Settled

i'm thankful for the presence and the power of the holy ghost i don't know about you but i've been in a few situations where i didn't know what i was going to do how i was going to make it through and when i look back at that scripture in zechariah the bible said if you look at it and study the history of it zerubbabel was trying to rebuild the temple been doing it for years and had no earthly idea how it was going to happen and the lord sent a word to him and said it's not by might nor by power but it's going to be a spiritual inspiration and motivation that comes i don't know what you're going through what you're struggling with today what's been happening in your life the lord sent the praise and worship team to remind us today that his spirit is going it's not going to come it's here today and he wants to inspire you he wants to motivate you he wants to direct you today he wants to feel you he wants to heal you he wants to deliver you man and if you're concerned about waiting until the last days i think we're there let's just go ahead and remove that excuse well i'm gonna wait till about just right before the lord comes and i'm gonna get right well you should be you should get right like right now maybe yesterday would have been more encouraging because we're in the end time and you may be concerned how you're going to survive how you're going to thrive it's by the spirit of almighty god i am honored to be at cornerstone matter of fact i'm as happy as a pig eating bacon to be here and we love your pastor and pastor's wife first lady can you give them a round of applause you are blessed and highly favored of god and they have we haven't spent as much time over the years of course we moved away to tim buck ii up in the northeast for 14 years but they have had a profound impact on our life we just took a quote-unquote working vacation to the dominican republic and then a couple of months four months later we ended up back there as aimers and they are just tremendous people done some tremendous things as missionaries and then i believe it's the will of god for them to be here as your pastor and lead you through things that maybe you didn't expect you were going to have to go through as a church and it's good to have people of faith and people that you can rely on amen and i really wish pastor would work on his sense of humor he's struggling a bit with that so if he could work through that he'd almost be perfect right almost be perfect and this guy over here on the back he he looks like bruce pearl i'm an auburn fan i'm sorry i keep looking over here and think coach pearl is looking at me and i'm about to about to play basketball it's you sir the one that just looked back you look like bruce pratt i'm like i i pray that you get what you need in the holy ghost today and in this church but don't take off your shirt like bro bruce pearl does in the middle of things but it's just a little unsettling i was like whoa i didn't know the coach of auburn basketball came to chattanooga on a regular basis but i am honored to be here glad my traveling companion is here addison's with me i'm so sorry that my wife is not here she's in murfreesboro today so but we we appreciate the opportunity to be here turn with me to psalm 119 89 and 90. psalm 119 89 and 90. there say amen we have enough screens around here everybody should be able to say amen what a wonderful facility you guys have and thankful for what the lord is doing reading the new king james if that's all right the bible simply says forever o lord i might say forever so when you told your wife your spouse you loved them forever and ever and ever that's what it means just forever it says forever o lord your word is settled in heaven your faithfulness not my faithfulness not others faithfulness but your faithfulness speaking of the lord's endures to all generations you establish the earth concerned about what's going on everything that can be shaken seems to be shaking but he said you establish the earth and it abides because it's in the hands of the lord and i want to preach on just a one word title today that is settled settled look at your neighbor and say settled would you pray with me don't pray as much for you as me that i'll be led of the holy ghost and god would give us power and a demonstration of his spirit would you pray with me thank you heavenly father for this day for this opportunity lord god i pray right now and we drive back every distraction in the name of jesus god we rebuke any evil spirit that would attempt to come in and hinder today god we pray for freedom and liberty in the holy ghost i pray that miracle signs and wonders would transpire i pray lord that all that need to be filled with the holy ghost will be filled delivered strengthened anoint us today lord i i know your word is anointed lord anoint me to be sensitive be led of the holy ghost to walk in your spirit in jesus precious name i pray everybody said amen god bless you you may be seated in jesus name if you're not going to have a good attitude you must stand back up unsettled you have children you've probably made the statement settle down probably you've said it again and again and again or you could be married to an individual that needs to bring it down a notch or two sometimes you have to look at them and say would you just settle down we're thinking of things that are unsettled i think it would be we would be remiss if we didn't bring up the stomach can the church said amen usually after an ill-advised spicy concoction or if you're like me the inability to stop at the word full after the snow of yesterday it seems like the weather patterns are a bit unsettled and let's not even talk about gas prices it's like watching my weight around the holiday season it just goes up and down up and down back and forth no idea when you get up what it's going to