Kiss

I Echo the words of those who have come before I welcome all of you into our worship time today those online we're so glad you're here I believe that we are living in the most desperate point of humanity we need God's Direction and guidance now more than ever before amen but how many know him to be faithful I know he's faithful thank you s singers musicians beautiful leading us into the presence of the Lord through praise to all of those who have worked up to this point Sunday school teachers offering taker uppers coffee maker uppers and car keeper such a sweet anointing in this house today I I want to ask you though one thing if I may now y'all know I can I can preach teach do whatever I don't I'm not the best at it but I do what I can but I can tell you this Spirit of the Lord is speaking in your life right now you need to trust that that voice is there for a reason in fact I want to invite I want to invite all of us today to go past what you're feeling right now and simply go into the presence of the Lord through his word and let it do what no one else can do that okay yeah when I was a kid I'm going to date myself a moment here before we get to the word I was a kid man we used to have blow out just what they called Throw Down Services anybody remember those ain't that a shame we had to remember them I was a I was a outside not as a kid I used to say when the preacher didn't get to preach man it was great church tonight the preacher didn't get to preach we just knew I mean it was good right brother Rob I mean yeah you know that means there it it was too late or went too long and anybody remember those that's why we start church early and I'm joking joking joking there's a lot of times though as a youngster that I learned that if I would wait past that that's when the voice of God would speak if I would wait through that and simply let myself be in the presence of the Lord he would speak you can be seated today if you feel like you need to again I'm so glad all of you are here thank you brother her a favorite Christmas movie a lot of us watch towards the end of each year you you may not but I I I like the old Black and Whites it was title of it was it's a how did y'all know It's a Wonderful Life look at somebody say It's a Wonderful Life black and white made years ago a man just to give in case you haven't heard of it he was loved by the family and the community he helped people banking industry at that time he uh took up the path that his family had gone into and the Savings and Loan boy I'm seeing all this in my brain right now aren't you he goes into that mold and he he takes over family business and he's helping everybody that he can this little Community they're buying and selling houses and goods and they're they're unified in their purpose everybody greeted one another on the street hey how you you know uh they celebrated birthdays and funerals they weddings all the stuff together they were in one another's lives say it again It's a Wonderful Life It's a Wonderful Life this movie was made in the year of 1946 that was before my time anybody here before 46 but Tim I was just asking recent the World War II was over and the the American people were getting back to a normal life economy was looking good and it finally had taken hold again men and women were returning to a very different world in small town USA another time another place but for you and I listen carefully you and I we really do desire to live in a simple and trusting world that all right we we want the simple things it's a in that particular era man time in that time people trusted one another they got along with each other they spoke to somebody on the street they didn't hold them in disdain they honored one another people looked at one another with a sincere desire to want to be in each other's lives now again I know that Hollywood has a really really different translation of the times in 1946 but it's a simple revealing to you and I to of Truth today 2024 things have changed yeah they they they make movies in color now they make movies today about zombies everybody like money money more money greed a whole a whole host of power that somebody wants a lust and a and a desire to have power they the workforce has even changed in our generation just it's just an observation of our present world image things have most definitely changed something has happened in the scope of American culture something has transpired for an example give me just a moment just a small window of opportunity here today the church that we are a part of as an organization I'm thankful for or the organization that we are affiliated with United Pentecostal Church International it started in 1945 right around that time there was a meeting of churches they came together of apostolic Mo uh movements and they they unified efforts in an attempt to try to solidify how the church at that time was was growing they brought their groups together their churches they put a governing power in place where they could be held accountable they had prors the superintendents and and those who work in the church at that time and the fact remains that that all started in 45 or so but in 2024 we as an organization just a point of reference we are in over 200 Nations around the world preaching the same message it's another point of reference not long after that 1946 time I mentioned to you in 194 48 something else happened in our world and that's simply this Israel became a nation smallest Nation if you will they had been through so many wars and battles they had established themselves finally with their own government their own ways of Law and they had become if you will a hot spot of conflict for the entire world even today in 2024 that small nation of Israel is smack in the middle of conflict I mean we're talking years ago and yet on the world stage they are trying their best to remove