Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

Follow Peace with All Men

  • The class reads the text aloud together at his direction: follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.
  • To follow peace is to chase it day in and day out; the world is looking for peace and cannot settle the record, while the church is called to bring the spirit of peace into every room.
  • Holiness attaches itself to peace, and without holiness you will never see God — you cannot even draw an image of him.

Scriptures: Hebrews 12:14

The Words of Holiness

  • He works through the dictionary chain on the handout: holiness is the quality of being holy; sanctification is to make holy, set apart as sacred; consecration, separation and dedication all come back to being set apart; temperance is moderation and self-restraint.
  • His own definition: holiness is a direct reflection of your relationship with God — like the mirror on the platform, the reflection the world sees is the church that represents him.
  • Repentance is the about-face: you turn from the junk behind you and start the journey toward God, but the past you dragged with you does not vanish; you pray through it and keep following peace and holiness.

Set Apart Like the Tabernacle Vessels

  • Under the old covenant the sacrifices had to be without spot or blemish or they were not accepted, and six hundred-plus laws bound the people to the letter.
  • Everything in the tabernacle — the flesh hooks, the pots, the lavers — had one purpose and one purpose only; even the room itself, and the instruments in it, are only sanctified by what they are used for.
  • He sends the class to Leviticus itself for everything there is to learn about separation and dedication, and presses the point home: consecrating your life and your house means some things have to change.

Scriptures: Leviticus (book-only, as spoken)

Be Holy, for I Am Holy

  • Peter's letter is read: gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, hope to the end; as obedient children, do not fashion yourselves according to the former lusts, but as he who called you is holy, be holy in all manner of conversation — because it is written, be holy, for I am holy.
  • A standard, he teaches, is a flag or banner that represents: the church's standards are not lines the pastor draws, for that would be legalism; as you get close to God, God himself speaks to you about your own life.
  • We believe repentance, water baptism in Jesus' name and the infilling of the Holy Ghost — but we do not stop there; that is where the journey toward God through holiness begins.

Scriptures: 1 Peter 1:13-16

Holiness Is Not an Option

  • Holiness is not an option, because if you are not holy you are not going to see God; as much as we believe some things, we must believe everything.
  • Parents must lead their children by their own convictions until the children are old enough to carry convictions of their own.
  • The session closes in prayer: pursue holiness, let the things of the world grow strangely dim, and let his face become brighter in us.

Scripture index: Hebrews 12:14; Leviticus (book-only, as spoken); 1 Peter 1:13-16.