be and in our current reality we have just plowed through a global pandemic for two years and we're finally it seems putting that behind us and suddenly the events on the world stage are extremely unsettling there's war in ukraine there's refugees we're wondering is putin pre posturing for more will this be world war three uh inflation's already been rising for a year and it is affecting i would say all of us and when we run out of words to say if you're like me you just look back and go wow things are unsettled and and we have no earthly idea what could could be transpiring so i want to preach today about the fact that the world is unsettled can you say amen people are unsettled can you say amen but i do want to inform you that god is not unsettled i'm going to say it again the world may be unsettled people even people under the sound of my voice may be unsettled but god is not unsettled he he's not overwhelmed he's not concerned today matter of fact i'm reminded of mark chapter 4 verse 35 the bible said on that same day when when it was evening time that he he looked at them and he said let us pass over unto the other side now look at your neighbor and say jesus told him to go and when they he had sent the multitude away they got him in the ship and they're going uh with some other little ships and there arose a great storm of wind you with me god told him to get in the boat and go and he knew there was a storm coming so you think he's going to be out there commanding the storm but the bible said the waves beat into the ship and it was now full and when we go looking for jesus he was in the hinder part of the ship he was in the back of the ship asleep on a pillow and they had to awaken him and say do you not care if we perish anybody been there in the midst of a storm things are unsettled you're you're concerned and you're wondering where in the world is god well i'll tell you this he's not worried as a matter of fact he's so unconcerned he's just going to go to sleep because he knows that everything's going to work out according to his plan and his purpose if we'll just wake him up the problem is not with me the or with him the problem is with me i've got to be in a situation where i go to god and say god i know you're in control but things in my life are a little unsettled things in my mind are a little unsettled can you just wake up and when you get to him he will awaken he will step in and he will speak peace be still because god is not unsettled he is a settled god someone hear me today god is not unavailable and unaware he is not inaccessible and indisposed god is not powerless or promiseless and i i want you to hear this final when god is not finished everything else may be shaken in the world or in your world but i've come today with a mandate from the master to preach that there is a god who is unshakable his word states it we read it in our scripture text it is settled and so i'm just going to believe it i'm going to receive it and i'm going to walk in a faith in a confidence that he is in control if it's in his word i'm going to believe it i may have some concern about what the news says i may be having some concern about what everybody else is saying but i have no care or concern or worry about what's in the word because forever the bible says it is settled in heaven in our text the bible tells us that his word was very simply is forever settled in heaven when i looked at that word settled one commentary says that it means to properly uh properly to station to set to put to put in place refer to it like a column or a monument so it stands there it is set up adam clark said this about it he said thy purposes are all settled above and they shall all be fulfilled below and i want you to understand that his word is inseparable from who he is inseparable as a matter of fact god is his word and the word is god john 1 1 says in the beginning was the word in the very beginning was the word the word was with god and the word was god god known as jehovah of the old testament then you say well what happened after the old testament well it didn't stop there the the chain continues because 1 in 14 says the word became flesh and dwelt among us jesus who was jehovah yeshua the lord has become our salvation the word that was from the beginning became flesh and continued in the new testament and and the bible says in first timothy god was manifest in the flesh the word was manifest in the flesh revelation 19 13 said he is clothed in a robe dipped in blood and the name by which he is called not jesus now he was talking about jesus but he is called the word of god and then hebrews the writer says in 13-8 that jesus christ is the same yesterday today and forever all of that is not confusing there's one god his name is jesus that jesus is the word they're inseparable and if jesus christ is the same yesterday today and forever that means his word is the same yesterday today and forever we can believe and understand god has not left us with no confidence he has not left us alone but he is with us his word is with us it is alive it is well it is moving it is breathing it is working in our midst it is settled and so if jesus doesn't change nor does the written holy inspired infallible word of god change then i need to believe it it is settled it is timeless truth so when the bible says in malachi 3 verse 6 he said i am the lord and i change not they were concerned about whether something that he was doing was was adverse or different than he was but he said i am the lord and i change not and when he says that to me it's settled look at look at your neighbor and say he doesn't change my life may change my situation may change my season may change but god and the thing is when you look at god one commentator says and actually he said when they they asked him in one place who should we say he said well