Buy the Field

I want to get right into the word of God tonight and share some things with you our theme for this month is in large and we are experiencing that we are expanding we are moving we are enlarging going to a new facility that's exciting with a lot of uh uh dreams to go forward and vision to go forward think Pastor for his vision and his love for Souls that we are moving forward amen praise God but if you take your Bibles we want to turn over to Jeremiah chapter 32. and we're going to be reading in verse 7. amen praise God enlarge and today I want to talk to you about the field and the subject of this very lesson is by the field by the field and here in the word of God Jeremiah was in prison and uh the enemy had encircled all of the city and the King himself had thrown uh Jeremiah into prison and his uh his the son of his uncle came and he asked this question while Jeremiah was in prison he said by thee my field that is in my hometown and for the right of redemption is thine to buy it if you could picture in your mind here is a individual that is in prison and uh he has no hope of getting out and he doesn't know what tomorrow holds but he knows that God has spoken to him that when the word of the Lord would come to you and your your the your uh uncle's son would want you to buy the field I want you to buy it why should I buy it why should I get involved in something that I might not benefit from and he goes on to say that that came to pass and in verse 8 it's it says for the redempt the right of redemption is thine and the Redemption is thine buy it for thyself then I knew that this was the word of the Lord amen when the word of the Lord comes to you and the word of the Lord challenges you and the word of the Lord says go ye into all the world uh when the word of the Lord said you shall receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon you oh to believe the word let us believe his word let us believe his promises for everything must come to pass uh every prophecy everything that he foretold would come to pass will come to pass praise God so if I could encourage you today uh the Lord has set a great harvest in front of every one of us we are all at the threshold of a wonderful Harvest field and I was thinking about this city in the Metro Chattanooga area and I began to read some statistics about it and what I read there's over 570 000 people in the Chattanooga metro area what a challenge to the church what a challenge to this local assembly what a challenge to each and every one of us the field by the field and and it goes on to say that he did by the field uh even though he would not live in it even though he would not build his dream home upon it even though he would not personally benefit from it could I present to you somebody would benefit from it somebody in God's plans and that's what the Great Harvest is all about uh when we plant and we sow there's a God that's going to give the increase and it could be generation after generation you might plant seed in this generation and the benefits will be reaped in the Next Generation and the following generations to come by the field it's a challenge to every one of us how do I buy the field uh what do I do do I take out money and just buy the field buy my part and to the kingdom of God no we present ourselves I beseech you therefore Brethren by the mercies of God that you would present your body a Living Sacrifice holy and acceptable unto me which is your reasonable service be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of the mind that you might prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God you present your body your living Tabernacle you that Tabernacle or that Temple of the Holy Ghost that God could funnel his Spirit through you I stand today as a recipient and I've mentioned this to you before I stand here as a recipient of this glorious truth someone shared this glorious truth with me someone shared it with my father someone shared it with his grandmother it was passed down this wonderful truth it was because someone bought the field praise God that said I took ever since verse 11 it says I took the evidences and purchased both that were sealed according to the law and the customs and that was opened and he goes on to say I want you to put this evidence uh in verse 14 put them in an Earthen vessel it's sealed it's placed in if you could picture the the documentation was placed in a Earthen vessel that one day that there would be houses and Look What the Lord said in verse 15 for thus saith the Lord of hosts the god of Israel houses and Fields and Vineyards shall be possessed again in this land praise God it even though the enemy has come all around us and has encircled the city and it was already controlled by the enemy but the Lord said the houses and The Vineyards and the fields are going to be possessed again in this land it's a big picture that's being painted to us what God does and that's what he did he went on to buy the land and he said he said in verse 17 that oh Lord God behold thou Hast made the Heaven and the Earth by thy great power and stretched out arm and there is nothing too hard for thee there's nothing too hard for God if you will believe his word if you will believe his promises uh if you will allow yourselves to be a conduit for the spirit to work through there is nothing too hard for God but