that established what was done at that point and they're trying to move them off the map even Palestinians today I mean there's stuff all over our nation that is reflecting what the world is trying to say now you can believe what you want to but Israel they are still God's people stay with me a moment from the time of the Tranquil and the simple of It's a Wonderful Life we are living in today's confused and conflicted World things have changed something has happened trust has been broken hope seems to be Paramount that we don't have peace is hard to find love has a different definition Harmony and unity is something challenging at best there these are words that we used to have ideas that we had but now they have passed in a Flash and even in in this assembly today folks sitting under the sound of my voice you have conflict on your jobs you have conflict in your home some of you in your families with your neighbors and ex has anybody here ever push the button on your key to lock your car why why because your favorite coupon book is in that car does anyone have a lock on their door at home watch this hands up put your hand down does anybody have a lock in a deadlock deadbolt they may have a lock a deadbolt and a dog come on somebody somebody say Simply Safe yeah we understand listen the insurance companies sorry insurance companies today they're setting requirements man it's like you know what we don't want to take the blame for the hail damage on your roof so you're going to have to get a rider for that sorry M this it's different it's different in facty the other day I pulled up into a restaurant and there's a sign on a pole outside didn't say we're glad you're here it said please lock your valuables we are not responsible for cars busted into or whatever it said you get behind a dump truck on the interstate what do you see see man it used to be stay back now it's stay back 5,000 yards I'm like not what am I going to do here the trucks going four miles an hour anybody with me come on you can visit a store a theme park a public place and everywhere you look people are trying to pull the responsibility from themselves listen to me because trust has been broken because people are living for the moment hear me I'm not talking about everyone but I'm simply talking about the broad brush that Americans have painted themselves in notice how the letter written to the church at Ephesus said this in Ephesians 4:32 what's it say be ye can y'all help me with this verse this is Bible for the day you ready for it say it be ye kind one to another tenderhearted forgiving one another even as God for the Christ's sake hath be kind one to another now there's you a scripture it focuses on the ability for Humanity to be kind the way that Jesus would want you to be kind loving and caring for one another forgiving one another caring and helping all of these things we all would associate with who Jesus is right but yet in our world it opposes that and at every turn the enemy of your soul is lying and trying to get folk afraid distracted downtrodden discouraged why because if we as individuals we as a church could ever truly trust the word and the power of God what was happening in this room a few moments ago was the hearts and the minds and spirits of individuals that were saying I need you Jesus now my question is why are you saying that is it possible that you finally discovered that without him you're nothing is it possible that the enemy is coming up against you and you finally have realized and open your mouth to declare in the house of the Lord I Need You Jesus why can Jesus change any situation can Jes Jesus heal any Brokenness can Jesus re resurrect somebody who's Dead come on somebody do you really believe in the power of a risen savior or are you sidetracked by the world's definition I come to tell you friend there's only one way hear me to have a wonderful life uh and that is understanding the master of the universe the one in control of all things it is Jesus and Jesus alone so he admonishes through Paul's letter come on love one another trust believe in one another we know that love works love works now again we're in 2024 man love has taken on a whole another meaning you know well I'm gonna get in trouble if I don't watch myself if anybody wants to know my wife is in the nursery today so she's not in here to keep me on track so and I might not let her watch the service brother joh know anyway we live in a society and a culture man think definitions of just got so skewed and so out of whack and therefore trust hope all the stuff that Jesus wants us to be has begun to just kind of disintegrate in our hands now let me let me read something to you boy this has stood out to me for the eons of time Romans chapter 16 this is written to the church man these guys in Rome they were they were doing everything they could do to grab a hold of Truth verse number 16 you ready for this now I'm about to confuse some folk because you've read this verse so many times and you don't may or may not get it you ready salute one another with a holy kiss the Churches of Christ salute you with a holy kiss now again to all of those that are on the feed for the message or the service set up some of y'all have questioned who a pastor's lost his mind last week he's talking about little and I don't have no idea anybody watch Wednesday's footnotes no idea where he was wai till this one comes up y'all better not miss Wednesday salute one another with a holy kiss a holy kiss to some of y'all out there that just sounds extremely gross because your definition has been skewed so much about how our world sees it that it has become a sloppy agapy hold on to me goad it sounds gross to some it's offensive even to others in our current cultural system it even sounds hold on to me anti-biblical now if I were in the youth class today brother George and I was