Summary
Summary prepared by Acts 2:38 Life from the transcript below — the preacher’s words follow in full.
A church in exile
- He frames the message as trajectory, not prophecy: the nation is now post-Christian, most people did not grow up in church, and a biblical worldview and an unbiblical one arrive at wildly different solutions to the same problems.
- He reads Jeremiah's letter to the exiles in Babylon (Jeremiah 29:4-7): build houses and live in them, plant gardens and eat their produce, take wives and multiply, and seek the welfare of the city, for in its welfare they would find their welfare.
- The exiles' whole structure of worship had been overturned — temple destroyed, priesthood gone — and the church today, a body of transplants in a metro city, is in a like place: 'we're here now.'
Scriptures: Jeremiah 29:4-7
Study the word
- First area of focus: in Babylon there was no longer a priestly society to bring the word, so the Jews set up synagogues and homes where they studied the word themselves and taught their children.
- Sunday school and Midweek University serve this same end, but neither matters without personal study: if we love God we will love his word.
- Learning is a discipline that stretches and hurts; ignorance is the natural state, and Daniel and his companions submitted to years of rigorous learning to be competent to stand before the king.
Prayer and community
- Second area: decentralized worship — with no temple, prayer became personal; Daniel modeled it, praying three times a day, building the temple where he was.
- Third area: strong communities — the exiles arranged themselves in community groups, synagogues and homes; connect groups are that same survival structure, not an optional social event: connect like your life depends on it, because spiritually it does.
A personal identity
- Fourth area: personal identity, from Daniel 1:3-4 — the king sought youths without blemish, of good appearance, skillful in all wisdom; he meddles deliberately: intentionality in how we present ourselves is godly, because we represent Christ and may be the only Christ someone ever sees.
- Our actions, our attitudes and our aptitudes are areas we have to focus on and hone for revival; we can no longer be casual Christians.
- He reads Daniel 1:5-7: after three years of education the youths stood before the king, and the chief official renamed them — Daniel ('God my judge') was given a Babylonian name, and the Hebrew names carrying God's name were traded for Babylonian ones (the 'shining fire' word behind Abednego is the same word as the morning star, Lucifer, in Isaiah 14:12).
- The world renames us after our sins and failures, but Romans 6 says those buried with Christ are raised again in his name: our identity is not our past but Christ; he presses the appeal to be baptized in Jesus name and put on the new man.
Scriptures: Daniel 1:3-4; Daniel 1:5-7; Isaiah 14:12; Romans 6
Multiply for the next generation
- Fifth area: multiply — he re-reads Jeremiah 29:6: take wives, have sons and daughters, multiply there and do not decrease; be multigenerational and plant trees whose shade you will never sit under.
- Our kids must be better educated, not insulated — able to stand in the king's court with clean hands and to answer the atheist roommate, the coworker, and the person hurt by church.
- He closes in prayer over the congregation, asking God to settle the word deep and to apply it in our actions, our attitudes and our aptitudes.

I want to be clear today as as I am as I am opening up and preaching I do want to be clear I am not speaking from the prophetic okay now the the the prophetic may move at some point I'm not not limiting that but but the the the tra I am looking at trajectory today okay I I don't want to confuse those two and I don't want you to feel like we that I am but I look around and if you'll notice we live now in a post Christian Nation right all right we that means that the majority of our nation did not grow up going to Sunday school to church as a preacher you know what that means that means that I have to when I mention a story in the Bible I can't just say you know the story of Jonah and the well or Moses in the ark okay maybe I can but most of the time we have to make room for that yes it it I I you know I can I can bring up numbers uh I I love numbers and all y'all just just glaze over if I put up a chart Vandy would just walk out uh and but my grandparents both of my grandparents they were the ninth of 10 kids all right so they had big families back in the 30s and 40s uh and every one of them to the best of my knowledge grew up going to church to the best of my knowledge they all did like uh my my my great-grandmother she received the gift of the Holy Ghost 1927 at brush Arbor and found a Holiness Church and went to a little Mississippi uh Holiness Church for I as far as I know all of her life from that point forward and she raised her kids in that now I don't know where all of them went you can't keep can't keep track of I mean I see I you know I'm fing to have a kid I'm hoping I can keep track of it much less 10 kids so yeah you know like so both of both of my grandparents grew up going but let's just say 70% of their of of them stayed in church of some some flavor some sort of church and then of their kids maybe 70% of those maybe of and then so on and so forth and we get to my generation and I don't know of that original 20 I don't know how how many people are multiplied out of that but also I don't know how many that are in church but I am willing to bet that it's less than half does that I bet that plays out numbers wise that plays out Across the Nation that just it just uh it just does this is uh it affects it affects our society it affects how we're ordered if if the way you view the world is through a Biblical