Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Not a Location, but an Appointment

  • He thanks Brother Gibson: what a great reminder today of God's power and ability
  • Because we work in the tangibles, we can become confused with the simple statement David made and try to make the secret place a closet or a physical location
  • David was not identifying the location of it — God had an appointment; God talks to him in the weirdest places
  • Daniel's example of sitting at the window does not mean God will not talk to you if you do not open the window and pray toward Jerusalem
  • The principle in what he said in Psalm 91 is this: God has a place where he is going to answer, and when he answers, you abide in that and hold to it — whether he speaks audibly or is simply opening doors, you abide under the shadow of the Almighty

Scriptures: Psalm 91

Abide Under That Shadow

  • If the enemy could have destroyed you, he already would have taken you out; the hand of nature tried to take our church out, but the hand of God is more powerful
  • Some are recovering from alcoholism, and some had cancer in their bodies that God has removed — you are standing here today still saying, I will stay under the shadow, because it is the shadow of God that delivers and protects
  • Turn around to two or three people and tell them: God is still God, and he's still got you covered — he knows where you are

The Place of Healing

  • There is not one of us who wants to be sick, and that is how we know he is a healer; and we know he is a provider because we have needs — you have to have the one with the other
  • If he is going to show up as healer, watch him show up in that place: this is the place of healing

Praying Together as a Church

  • He has the church take hold of somebody's hand and pray together for the assurance, comprehension, and knowledge to know God is there in that secret moment — the place where we can dwell under the promise, the presence, and the principles of a God who knows where we are every day
  • Pray for your neighbor right now: that God would breathe a word of hope and contentment into them, to know he is still leading, still guiding, and directing their paths
  • His closing refrain: to God be the glory throughout all generations — and stay in the place under the shadow and let God move

Scripture index: Psalm 91.