you don't realize that I'm in prison or I've got this situation or or I'm bound a bogged down with these cares of life and all the things that comes with life but here the challenge was by the field for yourself praise God praise God and he said he said I'm going to bring them and over on verse 40 he said I will make an Everlasting Covenant with them that I will not turn away from them to do them good and I will put my fear in their hearts that they shall not depart from me yea I Will Rejoice over them to do them good I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul and it goes on to say in verse 44 uh 43 and 44 filled shall be part in this land in verse 44 it says men shall buy fills for money and subscribe evidences and seal them and take Witnesses in the land of Benjamin so they put those Earthen vests so they had the documentation in the earth and vessels and it stood the test of time and in time people begin to buy he was a Kinsman he was a redeemer he was part of the Kinsmen Redeemer he had a Redemption a right to it if I could present to you every one of us we have this treasure and an Earthen vessel that's excellent see maybe of him and not ourselves uh you are living Epistles known and rid of all men uh it's in an Earthen vessel but it's sealed there and it's to be delivered and one day hey as a result of your involvement in the kingdom of God there's going to be Harvest of Souls praise God praise God Matthew Chapter 13 and verse 38 37 says he that sought The Good Seed as a son of man when they asked him about the pair the parable of the tares in the field the field is the world the good seed are the children of the Kingdom but the tares are the children of the wicked one in the midst of this glorious field uh there's tears but there will be seed planted among the tares uh there will be wheat a harvest in the midst of that uh and and the the son of man the Lord himself is that good seed Amen to plant the seed the seed was planted in your heart through the word of God the gospel was preached to you it began to germinate through repentance uh water baptism in Jesus name the infilling of the Holy Ghost begin the process uh where where you would there would be growth in your life and the growth became free fruit and the fruit became something that others partook of the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life than he that went as Souls his wise praise God you see that process that God is doing and there is going to be a harvest but the enemy of your soul he's trying to plant tears into your heart he's trying to plant things that would cause you to to turn from what God has ordained for you to do but there's going to be a harvest and God is interested in those that will be planted in his field praise God verse 44 it says again the Kingdom of Heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field the which when a man hath found he hideth and with joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath and byeth the field we spend a lot on things in this life what you enjoy what what you take pleasure in you're going to spend it on that could I challenge you once again the greatest thing that you could spend your life on is the work of God God's kingdom God's glorious plan that he has for Humanity Paul said these words he said I will very gladly spend and be spent for you what do we spend things on we could spend it on Pleasure we could spin it on entertainment we could spend it on this and that there's so many things that's why there's such a great Pursuit for money if I could have more money I could have thing more things that I could spend it on but oh if I could just realize that the greatest thing that I could do is spend my whole life for him Here I Am Lord I'm going to be spent for you as Paul said I will gladly spend and be spent for you he said this my mouth is open and my heart is enlarged his preaching and his ministry he would open his mouth and preach the gospel his heart's heart was enlarged he had continuous sorrow for his people according to uh the people of his his own people he had continual sorry for that and he said ye are in our hearts to die and to live with the you you are in our hearts many things that he he would say he said I become all things for all men that I might win or save some by all means save some in other words I I I I I blend in and I I work my best to try to reach to save some praise God what you spending your life on what you what you buying in this life when that man found that treasure he took and he went and he sold all that he have to buy that field why because the real treasure is in the field the real proof in the pudding is in the action of what God is doing the church is in a great hour we we are in a great time this is a wonderful time and and we've been looking at a missions home and abroad and I wanted to focus a little today tonight on on home missions that's one word has been called it's been called North American missions uh it's been called Metro missions a church in a day some of you might have been involved in that I remember going and we helped build this one church and boom they put it up they had the foundation late and a lot laid but in one day they put that church up amazing it was a unified effort that they came together praise God church planting equipping and supporting Christian prison ministry all kinds of