welcome everyone so glad you're here tonight honored that you have come amen let me give a shout out to brother sam last month he did a fabulous job on the foundation of trust now i don't have any of those fancy schmancy uh activity things like he had all right i don't i don't have things like that um but i'm glad that he he taught on that of course the month before spiritual gifts and ministries um while they're handing out these paper this paper for tonight uh please understand guys that we we live in an age of information aren't you thankful but i i i want not all information's truth not all information is true contrary to popular belief if it's on the internet doesn't really make it so i've got a program on my computer where i can edit photos see on my background picture i'm like 32 years old see i'm saying i just i just chiseled away and you know all right i didn't but when it comes to the things of god we have to understand god never changes cultures come societies kingdoms rise fall nations are there then they're gone it's all it's all through the process of time and here we are 2021 guess what this is the best day that you could ever be alive because you don't have any other choice so let's take advantage of that fact if we need more copies the copiers in there you can make some more i only made five and i'm joking but um over this last 2021 our theme has been foundations and every month every wednesday night of the month we have a different topic we've talked if you recall we've talked about giving foundation a family foundation of of uh spiritual gifts and ministries foundation of uh trust truth what else foundation of did that one foundation a family just foundational building blocks of the church all right this month of course we are looking at foundation of holiness holiness now uh if if i may and again you guys if you haven't been in my teaching you know that i'm going to probably pick you out embarrass the snot out of you but i i i believe in in you know inner inner tangling in this that's why i ask questions and expect some response okay ready when was the last time outside of church that you heard the word holiness anybody it's not a term that you know you're sitting around the or while standing in line at walmart and you're just in line waiting to pay for your goods because you're like me you don't want to go through the self-checkout because you don't work at walmart okay um you're just standing in line and the person behind you you just turn around and strike up a conversation so how's holiness in your life anybody ever done that the way waitress or waiter comes to your or the server comes to your table at a restaurant do you simply say you know before we get started has holiness come up in your life today anybody but yet we understand holiness now here turn take your paper don't get ahead of it take your paper and flip it to the backside does everybody have a pen or pencil you're going to need this are you ready this is your task notice we have up here and this will be with us because this is a what's a mirror used for to what to see a reflection you're ready for it on the back of your paper i'm going to give you let's see at 7 19 on the clock that i watch i've got two hours to do um we got somewhere to go herb you got something in the crock pot at home all right 7 20 now i'm gonna give you two minutes on the back of your paper i want you to draw an image of what you think god looks like draw an image of what you think god looks like come on what does god look like i'll watch the clock you draw you know it's bad mandy when mama laughs come on what does god look like to you what is the image of god that you have in your brain in your mind maybe i should have done this in the nursery class they might have had at least there's crayons in there right what does he look like all right we good all right pass your papers up here i'm gonna put them on the internet on their web page i'm joking all right suffice it to say in our minds when it comes to the image of god it's probably different show your image show your drawing to someone does it look like theirs are any of them similar why are you all laughing why are you laughing i'll tell you why it's humorous is because you can't really put parameters of image on the god that you worship and serve am i right because truth is god is unseen he's everywhere all the time and has the power to do anything while he's everywhere at all times we agree all right that said stay with hang on to me for a bit okay as we look at this biblical holiness we have to understand something this is very vitally important you feel free to take all the notes you want tonight on the other side that way you won't be laughing all night if you're drawing you got to understand something our culture and the world in which we live they have a different perspective of god right if i were to ask in a different setting a different locale draw me what you think god looks like i have no doubt that there are some out there that would draw a big dollar sign they may not with the pencil or the pen but they would in their heart and in their mind it's because that's who or what they're worshiping we associate the image of god with worship don't we now there have been and there are today 2021 there are cultures and societies and religions that you can actually draw their god you know it's you can draw their god yeah i like that you know you probably couldn't name that one though could you oh that hurt my back i'm sorry listen to me 2021 we live in a world to where there's a lot of confusion and question about exactly god there's books written songs movies god there there's poems there's things there's all kinds of god things that people have tried desperately to wrap their minds around i'm always astonished in myself now this may just be me i'm always astonished that somebody