world view and and the way that someone else views The World Isn't you guys are going to look at the same problem and a r it wildly different solutions that's right I mean wildly different and so we we talked about election year and and and all those things and that goes in I don't really care election year is election year right but all of that that just shows the temperature of where we are as a nation we are a post-christian nation I I think that we got used to it is that fair I think we got used to being a where everybody was saved and everybody went to church and and we could all just go along to get along and we've adopted our lifestyles to that we've we've I would even I would say we've adapted our church styles to that we uh and and I I look at it and once again I'm I'm looking at trajectory not prophecy here so if we're on on that trajectory I go to the word and I say God where where have we seen this before
in Jeremiah 29 uh in verse four thus Jeremiah is he is sending a letter to the Exiles in Babylon these were people that were Israelites that had grown up in a nation under God that that was in Israel the law the biblical law and the civil law they were they were the same there was there wasn't a difference in those things uh uh there was their their their society and the way it was set up was was set to be intertwined with God's law and then they didn't follow that and God allowed them to be exiled to Babylon they were conquered and he took away and there was and there were some that he said would never return so it changed the entire structure of how of how the Jews had Church the temple was destroyed at some point that was the place where they worshiped that was where the sacrifice was given in the morning and in the evening this is where the priests would give out the law would give out the the the the the priest the priesthood would study the word and then they would impart that to the people and it was no more so Jeremiah he writes to them he says thus says the Lord of hosts the god of Israel to all the Exiles whom I have sent into Exile from Jerusalem to Babylon build houses and live in them plant Gardens and eat their produce take wives and have sons and daughters takes wives for your sons and your daughters in marriage that they may bear Sons and Daughters multiply there do not decrease but seek the welfare of the city where I've sent you into Exile and pray to the Lord on its behalf for in its welfare you will find your welfare he is this this is a i i c we read this and I cannot I I can't understand completely the paradigm shift that these people their minds are going through the Paradigm Shift of how they are to live life is turned completely upside down if I may there's there's a couple parallels I could draw here but you know how many of us are native to Chattanooga Dakota raise your hand do you know what that is like it's such a weird makeup for a church it is such a weird thing but guess what we're here now that's right amen I want to preach to the church today for just a minute verse 5 says build houses and live in them plant Gardens and eat their produce you know there's a there's a Greek proverb as as a society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they will never sit wow you're here now your grandparents didn't plant these trees that's right your parents didn't plant these trees but your kids need trees to sit under right my kids need trees to sit under this this is if I may the church in Exile right raise your hand to we knew there was something different about you this is the church in Exile this is the church that has one way or the another found themselves in this place in a nation that is now no longer just our little community churches I grew up I I grew up in Backwoods guys that place is going to be 30 years behind everywhere like that's just the way it's going to be and that's okay that's not where we are now we're in the Metro of Chattanooga and I don't know but it's a little different than colinwood just little hey I know y'all know what col is just calm down it's all right says
and so I look at this and and as Christians in the 21st century I think how are we to survive how are we to grow how are we to make sure that the generation after us isn't lost is that okay like that I know I know that we all ask that question I know in our own homes we are trying our best to make sure our kids are are are understanding the word I know that you if I may you you're bringing your kids to church you are doing your best to instruct the word and to him and so I want to focus today on five areas of focus and I may only get to four and if so then I'll I'll just tell you the last one when we get there study the word when the Jews got to Israel or to Babylon there was nothing they could they they did no long they no longer had a Priestly Society they had they no longer had someone to bring the word to them in fact this this is where they set up synagogues this is where they set up Community type churches they had to study the word in their own home they had to make sure that they understood the word of God because they were in a foreign Land Learning a different language being taught in different ways and if no one else was going to teach them no one else was going to teach their children no one else was going to make sure they knew hero Israel the Lord our God is one except for them right they it turned turned their world upside down and and and it changed the way they interacted with God because if we love God we will love his word and if we love his word we will love him they they started falling in love with the word of God and it changed everything about how they ordered their lives the word is the only comprehensible life Hong God lifelong God book known to mankind it is Ageless Timeless Limitless boundless