I Was In The Spirit

God oh bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me bless His holy name bless His holy name bless His holy name from the rising of the Sun to the going down of the Saint the name of the Lord is to be praised for the name of the Lord yeah is a strong tower the name of the Lord is a strong tower and the righteous run into it and are safe how many feel safe this morning amen isn't this a great day to praise the Lord how many feel good in Alexandria let's give the Lord a praise and clap offering right now thank you Jesus oh praise God God bless you you may be seated certainly is a pleasure to be here to Worship the Lord and hear some awesome stuff how many heard some awesome stuff I'm awesomized I am aized my Lord somebody said to me last night well after all that's been preached what are you going to say that really lifted me up I want you to know that just made me feel so good especially when I had the answer I don't know well I'm going to give it a whack though how many help me this morning praise God now I don't want you to be offended by what I'm about to say but I am not a country boy I don't know how to preach about mules and cotton patches I me I like it I just don't know how to do it cornbread and beans and I don't know how to do that amen so just don't hold that against me all right praise God let's go to the word of the Lord shall we thank you for inviting me to speak I thought it was perhaps a a dream I was having when my wife told me that brother Mangan had called my house can't be real but I'm here so it must be real Revelation chapter one please I want to thank my friends who have prayed for me and told me so that's right there's more of you here I don't know than I do know it's nice to know you thank you Revelation 1 starting at verse 8 Revelation 1 and8 I am Alpha and Omega the beginning and the ending saith the Lord which is and which was and which is to come the almighty how me's glad you know who the almighty is I John who also am your brother and companion everybody say companion compion in Tribulation and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ was in the aisle that is called patmas for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ I was in the spirit everybody say I was in the spirit I was in the spirit on the Lord's day and heard behind me a great voice as of

a trumpet saying I am Alpha and Omega the first and the last and what thou seest write in a book and send it under the seven churches which are in Asia under Ephesus under Smyrna under pergamus under thy Tyra under Sardis under Philadelphia and under leod DEA and I turned everybody say I turned to see the voice that spake with me and being turned I saw seven golden candlesticks and in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the son of man clothed with a garment down to the foot and G about the pths with a golden girdle his head and his hairs were white like wool as white as snow and his eyes were as a flame of fire and his feet like under fine brass as if they burn in a furnace and his voice as a sound of many Waters and he had in his right hand Seven Stars and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength and when I saw him I fell at his feet as dead and he laid his right hand upon me saying unto me fear not I am the first and the last I'm he that liveth and was dead and behold I am alive forever more amen and have the keys of hell and of death I'd like to read verse n again maybe you could read it out loud with me I John who also am your brother and companion in Tribulation and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ was in the aisle that is called patmas for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ and the next five words is what I would just like to focus on I was in the spirit I was in the spirit how many feel like you've been in the spirit around here the last couple of days let's pray together shall we Lord in heaven we desire visit ation of the Holy One of Israel we feel your presence and your anointing and I thank you for it I want to be in your flow minister to every preacher every preacher's wife every saint of God baptize us Lord with the baptism of earnestness let the Apothecary anoint us with a fresh oil anointing today let the Apothecary come come Lord and anoint us praise God oh praise God praise God praise God and everyone said praise the Lord praise the Lord you may be seated God bless you I want to speak about John just for a little bit John to me is one of the the elite of the Elites in the gospels we find that John was a part of what I referred to as the dynamic Trio whenever anything special was going on it seemed like out of the 12 Jesus Drew three out of the 12 Jesus Drew three this Trio of special Apostles that seem to have special favor with the Lord when it was time to go up on the Mount of transfiguration he didn't ask all of the disciples to go he didn't call all the 12 to follow him but he called Peter James and John and it was those three that Dynamic Trio that went with him up that mount and saw the Glorious revelation of his deity and it was Peter that said Lord it is good for us thank you it is good for us to be here and somehow Peter wanted to lock that moment in some kind of permanence when he said let's build three Tabernacles