who dies comes back and said they saw god i'm what do you look like i should maybe call them could you draw what you saw because then then we'd know and then what would we all do we would all run as fast as we could to the plastic surgeon and say i need to look like this all right we're going to use the next few weeks to look at terms some verbage that you may or may not use in your day-to-day conversation you may or may not use at your dinner table on your job wherever you shop these are words though that i'm going to touch over the next several weeks now next wednesday night fyi i will not be here my wife and i are taking a few days next week because i've been gone and she and i are going to go brother dan gibson is going to fill in i've already given him his his assignment he's going to be probably better than i but don't let me know that he's going to use these words as well listen to me carefully number one on your paper holiness this is the webster's dictionary meaning all right this is how the dictionary declares holiness is the quality or state of being holy how's that you with me but then it says sanctify that's holiness second one is sanctification let's look at it since it's in the holy word let's look at sanctification to make holy well there you go it connects back to the first one notice it set apart as sacred consecrate you can go to dictionary.com or wherever your famous or favorite dictionary is you can look these words up then i went to consecration because it's another word to make or declare sacred look it goes back to set apart dedicate to the service of a deity so then i said okay then separation must be important to set apart disconnect disassociate separate and then dedication because it was in another uh definition to set aside for or assigned to a specific function a task or purpose and then i threw in this other one because i think that it's vital for us to understand when we talk about holiness a foundational block of the church holiness we got to understand temperance because that word means moderation self-restraint an action statement etc much like would be self-control now there's a whole plethora of other words that we could use let's go together to hebrews chapter 12. this is a letter written to a group of people and hebrews 12 14 it's on it's on your page there could y'all with a loud voice read out loud with me this should be pretty simple you're ready for it verse 14 chapter 12. you ready every okay y'all okay i want to make sure everybody's there good okay follow peace with all men y'all are slow come on and holiness without which no man shall see the lord follow peace with all men and holiness that must attach itself because of grammar to what with all men without it no man will do what you can't even draw your image of god because you're never going to see him now it was written to the hebrews in this letter concerning how they need to live first of all follow peace what does it mean to follow peace go ahead to follow peace anybody nobody yes sir we'll take it somebody else follow peace yes ma'am okay beautiful somebody else to follow peace yes eloise did you have your hand up attached to your mom's carefully to follow peace means you are determined on your direction and their direction that you're chasing after day in day out month and month out is peace the church does not strive with man the spirit of god won't strive with man we need to understand that if we are going to see god we have got to first of all as individuals and as the church we have got to follow peace because them man in the world man woman children whatever in the world guess what they're looking for in their lives that five-letter word money no peace you know they want peace here's the challenge go to work tomorrow go to school do wherever you are your daily life and ask your your co-worker your your classmate ask them hey do you have peace in your mind well you want to start a conversation hey how was your weekend good are you peaceful uh what do you mean you know i i i'm guilty of this and i'm probably why i get in trouble sometimes when somebody comes how many know you can read somebody's countenance anybody you good at that especially family members like church family members no and i'm they're coming down the hallway or we're rubbing shoulders or here they are and i can see something on logan how you doing buddy i'm good you don't have peace do you yeah no you don't i asked the guy not long ago i was working with i said how's peace in your life dude i haven't slept good for weeks i haven't done some time so what's going on my mind won't stop first thing i told you these are really easy fixes so my my statement to him without being real nosy i'm nosy but i said what time did you go to bed last night man i laid down i was 10 30 or so it's okay what time did you turn off your device well i don't know i usually fall asleep with it and you just told me you're not sleeping well then i get in spurts i said challenge walk in your room take your phone put it under the cushion on the couch and put it down and go sit down ignore it forget about it well man i can't do that sure you could it's in your hand now i bet you do that when you go the shower you know what i'm saying you're in the shower you don't have that foam on some dude anybody have a waterproof phone you're just testing it out go on break go on break i got insurance i'm going to try it out yeah yeah on the back of my phone i have this we call the little scruffy thing a little cleaner yeah i just touch back she shouldn't no you don't do it so yes you can get it out of your hand you come to my house you all know the rule anybody eats at my house what happens when you come to the table your phone doesn't i don't need your phone at my table i don't i don't want your phone there because i don't want to hear what you got to say nobody