unfailable and unfailable beautiful word of God read the word study the word grab a hold of the word dive into the word of God God I don't know what you're trying to speak to me look it up just look into the word of God it's the word of God it is how we know the nature of God it is how we fall in love with the being of God it is how we get to know God and I know we're relational I understand that but my Lord if you never talk to your spouse probably have a peaceful life right I'm just kidding right the opposite of that right the opposite of that right yeah yeah she was she was she was watch practically speaking some of us relegate the study of the word to Sunday school I want to make a plug here Sunday school is important because that's where we do study the word together we bring our our our our thoughts that we've been studying in the week and we bring them together and we work on them and we hone them and and we understand them and we look at them from a thousand different angles so that we know the word inside and out midweek University this year we started midweek University and I want to say the response to that and and and and the response to I think the need that that is feeling that's incredible I'm so thankful for it but none of that matters if we don't have personal study that's right that's good if we do not take our time to study the word
second Point decentralized worship this was second area of focus that they had to change their their worship worship and prayer are are synonymous okay they're interchangeable terms here in the Old Testament and they went from a society that the priest prayed and guided them to a society where nobody prayed nobody nobody prayed and if they did it was to some other God it was not to Jehovah it was not to El sh I it was not to God and and and so Daniel modeled this in prayer he prayed three times a day we find later and and and it seems to have been a precedent that was set he prayed in the morning and at lunch and in the evening and and he focused his time God I may not have the temple right in front of me but I'm going to build it where I'm at I I'm I'm I'm going to build it where I'm at and it's not easy it's hard in fact I there's a reason guys that we try and push family prayer or United prayer every Monday night okay these these These are five areas of focus and we're trying and I'm going to I'm going to get to one here in just a minute personal prayer is worship it is building that relationship with God
now Vandy you're going to like this because the next part was they built strong communities connect groups are not something that we just do haphazardly just for fun all right I I'm an introvert I don't like hanging out for fun I don't I have a motorcycle you know how many conversations you can have with somebody on a motorcycle exactly that's what I like doing for fun but you know what I know I need you and you need me we need each other at the time of captivity the Jews began arranging themselves in community groups where they would Gather in a synagogue or a community church or a home this was something completely new to their world this was something completely different than than the priests just offering up an offering or going to the temple once a year for their for the day of atonement or just or just going to the central place it was we have to change How We Do life it was an area of focus this connect group leaders this is an an awesome responsibility as an overpowering awesome responsibility to make sure that there is Spirit in community good it's it's hard guys I know we come together for fun youth group I know we like to to hang out but hanging out doesn't get us to get us to heaven but when we hang out with one another we build off one another we grow we sharpen one another and then we get to heaven eventually it's not a one- day process if it was Buddy some of us had real good days some us had real bad days let's just let's just get there right and and this spiritual matter it's a Godly matter please take this as a personal challenge connect like your life depends upon it because it does your spiritual life that we we went through covid and we survived guys and I'm not trying to take us back to that but there there may come a day once again not prophetic trajectory there may come a day that we're not able together as a whole body but you know how hard it is to stop a small group we fought Wars for 20 years trying to stop small groups that was the war on terror that's their model the cell groups okay and I'm not trying that but this is not war I'm not but that model there do you know how hard it is to stop that it's nearly impossible but we have to know in our in ourselves and who we are that this is how we grow this is how we learn this is how we build upon one another this this is how we build upon the word of God
and then number four would they they had to develop a personal identity and there I'm going to I'm going to stay on this one for just a little bit because Daniel and and the three Hebrew boys does anybody know their names Shadrach meshack and and a winnabago no that was the three Babylonian boys what was their what was their Hebrew names h that's a hard one haniah Michelle and Azariah they got to Babylon with Daniel and and and and and their personal identity was attacked immediately immediately without it first it was like you got to meet these so in Daniel 1 verse4 or verse three the king commanded Ashan as his chief fic to bring some of the people of Israel both of the royal family and of the nobility youths without blemish do you know and and I'm going to meddle here for just a minute I'm going to meddle you know I'm just poke and and prod here for just a minute do you know that it's Godly to be healthy to be fit to have discipline I'm I'mma I'mma read this