The Effects of Worship

accelerate 2023 it's time to take your foot off the and hit uh there we go that's our theme for the year we are in the month of August talking about it so we're talking about exhort he's talking about worship how many beliefs worship is good anybody's worship is good worship is good we have talked in our sessions we talked about what worship means according to the scriptures according to Hebrew and Greek we spoke a couple of weeks ago about that and how that the Bowing down the laying on your face before the Lord The Humbling yourself uh the meaning behind that um also we talked about what worship was not right and then we went into praise and the different types of praise and the positions of praise the hands up the shout the dance the song the instrument the melody and so forth um last week of course we went we continued on that vein talking about uh when worship was instituted how that the people responded and how that worship is what ex gets people from point A to point B tonight I'm going to continue with the help of the Lord I want to talk about the effects of worship everybody say worship how about your neighbor and say you should do that Revelation chapter four we're going to begin there this is the last book of your King James Bible Revelation chapter four can somebody read that out loud for me please brother Vander will you sing that out and I'm joking somebody read that verse for me yeah Revelation chapter 4 verse 11. thank you this of course the last book this is the uh what we see as the revelation of what was to come future out there okay in chapter 4 according to what John says here it says that there's there's a saying that proceeds out and it says all things were created for your pleasure so for God no matter what it is God enjoys us that okay now suffice it to say that it gives God pleasure when his creation gives him honor and glory and power I hope that all of us truly understand that nature itself worships God my grandmother my mom they used to always talk when the storm was coming in and the leaves were moving on the trees that that was worshiped to God when the cows were moving and the camels were spitting llamas were loaming cows were cowing all of that that that was worship to God because nature in its action is worship okay when God spoke Let There Be and then out of dust came out of dirt came out of water came in that manifestation from the voice of God air oxygen came from the tree leaves and things began to move cows begin to snort and deer begin to pant whatever things happen all of that listen carefully is demonstrating to their creator how much they love life now when it comes to humanity of course when we choose to lift up the name of our Lord when we make the choice to exalt the name of our Lord he received listen to this he receives all of that glory and honor and it gives him pleasure he loves the fact that when humans who are how many I don't wanna is there anybody in here let me ask you this way anybody here needy all right don't look at your neighbor don't look don't look at them anybody else needy we're all needy aren't we or some of us might just be wanty um as humans we're we're just needy folk we need air conditioning we need clean water to bathe and we need a good cup of coffee in the morning and all right Revival on the back row yeah um we need something to eat every once in a while we are needy people but listen to me carefully the fact that the God of all of creation has want of nothing to know that it Pleasures him when weeds turn our faces in our hands and our mouths and our hearts to him that should thrill us to no end understand this that we look at god listen carefully we seek God and we ask God for things and many times when we are asking him or you hear what I'm saying we are asking him to bless and to do something for us to us or in US but when you and I turn it around and we send worship and praise to his name it brings him pleasure if we were to learn the real meaning of worship and the real meaning of Praise listen to me and the real meaning of Prayer I think that it would Astound us just how listen how interested God is and what you have to say has anybody ever belly ache to God what'd it sound like what else demonstration Josiah thank you yeah it sounds like it sounds like well I wanted that job how come I didn't get that card yeah now we may not say it that way but our attitude many times speaks I wanted that job I wanted that money whatever here's the fact the fact is guys if we as needy creatures and as we as creatures able to make choices if we can take what God has put inside of us and we turn and we begin to give it back to him it honors him and he realizes you just made the best choice you'll ever make notice what it says in Hebrews through the Hebrews chapter 13 verse 15 16 by him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God when how often I'll some of y'all looking at the screens there you go got it on your phone offer the praises to God continually that is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name but to do good and to communicate forget not for with such sacrifices God is well pleased what is fruit of our lips that like a watermelon oh words is that like when you're when your lips are all smoked up Carly it's not the same right or an apples no the fruit of your lips Josiah is when you have words of exaltation adoration lifting up the name it's coming out you're fabricating words you're generating thoughts intentions creative blessings unto the Lord has anybody here ever been bold enough to complain to God about your situation have you ever been bold enough to bellyache about what's going on and wonder why God put you in that place why why did you turn to that why