'll sanctify them can I I'm gonna back up a minute some some of some of us going through problems and trials and things in our lives because we don't know what a word says if we truly understood the word come on we all want to we all want to quote Jesus wept I got the Bible in my heart Jesus swept look at me the truth is you don't even know why he wept is that okay Psalm 20. anyway oh Lord don't let me get started sanctify them through thy truth Thy word is truth as thou Hast sent me into the world listen to this even so I have also what sent them into the world and for their sakes I sanctify myself oh that they might also might be Sanctified through The Truth Listen to verse 20 neither pray I for these alone but for them also which Shall Believe on me through their word about came out of my chair this afternoon when I was reading and looking at this the Lord Jesus Christ knew exactly what the church needed and he made sure in his prayer before him going through everything he did he made sure in that prayer that somebody put the words down in ink why because there would be Generations that would come later and it is by the word of God that we are able to stand in the face of opposition and the enemy and say listen I was given this word once by the Lord God and I'm going to trust it and believe in it come on it I I pray that the 12 disciples would pass this word and then what the next group would pass that word and then what the next for number two thank you that's a little better that's almost preachy I'll need that back because this hinders me neither I pray for these alone but them which Shall Believe on me through their word notice here how the church continues listen friend if if we are indeed the generation that will see the Rapture of the church guess what is laying on our shoulders right now guess what is laying upon us as the church in this hour anybody care to guess come on what's your thought what batteries work good huh thank you probably more now than ever the last the generation that will see the coming of the Lord listen friend I don't want to get sidetracked here with this but listen what does the Bible say in Thessalonians what will happen with the church the dead will rise first now everybody okay with that I'm gonna say this and I'm not I'm just going to say it ready I have a feeling that there's some in the church that if they see Graves open up they're going to be more afraid than anybody that's not in the church but if we were really understood with the word of God as soon as you hear the ground shake and that dirt split you be looking up come on come on come on come on because we would understand that we'll meet what together in the air does anybody still look for the Trump listen for the Trump of God the voice of an archangel giving that shout come on if that's the case then we would understand that the generations of generations of generations of time have passed it to us and if we are indeed the last ones come on what do you what do you think happened to the families of the prophets of Baal that day on Mount Carmel they came the prophets did they beat themselves they did all this stuff they tore down the Altar and all and the man of God simply says put that back together we're in a drought grab some water come on bring some more come on do it again 50 some odd words later what happened far from Heaven boom it didn't take the sacrifice what did it take what'd it take what else come on everything that was sitting there gone Stones water dust dirt sacrifice here's a question now who's gonna put all that back because what happened right after that oh God I feel the Holy Ghost what happened after that moment somebody bring every one of those 450 profits down here go out to the Orchards and get those 400 out there bring them we're going to kill every last one of them and the prophets of Baal died that day why because a man of God stood and said this is truth what do you think the families of those prophets thought that day daddy ain't coming home what's going on no mama everything done blown up down there what happened Have You Ever Seen Fire fall from Heaven mom what do you mean fire from heaven did they call it down well I thought there was hundreds of them there was who did it one man of God spoke a word into the heavens and all of Heaven responded gone listen to me if we truly believe that the Rapture of the church is going to happen soon and if it doesn't happen in our generation guess what it will happen in the next one or the next one or the next one you understand that your children better understand Mom and Dad what the raps of the church is they better be looking for it otherwise they're going to be one of the ones that's freaked out over it when it happens and they're going to grab a hold of something on Earth instead of turn loose of everything I'm trying I am trying my best to get us to understand the power of this prayer Jesus is speaking allowing us to hear I pray that you would somehow let them see this Glory see what happens there are some that are going to believe in me through the word of those that will preach it and teach it and talk about it in the streets and in the family time there are those that will I pray that they will stay true to you God that they will hold