gluttony is the most widespread sin in America do you know that preaching against gluttony in America is like preaching against homosexuality in Sodom and gomorra sorry I told you I was going to poke I'm I'm just coming out shooting here all right shot's fired man we're the internet's just going to kick us off today I got to I got to figure out how to better say that that Youth Without blemish he said of good appearance this isn't pretty or handsome this is taking one's appearance taking pride in one's appearance intentionality in how we conduct ourselves intentionality in how we dress intentionality and how we present ourselves to others it's not vanity okay it I'm not and I want you to know I'm I'm I'm I'm going somewhere with this there is godliness to presenting ourselves with intentionality we represent Christ yes we should act like it that's as that matters in ethics and morals but it matters in how we present ourselves God cares how he is presented okay and I'm not talking ho in I'm not I'm just talking demeanor I'm talking how we interact with others how we dress in public matters do you know that Walmart memes are a thing Christians shouldn't be on them that's not godly I I listen I know that's a soap box probably okay but understand this in a world where we are the minority and a world where we are the outlier in a world where we are the Exiles we can't just say well I'm just passing through we can't just say this world's not my home we and and and I'm good with that it's not our home but guess what we're here to build we're here to grab we're here to and every little thing matters this is a place that we need to plant some trees we need to we we got some people that need to know who Jesus is and everything that I can do to make sure that they know that I know God everything that I can do I want to do it do you know I this is not natural I I was teaching the kids a part of this uh uh earlier last month I guess when I was a kid I was stubborn I was mean I grew out of it I'm not stubborn or mean anymore my parents I was real country too so uh I don't know I for some reason I thought it was the thing to do to hold my Fork like a shovel I don't know if anybody else ever struggled with that yeah there we go you you know what I'm talking about all right yeah like I mean just like I wouldn't hold it properly I was like no I ain't doing that that's for girls and my parents were like if you sit down with the president would you do that I was like yeah I don't like that guy anyway I don't care you know like that a bad at ude about it real bad attitude so they beat me yeah sometimes that's what's got to happen I don't know how many times still had a bad attitude until some things you just have to learn yourself and you have to understand you know that looks real stupid go ahead laugh a little harder sometimes that just some things we do just look real stupid and we're a reflection of God's glory I I told you I'm going to meddle just poking and there's there's a there's an Apostolic Church in Knoxville fac Knoxville and I don't know 70 80 a thousand years ago whenever Bishop founded that church he had a he had a philosophy now those guys listen I I ain't trying to import their philosophy but understand where it came from you go to church on a Wednesday night there and buddy I mean it's like it was like brother Rob walking in with a tie on Wednesdays I was like brother top brother Rob cut that out we don't want to do that yeah but that culture is look our best and be our best now what that looks like here I don't know I hope it doesn't look like a tie every service I hate ties okay okay that's not what I'm saying but what it I think for the culture of CAC it looks like intentionality it looks like not I'm going to church not I'm presenting it's it's I represent God when I step out that door I might be the only Christ those people will ever see and I I know we we look at it spiritually and and and we'll get there but practically speaking here I might be the only Christ they ever see and I want them to know that I am proud to be a child of God that I am someone that God can look at and say they intentionally put themselves together I know this is super weird this is not Sunday preaching I I I know look listen I prayed but you know I prayed about it we'll get there but we can no longer be casual Christians we can no longer have our acostic attitudes or acostic character we can no longer just treat every day as the mundane it doesn't mean we have to go around dressed to the teas oh we're better that no no no that's not it at all that's the wrong attitude that's the wrong that's the wrong approach if I know who I am I know that God's called me out and I know that I I our our actions our attitudes and aptitudes are areas that we have to focus on and areas that we have to hone in order for Revival I I I believe it I I I guys guys they're they're just I I know I know I feel I wo I hope I can get this out today guys because what we do how we do it and how well we do it matters that's good it is Godly it is Godly it is God ordained for us to put our best foot forward to be I am a child of God and I'm going to act like it oh come on some of you hey hey your kids go out and act and you're like that ain't my kid you don't want God saying that to you yeah Connor the next part of that verse said skillful in all wisdom yeah they had to know how to act in different settings they had to carry a conversation with people above their age level experience level achievement level income level different demographic than them they had to have wisdom in order to know how to speak as Solomon put it to go in and out among your people God that's it amen they had to this this is something I came across and study the scholars believed there was a school for understanding the word