Build the Church Ep #2

they've they've done said it all tonight so we're going to just do communion now i'm just kidding it is last week i i do this every time i get nervous or i'm overthinking or something i forget to give honor where honors do you i didn't make a note of it again so uh last week i i forgot to tell thank you to the gifts and i forgot to tell her thank you to sister jennifer and forgot to give pastor honor for allowing me this privilege uh those are you ever forget something so apologize guys i forgot thank you guran and sister kathy music and ladies ministry will change and build a church a lot of churches a lot of churches got started because of a ladies prayer meeting some of the most powerful churches in the world because ladies got a hold of a need and prayed until heaven moved guys i i mean i'm i'm it's sad to say but man i've never seen a man be able to pray like a lady all right and and i use my my grandmother y'all i'm gonna say watch out for her that's all i say if she gets a hold of something she don't let it go right ladies prayer thank you ladies so much for all that you do i appreciate it thank y'all so much in in building the church we look at something in paul put it in such a way he put it in first corinthians chapter 12. verses 14 through 31 he he talked about something he talked about the body the hands the feet the toes he didn't he didn't do ezekiel's the leg bones connected to the knee bone does anybody know that song there we go but he did use the body as an analogy he said in in first corinthians 12 verse 14 he said for the body does not consist of one member but of many uh if the foot shall say because i'm not a hand i do not belong to the body to the body that would not make it any less a part of the body and if an ear should say because i am not an eye i do not belong to the body that would not make it any less a part of the body and if the whole body were an eye where would the sense of hearing where would be the sense of hearing and if the whole body weren't ear where would be the sense of smell but as it is god arranged the members in the body each one of them as he chose if all were a single member where would the body be as it as it is there are many parts yet one body the eye cannot say to the hand i have no need of you nor again the head to the feet i have no need of you on the contrary the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable and those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor and our own and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty which are which are more presentable parts do not require but god has so composed the body giving greater honor to the part that lacked lacked it that there be may be no division in the body and that the members may have the same care one for another if one member suffers all suffer together if one member is honored all rejoice together now you are the now you are the body of christ and individual members of it and god has appointed the church first apostles second prophets third teachers then miracles then gifts of healing helping administrating in various kinds of tongues are all apostles or all prophets are all teachers do all work miracles do all possess gifts of healing do all speak with tongues do all interpret but earnestly desire the best gifts and gifts and i will show you a more excellent way now there's one more one more slide there uh if you get if you guys have the the photo uh but the body's important every part of the body is important if you guys have the the photo that i sent you in the in the email um the babylon b god bless them but sorry there is no appendix here all right all right yeah the every member even the appendix right we may not understand exactly what it does but it's important we don't we don't have a full comprehension but every uh if you don't think something's important wait till it hurts a pinky toe can you real quick i mean real quick if you think something doesn't hurt have it have or something doesn't doesn't have have like a scratch right on that like weird part of your back that you can't reach you're like right it everything matters it all works together there is no indispensable part of the body the body when one hurts we all hurt that's why we're a body that's why we come together that's why we work together now in in doing that i want to i would i'm going to focus on that tonight and i'm going to look at our structure all right last week we talked about structure and spirit and how you have to have both right if you just have structure you've just got just a justice structure there's nothing going to be to it and then if you just have spirit there's nothing for it to cling to structure the spirit clings to your structure and it supports and it acts as maybe a net so to speak to to catch what god has to do or has in mind to do but our structure here uh i have this really cool app and you guys i'm i think i'm sharing my screen with you guys now uh and if it doesn't work this we haven't tried this live yet so all right can y'all see this okay barely i don't think i can do that i'm sorry this was this this is uh let me take the tv down and just we need a few more tvs i think all but the light blue okay well i'll cover it this is uh it moves it's really cool it spins yeah it's fancy yeah thank you thank you this is is kind of a overall it's not perfect it's this hasn't been peer reviewed so if something's wrong your department looks bad or you're like that's not the way you spell that please forgive me all right this pastor has has about a lot of things on his plate but organizationally he has about four groups that he tries to deal with directly connect groups is the light blue then there's organizational admin and then there's the administrative assistant and then there's the board and inside the board right it's on a rotation the board has brother gibson and brother seth artiaga and then also the treasury all right and inside the treasury there's a fundraising right so it kind of it it comes together that way now in the in there's also the connect group so each group there's there's multiple of those i didn't have all those input because i looked at right before church and i was like i forgot to add all those in so there's for each each age group and station in life there's a connect group for every individual that walks through the door this is a group that you're most likely to have something in common with right because i don't know i mean like like i love sister ethel all right i go and hang out with sister ethel regularly like she's she's awesome but she doesn't want to go golfing with me in fact she'd just tell me to just mind my own business right like now and and in doing that right so our our connect groups are groups that sometimes it just helps us to have someone to do life with our administrative assistant there's a lot of things that are a lot of hard things to keep track of how many of y'all have a calendar yeah how many have like your for your children have have a sports calendar yeah or an event calendar yeah so then multiply that by like you know 80 and there's pastor's calendar guys all right no it's not true cancel so that's that's and there's there's various other things administrative assistant does but that that kind of that kind of uh pulls