let's somehow hold this down so we can keep it for a while let's build three Tabernacles one for you one for Moses and one for Elijah let's let's hold this for a while the Bible says didn't even know what he was talking about amen i' like to build a tabernacle around what I've been feeling the last couple days and hold on to it for a while I don't want it to get away from me amen how many want to hold on to what you've been feeling around here I want to take it home with me praise God and he said it's good for us to be here you ever wonder why some people don't come to things like this maybe they wouldn't feel like it would be good to be here they had to walk a whole day to get up there they had to pay a price to get up there and when they got there they appreciated what they had and said it's good for us to be here brother Mangan I want you to know it's good to be here praise the lord it's worth every mile it's worth every dollar it's worth every sacrifice amen it is good for us to be here I'm seeing something I like to see and I'm feeling something I like to feel and i' like to build a tabernacle around it of praise and worship and hold on to it for a while praise God praise God it's time to heal Jar's daughter he didn't take Matthew in there Bart and some of the others they didn't go in there it was this three this Dynamic Trio Peter James and John something special was about to happen this little girl was about to wake up something awesome was about to happen he didn't want anybody in there that wasn't going to appreciate it he didn't want anybody in there that was looking around not knowing what was happening he wanted somebody in there that was in tune with him he wanted somebody that would appreciate it when it happened and he wanted somebody that would praise him after it was all over with he didn't want the Casual observer in there amen he wanted somebody that could appreciate it when God does something special I want to be right in the middle of it how about you if I got to walk up a mountain I'll walk up the mountain if I got to accept ridicule I'll accept ridicule but I want to be there when it happen anybody want to be there when it happen oh God if it's three or 5 or 1 or 12 I want to be in that number and they saw her come up then when it was time for special prayer he didn't call all the 12 to come aside and pray with him in that Garden of Gethsemane and the three that he called didn't hardly do too much much but he did call them they did have a shot there's times I had a shot I didn't do so good hope this isn't one of them believe me oh god well they had a shot Peter James and John the dynamic Trio and it seems to me on close inspection and I know that God is not a respector persons and he loves everybody the same I don't think he trusts everybody the same though I don't think he has the same confidence in everybody praise God hallelujah I do believe he loves everybody the same but I don't know I'm not sure he has the confidence and the Trust In everybody the same and it seems to me that John even had a special place with Jesus Beyond Peter and James seems like John even had a an edge on the one that walked on water with Jesus if you look closely you'll find at the Last Supper while everybody was chattering while everybody was having a fellowship meeting John somehow he must have got to church early that night he got him a seat as close as he could get that's right and he wasn't sitting around just talking about the latest situation uhuh he had his head in a certain place yeah where nobody else had their head that's right he might have looked kind of funny but he

didn't care about how he looked that's right he might have been subject to a little ridicule but he didn't care about how anybody felt about it that's right there was somebody sitting at that table with him and he wanted to be as close to him as he could get that's right he didn't care what the ridiculer had to say about it he didn't care what the hypocrite had to say he wanted his heart he wanted his heart he wanted his head as close to the heart of God as he can get that's why it's good for us to be here because we're getting our head up to the heart of God and I feel something I feel something there's something pounding there's something moving and it's good for us to be here I feel something thring I feel something moving I don't want to be at the end of the table I want to be right up where he is hey there may be people ridiculing and there may be people mocking but there at the wrong end of the table I feel something woo it's good it's good it's good it's good for us to be here I want that heartbeat I want that heartbeat I don't feel good when I can't feel the heartbeat I don't feel cure when I can't feel the heartbeat I don't feel satisfied when I can't feel the heartbeat I can't stand it when I feel dry I can't stand it when church services are dead I can't stand it when I can't feel the move and the heartbeat of God get out of my way I got to get my head back at the brast make fun of me if you want to but I got to feel it I can walk without it but I sure do like it when I feel it oh God that's what we're doing here we're clamoring from the ends of the table and getting down to where he is and getting our head on his breast we're clamoring getting junk out of the way getting stuff out of the vessel amen we're getting junked out of the vessel and getting to where his heart is oh clean me out God I want to hear it I want to feel it hallelujah or everybody else is playing games I want to get my head right I want to get my head right oh hey devil as long as I can hear the heartbeat you ain't going to win buddy you ain't going to get me as long as I can feel it and hear it and be in touch with it Greater is he that's within me than he that's within the world praise God praise God thank you Jesus praise God even even Peter seemed to recognize that John had an edge had a line of communication even Peter with all his bravado and exploits recognize that John had a pipeline that he didn't have for when Jesus said there's somebody sitting here probably down at the end of the table way down there making fun of John there's somebody here