and heaven forbid lord help me jesus i'm trying not to get on that soapbox sitting right there there ain't nothing worse than hearing somebody else's conversation oh lord help me see i'm up now y'all got me now i heard the guy same job he says hey anyway it's great whatever they are really no longer i'm standing looking at this guy he's walking back and forth all the way down that hallway talking and every third word is not a good word and everybody looking around at him and he don't even know maybe he does finally he combined he looked at me while he was talking i looked at him i went he went and walked away kept talking so the guy was working with guess what i asked him do you know what that guy's life is like he said no i said sure you do listen so anyways don't get me started on a restaurant oh that's the worst chow time not you time stay with me you follow peace as the church why because guys listen to me 99 of our world's problems because they won't let peace in their life they won't settle the record they won't allow peace to come in and and tranquility to override they won't let that come in they want strife they're trying their their you know oh lord misery loves company don't it and if they're all in an upheaval guess what they want next to them somebody's in an upheaval stop that follow peace with that and holiness why is holiness attached to peace um that's a rhetorical hold on i'll come back to you why is holiness attached to peace something to think about why is holiness attached to peace because when you blessed our who peacemaker when you bring pete when you walk on your job and your family wherever you are you bring the spirit of peace with you and as a representative of the lord god guess what then things in your situation circumstances begin to change now the reason i put a mirror up here is because you and i are made in whose image god's image so i'm surprised some of you may have drawn yourself i don't know probably not don seth thank you very much but the reflection that our world is looking for is going to be seen in the church that represents him in the discipleship session that i do i talked about this a little bit a week or so ago uh the definition of holiness this is me 101. you want to write it down fine if not that's fine holiness that is by definition and what i've come to determine in the scripture is a direct reflection of your relationship with god it's a direct reflection of your relationship with him if you start a relationship with god are you perfect are you there no you're on what the journey you just repent of your sins when you repent what happens don't let me get sidetracked the notes go with you when you repent what do you do that's an about face correct so you're walking away from god all you see is junk garbage and filth and whatever problems in the world you got no peace in your life no joy no satisfaction contentment none of that you repent of your sins god forgive me i'm sorry you are physically making a turnabout now guess who you're facing you are now starting a journey towards god and because you're made in the image of god this is what you see as you're walking towards him the problem is is you're still distant so you've got past that you just dragged with you this whole journey problems sin situations junk falling down getting up bad marriage drugs alcohol whatever happened in your life it's there you just turned around does all of this stuff go away now the sin is what it's remitted but the things you went through they're still there that's why you can live for god a hundred years and for some reason a sin or something you did in your past will come back to your mind how does that even happen how can you be in the altar speaking in tongues loving worshiping god hit that door walk out and some junk you did in the past come well i was talking about i'll just my mom's probably watching if not she needs to be several weeks ago she told me she said i'm 80 almost 82 years old and she said just recently came right to my mind you know what you need to go cut your hair she said i never thought that i'm 80 something years old i said mom what'd you do she said i knew exactly what it was i was like devil you are tempting me with some stupid stuff i said mother you know what the understanding is there is it's always going to be there what do you have to do you've got to get over it what the old timers used to say when you hit those obstacles is what you need to pray through it now see we all want a quick fix pastor anoint me with oil so god will come and pick me up and and bring me over the top who set me down no some of that you're gonna have to go through kicking get out of the way i'm following peace and i'm holy because i'm going after god stay with me hang on to me a minute holiness is a word that we don't use a lot in our modern culture because it is not the nature of the day in which we live okay it speaks of actions and activities that are very difficult for men let me ask you a question how many understand truly sanctification and dedication and consecration how many really understand those things it's difficult you can understand the verbiage the meaning if you will but to truly live it if the pastor says to you you need to consecrate your life to god what would you do is that an okay question if somebody comes you say you know what your situation is you need to dedicate your life to god how would you do that it's a rhetorical question hang on to me you're all right rj you're okay buddy i'm glad you're listening nobody else got their hand up if i said you need to sanctify your home what would you do i tell you what you would do you would look at me and because you love me you would probably say yeah you're right and you get in your car and you go to your house and you climb out of your car walk in your house and you go right about life's business