and understanding a wisdom School essentially and don't turn me off here a college essentially it was that it did not just teach the word but it taught Administration philosophy Sciences astronomy math Business Health it T all these things that gave these guys the ability they were not preachers or priests they were just your they were of the noble blood and they were well learned they had been endowed with knowledge they had studied and they knew and understood the disciplines of studying retaining and applying information do you know ignorance is the natural state of our being if you put if you turn us loose on an island and you never te if if you just put somebody on an island a a little kid that can just find food that kid will be just as ignorant when you come back 20 years later I'm not suggesting you do that okay it's just we are not it is not natural for us to be to study to know it is not natural it is a learned discipline it hurts being taught is not easy because it we look in the mirror of our own ignorance and we see how helpless we are and we're like I don't want to feel ignorant I don't want to feel like I don't know what I'm doing I don't want to feel this way so if I never look in this mirror of learning I don't have to worry about it that's not godly I mean sure we can do it but we'll never get to the place that these guys got to it stretch it stretches you it hurts Vandy how bad does your brain hurt right now he lost all his hair man I'm sorry that was that was a low blow it's a low blow lost to is low blow he's working through a doctorate right now Sister Jen we all saw we all saw the pain you were in last year you were like come in you're like you're like she's not drunk as you suppose she's just in school and working it hurts Lauren's working through her Masters right now and guys I'm paying for it some days like literally but you know she's paying for it it hurts it's stretch it stretching your mind outside of just the 1 + 1 equals four you said four dude maybe maybe don't go into engineering I don't I'm just kidding understanding learning they had to understand the process because guess what once they got to Babylon this was not the end of their learning they got there and they had to go through three years of rigor rig rigor I'm want to skip over that word they had to go through three years of some really intense learning they had to and it stretched who they were and then they had to be competent to stand in the king's Palace can I can I right here I I think that sometimes we look at this as Christians and we say the king's Palace can I just can I just be real Washington DC is the most corrupt terrible Place why would anyone ever want to go there or the state capital or the the local politics or the why would anyone want to go there because if we are going to change our world and affect our world in a day in an age where we are the minority if we're going to change if we are going to affect people and and affect policy and affect decisions it's not through voting it's through politics is that right did I read that right politics now I I'm not saying everybody's got to run for office but they had to have the they had to have the morals the the Scruples the car to survive the king's court because that's where all the backstabbing all the Shady deals all that went down and they had to be able to stand there with their hands clean and say no no King this is the best way and God promoted them guys I I I as Christians as Christians in the 21st century our actions our attitudes and our aptitudes matter that fourth that that that's that fourth area and then the they had to learn the language of the Chans or the calans guys I looked up that language it's it's called uniform however you say it I don't even know what it looks like it's just scratches on tablet for all I know they had to learn a whole new language heaven forbid just asked my wife she's tried to teach me Spanish it was not great but that's part of it we guys it Jesus said they said when you going to set up the kingdom Jesus his disciples talking to him when you going to set it up he said my kingdom comes not with observation behold the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand when he sent the spirit and he established his kingdom in our hearts we no longer belong to a country guys you can be communist Democrat Republican libertarian I you can be whatever you want to be I do not care because first and foremost you're in Christ first and last it doesn't matter in Christ that's it that's where we identify that's where our identity must lie
verse five the king assigned them a daily portion of food that the king king ate of wine he that he drank they were educated for three years and at the end of the time they were standing before the king among them were Daniel hananiah Michelle Michel and Azariah of the tribe of Judah and the chief of the Unix gave them names Daniel he called belto shazar hananiah he called he called Michel he called and Azariah he called do you know when I asked what they every one of us knew their Babylon names we did not know their Hebrew names except for Daniel because who wants to remember belar do you know the names were given on purpose to them as they were born in in the the the in in the Hebrew context names meant more than just hey I'm Sam it told a story of who you were it told a story of where your destiny was going yeah and they came in right there and they changed their names you see Daniel says Daniel means if you break it the L there the in each of their names they have either yah or L for God in it okay Daniel is God my judge you know what Bel AAR is Bell's Prince Bell Bell's Prince hananiah is whom Jehovah hath favored you know what Shadrach is rack is the son God Michelle is who is what God is or who is comparable to God meach mesak is Earth God Azariah who Jehovah helps whom Jehovah helps you know what Abednego is it's the servant of The Shining fire we today that's the same NE is the same just just for FYI here it's the same word as as uh uh the morning star or Lucifer that you find in Isaiah 14 and 12 Believe It or Not same one there it's if I may taking their identity and turning it upside down wow