that in together and then in in the church organizationally there are a lot of events a lot of things that happen so we have an organizational admin and uh that's me that's that's all i have to say about that honestly thank you thank you i appreciate it i mean i don't really know what i do so i make charts i like charts and colors that's that's it that's my specialty in life but in the or in the organization of the church we have different departments that's what each of these uh each each week each of these gentlemen and each of these ladies they're getting up and they're presenting their heart they're so in their mind for their department their vision we last week we had christian education and in that is sunday school hyphen nursery kids church there's a lot that goes into that right because i don't know how many teachers you have sister jen but if that mean people text me i just block them all mute yeah right that's a lot one person can't do that all right not one single person can in any part even even in a sunday school class or sunday school helpers because one teacher can't possibly do it all and that's that's what we're we're a body for we're working together we have and then outside of that we we have we go to the youth and and we don't really know what they do but they're there they're just young people and we try and put them in a room where they'll be quiet right like all right guys leave us alone now i was asking dylan i was like all right marketing dylan what you got in here and he was like well let me just tell you i was like i ain't got enough bubbles man yeah i was like i'm sorry i'm out like you're out of space i'm gonna erase that one off he was like no i want to do all these things because he has he has a vision he has an idea and he'll present that next week of all right these are all the things i want to do now who can help me do them right and there's a lot to do there's it's not just as simple as turning on camera i assure you right there's in any situation especially when technology's involved there's a million ways it can go wrong and one way it'll go right one way so ask ask ethan how many times he's got a phone call he's like ah i didn't know that happened right there's a million ways for it to not go right and inside there's there's merch there's social media there's i.t support 21st century church you got to have those things there's production photography you see people walking around every service they're all up in your you know you're like crying you're like oh no they're like oh god no no the same person just keeps doing it we don't take a picture of you if you do it every service we know what you're crying for now so so there that that takes up an immense amount of time immense amount of work uh then we have ministries and in ministries it's this is a new organization uh that are a new group that we don't know what they do either so talk to horton about that uh now they're responsible for things outside the church and i'll go more into detail of that they're responsible for bible studies finding people for bible studies things like that ministries jail ministries and then there's guest services of well guessed brother gibson he talked about it last week and he talked about how you know it's always nice to have someone welcoming but then he's also got security i'm not really sure how that plays in so like if you're not nice back yeah security and then prayer sister stacey i mentioned it earlier y'all i've honestly i i've been in church all my life but i never thought about a prayer coordinator just just never thought about it and let me just tell you once i i understood what a prayer coordinator does i was like i was stupid i should that should have been the first thing i thought about in life that right there is a prayer will break you every single time it will break you because we need to pray for sister stacy that's all i know god helps sister stacy that's a tough job she can't do it on her own there is no way she can bear the weight of the world on her own and she's going to present that to you and everyone you are going to want to sign up i guarantee it and she's gonna be like wait and she's gonna like yeah and you're like wait what'd we sign up for then as ron talked about music now music is such a there's any in this is just very simply put in within we have musicians and singers and kids music it is more than what it looks like because every single service you got to have it exactly right and once again there's a million ways it can go wrong and one way to get it right even when herb's playing and seth doesn't know it but we do turn the drums off out here so those that the practice that may be the most time-consuming uh thing in in our church is music i i know duran's got a rotation i know a lot of people work in it but it may be the most time consuming the most demanding and because it it it has to be on everyone's going to hear it and it's also i don't know if you guys i know y'all noticed this right worship will make or break a service it's hard to preach after worship's being kind of like pastor yeah so duran stepped up where'd he go all right no he's in class i'm just picking on him needlessly and then we have ladies as sister kathy put there are a lot of things that the ladies do and most of them involve food i josh with the man um excuse me sir we're going to need more food men will in a in a church will provide such a structure that i know this okay i've i've i've seen this at one point in time growing up we had our our church had one type opinion man in it it was it was a weird time it was when i was young and it was it was weird it's bad a bad economy had hit the area and it had really it had messed with the whole area and a focus on men turned what looked like right i mean because you still had church like it wasn't it wasn't awful but like a work day with one person that is working is not great it's things have to get done things have to be structurally built things have to be solid and have to be sound guess what that comes from men and as culture will focus and culture is doing everything in the world to destroy men guess what it's no different than the church in fact it may be worse in the church i personally i think josh has got a huge target on his back because of that that focus if you can if you can destroy that if you can take out a leadership if you can take out a structure then it collapses now now listen this is not negating one or rising one above the other okay it's all the body but if you take a bone out of an arm a muscle ain't going to do much it's just going to flop so we're the body and i'm going to stop sharing this now because the body of christ that's our overall structure guys but a structure doesn't mean much unless we work it correctly if if we don't focus our ourselves right the process the reasoning the whole reason that a structure is there is for a soul we talked about it last week a church or a body of christ is for to make a disciple and then to turn that disciple into someone that serves or minister that that's the whole process of a church now nine i would say 90 95 percent of our time is spent on maintaining and transforming i would say that because if if you look if you look at it and and i'll go into it in just a moment of what each function