because to consecrate to dedicate and to sanctify something means you're gonna have to change some stuff i've counseled folk before and they say man i go home and my life is just just an upheaval they're screaming and yelling there's just a bad spirit i say okay when's the last time you went through your home anointed your everything in that house with oil oh you're crazy you better believe it because the enemy is not afraid of me he's afraid of holiness and there are times friend when you got to get mad at yourself and say you know i refuse to live and walk that way any longer but instead i'm going to consecrate my life to god listen to me in the old testament see when you talk about separating things that becomes a challenge for somebody in the old testament in the old tabernacle how many how many know that there were sacrifices required to be made yeah we don't do that today because of grace because of mercy okay those are new testament terms if you will that that we kind of embrace and we kind of throw everything at that but stay with me the fact of the matter is this when we talk about the tabernacle that was the type shadow of what was about to come for salvation the people of israel god's chosen people you realize if they did not follow the law to the letter of the law they were lost 600 plus laws if they broke one of them they broke all of them didn't matter which one they lived by that listen to me and there was no denying that they still had sin in their life you know how that everybody knew because when they went dragging that goat or that ram or that turtle dove or that sheep or that cow whatever it was to the tabernacle for sacrifice guess who was watching and if it was not see we live in a world that says well as long as you got it there it was accepted and going on no don't get me on that one there were people that got to the tabernacle with their goat their sheep whatever and it was not accepted because it had spots or blemishes or they got it the wrong they stole it from somebody there was something that happened with that sacrifice guess what their sin remained with them and by law certain ones they deserved to be stoned for the sin that they had done so you come in the new testament church you can come in here and everybody think you're just fine you got a dress going on you got sleeves going on you got pants going on you got hair going on and you walk in here and you give you pop your neck every once in a while come on we're apostolic and everybody in your church said whoa lord blessed him tonight you walk out that door you don't even know it they're full of dead men's bones they're not sanctified or consecrated under the things of god they have refused to separate themselves 2021 this this this room that we've set up here i don't know if anybody knows it or not but we eat food in here too we put tables out we move the chairs because it's our fellowship area it's all we got old testament i'd have been stoned at the door why because this is the sanctuary set apart sanctified for the worship of god you hear me but so would this instrument would have been burned already those instruments all around would have already been trashed because they not only play things unto god they can play things unto whoever god just because it's a keyboard doesn't mean that it's sanctified and holy it's what you do with that y'all stay with me so a lot of folk don't want to talk about separation thing of is in the old testament days those flesh hooks those earth pots those ash pots the the labors of water the things that were needed to cause sacrifice unto god they had one purpose and one purpose only and you could not remove them change them or put them anywhere else it was for one thing it was set aside for that service you realize that the priest the high priest the workers in the tabernacle come on you want to know about separation dedication you go back and read leviticus oh lord help us it'll show you everything it is about separation now it's old testament terminology i heard something this past few days that i wasn't so sure that i really caught it say with me somebody called in saying i want a tithe because i feel like it's important to give to the things of god but that is an old testament requirement it is not a new testament requirement correct so that said as long as i give to god in some certain way i am fulfilling what god's telling me to do is that correct that was the caller called in on a talk show that i was listening to and so i'm like well this is an interesting question so the guy who was there answering questions guess what he said it didn't surprise me he said you know what that is an old testament law we now live under grace so now we have the option to consider or to think about old testament things but the fact is god is only looking at your heart and the caller is saying okay thank you and hung up and i'm sitting there saying what does that mean does that mean brother gibson that then technically as long as i think that i gave a thousand dollars out of a ten thousand dollar check then i'm okay i think i did because it was there you know i'm sorry but that old adage that somebody laid out years ago that you know it's the thought that counts no it doesn't i tried that before i got in big trouble honey i thought of sending you roses for valentine come on man how'd that go honey i thought i was gonna buy you that but you know i did think about it though how how valuable is that dakota don't do that you'll get in trouble how valuable is that thought darron not very but didn't you think of it here stay with me hang on to me holiness is what we're talking about when we get to dedication consecration if indeed holiness is a direct reflection of your relationship with god then what should we do with our relationship with god we should do everything that is possible within our