as people of God and I I'm I I I'm going to here right here say that you've walked in today and the world has called you this it's called you that let's called you another you have walked in today and you've chosen you're identified with this and I've identified with this sin I've identified with that sin you may have turned your back on God you may have you may have been telling yourself these things you may have been saying I am nothing I I I I want you to understand the identity okay the conversation that you've had with yourself the conversation that that when when no one else is listening this is what I am now I guess this is just who I am some of us I'm just a failure I'm never going to get it right some of us I'm just just a just a sinner I'm never going to going to be right with God some of us just get right here and we listen to the name that others have called us and we forget something see Romans six says those were buried with Christ were raised again in his name there's a reason we're baptized in Jesus name there is a the reason why it guys I I I know I I know I slowed us down I'm on point four here okay but there is a reason why that our identity is not found in anything else outside of Jesus our past that old man it's gone that old man is is washed away it's buried and I'm raising again not bound and not identifying in what I have been bound before and what I have been bound with time and time again and not what they have told me that I am but I'm being raised up in God God's my judge Jehovah has favored me who is comparable to God God helps me you don't think when the three Hebrew boys were in the fiery furnace you don't they weren't saying oh oh they weren't saying Abednego the servant of The Shining fire no he was saying my name's Azariah the one whom Jehovah helps I I I I I came here today preaching to the church but I can't go without saying you got to be baptized in Jesus name I can't go without saying You must be buried with him and raised again and put on a new man and put on a new coat and say I am not my past I am not what they used to call me I am not what I used to do I am raised again in Jesus and I know that I know that I know that I am in Christ I am a newborn creature oh things are passed away behold all things are new if you came in today and you're struggling with who you are if you're struggling with what you've done if you've struggling with the things they've said about you or you've said about yourself be bad tied in Jesus name lay your life down and pick it up with him
and as I'm closing today and Brother Don he's he's thinking about coming back he like he don't know where he's going to land this thing at the fifth Focus that they had to do was they had to multiply Jeremiah 296 take wives have sons and daughters take wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage that they may bear sons and daughters and multiply there do not decrease be multigenerational do not just think of yourself plan PL some trees that you'll never be able to sit under
today if you'll stand with me today my my message has been to the church I want you to know that I knew that going in because I truly believe that spiritually better days are ahead but our world's going to change I truly believe we're going to struggle with some of these things and I wanted to be a little prescriptive on it maybe explain some of the reasoning of what we do what we do but multiplication and multigenerational ism is not an option it's a must yes I I listen many people you'll hear this many people don't want to bring kids into the world because the shape of them none of us it's that's not a problem here except for George and Bethany that's it that's it but when we're bringing them into this world we must take it personal we must take personal accountability yes for the propulsion of our J of our progeny into a world they are minority you see Matt if you go to college and you room with a atheist or agnostic and you've never thought about that before how you going to confront that right if you if you go to work and someone says I'm a Satanist and you've never studied through that before do you know what a Satanist is are you one okay all right was close it's close if you go to school or you walk down the street and you say I want to invite you to church and someone says you know Church hurt me and you've never studied that out and you've never understood how to approach that you'll never be able to witness to that person that's right that's right and it's not Church hurt me too right it's like no it's hey I'm sorry but you know what Jesus did for you see our kids and us we must be better educated not insulated all right our identities we must know who we are must the word must be deep inside of our hearts thank you Junior Bible quizzers hallah amen and then we must have the ability to stand in the king's court we must have integrity amen amen because no one's going to teach them unless we do no one's going to say here o Israel the Lord our God is one Lord no one's going to say your identity is found in Jesus not politics I listen you know why we're all mad or why why everybody's so mad in in the US or at least why it looks that way because we've got it conflated all right we've got it all messed up that doesn't matter that's not where I identify all right all right I identify in Christ thank you and so in in in in in in ending today I I I know to the church I want