teaching this it'd be a whole another way to do it but I got youth in this room today so I want these youth to understand what Mom and Dad forgot all right hold on to me when it comes to the things of God it is mentioned here most multiple times in the word about how that greeting saluting reaching out to somebody with a holy kiss why is it there and what does it mean and why in the world are you talking about it today in this service I'm glad you ask for to sake of today's message and word I want you to understand something that in other cultures the kiss is very different than it is in our culture hold on to me it's very distinctly different in other parts of the world when when people greet one another and they meet with one another there's something that transpires there now I will be transparent today as all of you know here my wife and I my kids we had an opportunity to serve as missionaries in in South American Central American countries we lived in their culture we lived we bought at their stores we were in their churches we were at their birth parties at their weddings and funerals and one of the most challenging things for me as an American man to come into that situation was this I would walk into a church or into a meeting or whatever and everybody that came into that meeting or into that church service or into that District meeting or whatever it was they would come up to one another and they would pull close and kiss each other on the jaw well I'm an American and I didn't understand that brother Daniel now for y'all want to know in here brother Daniel would to grab a hold of me and pull me up and kiss me I would be okay with that cuz he bigger than me y'all would too don't act like you wouldn't but Brother Sam I have to tell you I get in this country and I don't know the culture I don't know the language I don't know nothing about it but yet I would come in and I'm the good American man I got a woo come on put it there hey how you doing love you praise God these are Mir am I Rob am I right come on lord loves you good God and man they they come up and they' grab and they'd lean in and I'm the whole time they that confession good for the soul thingy yeah listen to me but then here's what I learned after a few months brother George in that culture I figured out something they was kissing on one another too I don't mind saying the struggle was real and then I I'm I'm I'm going teaching the Bible school and so they come into the Bible School class and these students that are hungry for the word of the Lord they come in and they kiss each other on the jaw then I made a mistake and I visited Brazil I was in y way in Brazil it was both sides left and right and if you were in the family there it was left right left and I'm like oh Lord these guys are all day doing this now let's stay with me stay with me and I question that and then finally I I had enough nerve to ask Jaron the young fell who was helping me with my Spanish and then I was translation I was taking classes and I just asked them I need to understand about this culture why did a kiss on the jaw and this what they said jarrison laughed about it he was a young boy lived in America it's got a whole another testimony they got thrown in jail for preaching the gospel and their only thing that extrait them back to your and they St okay they're there in a work Jaron explains to me he said I know this is really silly for you guys but he said when you greet somebody with a kiss you are saying to them I trust you hold on to me hold on to me pastor's not changing nothing today don't y'all don't get scared on me because in this country the Lord's allowed me to deputize twice and I've been in hundreds literally hundreds of churches having service as a missionary and I was and some brother Rob like you probably were where the church was destroyed because a guy came in translated that to be I need to kiss you on the mouth and marriages were destroyed over it stay with me hold on to me brother VY we're going somewhere and so I'm reading this and again I'm I'm I'm trying to con Lord what am I doing today with this word God I don't don't understand what's happening here and in my mind in my spirit I'm trying all that I can do to say I know that our our world has taken what's good what's right what's holy and perfect and that's trying its best to confuse it and clutter it up and put it back into you to where you don't really know what you believe so here's what happens you come into an American Service come here mcade you're my helper are you nervous I would be too you some tell y oh Lord this going the cameras are running now you coming into an American Service and this is what you get y'all was nervous wasn't you you're okay right this is what you get and most listen to Pastor a moment a lot of the times it's the culture and the courtesy to shake hands every one of you if I walk up to you and I shake hands and I don't move it and I don't squeeze your hand what do you feel oh listen to me this is culture this is culture but I want I want to I want to explain something to this church I want you to understand something that the principle that was being taught to the church in Rome the church at Ephesus the church at Corinth you'll find these writings is their entire purpose for coming together why is your heart racing their entire purpose for coming together was not to Simply find a place to hang out on a Sunday but they wanted to belong to something bigger than them you will not find that confidence perhaps on your job you will not find that in your home maybe you might not even find it with the people that should be the closest to you but when somebody walks into the presence of the Lord God they should feel a glory and a power move in their lives and what should happen according to Romans is when you salute when you greet one another there's a holy kiss that happens