that's going to betray me well everybody want to know who it was you know when we hear a little something we always want to know who who is it who who's it going to be man and there was concern and Peter wanted to know I want to know who it is but he didn't say hey Jesus who is it he said hey John you that's got your head in the right place see when the chips are down they know who to go to they may make fun of your spirituality but but when they're in trouble they going to be calling your number they make fun of your shout but when they got cancer buddy they're going to want you to bring your shout over to their house hey John John John buddy John hey baby cakes ask Jesus he could have asked him they weren't 100 miles apart he wasn't that far away John would you ask the Lord who it is just write it on a piece of paper and slip it down to me I won't tell anybody liar liar pants on fire man as soon as somebody tells me that youd better not tell them man they'll find the first person they can find and so John asked who is it Lord and Jesus told him man the one who gets a soop with me he's one John you want to know John you want to know something I tell you anything you know the Bible says the secret of the Lord is revealed to them that fear Him you got your head in the right place and God will tell you anything you need to know and if there's something you don't know that you need to know get your head in the right spot and God will tell you just get a good pray and fr going in your life and God will tell you everything you need to know and if you don't know it you don't need to know it and just walk by faith and so Jesus told him thank you don't stop now so Jesus told him and now at the cross woman Behold thy son Behold thy mother and it was in the care of John don't tell me John didn't have something with Jesus that was a little bit above he entrusted the care of his mother to him one of the last things that he did was took care of Mom John you're now her son Mom this is your boy here you take care of her just as if it was me taking care of her so John was this leader of the pack this he he he is a humble man he he didn't say it was John that had his head at the breast he just said the disciple Jesus loved and never referred to himself it was never seeking vain Glory he he learned something when his mom asked if he could sit on one side and James could sit on the other and Jesus embarrassed him in front of everybody he he cool it after that after was the guy was a son of Thunder

you know and he cooled it after him and his brother said hey hey hey bro let's ask Jesus to burn this town down here let's just burn it down Lord everybody in it he got embarrassed when Jesus said you don't even know what kind of spirit you got he cool it after that he cool it but I kind of think Jesus kind of liked it I think he kind of looked at some some of the other guys and winked he didn't have the right Spirit but at least he wanted some action hey I like action how many like action I hate dead church I want some action I want the fire to fall I don't want it to destroy anybody I wanted to help somebody woo he wanted some action and he also wanted to get ahead sit down to the right hand to the left that's not best want to get up there you know son of thunder and this man at the writing of our text was approximately 93 years old the writing of the Book of Revelation in the year 95 ad when he was approximately 92 or 93 years old the emperor demission had him arrested at Ephesus I believe it was and had him taken to Rome here is a man that had walked with Jesus In the Flesh for three years walked with him in the spirit for some 60 years a bishop faithful mighty he's 92 93 years old maybe couple ACH and Bones grayhair been used of God Faithful of God the special disciple the special Apostle demission in 95 ad has him arrested and taken to Rome and there the execution sentence was pronounced and history teaches us that he was thrown into that pot of boiling oil to be killed but somehow or another the hand of God was on him and the boiling oil didn't kill him can you say praise the Lord prise the Lord you see when the devil tries to kill you it doesn't matter what he tries if God isn't through with you yet you're not going to die the devil's told a lot of us it's over when it ain't over he's told a lot of us you're through when you're not through he's told a lot of us you're in a fix and you're not getting out but somehow we're still alive and kicking and so the oil didn't kill him and so demission had a decree written that he would be exiled banished for the rest of his life to this penal colony on patmas B patmas was not your typical cariban Paradise being banished to patmas was not like being banished to Jamaica Aruba Kel Hawaii was not the same thing there was nobody greeting him there and putting a flower necklace around his neck patmas is a small island off the coast of turkey it's 10 miles long it's approximately 6 miles wide it's almost Solid Rock just a rocky place it's also treeless there are no trees there it's a hard place it was a penal colony I've heard it said that he was there alone I tend to feel like that he was not there by himself probably would have been better if he had been but it was a penal colony a place where criminals were banished the offscouring the garbage the worst of the worst was sent to patmas it was a Biblical days Devil's Island they were sent there to suffer to eek out what meager living they could get and you were there for the rest of your life when you went to patmas it was a life sentence 92 93 years old hurting aged and he was banished to patmas thieves murderers rapists people that don't pay their ties people like that the lowest the worst and so here he