us to pray that God would help us to be Christians in the 21st century that God would allow us to take our actions our attitudes and our aptitudes and lead people to Christ I don't have a I don't have this listen if you want to be baptized in Jesus name just come tell us sit there and pray about it think about it and then and then we'll talk about it but as the church if you've already been baptized in Jesus name and and and you're and you're like well okay that's not for me no this is for you got to love the word got to love one another amen amen I've got to worship it on my own I've got to know who I am and I've got to teach it day in and day out I know we know this I know we know this but guys now is not the time for us to let up on it now is not the time for us to get comfortable with it now is not the time well we've got a Church to go to that's that's a surplus that's a that's a good thing that's just the icing on the cake the cake is these other things right I know you have to eat you have to eat that too all right so I'm I'm going to step away and I wished every one of us can find a place to prayer God going through this list I'm personally convicted on some of these God I'm not doing that like I should God I'm not building a future for Abe like I should that's it's going to be my son so or AG I'm not I'm not and and in these five areas here these are just principles but I ask you today as you find your place of prayer that you and God would have that conversation cuz I don't know where yours is I don't know what yours is but you do God does some people say God knows my heart yeah he does so can we right now
Jesus we love you God we thank you God we praise you God we worship you Lord you are so kind and you are so good to us God you have moved on us today God you've allowed the spirit of the most holy God God to settle in upon us today God you've allowed worship and intercession God and I believe for the healings and the Miracles and the signs and the Wonders but God I pray Lord that your word would settle deep within us God as a church God as a body of Christ God Chattanooga needs Revival and I believe we have every piece of the puzzle I believe we have every opportunity God to build your kingdom not ours God to grow your kingdom not ours God I believe that we can change the very trajectory of this nation but God I pray Lord that you would help us to change it in our homes you would help us to change it in our personal lives in our personal walks God I think God I I I pray God as as as spiritually as important as everything that has happened today is this God I pray Lord that you would let it settle deep in our soul that you would let it settle deep in our being God we've got to know who we are in you we've got to know that we're not the things we've done we're not the the things that they call us but God we are yours we are children of the most high God Jesus I pray I pray I pray over this congregation today God to help us God help us to grow in you help us to follow after you God where we're where we're coming upsh God I pray Lord that you would let the mirror of the word to to to go in and let the spirit to go in and to fight us under God but that you would let the Holy Ghost to to build us to make us stronger to make us better God help us God Jesus Jesus Jesus there's a hunger and a thirst I am desperate he mer me I'm not waiting not anymore I need you Lord I need you Lord there's a hunger and a thirst I am desperate he Mur me I'm not waiting not anymore I need you Lord I need you Lord there's a hunger and The Thirst I am desper immers me I'm not waiting not anymore I need you Lord I need you Lord there's a hunger and a thirst I am desperate in me I'm not waiting not anymore I need you Lord I need you Lord I need you Lord I need you Lord I need you Lord I need you you Lord I need you Lord h anymore I'm need GL I do think it's it's so interesting that as a church of transplants in one way or another we all come from different backgrounds wildly different backgrounds some of us are Georgia football fans wildly different backgrounds from all over the world but we're here today our commonality is not found in really much of anything I mean honestly we've got we've got a couple Hunters we got a few of this we got a few of that but there's there's we got a couple golfers like that's it like I mean if you think about it you really just break it down as as the makeup of our of our congregation of our local church here but our our bond so much bigger than we are guys I want to see Chattanooga turned upside down amen every day I want to see this whole area changed and I know it's going to happen can feel I can see it I I I I know it and knowing that allowed me to preach this today is that okay because I'm not preaching for one sermon trying to plant a tree said we can bring Christ to others if you would one more time before we leave would you stand to your feet and would you lift your hands I don't know what you got out of the word today but I know I can pray real hard that you got what God needed to get for you God I pray right now God Lord that you have removed me from me God and you removed all my my faults and failures God and you've allowed your word to go forth on your people and change our lives and our hearts and our minds God I pray Lord today that of the healings and the Miracles and the souls that needed to be saved God I pray that your word just just settles in that the that the the seeds be planted and the water be giving God but God I pray that your word settles into our hearts every one of us God today help us to take it and help us to apply it in our actions or in our attitudes in our aptitudes God we'll be careful to give you all the praise all the glory and all the honor in Jesus name everyone go with Christ have a great week