what that is is simply this I can come up to any one of you men today and I can reach out and shake your hand and if I've got a firm handshake you know what you're going to do men you're going to pause and whoa what's he doing I do it all the time to all of you men on Sundays I stop you in your track have you ever noticed pastor's little way of being an old man you think that's by accident I want you to know I want you to trust me today I want hope to work in you today and this might hurt your hand but nothing like a solid firm handshake to get a man's attention listen to me I'm not talking masculinity I'm I'm not talking feminis I'm not talking any I'm talking simply about what God wants for his people is to trust one another you okay I'm not going to kiss you listen to me you can sit down when I was in Uruguay they would come in and they kiss on the jaw about six months into it brother Don I finally once I got that explanation I said okay Lord you going have to help me you're going to have to help me and the first time I remember that little old lady came into service in a little big church up in the north part of the country and she simply Had No Reservations she reached out for me and when I went to grab her hand she slipped past my hand and reached up and kissed me on the jaw and my wife was standing there I've I've always been one I've tried to keep my I don't know got to this and when she kissed me on the jaw my wife standing there she then turns and grabs my wife and kisses her on the jaw and I'm standing there going honey am I okay and she smiled yes sweetheart you're okay listen to me at that moment something happened in me in me brother Daniel because I figured out if I'm ever going to reach them they've got to trust y'all y'all know how I am in my my personality the way I I know there's a I don't know how why God built me this way but he did I can be very Stern at times because I have to be for myself I've had to stand in the face of the enemy and while they lied in my face and said things I'd have to back them down in the Holy Ghost and I'd have to remove them from the premises and once they got removed from the premises and all the sternness that I had to do as their leader at that point and they'd walk out the door and all the preachers looking at me saying thank you for doing that we should have done that years ago and you finally came and did it and I stood and looked them in the eye and I said I don't like that and I walked away and I sat the chair and my heart crushed and broke and I said Lord I hate being stern like that and I hate having to do that and the Lord said you remember what you've done because there are times in your life Raymond where you're going to have to stand for who you are and there are times when you're going to have to trust that I am working a work that you don't yet see and when I learn the possibilities that that God was doing in my life and in theirs I finally figured out you know what this is not about me this is about him and the teaching that was given in the word of the Lord says to greet one another with a holy kiss now follow this you want to know how powerful this is Matthew 26 notice what said here verse 48 now he that betrayed him gave them a sign saying whomsoever I shall kiss that same is he hold him fast and forth with he came to Jesus and said hell master and kissed him Jesus said unto him friend wherefore art thou come then came they laid hands on Jesus and took him why did the betrayer use this indication of who Jesus was and who he was to become because he knew when I walk in the midst of my brethren I have the ability and the power to greet those and to salute those but when I walk to the one and I kiss him on the jaw nobody's going to question that my fidelity is at stake here my faithfulness to that man is at stake nobody will question it therefore they will drop their guard and you can step in and you can take a hold of Jesus y'all remember the story notice why this was done because Judas had taken it upon himself to be the betrayer the one who would turn from Jesus the one who would indicate him the one who would give him over to the court so that they could make a mockery of him it was that kiss that happened that broke down every barrier and every wall that should have been there it was after the kiss that the disciple pulled a sword it was after that embrace and all of them backed away wondering why and what happened and what was to transpire from that moment I'm reminding the church today of this one thing the house of the Lord God should be a place of Refuge it should be a place where you can gather and you can love the Lord and he can work into your life but I will declare to everybody sitting in this room that many of us have battles even right now with your ability to trust that God actually knows what he's doing on on Jesus Jesus could have stopped Judas it backed away from him and that despising kiss and he could have put his hands up and backed away but instead he leaned in to say I trust what you're doing the indication in that story in Matthew is simply this that kiss solidified the ability for God to fulfill his word church I'm going to ask you a question today there are some sitting here and you're new to church you don't really understand maybe the concepts that apostolics and why we do things and why we lift hands and why crying and why praying one for another and why why embracing one another I've I've come to tell you that we live in a world that's hurting people in a world of hurting people and so many are looking for answers and they don't trust any of them that they get anybody know what clickbait is I'm trying to figure that out VY I'm like click oh that was dumb it ain't at all what that said and I'm like well they don't even know what they put up there it says this but it ain't that come on you can get into a thousand