did that happen why was the fruit of your lips at that point like Persimmons that are green huh well yeah but because for us if if we don't agree or we don't like what's going on in our lives we can complain to everybody right and then therefore we throw God into the mix God you know what I need God why am I hurting why is my life falling apart why is my job this why are my finances and You Begin this discussion most of the times it's a monologue because God's not yelling back at you or saying things back you're just simply venting all right don't again don't turn to your neighbor don't put them on the spot the fact of the matter is according to what the letter said to the Hebrews was there's a sacrifice of praise to God continually that is he's explaining the fruit of our lips giving thanks the scripture also refers to in everything do what yeah well there's a challenge for us all but that's fruit of your lips when we thank him what are we doing what are we doing acknowledging the fact that it came from him easy enough so then why is it the greatest challenge how many have ever prayed for something and God gave it to you and then you said why brother I go back to brother McCool's message a few weeks ago of his grandfather you know you got the guy got a job and he said pray for me in the pastor brother Bishop God don't want any Lord take this job from me whoa wait a minute I'm just trying to get you focused back on what's important a sacrifice of praise unto the Lord means we send praise to him not because of what he has done for us but because of who he is come on bottom line if God was not God you would have something to complain about but since God is God everything about him is perfectly fine now if I'm a side note ready footnote some of us are praying to the god that won't help us and can't we're praying to the money God or to the job God well that's a say that real fast three times we're praying to our our family gods or or to our our house gods yeah they can't do anything what can your money do for you honestly well it yeah it'll pay the bills right well whose bills are they they're yours so why are you praying for money to pay the bill that you don't buy stuff then what would you pray for stuff and then what money to pay for the stuff and see how that Cycle Works it's just this big mix up because the more you have do you realize that as humans we live within our means it's just many times our means are not on the right page with what we have coming in when you communicate with the master what you're doing is saying God I need you and without you I'm nothing I must have you in my life the continual act of worship pleases God if in fact it's true in everything give thanks guess what God is saying in everything every situation circumstance that you find yourself in I will be there for you and if you'll thank me have an attitude of gratitude in the midst of even if you don't understand it I'm still there instead of throwing a tantrum kicking your feet stomping being mad walking away from God running away from church leaving the the family doing what you do going to find your Hideaway hole instead of that if you would let God be God demonstrates to you through that love and compassion how much he loves you and how much he wants to love you the continual act of worship is what we should do we should always want to please God in all things I only knows that's a challenge with a show of hands look around look around everybody point to the perfect one in the room why did you point to yourself Logan oh he's pointing up I saw that you're okay there's only one perfect one right you do realize that you listen to him you can minister to God I come today love and serve you I come today to bless you I come to exalt you come to lift you up if you oh Lord if you'll begin your mourning that way how do you think your day will go I thank you for the for the good night's sleep I had even if it's a bad night's sleep at least it's sleep thank you for this big old great big thing of coffee in my hand right now whatever thank you for the sunrise that's coming up thank you for whatever plans you have for my day today you don't even get those things yet but yet you're thanking him for it how do you think that the Sounds in the ears of the Almighty here they don't even realize what I'm about to do for them and they're thanking me for it already I love that attitude in somebody I love that attitude he likes it when we worship him there's a point of reference I want to talk about for just a moment I'll watch the clock it's about our current world our current system our culture that we live in right now when we as God's creation turn worship and praise unto him then he is exalted and he is lifted up in our hearts and in our minds that's us sending blessings to him you with me it is selfless and it is not about us it is all about him and we turn that praise worship adoration unto him listen to everybody in the world in which we live today what do we see we see selfishness self-absorption self-assertion self-esteem self-exaltation self-confidence our social system has promoted our culture into self things now is there anything wrong with being able to tie your own shoes no that's why you teach your children to do so until velcro came out right um is there anything wrong with learning how to wash the car change the oil put a light bulb in a fixture no those are things as humans we do called life but listen carefully our system in which we live today worship has changed from God oriented to self-oriented instead of exalting him we've started exalting ourselves come on there's books movies there's I cannot it's a side note don't don't be frustrated at me I do not understand how an individual that's 19 years old