Jealous

I'm glad that you are all here tonight I always enjoy seeing you especially in this particular series um I've enjoyed studying and preparing for this I will say um as we have our again every month accelerate is our theme for the year and so I'm trying to help us get through get past tap tap tap the gas move forward a little little faster into the day and age in which we live I believe that when we look at worship it is one of the Paramount fundamental topics for apostolics um um if if you don't truly understand as a 21st century Apostolic if you don't understand the power and the purpose of worship you need to take some time and really get in your heart get in your understanding there's a lot of confusion in our world today I found out and some of you are probably much more knowledgeable about current events than I but I did find out this week that there are children teenagers middle school and high schoolers that have begun to identify as I don't know the term because I don't know how it's from a video game they have bull heads um what is it Minotaur that was the word but apparently it's directly from a current video game or something they saw and they are identifying hey y'all with me we okay huh we okay listen to me Apostolic family this is going to come to your house as one of your kids is probably gonna fake you know what I'm saying you don't have to give an account I don't know what to I don't know what to say I've never wanted to be an animal from a mythological place of you oh I got sidetracked but I'm just saying if we don't understand who God is and our desire responsibility to worship him you could be sucked into any of that other stuff as well y'all hear me you've got to make sure that you are founded on the principles of worship now a couple weeks ago lesson number one we discovered the proper meaning of worship guys recall we talked about the Shaka we talked about that bowing laying prostrate laying flat out on the floor before God humbled before him the Greek of course it is licking the hand as of licking the hand of the master completely submitted Again part of our 2023 American culture is the desire to not want to submit the mission is a word today that in our in our schools and all the way down to our elementary school ages uh children are not being instructed properly on the power of submitting I learned young that when I was submitted to my fleshly father is good bad or ugliers or whatever happened in that that there was a protection came there was some kind of something there now again I recognize in our age that a lot of the family unit just blown all the pieces all right there's just a lot of folk today that are confused about because their father or their mother or their family this or that and there's all this Dynamic comes into place and what happens then of course is The Godly fear that should be there The Godly respect begins to dwindle away and then what are you left with come on anybody here ever built anything in the middle of the air I've been very successful at that in no time huh let me build this doghouse well that didn't even no you can't you got to have a foundation Stay With Me lesson two last week we went into the different definitions and the differences if you will of Praise it's different than worship hands lifted forward to God a declaration of who he is and who you are playing instruments singing out loud in a song Hands Up shout dance worship unto him twirling whatever it is there are many ways to praise the Lord how many know that but you got to understand again the concepts of worship and the concepts of Praise they are not the same and if if you confuse the two listen to me if you confused it to you will expect yourself to be worshiping God but actually you're praising him and your position is wrong you understand that or you will want to praise him but you'll be flat of your face wailing before God your position is not correct and some of you may say yeah but we live in 2023 and and man you can just do what you want to you can come to the Lord as you are and you can just throw Hands in the Air wave them like you just don't care and you can just spent and that ought to be acceptable and that would be true if the heart were 100 submitted to God but what happens to humanity is what we call Pride I know that's a word that nobody in here struggles with except Horton well he says that every Tuesday night doesn't he he says it every Tuesday night my name's Horton I'm a Believer and I struggle with see he says it here's the thing in our 2023 environment listen carefully if you're not understanding fully with your heart who God is and how big and wonderful and massive and great and and holy he is then praise and worship gets confused and what happens then is your praise is taken out of context listen to me carefully and then worship is directed in another way and then you begin to worship the creature more than creator you begin to try to lift up what's been assembled by the hand of man instead of what was thought by the spirit of God the two have a very distinct place and position in our world praise worship tonight of course I'm going to pick up and I'm going to continue a little further I want to show you and and preparing for this series of lessons I've you know there's a million different aspects I mean over over almost 700 times in the scriptures worship praise adoration all that is listed in the scriptures let's go together in the book of Exodus all right that's the pen it took that's your first five books of the Bible there's Genesis and then there's Exodus this is the account of how God's people um were taken from point A to point B and things begin to happen into and with them as the people of God Exodus 34 verse number 14 we'll start there for Thou shalt worship no other God for the Lord whose name is everybody say it jealous