different congregations anywhere in America today and you'll find all kind of stuff going on listen to Pastor for a moment I to tell you though to get into heaven there's going to be one judge sitting at one Throne that's right with two books that's right and he's going to see if your name is in that book and then he's going to see The Works you did according to that name in that book and then he's going to judge you for that and he's going to declare this is what it is this is how you do it I'm convinced that when you this is me you could call this pastor 101 and I'm convinced that when we get to heaven all trust will be there all confidence will be there no darkness no Shadows no none of that will be there therefore I could say I'm going to go and be in heaven forever and I trust what God has prepared for me some of us may argue today you know what when I read about heaven I I don't really understand it all because I don't understand streets of gold Gates of pearl I don't understand walls of Jasper I don't understand forever peace and no suffering and no crying and all that therefore I can't trust it I want you to know something today I greet you and a holy kiss to tell you that the Lord God has a plan for your life Jesus Christ went to a cross to die for your sins and he loves you enough to say if you'll come I'll embrace you I'll snuggle up next to you I'll love you in your mess I'll put all your Brokenness back together I'll heal your heart I'll put your family back in order I know what I'm doing I'm not afraid of what the enemy's doing I got the keys to his house uh he doesn't have anything right now but what I've come to declare to somebody in this house some of you are busted up broken and full of Jo and you've allowed the deceitfulness of this current world and culture to get into your life and you've allowed the sin and the stuff in this world to creep its way in and now you're embracing untruth and unrighteousness I come to tell you there's a kiss there there is trusting in the way that God does things I'm not telling you men are perfect I'm not telling you that I'm perfect I'm telling you this that when the Holy kiss is mentioned uh it should remove the doubt and the fear to indicate God's in control and he's my God uh he's on the throne and I worship him uh I'm not the one lifted up he is uh it's all about him uh it's all about what he says it's how that God does things uh the church is here on a purpose today in this current culture and Society they might be confused and questioning but what Jesus is saying hey Church open your arms love them let him know trust is here faith is here peace is here 121 you all right had a conversation earlier with Brother Sam about the newest article that's out now again I I know that sometimes I get caught up in the world events and I'm trying to keep my finger on what's happening in the world and I saw an article this week about churches are losing young people by the droves anybody else read that one and and and what they found was that it's young ladies yes that are walking away from churches and I said really they're they're saying that to be a part of a church as a young lady is a masculine thing and they don't want you there fact there's no place for you there the article said that in the person writing the article said and we've noticed that that that because of that we need to embrace the women in the church and all this confused talk going on and I again I y'all see that all the time we use ladies in the church here all the time all the time why we even have some that'll preach she's in the nursery today and others listen to me do I believe in women preachers oh I'm going to get myself in trouble whoever's watching this is going to put this on they're going to take this and make this something aren't they well I come to tell you this this is what the scripture says it it talks about in Corinthians you can read it you know women keep silent church thank you Sam women keep silent the church be quiet in the church you want to know why you got to keep it in the context of where it was the women were dominant in that Society because of Diana saying that a how it works you got to find your place it doesn't mean it means find your place I know where I stand with my lovely wife I know she knows where she stands with me I would be foolish to try to overpower her and over strengthen her I would be foolish to do that she cooks food for me and I cook for her y'all thought that was one-sided listen to me I'm simply telling you this that is one example of how our world out there is trying to confuse things in the church come on I would to God that women would be women of the word yes am not and remove the L women of the word huh H come on y'all know my story my grandmother she found the word she found it she gave herself to it come on there the Bible's full of it but Lydia come on work her her she was doing the work of God she know I don't come on y'all can have church at my house I'm here working we got a place in the Kingdom but what many folk have discouraged themselves from trusting the things of God is because the enem is afraid that if men ever find their place and women ever find their place that the young people will find their place and the children will grow up in the fear and admonition of the Lord God then there will be Harmony in the body of Christ did any of you men go to Men's Conference yesterday brother Dane don't you go how was it terrible terrible what was awesome doing what doing I didn't hear sorry 2024 what' you say all the men worshiping together anybody else there how was it Josh what was it you learn anything thing what'd you learn men can come together and worship I'm going help you Sam what'd you learn listen to me listen to me listen you see in our world men are supposed to be superior men are supposed to be all of that in the box of Cracker