can be paid 450 million dollars to play a sport are they really that valuable good question that's as much the same question as I still can't understand six dollars for coffee anyway um how is it that our world focuses so much on what we have what we don't have the comparison our poor young ladies are fighting battles every day that it's amazing how the enemies lied to them about value and worth our young men are being lied to every day from the enemy in the our world system telling them they're not worth anything if they don't drive that or do that or live that way listen carefully if that's all you're focused on in your world then the investment you're making in yourself is not going to satisfy you I can give you a real easy easy example has anybody here ever been fired or lost a job wait a minute I thought you were worth all of that how did you get fired or lose a job don't they know who you are huh your value to yourself was wait a minute don't they understand who they need me don't they know how much I bring to the table you know and this is always what always was to me very challenging was after I got fired I had to explain it to everybody no they didn't have room for me I was advancing so much C and you know I was just outgrowing the company and all yeah yeah it was like an agreement you know we we decided that I was going to make so much money I wonder what we do come on ain't nobody ever got fired got home so why'd you get fired because I'm dumb no people don't say that sound no nothing huh I mean did you oh man yeah there's 400 word essay written out I got it this way I gotta tell them I lost my job day honey really what happened uh what had happened was you get this whole thing why is that because of the value that we feel like we're worth has God ever put you down and raped you over the coals from mistakes and mess-ups that you had but the love of God says if you'll just praise me I'll come down and I'll breathe hope into your life right now even in the midst of your joblessness worship to God is needed every day when you enter into the presence of the Lord with all of life's burdens and all of life's ways you can feel the shoulders are bowed down bowed over you're bent down you feel terrible I have seen you have seen we have experience coming through these doors even folk that are living life and and hardships are there in trials and and difficulties and things are happening in their lives and they're so been over with the weight of the world you can actually physically brother rob you can see it on can't you imagine if I can just get here and they get here and and you man how are you this week you could see the wave you could see the burden that they carry they come into the house of the Lord they made it here but they got all these things some of you even right now allow me a moment some of you right now this moment at 7 38 on Wednesday night your mind is a mile a million miles away because life is dealing you a really really terrible hand right now and you're having a hard time raking it in so you can give praise unto God instead you're going in 40 directions if I were to ask you tomorrow what the lesson was about you wouldn't be able to remember much of it because of all the things and stuff in your life that's pulling you away here's the beauty of how God works when you come into the house of the Lord when you come into the presence of the Lord and you're bowed down because of the weight and you're bent over with all of the things going on I've come to tell somebody tonight that there is only one way to respond in the spirit and that is with the hands lifted because if you come into the house of the Lord overburdened Laden down with things and you can get your hands in the air not here not there but there something happens to the weight it is almost a physical expression that happens I've come into the house of the Lord in times past and physically exhausted and couldn't get my hands very high shoulders are sore from hanging 95 pound speakers up in the air or a 90 inch TV up by myself exhausted and just couldn't hardly move in my you know I'm barely aching now you hear me I'm getting older but coming to the house of the Lord and even tell God today I'm sore Lord am I I'm having a hard time Lord you said the lifting of your hands watch me God look watch close there you go got you and I've had to end my own mind and my own willpower I've had to say I refuse to be denied I Will Bless The Lord at all time and even though there are times when I had to lean up against the wall and hold it there somehow in the midst of that the Lord God breathes Life One More Time I've told you multiple times I've come to this Podium I've come to preach at different places and been sick in my body and my mind but the anointing of the Lord come in and touch and things happen as I get my mind off of me and my heart and my mind on him does anybody know what I'm talking about tonight come on as you begin to praise God your spirit begins to respond the weight is lifted you can now straighten your stance a little bit you can now stand up a little stronger if you will why because life is not you centered it's christ-centered huh how many knows that there's only one good and faithful God find him make sure he's number one we talked a few weeks ago about flat on your face worshiping God in a position of Lord I'm nothing here everything God Honors that because you are identifying with who you are and who he is you cannot stay there you then have to rise from that position and you have to put yourself in the position to labor what did David do when the baby died yeah he had been laying flat sackcloth ashes a position of weeping a position of I can't and then once the child he stood and washed and they