is a jealous God lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land and they go a whoring after their gods and do sacrifice unto their gods and one called thee and thou eat of his sacrifice verse 16 and thou take of their daughters unto thy sons and their daughters go whoring after their gods and make thy Sons to go whoring after their gods and listen to it Thou shalt make thee know molten gods are you with me so when we when we get to anybody know anybody recall in your Sunday school class or in your study what happened in Genesis chapter 1 verse 1. in the what in the beginning The Story begins there written by the hand of man to tell the world exactly what was and what was to come okay in the beginning God created the Heaven the Earth we under we get that and then from that we know in in chapter one and in chapter two that things are put together God's gotten man on the scene he breathed life into him and and then he from that we know he took a rib he made him a help meet and he named it woman because it came from him and then all the animals all the things happened I I think we sometimes forget at what point was the flood Dennis is what come on somebody knows all the thumbs are just about to break hello you'll see it so it didn't even get far that God said hmm again you got to keep it in the context okay that the the pentateuch the Torah was written hundreds of years after the actual things transpired if you will but the account God the spirit of God moved on man and he put the words down so that there would be an account of written account of what was going on when you look at the the time that people Humanity God had a plan and a purpose for them when Moses for an example when he went up into the mountain the mountain was called Sinai and then that mountain you can read about this as you get into Exodus that God had already done the flood things had already come back things were happening and and the Bible says that Moses ascends the mountain of Sinai when he gets there per God's instruction he and God it's been 40 days together communicating now we don't have except for what was said by Moses's words that he wrote no doubt that after some time the conversation would have been very deep and very wide agreed any time you talk to God what your mind blows right and so here he is and God's communicating with his servant and what God is doing with him is he is giving him precepts listen I have a people I have a a group of people that I will let carry my name and they will be feared they will be respected they will be honored because my power my spirit my name is upon them okay that said when we get into again the book of Exodus and we follow these words here we find out that God has given then to Moses listen because of the factor of sin that entered into the equation with Humanity I want you to understand something I will do what I have to do to establish with Humanity a way that I can spend time with them what is the one thing that will separate you from God sin God knows that he can't be around that it's not part of his makeup it's not part of his formula but he did say because of the Disobedience and the sin that's in your life I will make a way that I can spend time with you and you can spend time with me and what God did then at that point was he gave Moses laws this is what you will follow and when you follow these laws you will be able to call on my name and I will be how many recognize and realize that when the people of God called on the name of God he fought their battles he provided for them he called food to fall from Heaven he calls water to come from a rock God provided when they called on him when they turned their back on him and began to follow other gods then God stood by and let them and then someone would come along and say hey our great-great-great-grandfathers or whatever did this why don't we figure this out and we get back to it and then God would say that's what I've been waiting for and the cycle would continue when we read here in Exodus 34 what we're reading is that God is established through Moses that you will not have other gods in fact it calls his name jealous everybody say jealous they jealous that word just sounds jealousy I mean you know what jealous means come on somebody give a definition of jealous if you if somebody you know is jealous of somebody else what does that mean envious yeah what else that's all they what you want something that someone else has that's right have you ever said this that you're just jealous why they what yeah they want that so in our minds as Humanity we understand what the word jealous means in fact jealousy believe it or not has destroyed entire families and kingdoms before it sure has because it's in the heart and the spirit of man all right I'm going to back up from Exodus 34 can you rewind in your Bible come on you just got to do this a few times to get up or right Exodus chapter 20. Exodus chapter 20 verse number one somebody help read for me it's up on the screen and great big words anybody read loud please keep going there's three keep going number four verse 5. or six or seven verse 8 verse 9. keep going I have to say it so the guys back there catch it go ahead verse 11. verse 12. honor that father my mother days may be long upon the land which verse 13. 14. 15. 16. 