is on patmas when he should have been in Jamaica when he should have been in comfortable retirement when he should have been Pastor ameritus somewhere with a nice office somebody else doing all the Dirty Work counseling and stuff someone else having to listen to all the problems and he just gets to walk out on the platform on Sunday nights Praise Him Saints glory to God Little Children love one another I'll see you baby cool you know he paid the price he paid the price right it's time to be cool right right you deserve it right ties we collect the ti right collect the ties that's right amen that's a nice one show you mine after church praise God should have be able to just sit back and be cool stand up every once a while and go that's right that's all you ought to have to do after all that that's all you ought to have to do just get up every once in a while I've been practicing just just talked about this group of people right here amen just cool your jets chill out take a chill pill relax he deserved it John deserved it that's not where he was he wasn't there there was nobody to do this to just a bunch of bums creeps slabs bunch of nerds did you ever feel like you were surrounded slobs creeps nerds wasn't one good one in a bunch so here he is hard place hot place no place to get under the shade 95 years old 93 whatever it was hurting didn't deserve that life wasn't fair vicissitudes the ups and downs of life he was in a down here he is that sure have been easy to say I don't deserve this hey Lord hey Lord I don't deserve this I'm the one that took care of my mom I'm the one that had my head at your breast remember I'm the only one that didn't split I'm the one that saw jarus his daughter I'm the one that for these 60 some years I've been expecting a nice chair I've been expecting a nice comfortable retirement and this is what I get how easy it would have been to sort of develop just the tiniest