said what are you doing he said I can't do anything now but what I can do is from this point forward change the way that I live my life because worship friend of mine is more than just a word this world listen carefully is full of religion it's full of religion come on go any any direction you want to go with the religions of our world and you'll find all kinds of places and things that people are worshiping trees animals themselves others around them the effects of praise and worship for a child of God says in everything I will bless the name of the Lord God I will lift up the name of the Lord God how does your praise edify God how does when you open your mouth and you begin to praise the Lord God how does that edify God can you make God any larger doesn't he already feel the universe huh to exalt to edify to worship to praise how how can we get God bigger he's already big showing someone else that doesn't know him sure allow me to refer to this you do realize that this space right here between your eardrums this middle of the coconut right here if you will this middle of your will and your spirit in your heart and your thoughts and processes you do realize that that is open territory God gives you the ability and the right to choose that's real worship when you make the choice to say God I know your God and I choose to Bow before you I choose to sing and and lift my hands do I choose to shout and dance before you I choose for you to be my God that space then that's in your mind and in your heart God is saying I'll only come in there if you'll let me New Testament Jesus says this behold I'm standing at the door and I'm knocking why I'm not barging in there it's your chamber it's your mind it's your heart it's your spirit what I will do is this when the spirit knocks if you'll open what does he say I'll come in I'll sup we I'll be with I'll spend time with you the coolest thing about worship and praise unto the one true Living God is the choice you make says I'm throwing open the windows I'm opening up every door God I want you to come in and have your way in my life I want you to come in and move in my life and if somebody in this house could ever truly develop that attitude of you know what God to edify you means I'm giving you all of the Liberties and the Reigns for my heart and my mind making Melody laughter singing Joyful Noise shouts of Joy lifting hands lifting your head playing music Clapping Your Hands these are ways that you can edify the Lord God let me ask you well let's see it's 7 46 now for us clock Watchers is there anybody in here that feels like you can give a hand clap of praise to the Lord right now now here's the question that that took energy some of you didn't even do it some of you didn't do the good golf one tennis match one you know they're there they don't do that at football games do they imagine a stadium at UT of 117 000. oh do we have anybody in the stadium today I mean orange face and other huh how many tickets would they sell I'll answer that here's the point just a moment ago Clapping Your Hands some of you felt so uncomfortable because a lot is he making us do this well I was just saying are you willing can you do you have the ability to clap do you have the ability to move you can use that muscle structure here's the thing when we learn how to edify God in our praise and we take focus and we give it to him and what we are doing is we are allowing God to be God and whether it's the loud clap whether it's the jumping down whether it's to running around in circle whatever it happens to be some of us in here are very dignified in how we worship because we feel like that's reverence to God I stand here and I tell you that's not true not true the old-timers used to call it being a fool for Jesus they were called Jesus Freaks they were called troublemakers if you will Tomatoes thrown at them you know things launched at them because of of all the crazy things they did let me show you what the psalmist said let's go to Psalm 37. it's on 37. Psalm 37 verse number 3 trust in the Lord and what's it say and do good trust in the Lord and do good so shalt thou dwell in the land and verily Thou shalt be fed listen Delight thyself also in the Lord and He Shall give Thee the desires of thine heart so to delight yourself in the Lord what do you think that means to delight yourself in the Lord anybody love being how do you show that praise what kind of praise a joyful what else come on somebody else how do you Delight thyself in the Lord continue we'll take it someone else delight yourself in the Lord refresh somebody leap yeah what else delight yourself let me ask you husband something you ready for it man mom will help you I'm gonna help you if your wife wants you to delight yourself with her what how do you act how you do it why why is that a little slower what are you trying to do trying to make her laugh oh that's a slow down oh that's slow down oh man my mind how do you delight yourself with someone not just spend the time but enjoy it oh this is not like Christmas at somebody's house that you don't like oh huh yeah you've we've all been in those places right it's family reunion huh I don't mind it's me it's me this is me I got the mic so I'll say it I thoroughly thoroughly thoroughly enjoy being with my wife and my children and my Outlaw children I do man it just brings me such Joy brother Rob I just love spending time we get to eat with them or spend time with them vacation or whatever and I get to just hang out with them I Delight myself in them by making sure that when I'm with them I am with them that my kids know come come to the table come to the table to eat what can you not have Sam you can have your phone I want that thing I didn't come to Delight that