17. everybody say what did Brother Nate just read the Commandments uh anybody know these this is what you teach to your kids this is what what's written in the halls of Congress if you will The Ten Commandments as they are known notice notice here the way that God gives a series listen to this a very specific very determined laws unto Moses the people were to follow these laws and in doing so they would be called the people of God God left no room for question no room for error what does it mean help me somebody what does it mean Thou shalt not kill does anyone have a question about that okay okay uh Thou shalt not steal the money what was an echo does anybody understand that anybody have a question about that do you understand what God was doing Moses listen they're humans and if left listen if they're left to their own devices they will do what they want to do because it is in their nature they have a sin nature because of that it is in them and they will accomplish that now all of you guys know let me give you an example all you guys know that I have a fuzzy guy at home he's getting older and yeah whatever that means brother John I have a fuzzy guy remember him he remembers you this fuzzy guy has a habit that I'm not sure that I understand I don't I don't know maybe I need to study more toilet paper roll to me doesn't mean a whole lot well the little guy seems to think a toilet paper roll is tasty on the roll on the floor doesn't matter they may know what I'm talking about and I look at him and say why do you do that he looks at me as if I didn't have a choice am I right sweetie I can leave him out in the house Tim and I can go away five minutes and come back and I'm looking on the floor there's toilet paper and I'm like and he didn't even use it now brother rob during code but I was mad because it was like 92 dollars you know what I'm saying here's my point here's my point as silly in this dumb as that sounds why do dogs do that it is in their nature I can I can scold him I can a half inch of his life and he'll be so sorry I mean the whole world just falls apart he's got those big old eyeballs that he looks at me with and I said don't look at me see y'all are all with him y'all y'all need to be there and pick up the mess well I'm saying but invariably two days later it's as if he he it's as if he looks at it and says I forgot now hold on to me yeah I forget you can't say that I'm using the dog reference yeah listen to me because nature does that it's in the DNA and the makeup of the doll we get that humans because of sin nature God the Lord has a law for us and he says Thou shalt Thou shalt not this do this don't do and we understand it do we not my little guy understands that when I go to him and I say something is now amiss and I'm looking at you sideways and he runs to his box and hides in the corner he knows he has not accomplished satisfaction for me and we as humans when we sin and we know what the word says we do the same thing you hide in a corner you hide your worship you don't get his attention you don't raise your voice and pray come on I can tell every Sunday WHo in here has got their biggest battles by the way you act in your worship time you can say it a hundred times now I can go in there and fake it fine but the fruit that comes off of you shows itself huh you know how I know that because some Sundays when you're on the mouth of this we're gonna get down ho ho ho and then when you crash and burn us not feeling it today something happened then in your position God Emmy knows God's the same yesterday today and it never changes but he's always there so what happens when we pull our praise down or we pull our worship down who changed what happens is as we've been caught again and and the power of conviction if you will give don't be afraid of conviction you need conviction in your life oh Lord don't let me get sidetracked oh it's 7-4 I almost do it I'm gonna I am 2023 that's one of our greatest greatest things that we miss and our culture is conviction uh I can as a child remember conviction striking the heart of any man come to an altar screaming and crying knowing if they died they'd bust hell wide open folk come to an altar today and it's how long till this is over no conviction no tears of repentance no Brokenness no contriteness it's simply if this is what I'm supposed to do uh do something with me I can I can you can watch somebody receive the gift of the Holy Ghost so what's the one thing you watch happen to them what changes countenance why because shame is dealt with guilt is dealt with sin is covered and now they're free to worship what happens the first couple of weeks man they're bouncing off the walls climbing the poles and what happens a very short time after that listen to me listen to me this month we're talking about worship last week we talked about praise tonight I'm looking here at God's command to humanity was to have no other gods jealous was the word now when Jealous by its definition simply means intolerant of rivalry or unfaithfulness as some of you said envious in the original translation when you go back you all know in this study I'm going back to some of the root words and I'm looking at them Connor q-a-n-n-a is the Hebrew word for it and then that what you discover is simply this it is not jealous it is jealous with a comma and then zealous translators understood it to be jealous because of the stance you take because of what you see don't see understand and comprehend about something but in that the definition means zealous now somebody tell me what does it mean to be zealous what who zealous so when the scripture says he is jealous capital J named to be one that is zealous I love loving you God of all creation says I am thrilled to death to know your name he's a jealous God don't consider that to be a negative thing consider it to be he wants you he loves you if he is zealous for you he is saying in every way shape form and fashion that I can I want to spend time with you I want to connect with you I want you to know my voice I want you to hear my heartbeat I want to hold you close our God is a jealous God a zealous God The Ten Commandments that we know of the entire reason for it was because God wanted to interact with Humanity listen friend 2023 guess what God is the same yesterday today and forever he still wants to interact with Humanity well we need to understand in