i'll cover that just a little bit but if you look at marketing and guest services and ministry those are the three outward focus even though guest service is internal it it pulls that external in everything else is focused internally it's something we have to we have to take into account because the goal is a soul i'm going to make a hashtag out of that everything that is done is done for so the currency that jesus used for a soul was love for god so loved the world right he gave he so loved that is the same for us the currency that we must have is love we must not just have it we must use it the we share the gospel out of love right when when we love someone the thought of them burning in hell will change our perspective every time now how we approach that right because we love we don't approach the same way every single time love draws us to approach in a very singu or a very specific form a very specific way relative to the individual very late each person is different we worship because of love we do our best to live a good life because of love for christ you're here on a wednesday night because of love some of you are here out of love for god and some of you i'm just kidding we're here out of love for god right i've heard of i've heard a saying people show up to church on sunday morning out of obligation or to soothe their conscience people show up on sunday night and we don't have that so i guess we just don't like right it says because they like the preacher so we don't have sunday night i don't i don't know what that says about us um or her but it says people show up on wednesday night because they love god now i know that's that's a saying i know it's not it's not something to beard build uh theology around but it does hold some merit for our consideration uh america will go to church on easter sunday and mother's day as a token either to christ or to family that's that's it because it requires no change there's no commitment to it it requires no sacrifice now not criticizing that because guess what that's an opportunity it's an opportunity because not because these are four walls but because this is a body that facilitates a relationship a we're all in that relationship it's a one-on-one relationship with god we support one another but we also want to share that relationship and we want to see those we love have a relationship with christ as well remember something a relationship is built over time it doesn't start out when you it doesn't start out with the deepest of loves right when you when you first went on a date or uh or whatever first date you guys went on ethan would you have died would you have died for her for that day out of love don't answer that all right don't answer that question all right no maybe you would have died for her out of chivalry out of because it was a cultural obligation because it was something that it would have been the right thing to do right like as a as a man right women if he would have died on the date you'd be like oh all right next right no right because love is a rel it's it's a journey it's a walk the same thing is our wall with christ is a relationship it's a journey we're there is a cost over time relationships right in in in marriage uh nature's become more like compromises are made uh people even somehow start to look the same i don't know how that works all right our job as church is to help facilitate that it's to help build that when it's to when newcomers come it's to help them build a relationship with god now each person's different but our love should help us love will make us sensitive to their needs that's and so we build a structure a ministry team a serving team goes and finds a need and then they present it to us we as a body need to respond to that need a marketing team does their best to put our best foot forward to put a put a proper representation of or a good representation and proper representation of what we are we're a church we're a body of christ a guest services make sure someone feels welcome make sure they know that we care about them a connect group gives someone somewhere to connect music gives someone it builds an atmosphere that god will move in that focuses attention on god and then ladies and men it hones those in youth department it takes kids that are growing up and it helps them develop same with christian education helps them develop a relationship with god now tyler i need you to help me all right i have got a contraption right here and i'm going to end guys all right it's super simple contraption it it's what oh it's yeah you did because you set right there on the front all right so and i needed the guy because this thing is actually kind of heavy i like well because i needed you to struggle with it all right it's for the it's for the object lesson tonight yeah yeah uh-oh which one did i undo all right good deal all right now this is a pulley system in case you couldn't tell oh no i've made a mistake all right let's hope that let's hope that still works nope nope still works all right pulley system one is a simple machine all right one's a complex machine i need you to pick this up no there's a handle on everything no no no it's a simple machine it's pretty heavy isn't it yeah muscles yeah you got to watch it all right now it simple machine means it takes one it's just one little machine here that he's able to pull no i want you to pull this one too i'm not gonna do it all right give this one a shot see what happens with it yeah it's not it's not the best rope ever but all right no no yeah leave the other one you can just what's it it's it's a complex machine it's got four pulleys on it it kind of got stuck there but the multiplying effect on it though you have to go a greater distance have to have to move a little further away but guess what it makes it easier to pick it up you can pick up more weight yeah all right thank you that was everything if it didn't get stuck all right well you know this was made for picking up deer and gutting them so i didn't have a deer tonight the idea behind that though is a simple machine is one person one person can do something right but when we all work together and we all pull together guess what it may take a little longer because it takes a little longer to get all the horses rounded up and headed in the right direction but they can go a whole lot better and a whole lot further and a whole lot longer and pull a whole lot more weight when we all work together hey man i'm done tonight guys but i want to make sure that we keep our mind and our hearts focused on working together that's it just as the body pulling working walking if you would would you stand with me and let's pray jesus we love you we thank you so much for your goodness so much for your mercy god you've been so kind to us god i ask you lord as the body of christ lord you would anoint us you would guide us and you would direct us lord help us lord to be a holy body a pure body gotta ask you lord to speak to send your spirit to purify us lord purify our minds our intentions god and help us lord to focus on a soul help us lord to focus on what you would have us to do god lord not of our might not of our power but god by your spirit lord god we'll be sure to give you all the praise all the glory and all the honor in jesus name we pray amen