power to get as close to him as we can every single day when we pray when we talk to god when we come into the house of god when we're at our jobs when we're at wherever we are we're following peace and holiness now stay with me at 7 47 i'm okay on my time there there there was a time in our past to where holiness was connected to doctrine and teaching so much so that it became then the word was used standards they have standards at that church or they have standards what they believe they have they have standards and that's holiness and there was generation that came and generation that came and another generation that the word standard began to be to be almost a a bad word because it was so skewed and it was compromised in so many ways anybody tell me what a standard is first of all basic definition a standard a what set of principles what's a standard yes sir very good osha has a standard or 9001 standard okay anybody else what's the standard if you need a serious theory what's the standard there's about 15 different definitions i can give you a really basic bottom line one word a standard is a flag it's the banner that represents civil war when they ran through and they were attacking the enemy they had a standard bearer and the flag and he's running and dodging bullets and matrix a standard is what represents them we have a standard united states it's called oh glory stars and stripes stars and stripes i still respect that i still get the goosebumps i still stand and salute or put my hand over i don't care what the world does my standard i believe in that i've lived in third world countries where they'd shoot you for it but i don't bother me listen to me carefully so what standards that word associated with church began to be kind of twisted and turned a little bit stay with me so much so 2020 21 whatever now when somebody is out of state i cannot tell you the quantity of times that someone has called me and asked me are you an apostolic church yes what do you believe oh i just want to make sure why why do you ask well because not everybody that says they're apostolic are really apostolic what do you mean what does that mean well you know they used to or they once or now they don't have a standard sure they do it's just obscure and it doesn't look like the reflection of god they still represent something that's the balance that every church has to go through ask brother duran when brother duran's putting music together i have all confidence and trust in him because he already knows my thought my feeling on some songs and he's even multiple times as a minister of music come to me pastor what do you think about this song so i don't know so i listened to it i said well that's a good beat that's a good rhythm what's the word say sure if you think you can do it i honor that in him that he honors that in me why because he does not want to defame what the church is doing he understands the banner we are apostolic we believe in repentance water baptism in jesus name and the infilling of the holy ghost evidence and speaking in tongues we don't stop there that gets you on the journey and about faith now you begin your journey toward god through holiness listen carefully let's go to first peter chapter one notice here again and this is a short letter wherefore gerda this is verse 13 the loins of your mind be sober and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of jesus christ verse 14 as obedient children not fashioning yourselves according to the former lust in your ignorance but as he which hath called you is holy so be ye holy in all manner of conversation because it is written what be holy for i am holy now is anybody in here as holy as god why because we're not god but we are made in his image we are reflecting him now this is what happens in holiness the reason that is a foundation of the church listen carefully there's a billion and eight churches fellowships congregations buildings whatever that you can go and attach yourself to and they have great programs they have whatever for whatever for anything of whatever you're with me yeah you can go monday tuesday wednesday thursday friday saturday and 15 times on sunday whatever you want it's out there agreed but if you don't have a reflection of god then all you're going to be then is an event that is being held and it might as well be the rotary club but when it comes to salvation if you are going to see god you've got to attach yourself to something that's holy church is social agreed well i'm thankful for that i'm glad that you don't sit over there and i sit over here and we go hey we walk out i'm glad that we can get close you know or at least fist bump with whatever we do in this generation this new normal listen carefully if we're going to be the church in this hour friend of mine let me tell you something what this world is seeking after is the same thing that they were seeking after in the garden relationship with their creator what separated man from god disobedience go to genesis read it disobedience to what god's if we're going to believe acts 2 38 we better believe that we got to be holy now pastor what are you saying that i need to wear this or i need to look this way or i need let me tell you something if you're getting close to god god's going to speak to you in ways that i could never speak to you if i said to you right now you don't need to wear that black shirt guess what i just did to him i set the standard he now is going to explain to you about my thoughts on black shirts because that now becomes legalism following the law that came out of my my mouth but if i say to him they're my glasses they're the dollar ninety-nine i wanna worry about you follow the word then when he gets in the word it says to follow peace with all men guess what he now has to do he has to give an account for that word that god spoke to him to say