things that are involved in the kingdom of God why because it is about souls the field is the world doesn't take very far just to walk out these far walls and you are in a great Mission field amen and the challenge to every one of us what part can I play and what can I do my dad he went to Great Falls Montana when I was a little baby and they they said this uh they said we need a pastor out there it was definitely what you called home missions or it was right out on the front line so to speak this was back when Montana was seemed like a far away and they said we'll take you side unseen so the preacher went their sight unseen and they didn't know who he was and the people didn't even uh I mean and he didn't even know who the people was can you imagine I'm just gonna go take this church side unseen but he went and he began to plant and he began to water and what happens God gives the increase the the principles in God's word God gives the increase I didn't understand that as a growing up little boy there what what it was all about but here was someone that that left the old Piney Woods of south Louisiana and he went up to Great Falls after a period of time he heard that they needed a pastor in Louisville Colorado and he went as a Pioneer preacher and began to work a harvest in a little town in Colorado I really briefly remember that all I thought it was just just parts of my life but as I get older I realize here is someone launching into the unknown sometimes you have to take the step of faith and launch into the unknown and and God's always there he will never leave you nor forsake you I've never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread oh to realize that this Great Harvest is just just right here at our doorstep and and there are those that can be a part of it in this last day praise God I had the opportunity of working in home missions in uh Statesville North Carolina when I just finished school and I went there and I began to assist with the brother and they had a guy there that we were teaching him a Bible study and he came in and he got the Holy Ghost got baptized in Jesus name and I'll never forget his name he played in a band his name was dude reefer and the pill poppers but the Holy Ghost made a difference and he went from that style in that life oh there's none righteous no not one and such were some of you but now ye are washed Sanctified justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the spirit of our god it takes a difference that's what makes the church so beautiful we come from all different backgrounds we come from all different ways of life and things but God's Precious Blood brings us together in unity of body functioning uh speaking the truth in love that growing up together in him dude reefer and the pill poppers but he went from that to playing the drums and playing the guitar loved God and became a great Soul winner God's investment in Souls by the field I'll never forget I was in a Bible study one time and we were teaching this couple and I kept on here the wife say get out of there get out of there I said what in the world is going on finally I popped my head around the into the kitchen and looked and it was uh uh Thanksgiving time and there was a big old turkey that was thawing out in the the sink there and the cats had been eating it they're eating it and here I was drinking coffee and I was wondering what was all in I was in that coffee but praise God you become all things for all men that you might save some there are humorous sides there then there are sides of excitement there are sides of Joy there are sides of sorrow but the balance in the kingdom of God it's worth it all an investment of a soul they're there they're hungry they'll be coming into our doors they'll be looking for a friend they'll be walking in there in prayer service amen getting the Holy Ghost praise God get baptized in Jesus name thank God for that amen praise God amen Ecclesiastes 11. and verse 4. interest in scripture over in the Old Testament amen praise God usually mark my Bible but I didn't on that one observing how do you observe 11 4-6 he that observeth the wind shall not sow he that regardeth the cloud shall not reap oh there's a storm coming oh it's I think it's going to rain I can't get out in the rain always you know I've got I've got all this problem on my job I've got this problem I've got car problems uh you know I've got family problems uh I've got Kim folk that don't like me you know and I observed the win I can't really so because I've got so much by regardeth the clouds I can't reap as thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit and you understand God in all of his splendor and all of his glory and all of his wisdom The Incredible God that we have just glimpsed into in part then we'll see face to face and know all things for we shall be like him and we shall see him as he is but now we see you through a glass Darkly some things we don't understand some things are still a challenge in this frail Humanity you don't know what is the way of the spirit nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child oh we think sonogram and imaging now and oh we've got a corner on it we can guess early now we're smart we don't understand how those little tiny fingers come out so beautiful with that intricate fingerprint that is just for that specific little baby how