the reference here in in the book of Exodus God always had a plan a way that people could know him and he would know them they would worship Him and him alone no other gods he even declares it he said don't even make molten images what's a molten image a what it's been it's been molded by a man's hands reference would be they melt silver they make a something with it they mold it they make it they melt it down they they change it and they put it into a form where they can worship it has anybody here do you have in your home a statue made of pure gold go ahead identify come on now we need building paid for your eyes open Dakota if anybody throws your hand up let me know huh nobody and it almost sounds silly when we talk about a molten image doesn't it that would be like this whole process and pour it in and it hardens and you peel off the shell and you hold on there's an Old Testament story about one called Nebuchadnezzar what did he have he had a gold image right and everybody in there had to do what why because he said so he was the boss but there was a couple of guys two or three guys three or four guys others that said what not gonna happen now stay with me when we look at understanding why for an example the big Idol that Nebuchadnezzar had that God if you will that he required his people to bow to that same voice listen to this carefully that same voice that said to the people when the trumpets blow you will bow before this Idol is that right and these guys come up and say we'll not do it and he said yes you will and they said hmm and so what happened heat the fire up threw him in who came running to the mouth of the furnace to see these guys who the king did the same one that told the whole nation bow is now coming to the mouth of the furnace and he looks in and he says what what is going on here did we not we cast in three that was the song We sang as kids huh but I see what did he say Fourth Man as hold on a minute the same voice that said bow before this Idol is the same one that said wait a minute I understand power and authority that's in this fire with them I don't grasp it completely I want to we got this other guy his name's Dan he's got a great big window in his house come on it wasn't one of them little bitty Windows like a camper it had to be a big one why everybody saw him windows open three times a day what happened gotta go on The Den of Lions and who came to the mouth of the den the same voice that said bow before this Idol was the voice that said long oh wow look at the god of Daniel hear this 2023 we got a whole lot of folk in our world that are jealous because they don't serve the god that has everything come on if you knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that you could have any and everything that you thought that came into your mind it would cause you to look at the one who's providing it very differently and I can I be very honest with us tonight in this Bible study listen I think many times even as apostolics we pray we ask God for something but we ask amiss and when we do that the Lord God is standing there saying you do realize I can do any and all of that but when it doesn't happen hear it by the way we think or in our hearts we begin to say well God can't do it and God said I said I never never said that I never indicated that what I'm doing is I'm answering your prayer you want it right now because you want power and demonstration but I won't do that right now why because the prayers that you are praying there's eight million eight billion more on planet Earth praying prayers and I've got all of them in control so you might ask God right now for a million dollars and the Lord says not going to happen but I heard your prayer but it's going to take him knowing the plan of all of humanity to say in order for you to get a million dollars in your pocket by your prayer if you're honest about it and you're hungry for it then I'm going to begin to do things for other people's prayers see we want to be able to Rattle the cave he ain't give me what I want King give me what I want and he's standing there saying you couldn't handle it if I did but you pray for something and it and it's amiss and you're not believing your faith isn't there you simply want it to keep lust upon yourself and all the while God's saying do you realize in order for me to heal your body of any kind of sickness or disease I will have to infect your body and then heal it but the prayer of a doctor that's now in Sri Lanka that has a child that's now going to school in London who will become a cancer doctor who is going to help those in North Africa while helping in China they will come up with something but while they're studying in China they will get the revelation of the Oneness of God and they'll bow on their knee and their professor in that school will say I believe God Is A Healer and through that process God can heal you we don't want that process we simply want the product and God's saying you can't get that because I'm God I can do anything I'm jealous I love you enough to be called zealous and I wonder where you trust me I wonder where you hold on to me see if God is a zealous God a jealous God then we know we know beyond the shadow of any doubt that in his mind in his heart we are over the top for him why else does he number the hairs of your head he has them numbered he has them numbered we confuse that many times with well I'm bald-headed but you still have hair you just refuse to show it I'm not saying my mind's getting a little thin I might get a little thin but I recognize God numbers them listen to me you can take that any length breadth height you want to let's go to say anything at all that you hold dear and near to your heart how many want your children to make Heaven their home you need to know something mom and dad you cannot pour it into them you cannot