if you're causing the problems issues or whatever you need to stop doing that listen you know what our world's greatest problem is now aside from all the other stuff is everybody wants rights and everybody's right and don't want to be wrong this is me this is you you do you y'all do me and the fact is when you stand before him at that day you're not going to be able to say but but didn't i cast out devils didn't i didn't i didn't i and the word he's gonna use for you is what i never knew you you didn't have a reflection of me in your life notice five minutes to eight on this session of holiness now i've got three more that i'm going to teach brother gibson's going to teach next week and i got three more we're going to talk about some things of holiness dress presenting ourselves pastor you're going to be drawing a line you're going to be listen to me i don't draw any lines i look at this and in 2021 culture listen to me it is so easy to confuse the distinction between what god has made holy and sanctified and what the world out there says you should do the world doesn't even sanctify the life of a child how we gonna listen to them now that's as basic as it gets sister stacy they'll they'll look at something and say it has no value because of because of greed because of selfishness because they want to have it their way i mean i'll tell you what dude if you're if you're anybody here a boss at your job have people that work for you and okay when they come to you in tomorrow this week tell them when they ask you a question say no don't do we're not doing that no no we're not doing it what do you think they're gonna say he told me no y'all laugh because you know it's true why is that the case come on what why is that the case everybody's got rights i i get so exhausted this is not pastor soapbox this is scripture i get exhausted at people saying well i'm just not happy do you realize that happiness is not promised but we all want to be happy whatever makes you happy are you happy yeah no i'm not why aren't you happy well because and here it goes holiness there's a foundation of holiness that god required listen to me this is not an option holiness is not an option because if you're not holy you're not going to see god i didn't write that that's scripture and as much as we believe some things we better believe everything now there's some scriptures at the bottom you take this home and you make your notes maybe work on your drawing a little bit james four first john two first corinthians nine first thessalonians five listen carefully when in holiness y'all listen to pastor man i'm gonna help you i'm going to help you through some things mom and dad if you've got children at home they are not the boss this is not a soapbox i'm giving you facts they are not going to have convictions they're not old enough to understand what a conviction is anybody understand what a conviction is you may want your definition of a conviction what is a conviction somebody it's a standard that you go by because it's yours it's not my conviction it's yours i told my children when they were little daddy why can't we how come we guys i tell you what you don't have you're not old enough to have convictions yet you're getting there so until you get convictions you're going to live by mine bottom line as my young daughter used to say all the time you're not the boss of me she's telling her brother that you're not the boss of me you're not going to tell me what to do and steve would just look at it and he'd look at me and i'd say you're not the boss of me hang on to me again i know right now i know in the holy ghost and i know in my flesh right now on either side of this coin i want to look at there are some of you that have just turned me off because you don't understand you think that you can do whatever you want and walk into heaven and act like you've called the shots let me ask you a question if that were true which mansion in heaven would you choose i'm going to tell you what god's going to give me mine and you say your little self in front of mine saying you're going to take mine over game on baby no i know what i had to do to get this i know the miracles that god did in my life i know the stuff that i had to walk away from i know the choices i had to make and some of them weren't easy i could have went along with the crowd and been out of my mind like the red but i said it ain't happening why because heaven is in view and if i'm going to see him i've got to be holy another question my time's almost up listen carefully if you want to do that and walk into heaven then question what you're going to do with the crown that you get because some of you you'd get the crown and we'd be standing here and the whole of heaven will say this is all the things that god gave me the jewels that are in it or the things that i was able to accomplish and god thought this is what made me this is who he said but you know what i count it all nothing i offer it to him and then as the 20 and four elders fall down on their face you better know i'm going on my face before god but if you don't give up your crown what you're going to do stand there crickets ain't no pride gonna be in heaven come on everything that you're afraid of perhaps if you'll learn to consecrate dedicate separate yourself unto the lord god will make a listen to me carefully please and i'm shutting up listen carefully the bible the scriptures the word of god from one generation to the other doesn't change but if we in this culture allow that outside to get in here we have lost the whole purpose liberty in the word of god liberty and the spirit does not mean that you have separated yourself from the things of this world no it means that you have accepted what god has required of you to do the world would say y'all are in bondage you live that way you dress that way you don't cut