God does all of these things you can't comprehend that even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all sometimes in our our judgment are in our profile in which we should not do we think well that one really yeah they they want to serve God but no that one doesn't or no that one wants to hear but that one doesn't want to hear we don't understand the works of God who maketh all what are we to do in the morning so thy seed in the evening with old not thy hand that speaks to me on a consistent basis I'm staying at it I'm putting my hand to the plow I'm still at it I'm busy I'm working for the kingdom of God why because I don't know what's going to turn out whether that shall prosper either this or that whether they shall be both shall be alike good I don't know what's going to prosper all I know that I've got to keep on sowing seed I've got to keep on doing what you've commanded me to do Lord I want to buy the field I want to buy it for myself I want to make sure that I want to spend it on you lord I can't spend it for my brother or my sister we can help and bear one another's burdens and pray one for another and love one another but it comes down to a place you've got to do your part yourself and we don't compare one another to each other the Bible says if you do you're unwise be because we are all special in God's eyes and God has given us talents and abilities and gifts that he wants to use for his glory praise God praise God keep on sowing the seed I'll never forget in our home Church a man walked in the door one day and he had one of them Bart Simpson haircuts I thought here we go yeehaw little did I know where he would go had a Bible study with him wasn't long till he had his experience with Pentecost he was baptized in Jesus name after he repented he was filled with the Holy Ghost he began to speak in other tongues as the spirit gave the utterance and he began to work in the church there it wasn't long till he said I want to go to Bible school and he went on down to Bible school and it wasn't long before he started preaching and pastor and all because he had a desire because we passed on the word of God to him we don't own any of this oh let me not hold it let me not hide it under a bushel but let my light be upon a hill let my light so shine before man that they might see your good works and glorify the almighty in heaven praise God Amen to do the work of God let us work while it is still day for when the Night Comes no man shall work that this man is my friend today I'll call him up when I go down to Texas and I will tell him hey I'm coming into town we meet and get together and it's just like old brothers getting together but I'll never forget the day when I saw that Bart Simpson haircut but you know what he don't have that style no more he's glorifying God his father-in-law never met a man like that he couldn't even read the only person I ever recall teaching a home Bible study too and I'm thinking well he's got to really trust me he can't see it for himself and here I was sharing the word of God and I'd mentioned to you last week we cannot yet speak but speak the things which we have heard and seen the things that I talk to you about the things that I share about you it's it's not for my own Glory or because of what I've done it's we have a testimony we have a witness and we can't speak only the things which we've heard and seen oh can you think of all the things that you've heard and all the things that you've seen when people are filled with the Holy Ghost huh when they are endued with power from on high when they begin to speak in other tongues and they begin to tremble and they begin to shake under the power of God and they fall out and people stay for hours and hours and hours after service because they're hungry for God oh God let us get back to that place uh where we hunger and thirst after righteousness and we want to see the glory of God manifest in the church we want to see his presence and His glory praise God brother Wilson he could not read but oh he soaked it all in and he got the Holy Ghost and I'll never forget his favorite word was worth thank you Lord he had a real highest big strong guy but he'd always say thank you Lord amen praise God God can fill anybody with the Holy Ghost that is hungry and truly repent I tell you these examples because it is so important to understand that there is a Ministry for every one of us look at Acts chapter 20. Acts chapter 20 and verse 19 the setting of the scripture here is with Paul and the Bible says here Acts 20 and verse 19. he says serving the lord with humility of mine with many tears and temptations trials Paul had many tears he was tearful he was faithful he was fruitful he was watchful he was sacrificial he was prayerful praise God many tears and tests which befell me by the lion and weight of the Jews he was persecuted by his own amen and it says and how I kept back nothing oh to know when we stand before him on that day and we give an account what we have done in our bodies to know I didn't get back anything I gave it my all uh oh I gave it a hundred percent as much as I could we know when we're holding back huh we know when we're kind of holding back and said well yeah I don't want to give it all but oh he said I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you but have shown you and have taught you publicly from house