phone came to Delight in you I'm gonna help somebody right now even if you're together with God if you're not delighting yourself in him and you're preoccupied God's sitting there going don't y'all ain't figured this out I don't know how to text okay one time and it's done I ain't looking at you with an emoji praying hands kiss kiss hard heart worship cry cry throw up green face and all you know what God's saying I want you to Delight in me how do I do that God I want you to love being with me and I want you to dread our time together I don't want you to think of or consider our time together to be a boring time a time where you're you're just simply going through the motions if my voice was any better tonight I could sing that old song that sister Mickey used to sing I miss my time with you those moments together Wanna Be oh man just the time focused on him no distractions and junk and stuff but say God I Delight in you when you and I as Christians are thrilled and excited about who he is somebody mentioned a moment ago reaching out to others others will see our enthusiasm about our God and in that moment they'll ask that question will you tell me about who you're church is who your God is a Godly life lived as as the word of God directs that's the best way to live you can enjoy your walk with God it can be seen all around you and all the things you do God can be seen it can be seen in in your decisions he can be seen and in the things that one of the coolest things about our nation in the United States of America I don't mind telling you is if I'm at a restaurant I've sat down to eat and they brought me my plate and then they had to go get a biscuit because they forgot him or a row or some of y'all might call it they walk away and they come back and I've already bowed my head to pray I don't know that I've ever had anybody interrupt me but most of the servers will stand back anybody else notice that yeah and then when when you're done they sorry and they step forward now again I've told y'all before when I was in like fifth or sixth grade and I was in the cafeteria at school and my I was trying to learn how to bless my food we had a milk carton maybe this is what I used to use that's fourth fifth grade you know I'd have my meal in front of me and I everybody's sitting around eating and I'd get my milk carton out and then y'all see me pray that's how I did it nobody the wiser except God I guess and then I decided when I got into high school when I got into middle school then High School and and uh our youth group would do monthly Friday night all night prayer meeting remember that Tim hours and hours two three four o'clock in the morning I was 30 40 kids brought out all over the floor speaking in tongues and remember that Tim oh am I right I began to develop a love for God and a desire to Delight in him and sister Keela my prayer that that point changed I know this sounds silly to y'all but then I was willing order yes thank you for love man what you doing over there I'm trying to get you out of my mind in Jesus name we pray amen I tell folk all the time you know why I bless my food now I don't know who's in that kitchen you don't know what they're doing to your food you better bless it huh my nephew always prays the calories out but anyway notice what happens when you lift up the name of the Lord you ready for this when you edify lift him John says it this way 12 and 32 and yeah I if I be lifted up from the Earth what will happen He will draw all men guys as a church family if we'll learn to lift him up the drawing will begin things will happen Lift Jesus up men will come I see the clock our worship is a spiritual magnet and there's just something about y'all there's just something it draws men people people look and wonder what's going on what's the pull the psalmist said it like this and Psalm 24 verse number 7 lift up your heads or your Gates and be ye lift up ye Everlasting doors and the king of glory shall come in who is this king of glory the lord strong and mighty the Lord Mighty in battle lift up your heads oh you gay to even lift them up you Everlasting doors and the king of glory shall come in who is this king of glory the lord of hosts he is the king of glory help me brother Duron what's the last word see law what's it mean pause oh don't you rush through this one who is this king of glory don't jump through it don't run around it stop right there where you are this king of glory is he identifying with who he is then you stop right there for effect you you recognize some of y'all may be better off you hit the key of G wave yeah pause I can see David now with his heart why the Sila means what I take what was said what was done what was activated and I think on it I dwell on it and I pause before I continue lifting up the name of Jesus will give us the victory our daily lives Are Meant To Worship the Lord Brother John would you please come and help me his name his presence is what we should seek after every day couple weeks ago I talked about worship finding that place to get out of the way and let God be God in your lives I want I'm not going to ask for a show of hands is anybody here taken God up on his offer you want to know me come to me be quiet talk to talk to me in a way where you understand who I am don't be coming in here with a list of things but come in here lay before me bow before me and simply identify with who I am and allow me to manifest myself in front of you and in that moment of worship God breathed the spirit speaks the glory of the Lord moves and as you learn that position of worship flat out before God bowed as low as you can come on in the Greek we found out it means what as if licking the hand of the master completely submitted to him if that's