that you do cut that you don't paint that you do paint this and they're saying your bondage and it's legalism i look at them and say since when you're the one how much money did you spend on that that's on your face and i'm in bondage hey buddy how many cigarettes you smoked today well just two packs and that's how much and i'm in bondage you got to leave here and go where to what bar stool to sit and drink what and then how much but i'm the one that's you realize when i laid my head on a pillow at night i look up at the heavens and i say thank you lord for the peace that passes all understanding i honor you lord i i know today i might have messed up i probably tripped and fell said what i sure whatever it is and i am so sorry god i'm trying i am trying lord to live according to your word but when i lay and close my eyes there's peace that can settle into that and in the morning when i wake up i don't have to be frivolous in there what's going on what's happening listen i enjoy my quiet time when i climb out of bed and i make the bed and i get that's right i make my bed when i get up and i get all the 14 pillars up there and i go to the big old brother so-and-so his name is brother bun they're on my coffee bar and i pour it and it's still dark outside and i go sit on my back porch swing and i breathe that first breath that i can recollect lord you're still here i can breathe in your presence i have my struggles and my trials and things that happen but god i choose to love you live for you and serve you stand with me would you please we have to conform to god's character if god is holy and we have to be holy if we don't really understand what holy is it would behoove you in every ounce of energy that you have to discover holiness god what do i need to do to please you i am convinced that revival will come to the individual heart when you pursue holiness how many people have come into this assembly sat on these chairs and brother gibson at the end of service go out there tears running off their face what's their first statement i never felt nothing like that and i walk out the door messed up and we may not see him again you want to know why because holiness is a price that you've got to pay now i wish i could say that the bible's wrong and that heaven hath enlarged itself and the the way to hell is straight and narrow but that ain't what it says to get to heaven it's a straight narrow path it is you do it it's a path it's right there but hell is enlarging itself it's in a building program constantly i don't judge them to you the word does but it would be a shame for you to come into the presence of god and not truly be able to enjoy what he has for you because you don't want to change your reflection lift your hands with me all over the house lord help us god to be holy we all know lord we are a work in progress we know we we are well capable of stumbling falling and and hurting ourselves and falling into junk and garbage and there's sin that really easily lord it besets us and throws us off but but god i pray tonight that there would be a passion for holiness that would overshadow this room and that the heart of your people lord would once again hunger for holiness run to you pursue you with diligence take eyes off the things of the world let them grow dim and put our eyes on on the reflection of you and our hearts and lives i believe lord that if we'll pursue holiness that backsliders will come home more because of what they see happening i believe that co-workers lord will come because they see a reflection of you it is in the heart of man lord to want a relationship with you it's just the choice that has to be made god almighty help us tonight to pursue you in the name of jesus to hunger for you run after you to look for you in everything let peace lord god settle on us through the holy ghost and help us god to have a prayer life help us lord to have a bible reading life lord a time where we spin with you in your word jesus let the things of this world grow strangely dim and let your face become brighter and brighter in us lord i plead your blood over every family every individual every heart every home that's in this room that's online watching god i i plead your blood over each one without holiness we won't see you you're holy we must be holy your holy god we must pursue holiness give us the wisdom and the knowledge and understanding we need lord to run to you and wrap our arms around you every day come on churches or anybody just wants to pray right now lord help me to be put on the right path help me god to make some tough choices to consecrate my life separate myself for you lord unto your worship unto you o god and for your work and labor in this hour come on somebody are you willing to separate yourself from the things of the world are you willing to be in the world but not of it and live your life according to his word come on pray lift your voice lift your hands to heaven lord i thirst for you i run to you i hunger for you i want to know you jesus the hand of somebody close to you pray with them as you before we leave here god anoint my brother tonight my sister tonight breathe hope and life into them lord give him a hunger and a desire for the things of god let them thirst for righteousness let them desire lord the sincere milk of your word as they grow oh god i pray that you would speak to them lord help our parents as they lead their children closer to you let there be revival in the heart and in the home lord i pray anoint today god i know lord that you have a plan and a purpose for the church let us be found doing your will in this hour in the name of jesus in the name of jesus come on lift your voice to him i love you lord and i trust you my hope is in you my my hope is in you jesus thy kingdom come lord thy will be done love you jesus we love you jesus somebody say in jesus name