beat it into them but when they fall in love with Jesus and they learn to worship and praise him he will come in and reveal himself to them why that is part of the process now in 2023 we are discussing in this month worship and what will happen in the book of Exodus when God established with his people don't have any more Gods before me don't do it don't make a molten God don't do it in fact he even went through you remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy why because the plan that God put into motion said you need a day to reflect to remember come on you can have a Sabbath on Tuesday or Wednesday what is the word Sabbath mean a point of what reflection rest turning about that's what God he six days and then on the seventh he did what he looked back and he said all that very good all that what happened the very next day started over again but the Sabbath was what turn around look at there huh come on I've had people come to me and say well you know Sabbath that's Saturday oh that's Saturday I got one tattoo yeah but the first day of the week on your calendar Sunday Sunday Monday Tuesday when I said okay let's go do you want to go there you sure you want to go there do you know why it's called Sunday it's a day Unto the Sun God you're going to worship Gods like that now you know why Monday's called the Mondays because it worships the moon God how far you want to go well no no no no here's the point the Sabbath concept was this you do it you turn around you reflect so many of us forget God's promises because we refuse to look back and remember he's a jealous God you're on his mind 24 7 3 65. not all just on Sunday listen not on good days bad days not God is always always always working for your good when you're misunderstanding things when there's confusion when there's conflict when there's questions when you wonder is it ever going to make sense God stand there saying I never changed I never changed Humanity we're the ones that have issues huh God himself has to be number one in your life now in this month we're talking worship if we can truly understand the power of worship humbly bowing ourself before him it will put him back in his proper place and it will put us back in our proper place there's a lot of reference I get it there's a whole lot of songs sung I get it about I am his he is mine I'm an heir I'm a joint Heir with Jesus Christ that's right I've got this I said and the songs right all I got to do is call on my daddy all I need to do is Heavenly and all this stuff is very poetic and that's right it's meant to be that way because it should excite you the same thing David did singing to sheep thank you the Lord is my shepherd brother vanity asked if he was going to sing tonight he may kiss me y'all don't think he sang that way you lie down by Stillwater uh here's the point we get all that we want to make it so extremely out there Lord help me stay tonight that if we don't feel the Goosebump machine apparently God's not here and if we don't have the emotion and the heebie-jeebies up and down our spine God must have missed it it is so much the case that when God is active and working in your life and you're allowing him to be God you'll be at church early you'll give in the offering and you'll pay your tithe you'll do things that God's asked you to do and you'll and you know he's with you but the first sign of Trouble Comes the first Cloud that stops over your head the first rain that comes down um wait for it we forget worship we forget praise oh come on somebody you know what I'm saying our testimony changes Devil's been on my back all week long bless His holy name knowing the only reason your testimony changes because you got up off the altar and you forgot that he was a jealous God I'm so glad my God is jealous don't put anything else in front of me in other words I can build my entire future on that principle if I don't allow other things to come between us he's going to be with me in the morning in the evening in the Midnight Hour he's going to Raise Me Up When I Fall he's going to help me and encourage me he's going to take care of my wife and my children he's going to bless why because when I keep him number one and I worship him and I praise him and I understand the power of that what God was why do you think and I see it's eight o'clock we're okay it's 800 right now why do you think that God gave this command to Moses these Commandments to him and then Moses picks up these tablets read your story and heads down off Mount Sinai huh it's Carrie and he's he gets halfway down and Josh is with him he says hey they're at War Moses pauses maybe a moment says that's not a war cry they're celebrating what are they celebrating I've got the Commandments the laws right here let's go see when they come down what happened listen what had happened uh was this you was gone too long and we decided I mean you got to understand my side we decided because you told us that we're worshipers so I we decided that we needed to worship and so earn came by and Aaron said what what'd he do he said take what oh some of y'all need to get in there and study that story do not put jewelry on do not Adorn yourself bring the earrings here and I'll melt it down when he gave reference he when Moses said what happened he said well they all this gold went in the fire and this big old calf come out and we said I mean it was his funniest thing brother John come on analysis this gold calf sitting here why the gold some of y'all need to get in this word and study this why did a calf appear thank you molten calf oh the Egyptians worshiped it and if the Egyptians were healthy wealthy and wise then they could be healthy wealthy and wise as well because the calf was a sign of fertility and Power some of y'all need to get in here and figure this out Moses then takes the law that God had scribed