on to you and they will understand the whole reason why there had to be a baby born in a manger so I come all the way back you're ready for it back I'm watching the clock 21 days of dedication you know what that should do for us it should realign us to what Jesus's plan is for the church come on this has got to be more than just a place you hang out on Sunday and Wednesday and a few times in between it's got to be something that just envelops you overcomes you and pushes you into a passion to say Jesus I want to know everything there is about this word that is pertinent to me today why because something is happening in the atmosphere and every generation prior to ours has thought the same thing Jesus is coming soon Jesus has come I say it all the time my grandmother died in her deathbed saying you better get ready Jesus is coming soon my mom she's in her 80s now and she still looks at me and says Jesus is coming soon you better get ready better get ready in other words friend it is as real today as ever but if we as the church fall asleep and we decide that it's not really that important and we negate on our responsibility to take the word and to do something with it guess what it won't matter anyway stay with me verse 25 o righteous father the world hath not known thee but I've known thee and these have known that thou has sent me Jesus Took I I told these disciples I told these guys what I was all about and I have declared unto them thy name and will declare it that the love wherewith thou Hast loved me may be in them and I in them I pray that the love that I have for them is in them and that the word is working in them just like you and I are working together in harmony and in unity the same thing happens to the church the 21 days of dedication what it's for friend is for us to remove the things that are causing us to separate ourselves from God and to truly fall in love with the knowledge and understanding that Jesus has a plan for the church this is more than listen carefully this has got to be more than just another religious moment I was talking earlier to Duron and a couple of the guys about the last couple of days I was but the funeral for brother Herb's mom and I had a couple hours on the road driving and I saw all these churches and I was telling them something stuck out to me as a lot of the churches didn't have denominational names on them anymore that I didn't the United Methodist or Church of Christ I didn't see that I saw just a bunch of of names the the church uh it Church uh uh Sanctified Place uh family room the love place I saw all these churches and nobody wants to identify with with it's as if they don't want to connect with something they simply want to be on their own to do something that way they they've got a reason a purpose I'm sure it's by Design it's not an accident I have no doubt some are saying you know what our organizations are falling apart so we're going to come out here I don't know or or what they're doing I don't want to affiliate with that anymore so I'm gonna I don't know but in my mind I'm sitting there saying I didn't see Jesus on any of them the apostles Doctrine and teaching I didn't see it on uh now I'm sure that they're I don't know but all if I have to stand outside and question come on I don't mind saying I I try to order flowers for somebody and tell them you're from Cornerstone Apostolic Church Ain't It Funny Sarah aptosolic astroplakic we had a tornado hit the epileptic Church y'all remember that come on I want him to ask me what is a pause oh I'm so glad you asked I I I don't mind saying I've had some of my my uh peers if you will in Ministry say you know we've changed the name of our church from this to that or Community this time so if that's fine I appreciate the fact that brother Austin said Cornerstone Apostolic Church he even said to me when he turned it over to now you can change the name if you want to and I said why would I do that I am Apostolic I believe in the apostles Doctrine and teaching I believe this is exactly what Jesus was telling the church get a hold of the teaching get a hold of the understanding the doctrine of what it is why am I mentioning that because we live in an age hear me friend where there's a whole lot of in between listen you might not make heaven or might not make hell no you either are you're not come on there's nobody standing at the gate as many jokes as they want to make about Peter standing at the gate it ain't going to be standing there saying yeah you look the part or no you don't ain't gonna happen he's going to look for what did he know you is your name there did he know you did he know you come on he even goes further to say there are some going to say but didn't we in your name this this is he had nothing to do with you and I'll do with what my name so Jesus is praying this prayer for us to realize and recognize in our day that when we come to a place that is so vitally important as the day and age in which we live we have got to be so full of Jesus this world has no question about Who We Are no question I heard a survey the other day the the news of this survey was released all denominations are suffering with attendance now so I got my little phone out and went to my attendance for Sunday I said no we