to house oh they went house to house uh they continued steadfastly in the apostles Doctrine breaking of bread and prayers a house to house testify and vote to the Jews and also to the Greeks uh repentance towards God it goes back to repentance uh there is the message of repentance uh our lives have to be an example of repentance a a constant Turning Away From Evil or a constant uh turning our backs upon sin to turn from the Wicked Ways of this world praise God repentance towards God and Faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ he said and now I go Bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem not knowing the things that shall befall me there I don't know what's going to happen tomorrow but you know what the Holy Ghost sakes save the Holy Ghost uh witnessing in every city the Holy Ghost knows the spirit of God knows God knows your tomorrow what he wants you to do is just keep on witnessing fight the good fight of Faith lay hold on eternal life praise God and here he says the Holy Ghost witness in every city saying the bonds and afflictions abide me he had problems uh he had afflictions uh he he had chains uh he was put in prisoner he was Shipwrecked he was a night and a day in the Deep praise God there were things that he went through and here we are in a modern day today and if a little wind of opposition blows upon us we feel oh it's just too much too much he said these words but none of these things move me it's not going to stop me it doesn't matter what's going on it doesn't matter about health problems huh it doesn't matter about Job problems huh it doesn't matter about money problems huh it doesn't matter about in-law problems it doesn't matter about family problems it doesn't matter about spouse problems it's not going to move me I've got to be steadfast in the faith I've got to be steadfast unmovable always abounding in the work of the Lord for ye know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain I've got to keep at it you've got to keep at it this is a constant thing it's a fight it's a struggle earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the Saints praise God I've got to do it why because I've got to purchase this field for myself I've got to do my part praise God praise God he said neither count I my life dear oh I'm not so fragile I'm not so so delicate that that I'm not afraid to go through a few things he said I don't count my life dear unto myself so that I might finish my course with joy you've got a course you you you've got a pathway the path of the righteousness has a Shining Light it shineth more and more until that perfect day praise God we are on uh the straight and narrow get off that broad path that leads to destruction stay on that straight constricted way that will lead to everlasting life praise God he said that that I want to finish my course with joy thank God for Joy the joy of the Lord is your strength the Unspeakable Joy there is joy in the Harvest There's No Greater Joy than my children will walk in truth that my grandchildren will walk in truth that the the loved ones will walk in truth praise God there is Joy involved in this uh amen thank God for that and the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus to test defy to Bear witness of the Gospel of the grace of God I testify I bear witness praise God to witnesses to Bear testimony to give evidence to provide proof eyewitnesses we are eyewitnesses of God's plan if you've seen someone filled with the Holy Ghost and changed in their life if you've seen them be baptized in Jesus name if you've seen a life that has become fruitful that once walked in darkness now is walking in the light to praise God you are an eyewitnesses of the glory of God you might not see Jesus Christ in all of his glory but you can see the effects of the power of the Holy Ghost praise God it is a great harvest field and we are enlarging it our Lords my vision Lord help me Lord to enlarge my vision of you and your plan have seen it I've heard it and I've experienced it praise God I'll never forget the time there's a friend of mine when we were in England he called me up and he said my sister and her two boys are really going through a hard time do you think that you could let them come up and stay with you all a while while she's trying to work out all this situation and the marital situation my wife and I discussed it we said sure come on complete stranger came into our house British very nice lady and we visited for a few days she stayed there it came Sunday she said well I guess since I have come to be a guest in your house I probably have to come to church with you we said yes that sounds good she came to church and she like I mean she is proper she liked that spotted tea you know the whole thing two fine young boys and um you always have the opportunity to preach Acts 2 38 don't you it should be in every service amen she heard it that day praise God and afterwards we were sitting down at the table when we went back to the house and she said excuse me Robert I've got a few questions I said far away she began to ask and asked I asked I just began to walk through it it's not a hard thing the Simplicity of Christ the death the burial the resurrection repentance water baptism in film of the Holy Ghost praise God a beautiful plan sometimes we want to make it so difficult that it's just like deep