say i am sent me god which means he who is you know he doesn't need to put anything else there he he just is you're concerned about where you're at well he's there he he is jehovah shamal means he is there he's with you right here you're concerned about what's going to happen tomorrow he's already there you're worried about the past well he's behind you he's beside you he is always there so everything he has ever done does not change so that means he is available to me today in every aspect in every characteristic in every attribute that is spoken about in his word that is available to us as people that believe the word of god the only thing that you have to do to to allow god to work is simply activated by having your faith he said well i don't know if i have enough faith faith is a grain of mustard seed and what happens you can speak to this mountain it's going to be removed that's a pretty unbelievable miracle if you ask me but i've got to believe and let it be settled that he is who he says he is that he can do what he says he's going to do job in 42 and 2 after everything job had been through you know sometimes we just need to pick up the scripture and when we're going through things and life is difficult and you know all hell's breaking loose man nobody's ever been through this and i've ever struggled like this and just look at job and sometimes i say okay god i'm sorry forgive me but after all that he had experienced all the pain all the loss all of the supposed friendships that were there to comfort him he he looked at god and he made the statement he said i know that you can do everything and what a statement of faith so you know i just i don't know what to say just look at him say god i know you are who you say you are i know you can do everything i know he goes on to say that no purpose of yours can be withheld from you god's word translation and i don't normally get too carried away with some of these translations they're not necessarily as much translations as they are statements from the author but this one says i know that you can do everything and that your plans are unstoppable i know you can do everything and your plans are unstoppable maybe you've walked in here today you're a little concerned or maybe a situation in your life is bigger to you than what's going on on the world stage and you're just wondering uh is it possible that maybe i and and sometimes we do we we have we make mistakes and we walk outside the will of god and there are consequences to that but that doesn't mean that god just thumps us on the head and says you go away i'm not going to come but his word states that he he is a god that loves he's a god that forgives he's a god of grace and mercy so i want you to know that god can still do everything it doesn't matter what you've done where you've gone how how far and what your situation is he can do everything and his plans are unstoppable so it is settled by reading that scripture god is an expert at everything i'm not going to ask you to raise your hand if you've ever met an individual that thinks they're an expert at everything don't look at anybody everybody just look at me face forward maybe you need to close your eyes usually those that are experts at everything they don't have to tell you they just exhibit it can the church say man if you have to tell me how good you are at everything then i'm going to start doubting immediately because you're obviously not good at humility so we've already got one fault and one strike against you but god is an expert at everything you say preacher you don't know what i've done or how far i am from him today i want you to understand he's an expert redeemer and savior you say well you don't know the physical condition of my body i need healing today he's still an expert healer he's still the great physician you say well i you don't know the situation i'm in there's nobody that can help me he is still an ever-present help in the time of need you say wow you don't know how weak i am preacher i i need strength i don't know that he can do it i i'm here to tell you he's stronger than you can ever imagine you say well i i've got anxiety i've got fear there's there's no way that he can bring me peace he's still the peace speaker maybe you're dealing with fear in your life today well there's there's no way that that i can overcome this god still can give you power love and a sound mind you're anxious today of wondering i want you to understand he still knows the end from the beginning he puts kings in place and he removes them somebody hear me today he is still in control and we are in his hands you say my life is in pieces in shambles it's all blown up i want you to listen to his settled word isaiah 44 24 thus saith the lord thy redeemer he that formed thee from the womb he's known you from the beginning but then he said i want to remind you i am the lord that maketh all things and i stretch forth the heavens alone and i spreadeth abroad the earth by myself i i don't know if he can fix my situation well if he can spread the heavens along he he didn't have to ask for help he didn't get in the middle of the project and say hey is there any angel up is there somebody up there can help me no he said i spread it all by myself i did all of this by myself i can put your broken and battered life back together i can put the pieces of your heart the bible said i he jesus has come to bind up the brokenhearted again he can do it jeremiah 32 and 17 jeremiah said oh lord god behold you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and your outstretched arm there is nothing oh somebody needs to say that out loud not one thing nothing there's nothing he can't do he preceded that by telling us this is my skill set this is my ability you say well i don't know if you can do that well go back to the previous statement he said i