little chip on the shoulder how easy it would have been to feel like God just wasn't really being fair with him how easy it would have been I'm going to die here I'm not dying surrounded by saints that love me I'm not going to die in a nice beautiful sanctuary I'm going to die in this rocky place all by myself I don't deserve this all right I've been faithful I've prayed I've preached I've done the best I could do and now look at my circumstances I've done good I've always tried to do right I got as close to you as I could get Lord don't you remember there everybody was there they didn't even understand what was going on and I was the one that was faithful to you I was the one that hung in there why am I here it's not fair to be in this spot this Jam this hard place all right what blows my mind and this is really what makes John special for John I'm persuaded did not know why he was there and did not know what was about to happen did not know that he was about to write the closing book of God's holy word I'm persuaded that he did not know that God was going to open up the windows of Prophecy and let him take a look at what was going to come in the ages to come I'm persuaded that he did not know that he was going to see the multitude of faces and one thing that I'm excited about that he saw my face when he saw that multitude that no man could number he saw my face a 21y Old Hippie that was involved in Witchcraft and Satanism and that had no hope that somehow had a belief that there was a god out there and one day a preacher knocked on his door and told him about the Holy Ghost and baptism in jesus' name and something in that room came over me and my wife and we said honey this is it let's go to this guy's church and get baptized and that first night of ever being in a Pentecostal church God filled me with the baptism of the Holy Ghost and John saw my face John saw my face and I intend to see that prophecy fulfilled I me believe you saw your face how many plan on being over there someday John didn't know he was going to see your face he didn't know he was going to see the Antichrist he didn't know he was was going to see the Lord return he didn't know any of that all he knew was out of boiling oil onto this island and I'm hurting but the Bible says by his own testimony and by the way he gave us the reason why he was there he told us why he was there it wasn't for stealing it wasn't for some crime it was because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ the only reason I'm here is cuz I was the best Christian I could be the only reason I'm here is cuz I was the best preacher I could become the only reason I'm here is because I did it the best I knew how and it got me on patness and don't you tell me the devil didn't meet him there and tell him all this junk boy God's really let you down God's really really good God to let you go through something like this isn't he boy he's really blown it for you look at if God Lov you so much how come you here boy you're you're a nerd you you you just ought to give up there's nothing left for you your days are over but John did not accept that because he said I was in the spirit on the Lord's Day I may be on Pat Miss but that doesn't mean I can't get in the

spirit it may be a hot place it may be a rocky place but that doesn't mean I can't get in the spirit and what I'm trying to tell you this morning is if John can get in the spirit on patmas you can get in the spirit and your situation wherever it is you are Hallelujah no matter what you're going through no matter how hard it is for you no matter how hot it is for you if John can do it you can do it and if John can have a Revival on patment you can have a Revival right where you are wo h oh I tell you anybody you can be seated anybody can get in the spirit in a meeting like this anybody I don't care how dead you are or how messed up you were when you came anybody can get in the spirit in a meeting like this but we don't live in meetings like this we got to go home we got Devil's waiting for us we got some patm misses waiting for us some of you came from some patm misses right some of you came from some hard places the Holy Ghost says to me that some of you came from some situations that don't see seem very fair you're in some jams it aren't your fault the only reason you're in them is cuz you're for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ and it seems like the more you pray the more you preach the more you worship the harder patmas gets and the devil says you might as well quit it's over for you Hallelujah but you just hang on brother and you stay in the spirit if you're going to stay in the spirit clap your hands right now hallelujah oh clap your hands all you people and shout unto God with a voice of Triumph I was in the spirit that's how I made it that's how I got through that's how you're going to get through just get back in the spirit get back back in the spirit get back in the spirit get back in the spirit not by might nor by power but by my spirit sayth the Lord get back in the spirit that's how we're going to make it through our patm misses you may be seated John said to himself I may die here physically I may croak right on this side this may be it for me physically but I refuse I absolutely refuse you see I was in my own weird way weird way praying in the year of 71 in October my own weird way and I said boss it's weird I shouldn't even have told you that much I want to move from Annapolis leaving and a voice not an audible voice the spirit of the Lord moved on me said I have something for you in the new New Year don't move and between