had more this week than last week I bet well nope there was more than there no so then I go check my phone log brother to God I want to know did they call me and ask ain't nobody call me or nothing pick up the phone and call me is your church falling apart oh you don't even know you don't even know it is ain't it no I need somewhere else to put folk I need more bathroom space come on we got a lot of issues we're working on right we got a lot of stuff we're working on we got families messed up we got individuals that are just freaking out but I've come to tell you that if we'll truly understand dedication consecration under the Lord is necessary why because the word is put in US come on we all want to scream out greater things that you'll do why how you better know it oh my time's run out here listen to me you'd read in John you notice that Jesus is communicating because he knows that if the church is going to be the church they have got to recognize and realize where the power comes from Jesus put that in US he allowed his disciples to take it pass it to the next to the next to the next to the now I am not naive enough to think that from the beginning in the book of Acts that the church is the same today I know it's not I know it's not I know things have changed I am certain that Peter did not take an elevator to the upper room pretty sure that okay you really got brother Rob I bet he walked there the Bible never says how much gas was a gallon oh they didn't probably have gas you understand I'm glad things are different now I told somebody oh damn thankful for now because we got air conditioner we got heat we got carpet we got sound system you know we all free the mic went out a while ago and after you went why the nerve can't even keep a battery in a microphone well come on what if we turn the lights off and the power off and I light an oil lamp and set it up here how many stay how did I preach that way I preached by that at a church and I couldn't preach loud and hard enough there wasn't a bit of electricity and brother Daryl I had a lantern sitting up here and I could barely read I saw five foot past me and the church is packed full of people and they're worshiping and screaming and shouting at me as I'm trying to preach by this lamp they weren't at all put off by the fact that they didn't have all this we are looking for the blessings of the power of Jesus to work Jesus knows every single time he mentions it here in this particular writing it is in red in your King James version he is saying let them be as one as you and I are one let them understand the power that is working in them together let them embrace the fact dear I pray they embrace the fact that they are different but they can be unified in their purpose this 21 days of dedication you and I if we will truly get to the place of reality that we understand the purpose of the church and its relationship with Jesus the fasting the praying the podcast the Bible reading the time in the word the time together is a family I am convinced that it is for the Kingdom's sake and God knows what it's going to take in 2023. for the church to still be the church I pray to God I said this multiple times I pray to God that we don't lose it drop the ball wash our hands and walk away and decide Generations failed before us therefore we'll stop and we won't believe it any longer I rebuke that we have got to believe still in the apostles Doctrine and teaching brother Deron would you come listen to him Psalm 100 notice what the psalmist wrote here notice what the psalmist wrote verse number one Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord all ye land serve the Lord with gladness come before his presence with singing know ye that the Lord he is God it is he that hath made us and not we ourselves we are his people and the Sheep of his pasture enter into his gates with Thanksgiving and into his courts with praise be thankful unto him and bless his name for the Lord is good his Mercy is Everlasting his truth endureth to all generations what we understand the psalmist wrote it here every generation should understand the goodness of the Lord the word of God that matters the truth of the word of God that matters listen if you're in a tight spot tonight or if you've made just the worst decision of your life and your life has fallen apart your family's coming apart the same I can tell you there's one answer and that is Jesus period and you might say to me well that sounds Elementary fine I'll get more Elementary it's Jesus period there I got nothing else for you I can't write enough podcasts I can't read enough books I can't reach enough whether another program or something come on I if you're not going to love Jesus then why do you lie to yourself if you're not going to serve him and know his word then what are you trying to obtain a whole stack of years ago had a pastor in my life when I was a young person man that guy his fingerprints are all over my life he didn't even know it dead and gone now a whole bunch of years my last conversation with brother Ted it was brother tedrick I want you to know the Lord called me into the ministry called him on the phone from Tulsa Oklahoma and through his trying to breathe he said I don't doubt it brother Raymond I believe