made the heavens and the earth alone i spoke it into existence he wants somebody to hear today there is nothing too hard for god quit trying to do it yourself quit trying to make your way out of it on your own god wants to step in today it is settled in his word there is nothing too hard for him to do someone hear me the great creator of the heavens and earth is not finished creating and recreating in your life and in this church i know you've been through some things individually i know you've been through some things as the church but i believe god is still creating he's still recreating he's still moving if he spoke the world into existence he can speak life and breath into your dead or dying situation you've come too late to tell me he can't revive and renew if he can raise the dead in the new testament he can raise them in 2022. anything he did in the scripture he can still do because there's nothing too hard for him let him create let him recreate let him renew restore and revive you today it is settled if you needed another example ezekiel 37 verse 5 thus said the lord god under these bones behold i will cause breath to enter into you and you shall live and he could have just blown into him and took care of it but sometimes he wants us to be a part of the solution he wants to see where your faith is and you go up before that and you know i i love that ezekiel is a little coy and he said you know can these bones live so i'm not i'm not going to get an argument with god well you know god you know that must have been enough faith you know god because he said will you prophesy not pastor prophesy not the evangelist prophesy but he said in your situation are you willing to get up and prophesy unto the wind he said prophesy son of man and say to the wind thus saith the lord god come from the four winds o breath and breathe upon these slain that they may live so what did he do in verse 10 he put faith with what the lord had said and he said i prophesied as he had commanded me and the bible said breath came into them and they lived and they stood up on their feet and there was an exceeding great army breathe on me thank you praise team for being sensitive to the holy ghost i feel that the lord is you know can i just talk about me i won't talk about you i don't really know you that well but i used my mouth and my breath so many times to say so much negativity so many things that you know complaining and frustration and you know i'm not one of these blabbit and grabbit persons and you'll just believe it it's going to come but i also believe that god has given us a a mouth to use it for the positive he said blessing and cursing should not come from the same mouth he's given us a mouth and i believe we should use it for good that's why when i love it when we pray that when we begin to pray i can say some things but when i began pastor to pray the word something wonderful happens because it i'm using my mouth to proclaim the promised settled word of god and can i just motivate and inspire somebody to yeah and i know you're going through some things and i know it's easier to get up and talk about how your body hurts and how that person hurts you and and how the the world is and my god how have you seen the gas prices lately and uh and all we can do what if we got into the place that we just get up every morning and we just began to prophesy the word of the lord these are your promises i know we got a list of complaints but what if we had a list of of positive promises of the settled word of god that says i'm going to get up and i i may not have enough faith to do much but even just lay here in the scripture but god you said your word is settled this is not even in my notes and i'm just going to sit here and before i even get up i'm going to say god i am blessed and highly favored of god my family is going to be saved today i'm going to be healed today i'm going to be delivered today i'm going to be used of god today my mind is going to be settled today fear is going to go on be gone today the people i didn't get along with at work i'm going to get along with them i'm going to forgive today i'm going to believe the settled word of god i'm going to do what god has commanded me to do and will i prophesy breath is going to come into some things that were dead previously and if you need another application i believe as a matter of fact he wants to breathe the breath of life into your your situation today he wants his holy spirit to begin to move today god breathed the breath of life into adam and i believe he wants to breathe again here today and give you your personal pentecost if you've never been born again today of the water and of the spirit you can be born again of the water and the spirit he said well you don't know about what i've done the bible says if any man be in christ he is a new creature all things are passed away behold all things are become new i can repent of my sins i can ask for forgiveness i can do a 180 and begin to walk away and god says because of your willingness i will fill you i'll take the old and i'll i'll put that under the blood of jesus christ we're baptized in the name of jesus christ for the remission it is erased it is taken away and behold all things are new god is still a saving god if this is your first time or you've been here 500 times and you you just don't believe you've got some things in your heart hidden away that you don't believe god can forgive you if you give them to god today he will breathe a fresh breath of the holy ghost into you the promise of salvation the bible said is to all that are afar off even as many as the lord our god shall call you can be filled for the first time or the 500th time if you're struggling today as a matter of fact i would encourage you god breathe on me i'm pouring all of this other junk out and i'm asking you to pour your