December Christmas and New Year's man came to my door and told me how to be saved how to Beed and that same spirit that told me not to move came into that room and said this is what I had for you in the new year and so with our hippie clothes bundled up our arm we went down that little church and sat down on the back row that was the last time I ever sat on the back row I've been sitting on the front row ever since praise God I didn't understand why they were doing this one sister was going that was weird other sister was going that was weird matter of fact there wasn't much in there that wasn't weird but that same spirit that came into my room when I prayed that came into my room when I was being witnessed to was in that little church house and the Holy Ghost says this is what you've been looking for all your life and when the alar call came we made our way up to the front and in about 10 minutes we were talking in tongues as the spirit of God gave the utterance and on the way home on the way home the Holy Ghost says you don't need your drugs anymore no you don't need your junk anymore you don't need that stuff anymore you found what you've been looking for and we went home and put it all in a trash bag chucked it in the dumpster Hallelujah and been talking in tongues ever since that was about 18 years ago and I made up my mind I'm going to hold on to this with everything I got this is what I was looking far even if I'm on a padm Miss I'm going to get in the spirit somehow you may be seated John said I may die here physically and I'm not going to die here spiritually you may kill me you may Chuck me out you may do whatever you want but I'm not going to die spiritually who shall separate us from the love of Christ your patmas can't separate you from the love of Christ your tribulation can't separate you from the love of Christ your distress can't separate you from the love of Christ or persecution or famine or nakedness or Pearl or sword for I am persuaded that's a problem with some folks they're not persuaded if the situation is good they can praise the Lord if the situation isn't so good it requires good circumstances to get them in the spirit if good circumstances are a requirement to get you in the spirit bad circumstances will push you out of the spirit but when you want to praise him not because of what's going on at the time but because you love him habac habac 3 verse 17 habac did you read that habac 3 verse 17 for I persuaded you may be seated that neither death nor life nor angels nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor things present whatever you came wrestling with it can't separate you nor things to come whatever it is you may have to face it cannot separate you nor height nor depth no matter how high your mountain is that's right or How deep the hole is you

think you're in it can't separate you somebody lift your hands and shall praise the Lord praise the Lord nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our lord habac 3:17 although the Fig Tree shall not blossom if the fig tree doesn't Blossom you don't have any figs neither shall fruit be in the vine if there's no grapes on the vine you don't have any grapes juice the labor of the olives shall fail if you don't have any olives you don't have any olive oil and the field shall yield no meat no wheat no bread and the flock shall be cut off from the F no sheep no lamb chops and there shall be no herd in the stall no cattle no hamburger I mean man he's talking about a bad scene he's talking about a patma situation everything they needed was gone everything they had to have disappeared everything they love was taken away from him amen but he said that doesn't have to wipe me out that doesn't have to kill me spiritually that doesn't have to take away my joy that doesn't have to take away my victory that doesn't have to take away my Revival am I doing all right listen to this next verse what's that first word yet yet you know what yet means in spite of never mind it doesn't matter what's going on yet yet I will re in the god the I will in the god of my salvation I'll stay in the spirit anyhow is that all right I'll stay in the spirit anyhow I'll talk in tongues anyhow I'll worship God anyhow I'll praise the Lord anyhow even though it's even though I hurt even though I don't deserve it I'm going to stay in the spirit I'm going to stay in the spirit even though people are turning on me even though I got church trouble even though finances are not so hot I'm going to still rejoice in the god of my salvation you got something to praise him about your name is written down in the Lamb's Book of Life you've been washed into blood you've been Sanctified in the spirit you got something to talk in tongues about you got something to praise the Lord about I don't care how hard it is how hot it is you got something to praise him about you've been called out of Darkness Into His Marvelous Light and that ought to keep you praising God for a long time hey when the olive is gone praise the Lord anyhow when the grapes are gone praise the Lord anyhow oh God you may be seated that's right somebody said I can't praise the Lord I'm in a valley God I'm in a Valley Bible doesn't say though I walk in the valley we got too many people walking in a valley he didn't say yeah though I walk in the valley he said ye though I walk through the valley as long as you're walking in it you're going to stay in it but if you get in it just walk through it praise the Lord just walk through to the other side you're not supposed to be in it you're supposed to be walking through it some and while you're in there let me give you two things to shout about just all right I'm a nobody but I'm having fun right now let me give you something to shout about if you're in that Valley going through that Valley in order to get in that Valley you had to come off a mountain to get there if you keep walking through it you're going to climb up another one there's two things to keep you shouting what you just came off of and what you're about to go up on that'll keep the pout out of you and put the shout in you that'll keep you in the spirit when you're going through A Patman situ situation remember how good it was and how good it's going to get may be seated patas you know what's cool about Moses Moses does this thing for God kills an Egyptian sort of like John you know want fire out of Heaven just want just do it