God's got something for you why would he say that I don't know foreign I'm glad to hear it could barely understand him because of his difficulty in breathing he hung up the phone I told her I said told Brother what'd he say he was struggling breathing but he young he was thankful glad but now I look back and there's so many things that he said that I wish wish that I could remember the details of one thing I do recall as a young person there were many nights that I would be afraid to go to sleep after being in church for hours see y'all young people listen carefully we used to go to church on Sunday morning the Sunday afternoon go to Granny Paws and sing and play music and then Sunday night go back to church Wednesday night's Bible study Friday night was youth service and a whole bunch in there we were at prayer meetings or we were at anybody anybody recall that someone come on come on lift a hand don't be ashamed of that best days of your life and I I've said often to our married couples with children especially you're now going to church Wednesday night Sunday now here's my question what do you think your two-year-old three-year-old's gonna how many times are they going to go to church when they become teenagers and married how quickly things have you know one of my greatest challenges as Pastor in a rented building considering building another building like Lord is it going to matter am I building something for the wind if the Next Generation truly has been unchurched enough then will they even come will it even matter I'm okay is that okay is that transparent enough and the Lord then very kind he's always so kind gracious that's what he told me it matters to you doesn't it yeah then there's always going to be somebody I'm convinced that our city is full of people that would love to be in the house of God on a Sunday and a Wednesday I'm convinced of that I am foreign do we really believe what the word says do we really make the Joyful Noise do we really believe that his truth endures all generations if we really do then we have to understand what John 17 says to us is this Jesus is saying God we're we're one I I am your word made flesh here all power is given here but you gave me a stack of guys to work with and I want you to know that I've given them back to you if you want to know how powerful that was can anybody tell me how Heaven is going to be labeled there's going to be some tribes names mentioned aren't there there's going to be some Elders around the throne aren't there do you see how it matters I want to know that if Jesus prayed this I've passed this to them they're going to be hated for it but they're going to do it because they believe in it they're going to baptize in my name because there is no other name I taught them that they're going to watch for the evidence of the unfilling of the Holy Ghost I showed that to them I would not even feel them for 10 days I made them wait for it until I'm sure that I had their attention then that building Shakes as fire and wind blows into this place and then cloven tongues explain to me a cloven tongue like as a fire anybody ever seen one of those put that in your dictionary dearly or you're in your Siri what's a cloven tongue like it's a fire I can tell you what it'll come up and say it'll have a pair of shoulders going now to have a drawing or something you know kind of like I might make it fun but kind of like the the drawing of Jesus at the door somebody's rendition just had long swirly hair anyway staying with me we're right smack in the middle of our 21 days of dedication and I realized that I'm with you guys I'm with you vegetables are not my favorite I'm certain that Daniel and his three cohorts felt the same thing but they asked for it didn't they you know what let's do this you bring us pulse I mean just the sheer word I challenge every single one to go to a restaurant when they say what sir what would you like to eat bring to me pulse see what the little guy or the lady said it's Excuse excuse me I'll have your best pulse I know what they said now we know that's a translated word for basically your basic vegetables kind of put together with just the scraps that nobody else wants see the vegetables in their day didn't mean as much as the meat on the tray kind of like today don't leave me now if I can get a big old fat juicy steak on the tray you know I I got a son and a son-in-law that just adore rodizios my son will starved for two days to go in I said buddy got a salad bar he looks at me like have you lost your mind they're fixing to bring out here the fatted calf I ain't eating that stuff on that bar I'm gonna wait come on get your hand off that red and green thing leave it green leave it green leave it green and he'll sit there for hours listen to me but Daniel and his briefly they said you know what we're going to trust the Lord on this when the time came they came to present themselves they said no your skin is cleaner fairer foreign you got better health than all of these guys who've been eating and sitting at the king's table and sucking up all this stuff what have you guys done well they brought us a big old delicious bowl of pulse Tim does that sound good not so much Eloise bless her heart I am so hungry I said so I said wow sweetie