holy spirit in me you see the greatest miracle that god can do is not opening blind eyes or raising the dead my opinion the the greatest miracle that he can do is the miracle of salvation of saving your soul but he also did a multiplicity of miracles throughout the scripture and i've said it before and i've probably said it a hundred times over the last couple of years especially through this stinking pandemic but if god did it in the scripture he can do it here thank you all four of you if he did it in the scripture he can do it here if he failed 120 let me just start with the holy ghost if he filled 120 in one day and then added another three thousand he could do in chattanooga i believe it if he can start that by turning the world upside down he can do it here if if he raised the dead in the scripture he can raise the dead here if he open blinded eyes in the scripture he can do it here my point is if he did it in the scripture he can do it here as a matter of fact if you've ever heard a testimony of a miracle if he did it anywhere else in the world he can do it here what i'm trying to tell you is is this this is not just something foreign in the sky that can happen for other people the word of god is settled and is applicable for each and every one of you every individual soul you say well he can't do it for me i'm here to refute that and to just to tell you by faith in the holy ghost he can do it for you he can deliver you he can heal you he can strengthen you he can provide your financial need he can bring your backslidden children home he can put your family back together if he did it anywhere he can do it at cornerstone apostolic in chattanooga this morning he can do it here yes i believe it because it's settled it is in the scripture you find the craziest miracle craziest miracle in the scripture you say there's no way that can happen no it can happen it wasn't just for flannel graphs and sunday school it was to inspire faith to believe you said well you know there's no way that and we say that the son said stood still really we understand that what he was saying was that the earth stood still there's no way that can happen no if god wants it to happen he can do it again you know he he talks through a donkey every sunday morning that i preach he can do it again don't look at anybody here either y'all just keep looking at me and saying amen i know some of y'all's y'all's cutting your eyes well he can do it for you he can do it i said he can do it matter of fact john 14 and 12 says verily verily i say unto you he that believeth on me you say i want to be used in miracles and gifts and signs and wonders well if there's anybody that i would like to attain and like to live up to jesus would be he'd be the one right i don't want to be benny hen i don't want to be whoever that bozo is in texas copeland i mean i love pastor raymond sloan but i don't even want to be rhema alone i won't be like jesus but that's the gold standard that is it but he said if you believe on me the works that i do you shall do also so you say well what do i need to do well just get out your little google machine or your go if you're concerned about your privacy and just begin to put in the miracles that jesus did while on earth and that would be a pretty unbelievable scenario to say i've got to believe and i can do those things but he didn't just stop there because he said greater works than these shall he do i want you to understand let's not settle for anything less than what he has settled for if his word says it i don't care what anybody else says i don't care what the other churches are preaching i don't care what the political commentators are saying i'm going to settle for what the word of god says and it says if i believe i can see what he did done in my life and if i believe i can see greater things somebody hear me the greatest day for the church is now if the world is shaken we need a settled church settled in the word of god settled in our faith settled in our belief that god can do what he said he's going to do and i i didn't put this in my notes and i'm thankful because i'm running out of time but how many you you have a vivid imagination so it's not a trick question where are you creative types in here you can man when i was a kid you know have this unbelievable imagination as we get older it's like that's become squelched you know with life and responsibility and paying the bills but by the bible says god is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that i can ask or even think again and you don't know my testimony maybe one time pastor invites me back i'll share but some of us are controlled by our minds and it's not a good thing and our thoughts can control us and fear and anxiety and we can't stop the thoughts and we're over thinkers and we dwell in what if and and we would the devil the devil doesn't necessarily give me those thoughts i don't even need uh bad thoughts if i could say it that way i don't need evil thoughts sometimes it's just about you you hear that little noise in your car and the next thing you know you have diagnosed it as the fact that your engine and your transmission are going to go out and god forbid if i can just get to the next mechanic and all it is it's just a little bracket rattling around in there but you have you've the the car is gone i've got to buy a new one i can't afford anything prices are high if you tried to buy a used car i'm just telling you it's not even an evil thought but it begins to roll and before we know it we're we're anxious can i tell somebody first and foremost god wants to deliver you from that he didn't give you a spirit of fear he didn't give me a spirit of fear he didn't give me anxiety those thoughts can come but i need to take him captive but number two if i have a mind that can be used for that i can also use it for good and