and does what with it what'd he do what happened to him broke the law he took oh Lord somebody's helping me right now and he took the gold and he burned it and he grounded up and he put it in their water for them to drink of it you may do your homework study that why is it gold why'd they have to drink the gold God says come back Moses you bring this with you now bring me tablets I'm a jealous God I've already given you the law by my hand now you need to bring that up here and we're going to ride on it again but now you're going to understand the weight of that now Moses goes back and he comes back with the law scripture very quickly turns then and it goes into them beginning to move about and now they've got law a friend of mine listened to 2023 it's 804. in our day and age if we as apostolics cannot fully comprehend the power of worship the purpose of Prayer I fear that we will also fall for molten images and other gods if you're going to make Heaven your home I say this about every service you will not accidentally show up there it will be because you've read the word you got in the law you got in the love of God and you discovered this is what it says but Pastor don't we live in the grace dispensation we certainly do do you realize Grace is not an Old Testament word wasn't needed then they followed law Grace only applies when what when the blood of Jesus is applied listen to me Because by the law your sin should snuff out your life but by the blood of Jesus applaud your life life comes back to you who would we be in our day and age to thwart the power of worship to negate the power of praise because if you don't worship Him listen to me you will worship something if you're not praising the one true holy magnificent Living God you're going to pray something homework assignment you ready for it I don't cast stones I don't have to say anything you guys will know this when it happens I challenge you over the next while we're doing the next two I got a couple more lessons here that I'm going to do on worship and praise I want you to tune in your spiritual ear when you come into this place tune it in I mean we'll do this tune in your spiritual ear when you walk into this building and you listen to all the gods that are mentioned in here huh I have watched people get off of this carpet off of those pews stand up with hands up I love you God and I praise you Jesus name go home enjoy the family shake hands and be friendly and turn around and the first word out of their mouth is about a God of this world you watch that ball game you know what I bought a new gun as your job I'm not throwing stones is there anything wrong with a new gun or anything wrong with the job you understand what I'm saying anything wrong with sport no here's the thing in your worship unto the Lord God that the next breath that leaves your body says I'm now looking at the gods of this Earth God stand their sin a jealous God I won't have other gods before me and God in himself is saying while you're praying in your week and all the problems and stuff going on God is saying am I your God yes Lord until you answer we heard our dear evangelist on Sunday talk about his great grandfather talking about that guy who got to pray and prayed for a job he got it then what too busy to come to church now because of his job I've seen that myself probably a dozen or more times actually I need a job here I get this job I really want to all right Lord helping me get a job hey Pastor I got a job man I'm gonna be able to be at church I'm I'm off Sundays I'm off Wednesdays and all right great man God answered your prayer yeah in two three months goes by next thing they're not there Wednesday had work over not long after right I missed you on Sunday yeah this one's still this one's still I don't understand I still don't you do realize Sunday's the Lord's day yeah but because of all the work that I'm doing for my job I didn't have time to do stuff at home so I decided to stay home today and get these things done makes sense to not me God better be the first thing that pops into your brain in the morning the last thing that pops out of your brain at night keeping him in his proper place he is a jealous God if he is envious of the other gods that you put in your life it's because he knows what he has done and what he can do in your life and if you're not letting him do it then you are turning your back on him and you are deciding you're not enough for me if you're he's not enough for you in the heaven that he's prepared is not enough for you and with me Church truth of the matter is simple you have a choice you have a choice you can be number one in your life he can be first he can be all in all he can be the fullness that you're hungry for but the choice is yours will you allow him to be who he is not who he will be but who he is you can't minimize the god that's the biggest everything come on you can't serve God in this facet not in this facet don't happen that way you either give him all heard my old Pastor saying a thousand times if you decide you don't want to live for God then I would recommend very highly that you get out of church and go live as hard as you can for the devil because there's your reward and that's all you're going to get all right Tim that's what you say all the time you live as hard as you can for the devil because that's all you're going to get but if you'll make the decision I'm gonna live for God then he needs to be first in everything the why the why not the how the how not the because and all things in between why because he's a jealous God feel like tonight it's 8 11 for those clock Watchers I feel like tonight some people need to get some realignment going on in your spirit and you need some time and an altar to Bow your face and worship the one God and get all the other stuff out of your brain out of your heart