the case and you recognize who God is then God moves in your life when we understand when our praise would mean so much more if we knew exactly why we were praising him and we do that by worshiping him and connecting with him this is not some brand new God that just came out of a Cracker Jack's box this is not some new God that was just drummed up and and some artist drew him out to look like no guys this is the one who before anything was he was when all is said and done guess what he'll still be when the life has left your body and you breathed your last breath God will still be God whether you got a million dollars or two dollars God will be God the effects of worship in our daily life lets us to know we need him we're nothing without him all of our righteousnesses are as filthy rags they mean nothing we must have him what will happen when we worship is life-changing mom and dad you want your children to be worshipers you better be a worshiper husbands and wives you want the other one to be a worshiper you'll be a worshiper there ain't no way in this world I'm gonna let my wife out worship me I'm gonna happen if I see her up on this carpet I'm gonna be on that end why not out doing her she's not out doing me we have decided that our marriage and our home and our ministry and the love that we have for you guys is going to be blessed and precious as we together Worship the Lord praise the Lord and lift him up foreign Jesus I need it he desires you and he he is thrilled to hear from you is super excited when you call on him you stop take time to lift up his name tonight the effects of worship are too far and too much and too great and too giant to even mention stand with me would you a couple weeks ago we talked about the different types of praise I hope to God that some of you took some time to study those in their origin so that it would make more sense to you what this really means I know we live in 2023 and we're having I saw this prayer journal the other day you can buy online it popped up on my little screen there because all that stuff does one word prayer brother did you buy it brother Nathan okay made you buy buy your copy you better get them they're hot one word prayer I I saw that and I went and what word would I use I did I thought man great I'm out uh is that right you know devotions with God the one minute devotion I'm like Oh Glory here's another video that was good I don't even know what it said I know what uh well I say I know the intent again I'm not against the devotion thing no don't don't get me wrong I'm just saying Lord we have taken a season of prayer the old-timers call Brother Gibson you know your dad you say let's have a seize and a prayer around the altar what'd that mean I mean you come on you're gonna wow this one this one's gonna be the while this one's gonna be the while ain't nobody turning no lights off anybody anybody else remember that says Sherry remember that as a kid the season of Prayer time of prayer huh and then things say and now we're like let's have let's just have a moment of Prayer okay Ray said go y'all feel that and then I've again I found out this week that there's a word prayer okay Lord I got 90 bajillion words in my vocabulary which one and I couldn't you may have said it right brother Nathan Jesus that may have been the prayer and you can't attach nothing to it because you're only allowed one the book says I'm gonna write that book but anybody buy it 365 prayers for the year in every page is Jesus there you go people like I wonder who proved this who's the editor of this thing best seller the best seller yo y'all listen I am one I am one thousand percent convinced that as a church when we become worshipers and praisers and we understand the value in it and it no longer becomes the ho-hum of simple going through the Aesthetics going through the actions but instead we are honestly willing to say God be God be God I love you today I need you today I bless your name today I'll be a fool for you Jesus I'll be the one Lord God that stands in the face of all things and declares the word of the Lord why because true worshipers will do it two ways spirit there's one thing going to stand in streets of gold those that are full of spirit who know the truth would y'all want to come to an altar tonight and pray it is 807 on Wednesday night anybody want to come and for a word of Prayer would you would you dare stretch it to a moment of Prayer somebody may even may even decide tonight that it's for a time of prayer and then there may be one or two that would say Lord I'm going to give a season of prayer I need you come on Church come on church pray he's worthy to received glory and honor and Power he created all things for his pleasure all things were created for his pleasure I love you Lord I Need You Jesus come on that's right Lord I am nothing without you I must have you I lift up your hands great God you alone are worthy you alone are magnificent you alone are Mighty and awesome you alone Jesus I love you Lord I glorify I magnify I exalt you holy God I Praise You Lord with the lifting of my hands I praise you with my voice Lord I praise you with my mind the Lord God I praise you with My Heart Lord I praise you with my strength Lord I praise you everything Lord that has breath Praises you Praises you Lord Praise Is Your Name Jesus oh come on somebody get close to him tonight make a decision to go into his presence I bless your name I worship your name Jesus I glorify you God you alone Lord you alone are worthy you alone Jesus you're worthy you're worthy you're an awesome God you're a mighty God oh Hallelujah come on somebody that's right spend time with him right now that try to invest the time with him right now we love you Jesus and we need