i can start dwelling on the fact that he said if i he can do exceeding abundantly above all i ask or think i'm gonna begin to produce some positive results no he can't just uh touch somebody but he can fill them with the holy ghost he can bring my whole family back together he can give you a new building for cornerstone apostolic church i'm talking about god is able through our mind to do exceeding abundantly above all we've asked or even thoughts so as we conclude the question becomes or let me put it this way as a statement where we look to is what will settle us if we look to the media if we look to our friends if we look to popular opinion if we look to church culture if we look to this or to that that's what's going to settle us so then the question becomes where and what are you going to look at what are you going to focus upon the bible says we should be looking unto jesus he's the author and the finisher he started it and if it's going to finish in you it's because we're looking unto him one of my favorite songs here recently is evan craft's song it's not because he's got a great last name maybe croft i don't know it's close enough to craft fix my eyes on jesus how many of you in our pastor can close his eyes not look around because well some of y'all gonna tell the truth some of y'all gonna lie i'm just gonna check facebook and two and a half hours later you're still checking facebook i just i'm just gonna make one post on instagram i'm just i'm just gonna check the news before we know it wide-eyed worried concerned did you see what they did did you see what they said i can't believe they posted that or sometimes it's even gentle ma'am i can't believe god's working in their church he's not working in our church what am i going to fix my eyes on now i'm preaching to me right now my wife is here she'd be banging over there preach preacher i'm just going to tell you i'm be transparent man i get on those reels and it's like i said i'm two hours later i'm over laughing hilariously the idiotic things number one that people film themselves doing matter of fact the other day she said are you listening to me are you watching reels on instagram i said well it depends which is more interesting at this point in time sorry baby i know you're watching i apologize that's why she needs to travel with me my filter is not here back to reality where are we looking what are we focused on what are we believing because i want to take you back to that settled word just very quickly there are numerous names of jehovah and when i say names technically their characteristics their attributes the bible calls him jehovah hosunu you know what that means it means jehovah is not just a maker i've learned this over the last two years but he is jehovah my maker he is jehovah roja that means he is jehovah not just a shepherd but he's he's my shepherd brother and that's one translation that he says he's my shepherd and i have all that i need i can focus on all of the things oh well i need to get a better job and i'm not saying you don't need a better job or if i can work a second job but if you're being faithful and it may just be a season and so many times we if you're like me you try to figure out well how can i get another income stream what can i do sometimes it's just a place of saying jesus you're my shepherd i'm gonna look to you he's jehovah jireh and that simply means his provisions shall be seen oh is there anybody identifying with me i don't see him yet but that doesn't change that it's settled in his scripture that he is still jehovah my provider he's jehovah shalom yes he is peace but i need somebody to understand you need to personalize it today you need to start saying it over and over again jehovah is my peace i'm not feeling real peaceful right now but i'm gonna keep saying it because he is my peace he is jehovah rapha he is jehovah my healer he is jehovah to sid canoe he is my righteousness he is jehovah shamaw he is jehovah that is there he is jehovah neesee our banner he is jehovah who sanctifies he is jehovah to soboth our lord of hosts he is jehovah hellion the lord most i've looked to the doctor and he hasn't settled it i've looked to the lawyer he hasn't settled it i've i've looked to the politician and he hasn't settled it i've looked to my boss and he hasn't settled it so i'm going to go back to that settled word of god i'm going to find my peace my rest my hope and my help today would you stand with me across the building i feel a sweet sweet presence of the lord in the house today he's swept in here right now he is yours today i want to conclude with this illustration i was a youth pastor about 150 years ago and we played this game i don't even know what it's called but we were teaching about gossip and we would line you know 15 or 20 of them up and you'd have a phrase you know it may be that god is great and you'd whisper it in the first one's ear and ten minutes later telephone is that what it's called and by the time it got to the end brother piano player god wasn't in it great wasn't in it i mean it was as far removed from the original message than it could ever be and there are so many forces against the settled word and the settled god of the word that if we're not careful we can begin to believe other voices other things more than we believe this settled word of god but i believe that the lord sent me to chattanooga today to remind you that his word is still settled i'm not trying to hurt anybody else's feeling but i don't care what they say well they gave me a word from god well if it's different than this subtle word from god it's not a word from god it's just a word from them it's just a suggestion in your life i need the settled word in my life i i don't know what's going to happen tomorrow i don't know where a great gas price i don't know if he's going to push the nuclear
