Summary

Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.

The Word filled this house

  • Before this sanctuary was occupied as the church's permanent home, the whole scripture — from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22 — was read aloud in this room over about five days, every word of it.
  • That was not an accident: everything bathed in the Word of God, God is in it, and God is blessing and moving.

The next generation in the altar

  • The little ones shout in the altar because Poppy's over here; church is not about sitting looking pretty — church is about change, about the Spirit of God working in a life.
  • The next generation is waiting on this moment to declare their future.

Thank you guys so much. Thank you so much. I was reminded as brother Ellingsworth began to lead us today in prayer and in committing this to the Lord. Some of you may remember uh about a year or so ago that we were getting ready to open up this sanctuary. Anybody remember those days, late nights? Anybody remember painting and trying to hurry and finish and get chairs said? Anybody? Just me. But before that, I felt so strongly before that we were going to occupy this room as our permanent sanctuary that we would read the word of the Lord. And in about five days time from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22, every word in the scripture was read aloud in this room and it filled this house. Listen to me carefully. That was not an accident.

Because everything that's bathed in the word of God. God is in it and God is blessing and God is moving. Come on, look around you today. Some of y'all weren't here last week or a month ago or a year ago. Look what God is doing in your life. Amen. Aren't you thankful for the power of a church in your life? Come on. This may not mean much to anybody, but I am so thankful today that my grandbabies are shouting in this altar. Although they don't understand it at all, they just think it's a great place to do this. Anybody want to guess why they do that? Because Poppy's over here, baby. Church ain't about sitting looking pretty. Church is about change. Church is about the spirit of God working in your life. I'm going to do this until I can.

Come on now. They're a little more nimble than me and can do twists and turns and flops, but I believe that the next generation is waiting on this moment to declare their future.