Jacks men are supposed to be this and this but oh what it is like when men come together and decide I got to get out of the way here my wife and my children need protection and I won't ever be able to protect them but at an altar on my knees because I believe that if he will increase and he will get bigger in my life that I can find my place and therefore I can greet my brother with a holy kiss to let him know you can trust me here and I can trust you here and together we're going to Worship the Lord I want you to know there is Revival in these days there is an outpouring of the Holy Ghost in the last days come on Joel talked about it come on we believing in the scripture that outpouring men women handmade young men you know y'all remember all the people that were involved in that that wasn't just by accident but God was establishing come on brother Dr that there are things going to happen in the end of time that the world's going to be in such confusion it's going to be looking for hope I want to know today is there hope in the house of the Lord today come on is there peace in the house of the Lord today come on is there provision in the place of God today have we put oursel into a place that we reject anything out there or have we put oursel into a place where we understand things out there and we understand that what they're looking for is an Old Rugged Cross they're looking for a place where they can feel complete and whole where they can feel the power of a risen savior it don't matter what background you had doesn't matter what sin that you've come through doesn't matter what lifestyle you've lived in the presence of a holy God you can find peace and hope and Direction and heaven and Heaven I discovered something about those little old ladies and those young guys that in yourway man they were just the finest folk and theyd come up and they kiss me on a jaw I kiss them on the jaw there was a fellowship there there was something that transpired there and once I finally learned they weren't after me they wanted to know if they could trust me that's right did I make mistakes you better believe it man I use Spanish really bad I didn't intend to come on sister you understand man you could use words and they are so close but they ain't the same at all VI byak why you laughing via what is old lady byak a journey yeah yeah you say my wife and I we were traveling yesterday yet they're looking at me like I don't believe I'd have said that if I was you come on I just want to help I I just want God you're the one who called me here I don't know nothing about this help me Lord to be real with folk and it took me a long time to discover what people are looking for on it's Hope on so when you see this salute one another with a holy kiss it's not saying go up and embarrass yourself with them it's saying I need to break down barriers so that we can commune together in loving God once I learned that on I wasn't the only one that messed up my wife came into one of the first meetings and she was hungry she said Woo a what's that mean I have a man what she should have said was Tango am I'm hungry they I looked at her like poor missionary lady's got a baby and oh I'm like oh that ain't at all what I thought it was listen to me come on that's that language you right but I discovered something Sam working in another culture I I didn't know everything in fact I would waste so much time trying to prepare a message that would knock the ball out of the park that nobody would respond I wasn't smarter I wasn't up here they weren't no I was just different the old missionary that was there before me he come to me and he said BR what are you doing buddy I said man I'm preaching he said ' no you're not you're trying to knock the ball out of the park I said well I don't know what how else to do it he said I can tell you preach Jesus on and him crucified that's right right what about they don't care what about I don't matter but what about you know what matters is Jesus he died for them so I man my 18 Pages came down to three double spaced y'all better get up because it's going to be quick Pastor how didd you do it I'll tell you how I did it it was the Lord helping me this is what I felt I'm done I'd spend hours hours Josh preparing a message or a lesson Spanish and English trying to translate it right somewhat makes sense my inflections were wrong my emphasis was off and but I was trying and I'd go into a service I could say glory to I could say those phrases they were so easy to say glory to God you know one time when I heard Glory out ofos I said why is he saying Glory goodbye am I right Glory goodbye adios is bye right I went no that's two God oh man I messed that one up again and I'd get up to preach they'd introduce me the music was great the singing was worship was all fine and I'd get up to preach and I get out my 42 pages of notes and I'd lay them out I was going to read it word for word and i' after crowd calmed down everybody sat down I'd reach in my pocket I pull out a clothes pin and stick it to my tongue and I try to talk that's what it felt like I couldn't get just why am I talking about stuff like that because that's real to me and I learned very quickly they didn't care about me they cared about the one I was standing there representing that's right so I'm going to challenge somebody in this hour right if you came into this church looking for perfect people I am so sorry I am so sorry I'm so sorry if you came here today hoping to find somebody that was 100% better than you I am so sorry that we let you down I can tell you this we serve a risen savior that says I love you you can trust me I will accept you as you are but I will not leave you there I will embrace you and I will car you I will heal your Brokenness I will forgive your trespasses I will cleanse you from your sin I will write your name in the Lamb's Book of Life