water we've got to try to Wade through and she experience that and she listened and after a while she didn't have no more questions then she went back home and about three weeks later she came back because one of the other ministers came and preached and I believe it was her brother he's one of the ministers and um I'll never forget she jumped up right after the service her and her two boys and they marched to that cold water and they were baptized in Jesus name later on they were filled with the Holy Ghost but I said all of that say this in our lives we have opportunity to help people and sometimes it might not just be to how we think it should be but if you'll just show love and compassion amen if you'll spend a little bit on others instead of spending on self we're good at that oh yeah look at our toys oh yeah we all got toys don't we what about spending at home God's creation spending our lives praise God praise God I'd mention to you uh I believe in one of the other classes I was teaching a home Bible study and I say all of that I want to just build faith in you that you can reach people in your own specific talent and way and I was teaching a Bible study to some some guys that were hungry for the word of God and and one of them's he was sitting over at the table and I think we'd gone skiing or something I can't remember where it was I think it would be going on a ski trip or something and there's a bunch of guys there and so we sat down we started going through the scripture and I'd ask this other guy at the table I said hey you want to come join us he said nah it's all right and I get it not everybody's ready or not everybody you know there's a lot there's a lot of fear there's a lot of things that fight people from hearing it and I didn't think much of it and I was teaching and and talking to these other guys and about you know the Simple Plan of Salvation going through the scriptures and it's been about oh let's see 35 years later my brother-in-law says do you remember that Bible study that you taught I said yeah the one I didn't want to come to I said yeah he said I was listening the whole time I said oh Dumbo huh big ears yeah I didn't know that he'd been by brother-in-law for a long time and I didn't know it and finally he said I was listening people are listening and watching you on your job they hear that's why when you mess up or they're quick to let you oh you're a Christian huh well yeah we've all been down that route or just maybe me I don't know okay but I didn't understand here here's this guy listening and he obeyed and he was filled with the Holy Ghost but I remember the time he got the Holy Ghost and he he prayed at the altar for a long time he was baptized in Jesus name but I didn't realize how far it goes generational because his son is a preacher in East Texas working and pastor and assistant pastor in a church and his daughter is also married to a young man in East Texas and they're involved in Ministry both of them all because of just planting a little seed I'm going to buy the field instead of amusement I'm going to push Amusement aside and the opposite of that I'm going to Muse I'm going to contemplate I'm going to study to show myself approved unto God a Workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly divide in the word of Truth praise God First Corinthians chapter 3. and I am coming to a close First Corinthians chapter 3. verse 6 through 9. the Bible says I'm in second Corinthians I have planted Apollos watered but God gave the increase could I present to you that we all have our place you can't have the whole thing without some planting and some water God can give the anchor God could he could just do that and boom The Whole World's safe but he's looking to the church he's looking to you and me so neither so then neither is he that planet anything well I'm a professional planner and look at me well no you're still a lump of dirt or he that watereth oh my lands what a great water man a water boy but God that giveth the increase we can't take and Rob him of any of his glory Thou Art Worthy O Lord to receive Glory power and honor for thou has created all things whom they were created for thy pleasure he created you because he takes pleasure in you amen let's stand now he that planet and he that watereth are one and every man according to his own reward shall receive his own reward according to his own labor for we are laborers together ye are God's husbandry we don't use that word anymore that's tillage cultivation a gardener it's a farm with a great apple orchard do you realize who you are you're the ground that the seed is being planted in and it reproduces after its kind ye are God's Building but we are laborers together with him you might not have great silver or gold or great riches but such as I have just like Peter did I I freely give unto thee freely you have received freely give Lord challenge us today once again buy the field for yourself so we transitioned into the new facility let it be a launching pad for outreach for soul winning amen for continuing in and the the various Ministries uh that are going on in the church the incredible media uh Ministry that is going on the music the singing Everything Has Its part we are God's tillage we are God's husbandry we are God's people let's lift our hands today and love him thank you Jesus as Pastor comes praise God
